Hi! My name is Lynn, I live in the mid-Atlantic region, and I'm over 100 pounds overweight. I'm generally healthy, workout 3-4 times a week at Curves, as well as the occasional walk and yoga session, and have low blood pressure. My meals are generally healthy, but my problem is that I binge on salty-crunchy foods or on cheese.
I'd love to get to know everyone here, but I'm really not sure where to start posting. Any ideas?
I think you've found a great place to start posting. You will find many warm, supportive and intelligent people here at the 100 lb club. All who know exactly where you are coming from. Check out all the various threads and start posting away. You'll get the hang of it real quick I am sure.
I found for me that when I elminated the foods that I craved the most and replaced them with healthy nutrtious foods, I no longer desired them any more. Do you have a food plan in place? For me that was essential, having a plan in place and then of course sticking to it.
Good luck to you on your journey. I look forward to hearing more from you.
Welcome, Lynn! I third Robin and Tricia, I think you'll find this is a fine place to start!
It sounds like you have an activity plan already, and there's lots of support for that here. Many us find that having both a healthy eating plan and an activity plan are essential for this kind of weight loss, I bet you have some eating plan in mind too. We're all into plans that suit our own bodies, and know that different strategies work for different people, so feel free to share your own experience.
Looking forward to getting to know you, keep posting!
I do have an eating plan in place...it's an "in-between" type thing for now, mostly to get me out of my bingeing habits. Basically it involves planning out each meal and snack for the week. Since I tend to binge when I'm hungry but unable to get to real food (i.e., a quick stop at the 7-11 for a bag of chips) as well as when I'm tired, bored, really any negative emotion, those planned snacks are darned important.
My short term food goal is to stick to my menu for one month consistently. After that I will have to look into actually counting calories and such, but one full consecutive month of following a menu will help immensely.
I can't wait to get to know everyone! I'll hopefully stop by some of the other threads on here tonight from home.
It sounds like you are definitely starting off on the right path. Setting a goal and planning! Planning has been the biggest thing for me... the next thing is remembering to not throttle myself if I go off plan...
There are so many people here that are so smart and so willing to share their knowledge with you. That has been the biggest gift that I have gotten out of this site - knowledge and support.
So glad that you are here - definitely looking forward to reading your posts!
