WOMEN

They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh
when they are nervous
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when
they believe there is a better solution.

They go without new shoes so their
children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and
cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a
birth or a new marriage.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family
member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a
broken heart.

Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail
you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL WOMEN MONTH!

IT'S GOOD TO BE THE WOMAN.

We got off the Titanic first.

We can scare male bosses with mysterious
gynaecological disorder excuses.

Taxis stop for us.

We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.

No fashion faux pas we make could ever
rival The Speedo.

We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.

If we forget to shave, no one has to know.

We can congratulate our teammate without
ever touching her rear.

We never have to reach down every so often
to make sure our privates are still there.

We have the ability to dress ourselves.

We can talk to people of the opposite sex
without having to picture them naked.

If we marry someone 20 years younger,
we're aware that we look like an idiot.

There are times when chocolate really can
solve all your problems.

We'll never regret piercing our ears.

We can fully assess a person just by
looking at their shoes.

We can make comments about how silly men
are in their presence, because they aren't listening
anyway.

I bought the wrong kind of milk for the pie-sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk. It's VERY sweet-but it is a good recipe if you use the right ingredients. I may go buy a pie at the supermarket. And I made 2 of them. On top of that-7 of my checks to pay bills are lost-I sent them out on 11/6-the same day as my fender-bender. Luckily 2 credit cards are not going to charge e interest. But the yoga class was great. I'm going into a coocoon for a while. I'll feel better in the morning!!!!Mima

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DEAR CANDICE
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU!

(sorry it's late!)

Here's a recipe of mine (that my family MUST have every Thanksgiving and Christmas and anytime inbetween they can get me to make it!). I figured the points using the WW online recipe builder...I can't believe it is ONLY 2 POINTS a serving...and 1/2 cup serving of this is A LOT!

strawberry salad

servings | 25
POINTS per serving | 2
course | side dishes

Ingredients

1 can Eagle Brand Milk (lite)
2 cup(s) (1 can) canned pineapple, packed in juice
2 cup(s) (1 can) canned strawberries, packed in heavy syrup
16 oz Cool Whip lite whipped topping
1/3 lb(s) walnuts

Instructions

Drain Pineapples
Crush walnuts
Mix all ingredients together.

Special Notes

Makes 25 1/2 cup servings

Happy Anniversary Candice.
And Happy Thanksgiving all.
I have planned to have most of my day to myself tomorrow as my kids are with their Dad, I don't feel like going to friend's houses and I LOVE my alone time.
I will cook a trukey tho...but no gravy and no stuffing.
Got a date tonight guys.
Forget your diets everyone and eat lots of carbs!!!!!!!!

Candicej
11-22-2001, 02:42 AM
Trying to get it together for my meal..I'm not used to cooking so much at once and having just one more makes such a difference. My arm is hurting from putting a leaf in the table!

Turkey Breast with gravy, mashed potatoes, dressing, asparagus, greenbean cass., jellied cranberry, cottage cheese and pineapple w/peach jello salad, Frech baggette bread, spiral sliced smoked honey glazed ham, applesauce, pumpkin cake and brownies! Think that is enough???????? Most of this is made low or no fat too!

Ally..have a good date and :nono: on the carbs!!!;)

Meme..thanks for the recipe, wish I had it sooner!

Joanne..have a good time at your daughters!

Mima..sorry about your bills that is terrible and why so many pies! I make cooking mistakes like that all the time! Just don't cook much anymore!

Hi Happy!

Thanks all for the Anniversay Wishes!

Meme..What kind of pineaple..crushed ot chunks or tidbits and I have never seen canned strawberries...do you mean pie filling??????? Could you give the exact name and size of cans???

