Default June Edition of Consumer Reports - Rates Diets and Diet Books

With their wonderful circle ratings. For diets, Volumetrics, Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig were the top three. They also looked at Abs Diet, Sonoma, South Beach and Zone among others. For books, The Best Life Diet stood out the most. There was some general advise for success in losing weight as well as the top three questionable trends.

Pick it up at the library - 3 or 4 pages.

Cheers.. Sue

Great issue! I just read the online version.

eDiets
Zone

Diet Books (ranked in order best to worst)
The Best Life Diet

The whole article includes a lot of information on how they rated the diets, and includes some helpful information on dieting. It's a great issue

WebMD just did a story on this, along with some of the diets' authors responses:

How interesting - I loved Ultra Metabolism!! I wonder why Ornish is ranked so low - too hard? (practically vegetarian and almost 100% whole foods).

*edit* I see - Ornish is ranked low because of 10% fat, well...that does make sense, I personally aim higher than that!

Interesting, so it sounds like they didn't actually have anyone follow the diets? Trust me, follow the JC diet for a couple of months and well you'll see why they have a high drop out rate

Saddly, I have been on many of these. My highest success was on WW but I had trouble maintaining it - always felt guilty if I ate outside my points range after hitting maintenance and then just dropped it totally. The low carbs give me a quick loss, but again, hard to maintain. I tried Best Life diet, but felt like I did not want the stress of following someone else's menus.
