If money isnt an object does anyone think the lites are worth it. Since later in life you gotta learn to eat without them anyway what do you thimk????

05-22-2007, 03:46 PM
Learning to eat without them isn't a big deal since they are only two little bars. I would be more concerned if I were on a program that was using pre-packaged meals exclusively. All they really are is yummy treats to calm the sweet tooth and they added some soy protein to them. It keeps a lot of people on track since they can use it as a mini dessert or afternoon snack. So, yeah, I think they're worth it.

05-22-2007, 04:53 PM
i think they're worth it too just as cassi said because i have a major sweet tooth and it definitely helps me stay on track. however, this time around on LAWL, i'm using Luna bars instead of the LA bar just because the luna bars are healthier and cheaper. but the first thing for me is the healthier part.

05-22-2007, 04:54 PM
I definitely agree with Cassi on this one. I started off on an all-food plan, and the lack of sweets was agony for me. I decided about halfway through to go on the bars, and haven't regreted it once (in spite of the HUGE hit to my credit card bill!). Some people might do fine without them, but I found the plan MUCH easier to follow with them :D

Agreed...I'm a lites-lover as well. I have found that even though I KNOW I'm getting two a day, each time I reach for one, I get the same little (*hooray!*) inside of me because it's a fun treat. :)

05-22-2007, 06:33 PM
The only problem I find with the Lites is that I like them a little too much! I wish I could have 3 or 4 a day! :p

05-22-2007, 06:46 PM
Totally worht it. It's what keeps me from getting a donut or chocolate chip cookie with my daily Starbucks run. :coffee2: It makes me feel that I'm on a lifestyle choice rather than a diet if I get chococolate most days.

As for coming off of them, at that point you have extra food from your losing plan. It's quite easy to cut back to one a day, but as I look at it a protein bar is healthier than a daily chocolate bar. :chockiss:

I do the all food plan......and I have a ravenous sweet tooth. If you really don't want to do them, your COD should help you find a way to fix your sweet, if that is an issue for you. If I could tolerate the lites, I would probably eat them..........but I can't, and I feel totally satisfied every day that I stay OP. :)

nicole what do you eat in place of the lites? I'll be ending my eight week makeover program soon and I'm curious what I can use in place of lites (besides luna bars etc..) I'm almost afraid to not have them, but i really can't afford to buy more weeks right now. I'd appreciate any of your ideas/suggestions.

I don't eat anything in place of the lites. I would be on purple if I ate lites, but since I do not, I am on red w/o lites. To get my sweet fix, I often have SF pudding w/ FF cool whip. I also eat a ginger sesame dressing on my salads every now and then that is sweet, and I add fruit to my salads quite often. Usually, if I am eating according to plan, and eating enough food early in the day, I do not have trouble with cravings. I do, sometimes really get an itch for sweets......and when that happens, and I am out of exchanges that can fulfill the sweet, I have SF jello ( cherry is my current fav) w/ FF cool whip. Do you see the theme cool whip. Also, if you love chocolate, you can have ricotta cheese as a protein, and add a bit of splenda and regular cocoa......or SF choc syrup, and it is quite yummy. can make french toast with lite bread (remember, 2 pieces of lite bread is 1S) w/ SF syrup. I also LOVE the ricotta cheese pancakes w/ SF syrup. You would be suprised how tasty SF syrup is. And, I personally thought the ricotta cheese pancakes would be GROSS, but they are quite heavenly. My whole family prefers them to buttermilk pancakes. I will try and think of other sweet fixes tomorrow. Fruit really is my friend now. Sliced strawberries w/ a bit of splenda, and yeah, once again, FF cool quite heavenly now :) If you do decide to go bar free, there are a few people on this site who will beable to give you plenty of ideas. Also, as Cassi has mentioned before, if you try w/o lites, and hate it, you can always change your mind and go back to them. They are a wonderful tool if you can figure out a way to use them :) Best of luck to you, and keep us posted :)

I have decided to no longer do the lites. I am currently on the green plan with 2 lites. Does anyone know which plan I should move to without lites?

06-27-2007, 03:44 PM
You move up one plan if you don't do lites, so you'd be on gold.

06-27-2007, 04:25 PM
Totally worth it. The extra protein makes me satisfied and it keeps my sweet chocolate cravings at bay.

06-27-2007, 04:30 PM
I love my Lites! Feels like I'm getting a candy bar every day - TWICE!!

06-27-2007, 04:43 PM
I thought I would have to add a protein rather than an extra fruit & veggie.

06-27-2007, 06:08 PM
It's always been my understanding that you move up one plan when you lose the lites. It just so happens that you don't change protein level from gold to green.

06-27-2007, 06:32 PM
Sorry gold is 2 Proteins, 3V, 2 Fruit, 1 Dairy, 1 Fat, 2 Starches. Regarding the lites, they have been my "ace in the hole". Many a day, I have been able to pass by desserts, snacks, cakes, tortes, wedding cake and you name it because I had my own treat, a lite. If when I reach my goal and go through stablization and maintenance and end up needing a lite substitute for the rest of my life, so be it. It is a small price to pay for better health and a thinner body.

