Katie--that sounds great--working for the state. Your current boss needs to get his head out and see what he is about to lose.
Wendy--hope all goes well with the baby shots. So glad we are past that for now. I could never stay with them during the actual shot--DH was always the lucky one.
Lettie--enjoy your camping trip. We head out next friday for some grandparent time and we are ALL ready for the break.
Shannon--I agree--sad to say but during school we didn't like a four day week, it just messed everyone up!
Let's make it a good one. Have dinner out tonight with friends so I have already set my menu and MUST stick to it. I hit the post TO bounce and was up .6 this am--it always happens and it always stuns me--WT....

Katie - Wow on the job front! You're pretty busy there. I love that the state has hired you, though, and I hope that works out. You have such a kind heart and I know you would do a great job. On another note, don't forget that we love your katie-isms as much as you like ours!
As for me, thanks for asking. I go Monday to have an injection in my back of a steroid and anasthetic. It's supposed to shrink the joint that's swollen in my lower back. That hopefully will provide some relief pretty fast. Then we'll deal with the bulging discs in the top and bottom. I'm pretty hopeful, but a little nervous. I know it's only an injection, but it's in a surgery center and they put me out and then put a continuous x-ray over me so they can see exactly where the needle is going. So it's a little more than a cortisone shot in the Dr. office, ya know? But the one thing about going to this doctor was that at least I know I'm not crazy, and I'm not a hypochondriac or making it seem worse than it is. After we deal with the shot Monday, we will work on the other areas one at a time he said.
How is your mouth doing? All better?

Wendy - Hope the check up goes well. With DD (almost 15) I couldn't stay in the room when she had to get shots either. But DS (3 1/2) has been through much more with shots, blood tests, antibiotic shots, etc. that it doesn't phase me anymore. When they are drawing blood from your 1 yr. old over and over you figure out how to distance yourself. At least you know that it's for good and that they cry more from the shock than the actual pain. The vaccinations are over really fast. Half the time they don't even start to cry until they're getting the band-aid!
Oh, and I'm :crossed: with hitting your goal! Remember that you can still go 5lbs either way during maintenance and still get the refund, and if you're like Kristen you can hit your goal during the first few weeks of stabilization!

Still a little tender and swollen, but I can eat and drink whatever I want now, so that is good. I hope that your injection on Monday helps. My DH has had those, and they did seem to do him some good.

Morning All you fabulous folks!
Well I was up a bit today from Wednesday but DH bday night was in there and it was under a pound so not worried. But they gave me my maintenance book.. woooooooooohooooooooooooooooo
There are some goodies in here.. I'll have to post a few so you can see the light at the end of the tunnell! They said this is your new bible, come in and weigh in once a week and drop one Lite a day.. GASP!!
So I also had my measurements taken and I've lost 36.25 overall with 6" gone from the thunder thighs, 9.25" gone from the hockey hips, 12" gone from the waist.. and to DH's dismay 9" gone from the bust aka Funbags!
Okay let me give you a few things to look forward to on maintenance:
There is a whole page devoted to chocolate bars but I'm going to pass.. they are all 2 starches and 2 fats.. no thanks!
CAKE for Nicole: Chocolate Cake Iced, lo fat 1/12 2 Starch 1 Fat
Gingersnaps 3 1 Starch

So I took DD to the doctor and I'm glad I did. She has a sinus infection. Doc gave her THREE meds - including a tablet. She's three, so I was worried about that one, but it's an instant-dissolving tablet. She crunched it up, made a face, swallowed, and said, "Is the next one better?" The cough medication thankfully knocked her out cough-free, but she woke up at 1:30 coughing again and I couldn't give her more of the meds! I could only let her drink some water which helped until about 3:00 when I got her and put her in bed with us and gave her a little more water. Bless her heart, she slept until 8:30 this morning - unheard of for that little chick!
Going to WI this morning. I can't wait until I've been on this plan for about a month and can really see some changes. I know the number on the scale is lower, but I want my pants to be loose! I know it will come! I hope that I'm noticeably changed by the time I start back to school in August!

Good Friday Morning Ladies,
I have a question and was hoping someone would know where I can find the answer or may have the answer. My counselor suggested that I do the "Slim Down" drink for at least three meals a week to assure weight loss. I'm not a big fan of liquid meals, and I didn't want to pay the price of the centers Slim Downs. Is there something compareable to the slim down's....like a slimfast? Do you all think this is a good idea? Has anyone tried this? Thanks so much for your help.....
I'm doing a 4th of July challenge with my online buddy and I'm fired up! I read your posts daily and I can't tell you how inspirational you all are. Thanks for that.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning ladies and Dan!
At least I think it is morning. I am glad today is friday and 1 week down of the late shifts. It hasn't been too bad but I do get a little more tired each day.
Really not a lot new on this front as all I have been doing is work. We have a potluck today at work but there will be things I can have without guilt and I am also taking a few snacks as well just to be sure.
I just wanted to stop in and say Hi and wish everyone a great TGIF and weekend!!!

Felicia..glad DD is okay. We have had more than our share of bugs this year.. it's been horrible.. the nighttime cough is the worst one as they sound like the child is trying to pass a hairball and there is nothing we can do. Our doctor said for most kids these days a cough can last 6-8 weeks!
It's been crazy here with the home renovations so I have not had time to welcome all the newbies to the board. WELCOME! A lot of the questions you have can be found in the newbies thread and you can also search within the forum for answers to many of your questions. Your COD will give you a lot of information but we have all found a wealth of knowledge on this site as well... sometimes we even know MORE than they do :)
Cassi/Deb/Kristen can help with cooking, Kim2 with any surgery issues, Nicole and Letti with mothering multiple kids and gardening and CAKE, Kimphin with any auditor questions, JM with any new mommy questions, Shannon anything to do with comedy, Libby painting and decor, Letisha anything positive you need, Katie and Lea Ann.. small kids and school, Joni anything on boxers, Alannah anything about call centres, Wendys anything about kids, Lasik, first communions.. Jillian our local Starbucks guru, and our local expert Sherrif Dan can tell you anything and everything about SODIUM!! So ask away.. we are here to answer your questions if you can't find them in the newbies thread!

This is awesome Danette, thanks. I'm one of those who haven't lost an ounce on Byetta. I only started losing weight when I started the diet. But even so I love my Byetta. It really has got my bs under control and it does make me eat less. The nausea is the only issue and if I don't eat much, there's no problem.

Felicia - So glad you got DD some meds! It's so hard when our little ones are sick. We feel so helpless.
JPS - Welcome! One of the things that will help you find the information on here is to use the "search" function. A lot of what is asked has been asked before so sometimes you may get a quicker answer that way. And check out the newbie thread too. But to answer your question, I use a Slim Fast Optima and a string cheese because the slim fasts are less calorically than the slim downs. So I get to chew something, get a little more protein and calcium in, and less sugar than the slim downs.

I asked if we could have sushi...and she didnt know...she said that i could buy LA online and ask a dietician:devil: .........WOW....all in 2 minutes time......they are really starting to frustrate me there with their sales tactics...anyways....it is Friday..woohoo for most of you..but i work every weekend...FRI, SAT, SUN nights...it is nice having weekdays off though...Thanx for letting me vent!!!

Okay I am finding humor in everything today.. no offense to the roosters but the item below rang so true for me I had to share! don't laugh out loud too loudly if you are at the office... love you Dan!
BBQ RULES
We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
Here comes the important part:
(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine...
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
Important again:
(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine...
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women...

Happy Friday to everyone in the hen house....
ok - I am very excited ..... I don't how it happened, but my scale has been stalled what seems like forever - I think its been about 3 weeks or so. Anyway, went away on vacation for a few days. Was not pop by anymeans. More starches than I should have, and fruit also, and I'm not talking an apple - and this morning - I was down 2 lbs. woooo hooo. Maybe my body went into shock having more than its used to and decided to let it go...... I don'tknow what, but I like it.
Only have time for a few personals - so here goes and this is just from memory so lets see how I do.
Katie - best of luck to you on the job issue. Sounds like your boss doesn't know how lucky he is to have you.
Angie - naked all the time??? Watch out for those surprise guests ringing your doorbell.... haha
Deb - 90 lbs ..... that is incredible - good for you. What an inspiration. You must feel so proud - and you should.
Lettie - have fun camping .... sigh .... I loved camping with my kids when they were smaller.
Kristen - loved the email from your sil. I have had days like that.
Dan - yea, I think that there has been a lot more adverstising of LAWL in Canada - or maybe its just that I notice it now.
Kim2 - glad to see you on the boards again, hope recovery is going well, and glad you enjoyed that icecream.
Welcome to all the newcomers - from Canada or wherever.

Dr's appt with DD went well. She's healthy and growing well, and she wow'd the dr with her talking. He said he thought she was ready for Kindergarten right now. LOL! I guess it helps that she stays with her grandmas...ones has a degree in early childhood development, and the other's a teacher.
Katie - That is crazy about your boss! I don't blame you one bit for not signing that non-compete clause either.
Lettie - People aren't listening to you already. It's gone crazy since I posted earlier this morning!!
Lea Ann and Cassi - DD only had to get one shot today, and it went okay. I felt so bad because she had been so happy throughout the whole visit talking to the doctor and showing off. But, she recovered rather quickly, and a strawberry Dum Dum helped make it all better. :) As for staying in the room, I actually usually hold my kids in my lap when they get shots. That way, I feel like I can start calming them down right away. Oldest DD had to have blood drawn out of her heel about 5 or 6 times her first week due to jaundice (most times in my hospital room, and I'd had a c-section and couldn't run away), so I had to adjust to seeing my babies in pain all too quickly.
Cassi - Hope your injection goes well. My mom had that done a couple of times and it worked wonders. Oh, and no refund for me. My center doesn't do that. :(
Kristen - Thanks for the Maintenance preview. I know my COD showed me the book a while back, and there was a whole page devoted to different kinds of cookies. Wow! And, AWESOME stats!! You rock! Love the BBQ posting, as well, but as Dan said, it doesn't work quite that way in our house either. LOL!
Felicia - Hope DD gets all better soon.
Karen - Sometimes I think shaking things up once in a while helps us lose when we get in a rutt.

Wendy, Glad to hear the appt went well. How old are your daughters? Is there even an option of not being in the room when the kid gets shots?
My son is 13 months and I hold him too. He also had jaundice and had a heel stick everyday for the first week. I didn't have a c-section, so I drove him to the clinic each day.
May I ask how long it took you to lose the weight? Our stats are similar other than my current weight is my starting weight.;) I am starting at 157.7 and my goal is about 130.

Holly - My girls are 6 and 2 and like night and day!! And, I've never been given the option not to be in the room for shots, so I'm not sure. :) I joined LAWL on January 5th, so it's been almost 5 months. I did not lose the 2 lbs. per week, but I did lose steadily. I think my average is more like 1.5 lbs. maybe??? And I never really hit a plateau, per se, but sometimes I was "stuck" for a couple of weeks. I start stabilization next week whether I hit the 130 or not, but I expect to lose a bit in the beginning because the first thing they add back is unlimited veggies. I can't see myself going on a veggie binge!! But, it will be nice to be able to put whatever I like in my salads and not be concerned about measuring!! Good luck on the program!!
Lea Ann - When she gave the shot, the nurse said "I'm going to put some medicine in your leg". Afterwards DD said, "I don want medcine in my weg!" It was hard not to laugh.

