GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:
Holding back will not move you ahead. When you put forth an effort, make it a full effort, not a half-hearted one. Enthusiasm and energy will carry you past almost any obstacle.
Immerse yourself fully in whatever you're doing, and your results will be spectacular. Those endeavors out of which you get the most value are the ones into which you most ardently and persistently put yourself.
To get more from life, jump into it all the way. Take part. Participate. Make a difference. Speak up. Get off the sidelines and get in the game.
Rather than running or hiding from those troubling aspects of your life, find a way to get involved so you can exert a positive influence on them. Instead of handing out complaints, offer helpful suggestions and take positive action.
If something is important enough to invest your precious time in, then it's important enough to invest your commitment, attention and enthusiasm in as well. Don't just work -- achieve. Don't just exist -- live. Get everything you can from each moment by putting in everything you have.
-- Ralph Marston

Good Monday Morning!
Just got in from doing my 4.5 miles, did better than I thought, have a new second best walk/jog time of 46:37, just 14 seconds more than my best time I did yesterday. My legs felt heavy and I really had to push myself, but of course, I felt great afterwards. Tomorrow I'm walking, I think these elephant legs need a break!
Eli and I went with Lauren to the flea market yesterday. Didn't buy a thing, so much junk there and no bargains to be found. Rather go to the indoor flea market next time, more like little stores, no junk there and it's airconditioned. Of course, lunch at Ole Ole was great and then for Carbolite, one of my fav. flavors, MINT! I indulged with a large:^: It was DELICIOUS! Went to sleep early last night, nothing worth trying to stay up for on the boob-tube and I was tired anyhow from waking up at 4am over the past few days.
Saw this quote this morning and thought I'd post it "Most people fail rather than succeed because they give up what they want most for what they want at the moment."
FROG, tell DH not to be so impressed, remember, I'm jogging too, not just walking. Actually last few times I've jogged it's more jogging than walking. If I just walk, no jogging, I'm about an hour to do my 4.5 miles. I got a lot of blisters from the newest pair of sneaks I broke in, more so than the last 2 pairs that were exactly the same-wonder if it's because I'm jogging more now? Do you use moleskin or blister padding? Those always seem to help me.
MEL, like I told FROG, you have to remember I'm not walking all that much when I have my best times, it's mostly jogging-walking takes me about an hour to do, give or take a minute-but when I mostly jog, that's when I make the better time. I've had a couple of those black toe nails as well-try making sure you cut them back well, even if they are a little too long, they may be jamming against your shoe-at least that's what I found to be happening with me.
JRED, glad to hear the scale is down another pound for you-CONGRATS! I'm sure you'll be treating yourself to that red dress for Xmas-maybe you should stick it on lay-away as an added incentive! Def., you'll have to post a pic of yourself in that dress! Hmmm, SB LEGAL CANDY-give me an idea what you'd like. I can't remember if you've been able to find agave there or not, let me know so I can give you some ideas.
BOB, glad to hear you were hob-nobbing with the "other crowd" for the holidays. I'm sure you enjoyed being there with your family. Too bad you didn't get to the FM, guess we'll just have to make the trek WHEN YOU COME DOWN TO VISIT! Hmm, my Big Lots didn't have any Droste down here-which cocoa content is it?
ROSALIE, CONGRATS on getting into the smaller swim suit. I'm sure your body is gearing up for a drop on the scale, as you KNOW you've already lost inches! Will check out your new recipe you posted later on, sounds delicious!
SUZ, WOO HOO! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You did great in the marathon! And better time than you thought-that's wonderful! Not only that, congratulations for not giving in to that birthday cake!!! Hope the tootsies are feelin better:D
LAMAP, what a wonderful, upbeat post:) Good for you for getting out there and at least TRYING to jog a little. You will see, this added boost of jogging, as little as you can, will help your losses on the scale. When I first jogged, I swear, I didn't get but maybe 100 feet before I petered out and went back to walking. I NEVER thought in my life I'd be doing what I am today, which isn't great by many standards, but it is for me. Do what you can and be proud of what you are doing, every time, you try a few more feet and you'll be amazed on how you can do a little more each time-I sure was. I look forward to this renewal for you and having you with us on the board more:D
Time for me to take Lauren to school and start some cleaning. I'll check in with you all later on.
Have a wonderful week!:)

Good Morning everyone!! Just wanted to pop in for a quick post. I shopped til I dropped Friday! Got lots of walking in, so much my knees ached! Didn't do the mall or wal-mart scene, I went to the outlets! It was pretty good, got some deals and the crowd was not bad at all. I guess everyone was at wal-mart!
I was not the greatest over the weekend. I didn't go hog wild just nibbled on some things that was not SB legal. As for thanksgiving, I thinks I was pretty good that day, just the shopping and finding eats that was legal was a bit hard. But I'm back at it today.
Well better get to work! Everyone have a great week!;)

hi everyone,
hope you all had a nice holiday weekend. we had a laid back thanksgiving at home with just the four of us then went to a friends for dessert. i took a swedish apple pie , a recipe i found on one the boards. it was pretty good. as far as the holiday meal went i did pretty well trying sb legal recipes in addition to my familys favorites. my family was pretty supportive and all agreed that if i could not have the mashed potaoes then we all could and would do without!
the weekend we spent in orlando. we went to the last UCF football game of the season which they won so they have a 6-5 season not anywhere as impressive as those "canes and gators" but they are up and coming. my son will be playing there for the next 4 years so we pretty much live football here. congrats to debbie and gatorgal on the new football rankings a bowl game with 2 florida teams playing each other will be quite interesting! the rest of the weekend we spent shopping! got a few things for christmas. i love going to orlando to shop.
way to go to all those runner/walkers out there. congrats zsuzsu i am really proud of you!!! i was also inspired with the post from lamapp and after i finish this post i am out for a walk! i was going to start the walking after the first of the year but there is no time like the present. i feel like i got a lttle push from the motivational post that deb added for this week too. it is time to go for it and not just sit back and think about it. i did gain a pound when i weighed in on friday after thanksgiving but i know better than to beat myself up about it, this is a new week and i WILL stay sb legal, planning ahead for me seems to be the key.
i will weigh in on wednesday, may have to adjust my schedule so i can always work that day so i can weigh on the same scale each week. i threw away the scale at home when i was weight watchering in the past so i weigh in at the hospital where i work.
bye for now everybody have a great week!

Just a quick post!
Sounds like everyone did pretty good over TG. And a lot of you are stepping up the exercise. Hooray for everyone!
I helped my cousins with a 50th anniversary party for their parents yesterday. Really nice party. I kept SB legal all day with the exception of a half a roasted potato and a small piece of cake. I allow myself a taste of "illegal" stuff or else I would binge on bad stuff if I totally restrict myself. As of this morning I have lost 3 lbs over the weekend!:D So I guess I'm keeping pretty much OP.
I posted a tomato soup recipe to the November board. So easy, you don't have to peel or seed the tomoatoes. I tried a the rice pudding recipe from my new cooking magazine. I'll try to get that posted later.
Hope everyone has a great OP week!

Hi everybody. I just realized yesterday was my 4 month anniversayr on SB. 31 pounds down (several, no,many of them at least twice). Not as much as I hoped, but more than I expected. Does that make any sense? I guess my dreams are a little out of kilter with possible reality, but 31 pounds has already made a big difference in how I feel, how I feel about myself, and definitly my wardrobe. When I hit the 35 lb mark. I'm buying a black velvet dress I saw for New Years- very sexy, never would have had the guts (or sould I say gut:lol: to wear it before. It requires cleavage and collarbones- a tricky combination that I think I can pull off with lots of weight lifting and a trip to Victoria's Secret :D .
Lamap- Congratulations on the jogging. Every step is a triumph! Had to lol about "i hear the earthe move under my feet"- gotta go dig out that Carol King CD for my next workout. I'd forgotten about that one.
zsu(sp?)- Welcome, and great going on the 1/2 marathon! Boy I remember that mile 9 feeling. Sounds like your strategy worked, even if it was hard on the tummy. That was the point where I usually wanted to sit down and just drag my butt the rest of the way. But blisters there would have been really aweful:D Good going!
BK- Glad to hear your hitting the pavement too! We're going to need to change the title of this forum to SB and mileage makers! Like you said, no time like the present. And it should give you a little boost for getting through the next month, both weight and stress wise.
Bob- Your hobnobbing sounded fun. It reminded me of when I was in West Palm Beach 2 TG's ago at the National Field Hockey Festival with dd's team. The games were played on the WPB Polo Club grounds. The girls were gaga hanging out of the van windows pointing at the lux houses, when we realized that at least half of those dream dwellings were STABLES! They much more luxurious and comfy than my house. Course the horses they housed I'm sure were worth more than all my earthly possesions, even if I sold my kids into white slavery!
Off to work, hello to all I've missed...

Just a quickie to say "HI" - I'll definitely be back on tomorrow to wish NANCEMEISTER a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Things are great at work, but busy busy BUSY! Not to mention that my commute time has increased from 40 minutes round trip to 45 minutes EACH WAY!! That really cuts a chunk of time out of a girl's day. Thank goodness for BOOKS ON TAPE!! Actually, I've started leaving the house at 6:00 am  so I can beat the rush on I-4. It puts me here around 6:35 - 6:45 am, but any later than that and I'm stuck forever.
I've joined the gym less than a mile away from my house. I've been doing weights and riding the "big butt bike" (recumbent bike). I go walking in the neighborhood during the week-end when it's nice outside.
We're going to Jacksonville to see the twins we got to see come into the world last year. Their parents are very good friends of ours and we haven't seen them in 6 months so I can hardly wait to get up there.
Got FROG's itinerary and will be planning a route to cheer her on! I hope most of the Florida gals will be able to make it!
Well, I've been on again - off again on the SB way, but today is TOTAL DETOX DAY!! I DO NOT want my first meeting with DEBBIE to be because I need to visit the DUNGEON!!
I must be running.......
 have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone. And thank you for the inspiration. I have printed out that quote Deb posted, and am trying to increase my exercise.
I have been on SB for 17 days, have not cheated once, even at Thanksgiving. It wasn't difficult until yesterday. Had a VERY hard day. Really wanted to comfort and reward myself with food. After all, I had made it through a stressful holiday week, right? And I needed to self nurture, which I have always done with food. And besides, I couldn't keep depriving myself for the rest of my life, could I? So might as well give up. I'm sure you are all familiar with the internal dialogue.
But I made it. Not even sure how. It was a rough day.
I think one thing that made it harder is that even though I have been eating OP, and not much food either, I have not lost weight this week. Discouraging. I asked my husband to hide the scales until Wednesday, hopefully that will help. And I will start to exercise more.
So that's it. It was helpful to read all the posts this morning. Good to know there are others sticking with it, making their goals. For today, I know I can make it.

Hello All
I haven't talked in quite awhile, but have been busy with family, work, and school.
How's everyone doing with x-mas shopping? I got alot done yesterday, thank god. Thanksgiving was great and did okay and I made my SB dishes, but ate some I'm not suppose to.
We've adopted a dog from a rescue and he's also a new addition to my family and keeping me busy and spending my money. Who needs more kids all you need is animals.
Deb- Glad to see your still doing your walk/jog in the mornings. I'm still working out at the gym 3 x's a week and I am almost back to my size from before my daughter. Back in my jeans, but need a little more room in them, not comfortable enough yet. The amazing part is I've lost inches and have only lost a few lbs.
Well everyone take care, must get back to work.

Hello gals - I missed ya'll over the holidays. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Ours was fair - very different and more somber than in times past. I did get a good bit of x-mas shopping done!
The great news is that on Thanksgiving day, I reached a new low of 145 even! Of course, with eating off program for a couple of days I weighed in at 146 this morning, but I'm very optimistic that I am seeing a downward trend! I've not been drinking my water over the holidays, so I'm drowning myself today and running to the ladies room quite often:o !!
I haven't had time to read and catch up on everything, so excuse me if I don't address everyone!
Deb - You just keep on breaking records!! I just wish I could get half as motivated to exercise as you are!
Busdeb - glad to hear you got home before the tornados hit - it got really scary for awhile around here! Lots of folks lost their homes, and a few lost their lives, so we just all have to be thankful that it wasn't any worse.
Mel - time goes by fast doesn't it. 31 lbs is great!!