MemeToo
11-22-2001, 03:00 AM
Crushed pineapples and the strawberries are the pie filling. If you can find the light kind it would reduce the points...maybe...probably not enough to count much, though...it is already pretty low!!! I drain ALL the liquid off the pineapples...even squeeze them out with my hand...I put the walnuts in a baggie and crush them with a hammer...I only use cool whip...either light or fat free. It is the most delicious salad you've ever eaten. If you like cherries better than strawberries you can use a can of those instead. I love strawberries but I'm not crazy about cherries. The Strawberry Salad will keep in the fridge for nearly a week!

I'm rather proud of myself. Last night we went to a Thanksgiving dinner/service. The church we go to and 3 other churches get together and have a dinner and then a thanksgiving service every year. Another church hosted it this year so we didn't have to do anything except go and eat...at least we weren't SUPPOSED to...I wound up having to play the piano for the whole service plus sing! Anyway... I only had a little turkey, a spoonful of potatoes, a spoonful of dressing, some carrots and green beans. No bread...and I even had water to drink because they didn't have any diet drinks!!! I can't believe I had that much self control...I didn't even have DESSERT!!! Can you believe it???

I have 11 coming for dinner tomorrow.
Daughter is bring the ham, hubby's aunt is bringing a sweet potato cassarole and M-I-L is bringing pumpkin pies & stuffed eggs. I'm making the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac & cheese, cole slaw, strawberry salad, cranberry sauce, rolls, banana pudding, double choc. cake and drinks. We are sooo blessed!!!

I've already figured my points for tomorrow and know what I'm going to eat and NOT eat! I've banked quite a few the last 3 days!

Hope you all have a GREAT thanksgiving!!!

Are you all tired of reading my posts yet???

I just put the ingredients for my "lite" banana pudding in the WW recipe builder and it said it was 4 pts. 1/2 cup serving. That's still not too bad, considering what most desserts are!!! Here it is if you'd like to have it.

banana pudding

servings | 30
POINTS per serving | 4
course | desserts

Ingredients

2 cup(s) Jell-O fat free instant, vanilla pudding, with skim milk
8 oz light sour cream
16 oz Cool Whip Free Whipped Topping
6 large banana(s)
125 small vanilla wafer(s)

Instructions

Prepare 1 small box of jello fat free vanilla pudding as directed using skim milk. Add 8 oz. light sour cream and 16 oz of Kraft "free" cool whip & 1/4 spoonful of vanilla. Mix all ingredients by hand until smooth. Layer 3 qt. cassarole bowl: Nabisco 'Nilla Wafers, bananas & white mixture. Continue to layer about half way up then line the outside of the bowl with wafers "standing up" against the side, continue layering until the top layer which should be wafers.

Special Notes

125 wafers is app. a box and a half.

This recipe makes about 30 - 1/2 cup servings.

You could probably use FF Nilla wafers and cut it down to 3 points.

I'm hungry reading your posts. Daughter called and said she was still vomiting-don't know what I'll do today but I have 2 places to go. I went to an Al-anon meeting-on Gratitude so I made a list this morning-which I usually do anyhow. And everyone was nice that I called about my bills. They are somewhere -just no onwe knows where. I am going to make a pumpkin cream pie this am -going to double check on WW because mine doesn't have specific directions. Mom used to make a pineapple and marshmallows with cream-we loved that. Our tradition is lime jello with pineapple. Very basic. Let's see what today brings. Good day to all.Mima Be a good girl Ally-hahaha

Yes I ate too much yesterday but I won't today. The saga continued-I went to make my pumpkin cream pie but I bought banana cream instead-did get some vanilla pudding from lady across the hall. Pie was delicious but no one ate it.So I took it home. I went to my daughter's boyfriend's mother's house-awesome-she is a millionaire many times over and it was a gorgeous house. I had a beautiful house but.......It was a good day but my Suzanne is still sick. She's going to the doctor today. Hey Ally-move over-I have a date tomorrow night with someone I met at my Christian Singles group and went out with a few times 3 years ago.Boy-I can't tell you how good that makes me feel. I told him I only wanted to be friends-I am going to be away for quite a while. His wife died 4 years ago and then his son was killed 6 months later. We are going out for dinner. And he's 2 years younger than me. And short-and diabetic but takes good care of himself. Hey, the bank put 31,000 into my bank-on-line acct. Should I tell them-Haha!!!I will. See you soon. Mima

Mima, glad you had a good Thanksgiving. A man in your life as well - well don't be like Ally and show him your bloomers

Meme - that Strawberry Salad sounds wonderful and I shall save the recipe and make it at Easter. Are you feeling better, by the way, you haven't really said. How is your computer course coming along. Do you do it by correspondence, or actually take a class?

