Im down 2 pounds this morning:carrot: so it seems im off to a good (re) start. I cooked ahead a few things yesterday so it would be easy to grab and go and still be on plan. I made stir fry beef and veggies, salmon mini muffins, boiled eggs and cut up celery...i am full speed ahead...
Got to spend time with my grandson yesterday, he is so much better now that he is on meds. He still has the seizures, but he is reacting to stimulus much better, looking at his hands, touching faces, stuff like that. He is a little behind developmentally, like hes not sitting up by himself yet, or crawling, and hes 8 mos. But, he will catch up, the doc is watching him and is pleased with his development.

Hi Jae- great going on your loss.
I had a nice weekend. I have been eating carbs and noticed I am very sluggish I cannot wait to go back on Atkins Wed. I bought a graduation dress this weekend. I will upload pics from graduation so you ladies can see. It is a cute v neck black little dress size medium woohoo. I also had to buy a dress for a conference Saturday. It is a blue and green water pattern.That one is a mock halter. Size 8 !!!! go me lol. I meet with my professor today and am hoping to be ready to bind my thesis by Wednesday. I am praying I dont have to go to school again tomorrow. I should be able to spend tomorrow making minor changes from home. I graduate May 20.

jae, WTG on the 2 lbs. I also had my grandson's yesterday. They are so sweet. I'm glad your GS is getting better. I got to see my GS (11 months) take 4 steps yesterday and then he dropped and crawled.

Well, so far so good. I've been OP. But the water isn't getting drank nor the exercise done. Too much running around. The scale HAD gone down a pound (was SUPER excited) but now it's back up again for some reason. Oh well, I FEEL better and that's the main thing :)

It sounds like you all had a pretty good weekend. I'm still strugling to get back OP. Went out for brunch yesterday and had rice and then also had desert. So far so good for today, evening is the worst time for me. I just can't stop snacking. I'll have to make myself something OP so I don't eat DHs peanuts, I'm like an addict with those.

I didn't see a weekly chat for this week so hope you don't mind if I start it.
I am back doing the low carb thing.....I stopped a year or so ago and have been recently doing Weight Watchers and failed at it once again. I was very successful on the low carb life so I am going to give it a go again. I may modify it a bit from Atkins...allow fruit etc.
I see that Leenie is still here and Brenda! HEY!
Can't wait to catch up with all of you!

Hi Jae- I second being glad Monday is over. I am finishing my Masters in Instructional Technology. Our thesis focuses on professional development being provided for Math teachers. We are looking to see if there is a correlation between teachers self efficacy and students grades. We worked in a district which had a 69 % failure rate on the state assessment tests. It has been a very interesting year and I will miss working with my mentor professor.
Here is to hoping the scale is nice tomorrow. I go back on inductin for another 3 weeks tomorrow.

I'm back from visiting with my daughter and the grandkids. We had a wonderful time playing with grand kids, the whole weekend,all sort of sports from baseball to volley ball and shoot a couple of hoops in the basket ball net.
We didn't see the IN LAWS until Saturday night when SIL took his mom & dad and us out for dinner for Mothers Day.The witch was behaving herself this time,I think she mellowed knowing that her daughter is seriously ill, with several blood clots in her lungs. She was at her DD house most of the time.The only other time we saw them was Sunday evening when they came over and had Italian take out. I had chicken parm. and it was so big that I took it home for Mondays dinner.
Went on the scale this morning and I Maintained after all the food that they had. I usually always gain 2-5 lbs soooo I really happy I stayed the same. Tomorrow I going to try a egg diet for three day,that some of the low carber do,when the scale hasn't moved in some time. I'll let you know if it works.
So all & in all it was a wonderful extended weekend. We came back,late yesterday afternoon and we didn't put the computer on until this morning. While we were down there my daughter hands were hurting her,from joint pain. The doctors don't know what she has. They took blood work 2 1/2 weeks ago and the results haven't come back yet.She can't even cut a tomato for a sandwich.She told me that the pain goes down to her ankles and then travels to here other joints. My stupid S-I-L thinks she acting,needs attention because his sister is ill. My daughter doesn't do things like that I could look in her eyes and see shes really in pain.
Happy to be home again,and don't need to get myself upset. Hopefully her doctor will finally come up with the answer.
Haven't gone though the all of the thread yet,to see what you guys have been up to,but I will hope to post later.