Danette -- The phenomena of binging or cheating followed by a weight LOSS is called "Jasoning" around here. It's named after our Sask-newfie friend who can eat wings and lose weight!
About the LAWL name change, I mentioned it at my COD and a counsellor who was in hearing range of the one I was actually speaking with, said "no, there's no name change". I went to WI this morning and was up THREE pounds. That is just not fair. I was slightly POOP yesterday, but THREE pounds? Cmon! I was over by 2 starches and missed one fruit and my lites. I'm thinking of starting a petition against big gains for small cheats, let me know if I can count on your support. When I have enough signatures, I'll figure out who I should send it to.
angie--i'm totally with you on having a huge gain for such a small cheat. i'm still trying to lose 4lbs that i apparently gained from having a few drinks over the holiday weekend. WTF. is all i have to say. i've been completely POP since then and drinking tons of water. no freakin' clue what's going on with my body. TOM isn't due anytime soon either. so i have no explaination...i'm super pissed and even went as far as telling my DH that i'm quitting LAWL and gonna be a fatty again. (of course i won't..but i sure feel like it!)

thanks karen. i know i won't quit. i won't allow myself to do that this time around. and dh won't either. he knows how much i want this and how hard i've worked and how far i've come. my heaviest weight (when i was prego with my DD..was 320lbs.) so i know i've come a long way...but i'm stumped and more frustrated than anything about this gain.
it's like kristen's said..if i gain, i want a justifiable one..like eating a big fatty cheese pizza. i only had like 3 drinks!
but thanks for the motivation.
i'm just so fed up i could cry.

I know how you feel about being frustrated .... I have been there myself... if you cheat big time you expect to see that on the scale but a couple drinks shouldn't make so much difference. I bet you will see a drop in a few days.

Hey Jillian...tomorrow morning, get on your home sclae and bounce up and down on it to shake it loose. Maybe it's just kind of stuck, and you didn't actually hold on to that gain. :) Worked for me this morning (well, okay, maybe it was the fish I had last night, plus the two teabags I went through yesterday...hmmm....)
Donisha told me that on the weeks she has fish + spinach together at the same meal, twice that week, that she will drop weight really well those weeks. I tried it for a week or two, and sure enough, I lost. Then I got busy and forgot about that secret, so am trying it again. I know you're a veggie-girl, but maybe egg beaters + spinach might work? Make a little quiche or something with it? :) We are with you!!!! NO QUITTING!!!! (only swimming is allowed, heh)

Hey gang...
Been a busy day and just haven't had the time to sit down and write...
Was down a bit following TO, but I think today kind of blew that.. Took the kids to see Shrek 3 and had popcorn... At dinner at my mom's tonight, we had 3 cookies and a few chips along with the brisket mom got from a local BBQ place... I know, I know.. bad bad bad...
But at least I didn't put salt on anything! And I still got in more than our requirement in water...
Anyway.. time to get the kiddos to bed.. Have a good night all!

Good evening....
It's been a good week and I am thinking about gracing the COD with my presence tomorrow :) TOM arrived so I am not going to be down as much as I was earlier this week...darn it!!!
Dan - The movie popcorn sounds SOOOOOOOOO good right now. I was thinking about taking my niece to see Shrek 3 and might do that tomorrow afternoon. I will have to seriously brainwash myself in order to stay away from the popcorn!
Jillian - I am so sorry you are funked up right now! Don't give up...you've come along way and have had such success...this little bump in the road will pass and you will lose the weight. :hugs:
Karen - I love your quote! It brings a smile to my face every time.

Hey all--busy evening. Girls had a swim party/sleepover and we "got" to help transport lots of screaming girls to the host house. Ugh--do I feel for them. Had the major sleepover in the Fall and it will be a long time before we do it again!
Did not do well at dinner but still better than my old normal. Even bit the dust and had a sliver of birthday cake--I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow. Made plans at 10:00 to go to the lake tomorrow--yikes! Bathing suit already?? Anyway I am really TRYING to pack well so I can not blow it completely out of the water. Made homeade chicken salad, packed celery sticks, carrots, and grapes--my friend is in charge of the kiddo snacks and in charge of keeping me out of them! Hopefully the tubing, jet skiing and swimming will take away the cake guilt....
Off to bed--why we can't plan things with a little more time I'll never know!

Good morning, all! We found out last night that DS has a make-up tee-ball game today at 10:30 a.m. I am NOT looking forward to going! DH is off taking photos at a bike race, so I'll be going it alone with the kids. I'm just praying that Elizabeth doesn't start asking for nachos! They are her favorite thing at the ballpark - mine, too!! I don't think I need that kind of temptation right now!
Next Sunday, we'll be taking pictures at a local triathlon (we own an event photography business). We'll be there from about 6 a.m. until noon. I'm wondering how I'll manage to get everything in that I need to. I don't think I can snap my pics while munching on a Lite bar or crunching on carrots! Once the event starts, there's not a lot of down time. I'll be snapping pretty much nonstop - last year, I took over 1000 pictures at this same event. (I also nearly passed out from dehydration, but thankfully, I found some water in time. How embarrassing would that be? All these athletes battling to finish this ruthless course and the fat girl with the camera passes out at the finish line! I can just see them all having to jump over my unconscious form to finish!) Anyway, does anyone have any ideas for snacks/food when you're seriously on the go? I'm on red and it's already hard enough to get all that food in without taking 6 hours off from eating!

Hi guys - thanks for the good gall bladder stories - I had heard that the surgery was easy - now I have real people that attest to that!
Spent the day yesterday going from medical office to medical office, blood work, ultrasound, you name it. Won't have results until Monday - so luckily the Dr. gave me Lortab. What a lovely pill..... The first dose did NOTHING to ease the pain, but my second one (6 hrs later) did the trick. Right now I am as close to a functioning adult as I have been in three days. I actually slept last night. Given what the doctor said could this could be, I am hoping for gall bladder surgery... the other options were not good.
Anyway - thanks for the well wishes. Have a POP day everyone!

Good morning! Well, even if I don't make goal at COD, I did on my home scale this morning...BNWI said 130 even. Yippee!! I know that's my true weight anyway. It felt good to see that, especially since I had a piece of my MIL's homemade ice cream cake last night. And today I'm probably taking oldest DD to see Shrek 3, as well. However, she somehow doesn't like pop corn, so if she's not getting any, I don't have a good excuse to buy any. Well, lots to do today. Swim lessons for the oldest are in about 40 minutes. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Great job Wendy!!!!!
Kim- Wow, I hope the Lortab keeps you feeling good all weekend. Hopefully Monday you will have some good answers.
Lee Ann- Have fun at the lake, that sounds great!
Debbie- Glad to hear that you had a good week. GL at WI!
Felicia- How about a slim fast optima? You count it as a protein and a starch, if you add a string cheese to it.
I am planning on staying home and doing yard work today. It is supposed to get really hot this weekend. Also, I grounded my kids from the TV for the weekend. Why do I do these things to myself?
Funny kid story- Yesterday we were in a restaurant having ice cream with the kids to celebrate the last day of school. My niece, who is 2, runs out away from our booth and starts singing at the top of her lungs and dancing wilding. My four year old DD yells loudly, "Come on Mea, shake your booby!" I think she meant booty, but we got a lot of looks for that one. Then last night we were at my Grandma's house. She was trying to explain to my 6 year old DD how to milk a cow. My daughter Mataya says, "I know Grandma, you sit on a stool and pull on their weenies till the milk comes out." The look on my Grandma's face priceless, a true Kodak moment.
Have a great, POP day everyone!!!

Gooooood Morning Everybody.
Just doing a quick fly by here. Finally have some gorgeous weather so I want to get some things done in my yard and soak up some sun.
Wendy - way to go!!!
Debbie - thanks for the comment about the quote. I love it to. I have a friend who has that on a t-shirt. Actually her t-shirt says can usually shut the bit** up, but I thought I should maybe tame it down a bit for here. Good luck with your WI.
Lea Ann - have fun at the lake. Your family is a lot like mine.... we often do last minute plans like that it seems, where we are scrambling to pack and put together groceries and head out the door in just a few hours.
Kim - hope you are feeling better soon. My dh had gall bladder removed several years ago now, but prior to his surgery I remember spending a few nights at emergency with him, so I know your pain.
Hope everyone is having a great day, and trying to stay pop.
The sunshine is calling me, so I gotta go. Will check in later.

hey everyone. we just got up a bit ago since we didn't get home til 630am this morning from doing the Relay for Life. we didn't really have a team this year, but a few of us from starbucks sat there, served coffee and walked a bit. it was such a beautiful night out too. i was going to WI today, but didn't get up in time, so i'll end up going on monday after work. ah, oh well. and to be honest, i didn't feel like going much anyways, because i know i've gained...and for no good reason either. so hopefully it'll come off before monday. i have a POP weekend planned...since that's where i falter most times, so something had better give by then! or i may just throw my scale over the balcony!
anyways, hope everyone is off enjoying their weekend. it's a bit overcast here, so nothing outside planned i don't think...and dh and i are both still tired. and i have to open in the morning, so a relaxing day is on the agenda.
i'll check back in later!

So...I caved and went to the COD. TOM arrived and I was feeling surprisingly alert and chipper so I went in with the intentions of doing a fly by (quick weigh in, grab supplies and go NO meeting). Well as luck would have it the counselor that I had a heart to heart with was there and she was determined to get me to "sit down for minute". Well I reluctantly went to the scale and low and behold I was down 4.5lbs since my last WI (about a week and half ago)!!! I couldn't believe my eyes...I feel so bloated with TOM and I just KNEW it wouldn't be that good. Well I am taking it...all the way to the bank girlfriends and Dan! Now I am back to my pre-Boston weight minus a pound. Now here's the good part...I go in for my meeting and I am with Atilla the Hun and she starts signing my praises...well you can imagine the shocked look on my face, then the other counselors start walking by and they all stop...and then proceed to come into the tiny room. Atilla tells me they had a meeting about me last week and I give her the LOOK and asked if they had my photo up in the back room next to the dart board and they all laughed. Now get this...they said we realized your lifestyle (I travel alot for work) makes it harder to lose weight than most of our clients so we wanted to figure out a way to help you! Can you believe it???!?!!! I've been asking all along for advice and when I finally had a meltdown they decided to meet about it and come up with a plan. The good news is ...they decided I was right after all...and just need to stick to the plan that is working instead of trying to switch up SO much. Sooooooooooo I am sticking to one week of my regular plan, the next week sub a slimdown and the 3rd week a limited menu.
To conclude....I have officially had an attitude adjustment! LOL