Ally - How are things going. Hope you are out having fun.

Candice and Joanne - Hi

Well, I FINALY found someplace to live. A brand new condo - I am feeling fortunate in that. I went looking for apts. but I have become a way to fussy over the years. They couldn't DRAG me into some of those places. I looked in one, and left with a raging headache - it was so smokey!!!! The rest, well they are old. Nobody has built a new apartment in the past few years. So when I found this condo, I was so happy. It is 1150 sq. ft. Two bedroom, two baths, large kitchen, dining room and huge living room. All in all, it is very nice. Took possession for Dec. 01, so will make moving a little easier. Can start to take some boxes over anytime after the first of the month, and we will probably make the move on the 08 Dec., and that will give me time to get this place cleaned up for the new people. I had better start packing, but don't want to do it to early, as I will need the stuff I pack. Never fails. May be off line for a few days - hopefully not to long, or I will have withdrawl symptoms:lol:

Candice, I am sorry. I don't think I wished you a happy Anniversary. Hope your day was special. The flowers sound beautiful.

Ally0306
11-23-2001, 07:13 PM
Well, Mima..when it rains, it pours. Men AND money. What more can you want????
Happy.....how is the packing going. Moving is a stressor. Take care of yourself.
It is too bad you can't bottle the hormones etc that come with new love. I feel like I am on a little cloud.... I assume this will all catch up to me but it is indeed nice to have someone paying attention to me.
Still there are those complications, but to be honest I think that will just make this whole thing move slower and I need that.
We can't even get enough free time at the same time in the next couple of weeks to see each other.
I ate a huge turkey sandwich today. The first sandwich i have had in a long time. I went back to work and almost fell asleep at my desk.
ANd then someone brought in someone they thought I might like to be fixed up with.....
What is this?????

Meme..I need details for the recipes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am trying to picutre the banana pudding one with the nilla wafers...ok you put them in the bottom and layer them but is it the very last layer you put them around the outside or what???

Can you use FF sourcream and FF wafers?????????? this sounds so good and the strawberry one wil get made for sure..Keep the recipes coming! Thanks for califying it! Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :o :o :?:

MemeToo
11-24-2001, 05:05 AM
OK...Candice...JUST FOR YOU!!!

Mix up all the "white" stuff. Do the vanilla pudding first beating it for 2 minutes. Then stir the sour cream into that BY HAND...any old kind you want to use! Then Stir the cool whip into that, again...whatever (as long as it is COOL WHIP...I tried a different brand once and it didn't taste as good)! Then add the vanilla. Acutally...when hubby is home...I just make the vanilla pudding and then dump in the sourcream, coolwhip and vanilla and let him stir it all up for me until it is smooth. That's half the battle...that is your "cream" layer.

Here's how I do it. I line the bottom of the bowl with wafers and then add a little skim milk. If you add just a little skim milk on top of each cookie layer the whole pudding comes out moister and softer. My aunt who gave me the recipe doesn't do that and her's is kind of dry. OK...you've got one layer of wafers...now...slice a banana (or one and a half if they are small just however many it takes to cover the wafers.) Then put the cream on top of the bananas and start all over with a layer of wafers and a little milk. When you get 2 or 3 inches from the top (the size of a wafer) go all the way around the sides of the bowl with wafers STANDING THEM UP AGAINST THE SIDES OF THE BOWL on top of the cream...then continue layering. You don't HAVE to do that but it makes it look better when you're finished if you do. The top layer will be of wafers!