Not too much happening with me these days except still struggling to lose the fat! Still in the same job...still have the same husband :cheer2:
I just have to face facts and accept that carb filled foods are just not meant for me. I do so much better on low carb. I don't feel so darn hungry all the time!
I am going to include fruit though......I just think it is a healthy thing to do. Not like I eat tons of fruit everyday...just talking a piece a day. Today I have an apple. I bought some strawberries last night and will have them with some cottage cheese for breakfast.
How have you been? Anything exciting going on in your world?

I've been hiding for the past few days....I did NOT do good this past weekend, and I haven't been on the treadmill now, for 2 weeks. I'm starting again tomorrow....this time SB style. I'm hoping to loose the 4 lbs I gained this week and then some, lol.

Hi all! I was just wondering if any of you have taken a break with your diets while on vacation??? I'll be taking a little trip in a couple of days and I decided it might be better if I just settle right now that I will be breaking the diet and then starting again when I return. I figure it's better than succumbing to temptation, feeling really bad about it, and then abandoning the diet all together as a result. I just don't think there's any way I can stick with it for this week! I'm going to New York...There's just way too much good food there! :^:

Natalie, when we went on our camping vacation over spring break, I took a little break. I realized that my eating wouldn't be perfect, but I didn't go too over-board. I tried to make sure that I walked a lot and didn't take much junk (except low-cal junk) with us.
I have managed now to get totally back on program with eating. I weighed this morning and am still 147. I'm doing 1400 cal's a day for now until I get this other 2 lbs. back off. Now, if I'd get my lazy butt back on the treadmill I'd be back at my darn goal.
I had planned to walk last night but by 9PM , I was exhausted and went to bed. I slept til 9AM and it was such a great rest that I feel so much better today.

I took a week off last week and didn't gain. But it was hard to get back on track. I just restarted yesterday. I think it resonable to expect your not going to be OP for your holiday So planing to be off plan is a good idea, so you don't feel guilty when it happens.

BB, I did the egg diet for two days on 2 separate occasions while on Atkins. The first time I lost 4 lbs. and kept it off . The second time I didn't lose a thing but that was when I was only a couple lbs. from goal. Good luck. Maybe I should try it again sometime and try to get these other 2 lbs. off.
BB, sorry your DD is feeling ill, I hope they find what is wrong with her and fix it.
jane, Welcome back. I also included WAY more fruit than advised while I was on Atkins, but kept everything else very low carb and it worked well for me. I'm sure everyone is different though, but it just made sense to me.

I finally got off my butt and went for a walk tonite outside , plus walked on the treadmill. DD and I walked a mile to the creek. We have had so much flooding that it was amazing to see the creek twice it's normal width with water rushing so fast it had white caps. It has been raining now for 3 days (in spurts) and we have rain forecasted for 3 more days. Oh, I also got in the floor and did some tummy and leg exercises. I feel like I'm getting back OP now with food AND exercise. Hope I keep it up.

Had a pretty good on plan day, not enough food so i was starving when i got home....made some hot wings that were too hot, Ouch! they bit me back...thats one way to portion control:D

Well today is the first day on the egg diet. Had to scrambled eggs with nothing in them. and 2 c of Herb Tea. Hope to get back to the 150's by the end of the 3 days.
Jane-Welcome:welcome: back to the thread. I wasn't here when you were. I started Atkins last Aug and lost 6 lbs and now I struggling with the 10 lb cruise weight I need to get off. I'm using WW points as a calorie guide. I believe that 1pts=50 cals.,along with my carb counting.Good Luck :goodluck:this time around,and we're here to give you the support and help we all require to lose this weight.
Getup-No hiding, that not fair. Sorry:sorry: about your weight gain,I know is so so easy to gain and so HARD to lose.Wish we could find our balance. Weekends are always harder to stay OP than during the week.Don't know if socializing has anything to do with that.

BB, I actually thought about giving the 2 day egg fast a try again. Not sure if it'd help me much at this time. Oh, I definitely did get hungry when I did it before and it really "cleaned me out" if you KWIM. (my family complains when I do the egg fast because they think I'm being obsessed and unhealthy). I hope you have good luck with the fast.
Ladies we are having so much flooding here. If that creek rises any more, I'll have to decide whether to get on the 2nd floor of our deck or get in the boat. Some areas have already been evacuated. It's pretty scary. We're still under flash flood watch for 3 more days.