:cheer2: WOW thats GREAT!
I actually went in to get the cookbook I have been waiting to pickup. Well What a let down kindof. I was thinking I was getting the blue one with the spiral type binder that everyone talks about. I find out NOPE can not get that one only the new one now.
I said well do you have one I can look at? they were all in wrapping. She was leary of opening one but she did. She was like the Dist. manager or something along those lines.
She said oh I can not ring it up with out your weigh in the computer will not let me. Sounded like BS to me but what ever. I did not want to do the weigh in today because I was already retaining water and I knew TOM would cause the scale to look not so great to me. Well I went up .2 from thursday, she ooh we went up a bit. I thought my god .2  I said well its TOM now. I said thats why Idid not want to do a weigh in. OHH she said well that explains it. she said you may go up anywhere from 5-7 lbs .
So , I said well I wil get the book it looks decent and recipes seem simple.
I hope this book is as good as the other one. I still may try and hunt down the other one. you never have to many cook books, right????
Glad to get in and out of there until Monday or Wednesday. They sure like to sell those splash packs. everytime we talk water she tries to sell splash packs. I think that I was asked 4 times in 10minutes about if I had enough bars. I guess you just get used to it after a while.
I wonder if you work there what kind of discount you get, if any ??

Steph,
My cousin is a counselor, and she gets 50% off of merchandise like bars and cookbooks and such. She started as a customer of LAWL, and then started working there after she had lost 70 lbs. She said she should have started working there earlier (although she wouldn't have such a testimony if she had)She's lost over 100 lbs now, and has completely inspired me to drop this weight.

I thought they must get a good deal. I know the woman there are on the plan as well right now. they are not a bunch of size 2s walking around. coarse the Dist. Mgr . she was a size 8 or so. Maybe thats why i got a bit annoyed when she made the 000.2 weight increase seem like it was a BIG deal.
Anyhow, atleast I know how much I should exspect to gain with good old TOM now, so I don't freak out.

Hi everyone-boy it's going to be tough to keep up now! Took Josie to the dr yesterday-she's 18.5 lbs now-she's gained 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks and probably 3 or 4 since I got her a month ago. This is one of those times that gaining weight is good! She's 30 in long-but he won't talk about where she is on "the charts" until her 12 month appt next month.
She had 4 shots and they tried to take 20 ccs of blood. it was awful. The flow stopped on one arm so they moved to the other. then she squirmed so much she pulled it out. So they didn't get as much as they wanted, but hopefully it's enough.

Hello everyone,
I am still here. Tired, grumpy, cranky...ok just plain pooped!!! This was a long week and I have 4 more to go. Not so much the late hours but just the shear volume of information we are learning on a daily basis. You wouldn't think natural gas would have to be this complicated!!! But it is fun at times and we have a good group of people in my class so that is good. We help keep each other awake every night. Now if I could only sleep in I would be doing even better as that is what is making me tired.
Then I worked 6 hours OT today for my previous client. But I now have 89 hours banked up. 11 more to go to reach my limit of 100 hours to do what I want with or to have available for a rainy day. I tell ya double time adds up fast.
This past wednesday evening was the real kicker though...not 1...not 2 but 3 birthday cakes in our little class of 13. Talk about surrounded by sugar!!! Regular birthday cake, orange cream and a black forest. Between the sugar and the Timmies caffeine its a wonder any of us remembered anything from that night. I had a tiny taste of the black forest and that's it. When the rest were pigging out on cake I had baby carrots!! Timmies on the other hand has been a daily ritual. You should see the brown cups in the trash at the end of the night - some are going through 3-4 cups a shift!! Me I usually have 1 tea and that's it.
Danette - working yes, studying yes, and also having some fun along the way too!!!
I go see the furkid tomorrow for a few hours and other than that not much planned.
I guess that's it for now. Not much new with me as you can see. I'll check back in again!!!

Just a quck hello to all. It's been a full five days since I've been on the site, so I know I've missed a lot and not sure I'll be able to catch up. Wendy - congrats on your BNWI and making goal weight....that's got to feel great. Kim - I'll have to see what's up with you...I see "surgery" and have to go find your original posts...sorry to hear about this but hope you have some good docs on your case..........Anyway, I survived Savannah and Charleston. Really did not eat nor drink all that much. Got in to Lady & Sons (Paula Dean restaurant in Savannah) without any problem. I was dining alone and got right in. I did eat some fried green tomatoes and crab stew and they were quite tasty. That was probably the richest meal I ate all week. I actually got some sort of bug on Monday that didn't leave me until Thursday morning; God works in mysterious ways...he sends me to this city of fine restaurants and eateries, and gives me a little bit of the cooties so I feel too sick or scared to eat. I'll be happy if the scale stays the same for me. Tomorrow morning will tell.
BTW, I mentioned that my goal this past week was to read Dr. Phil's book "The Ultimate Weight Solution - 7 keys to weight loss freedom". Needless to say, I'm only on page 51 of about a 300 page book. Everytime I went to read the book each night, I proceeded to fall asleep. The book is actually really interesting, but I guess I need to find a better time to try to read.
While on the road my doctor's office called with results from last week's mini physical and my cholesteral numbers are not good. 245 total (should be under 200); LDL is 26 and should be around 50-60. I have 60 days to improve the numbers, they will run another test and if I've not improved by diet and exercise, they want to medicate me and that bothers me. So, for the sake of my heart, I've got to get serious. The visual in my mind of the plaque build up in my arteries really scares me. Maybe this is the push I need for my weight loss journey!
Okay - gotta go read. Sorry no personals but hello to all the newbies and oldies! I missed you last week and it will probably take me a few days to get caught up with work and other deadlines.

