I have never followed a structured diet, before I would just quit eating to lose weight so this is very difficult for me. All the rules drive me nuts. But on the other hand I know people who have lost weight using this diet so I am determined. I feel like I am always hungry that could be cravings? I am actually eating more structured meals possibly even more food than I was.

be sure to add in your required snacks. the cravings will go away as your body detoxes itself. I am a picky eater so I dont do all the recipes for south beach. But I fix what I am allowed to eat. Its a wonderful way of life once you get past the 3rd or 4th day. That is what I call the blah day. You feel like crap. That is just withdrawl. What helps me stick to it as I am sure its the same with many others...I dont call it a diet. In my head its a way of life and the way to get to slimmer me.

I started yesterday afternoon, so about 24 hours in. So far I feel okay. I am having to eat more than what's recommended in the plan because I'm nursing, but I'm trying to stick to P1-approved foods only. I'm tracking my calories in fitday. I know if I go under 1,800 I may have supply issues so I'm being careful with that.

Anyway... excited to lose some weight. :) I weighed myself this morning... yeah, like 24 hours was going to make any difference. Oh well, at least I didn't GAIN.

I did have some trouble falling asleep last night, which almost never happens to me. I think it was because I would typically eat something sugary within an hour of going to bed, so I didn't have that high blood sugar to make me sleepy.

Hi. I started this morning. Day 1 is half way over and all is good :)

Veggie Quiche Cups were yummy. I will probably have those every morning until I get sick of them.

I'm a little nervous about all the talk about how bad you feel the first week. It's going to be a busy week at work. I hope I am not affected by the diet too much.

First Question: My Woman's One-a-Day multivitamin has corn starch in it. Is there another vitamin that doesn't?

It's day two for me. No headaches yet :) Feeling quite good actually. I had 2 slices of extra lean turkey bacon and yum! Bacon is one thing I am actually adding to my diet instead of taking it away, lol.

Hi all,

I just started yesterday and so far I feel okay. I unknowingly ate a couple of items that weren't allowed on Phase 1 but I hope that doesn't slow down my progress too much.

I'm looking forward to the support here since I'm really going to need it. Hopefully I'll be able to assist and support others as well.

Cheers,
Kim

Anyone else having a hard time sleeping at night? I figure it's b/c I don't have that high blood sugar making me sleepy. I tossed and turned all night, despite not really feeling "hungry" - I could have eaten, but my tummy wasn't growling or anything, so it wasn't real hunger - I just didn't feel sleepy, or when I did sleep, it wasn't soundly. I was dead tired though... so I think it must be diet related. Anyone else ever have this, and if so, how long did it last?

Heather - I tossed and turned last night too and woke up really early and had a hard time getting any extra sleep this morning. I wasn't hungry at all either.

So tonight I was flipping through my book and saw a recipe for stir fry. Made it. Ate it. Loved it. Realized it was phase 2!!! Ahhh. Crap. Well, all I put in it was chicken, broccoli, red pepper, and soy sauce (one TBS). I think the only problem with it was I has 1 TBS instead of 1/2. I have to be more careful!

So how strict are you guys? Would you start over or just keep moving on and count today as good?

Heather, I can sympathize with you on your sleepless nights, although I believe I can blame mine on menopause. :dizzy: Your sleep problem may be related to this diet, as your body is detoxing and making changes (for the better!). My bet is that this is only a temporary problem and you'll soon be back to getting a good night's sleep in no time, as your body adjusts. ;)

SunBear, that stir-fry sounds like a Phase 1 to me, probably the amount of the soy sauce qualified it as Phase 2, like you said. I wouldn't re-start Phase 1, just continue on. When using soy sauce, try to use the lower sodium ones, as soy sauce is very high in sodium and will cause you to retain water.

:welcome2: KimmieKim!

Sunbear, you were right. The veggie cups are SOOOOOOOO delicious! Next time I will add some herbs and maybe chillies, but I will also eat them until I get sick of it:carrot: Dieting will be so much easier with nice recipes like that.

I have been so good for 8 days, and it shows. I have lost 8 lbs. I have conquered the need for pasta, for potato, and for bread. But I had a job interview today, my teenage daughter is treating me like something the cat brought home and left on the doormat, and I am having a small glass of pinot grigio just to relax and feel like I'm having a treat. For supper, I had salad, leftover steak and lowfat cheese. Please tell me I am not throwing it all away!

I have survived...but did have one slip-up yesterday...One of our contractors at work hosted a brunch for us. The ONLY thing I could eat out of ALL of it was some cubed cheese! [What does that say about our carb-filled lives, huh?]

I did well, except I broke down and had 3 bites of cake. I know--I know--bad, bad, bad...Someone tell me I haven't totally ruined what I worked on for four days!! I've done so well, too. I can see that I have lost some weight, but I don't know how much yet. I'll weigh in the next couple days.

Thanks (in advance) for all the support I KNOW I'll get in this forum!
fondly,
fit

I know the 3 bites of cake haven't undone all the good you've done! Just keep at it, stay on p1 a bit longer if you need to.

I am restarting PI today with a different perspective on it. So wish me luck all. This is a good time for me to restart as I will working so much I won't be able to go the gym for a week or so anyway and that will give me time to get over feeling sluggish and yucky. So away we go. :broc: :carrot: :broc:

Your baby is so beautiful Heather.:bb:

Guys, I would not spend any time worrying about those 3 bites of cake or one glass of wine. You did good, I am afraid to admit that had it been me I would have had the whole piece or maybe more than one glass of wine. Just be careful that you don't trigger those  cravings again.

:dust: to everyone.

The good news is that I kept off the 20 lbs I lost before. :dancer:

Hey ladies! I am at the end of day four. I've been pretty tired lately and have had a slight headache on and off the last few days, but if this is all I have to put up with it is a cake walk! I was so worried after reading some scary stuff online about SB flu, but really I'm just dragging a bit. Looking forward to adding the whole grains though

Tonight I think I proved I am really motivated and on this for good for 2 weeks! I went to the mall after work and was super hungry by the time I left. I picked up a small chili from Wendy's on the way home because I thought I remembered someone saying we could eat that. Anyway, I wanted to open it up in the car but decided I better wait and check when I got home. Sure enough, mixed reviews online, but I think the final say was no Wendy's Chili until phase 3! So I went to the fridge and made veggie burger with lf cheese and green beans :) I am so glad I held out and checked. It felt good to throw the chili away. I am sticking to phase one strictly because I have no interest in prolonging or repeating it!!! LOL.

Sooo.... what is your fav phase one chili recipe??

This is day 4 on the beach:carrot: for My family and I. We love this WOE and it is not hard at all. No headach for me. I do have trouble sleeping sometime tho.
I guess we have less junk in our system that when we use to eat it made us feel sleepy like some of you already said:smug: Off to get my exercise in:running:

Well I just posted this in another thread, but it looks like I'm jumping on into phase 2 now rather than a week from now. Two days ago I pumped 1 ounce less than normal, figured, ok, no big deal... then yesterday it was another 2 ounces less. That's not good. So I think I need to eat more. I had lost 3lbs in the first 3 days which is normal for phase 1 but apparently too rapid, my body was shutting down milk production!

Oh well hopefully things will still work and I won't have terrible cravings.