Brenda, so far the house is still dry but the yard looks like a marsh and it's still raining.
My DH and DS are both planning to change jobs and go to work for a large drilling company. The supervisor of the company (whom DH is great friends with) came by tonite. He promised them both that they will make double what they are currently making. So , they are both excited and ready to go. I'm gonna miss them, but I must admit, I do look forward to the extra money. I plan to double up on our car payments and get them paid off. They will work 7 days on/7 days off. (12 hr. shifts). The company pays extra expense check for their food and lodging during their work week. They plan to room together in a hotel to save even more. Plus, I think that's a great idea. DH will be too tired to do anything wrong (LOL) and wouldn't dare do anything anyway with DS as his roommate. (LOL). I'm just gonna stay home (like I do now) and collect his paycheck. LOL.
BTW, I trust DH not to mess around with other women. The part I don't trust is his money spending. I'm gonna have him set his checks up direct deposit in my account and give him a little spending allowance. (that is how we do it now). Not a perfect arrangement, but it seems to work OK for us.
My son was amazed that this new company will continue to pay his wages on the weekends he has Army Drill and also keep his pay coming any time he is deployed. He plans to pay off his jeep and dirt bike and then buy himself a house. I was a little afraid that they wouldn't want to hire DS because of his military obligation. But, they said it's Not a Problem, they have several soldiers already working for them.
They have recently had a lot of turnover because several of the men couldn't pass a drug test. Not something they will ever have to worry about with DH or DS.

Morning all.....didn't get a chance to check in yesterday...so busy at work these days.
Doing well.....haven't had a baked chip, pretzel or potato in days! No bread either. So far so good........
Finally moved into a next size down in pants! :carrot: Boy that took forever!
Need to get my bike out this weekend. Mother's day is Sunday and my mother asked me to make potato salad :( Geez! But it is one day....that is how I am taking it this time. Do the best I can because this is a lifetime thing.

I'm a little confused because I'm in the 4th day of induction and yesterday my ketostix was positive but this morning it was negative. What did I do wrong or is this normal. I've been pretty faithful so far the only carbs I allow are 5g a day which I get from my low carb wheat tortilla shell. My jeans fit a lit looser or maybe it's just my imagination! I'm afraid to get on scale just yet.......I plan on waiting until the halfway mark for my mini goal.

The Egg Diet is working I lost 1.5 this morning and its not even weigh-in day. Going to stay on it until Saturday. The only think that I don't like is EGGS EGGS and some more EGGS. But Lily I don't feel hungry at all. So far I only had 1 snack and that was a 9 PM while watching tv. I had a hard boiled egg.
Lily & Brenda- Thanks:thanks: for the well wishes on the Egg Diet. Now that I know there's a program out there that helps with losing weight,I will keep it in mind down the road when the scale doesn't want to budge.
Lily-Big congrats:congrat: on your DH & DS having a better and safer job,with all expenses paid ,thats wonderful. My DH is just the opposite hes a saver and doesn't like to spend money uneccersary.He hit the fan this morning when we decided to get rid of this dell vista. Thinking we had to buy the whole nine yards.

jhiraqua-When you're on the Atkins Induction you have 20 carbs to work with for 2 weeks.Once you go out of induction OWL[onward weight loss] thats when you add 5 extra carbs a week, and if you lost you continue to add additional 5 gram carbs, the next week,but if you gained you must go back to 20gr carbs. BB, WTG on the 1.5 lb. loss, I was ecstatic to finally lose another lb. this morning. I'm back to 146 now. Just one lb. over goal after 10 months of maintenance.
BB, I'm very excited over DH and DS's new jobs. I think me and DD will enjoy having the peaceful, quiet week every other week. LOL. I wish my DH was a penny pincher like yours. Mine is horrible with money, I have to keep him on an allowance. He'll buy the most ridiculous , useless crap if he has extra money. I plan to have our bi-level deck totally restored. That will cost us quite a bit, but it needs it and will increase the value of our home. It is huge and has a huge gazebo in the center of it. Totally, awesome and beautiful when it looks like it should.
I am now totally back on track with eating and exercise. It feels great to pick myself back up and get this wt. back down again. Gotta go get dressed, DH and I are going to pick out DD's B-day gifts today. She'll be 15 this Saturday.

