I am not trying to push any supplement on someone, especially with the side effects some of them come with.

I am mostly skeptical about these weight loss things ... however, in a fit of desperation and depression, I decided to try Hydroxycut alongside my diet.

While I do not know about the claims for actual weight loss through thermogenics, because i have stopped weighing myself for awhile, I have to admit that my appetite and desire to binge ... since I am not often hungry anyway but eat out of habit and boredom ... has been greatly decreased.

Not only that, but I am finding another side effect ... many times I actually feel naseated by food.

While not pleasant to be nausueas, it is a welcome change to my normal food addiction.

Does the Hydroxycut you are taking contain ephedrine? Ephedrine is very dangerous and can cause heart problems as well as other dangerous symptoms. If it is ephedrine free It likely has a very high dose of caffeine which could be causing the nasea. Either way it is not a safe and efective way to lose weight. I took it a few years ago as well as some of my friends (with ephedrine) It did not help any one that I know of lose any significant amount of wieght.

It's loaded with stimulants. They can have the effect of nausea, which probably isn't the best appetite suppressant.

The other ingredients are totally useless for weight loss, but are added because of the hype (myths) that surrounds them.

The ephedra was removed for legal reasons ... also, in Canada, ephedra in supplements are illegal. So no worries that way ...

There are definately stimulants in it. I haven't found that they make me hyper or edgy, tho. The opposite, actually .. I feel calmer.

I don't think that the claims of it burning fat is true .... I think there is not replacement for eating less, excercising more ... but it has worked wonders for helping me with cravings and that sort of thing ... causing me to eat less.

Also, a weird side effect has been that sugar now tastes sickly to me ... so lots of sweet stuff that I liked, when I take these, are out of my cravings.

This was my first month on them, going on three weeks now. I am going to weigh myself tomorrow and then again in a month to see if there has been any signifigant difference.

But it is making the whole thing easier, which for the cost is well worth it.

I'm on the hydroxycut hardcore. I don't know if it really has helped or not with weight loss, but it has really helped with "waking me up" in the morning to work out. I am losing weight at a normal speed (1 to 2 pounds a week), but I am watching what I eat and excercise daily.

I used to work at GNC and saw a ridiculous amount of customers come in day in and day out for diet pills. for some reason they had an effect on me and i decided to get hydroxycut as well. Like you i was nauseated by food, felt the caffiene buzz and was sleepless at nights. But i was oddly happy that i didn't eat as much until i had a customer who came in for hydroxycut. She was beautiful and thin - which made me wonder why she would ever buy diet pills. Then she told me that she had lost around 30 pounds dieting, exercising and taking hydroxycut. she had gone off it after reaching her goal but was putting on weight - while eating right and exercising. So she proceeded to take it to control her weight. From then on i stopped taking them.
So you just have to ask whether you want to take them even after you lose weight.

I've taken supplements in the past - including a very low dose of ephedra (when it was legal). I found them helpful in the way of energy - I had more energy to workout and hence, lost more weight.

I would try another supplement, but one sans ephedra. I think if you are taking the recommended amount (I always take less), eating right, and exercising, it can help.

I took it about 9 yrs ago, when it had ephedra in it. It worked great, and I lost alot of weight on it. Now I wont touch it, the caffeine in it affects me more than the ephedra ever did. The new hydroxycut makes me very edgy and extremely shakey.

To calm my hunger right now I am taking hoodia, and Im quite pleased with it.

I just bought a bottle of the caffeine-free variety and I'm having trouble finding solid information on it. And, from this thread, it seems that there are alot of varying ideas on it.

Has anyone had severe adverse side effects (like bleeding from the eyes)? I'm willing to give the whole bottle a go, but will just toss it now if it's dangerous.

I'm taking hydroxycut Hardcore. I do notice a difference in energy. Work outs are SO difficult with out it!! But you do have to diet and eat right- or your results wont be anything exciting! But be careful! It does kinda turn into a crutch!! A lot of times it turms into a pshychological need than something that is actually helping your weight loss. My fiance took it, and along with a ridiculous diet and 7-day a week work outs Lost 65 lbs from Oct to January. This was before I met him. I'm sure it was a combo of his work (construction), eating habits and gym sessions that had more to do with it than the pills, but it DID give him the energy to go!! But even now, that he is thin, he still takes it. I think it's more of a safety blanket for him now. BUT it isn't going to work for him the way it did when he went straight holocaust! He is picking up some weight- but around 5 lbs not to bad.