HiHo all! Hopefully on the 29th the doc will come me something for pain. Then I will stop moaning and groaning like an old lady!! I feel my age today plus yours!!!
I did go to NH, it does as much for me as the residents. Stopped at pharmacy on way home and that's it until time to fix supper. Yesterday I put up my little tree and put the lights on as I did so. It seems easier than trying to put them on afterwards, trrying to reach around it. Thought I would finish it today but :nono:
I just lost posts to everyone!!!!! D-mn!!!! To tired to rewrite! Will try later. Take care, sef

Hi Everyone, just a quick post cause we're expecting some severe weather here & sure don't want to be on the puter when it gets here.
Worked today as well as the week end. Off tomorrow for my appt with the Neurologist. Still having quiet a bit of mouth pain, so I'm hoping he'll have something positive to tell me about what to do now. Have upped my dose of medication & it has helped some, but still not enough. Since weight gain is a side effect of the med, I sure don't want to have to fight that as well as the pain.
anyway.... saw that some old faces were back on the board today.
ralynne99 good to see you back. Missed you.
SolShine Good to hear from you & that you're getting back to SB.
Meliris 31 lbs is great! Especially in 4 months!
Debbie Got your email & I like the idea of combining the recipe boards for the year. Would really help when we're looking for a certain recipe instead of going from month to month.
SEF Sure hope that doc hurries up & calls in a script for ya. Arhtur is not treating you right, so it's time to bump 'em out the door ;)
Sorry if I missed addressing the rest of you gals, but will try to finish up later. Great to hear that so many of you have done so well with Thanksgiving. You know that this was only a TEST, as Christmas & New Years will certainly be more of a challenge for us all. :D Well, got to go ... BYE!

Off to the gym to get in 6 miles before dinner. YUCK! Hate that treadmill, but gotta get the miles in! Ran a total of 36 last week, don't know for sure what the total for this week is. I think 32.
Good to get back to work, only worked one day last week. Enjoy my job and my co-workers. Saw a really cool kid today and one that will probably end up in the juvenile correction system unless something major changes.
DEB - I am a FANATIC about the proper gear on your feet. I hope that you are not running too much in anything but running shoes. I would love to give an inservice to this group on nothing BUT how to buy the right fitness shoe for your foot type and why that is very important. Knowing what I know about feet is HOW I am able to put in the miles I do without major problems. This is the first year I have ever had a black toenail (caused by shoes that are too short) and a blister like the one I have on my big ol' big toe (which I blame on the socks as much as anything!). You should not have blisters unless your shoes fit improperly or are not being used for the purpose they're intended. You really shouldn't have to "break in" any shoes, not even dress shoes. If they don't feel great when you try them on, don't even think about buying them. This is one of the reasons I SWEAR by the Road Runner Sports (RRS) system of returning shoes and other products after you've used them because you can return them without obligation. The black toe nail shoes came from there and I returned them for a full refund after MANY runs. It took putting in a little longer distance before the toe became an issue. Sometimes it is difficult to tell right away if you've made the right selection. Moreover, RRS sells shoes by category, so once you know your foot type, you can shop with more knowledge about shoe types. Many times I know more about the shoes in a store than the sales people because I've learned. I don't wanna overwhelm, but I have lots of info if you'd like to know more. I don't use any blister products because I've never needed it, but I do know that many people use moleskin. Personally, I think that it is best to let your body do what it is trying to do and let the blister be. It is a natural protection defense mechanism. "Well Gaaawwwwhhh-leee!" Ain't our bodies' grand? :D
More to the rest of you fine ladie's later.
Bye for now!
Peace,
FROG

HiHo all!
I have a time limit so will get in what I can.
FILLISE - I too had no prob staying OP, even the leftovers weren't a prob.
Frog - Keep that attic clean. Don't wait 36 yrs. When I moved what a job doing attic. Did you wonder why you saved some things? I did, altho at the time I must have thought of a good reason. Of course, after all that time some things were collectibles and antiques so they went to the auction gallery. Your poor feet. My dh had arthritis in feet very bad, he said when your feet hurt you hurt all over!
DEB - Ahhhh, a masseuse, I could handle that. I think combining boards for recipes is good. I also think Bio board could carry al little more infom likes/dislikes, atc. Liked the clock running, that's the way time goes!
Mel - Empty nest. It's a wrench when they first fly away, but then you get a routine and it's nice to not have to worry about them getting home by curfew etc. Know I have to rest but know there are things I want to do. But not the tree today a diffident NONO! 31# is great, you'll get that sexy black dress.
J - Wonderful your dd is keeping up w/ friends, I have one for almost 45 years.
BOB - Never heard of DROSTE chocolate. I presume it's SF. U sually HFS?
ROSALIE - Way to go with smaller suit.
ZSU - Wonderful marathoning!! And you stayed OP afterwards, when you could have so easily felt you could "reward" yourself!
LAMAP - Those little jogs are a good start to prove to yourself you could maybe do more!
MOMMA - Yoyur family gave up mashed potatoes? Way to go. I miss them the most!!
ZANNE - Love tomato soup, will have to look up recipe.
Sol - Wow such a commute!!!
Cricket - I never welcomed you to board.
RALYNNE - How neat a dog! I think there might be one in my future! Maybe a poodle.
TV - Great decrease in weight.
MELF - Hope doc gives you some relief.
I think I did it! Take care all. sef

Happy Monday!
It's getting colder here and raining, but the snow is staying much to the north (thank goodness!). We finished our outside holiday lights yesterday before the really cold weather came. Now I have to do the inside.
Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions about my dilemma with holiday traditions. I know we will need to establish what they will be, but as long as our mothers are still with us, each holiday will be different. I'm thankful for the memories I have and will do whatever to make the holidays special for my son--that's the best I can do right now.
Yesterday and today were good, OP, days for me. It feels good to be back on the wagon. I even got in some time on the treadmill tonight. First time in ages!
I'm really impressed with how well everyone is doing--it's great inspiration for me.
Glad to see a post from Solshine -- glad to see your job going well, too.
NANCE - Happy Birthday to you! Hope it's a great day for you with lots of family and love!
Sorry I can't respond to more - time to go pick up my DS from confirmation class.

I am new to this site... Debbie was kind enough to pick me up from the WWW board. My name is Angela. I am 31 years old and from Northern California. I have a husband named Earl, and two little boys Trea (age 7) and Ryan (age 5). I work as a Regional Vice President for an insurance related business.
I have been on a diet most of my life.... of late, I have done the low carb thing for the past two years. Although I haven't lost any weight to speak of, I have maintained my weight. The problem with Atkins is you get so sick of meat, cheese & eggs that you go crazy. With Carb Addicts, too much of the reward meal could lead you in to TROUBLE. So, as with every year, I try focus on my weight even more before the holidays start. I missed Halloween and hence gained about 3 pounds from tooooooo much candy! So, I started the week before Thanksgiving.
This week was pretty easy for me. I am down two pounds. The hardest thing for me to deal with is that moment when I walk in the door from work and feel like I could eat the whole refrigerator in one big CHOMPPP!
My goal this week is to start some exercise... nothing to big but a little bit a few times a week to give me that jump start.
Thanks for letting me join the board, I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Evening All:wave:
So nice to see all these posts today!
I got quite a bit done in the 4th bedroom (where the computer is), not that you can readily notice it, but went through a lot of papers and threw stuff away. I have a bad habit of keeping reciepts with the idea that I will cross off the charges as they come in each month on my MC bill-let's just say I was shredding 1990 reciepts today. I did most of the 91 over the weekend, but found the beginning of the year batch that I'll do. Trying to get that room tidied up, it's a wreck-lots of Ebay stuff that I have in there-and I haven't done it in 2 years now! Have to get back in to it after the New Year.
Speaking of New Year. I've given a lot of thought about some NY RESOLUTIONS and besides hiding the scale and only weighing once a week. I am going to focus on getting my house in order and KEEPING IT THAT WAY! Anyone who know's me will say 'yeah, right!" I'm a product of my Mother and that apple didn't fall far from the tree. My house is cluttered and I don't put things away when I get home and they tend to pile up (like papers). I get so easily bored with doing things, I don't have the concentration to stick with something for long-it amazes me how I've stuck with SB this long!!! Anyhow, that's one of my NY RESOLUTIONS. I'm going to come up with a couple more and work on them for the next year.
TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I will be home, so as long as the computer is free from children, I'll be there and I hope you'll be able to join us this week.
NASCAR, glad to see your post. Sounds like you def. got some shopping done. The biggest OUTLET MALL is down here and I dare not go near it on the weekends. My parents went and they said it was a zoo. Glad to hear you're back on track today-I'm sure damage control for the weekend and TG is minimal.
BIGK, what a wonderful family you have to forego the potatoes! Those CANES are really doing well this year-too bad the Dolphins can't follow suit:rolleyes: I like shopping in Orlando too-did you go to the BELZ OUTLET MALL? Did you get in your walk today? I'm glad you liked the MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY posting and that not only did it inspire you, but all the walking talk on the board did too:) I commend you for being able to have thrown away the scale-wish I could, but I have such a love/hate relationship with mine!
ZANNE, glad to hear the party went really well. CONGRATS on another 3lbs down-WOO HOO! Guess those 2 little things you ate at the party didn't do any damage. If you only do things like that once in a blue moon and hop right back on, you'll be fine. Eli keeps telling me the same thing and trying to get me to eat something, a little bite of something, off plan, but I just can't-I know if I have just one bite-I'm a goner for sure! I do envy those who can bounce right back, I'm not one of them, sorry to say.
MEL, WOW, it's been 4 months and you've lost 31lbs-my goodness, that's almost 8lbs a month! It took me 5 months to hit 31lbs and I had more to lose than you did so you REALLY are doing great! Boy, it sounds like we're going to have some sexy babes dressed up for the holidays on this board-black strapless! Wish I had some nice arms to wear sleeveless-not in this lifetime, that's for sure!
SOL, boy, we've missed your posts! Glad to hear the new job is doing fab but I don't envy that commute you have. I'm sure it's not as bad as it would be in Miami, but bad enough for you. I have no patience to sit in a traffic jam-meaning, should I ever get a job locally, it better be REALLY close to home or a job I go in at odd hours. Also glad to hear your back OP, though, don't do it for my arrival, but because you really want to-I take a back seat. THOUGH, if you want, I can bring the traveling DETOX DUNGEON when I come!
CRICKET, good for you for sticking it out and not giving in to old habits. One thing you said bothers me though: I think one thing that made it harder is that even though I have been eating OP, and not much food either, I have not lost weight this week. If you aren't eating enough, this is why you many not be losing-you don't want to do this, so try and make sure you are eating enough.
RALY, glad to see your post:D Even if you can't post a long message, a quickie will do from time-to-time. With being Jewish, I have less time to get my Chanukah shopping done-just 2 weeks to go, I think it is:eek: I shop all year round and when I see something I think the kids will like I buy it and put it away in my "store" (walk-in closet), so come the holiday, I don't have much to buy-thank goodness! What's the new family members name? That's great you saved a dog! Congrats with sticking to your exercise and getting back down there-I'm sure those jeans will be swimming on your soon!
TV, CONGRATS on hitting a new low. Don't worry that you're up a pound, I'm sure the downward trend will continue:) I see when I don't drink my water I tend not to lose as readily as when I do. I guess deep inside I know that the exercise is more vital to me than the eating at this point and if I don't do something "more" than what I was doing before, it won't help me as much, so I try to push myself. I've seen myself go to heights I never expected.
SEF, hope you are feeling better-take it easy, would yah?!? Heck, I moan and groan -too bad the moaning and groaning isn't from Eli:lol: but from feeling my age at times:s: Thanks for your input on the board questions!
MELF, hope the Dr. visit goes well tomorrow. Thanks for your input on the recipe boards.
FROG, I think the shoes I'm wearing are cross trainers. I use to wear only basketball because that's all I could find in black. I go through a pair of shoes every 5 months it seems. I wish they'd make more sneaks in black! I did check out RRS, but I can't see myself buying shoes without trying them on-no matter what the return policy is-I could be a 7 in one shoe, a 7 1/2 in another. You seem to be lucky in that dept., I need to see the shoes, try them on, etc. etc. Hey, but thanks for the tips-you can tell me more when we see each other-we'll compare feet!! LOL!!
KAREN, glad to hear you've had 2 good days being OP-I know you feel better when you know you are doing something good for yourself. WTG on the treadmill too!
ANGELA, an official WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you've joined our close knit group. I personally never did Atkins, didn't even finish reading the book and knew right away it wasn't something I could do for even a day. I know others on the board have been on it, so I'm sure they can relate better, but I've heard the same sentiments from many about the foods. I too couldn't do the reward meal thing either, I'm the kind that if I cheat once, I'm gonna keep running in the wrong direction-not for me. CONGRATS on being down two pounds!!! That's great! As for being famished when you get home, are you able to snack on something mid-afternoon at work to keep you from getting so hungry, or have something ready for when you get home to munch on before dinner, just to tide you over? Don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all here and ready to help any way we can. We're all in this big boat together trying to achieve the same goals!!! Again, welcome!!!
Okay, I'm outta here for tonight. Going to watch the Carol Burnett Special in a minute.
I'll check in tomorrow morning after walk