Weigh in today was ok....down another pound. Next week it should be more since that will be a full week of low carb meals....well except for the potato salad this sunday! :hun:
Decided this heat and my hair are not going to make it! I have to get it cut short again. I have a neice that is a hair stylist and I wasn't going to her....long story.....but started to a while ago. She is young but does a pretty good job and I get my hair cut for nothing...I pay for a color...boy did I pay! She has never cut it really short...wonder if she can do it. I am uncomfortable going to her because I am a freak about my hair. It has to be just right or all is wrong with the world. :dizzy: Maybe if I see her at my brothers this weekend I will ask her what she thinks about a short doo.
Today is my cheat day......yes I have a cheat day. But I only cheat on one meal. A couple of my coworkers and I go to lunch on Friday....I never know where we are going. If I just go with one we both behave....so we shall see!

Another busy day today,separating clothes that I don't wear anymore and the ones that fit me.They washing the summer clothes that were stored in the basement for the winter season.
Don't think I have time to go to the senior singers group today.
W-I today and I lost 2-lbs total for this week changed my ticker.Today will be that last day. Funny about this egg diet,I'm not hungry,waiting for the next meal,its just the opposite. Now that you girls mentioned that you heard about this years ago,I knew it sounded familiar.

BB, good job on that egg diet. I thought it was hard to do, but I did do it twice. I may still resort to it again sometime. Right now with just 1 lb. to lose, I'll stick to my low cal. regime and exercise. I know I'll lose it eventually.
DH and I dined out last night. I stuck totally within my cal. limit. Then we went to the Comedy club. Had a good time.
I'm babysitting my 2 little grandsons' today. So, it will be a busy day. The dad brought them over at 7:30 AM and is supposed to pick them up at 7:30PM tonite. I sure wish there was a way to get the 3 yr. old potty trained. Since I only have him 1 day a week, it seems so hopeless. (since there is no consistency when he goes home). I don't know whether I should keep trying or not? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I went back on atkins induction on Wednesday and am back in ketosis today :) I cannot wait to see what I lose this cycle of induction.

I binged big last nite:( :( Im not here to say it was out of my control...i knew exactly what i was doing....sortof....i justified it by saying to myself that i wanted easy food that i didnt have to cook and that i deserved a treat....2 hours later, know what i realized? that for two hours i ate....and was totally zoned out of the real world. i was amazed at this realization. it wasnt about food at all, it was about escape....pure and simple....escape from stress....
it has been a very stressful week, very very stressful. work has been the stressful part. home is fine, me and dh are fine, kids are fine. finacally we are fine. everyone is healthy, well, dh just got diagnosed with diverticulitis, so he is dealing with that, but he went to the doc and got meds so hopefully he will do better soon.
what other ways can i teach myself to "escape" ? i have always used food this way, i just realized this, my whole life..i may need professional help to deal with this...maybe..i dont know...i just so confused and depressed...

Sorry I've been missing. My arm has been hurting (still I should say) and I finally went to the doctor. I've got a strained tricep muscle. So I'm now on pills to help with that. If I can't work it out on my own then they'll send me to therapy. ARGH! Anyway, all is going ok here. OP and almost drinking all my water. Took the past couple days off from exercise--my muscles felt sore so thought I'd give them a chance to recuperate before starting again. I'll try and get back more regularly next week. Jae, I'm sorry you had a rough day yesterday. I also use food for stress sometimes. I had a rather high cal. day yesterday. It was mostly the "i deserve it attitude" after babysitting my 2 grandson's for 13.5 hrs. yesterday. I was wore completely out and made snacky food options that I wouldn't normally eat. (ex. baked cheetos). I skipped my regular exercise because I felt like I'd been on my feet all days (except for the FIVE times when I was on my hands and knees cleaning up spills that they made). I bathed the 11 month old 3 different times and he weighs 25 lbs. Funny thing was I noticed that I don't have any Hips to lug a baby on anymore. LOL.
Brenda, sorry you are having such trouble with your arm. Hope it feels better soon.