Thanks everyone!! If I can keep up the good work this weekend, maybe the COD scale will be just as kind on Monday. I also managed to avoid popcorn at the movies. I took my Lite with me and was good to go. BTW, Shrek the Third is a cute movie, and it was PACKED today! It still amazes me that it cost my 6 year old and I $12.50 to see a matinee, though...and then $7.25 for a bottle of lemonade (for her) and a bottle of water (for me). Geesh!!
Debbie - WTG!! That is awesome.
JM - Glad to hear Josie is putting on weight. 30 in. sounds tall. My 2-year-old has just reached 32 in.
Alannah - Wow! Good for you on having baby carrots instead of cake. Whenever I pass on cake, people treat me like I've lost my mind.
Joni - Glad your trip went well, but sorry to hear about your cholesterol numbers. I know some people who have taken some supplements that have helped bring their cholesterol down without them having to go on medication. Perhaps you want to do some research on those as well???
Okay, I know I missed lots of folks, but I must go spend some quality time with DH. He spent the morning at the pool with oldest DD, and then I spent the afternoon with her at the movies. Good night all!!!

shannon- did you learn anything from the form I sent?
Yes I did! Nothing really to help with the nausea that I didn't already know but I did find out why I never lost weight on the Byetta. It turns out my other med works against the byetta. I know they won't take me off the other med though, it's worked very well so far. As long as I can continue to lose weight on the diet I'm good. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they are ever going to call my COD back on the med or how to fix my problem eating all the food. I am sorta tired of her acting like I imagine it though - I might just direct her to that website. Thanks again for telling me about that site.

Hey gang...
Been a busy day.. we had an early party for Danny's birthday and served pizza and cake... I got a thin crust with cheese so Liz and I would stay away from the regular crust stuff... Probably ate a bit too much, as usual, but we were'nt TOO bad.. We both had very small slices of cake, but that's it.. the rest of the time was all fruit and veggies...
I'm having motivation problems again.. I hit 209 a couple days ago, but this weekend has just been one bad choice after another... Not having a COD for in-person motivation is really starting to be a drag...
And now with Liz and the kids being gone for a week, God only knows what kind of trouble I'm going to be in...
Sorry to be a downer...

Good Morning All!
Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I actually joined LAWL last July. Managed to get from 161 to 148. As you can see from my ticker, I later managed to go from 148 to 156 :( No worries - I started the plan again 2 weeks ago, and am back on my way.
I found this forum last year and lurked for a few months. I was really excited to come back and see some familar names that have really made some progress. Congrats to all of you! I think Evette is my hero, and I was sad to see that Pearl is no longer posting. God Bless her.
I did not rejoin at the COD, although I am purchasing some product from them. Mostly using Luna bars for my lites. Since I don't have weigh ins and meetings with counselors, I'm hoping that posting here will keep me focused.
Thanks in advance for all the help and support that I know is on the way! You all are really an amazing group of people.:D

Joni- Glad to see you back home safe and sound. We have really missed you! No good about the Dr's news though. If that is not enough to focus you, I will be happy to send a cyber kick in the rear. We need our Joni healthy!!!
Dan- No way, we are not going to let you loose your motivation. You have come way too far for that. You are doing fatastic, in fact, I am using you as motivation to get my DH to loose a few lbs.
Alannah- Sounds like you have had a crazy week. Great job on the carrots!
Here is a pic of the latest addition to our family. Her name is Harley, she is a 6 week old basset hound that we purchased for our DDs.

Good Sunday morning everybody! Feels weird being on here at this time of morning instead of being at church. With my drains still in I dont have anything to wear that will hide the freakin things so I';m sitting home in my pj's. Dr's appointment tomorrow at 9:30, stitches are coming out and hopefully at least one of my drains. Then I might start feeling a little more human.
I actually got out of the house yesterday for the first time since last Thursday. Whole family went out for breakfast and it wore me out. Its amazing how fast I get tired. I'm ready to feel normal again LOL
Hope everybody has an amazing week!!! I cant do personals. I go so long between checking in that I've got 10 pages to read, sheesh.
Ok a few...

Jamie- I did use the bars. THe money was hard to think about at first but they are really my saving grace during the day. They help keep me from cheating. My snack time was usually after work before I had dinner so I save a lite for my afternoon snack. I know when I get home from work its waiting on me.
There really isnt any magic as to why this worked for me. I guess when I joined I had just gotten to the point in my life that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired LOL I was too young to feel so old. When I joined I stuck to it. I didnt cheat, didnt deviate off plan at all for probably the first 3-4 months. I didnt even do carb craver meals because it scared me. I did eventually relax a little bit and would have a bite of something occasionally but still stuck pretty much to the plan. When I'd lost about 50 pounds I got really comfortable with things. Started thinking I looked pretty good, was buying much smaller clothes and started falling off the wagon occasionally. Not terrible cheats, just several times a week an my weightloss really slowed down. So I kicked myself in the butt and went back to what worked in the beginning...following the plan. I'm not sayng I dont occasionally give in because I'm human and occasionally I'm going to eat something just cause I dang well want to LOL BUT my goal is to not let that become a habit. Because those little tastes and bites and licks eventually add up. That said..dont beat yourself up over an occasional slip up. Dont let it ruin your whole week or even your whole day. Put it behind you and make the rest of your day as on plan as you can.
Sorry, didnt mean to write you a book! LOL Good luck, you can do this Jamie!