Back from the gym and the 6 miles to Hades on that TM "thang." It seems as though it takes me twice as long to run the distance indoors. Wed I have a 7 miler and I promise you that I will either get up early or I will come home from work early. Much respect to those of you who exercise on a Tm on a regular basis.
Sore today from massage yesterday, but the aches in the shoulder are MUCH better!
I weighed at work today, hoping that I would be down after running and behaving OP, but I didn't like the results. Hope that it will be down by WIW, which is the only day I honestly count!
OK, now to respond to all y'all!
DEB - Can't let this shoe thing go yet. I won't buy shoes without trying them on either. I usually go a running store, try on the shoes I think I want, then order them from RRS. And one more thing I've been holding back, but I think it's safe to say, and I hope you aren't upset with me ... but I think it's time to for an intervention. It's time to end your black sneaker addiction, time to wean yourself from the black sneaks. I think you should quit cold turkey! Or perhaps you could start with the gray trail runner types. I am going to force some other colored shoes on your feet in Orlando! Sounds like you've been busy in your extra bedroom. I am bad to use my spare as a dumping station. I think if I had more space/room I would just have more clutter.
XYZ - Welcome to the board. I think you will find SB a wonderfully healthy and realistic way of eating (woe) for a lifetime. Hope you enjoy us.
KAREN - Ah snow. Hey! Could ya send some cheese curds our way? Love those things! Go Packers!
SEF - Thanks for the advice about keeping the attic clean. I do worry sometimes that I am parting with things that I should actually be keeping. But the alternative is to live like my IL's who don't get rid of anything. One of these days and with about 25 of our friends we will have to clean out their house. It will take a solid month of hard work, no kidding!
MELF - Sorry to hear that pain is still troubling you. I had such problems with that Rx, it is amazing to me now how much different (better) I am off of it, but I don't have the same need for it so I can go off of it without significant pain. Hope you get some relief soon!
RALY - Nice to see you on the board!
CRICKETT - Hang in there. Sounds like you're doing great.
SOL - hey! You're a busy chick aren't you? Glad you like your job. Looking forward to meeting you and getting really excited now that we are slightly more than a month away! :D We did confirm our hotel plans. We are anticipating arriving late Friday night and staying at the Courtyard at Downtown Disney.
We will be there Fri-Sun nites. We are changing hotels Mon to the Marriot Grand Vista for Mon-Thurs nites. We are planning on leaving O-town on Fri a.m., heading torward NASA if we have time.
MEL - Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the changes you've experienced. They were inspiring.
Well, it's late and I should hit the hay!
Peace,
FROG

How is everyone doing?
It is much later that I really want it to be. I really need to work on getting to bed alot early- I find the getting enough sleep helps the whole weight loss thing. I know that the five or six hours that I get is just not enough. I would like to be able to get seven, but I just hate to go to bed at night and it seems like my works hours are getting early and early. Like tomorrow we have a staff meeting at six. Maybe a nap tomorrow- but I really wanted to get my hair cut and brows done. ( the new me, you know)
I did go to step aeobics today. Had a new instructor so I again really felt like I had two left feet.
Frog Lover- I agree with you about the TM. I had been using one and found that I was really getting pain in the shoulder, so i stopped and went back outside. BUt last week I went to the Y to use on there and realized that the one I was using before wasn't working properly. It seems like it is on permentant incline. It was nice having a good one to use.
Deb when you finish cleaning your computer room you can come across the alley and do mine, OK???
XYZ- Welcome, you have come to the right place for support and encouragement.
I know that I really want to start getting to know all of you, but right now, I am starting to fall asleep- I need to go to bed- so I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Hi everyone
I went to see the Harry Potter movie this evening. I found it rather boring and certainly wouldn't recommend anyone taking little kids to see it - probably give them nightmares, some of the scenes are really gross. I got in a few games of badminton this afternoon but that will be it for this week as I have to work on the other badminton days so I will have to try and get in some other exercise. I have a pile of videos sitting idle so I should get working on them soon.
Nance - HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Lamap - Glad to see that the scale is moving in the right direction for you. It's very inspiring to see how far you have come with walking, and now jogging.
Deb - I loved that quote you posted. I'm going to print it out and put it somewhere where I will see it everyday. I agree with what Frog said about the shoes - that no shoes should need to be broken in. My motto these days is if they are not comfortable in the store they will not feel any better when I get them home. If the clerks in the store tries to tell me differently I just ignore them. I think it is fine to combine the Recipe boards. It would certainly make it easier to bring them to the top. I think the BIO board is fine as it is.
Zanne - I like the sound of that tomato soup - I'll have to try it soon.
Mel - Thirty one pounds in four months is great - I am sure you will get into that sexy black dress for the new year.
Solshine - Glad to hear the new job is going well.
Melf - Hope the doctors visit goes well and you can get some relief from the mouth pain.
Angela - Welcome to the board.
Hi to everyone I've missed and I hope you all have a good SB day.

Thanks for all the welcome's back. I'm glad to see the same people are still on the board. Of course, Deb is still going strong.
Frog Lover- your sure into the running, I can't do that. It's to hard for me to breathe, with my exercise enduced asthma. The Doctor says it's from my allergies, so I use the stair machine and lift weights. I get quite a workout from that 3x's a week.
My doggy's name is Taz, my son named him after his old alaskan malamute that died two years ago and yes we have another malamute. That's been hard for my son, so I thought it best to finally get another one.
Well everyone take care, I won't make chat I have school tonight.

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:
Got in from doing my 4.5 miles, no great time breakers, had to take it a little easy today, upper thigh where it meets my rear is aching. Was going to just walk, but did 18 jogs within the walking. Tomorrow for sure, I'm walking-will try to get rid of this ache.
Scale is up another 1/2lb, so that's 1.5lbs up from my lowest, not fretting though, thought it would be worse. I know it's due to TOM and not something I've done.
Todays is TUESDAY TIPS and I thought I'd pass along the info I found on this new book. I haven't seen a copy of it, but as I know many of you are using Splenda in your baking, I thought this may be of interest to some of you:
The book is titled: Unbelievable Desserts With Splenda: Sweet Treats Low in Sugar, Fat and Calories by Marlene Koch. Here's a link to AMAZON.COM so you can read a bit more about it. Has anyone seen this book yet???
FROG, I'm with you on the TM, can't stand it-only when it's terrible weather and I can't go out for a walk do I wish I had one, but otherwise, it's not for me. I'll take going out and smelling the car exhausts, dog crap and sewer smells any day! I really don't think my shoes are the problem, more like the socks. I bought new ones, thick and sorta stiff and I think these were more the problem until they softened up in the wash a bit. I didn't get blisters like I did when I bought the first pair. I've NEVER bought a pair of sneaks and not have a blister, never! Ummm, I do have a pair of white sneaks, they've never seen the light of day either-love the style, hate the color. Sorry, I don't think you'll change me that easily-I'd definitely opt for gray/black sneaks, as long as they are mid-tops, but old habits are hard to break;) Does that mean we'll be shopping in Orlando????:spin: Don't I only WISH that my 4th bedroom was the only place I dumped crap-my problem is it's in the kitchen, dining room, family room AND the 4th bedroom-I need to get one place to dump my crap and then work from there-something I will be working on this coming year. Just think what life would be like if I had an attic and/or basement:eek:
LAMAP, did you get a new doo and a plucking today? Hope you found the time to pamper yourself! Would just LOVE to come clean your room, just as soon as I finish mine (meaning, don't hold your breath!!!)
ROSALIE, glad you liked the quote-I thought is was an especially good one:) When I try on shoes, they are definitely comfortable in the store, but I guess once you start to wear them, and use them for walking 4.5 miles right away without wearing them a bit around the house and small distances of walking, they are going to need some breaking in, I would think. Thanks for your input on the boards-always appreciate your 2 cents:)
RALY, what a cute name for the new member of the family. How old is TAZ? I'm sure your son is loving him!!!:D
NANCE, I hope you have a wonderful birthday today!!! Does Dan and the kids have any big plans you know about for you??? {{{HUGS}}}
TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope to see many of you there. Can't get by without reminding you that tomorrow is WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and to wish you all good luck with the scale:D
BTW, what do you all think about maybe making TUESDAYS our TUESDAY TIPS & FACTS and make FRIDAY FUN FRIDAYS or FRIDAY FUNNIES where instead of doing FRIDAY FACTS, do something a bit more light hearted, like jokes or cartoons posted-something fun to end the (work) week with. Any thoughts?
Gotta run, may go down to the NIKE OUTLET today.
Have a great one!

HiHo all!!
Not one of Louisiana's better days! Dreary, then a little sun, and back to drear!
I had a pleasant surprise, a lady I have become friendly with, and is a native, wanted to give me a tour of New Orleans for my birthday. She thought it was this month. We were going to do it this week, but you know how it is to get schedules together and also the weather. So we will do it another time.
I just thought that was so nice of her, we haven't been friends that long and she knows I'm new here, we had been talking and I said I had not really seen that much of N.O. She remembered and made the offer.
But we are getting together Thursday night to go to the community theater. They have a dress rehearsal before each show and it is open to seniors free of charge.
Although I have made many acquaintances here I have not found anyone that I could make a good friend. Lois likes crafts, Scrabble, movies and is very nice. We are Mutt and Jeff but that's okay!
KAREN - Talk of cold and snow this time of year really invokes thoughts of Christmas. I can't get use to a green one! We dodge the rain to put up decorations.
XYZ - Welcome. You have come to a nice, cozy and caring place. You will find support and information.
DEB - Our cleaning lady! Be glad you don't have an attic or cellar! It would only entail hoarding more junk/stuff or if you prefer....treasures! Then comes the time to clean out! Unless you wait long enough and your 50 y/o kids have to do it for you!
I think I mentioned my dh had this thing.......you save it for seven years and if you don't use it, you save it for seven more!!! So you know I had STUFF/JUNK!!!!
FROG - I always feel like my feet are going out from underneath me on a TM. Also a TM stress test is no fun! A tech stood behind me so I didn't fall flat on my face.
When we emptied my attic, it took three of us several hours. We put it all in the garge so I could sort through it. I felt like one of those old characters you read about. When they die the authorities find stacks of stuff in the house/apartment with only a narrow path from one place to another. That was me! A narrow path, to the tool room. I could hardly shut the over head door! Get rid of your junk!! One day you may wish you did!
LAMAP - You sound a lot like me. I love the night, have to make myself go to bed. Usually I am abed by 1 or 2a and up at 7:30, which I feel like a slug-a-bed as I used to get up an hour earlier. But now that I am a lady of leisure, I give myself that luxury. Work or not I have always required 5-6 hours of sleep.
ROSALIE - Maybe it's an age thing? My gd (16) and her friend loved the HP movie. Special effects were great they said.
LIZ - Liz you are doing great staying OP in spite of your problems. We often seek comfort food at a time like you're having. Come to us for comfort and support. You'll find prayers here for a comfort of another kind. You will be in mine.
RALYNNE - Like the name Taz, a little different. Malamutes are good dogs. Did I miss something? Is Taz a malmute too? Or another breed? When I was young we had one. He was powerful but loving.
Well, guess I'll balance the bank statement that came. That tree is still an open palette of lights should do something with it!
Take care. Hope to make chat! sef

Deb - Yes, I did the Abslide, (but I have to confess not since). I'm having trouble sticking with the exercise thing. Maybe I need to get hooked up on our exercise board and see if that helps me be more committed. I don't know. I really, really want those tapes to show up, I'm still excited about them and really am committed to giving it my best effort. As for Nancy, I just left a message for her at the Dr's. office. The girl's there didn't even know it was her b-day. I hope she calls me back, I sent her a e-card just in case she doesn't. I really miss her, but I don't want to be to pushy, in case she needs time away.
Sef - Good to hear from you. I'm sorry "arthur" has struck you so badly, but it sounds like you've gotten along a little better as you were able to shop some. Lucky you getting all your Christmas shopping done early. We only have 1 present purchased for my daughter, still have many more to go. I've had to give up all NASDIs and can only take Tylenol which still makes my stomach sore, but doesn't cause problems like the other stuff did. However, the best thing I have found so far for my "arthur" is a glucosamine/msm/chondritin supplement. When I forget to take it, I really can tell.
Tina - Hop back on board, forget what you have done and move forward. I hope Maggie is feeling better.
Melf - I'm going to have to try it.
Susan - Your food sounds delicious! I'm just starting to crack open cook books, maybe by next year I'll actually get a chance to try some new recipies. YUM~
Frog - 2:30 AM That's EARLY! What a run!
Laurie - What an inspiration, now I'm really itching to get my Walk Away the Pounds videos! I don't have the courage to walk in the dark and it's not a fear I really care to try to conquer at this point in my life, but I'm so inspired by your story. I know you can do it, the 5K is in your reach and I know you can achieve it!
Karen - I scooted over in the wagon, so I know there's room for both you and Tina. Most of us have had to deal with stress/emotional eating. I still battle with it, especially during the peak stress times at work.
BOB - Glad you had a good Turkey Day.
Rosalie - How did you like the Harry Potter movie? Your apple crisp looks wonderful, I really want to start trying to bake some of this stuff. Another friend is getting married in a couple weeks. Maybe if I can stay home on the weekends, I can get some cleaning and baking done. Just tossed a roast in the crockpot on high, hopefully it will be ready around 7 for my dinner.
zsuzsuu - Great job on the marathon! The longer your are off the sugar, the more retaliation your stomach will give you when you do eat it.
Zanne, Nascar Girl - Hi
BkMomma - Hi. There's so much football going on, I may have to choose a team and start cheering for someone. I'm sure all you girl's can tell me what teams to watch. I need to learn this game for sure, so I can teach my son!
Merilis - 31lbs! You go Girl! That black dress will be on your body in no time!
Solshine - So good to see you!
Crickett - You can make it! Be proud of yourself, you have
Raylene - Hello there stranger!
TV - Hello and congrats on the new all time low!
If I missed anyone I'm sorry, I still have 2 more pages to catch up on, but probably won't be able to touch it for a few days.. Hope you all have a teriffic week! Looking forward to the Pat Benatar concert on Friday. My DH has a really bad cold, I really hope he's better by then. I'd have to be in a hospital bed to miss this one, I think I know every one of her songs! I grew up listening to her and absolutley can't believe I have tickets to her concert!

Hey everyone - hope it's a good Tuesday for you!
Another day OP and another day I made it to the treadmill. It really does feel good to be back into this WOE again!
Frog - Do you want those cheese curds plain or deep fried? (Deep fried is the best!) Let's hope Farve can stop being so erratic and settle down and take the team to the playoffs!
Angela - Welcome to the board. This is a great group of women always ready to help and support your efforts!
Lamap - I read in my health magazine that a study shows a connection between lack of sleep and insulin resistance. The less sleep participants got, the less able their bodies were to process the insulin. Food for thought.
Don't think I will be able to stop in for chat. NYPD Blue shows here at that time, so I will be glued to the TV - sorry!
Good luck to everyone for WIW. I won't be posting my numbers, but I know I will have lost a few of the pounds I had put back on. Still have a ways to go before I get back to where I was, but I will keep plugging away at it!

Quick post...
Did anyone see the Carol Burnett Special last night? If so, it's sad to say, but TIM CONWAY has nice legs than I do!!!
LIZ, sorry to hear you're having trouble-please know that if you need an ear, I'm here :)
TV, you are so talented! :)
SEF, that lady sounds sweet-what a nice offer and gesture. If I did have a attic and/or a basement, maybe I'd be more organized since I have more roo?:?: Okay, who am I trying to kid! I think my valid reason for being messy is I don't even have a garage anymore-it's a family room-is that a good reason?
LDBLOND, hope NANCE is having a good bday-hopefully she'll make it on the board and see that we are all wishing her well. I'm sure Dan planned something for her to do for her bday. Hope you hear from her soon:) It's hard to get into an exercise routine, but if you just push yourself to do so each day then you will look forward to doing it and miss it if you don't-it's just hard at the beginning.
BOB, thanks for posting about FF, I forgot all about it, only missed about 15 minutes. Michael was asking about you today-wants to know when you are coming down!
KAREN, kudos to you for another day of being OP and doing the TM:)
I'm headed to see if anyone shows up for chat. Here's the link to the room:

Good evening all
Boy what a rat race day. Went from work to get my do and plucking and then home and then quick trip to the vet to drop off something, and home for a quick bite to eat and nap and then got called back to work for an emergency then to water aerobics and then to a local high school soccer game. Now I am pooped.
May be toniight I will just be able to get to bed before 1:00. and atleast I don't have to be to work till 7.
Liz, please know that there is great support for all things found here on the board, you will never be alone.
Frog- you and Deb have been talking about shoes alot. I need to go shopping for a new pair. I hate doing that, but the ones I have are too big. The arn't worn out just too big and I think that is why I might be getting some aches in my feet. But I guess that I should be glad.
Sef--what a wonderful story about meeting someone that could be a friend. That seems to be something really rare these days, everyone is too busy to be friends. Except when you have a great bunch of determined women like us.
Karen- I have to agree with the thoughts about not getting enough sleep. Seems like I gain a pound or two when I don't get a good night sleep- or enough sleep. I guess the body really needs to recharge itself. THat would be interesting to note on my graph and see just how related they are.
Deb- I understand that if you take time to clean over hee, then the board as a whole would suffer- so I'll let you off the hook for the weight loss cause.
Well, I need to go to bed and get ready for tomorrow.
Have a great day and good luck for WIW.

Good Wednesday Morning:wave:
IT'S WEIGH IN WEDENSDAY TODAY!!!!! lest you forget! I'm not posting any losses this week, up 1 1/2lbs from my low-but happily still within my cushion:) I hope you all have good news when stepping on the metal monster today:D If you'd like to post your WIW info on the WEEKLY WEIGH IN BOARD just click the link below to get to the board:
I'm tired, I can feel it big-time in my body. I am dressed to go walk, but have no desire, so reluctantly, I am taking the day off today. I could push myself but I lack the effort to do so. I feel like I could just climb right back in bed and go back to sleep. Guess I'll get ready to hop in the shower so we can get on with our day.
The POLL shows so far that we all seem to of had a good TG without going overboard-though 22 of us isn't the whole board, would love for everyone to take it to see all the results. Would be nice to see the same thing after Xmas. Last weeks poll shows a lot of optimism-no one put that they thought they'd gain, which is great-esp. if no one does!!:D
Thanks to FROG & NASCAR for coming to chat last night:)
LAMAP, def. sounds like you were running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Thanks so much for letting me off the hook with cleaning-can I get the same reprive for my own house????
BUSDEB, CONGRATS! Another 2lb loss, during the holiday-what a great bit of news that is!!!!!!!!

Hi all! Thought I'd pop in to report. I'm back on the wagon! Scales showed a 2 pound loss from the weekend, but I'm still up 1/2 from my lowest. But I'm happy considering all that I ate over TG holidays.:) Spent a good portion of the evening at the dr. with Maggie. Her mysterious fever returned yesterday and was 103.4 by the time we got in to the dr. Blood work and urinalysis (sp?) showed nothing. They're doing a blood culture that I'll have to call about tomorrow, but he feels like it's viral. So nothing to do but wait it out. When the fever is down she feels fine, so she's home with Daddy today. Thanks for everyone's concern about her.
jred: How do you like the weather? Did y'all get any ice or snow. We're just extremely wet and cold here.
Liz: Hang in there. We're praying for you.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY NANCE!!
WELCOME to all the newbies. You'll find a wealth of info and support here.
Sorry I didn't get to everyone. I hear the pitter patter (more like stomp stomp) of 3rd grade feet coming to class.:dizzy:

I was hoping for a little better, but since I went up a little over the holidays, I'll definately take being back at my lowest point yet!! I only hit 145 last Thursday morning for the first time!!
BusDeb - I was beginning to wonder about you!
Not much time - gotta run

Thank you so much everyone! I am feeling much better today. I has a stomach bug yesterday ,kept OP except for some canned chicken noodle soup. Oh well:rolleyes:. My husband has decided that he wants to move on and we have been having problems for YEARS.I realize that this is going to be hard but what can you do?:( If someone doesn't want to be with you and basically says he wants to find "true love". Whatever. Again thank you so much everyone for the prayers, I know I will be needing them.I also was up 2 lbs this am,but I really think it was the soup full of salt that did it.

Same as last week- ho hum- 175/145/130?, up a pound from my lowest but Ok considering.... Something's going on, cause I had to by MUCH smaller underwear yesterday, just got too uncomfortable to run or even walk! And my "new" jeans are feeling loose, so I'm back to convincing myself it's all the weight lifting landing on the scale:lol: Except if I keep building more muscle and not losing, I'll never get that dress:(
I fell this morning running- a little white yappy dog flew out of nowhere and scared Cleo (who is at least 5 times that size) who ran in front of me, and I went sailing over my dog, kicked her in the head, and landed ungracefully on the pavement. Luckily, just some bruises and an achey shoulder and stiff neck, but my good nike dryfit spandex got ruined. And Cleo keeps giving me dirty looks for whacking her in the head!
Sorry to miss chat last night, I keep feeling like I'm about to get sick( sore throat, headache) so went up to bed REAL early.
Liz- I keep thinking about you- it seems like you've already faced so much adversity. Maybe staying OP through all this will help you feel that some portion of your life is under your control. Good luck and we are here for you.
Congrats to all the losers and maintainers, let's keep it going for the next month and 1/2!!!
Gotta go,

Hey everyone--I can finally get on the board this week!
But this won't be too long! I've got some work to do this afternoon.
Liz--I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you. I know this has got to be tough--especially this time of year. Please turn to us, especially if you need to vent. Also take care of yourself.
I did very well over TG--I'm down 4 lbs--back to 239. Not back to my low yet--but just three lbs from it.

Up a pound!
Thought after all the miles I put in would have be down at least a pound! I hope it's just TOM that is doing it to me!
Left work early today so that I could get my 7 miles in today without going to the gym to do them on the TM. Had a decent run time of 1:24, a pace of 12 min miles.
Enjoyed chat last night.
FILLISE, BUSDEB & TV - Great losses you 3!
[B]MEL - Sorry about your fall. I have a scar on my knee from one of those and also ruined the tights! To make matters worse I had no reason for the fall, just a sidewalk snake I guess. Then I got home and realized that my keys had fallen out of my pocket and had to walk back to get them with a stiff and swollen knee! Sounds like you are losing inches! Great!
LIZ - Sorry you are having difficulty. I hope things improve for you. BTW - was that you at chat last night?
TEACH - Glad you're back on the wagon!
DEB - Sometimes an exercise break is a good thing! I watched Carol B the other nite and LMAO!!!
LAMAP - Too big shoes can cause you probs becaue they aren't able to properly support your feet.
KAREN - I'll take those cheese curds any old way I can get them! :D
SEF - New O sounds like a fun trip. Hope you have fun at the performance!
Time to hit the shower and eat some din-din. Hope you all have a great evening.
Peace,
Frog

Evening All:wave:
Got home a little before 4pm today and had been busy in the kitchen doing some recipe testing with some of the new batch of agave syrup that Avis sent me to work with. I made the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE but used frozen mixed berries instead of fresh blues-liked fresh a LOT better, but overall the taste is okay-have to lower the temp and use a little more agave as this new one they are going to be making is less sweet than what Sweet Cactus Farms still has out (once that's used up, it will be this less sweet agave that you'll only be able to get-so stock up!!!). I also made some bran muffins, haven't tried them yet, but they sure look good! Of course, the problem is, I already ate 1/3 of the Blueberry Buckle!
I made so many potty stops today, didn't drink much in the way of water either. Thought I'd be down on the scale, but unfortunately, it seems to be up-so will probably have another gain tomorrow. Not fretting (much).
NASCAR, CONGRATS on this weeks lost and getting back down to your low-now, it's onward and downward:)
MUSIC, CONGRATS to you too! Another 2lbs for you as well-WOO HOO! You'll get that other 1/2 pound off soon and then for you it will also be onward and downward:) Hope Maggie was feeling better when you got home.
TV, CONGRATS on getting back down to your low. Wow, do I see a trend going on here with everyone this week? Just think, another 1/2 pound and then you'll have less than 20lbs to go. For some reason, once you get under that 20lb mark it seems that you get more focused and determined to get there faster than ever before-at least that was what happened to me:) CONGRATS!!!
LIZERY, I'm sorry to hear about what's transpiring in your marriage, esp when you have children involved. I know what you are going through, though I was on the other end of it. Try to stay focused on your WOE, it's easy to let yourself drown your sorrows in food-I use to, but now, since being on SB, when I get upset and stressed, I don't fall into that sugar rut anymore. Really, don't hesitate to let us know how we can help you out, we're not here only for support with this WOE, we'll be supportive in any aspect with anything we can.
MEL, new undies! WOO HOO! That pound is probably just water weight. Don't fret-I'm up too, it's temporary, you know that! OUCH Sorry to hear about you falling "head over heels" over Cleo! I hope you aren't more stiff and bruised up come tomorrow. As for the spandex, guess that will give you a reason to go buy something new and sexier! I had a little yappy dog come after me as well a couple weeks ago-sprayed that little sucker with mace-I love dogs, but didn't know this one or what he was up to as he came towards my ankels. I was more pist about having to stop my walking then his owners letting the little mongrel out without a leash!
FILLISE, WOO HOO! 4lbs! That's wonderful. Only 3 more lbs to get back to your low isn't bad, and it's just around the corner!!!! You'll get there, just think you'll be less come the New Year!!!
FROG, I'm sure you're up due to TOM, I sure as heck am, even though it ended today. Just wait another week or so and I'm sure you'll see that scale start inching it's way back down. How do you "feel." That's important! Also, how long did the Dr. say it would take to get the meds out of your system once you stopped taking them 100%? Great time on your run.:)
Tonight is AMAZING RACE-so I will be glued to the boob-tube. Gotta go figure out what to make Michael for dinner. Seems Lauren ate over where she babysits. She ate frozen pizza there last night. If I tried to feed her that, she'd pull out her PISS & MOAN CLUB CARD and give me an earful-but there, it's okay! Geez, I guess my cookings really sucks worse than ever!!
Have a wonderful evening. I'll check in with you all tomorrow morning.

I'm betting no one else eats this stuff, so I think this is a Deb question:
Can I eat gefilte fish (unsweetened, of course)?
It does have a smidgen of matzoh meal in it:nono: but 0 sugar. I'm trying to figure out how to serve some traditional foods for Hannukah first night without just having to watch everyone else eat:( . I once saw a recipe, so if I were truly dedicated, could make it w/ whole wheat flour, but if you saw the recipe you'd know why I'm not even considering it. It's one of those things you really don't want to know how to make!

