What is in it? Try to break down the ingredients. If it's a sandwich, is it bread? sub roll? how big of a roll? Mayo? Meat? Cheese? Give us some more specifics.

Oh yea, I guess that would help.

Ingredients: Asiago bread (unbleached flour [wheat flour, malted barley flour], water, Asiago cheese [pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt and enzymes, powdered cellulose to prevent caking], salt, yeast, dough conditioners [ascorbic acid, cellulose, food starch], fresh Asiago cheese [pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes, powdered cellulose to prevent caking]), roast beef (roast beef rubbed with salt, sugar, dextrose, caramel color, garlic powder, onion powder, spices), tomatoes, cheddar cheese (pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes, annatto color, smoke flavoring), red onion, lettuce, horseradish sauce (mayonnaise [soybean oil, egg yolk, vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, salt, water, spice, natural flavors, onion, garlic, calcium disodium EDTA to protect flavor], horseradish [horseradish, water, vinegar, and mustard oil], xanthan gum), salt, black pepper

without any further info.......I'm thinking it may be able to be counted as a CC, which would make it 1P.......but I'm not sure.

Well.. Not knowing what kind of sandwich it is makes it a bit harder...

On edit: Opps.. I was slow on the draw there.. Sorry....

But it's high in sodium, close to half of what we should be eating per day, depending on who you believe...
It's also very high in carbs, close to our daily allotment..
Low in fiber but high in protein..

I'd give it: 1P/2S/1F... And that's without any mayo or cheese.. If you have cheese, count it as a dairy as well...

Can you eat it without the bread, or at least with just one piece?

I like Dan's assessment. And maybe add a condiment too. Horseradish is a condiment, so mixed w/mayo, and not rf mayo, throw a condiment in there too. That way when your COD sees it, it will look like you're REALLY trying. :D

THANKS GUYS! we are ordering from Panera Bread and I cannot decide what to get, I was thinking just salad, but this sandwich sounds so good. I can totally eat it with half the bread. that doesnt bother me at all. I dont get the tomato on it, which is what i think ups the sodium content maybe?

what do you think? ditch the sandwich and get a darn salad?

The sodium content is from the cheese, beef and the bread... Gormet breads have tons of salt, which kills me because I love "rustic breads"...

You should ask for extra tomatoes to get your veggies in!!

Dan, I HATE tomatoes. I dont like them at all.

So here it goes, I ordered the half sandwich, but told them to wrap it in lettuce and drop the bread. Good right?

I also got a half salad to go along with it, so I got tons of salad/veggies in.

They have this hot Chair Tea Latte, that is REALLY good, so I got that too. made with skim milk, etc.

yum!

Wow.. Sounds like you got it covered - nicely done.. Too bad about the tomatoes.. I could eat them like apples...

Nicely done with the bread.. I HATE giving up good bread..

Just don't forget to get your starches in today!!

Thanks Tina & Dan, I appreciate it. and Dan, believe me, I am a HUGE Bread lover. BUt I know that it just makes things worse for me. It was really good, I do that with this other restaurant that my mom always wants to go to, everything there is deep fried or in sub form (italian place) so I get the crab cake sub without the bread. its yummy. The Chai tea was awesome!! I needed a warm drink, since I've started LAWL I've only consumed water and diet soda. That is okay, but its nice to have a change.

Tina, Way to go on meeting your goal!!!

Yum, Panera Bread!! Used to be a regular lunch spot for me until LAWL. I love, love, LOVE the Sierra Turkey on the Asiago Cheese Focaccia. I mainly like it because of the bread and the chipotle mayo so don't think I could eat it just wrapped in lettuce. That's one of the main reasons I haven't been there since early January.

Mmm...I was just at Panera on Monday and had their new salad with the Salmon on it. It was SOOOOO good! (Am afraid to go look at the sodium content, but I did order it with the FF Raspberry dressing instead of what it normally comes with, and then only used less than half the dressing that they gave me. Also gave my free side to my sweetie, who took it back to work with him. He sat there with me and had broccoli cheese soup, chips, and a tuna sandwich, so I was proud of myself for sticking OP as best I could. :)

Megan, i tried that salmon salad I honestly wasnt crazy about it. I'm not real sure why. I love their steak salad, it comes with the balsamic vingeriate (sp??). yum.

wendy, I used to be a regular there too! our boss buys us lunch every friday, and we always either do panera or chinese. well im screwed both ways, so i just get the most healthy thing I can find in both places. chinese has a diet menu, of basically steamed veggies and stuff so its safe. panera is so tempting, I love their baked potato soup in a sourdough bread bowl!!

yummyyyy

Jessica - For the chinese stuff, I always order steamed shrimp and veggies and then I get the brown sauce on the side and dip everything in. And I measure out my rice. Then I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

OMG Cassi, thats too funny, thats EXACTLY what I do. Is that brown sauce horrible for us? its quite tasty!
I rarely eat the rice, if i do i only eat a few bites.

I'm sure the Salt Police will say it's high in sodium, which it is, but dipping a bit I really think I only have 1-2 tbsp tops so it's definitely a much better choice. Dropping the soup and egg roll was hard, but now I don't even want them. I actually had an egg roll at New Years (ordering chinese food is our new year's thing w/my mom and in-laws) and it wasn't even good. The soup still was. But I really don't miss the "extras" and DH feels like he can still enjoy a treat and not eat stuff I can't have in front of me.

I thought maybe it was high in salt. but you 're right, if you dip its not too bad. My old favorite was lo mein noodles. and those crab&chs wontons. yum. BIG nono