I personally wouldn't take Hydroxycut ever again. I took it once, not sure if there was ephedra or caffiene in it, I know that both effect me negatively. I did lose a little weight but had super bad headaches and nearly passed out once. Maybe it's just how my body reacts to it, but I wouldn't want any of that to happen to you:hug:

YES!!! I got MASSIVE HEADACHES while on hydroxycut! I also was EXTREMELY moody and if I didn't quit that stuff, I think I would have lost all my friends ;) I turned into a completely different, snappy, short-tempered person, which is very unlike me; I'm normally very patient and calm. I also felt anxious and nervous, like I was going to have a mini panic attack.

I'll never take it again. I've found that all diet pills make me feel that way - I've also tried TrimSpa and Zantrax 3, which had similar side effects.

I HATE DIET PILLS

Wow, it's always interesting how the same product affects different people. So we definitely have to be very careful what we take.

For me, I find that the Hydroxycut---the regular version with caffeine---makes me calmer and more relaxed, not edgier, though it does give me a boost energy wise.

So rather than taking it before breakfast, I take it before my workout. Then I have breakfast, since I am burning more calories from the workout. I then take my dose for lunch. I skip the one for dinner, though, since it's a stimulant and will keep me up at night.

I have been on it for about two months now, and I have been very happy with it. It's not the miracle product they claim it to be, but I didn't really think anything would be. But it's definitely worth the cost for me.

Hmmm.. I've tried Hydroxycut (reg. version). I liked it in that I didn't experience any negative side-effects and usually I'm pretty sensitive to medication. I too only took just one pill, except before weight training, sometimes I would take the two. And I also skipped the late afternoon dose. I bought the caffeine free version for evenings, but hardly ever take it -- didn't notice any effect period. I agree wth Morag that it gives a little boost, but nothing earth shattering, lol.

Conversely, I have a bottle of Xenedrine and I'm going through it very slowly (since my Hydroxycut was finished). I had purshased a bottle after reading one of those fitness mags and thought it might be better than the Hydroxycut. For me, the Xenadrine seems to come up on me (like vitamins can do) and I don't notice increased energy during my workouts so I'm very unexcited about finishing the bottle. Will not buy Xenadrine again.

Side note: I tried Xenedrine years ago when it contained ephedrine; even on half the reccommended dosage I could not tolerate it. It made my head feel as if it were going to burst (elevated blood pressure?) Ugh.

if i took muscletech's hydroxycut hardcore only once a day until the bottle's gone and not increasing it to 2-6 pills a day, would it still help me on my diet alittle? i don't wanna get any side effects and i think i only need a little bit of help from it. My first time taking it was yesterday, i took 2 pills total for the whole day, but i decided to just make it 1 pill a day now to be safer.. any suggestions please? thank you.

I took both Hardcore and regular Hydroxycut and my honest opinion is it's not worth the money.

First I took the regular Hydroxycut and let me tell you those suggested water intake guidelines are strict. I could not drink the amount of water that the directions said because I had school, marching band practice, and work I went straight from one to the next and going to the bathroom every 5 minutes was not OK and I definately suffered because of it. I got very sick. So I stopped taking them.

A few months later I saw the Hardcore and thought that it was for me, I was completely wrong. I felt OK at first, but once the pill wore off I would crash and get very irritable. During the day though on the pills I felt dizzy, headachey, and sick all the time. It was terrible and I soon realized that I felt better off of them than on them. The few pounds that I did lose were not worth the pain that I went through.

I wouldn't suggest these things to anyone

I am on Hydroxycut max right now and I havent had any side effects at all. You have to drink alot of water while on these and avoid caffiene totally. So far I have lost 18 lbs on this stuff, combined with diet and excersize I did it in 2 months! WooHoo! I do love the energy it gives me, and I have never had a problem sleeping on the reverse side.

I tried it a few years ago and it did make me feel like I had more energy (if having a caffeine headache-type feeling is more energy). I stopped taking it after about a wk because it made me too jittery. I experienced headaches, etc. Amazingly, when I would take another Hydroxycut, the headache would go away and I would feel better. I don't know if it is possible to get addicted to something that quickly, but I felt like that was what happened. I decided it couldn't be too healthy. Also...I didn't even lose weight!

I tried to sell them a theme song for the product,
but for some strange reason they turned me down.

I thought it was kinda catchy...it went like...

"Trim your butt with Hydroxycut,
get the gift of gab while you lose your flab..."

It was set to the melody of the Spiderman song.

How much have you lost to date? Do you find that it helps with your workouts? I just got a bottle of the regular today and I have been exercising since January but i have really hit a wall.

I've been taking it for a couple weeks now, 2 caplets, three times a day as directed and I have noticed a big difference in cravings and energy. It wears off in about 5 hours so no problems sleeping. I have more energy and less cravings. After reading some of the posts here, I'm wondering if I should continue. It is being such a help to me, I'd rather continue and see how the month goes.