Evening ladies!
Well hubby just said I looked good in my Kahaki pants. So that made me feel good! He tries to be supportive. He is rail thin so battling weight is new to him.
Liz - I'm thinking of you! I went through this in '95, same time of the year but you can make it I promise! Feel free to email me anytime! I've been there!

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING!
Just got in from my walk/jog-had my third best time today, 46:43, just 20 seconds slower than my best time-not too shabby. Seems if I try really hard, I'm able to keep myself under 47 minutes:)
My BRAN MUFFINS came out wonderful-even got a two thumbs up from Michael. I'm going to make another batch and increase the agave a little more and then submit one to Avis. I made the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE, came out a a bit too dark and I didn't care for the frozen berries as much as the fresh. I'm going to lower the temp for this recipe. It seems the new agave makes things brown a bit faster, either that or the more agave you use in a recipe that bakes does so-still have to play around with it.
Did anyone see AMAZING RACE last night? Hated that TEAM GUIDO won over the frat brothers-I can't stand those two!!! Tonight is Survivor and Pop Stars-like them both, hard to decide which to watch.
TODAY IS RECIPE DAY and believe it or not, I've already posted my contributions to that board! Got it done early, with no excuses;) There are three of them to check out.
MEL, go for the gefilte fish, I wouldn't worry about it and would probably eat it myself. I have a recipe for CHEESE LATKES if you want, but you could also make some with sweet potato. We aren't at all religious at our home, so I never make anything traditional-e-mail me some things you want to make and I'll look at my book and see what I can find as a sub for you:) I did post a BLINTZ LOAF RECIPE
NASCAR, what a nice compliment your DH gave. It's hard for those without a weight problem to fully understand what those of us who do have one go through-that's one thing that's so great about this board-everyone here fully understands. I bet DH didn't even realize just how far that simple compliment would go:) I'm sure he's very proud of you.
Time for me to take Lauren to school-I'll check in with you all later.
Have a great day!!!

Just noticed this STICKY at the top of the boards that SUZANNE POSTED:
We will upgrade the forum to the latest version on Friday morning. This will mean a short closure of the forum. If all goes well, it will be up and running in about an hour or less, but it could take longer. I will be creating a few custom changes to the forum, so it will not be a standard upgrade. The forum will close at 8am ET.
Just wanted to alert you all so if you try to get on the board tomorrow morning and have trouble, you'll know why:)

Good morning
Sorry I missed WIW, had a hectic day yesterday after working a day shift following a late shift. I got in several games of badminton yesterday. It felt like I had a really good aerobic workout and I'm feeling tired and achy this morning. Going out to the hairdresser this morning then out to a movie and dinner with a gf later. I'm still at 196 pounds, which is one pound less then yesterday so maybe it is a good thing I missed posting yesterday.
Lizery - Sorry to hear of the troubles you are having with your marriage. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Mel - Hope you aren't feeling too sore from the fall. I can empathise with you after the mishap I had with my bike in the summer. It's a real shock to the system apart from any injuries sustained, which I hope aren't too bad.
Have to run. I'm trying to get some laundry done before heading out for most of the day.
Greetings to everyone.

Hello Everyone! It is so far a gorgeous day here--but they say someintese storms are due in tonight. I hope they bring cooler weather so I can wear some of my holiday sweatshirts and sweaters--opps, sold the sweaters. never mind.:^:
TOM is here so I was up a lb this morning--but that was water. My body hoardes it and will release it all by Saturday or Sunday.
I don't know how often I will be able to post in the next few days--I will have house guests for the next week. I'm also going to try to sit with a friend tomorrow whose DH is having triple by-pass surgery.
For some reason food seems to be going well now. I go in spurts--long periods of time when I have no problem staying op and then others when it looks to me like every food in the world is forbidden. Does anyone else go through this? I think getting trhough TG and seeing that I ate well helped. Last year at Christmas all I saw were sweets. This year I am going to try to always have something on hand that is OP, but can be considered a treat so I won't feel deprived. It sure does feel nice to be 30 lbs lighter than I was last Christmas!
Got to go--I've got a big project due for a client and it will take most of the day!

Hi all:wave:
I lost another 1 1/2 lb this last week. Sorry I couldn't post the last couple of days. I've been getting my hubby ready to go to his new job!!!! He left this morning!!!! YAHOO!!!! I am so thankful for all the prayers and support I've received here on this board I don't know what I would do without you all. And my church family to. God answered our prayers in his time and boy is he wonderful! I didn't panic when he didn't get a job right off because I knew god was going to supply it. I know several of you wanted to know the pecan pie recipe that my hubby tried out. He used the recipe off of the back of the Karo Syrup bottle and substituted smuckers sugarfree pancake syrup for the karo and substituted equal for the sugar. I think it turned out great, its a little different from the reg pecan pie but it was good. We toasted the pecans a little bit before we put them in and it was even better. He used the wheat pie crust off of the Oct 2000 recipe board and it was great.
Lizery sorry to hear you are haveing marriage diffaculty but know that we are praying for you and are here for you.
I've lost at least 5 more inches to and boy is my hubby getting excited he wants to buy me some new gowns from Victorias Secret but I told him to wait until I lose the next 20 at least. I didn't take the job I told you all about. My hubby said he would rather that I stay at home for our daughter. And I would rather be here for her. Shes our only child and I want to be with her as much as possible. We had to let one of our cars go back last month but my mom and step-dad had an extra car so they let me have it while my hubby is at work. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have such a great step-dad. Hes the greatest! Hope everyone has a great day and hope the weather gets better here in Louisiana. Its rainy and oh so cold here. We have had lots of rain here and lots of water over the road in places.
Well I better get this posted so I can take a little trip up the road I have been shut up in this house for 3 days now and I have to get out for a little while.
Bye for now!

I just got a call from my DH and the Walk Away the Pounds tapes just arrived! At 157 yesterday, I'm back to my maintained weight, but still having low self esteem, eating poorly and letting stress mandate what goes in my mouth, then feeling gross afterwards! I start the tapes tomorrow morning. I'll tell you everything as it develops and catch up with you over the weekend! Got to get back to my deadline - people want their paychecks.

Hey my friends!!
Yeah - it's me - your once every other month visitor/friend! HAHA! When I got Debbie's e-mail this weekend I figured that I better get back on the board - thanks deb! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to read any posts but I hope to catch up with everyone again soon!
I am happy to report that I have been OP since Monday and I have not cheated ONCE! That is a huge accomplishment for me! I haven't been able to make it past 2 days without cheating in over a year!! After Thanksgiving I was back up to 276.5 which is only 7.5 pounds from my max weight of 284! That's a 50 pound gain of the weight I had lost a little over a year and a half ago. If you remember I had lost 60. Well, I told myself "Self - if you don't get started, by the end of the Christmas Holidays it will ALL be back!" Well, this morning I was at 271.5 - so I'm doing good so far!
I didn't want to get on the board and jinx myself so I tried a few days OP and didn't share it with you. I've failed soooooo many times and I just can't keep myself motivated. But, after one day - I said ok - if I can do 1 day then I can do 2 and so on.... and here I am 4 whole days OP without 1 tiny cheat! :D
So, keep your fingers crossed for me that I can stay strong!! I just hope that I can check in more frequently. Right now I am tutoring for 2 hours after school every day - except Friday. So, by the time I get supper cooked, my own school work done, etc. it's time for bed! I'm wondering when I'll be able to squeeze in some type of exercise. I guess if I can walk on the weekends, it's better than nothing!
DEB: Saw that you are at 120 - that is fabulous! You can write a book on this stuff by now! I think you could be the SB poster child!! I have one question - Now that you've lost this weight - do you have any saggy skin or has walking kept everything pretty firm? I wonder if I ever lose the weight if I will just look like a prune - a big bunch of saggy skin!!! That sounds so bad! HAHA!
SEC BUDS: Season is coming to an end! LSU plays Auburn this weekend and if they win they'll be heading for Atlanta! WOO HOO! We won't make that trip but if they go to a bowl game in Louisiana we may make the trip. Who knows! Funds are always tight around Christmas!!
Well, everyone, I'll check back again soon! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I stay OP! I'm sure I'll make it through the tailgating with no problem! I'm on my way (I hope!);)

Can't get to sleep so here I am. I was in the middle of a long post this aft and then my puter crashed! Argh!
WIW was ok. I'm sitting at my current low of 168. I seem to go up and down but can never get below that--officially anyway. I was at 167 earlier in the week. At least I think I've got my set weight down 10 lbs from what it used to be. I used to hover at 178. It could also be the "pill" cause I'm a weirdo and lose a little weight when I go on them. I'll take it any way I can get it.;)
DS and I are sick AGAIN. I've lost count of how many colds we've had since September. At least he was well enough to go to school today. He's got more energy than me! I'm so sick of being sick!:p
I went to my last swimming class last night and was surprised that the instructor said I could advance to the next level. I was sure I would be in this level for a couple of sessions, at least. I think I'll go back again but not till the spring.
I do need to exercise. The once a week swimming was no where near enough. I felt great afterward, but lost the enthusiasim by the next day. I really want to get back into the habit, so I am shooting at getting on the elliptical, even for just 5 minutes at a time, no matter what, to start. It's gonna take a while to get back up to the half hour I used to do. Even if I can do 5-10 minutes several times a day--better than nothing!
I've been feeling kind of yucky the past few days and I'm really surprised the scale was as low as it was. My weight seemed to be going down without me exercising; I got cocky and started eating a little more, then a little more still of "bad" stuff. Tonight I made myself a singapore sling--Hoped it would kill the cold germs---but could only get 1/3 of it down. It's made with all kinds of really sweet stuff :nono: and my tummy is rebelling. Serves me right and gives me a wake up call to get back on the wagon. Is there room for one more? Saturday is the first of the month (already??!!!!:dizzy: ), so I'm gonna really start keeping track of food, exercise and water (doing poorly there too:( ) Tomorrow will be a kind of detox day.
FRUIT WTG staying OP for 4 in a row. Keep up the good work
LIZ Sorry to hear of your problems. You're in my thoughts. and like others have said, come here any time for anything.
MEL I cringed when I read your description of your fall. Hope you're not hurting to bad
ROSALIE Have you been to Ambrosia to get more Agave recently? It's gone up 30 cents a bottle! They had the dark one when I was there too, but I'm afraid to try it--I'm used to the taste of the light one
DEB You're really baking up a storm! Keeps you from getting into trouble! I hope your recipes are accepted.
CONGRATS to all you "losers". Keep doing what you're doing.
A BIG HI TO EVERYONE ELSE --You're not forgotten! I try to peak at the board every day and all your writings help inspire me and get me to keep trying. The good and the bad. We all have hurdles, but eventually we'll get over them.
I have to scoot. My meds (for allergies) are finally kicking in and I'm getting really sleepy--I've already corrected a lot of booboos!
I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

DUE TO THE PROBLEMS THE BOARD HAD, MY POST FROM THIS MORNING AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WAS ABLE TO GET ON AND POST, THE POSTS ARE NO LONGER THERE:( LUCKILY, I HAD SOME OF IT SAVED, SO HERE YOU GO!!!!
Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:
Just got in from my walk. Only walked my 4.5 miles this morning, no jogging. I woke up to rain and thought I wasn't going to be able to get in my walk, but luckily it stopped before it got too late. Just sitting here cooling down, eating a bran muffin and downing a 1.5 liter bottle of water:)
My friend Debby brought her son over last night so Michael could tutor him in math (her son has an F in that subject) and she about died when she saw me, said I was withering away to nothing. It's not been THAT long since I saw her last, a couple months I guess and maybe a couple pounds, but she kept going on and on-makes me feel weird!
Waiting for a new book to arrive, actually it's an old book, but new for me-yes, another cookbook. Sounded interesting, will let you know if there are any good recipes when I get it:)
Went to sleep last night around 10pm, I couldn't stay up for the life of me! I could of easily slept more this morning-hate when lack of sleep catches up with me and no matter how much I sleep it doesn't seem to be enough.
Has anyone seen MAMA MIA? Eli likes ABBA which is what this musical is based on so I ordered tickets for him for Xmas, though the show isn't until March 28th (picked a Thursday). I heard it was good and I sure hope so, the tickets and all the other costs involved, well, lets just say this is Xmas and Valetines rolled into one! I personally don't like Abba, but I surely couldn't send him to go see it alone!