I'd send you a picture but mine's GONE already...those don't last long around here. Everybody eats some and then wants some to take home with them! At least I don't have to worry about OD-ing on it that way!!!

Hi everyone! Congrats on finding a condo, Happy. I like your plan about taking your time. I couldn't move in here til the day I moved out of my house. Unbelievable. I didn't sleep the first night because the fibro was so bad-thank God that didn't last. I wrapped all my son's presents to mail and put out some decorations. I'm not putting up my tree this year unless something changes and I have
Christmas. Hey Ally, I remember that feeling.Good luck to you.And to me but this is only a friendship. Nice that I know him already.Well , I'm going to the mall to buy a cell phone. Hi to everyone. Mima

Hi everyone-I had a nice time last night-the last words from him"do you think this relationship can go anywhere?" My response"One day at a time"He wants to visit me in FL. Separate places. We have known each other for 3 years-I went out with him a few times then-but he kept disappearing-You are right Ally-it feels nice. But I only wanted to date. Ate linguini with clam sauce -delicious but it was creamy.Gotta be good.Happy-good thing you've only been there 2 years-I had 27 years of accumulation. My son is moving into his new house next week-he hasn't even packed and he doesn't want me to help him. Cable is off so I think I'll go back to bed.I'm going to the movies today with a girlfriend-Life as a House-anyone see it.? Hi Candice, Joanne, Meme.Mima

Well Mima....men want more than we want. We are a hundred times more resilient and self-sufficient. I love my time alone. That is the scariest part of this. This man in my life cannot stand to be home alone....unless he is watching football and even then he would prefer company.
BUT......I find myself thinking of him all the time too.
Scary, scary.
Gotta quit the Turkey sandwiches, girls. Back to low carb tomorrow.
I got two of those Hormel Peppercorn pork loins today for $2 a piece. They always do this on Sunday.....it's like bargain meat day.

MemeToo
11-25-2001, 06:08 PM
Candice...you can use a mixer to mix up the vanilla pudding and milk for 2 minutes but the other stuff has to be stirred not shaken...oops...I mean mixed! I've done it lots of times before but I stir in a little at a time, that way it isn't so hard. If your hubby ever tasted it I'll bet he'd be glad to stir it for you!!! Mine has never complained yet!

You dating girls GO GO GO...sounds like you are having a ball! This is the perfect time of year for a romance! And romance in your life could only help when you're trying to lose weight and look your best...makes you more aware of yourself! As for where it is leading...it will lead where ever it leads...just have fun now and let the future take care of itself...seems it always has and I'm sure it always will! As my dear departed grandmother used to say, "It'll all come out in the warsh ! (That's North Carolinian for wash!)

What am I playing??? I'm in a Christmas play at church...it's an hour loooooong!!! And I have over 50 parts to memorize. Some of them are almost lectures!

I went to Physical Therapy this morning...felt soooo good. I got the same therapist I had 8 years ago when I used to go 3 times a week. She is the absolute best! She did a massage and worked on my pressure points, then did the ultra sound heat thing and then packed my back, neck and shoulders in the deep heat wraps for 20 minutes. She said she told everybody she remembered me from years ago and I had the hardest knots in my shoulders and back of anyone who had ever come through there. Then after she started working on me she said, "It's even worse than I remember...you don't have muscles...you have rocks! " I'm going back next Monday. She wanted me to come back on Friday but I have Jenna. Maybe next week I can get in two treatments.

Then I ran home, cleaned the piano room, ate a bite of lunch and have to give a piano lesson at 1, another at 2, pick up Ross at 3...run home and cook dinner...start teaching again at 5 and teach until 7:30 tonight. We were going to try to put up the tree tonight but I don't think I can...I'm already pooped plus I have a rotton cold! (Hubby just had to share his with me!!!)