06-27-2007, 06:37 PM
I've never understood how they bump you up to a plan that has more V & F - when bars are P & S - complex carbs at that.

06-27-2007, 06:50 PM
Green is the lowest you can go in the weight loss phase, so they couldn't take away more protein or starches. Most people don't end up on green unless they can't lose the last few pounds on gold. So when they were designing the plan they couldn't take away much more, so green lost a fruit and veggie. That's why when you go up a plan you only "get" a fruit and a veggie.

Hey Lynn,
Do different CODs have different gold plans? I a on gold w/lites, which I just started today and I have 3 fruits. I wonder if I did something wrong. lol!
I will be back at cod tomorrow for clarifications.

There is gold and gold II, but I do not know all of the details.

Also...........some of the things with LAWL don't seem to make sense.......but as Cassi has mentioned before (and she is NOT paid to say this), don't fight the program........if you're going to do it........there are a ton of success stories. When I first started, I was the worst about this. I am the kind of person who needs to know why.....and I have a science background, so that only made matters worse. I think it is good to ask questions.........but some things just don't add up all the time........but it still works ;)

06-27-2007, 07:49 PM
My mental lapse. Gold is 3 fruits. You are right.

06-28-2007, 10:28 AM
Whew! Thanks. I would have bet on it being my mental lapse:)

I'm learning so much here!

The lites are expensive but totally worth it to me. I have a morning sweet tooth and these are better for me than the donut I was having every morning.

06-28-2007, 10:53 AM
It is when I try to economize and not eat my bars or just eat one a day that I begin to fall way off plan. they really keep me focused. and as far as to not having them when I hit goal. I may not buy LAWL bars but I can always throw a slimfast bar or a luna in my purse. probably would be a good idea to always have a bar for a snack to keep me going then too.

06-28-2007, 11:04 AM
Lettie - So when you "economize" and save the $1.50/bar you end up spending $5.00 at the drive thru, right? That was the same logic I used when I decided to do the bars. I figured I would be saving the $$$ from not eating junk.

All, thanks for posting about this. It came at the perfect time. I am just going in today for my bulk lites pitch. Luckily my COD is having a 40% off sale this week so that is less than the bulk price. Funny, last Thurs I asked her if they would have other lites specials after my opportunity to bulk and she said no. Tues I went in and they had the special on the board. The regional sales rep was there and said it’s a “once a year” promo. (I didn’t argue about it but I am skeptical.) I plan to purchase lites to get through weight loss and stabilization. They are nearly the same price as LUNAs now.

:?:has anyone noticed a change in the way the caramel lites taste? or is it just me. ive noticed on the back of the bars i got, not only do they say "caramel" but they also say "wheat"....

06-28-2007, 12:11 PM
Okay, I'm glad it's not just my tastebuds! They look different, the packaging is a little different, and the texture is different too... I'm not thrilled, because that was the only flavor I was using...

06-29-2007, 01:12 PM
hey guys--I also love my lites and have been surprised at how filling they are.
I've gotten a few lite "recipes" from the COD:
brownie in micro for a few secs=yummy goowy brownie
cookie dough sliced a few times and baked=mini cookies

Do you all have any more tricks up your sleeves in manipulating your lites into something more fun? I'd love to hear more ideas!

Also, I took home about 5 dif boxes for my first go round- but what are your favorite flavors of the lites so I can try some new ones soon!

06-29-2007, 01:41 PM
The lites are a life saver for me. I have one with a diet coke on the way home from work every evening and really feel like I'm treating myself after a hard day. Because I tend to want to "snack" while I'm fixing dinner this helps me keep from it.

06-29-2007, 02:03 PM
Amy - I've never heard about baking the cookie dough lites. How long do you think it takes? I don't do the cookie dough because to me it's too sweet, but I think I'd try that.

06-29-2007, 02:06 PM
Before they pulled the smores I would heat them up in the micro for a few seconds, they were great. I agree that caramel doesn't taste the same.

My all time favorite was honey nougat. I am a huge chocolate fan......but the honey nougat was sooo yummy with my coffee.

06-29-2007, 03:40 PM
I totally think the la lite bars are worth it. They really help me control what I eat, because I like to have those sweet treats.
When I took a few months off from going to my COD I was eating the luna bars and they did not work that well for me. I was soo hungry all the time so I kept eating & eating all day long..things I should not of eaten. but now back with the lites I stay on plan.. they really do help me.

06-29-2007, 04:07 PM
i'll have to try the honey nougat!

Cassi- my COD told me to put them in the toaster oven for just a few minutes (cutting it into thirds). I don't have a toaster oven so I will prob bake at 325 for 5 min. Haven't tried it yet- I felt the same way about the cookie dough when I tried it-but this could be a nice treat!