Introduction
Two of the most popular diet books in recent years (Enter the Zone by Barry Sears and Sugar Busters by H.L. Steward et al) claim that diets too high in carbohydrates (CHOs) lead to high insulin levels which prevent the burning of fat which results in obesity. Foods that produce the highest blood sugar response aka glycemic index (GI), such as carrots, potatoes and parsnips are claimed to be the most dangerous because they are assumed to produce the greatest insulin response. Even some RDs have made similar claims.[1] These authors claim that diets higher in protein and fat and much lower in (CHO) are the key to lowering insulin levels and burning off more body fat. Are they right?
The Pima Paradox
If high CHO diets cause hyperinsulinemia, obesity and type 2 diabetes (NIDDM) how do we explain what is happening to the Pima Indians of Arizona? Pima Indians living in northern Mexico weigh 60-65 pounds less than Pima Indians living Arizona even though the Mexican Pima’s diet consists largely of potatoes and corn tortillas, both high GI foods. The Arizona Pimas eat a Westernized diet with much more protein and fat than their Mexican "cousins." In Arizona, more than half the Pimas develop NIDDM by age 50y whereas in Mexico, NIDDM is rare and afflicts mainly the elderly.[2] If a high-CHO diet containing a lot of high GI foods raises insulin levels and promotes weight gain, why aren’t the high CHO eating Mexican Pimas the ones becoming obese and developing NIDDM? Aside from being inactive, the other factor leading to obesity and NIDDM among AZ Pimas is the relatively high calorie density or energy density (ED) of their diet compared to their Mexican cousins.
Part of the reason for the Pima Paradox, is that the Mexican Pimas are much more active. A single bout of exercise improves insulin resistance for a day or so.[3] Exercise depletes liver and muscle glycogen stores and so these tissues more rapidly take up blood sugar after exercise in order to replenish their glycogen stores. When people are sedentary their muscle glycogen stores are so full they resist the action of insulin because they have no use for blood sugar when their glycogen stores are full and they are not moving. Research also shows the body does not increase caloric intake to account for increased daily activity.[4] This is the main reason more active people are less likely to gain weight and develop insulin resistance and NIDDM.[5]
Genetic differences are not a likely explanation since these two Pima populations arose from the same genetic stock. A study of identical twins showed that there was little difference in ad libitum caloric intake on a high fat or a high CHO diet if the ED of the two diets was the same.[6] The claim that hyperinsulinemia leads to obesity and NIDDM, is also questionable. In fact, it is largely the consumption of excess calories in any form that causes hyperinsulinemia and it is an ED diet coupled with inactivity that leads to excessive caloric intake, obesity and NIDDM. Even though it is claimed that high insulin levels prevent fat burning and promote fat storage, which lead to obesity, it is much more true that obesity leads to insulin resistance and high insulin levels.
Glycemic Index vs. Insulin Score Vs Satiety Index
Glycemic Index does not accurately predict Insulin Score
GI is simply a measure of how high the blood sugar rises in response to a given amount of CHO from various sources compared to a standard food (usually white bread or glucose). For example, carrots and potatoes have about the same high GI as sugar and white bread. However, carrots have only 195 calories per pound and a boiled potato has about 450 calories per pound while bread contains around 1250 calories per pound and sugar contains 1725 calories per pound. So the volume of food must increase dramatically for foods with a lower calorie density to be fed at the same CHO level. Since gastric expansion increases the rate of gastric emptying and CHO can only be absorbed after it leaves the stomach, this methodology creates a bias against lower calorie dense foods. Foods that lead to a higher osmolarity in the stomach can delay gastric emptying and this may also slow their absorption and lower the glycemic response. The reason sports drinks don’t have a high concentration of sugar is that it would delay gastric emptying and slow the absorption of water.
The Insulin Score, (IS) or insulin index, is a measure of insulin output in response to a given caloric amount of various foods. Among foods with little fat or protein, the GI correlates fairly well with the IS. Dietary fat delays gastric emptying so any CHO consumed with a lot of fat usually results in a lower GI but because the fat magnifies the insulin output to a given rise in blood sugar, the IS is generally much higher than would be predicted based on the GI. For example, ice cream with its high fat content and high osmolarity has a fairly low GI, much lower than potatoes, rice or carrots. However, dietary fat greatly magnifies the insulin response to a given amount of CHO so the IS for ice cream is only slightly lower than that of potatoes and actually higher than white rice despite its much lower glycemic index. Dietary protein, like fat, also causes more insulin to be released; foods with no CHO at all cause a fairly substantial insulin response even though they have little effect on blood sugar.[7] It should be clear then that GI does not accurately predict the IS when foods vary considerably in their macronutrient composition and/or ED.
Conclusion
The satiety index (SI) is a relatively new concept that measures how full or satiated people feel after consuming a given calorie load from a variety of foods. It is measured by asking people to rate how satiated they are after a meal and by how much food they will eat after a 2-hour delay after consuming the test food. So a high SI food would leave people more satisfied after eating a set amount of calories and they would also eat less 2 hours later when given something else to eat presumably because they were still less hungry. It seems likely that a diet made up of higher SI foods would likely lead to less hunger and a lower calorie intake. The notion that high GI foods lead to obesity ultimately rests on the assumption that GI equals Satiety Index (SI). It turns out that the highest SI food tested was the potato which is also one of the highest GI foods.[8] Clearly then the presumption that all high GI foods lead to overeating and obesity is not correct. Therefore, the theory that high GI foods invariably lead to excessive insulin output which in turn prevents fat burning and promotes fat storage and obesity is of little scientific merit. In fact, insulin output in response to a meal correlates far better with total calories consumed than it does with the relative GI of the various foods in that meal.

ROSALIE, hope you are less achey today. At least the way you got achey benefits you in a way;) Hope you had a nice dinner with your friend last night-what movie did you go see?
FILLISE, you had me laughing with the selling of the sweaters. Guess it's time to treat yourself to a new one! Hope you enjoy your houseguests!
THUNDER, CONGRATS on another 1.5lbs lost-that's wonderful! And 5 more inches! Your body is wittling itself down, that's for sure. Victoria's Secret with DH-sounds great! Go for it! I think it's wonderful that you have decided to stay home with your daughter if you can. I know you have to make sacrificies, I sure have, but I can tell you, it's worth it, no matter how much I've had to struggle-my kids have never been out a day in their lives of school, nor late and they are good and well behaved teenagers. I do believe my being home has helped that happen. Congrats to hubby too for making a great decision.
LDBLOND, let us know how those new tapes are-I'd be interested in your review of them:) Glad to hear you are back to 157. I hope you can find a reason why you have this low self-esteem, where it's coming from. You're a beautiful woman and you should feel good about yourself and what you've done for yourself.
BOB, okay, what's going on, not a hello, geez, I feel I've become chopped liver!!!!!!!!!
FRUIT, glad to hear you're back on track. I know you can do it, now you have to get back into the mind frame you were in last year when you were doing so well. To answer your question regarding skin...I hope you won't follow in my footsteps. I have sagging skin all over this body from years and years of yo-yo dieting, it's not a pretty sight, trust me. I lie down and see a puddle of skin. I wouldn't wish this for anyone and surely would not want to see anyone else have this problem. I'll never wear shorts of sleeveless tops in my life. Take care of your weight now, you don't want to end up with a body like mine:)
ZANNE, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you get better soon. Lauren is getting sick today, rarely do my kids get a cold, and I don't like it though not much I can do about it, right? Hope you can get into the exercise groove. It's hard to establish a good schedule and desire to do it, but once you do, you'll love it.
Gotta run, getting late-just glad to board is back up again!!!
Oh, here's a pic I got back today:)
Have a great weekend!

Hey ladies!
Yep - I'm posting 2 nights in a row and another day OP! It's a record! :D
ZANNE: Thanks for the encouraging words - hope you feel better soon! I've been feeling pretty blah too. I started allergy shots this summer and once the weather started to change and I get those shots twice a week I've been getting sick pretty often. Then - to add to everything I teach 1st grade and there's nothing like a bunch of kids getting sick, throwing up in your class and putting snot on everything they touch! I'm doomed!!
DEB: Your picture is great! You look awesome! I just can't imagine any saggy skin anywhere on your body! I think you are putting me on! I know that you live in Miami - is that beach near your house? It looks beautiful! As always, thanks for the encouragement - you always have faith in me - I just need to have faith in myself! You are a great friend
Well, we are frying fish and making jambalaya at the LSU game tomorrow but I'm going to bring a chicken salad sandwich on wheat so that I can stay on plan! Wish me luck!
Talk to you ladies on Sunday!

hi girls
it has been 2 months today since i started on this WOE and i have lost 20 POUNDS! in spite of a few food choices that were not so wise last week i still lost! what was really incredible was i fixed a 20 pound turkey for thanksgiving, it really puts the loss in perspective. i can tell in my clothes and have even given away a few too big items, it really feels good. my blood work came back this week too and my doc said to keep doing whatever i am doing. my cholesterol is down to a normal range and my triglycerides too. one of the diabetic tests came back the lowest it has ever been!!!!! this is wonderful, i am hoping to be a normal or close to it weight for my 50th birthday (in oct) i still have greater than 75 lbs to go but i feel for the first time that it is attainable. for every twenty pounds i have decided i deserve a treat, today i had my first set of acrylic nails put on, typing is a little difficult until i get used to my glam nails. next twenty thee will be jewelry involved!
hope everyone is doing well, will be watching football this weekend, should be interesting!
again thanks to everybody for the ideas, recipes and support
this WOE works!!!!!!!!!

Another night I can't get to sleep. Gotta get this body clock back to normal.
I'm feeling better today and vow to do at least 5 minutes on the elliptical tomorrow. The scale was down a pound again this morning. I can't figure it out cause I feel bloated and I think I look bloated. I'm probably losing muscle since I haven't exercised in so long:(
Today was a better day; I ate better and drank a lot more water than I have been lately!:D So here's hoping good habits will come back!
I visited this site yesterday www.justmove.org/home.cfm Actually, it's from the recommended exercise sites here on 3FC's. You can input your exercising and even sign up for a virtual trainer who will send you emails to encourage you. So for those of you that need a little extra push, maybe this would help. I've got my program set to start on Sunday, so we'll see what happens.
DEB You look great. The ocean looks wonderful. We're having unusually mild weather for this time of year, but not as nice as it would be on the beach! We're going to have to start calling you "mom" for the way you take care of us the way you did today, keeping us updated on the forum and sending emails. You really work hard for us all. Thanks. You're an
BIGK YOU GO GIRL!!!! 20 lbs in 2 months!!!! That is wonderful! Keep up the good work. And wow, you made it thru TG with a loss. You're an inspiration.
FRUIT I think posting 2 nights in a row is a record for me too:lol: That's a great idea to plan ahead to bring legal stuff for you to eat at the game. Keep it up.
I'm fairly new here, but I've noticed some people MIA. Is this normal for them? I know I don't always answer everyone, but I do try to read what everyone has written. All you MIA's, YOU ARE MISSED!
Gonna try to hit the hay again.
Nighty night!

HI, What a crazy week. I had a very busy week at work and it kinda got in the way with me and my great plans to workout and even post here. I did so much overtime this week- should take care of the Christmas shopping.
I have to admit that I didn't even weigh in this week cause I knew that my weight went up- more than several pounds- but I really think that it is hormonal and I am hoping that it will go done quickly.
I am looking forward to Sunday: I have nothing planned, a day of rest.
For those of you that keep track: I have changed my e mail address to lamap3@home.com.
Looking forward to getting a chance to try some of the nrew recipes that have been posted lately. The one for the dip comes just a a great time with the parties coming up, take it along and then you know you have a snack that is legal.
Deb, I love the picture. I think that you should work on getting out of the black and pants. You have worked so hard and I know that you are proud of what you have accomplished, so why hide it????
Well, I will be back tomorrow, but I need to hit the pillow now, have a great SATURDAY.

DEB I had a question for you that I forgot on my last post. You had mentioned a while ago about having your shakes in the morning. Did you use the shakes as breakfast? How were/are they a part of your eating plan?? I'm not always wanting to eat early in the morning, but my body is telling me it needs something. I thought maybe I could have a shake/smoothie. If you could briefly explain how it fit into your eating plan and supply a recipe or two, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Now I'm really going to bed!

Morning!
Ok - I'm on a roll! Just wanted to say hello before we head out to the game. Say a prayer that I make it through the day without a cheat - I think I can, I think I can!
Guess what I was in charge of bringing.....the sweets!! HAHA! I offered to bake then realized that my oven was broken! So, I had to go to the store and buy some stuff already baked. Which was more expensive but probably better cause that way I wouldn't have been tempted to lick any spoons! But, those goodies sat in my kitchen all night and I didn't try 1!:D So, if I can do that - I know I can make it through the day without tasting them!
BIGK: Great on the loss! It is such a good feeling when you are successful! We are all proud of you! Keep up the good work - you are an inspiration to us all!
ZANNE: Sucks that you can't sleep! I take tylenol pm EVERY night! I started that after my last miscarriage cause I couldn't sleep. I love it! I'm QUEEN MIA! You are seeing me a lot now but who knows what will happen once Monday comes around!
Well, let me go make my sandwiches for the game! Talk to you ladies tomorrow! GOOD LUCK to all my SEC BUDS!

just finished 2 mile run and 2 miles walk in t-shirt and shorts! Very weird weather for here! I had to buy a new winter coat and now I'm wondering if I'll need it this year- shouldn't say that, it may bring on a blizzard!
Got on the scale this morning, kind of depressed cause I've seen the same # for 2 1/2 weeks now and - tada- 2 pounds gone! I know I'll be up and down a bit before it settles in as my new sticking point, but it sure feels good to see something different that's less instead of more:D
BigK- We're gonna need to change your name to Smaller K soon! Congrats on the 20. That was a big milestone for me as I'm sure it is for you! What you said about the turkey is so right! Sometimes I think about going for a run trying to carry a 30 pound barbel and realize why my knees used to hurt so much when I ran! There's a site (I think jeanette's Dolce Vita ?) that has a picture of 5 pounds of fat on a table and even that is amazing.
Deb- Interesting article, but I don't think some of his conclusions were backed up by the facts he presented. I've read a lot of the original work on the Pima populations and both grops have very high rates of type II diabetes, but the age at onset is different. And the life expectancy of both groups is fairly low. The US group are a reservation population for the most part, with the poverty, alcoholism, and lousy diet associated with most ghetto-ized groups. The Mexican group are mostly highland subsistence farmers, eating a diet of beans, LONG GRAIN rice, corn and chicken. I would think, except for the corn, that the evidence points to what we know for ourselves, that a sugary, white-bread, cheeseburger and alcohol diet coupled with a sedentary lifestyle is what has turned genetic predisposition to reality. And the genetic predisposition has been there since anthroplogists started studying the Pima starting in the 1920's. (End of medical anthropology lecture)
BTW- you look fantastic! Hard to believe your puddly skin stories. Tho I'm starting to think I need a facelift and a tummy tuck:lol: In my dreams- still 1 to get to and through college, and he won't be on any athletic scholarships! Maybe debating (a nice word for arguing) scholarships?
Also- friends of mine(who like ABBA) saw MAMA MIA and loved it- their music was not my cup of tea, so I avoided it, but they all said it wa a great show.
Zanne- Nice to see you back, even if it's at all hours of the night and morning! Hope your body figures out how to get better and sleep!
Thunder- Wow! you're gonna disappear! Sounds like life is looking up for you, I'm glad the job came through and you can stay home. I've done both, went back to work when my dd was 2 and felt I missed so much, but I don't think she suffered for it, just me. I stayed home with ds and just did part-time stuff or business at home stuff- not as idyllic as I thought it would be, but I'd definitly choose the stay home option if I had to do it all over again. I'm glad it worked out the way you wanted.
Frog- you out on a 20 mile run today? or is it "heel the blisters" weekend?
hi lamap, froutloupe, rosalie, bob, everybody else and all you mia lurkers!
Good luck to the football queens today.

Posting again, lost yesterday's post!
Am awaiting light breakfast to come outta the oven, then I'm off to do 14 today. Anticipate it'll take me about 3 slow hours todo, but next week is a taper week so I have that to look forward too.
Ran 4 yesterday but didn't time myself, no pressure needed.
Thursday I came home from work early because I worked out of toen and we finished up early that day. Ended up that my next door neighbor's adult son had a seizure (he has some sort of seizure disorder). They were out in the backyard raking leaves. When he came to he was disoriented and tried to pull hi 300 pound self up with her probably 98 pounds, and he pulled her to the ground in the process. She's 86 y.o. and it broke her hip. He wandered odd, walking past my house down the sidewalk. I saw him go buy, as I was in the front yard putting out the Christmas decs. I didn't know what had happened to her at that time. But a little bit later I heard her calling out his name and my husband's because she knew one of us was home. Thank GOD I heard her. The ambulance came for her and the police went searching for him. He was fine, she went to the hospital where x-rays confirmed her hip is broken. :( She has spent her whole life taking care of this son. She has other children, 5 total. Two I've met and really like, one I've not met, and one I met Thursday and wanted to strangle!! When he got to the house (I called him at this mother's request), he never even got out of the car to see about her. Not even as they rolled the gurney in front his trucl!! I was steaming  ! Like you wouldn't beleive. Then he went on to say some insensitive things about his brother and left him there alone, just about an hour after having a seizure! OMG, I couldn't see straight. I hope this kind and sweet lady who asked me to pray for her and called me her "angel" will NEVER have to return home and can live out her days in a place where people will talk sweetly to her and take care of here instead of vice/versa! She deserves better than her current situation.
Don't have time to post to all. Have been reading and looks as though everyone is doing well. Loved Deb's "gaw-jus" pic. I'm with Mel about the body descrip. I KNOW that Deb's legs are better than Tim Conway's too! Deb, ya gotta practice some positive self-talk girl! You're beautiful inside and out!
I liked BKM's realization about the turkey and her weight loss. Keep im mind that the 20 #'s on the turkey is largely lean meat and bones. Fat, which is likely to be what you've lost, takes up more space than lean meat (meat/muscle is denser than fat), so you've actually lost more volume than what you were looking at on the turkey. How does that make you feel? GREAT huh?
Well, time to put on the running togs, times a waistin'.
Happy Saturday to all!
PEACE,
FROG

Hey Gals!
Hope you are enjoying your Saturday today. Just got home from doing a few garage sales and taking Lauren to the Magnet Fair at the school Michael goes to. She wants to apply for drama-they only take 24 students, so the competition will be fierce-I pray she gets in when she auditions, gosh knows how I am going to handle taking them to 2 different high schools next year!
Scale is up another pound-3.5lbs total from my low-said I wasn't going to fret, trying not to, but not liking this at all-another pound, and heck with fretting, I'll be *****in!!!!!!! My goal for last month was 119, and though I got down to 118.5, at the eom I was 121. This month, the goal lis the same 119-here's hoping!
The picture I posted above was taken TG Day when we went to my Aunt & Uncles in WPB. They live right on the island, about 4-5 houses from the ocean, so we walked down there and just spent some time wave hopping.
Let me tell you WHY I wear black leggings:) First, I love black and feel it hides the fat better. I NEVER wear white, I've only worn a white T-shirt twice in the past 20 years (or more) and they both were just in the past year (one the other day-hated it). SECONDLY the pants I wear, (which I love and are from JCPenney's SJB collection) seem to hold in my jiggling fat that I have on my thighs. Trust me, I don't lie. My thighs look like elephant legs, lots of hanging skin with wrinkles. I can actually pull the skin up quite a few inches-really, it's pretty gross.
FRUIT, you are impressing me with your posts! THIS is the FRUIT I remember of last year-up beat and full of spunk:D Of course I have faith in you-I know you can do it, now you just have to believe what I believe!!!! See above about the pic at the beach, as for the skin, trust me, I'm not lying-never will to you all on this board, unfortunately, tis the truth:(
BIGK, CONGRATS on reaching a wonderful milestone of 20lbs and your 2 month SB ANNIVERSARY! You've done very well and are well on your way to becoming slim and trim;) Wonderful news to hear that your numbers are doing well too-of course your Dr. must be proud of you!!! I'm SURE you will reach your 50th bday goal. What's the treat going to be for yourself then??? How are the other gals at work doing on SB??
ZANNE, CONGRATS on another pound down. Okay, what the heck is a elliptical ???? Thanks for that site link, going to check it out after I do this post. You are so sweet to think so kindly of me. Everyone on this board is so important that it just comes naturally that I want to keep everyone informed-can you imagine someone thinking the board closed down or something like that-of course, I have to keep you all updated!!!;) And yes, it's quite normal for people to drop out of site from about the week before TG and after New Years. If you saw my post a few weeks back, I mentioned this. It's the nature of the beast. Some will come back, others will fall so far off the wagon, get run over and never return, unfortunately. The shakes, I would eat a piece of fruit and then have a shake, good because it's protein and it's good in a pinch. Other times, I may have it for a snack, it's filling enough. Really, there's no "recipe" I just take a cup of milk (I try to get the extra calcium one), about a cup of crushed ice, tsp of coffee extract (or one of your choice) 1 1/2-2 packets Stevia and 1 tsp carob and whip it up in the blender. Sometimes I put a bit of cinnamon in. I also like using vanilla extract, almond, whatever I may have, but mostely like using the coffee flavoring.
LAMAP, I doubt you could of gained that much and whatever it was, like you said, it must be hormonal, I'm sure you didn't eat 3500 calories in excess of what you now eat to gain. I know I haven't and I'm up 3.5lbs from my lowest. I hope you have a restful day tomorrow and treat yourself to some R&R. Thanks for the new e-mail addy, I updated my files. The black pants-see above;) Me out of black-NEVER!!!!! Hey, lucky enough that you all see me in something besides blue jean shirts, that's all I use to wear-now, it's only a few of them. I get comfortable in a certain style and that just seems to grow on me for a while. I'm not enjoying finding clothes that look good on me now, it's not that easy, really, but my black leggings, I have well over 20 pairs!
MEL, congrats on seeing that scale move on down again!!! Thanks for your insight on the article. Like I said, I didn't totally agree with what was being said in it either, but always interesting to read things like this. Thanks for letting me know about MAMA MIA, I heard it was good too, not from anyone I know who saw it though, just reviews-Eli will like the ABBA music, I hope I will find some enjoyment out of it. I hear people get up and dance-at least that sounds fun!
FROG, saw your message yesterday, glad you reposted it. How is the lady doing today? She has a long road to recovery, my GM had this happen to her last year. I hope they have someone who will come take care of her in her home. Doesn't sound like a good situation. Okay, I am going to prove to you that I'm not lying-I will hand you a barf bag first and then show you that my thighs and arms are just as described!!! THEN, you can tell the board that I don't lie and how gawd awful they really are!!!! Deal?
That's it for me, for now at least. Will try to check in this evening sometime, going to go read a little now, got 2 mags in the mail today. I get so many of them that if I don't read them pronto, they pile up and I never get to them.
Here's another pic of me and Eli and me!
Enjoy your weekend!!!

Just got back from my run. 14 miles in 3:49, 12 min mile pace. Doesn't that just sound painfully slow? But that is my pace and I have come to accept that I will probably never run distances of 10 miles or more any faster than that.
My hip flexor (muscle that runs from lower abdomen to top center of thigh) is KILLING ME!! This is a new pain. However I am gald to report that my big right toe is not one giant blister (doesn't look like the big throbbing bulges that Fred Flintstone gets when he gets hurt) , but it was like that last Saturday. I put some "New SKin" on it and I really think that was the ticket. Thanks to DEB for the suggestion.
My next door neighbor's "normal" son (the one who is not sick and not so lazy that he won't get outta the car to see about his mother - still  about that!) stopped by today to say that his mother had made it through the surgery fine (she's at Duke Universtiy Medical Center) and they anticipate a long hospital stay and recovery. They are now trying to come to grips about what to do with the brother. Thankfully it sounds as though the wife of the son who stopped by is encouraging the family NOT to let him live here alone. He really can't take care of himself, even when his mother was there. I am concerned about what he might do living there alone (i.e., burn the house down on accident when trying to cook or something), or that he may have a seizure and seriously injure himself, which has happened before. From a selfish standpoint I would like them to sell the house so that someone will move in and update it. It is a charming house, but looks like an 86 y.o. lives there (big bushes, old car in the drive, mild disrepair, you know the scene). It is sad to see all the family dysfunction unfold as they attempt to make decisions about her care and his. I know the family is going through a tough time.
DH and I are going out to get our tree tonight, first live one in years, and to grab some dinner. I have a small tree that is a good size to put in a hospital room. I think I will decorate it and send it to my neighbor. Her son said he'd make the delivery for me. I will have to do that tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Gonna be a busy Sunday I can tell! But I hope to be able to post to all of you tomorrow afternoon, when I have more time.
Right now I have to get in the shower to wash the "running funk" off and get ready for dinner and decking the halls.
DEB - BTW - LOVE the pic of you and Eli!
Peace,
FROG

Hi everyone
Feeling kind of pooped to-day. Was out yesterday evening to a party and had to get up for work this morning. Will probably hit the sack right after supper and get rested up for work again tomorrow.
I picked up a recipe for Zucchini Latkes in the hairdressers the other day. Came home and made them for lunch - substituting sweet potato for the regular potato, and they were delish. Plan on making them again this evening. I have to get the recipe typed out before I lose it. I'll post it on the board soon.
Zanne - Sorry to hear that you have been sick again - hope you are feeling better soon. I haven't bought any Agave lately but I have just about finished the two bottles I bought previously. I find it rather expenisve to use too often. I've used it in barbecue sauce for spareribs - it replaced the honey in the original recipe and turned out delish. I have to get to Ambrosia soon and restock. I'd like to try the darker one next time to see how it compares.
Debbie - I've seen Mama Mia and thought it was a really good show - but then I do like ABBA's music. My ds, dd and dil also saw it and enjoyed it. I saw a good movie the other day. It was Captain Correlli's Mandolin with Nicholas Cage. A love story set on a Geek island during the last war. That's a great pic of you and Eli.
Frog - You should be proud of being able to run 14 miles, whatever the speed. The most I have ever run is three miles in my younger days when I did a bit of cross country running but have no idea now how long it took me. Now the tootsies probably wouldn't be too happy if I tried to walk three miles.
I'm now going to lie in bed with the newspaper. At least I will be in the right place if I fall asleep.
I posted the recipe - I forgot that I had already typed it up.
Have a good rest of the weekend everyone.
Marie.