Karen, Jillian, Steph, Katie, Phoebe, Danette, Wendy -thanks for the Kudos! Yesterday was a GREAT day and I am still on a high!
Steph - I will keep my eye out for LAWL cookbooks at yard sales. I found one and then I bought one, I'm like you and feel one can never have too many cookbooks. If I find anymore I will let you know :)
Sarrah - Looks like you have a good "in" with your cousin being a counselor. Pass on any tidbits she has to share!!!
JM - So good to see you. I know your time to post is short and sweet. Glad to here Josie is gaining weight. The whole drawing blood from babies thing gets me. My heart breaks!!!
Alannah - Great NSV with the cake! You GO GIRL!
Joni- Sounds like you had fun in Savannah despite your illness! I am super jealous that you went to Lady & Sons...I adore Paula Dean!!! I am sorry to hear your lab results were off. Maybe you can turn things around...I hope so!
Wendy - ^5 for the popcorn willpower!! Movie's are so expensive these days, I usually sneak my water and snacks in (oops did I say that?). LOL
Dan - It must be hard to not have your COD around. Liz may be gone for a week but we are here to help you!!!! You have come so far and have done such a great job of losing the weight and learning how to eat right..don't give up now. Maybe you can plan other activities so that you won't be tempted to eat naughty foods while Liz is away? I try every trick in the book such as brushing my teeth when I have the urge to snack. Hoping on the elliptical for 5 min., getting in my car and driving to car wash etc....it's silly but works. Regardless...we are here and if necessary will get out the handcuffs! LOL
AJ - WELCOME! I too live in Nashville!!!! You have made the first step by getting back on track!
I too miss Pearl and Evette. Evette will post now and then and is still such a huge inspiration. Good luck this week! You can do it!

Thanks Debbie, nice to see your smiling face!!! Glad your handling evrything ok despite all the traveling.
My daughter is driving to your part of the state tomorrow for a cheerleading camp. Say a prayer, this is the first time shes driven that far away by herself and needless to say mom is a wreck LOL Shes going to be in Tullahoma...without me... ::sniff sniff:::

Thanks Debbie... I appreciate the support.. Although, as Liz might tell you, the handcuffs might not have the desired effect..
I have a consultation with a personal trainer tonight at the gym.. I get two free meetings with him along with my new membership. We talked earlier this week so he could get a feel for what I'm after. I told him that I needed training that would aid in my weightloss and then support my maintenance of that loss when I'm done. He seems like he really knows his stuff and is not a body builder persay, but is more of an athelete.
My problem is that I haven't seriously worked out since I was in high school, playing football. So at this point, I don't really know what I need to do.. My hope is to work out with this guy for a while so I can learn what I need to do so I don't add on bulk, but just tone what I have. That way I don't gain weight because of it, and anything I might gain will be lean muscle..
The problem is that it's expensive.. The cheapest plan is $65 a session, but you have to purchase 24 sessions.. Like LAWL, you have to pre-pay.. Ain't that a kicker? Geez louise...

I haven't been able to find the alternative bagels locally, but just went to westernbagel.com and found that I can order them online! The downside is that you have to order SIX packs of 5 bagels and/or pitas/English muffins! I guess I can freeze them! Most of you pros probably already knew this - just thought I would share my find.
Tomorrow is my one-week WI - I'm excited to see how I've done! We have a doctor's scale and, yes, I'm on it every morning, but I want to see OFFICIAL results!
DH will be going tomorrow, too. He's had a rough couple of days, but has managed to stay POP. Yesterday, he was taking pictures at a bike time trial and was there from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Today is the actual race and criterium. It started at 7 a.m. and is supposed to be over around 3. He diligently packed his little cooler both mornings with water, Lites, fruit, and veggies. He had a lot of catching up to do last night! We're both on red so we still have a lot of food to cram in every day. We're also supposed to be substituting SDs for dinner every night right now, so that was hard to deal with. He pretty much just sat down and ate everything he was supposed to eat at 4 and then I made him a blackberry orange smoothie with his SD at around 8. I know that's not how it's supposed to work, but life happens!

Happy Sunday all
Just got back from camping. The weather was so wonderful. Got pretty warm late in the day though. I did go off plan a bit, but nothing like before. I did get in more than my quota of water this weekend though, that should help.
Debbie- YAY on the 4+ lbs. I know how hard it is to eat right while doing a lot of traveling. At least they have finally decided to help you out, or let you do it your way without bothering you.
Jillian- Good for you for doing the relay for life. We have one here next weekend and I wanted to do it, but couldn't find anybody to do it with me, and I really don't want to do it by myself. I suggested it to DH and figured he would be all for it since his dad passed away from cancer 3 years ago, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Like if you don't talk about it, it can't happen to me or something like that.
Sarrah- You can so lose the weight!! We started out about the same and have the same goal weight. I am 17 lbs. from goal now and am so hyped to get there.
Rhonda- Good of you to grace us with your beautiful smile. What's happening?
Wendy- YAY for you!!!:carrot:
Joni- Glad your trip went well despite the bug. Bummer on the cho. numbers. Hopefully you can get them down before the next test.
AJ- Welcome to the group. Stay out of lurkdom and join right in!
Katie- Harley dog is just too adorable. I love basset hounds.
Jamie- Glad to see you around again. You can do it!!
Kim2- Glad things are healing good with the TT. Here's to getting stronger every day.
Felicia- Our Walmart here carries the alternative bagels in the dairy section. GL on your WI.
Lea Ann- Glad you had fun at the lake.
Off to plant some flowers and mow our giant back yard. If that doesn't work off some calories, I don't know what will.

Yo!!
It is an absolutely beautiful day here today. Supposed to rain tomorrow though. I saw the furkid today and it was fun. Spoiled her rotten as usual. Now I am not one for pictures but here and elsewhere people want to see what I actually look like (not sure why but hey!). So this week I am going to have someone at work take some pictures on my digital and I will put them on my computer so I can put one here too. Hopefully at least one won't be scary!!! I do not photograph well.
I also today cleaned out my kitchen and got rid of all the crap hiding in the pantry and the fridge and I am POP this week if it kills me. I can't do the TO on this late shift as I would get too run down so I will have to wait on that till after it is over. But, I am back at COD tomorrow after a self imposed absence ( ahem aka laziness) and bite the bullet. I know I will be up but according to my scale only about 2lbs which isn't all that bad considering it hass been a few weeks.
My goal is 10 lbs for July 4 and I can do it or at least come very close. Even dug out my pedometer today so I can keep track of that everyday too.
So,I am ready to face the music this week - are you????? :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Hi All
Quick check in as Mommy's fuel is near empty. Threw surprise bday party for hubby last night with Keg and today he was gone golfing so have had kids all day.. YAWNNNNNNNNNN
If only I had as much time off as DH does :)
Hope you all had a super weekend. I haven't even glanced at the maintenance book but tomorrow will try to plan some menu and eliminate one Lite a day!! Best stock up on pudding but alas in the new plan it's back to counting as a starch. Will have to rely on Starbucks for my dairy fixes.. yogurt can only excite one for so long!
Nicole kick your sister out soon so you can be in touch and Katie.. I LOVE the new puppy!
Enjoy your week everyone!

Hey gang..
Well, so far I've made it POP today.. Cooked up some chicken and some steak to last me a few days and had a big salad with dinner to cover my veggies.
I made a really good low sodium sauce to go with the chicken while it's on the grill. Here's the recipe...
1 cup of white wine
2 tbs. of white wine or flavored rice vinegar
1 tbs. of honey
2 tbs. of low sodium whorchester sauce
dash of low sodium soy for some color
garlic/onion powders to taste
microwave for one minute.
remove to small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Then simmer until reduced by half or a thickness you desire.. Brush on chicken (or pork) as desired..
It's best to use it while it's still hot so it doesn't reduce the temperature of the food you're basting..
Be sure not to baste until the chicken's almost done, as the sauce may burn somewhat.
Having the honey in there might make it a bit dodgy for some of you, but it really helps with the consistency of the sauce. Besides, it's not like you're going to ingest all of it yourself, so you're not really getting all that sugar...

Welcome back Rhonda! How are things with you?
Dan -- We went to see Shrek this evening, and there were nachos and popcorn involved! Can you say "HLW"? lol Committing to 24 pt sessions up front seems like a hard decision. Too bad they can't give you a 6 week trial or something. After all, what if you don't 'click' with your trainer?
"I know Grandma, you sit on a stool and pull on their weenies till the milk comes out."
Katie -- That is priceless! You are doing fatastic, in fact, I am using you as motivation to get my DH to loose a few lbs.
Was that a deliberate pun, or just a (very) funny typo? lol I just love your new puppy!
Debbie -- Great news that your COD is onside and wanting to help you! Way to go on the 4.5lbs. That's pretty awesome! I'm travelling Tues-Friday this week, any tips for me?
JM -- I think 30 inches is quite tall for 1 year, I think Cameron was 31 inches at his 2 year appt, and he was in the 90th percentile or something around there. There are cool online height predictors you can play with.
Alannah -- Good job on resisting all that cake. It's so nice to see your pretty face!
Joni -- Oh that's too bad that you had a tummy bug, but as you said, good in a weird sort of way too. Hmm...I should probably book a physical too. I really haven't had one since before DS was born, because I wanted to lose weight first. I'm always scared about my arteries, and a high LDL really would be good added motivation to eat better all the time. I'm with you on avoiding the meds in favour of better choices.
Kim in TN -- Did you lose much weight post-surgery? I was wondering if your ticker is up to date, or if you might be even lower now?
Like everyone else I was somewhat off plan this weekend, but not nearly as bad as I could have been. I'm hoping to 'pull a Jason' and lose anyway. I have 4 days of restaurant eating coming up. I wonder if I'm allowed to fly with little applesauce cups in my luggage? I was trying to figure out what I could bring with me. I'm thinking the hardest thing to fit in will be fruit and dairy...hopefully the hotel has a breakfast buffet and I can get yogurt or cheese and fruit there. Oh! I forgot the proverbial LIQUID FRUIT, which I'm bound to have with dinners...

just popping in quick before bed. not much to report today. just worked, napped and talked to the kids today.
angie--whenever i fly, i always pack apples, luna bars, almonds and sugar free candy in my carry-on backpack. i always pack my water bottle so i can fill it up in airports too (so i don't have to pay $2+ for water) i've never had any problems.
ok, gotta go to bed. 3:30am is going to come pretty quickly!

Danette - I don't just NOT like my picture being taken, I HATE it and avoid it at all costs. LOL Luckily I don't drink so I don't have to worry about the Beer or the liquid "fruits". Not sure I could handle it. But hopefully your tummy feels better by tomorrow!!
Just thought I'd drop in beofre going off to bed. Gotta stay up so that I stay on routine for the week.
I spent 2 hours chatting online tonight too. That was fun!!
Bye for now....

Alannah - So good to put a face with the post!! I hate having my picture taken as well. Hopefully one day I won't feel that way.
Angie - If I am flying then I ususally only travel with bars and slimdowns. If I am driving, I load up on fruit, veggies, bars and slimdowns. I try to make the best choice I can at every eating opportunity. When I'm in the airport I usually grab a coffee and a piece of fruit, unless of course I am saving them for the outing that evening ;). Mostly I just try not to let myself get too hungry between meals and then make the best choice possible. After I arrvice home I get right back to the lean meats and lower calorie foods and drink lots and lots of water. Good luck!!!!!