Well I was thinking of taking some diet pills soon, and hydroxy cut was one of them after my mom's boyfriend took them 2 years ago and was working out he lost like 70 lbs, in a short amount of time. At the time she told me, I bought some (reg hydroxycut) and I think it said something like take 2 pills 3 times a day, and I think I took 2-3 a day depending on if I remembered or not and I tried it for a week or two (have no clue what happened to the rest of the pills, or maybe I finished them...lol...I forget ) but I do remember that I did nothing no diet or exercise and lost 7 lbs.
My moms now ex b.f. says he started again but is using hydroxy hardcore or something. well in another week or so I will be buying something, hopefully I can post something GOOD (like as in I lost weight) .

Maybe it's just how my body has reacted to it, but it seems as though it makes me even MORE hungry! I've been taking it for 3 days now (I know, not really enough time for my body to adjust to it) but it seems as though I'm NEVER full. I'm going to continue to take it and hope that once my body adjusts to it, it will actually decrease my appitite.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I used to use Hydroxycut, Hoodia, Stacker all those pills awhile ago and I lost alot of weight on them but I dont know which one was working for me, cuz I mixed matched the pills. But the side effects that everyone is talking about is scaring me. I dont want head aches or dizzyness. Maybe Ill just try it and stop it soon if I feel like its taking effect on me.

My boyfriend started using Hydroxycut along with a calorie controlled diet. No exercise though. He did this for 2 months and lost between 2 and 3 lbs. per week. This was a year ago.

I decided to give the pills a try but the side effects were terrible. I couldn't sleep for 2 days because I was not used to the amount of caffeine the pills contained. I was also shaky and felt dizzy and sick. Had to stop after two doses.

My boyfriend claimed that Hydroxycut was able to "replace" doing exercise, but I don't recommend it. Also I think the caffeine and other ingredients didn't affect him because he was already a caffeine addict.

I don't believe Hydroxycut works. Following a normal diet with exercise would most likely yield the same results minus the crazy side effects. :p

Hydroxycut's original claim to fame was because it contained ephedra, which as we know has been found to be dangerous and now illegal to sell; the versions now being sold are in my opinion seem just as dangerous to me and it also seems to me to be a totally nonvalid idea that a pill of any kind can replace healthy exercise, which reacts in the mind and body of an individual in so many positive aspects, including aiding in weight loss and appetite control.

In my opinion, it's scary that people believe a pill can replace exercise, but to each their own.

No, I heard the FDA has now approved it causing this to be brought
back in many of your favorite diet pills...

Nothing like the smell of ephedra in the morning :dizzy:

I had heard this also, Rockrz, some time ago, but I don't find that it is true, although I could be wrong, I haven't looked at every label on every rainbow shelf of drugstore diet pills. It isn't in Hydroxycut, or wasn't last time I looked.

There are "natural" (words fail me) forms of ephedra that aren't banned and that aren't called ephedra, that I've seen on diet pill labels.

A lot of folks would be glad to see it back, I'm sure, and it is still possible to get ephedra but I'd hope they wouldn't put it back in the "drugstore" pills as they are dangerous enough (in my opinion) without it.

Caveat: I do have strong opinions on the what I consider insane amount of unregulated "diet" pills out there for anyone of any age, state of health, whatever to just plop down their money in some hope that it might help them lose weight, while at the same time, they may have no idea at all what is in the pills or whether what the label says is in the pills or whether any of all that stuff is going to be a time bomb they pop in their body because they may or may not have some undiagnosed medical problem that whatever is in the pill will activate.

Actually, I know about this as I've used Hydroxycut in the distant past when I used to be an idiot :) and could have died from it.

Just my opinion, not meaning to tell anyone what they ought to buy or use or do with their life, hope everyone has a nice day.

Has anyone had severe adverse side effects (like bleeding from the eyes)?

I actually had a bleeding nose while on Hydroxycut.

All it did was raise my heart rate, make me feel jittery and give me a bleeding nose.

Obviously I stopped it. I took it back in 1999 and got it from the States (it was illegal in Canada at that time).

I take one hydroxycut hardore 30 minutes before my workouts. They give really good energy for my workouts. But I do not work out with it at least once a week because it seems to be harder to get through my workouts w/o it and I don't want to be dependant on it. However I haven't noticed a difference in my eating. I have been eating well enough long enough that I don'treally get cravings or too much overeating.

I've taken hydroxycut but I only used it as a caffeine supplement. Once a day, not three times like they said. I never experienced the side effects. It was a great energy booster and could make me work out longer.

I kinda called it my happy pill. Haha. I take it on my lethargic days to give me a boost.