Ally- Sounds like you are getting interested?? As long as you are happy that's the thing.
Meme- I wish I had your therapist about now.. I walked with my sister yesterday and hit a uneven place in the sidewalk and went down like a tree. Got a few bruises and scrapes and do I hurt. It wasn't enough I am having a ulcer flare. Must be the celabrex or something has not agreed with me.
Mima.. You sound like you are getting ready to come to Florida. We have been having some warm weather.
Hey Happy- We had a really nice time up at my daughters for the Holiday.. Too much food around. There were 6 pies left in her fridge. She tried to get me to bring some home. I said no way. I don't want to eat them. And I would have.
Hello Candice- It seems like everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit. I haven't put up a light or done my shopping. Oh Well I did buy one item. I about got a quilt for my son finished and a afgan almost done. I hope I don't get sidetracted. I also bought three pieces of material to make myself some things. I need dresses. I have loads of pants. Everything was so big.. I gave most away.

What a talented bunch of people we are:singing, piano playing, sewing, gardening. I am not putting up my tree-I won't be home enough-but I bought 6 feet of roping-had it made. And put lots of lights on it and put it on my "mantle" which is the top of my entertainment center with some of my favorite things. I had to have some lights around. I have to go to my daughter's to let the furnace man in today. But I get bto go to yoga class this am. Hey Meme-it's all about the knots in the neck. The chiro works on them every two weeks. My friend called me MOnday night-we are going to a retirement party next weekend at a really nice place and there might be dancing and my shoes are too big!!!!Brand new-I keep buying navy shoes and they never fit right-it's really funny.I have a pretty blue velvet dress. Ally and Mima you are having entirely too much fun!!! I don't know about a boyfriend, but some fun would be nice. Guess I'll have to go out and find some:lol:

Joanne - I hope yo are ok and not too sore. It is my worst fear, that falling business. Wouldn't like that one bit. Like you, I have not gotten up anything to do with Christmas - even if I was't moving I wouldn't be doing anything yet. Usually about the 16 or 17 or December, I put up the tree and decorate the place up. I have a real tree, so putting it up early is not even considered. I couldn't imagine the mess. By the 01Jan it is all over the floor - no matter how much you water them. I have done some Christmas shopping however. Just have a couple more things to buy.

Meme - did you ever hear of the little word RELAX:lol: Boy, you make me tired just listening to you. I don't know how you do all you do in all the pain you are in. I guess, like the rest of us, life goes on, and you do what Nike' says " JUST DO IT". It sometimes has to be done, pain or not.

Candice - Hello. Hope you are keeping well. Did you get your Kitchenaid yet? You will love it. Mine has an awful lot of power and you certainly don't need that much. I think 250-300 HP is quite enough. I believe the one I have has 450HP. It is a great little machine. You also don't have to worry about them. I had a blender I bought from them, and it wasn't working right. I took it to my daughters and asker her to take it into a service shop for warranty work. Of course, she forgot, and the warranty expired. I took the thing into an applicance place here and they said it would cost more to fix it than it was to buy a new one. I wrote an e-mail to Kitchenaid that went to the U.S. somewhere, and they kindly forwarded it on to Canada. Last year on the 23 Dec., they sent me a brand new one. They asked that I return the old one for quality control, but I told them that the applicance shop had it, and I had asked them to dispose of it. I don't know if they contacted these fellows or not, but I did get a new blender. Was super good service, that is for sure.

Now I am moving on Tuesday. Won't be online for a few days, as they won't be hooking up the cable and phone line until 05/06 of Dec. So will be a couple of days without service. We have so much snow, and expecting more, but I hope it is nice on the day we have to move. My daughter and SIL are coming to help us out.

Wish me luck, PLEASE!!! I am hurting already. muscles are aching, and I suspect it is from the change of season yet again - fall to winter. Just takes a little time to get used to things. Maybe being of the computer for a few days will help with the arms.