Had a very busy Saturday,cleaning out closets,taking winter clothes down stairs and visa versa,bring the summer one upstairs,thats my exercise for the day.Walking up and down the 2 story [second floor to the first and than down to the basement]staircase several times.
I off the egg diet today,and back to normal food. I to stay low on my carbs,so I don't gain what I lost. At B-bacon & eggs L-shrimp salad on bed of lettuce D-Pork chops and veggies. By the way where is the menu thread. Kind of miss it.
Lily-I happy:) that I lost and finally got out of that stall. I'm now heading down the right road again,and will use that E/D in the future when I need it.You'll lose:yes: that last pound. You so dedicated to the low carbing,you'll master it shortly. My grand kids all we're two when they we're all potty trained. Offer him some small toy:present: like a car or train. Or give him some pennies when he goes in the potty. That what we did.
Nikki-Glad that you'll be able to join us again. I'm sure you will :crossed: lose on the Atkins Inductions. Thats what I doing today and for the rest of the new week.
Jae-Sending some :dust: that you'll be out of that stress:stress: real soon. We/'re all been there,don't beat:frypan: yourself up.Just take it one day at a time,by eating the right foods,exercising and drinking enough water.
Brenda-Sorry:sorry:about your trecip :lifter:muscle. OUCH!!! That must hurt trying to do anything with your arms. Glad that you went to the doctor,and hope everything will be on the mend soon.By all means DON"T exercise :exercise: until the doctor tells you to do so.

Hi ladies, I was very successful yesterday with the potty training on my grandson. I only hope his dad continues with it, because he is definitely ready to learn and did great for me.
DD and I spent the day (DD's B-day) shopping today. I let her get some new clothes, shoes, purse and some jewelry plus she got a cell phone. She was very happy. She wanted cup cakes instead of her usual B-day cake. So, I baked them and sent half of them over to our neighbors (that have 3 kids) so there won't be any left here to munch on for several days. Lacy has a friend spending the night so we rented the girls some movies to watch.
I bought myself some capris that were on sale (2 pr.) and it felt so good to see that I still wear the exact same size as I did when I started maintenance last summer. I just love shopping now.

Happy Mother Day Ladies:)
Went out with my friends for brunch and than homeward bound as its going to a washout up on the Cape.I'm planing to be a lady of leisure,maybe we'll watch a movie or two. Its cold and damp and I put all my winter[warm] clothes away and have the summer ones in my closet.Have to find a cardigan to put over my lite outfit.That was this morning and now the sun is shining and we planning to have our BBQ this evening.
We didn't going any where today. Leo is going to take me out next weekend as its too crowded. The restaurants we go to for brunch let is linger after the meal,but today they want you in and out.
After going out with my friends to brunch. My DD called & than right after my DS called. They're both going out to Fridays for lunch,and than back to my DD's for a swim. DD opened her pool on Wed,so it will be ready for Mother Day.Wish we were there as
Its hard to be away from the children, and grandkids,especially around the holidays, but there was no way we could afford to live in NY anymore.
Computer is going to be off some time tomorrow as we are dumping the Vista for a new Mac.It should be coming some time tomorrow by the Fed Ex. truck. Have not idea when Fed Ex delivers in our area.

Happy Mother's Day , ladies. My DH cooked my breakfast, then he cleaned the kitchen and the living room spotlessly clean. He wanted to pick me out clothes for Mothers Day but was worried I wouldn't like them. So, he sent my kids to go shopping for to get me some new clothes. I love clothes and always enjoy getting new ones. My DD shops with me enough that I'm sure she'll find stuff I like and in the right sizes. DH and DS tend to buy clothes that are too big for me now. They can't grasp the whole "vanity sizing" thing. LOL.
BB,I'm having a day of leisure also. I just awoke from a 3 hr. nap. LOL.

One of the reasons I want to lose weight is so I can have a baby. I could have one now but I'm just not in good enough shape. I never have any energy, and I get tired after about 5 seconds of holding my sisters baby.
I'M still Op Today ( ate some peanuts yesterday:rolleyes: ) I got some flavored water today, sweetened with splenda. I hope this will help me with my water intake. Still no loss:?: . But I put on some pants I haven't worn since Cristmas and they where so big I couldn't wear them, so that made me feel better. I think I'll keep them and put them on when I feel discouraged:yay: .