Hello All! Hello Newbies!
I've been lurking on the fringes. It's still weird at work. :(
Deb, your shake sounds good!
Zanne - I make a smoothie (I think I got it from Lizery) the night before. Then I can just take it out of the fridge, and go. It's 1/2C NF vanilla yogurt, 1/2C NF milk, 1/2C frozen fruit (unsweetened), and 1 scoop protein powder (2 tblspn). It does tend to thicken overnight. You can use plain yogurt and add some fructose too.
I have this wonderful little blender (Starpower Mini-mixer by JOYCE), that my DM gave me. It's a little taller than a coffee grinder. You have the electrical base, a 12oz container, a lid with a blade, and a lid w/o a blade. So I can re-blend the smoothie by switching lids. I get my smoothie without a lot of fuss or cleanup! I can also use it to grind coffee beans and nuts.
Well, I better go. Congrats to everyone on their losses!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:
Seems there was an outage on the board last night, didn't find out about this til this morning. Poor BOB couldn't get on to post :( and told me there was trouble and then saw the STICKY MESSAGE from Suzannne. Seems all is fine now:)
Went to OUTBACK for dinner last night-it was delicious-had the usual salmon and sweet potato.
Scale is down a little today, but still up 2lbs from my low:rolleyes:
FROG, that was good news to hear about your neighbor making it through the surgery-like you said, she has a long road to recovery now. I hope they take the son and get him into a good assisted living facitiliy. I'm sure taking care of the house will be harder than ever now, so maybe they will think of selling. Just hope if that happens you get good neighbors, one never knows. Did you get your tree? I love the smell of Xmas trees and every morning when I walk by the grocery store now, I get a wonderful wif of the scent from the parking lot where they are selling them. Hey, I can finally say "I'LL SEE YOU NEXT MONTH!!!!"
ROSALIE, you sound like you're burning candles at both ends, a real party animal! Zuchinni latkes sound great, will check it out. I think I have a recipe for them as well, but don't believe they use potato in them-will have to try yours, I love both the sp and zuc! Thanks for your MAMA MIA review-I'm sure I'll end up liking it. Okay, a movie about a GEEK ISLAND? Hmmm, does sound interesting, though more like a comedy! LOL!!! Just had to rib you on that:)
TREE, sounds like a interesting little mixer you have, never heard of it. Sounds like something you could take on a trip, is that right??
BOB, CONGRATS to your team on last night's win. We were thinking of you. We were watching the end of the game waiting for our table at OUTBACK-we're your ears burning????? I'll tell Eli to check his
e-mail this morning, he hasn't been on in a long time. The friends and family day was yesterday, so I'm hoping whatever you needed he can still get for you. Maybe we can find a way to make it half way so we can meet and get you all your goodies if you can't make it down here-any ideas???
Okay gals, I'm outta here, going to get dressed and ready for my walk/run this morning.
Hope you all have a nice Sunday. Please look for the NEW WEEKLY BOARD tomorrow and remember, it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any great words of wisdom, quote, etc., please, try to post them tomorrow.

Good Morning All!
Ate at Longhorn last night and have enough to bring home for lunch today. Then we went to the lot and got a tree. Managed to get all the lights on it, plus some cool candle lights I bought this year. Found a ton of them NIB at the Jr. League thrift store. They had $10.00 price tags, I got 'em for $2.50. They plug into the regular lights, look like a medium height taper and flicker like a candle. It is very old world and I like it. Love that I got the bargain too! :D Also bought some new bead garland there that were also NIB with $7.00 price tags that I bought for $2.00.
The lights are the hardest part. With all the lights I like to put on my tree we are having our own "Festival of Lights" here. All I need is the Menorah and the Dreidel! DEB, VIV and MEL, can y'all hook me up?
DH and I are on our way to Wal-Mart to finish buying some more tree decs so that we can get this finished up and the house clean.
Speaking of bargains, I need a 12-step program for TJ Maxx. I love to buy something in there and then find it on the internet and see how much I saved! Friday I found some red leather hiking type boots, kinda Apres ski and Nordic looking. They are waterproof suede and were calling my name. They're Khombu brand and had a sticker on them that said they were a supplier to the US Ski Team, and being the valiant American that I am, I had to support our Olympic and US Ski teams. ;) Anyway I bought them for $24.99 and found them on the Khombu website for $70.00!! :spin: LOVE it when that happens! And since I am known for my "kewt shuuuz" and I have been named "Queen of SOLE, who else should have red hiking boots? :D
Saw next door neighbor (the son) this morning. Unable to tell if he slept there alone last night. Planning on getting his Mom a poinsetta (sp) today, don't think I have the time to get the tree made. Wal-Mart had some nice plants Friday. Hope they are still there.
Check back after the Wal-Mart adventure!
Peace,
FROG

Hey gals!
As BOB would say: OH MY GAWD!!! What a day for SEC football!!!
The LSU game was AWESOME!:D The tigers had a fabulous game and I made it through the day with just a few minor cheats! Don't worry I'm back on track today! I refuse to blow what I lost this week!
BOB: CONGRATS on the win!! At our game everyone was buzzing about the score before the announcer actually announced the score to the stadium. You know - they always have those guys wearing headsets catching up on all the other scores! Well, when they officially announced it to the crowd everyone went wild! And since LSU won - I guess I'll be seeing you on the field Saturday!! We won't be making the trip to Atlanta - but I am sending in my order for my SUGAR BOWL tickets - heehee! :s: We are already planning the big party over at my house for next weekend! Can't wait!
GATOR: I know that was quite a blow to you Florida fans - Sorry. But, you know - it's like I said to your earlier this season - it's not that people don't like Florida - they just don't like Spurrier that's why everyone cheers when FL loses. We were extremely happy that TN beat y'all yesterday cause we knew we didn't stand a chance in **** of beating you! Florida is the best football team I've seen in a long time - when they played us they were flawless! So, hopefully now we can get our stuff together and get revenge for y'all next weekend! Wish us luck!!
BOB & GATOR: Did y'all happen to see the part of our game after halftime where our band was still performing their halftime show and one of the Auburn coaches and about 6 guys came out onto the field so they can practice their field goal kicking? It was so RUDE! While our band was trying to march off the field they wouldn't even move out of the way - they were actually trying to trip some of the band members. We were so proud cause our band members didn't move one lick - stayed in straight lines, kept on marching and when they passed the football players they would just elbow them. It was unbelievable! One guy actually went onto the field and stood with his legs wide open to try to trip the band! Have y'all ever seen that before!?! Well, after that - I felt really sorry for the Auburn fans because I knew that they would all be treated like crap for something their football team did! Needless to say a friend of mine said that she saw an Auburn van that had a huge tiger tail hanging out of it and someone had lit it on fire. Terrible on our part. Some LSU fans are such *******s! Those fans didn't deserve that! It was just so unprofessional for those coaches to let that happen in the first place. AND - have you ever seen a team get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty before the game even starts? Well, it happened here! Before the game the entire Auburn team went to center field and jumped up and down on the eye of the tiger! Those football players were very immature and unprofessional - everyone was just in shock at what took place. Well, needless to say after the kicker and those players messed with the band Auburn had to kick a field goal in the next quarter and MISSED!! The crowd went wild!! What an *******!! HAHA!
Well, sorry ladies for having to bore you all with football talk - but it was a very exciting day!! See you all later this evening!
DEB: Yes - I did say see you again this evening!! 2 times in one day - I'M BACK!!!!!!

WoW! Can you believe I'm here 3 our of 4 days?
Spent the day at my cousin's yesterday while DH did some renovations for him. Stayed legal except for a tiny piece of cheesecake. Didn't get home till nearly 10:30 last night, but I was determined to meet my goal of 5 minutes on the Elliptical. Put my shorts on and actually did the whole 1/2 hour program!!! :D My speed was slower than it had been when I was last on 2 months ago, but I'm pleased I stayed on for the whole program.
TREE & DEB Thanks for the shake/smoothie info. I'll Have to give them a try.
DEBELLI Here's a link to Norditrack's elliptical section:
www.nordictrack.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/category/nt/category_v4.d2w/report?cgmenbr=153&cgrfnbr=46527&rootcat=46525
We got ours at Sears, so you might have seen them. They are supposed to be gentle on joints. This interested me cause my family has history of arthritis and joint replacements. Plus I used to get pains every time I used the treadmill. I like the elliptical lots better than the treadmill.
FROG When ever I read about your running, my jaw drops in awe. A 12 minute mile average sounds AMAZING to me! I couldn't run as long or as far as you. Sorry your hip flexor is bothering you, but glad your blisters are better.
Sad to hear about your neighbor. Good thing you were out and heard her. Hopefully she'll be put into a nice home after her hip heals. And I hope her dependant son gets into a good place soon...for your sake too. I'd be afraid of him burning down the house too.
ROSALIE This gets to be a busy time of year with parties and all. Just take care of yourself so you don't get too run down. The latke recipe sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.
MEL Glad the scale is moving down for you!
Gotta run. I started this a lot earlier, so I'm sure others have posted in the mean time. I'll try to check back in later. Have a good day!

DEB I thought the friends and family thing was the 12th! :( DANG-IT !!! We'll have to figure out something, nothing I have in your dining room is to give anyone for Christmas, so if you can just shove it further into the corner, maybe we can plan something in Naples for a day.

Debelli- I never thought of bringing the mixer for traveling, but what a great idea, it IS very portable. My DM purchased a weight loss machine, and they threw the mixer in as a gift. She didn't need it, so she gave it to me. :)

Evening All:wave:
Hope you all had a good weekend as it winds itself down. Eli and I did the usual in Broward (I know, we need to get a new schtik)-lunch was great as usual, Carbolite great too:) Went to the JCPenney Outlet at Sawgrass and found my niece the toy I had wanted to get her a lot cheaper-couldn't afford it at the regular price of $30, but ended up paying $18 instead:D
Okay, gotta say HOW 'BOUT THOSE CANES!!!! Can't deny the've done excellent this season!!!! Congrats to all of those who's teams they root for that won this week.
FROG, we are much alike when it comes to bargains, I check the prices of things too and LOVE when I find what a bargain I really got on something-esp. when it comes from a garage sale and it's NEW, that's a real high! Tree sounds gawgus! I've actually made a Chanukah tree in years past for the kids. I took hooks and put them through Chanukah candles, took Chanukah gelt (choc. money) and hot glued the hooks on those, kosher/Hebrew Bazooka Bubble Gum, hooked those babies up and some colored plastic driedles-even found some large type of HAPPY CHANUKAH CONFETTI and DREIDELS and put them on too. Then I strung Chanukah crepe paper around it and since it was a white tree, everything stood out nicely-wasn't tacky at all, actually, kinda cute.
FRUIT, I'm loving the fact that you are so back here with us!!!!:spin: Don't you feel when you get on the board more that it helps you stay more focused? It's like a meeting that you don't have to leave your house to go to. Keep up the great work!!!!:D
ZANNE, doesn't it make you feel more empowered when you come on the board more often-it does for me. I NEVER knew that's what those things were called, I saw one at SEARS yesterday. Are they hard to do??
BOB, Eli never got an e-mail from you, try to resend it. I had to go through his e-mails and delete so many-he had over 400! He gets so much junk it's not funny. Let him know what you needed and he'll see what he can do. I'm sure we can find a time to get together in Naples-and it should be before the Voyager closes!!!!!!!! Will check out your recipe on the board after I post-sounds yummy! A ME place 6 blocks away-you lucky dog! Hmmm, which spice are you talking about. He usually uses regular spices, but we do use ZATAR and SUMAC, not much of the later though. Next time you go, ask if they carry LEBANESE PIZZA SPICES. We had bought some in Vegas years ago and when we went back, they no longer had it and I had already thrown away the container and couldn't find the mfg. Did you buy anything when you went there?
Gotta run-will have the new board up and running tomorrow morning.
Nite, nite!

Hello everyne
Things here are going well. The weekend flies so quickly. But I had a good one. On Firday I had planned to get so walking in, but just needed a nap--which turned into a 3 hour deal. And by then I was suppose to pick my Mom up to go out to eat. Yesterday, I couldn't get out of bed, the alarm went off and usually I am up and ready to go, but I kept laying down and falling back into a deep sleep. Finally got up at 10:00. (Of course may be not getting to bed till 2 and then getting a phone call at 5 minutes to 5 (am) from my dear loving son, he needed a ride home. Went to a party and got left there and didn't want to stay the whole night..) maybe that had something to do with me being so tired. So by the time i got back to bed it was almost 6. SO I guess my body was telling me I needed the rest. Anyway in the afternoon I went with a girlfriend to see the play A Christmas Carol. It was playing in BOB's neck of the woods, at Ringling. It was a very good show. Today, again I tried to get out of bed, but I couldn't drag myself out of bed. But this afternoon, I did get a three mile walk in , and it felt really good. I went four days (cause of working late, and being so tired) without exercise.
Back to the routine tomorrow.
Ok, I need a refresher course. I sometimes have to really think about what some of the initials stand for, but can't come up with anyting for ME, not anything that related to food, spices, ect. (You can guess what I could think of being in the medical profession.)
well, I guess that this was a very special weekend with football, I am glad that some people are very happy for their team. I am sure it will be crazy at work tomorrow, everyone reliving the greatest moments. So what is next???
I need to head to bed, the start of another wonderful week. I hope that we aren't as busy this week. So you all tomorrow,
have a wonderful Monday!!!!!
