Hello, my name is Tann. I'm 39 married and we have 3 young sons. I've been overweight all my life 250-320 range. But after I had my sons the weight climbed up to over 400lbs and I kept losing and gaining the same 75lbs. So I decided to get the lapband, glad I did. I had it done in March '06 and as of today I've lost 183lbs so far. I have about 60 more to go, My Dr. wants me under 180 lbs. So that's my story. Looking forward to getting to know you. I will try and post some pics later.:dizzy:

:D LOL JIFFYPOP, you are right instead of yelling at them from down the hall or somewhere, now I'm right up in their faces;) We also go out more, like taking long walks, going to the parks, walking around in the malls, just being more active:carrot:

And it is WORK, even tho I have the band I still have to exercise and watch everything that goes in my mouth. And fighting head hunger.

Wow, you look great! Did the lap band take a lot of getting used to?Yes in some ways, and even after a year I'm still learning. I try to stick to a strict lc diet, but there are times when I do go off program, but with the band there is only so far that it will allow you to go.

For example, I love oreo cookies and a glass of cold milk. Before the band I could eat a whole row of oreo & a 16 oz glass of milk. Well I tried to eat my cookies & milk a few months ago, I could only eat 3 cookies and about 3 oz of milk before I was stuffed. I really should've stopped at 1.5 cookies but my head said I could eat more, but the band said NO:dizzy:

Welcome Tann and congratulations on your WL... AMAZING, you look awesome!!!!

And it is WORK, even tho I have the band I still have to exercise and watch everything that goes in my mouth. And fighting head hunger.

YOU SAID IT !!!!!! and with the band some times its easier to eat junk than healthy foods so you have to be that much more careful. For instance, its easier to eat a piece of cake than a chicken breast.

I have the band as well, and am going extremely slow with the fills, which is making my WL extremely EXTREMELY slow but I'm very happy with that... I'd rather go slow than hurt myself. I go about every 6 months for a fill rather than every month like most. Anyway............

:welcome: to 3FC's

Your oreo cookies and milk thing reminded me of my old days. I always thought Oreo cookies were disgusting but if you add milk to them, they were good. So one of my binge foods was oreos and milk. Should I mention that Dreyer's cookies and cream was also another binge food? Anyway, I haven't had an oreo in years but it brought back the memories. Memories I don't want to relive but also reminds me of how much in denial I was back then.

SabrinaAll I can say is May God Continue to Bless you and your dear family, wow, children are a gift from God and he has truly blessed you. Too me, you are not that big for having 8 pregnancies. Anyways about the band. It's very natural to be nervous about having the surgery, any surgery is nerve racking:dizzy:
My journey have been very fast, as I look back on it. Most months I lose 12-18 lbs a month. I try to get my walking in and some lite weight lifting. Most of the time I try to stick to my doctor's diet which is mainly protein and non starchy veggies.

Take care Kim Oh I am pre-op for gastric bypass surgery.:)Wow, Seabreeze there is sooo many differences. To name a few. My self esteem is way up, I feel more in control of my life now. I don't feel like I'm going to die from obesity. People & kids don't stare at me and gawk. When I would be driving in my van (I now drive a new expedition:D ) I would see the driver next to me look at me then tell his passener and they would look too:( I don't have to shop only at Catherines and the Avenue anymore.:carrot: People treat me better too:?: This is just from the top of my head:)

Story, you are still in your healing stage, my doctor didn't even expect me to lose during the 6 week healing phase. So you are doing great just continue to follow your doctor's orders. Make sure you get your water in, and do some walking it is very important:)

I think what I am having the issues with is I kinda expected to see a difference more than I have, forgetting completely that I am only 4 weeks out of surgery and that because of the band that the loss is going to be more gradual. :) However, I am not discouraged by it. Long as I am not gaining back to the 400s, I am exstatic(sp?). :carrot:

Crystal Light is my best friend most mornings. It's the only way to get a nice amount of my water in a day and Lord knows I am busting my buns out walking. :D

Hi Tann,
I was wondering how much does the Lap Band prosedure cost? I have insurance but it's a fussy one and I'm not sure if I will be approved. I am currently 356lbs. and I keep losing the same 40 or 50lbs and go back up again. I'm 42 yrs. old and I'm sick of being this way. I work at a shop so sometimes when it's a very busy job or has any lifting invalved I am one sore and tired chick when I get home. I have friends who have had the Gastric Bypass and one of them is doing horribly. He doesnt take his vitamins and is'nt eating much of anything. He's looking like a skeleton and is in and out of the hospital. This has made me set against getting one myself.
Congratulations with your success and sharing your new life with us all!:)

Congratulations with your success and sharing your new life with us all!:)Hi Colneen, I think mine was around $17,000 paid by UHC, THANK THE ALMIGHTY GOD:) Coleneen I truly understand how you feel, that's why I looked into the band because I got tired of losing the same 70lbs over and over again to only gain it back. I choosed the band because it seem much doable to me. But there are people I have meet (only thru online wls groups) that are having much success with the GB, it just not for me. Thanks for the kind words:hug:
