GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there are two of them, the first is appropriate for the Thanksgiving Holiday, the other is just appropriate:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

LET YOUR BLESSINGS COMPEL YOU

Stop for a moment and consider all the good things which you too often take for granted -- your health, your family, the air you breathe, the water you drink, your home, your community, the magnificent universe around you, your faith, your friends, the knowledge you possess, your skills, and so much more.

Indeed, you are blessed. You are filled with possibilities. Yet what good are your blessings if you're not making the most of them? Of what value are your possibilities if you do not make the effort to fulfill them?

Think of the good things you have going for you. There may be many or there may be few. What matters most, is that you get them to grow. That comes from gratitude and appreciation.

When you truly appreciate your blessings, they become powerfully compelling. And they grow, filling your life with quality and excellence, and compelling you to reach even higher.

Gratitude and thankfulness are more than just words or thoughts. To truly appreciate the good things in your life, you must take the actions necessary to nurture and defend them.

You're blessed with a great starting point. Let your many blessings compel you to reach ever higher.

-- Ralph Marston
***************

BELIEVE IN IT

Do you truly believe in the value of your own pursuits? If so, there's not much that will be able to stop you. If not, why are you wasting your precious time on them?

Belief in what you're doing will make you vastly more enthusiastic, resourceful and effective. It will let you see valuable opportunities where others just see annoying problems. Your belief will enable you to persevere through the difficult times and grow stronger in the face of challenges.

Perhaps you think that doing what you believe in is a luxury you cannot afford. After all, the bills do have to be paid. Yes, indeed, the bills must be paid. And the very best way to do that is by putting your efforts where they will create the most value.

If you don't believe in what you're doing at the moment, then map out a plan that will take you from where you are right now to where you can truly believe in what you're doing. Once you make that connection, even though nothing else has changed, you've suddenly added the power of belief to your efforts.

Believe in what you're doing. Believe in where you're going. You can find a way. Find it, hold on to it, and be unstoppable.

Ralph S. Marston

Have a wonderful day and a fabulous week!

Good Monday Morning!

I am home from work today with scratchy throat and a shoulder that has been bothering me for two days. Mental health will also benefit from a sick day off.

Spent most of yesterday crafting and puttering around the house. Didn't get outside until I ran an errand at 6:45 last evening. Even though I'm not feeling the best today, I am going to force myself to run today, because there are no guarantees that I will feel the best on race day either. I try to adopt the mentality that Olympic athletes don't stop training when they are "sick."

Ended up painting Christmas onrnaments on the placemats and sewing some red napkins to go with. They will be my prize tonight at Keeno (aka Ladies' night). We are having a "Queen" experience tonight, we are fans of the "Sweet Potato Queens." If you have read these books you have to, they are a great laugh, particularly for a Southerner or anyone who understands this part of the country. Great gift idea! Anyway, with this theme in mind the invitation said "cute shoes optional." One of the SPQ's quotes is "Cewwwwt shooooz, How's ya mama and them?" Soooo we are a crazy bunch and several have taken the lead and have been creating their cute shoes, the winner will the the "Queen of Sole" (My idea :smug: ). I wasn't gonna get into it because Spewer is overly competitive and I get tired of feeling like she is always trying to one-up me. Sometimes it's better just to lay low when she is around. :p Well... went to Wal-Mart on Sat and peeked in the shoe dept for something I could create "Cute Shoes" with and found some fuschia strappy platform sandals on clearance for $2.00. The only problem is they look a bit like "stripper shoes" :o and we have a strip club here called "Dockside Dolls." I passed on the shoes because I could here the Dockside Dolls-shoe-and-boob jokes already coming from Spewer. :( But then I gave it some thought and decided that I shouldn't care that much about her and since I had a cute idea that I should pursue it. WELLL... with DH's help I came up with a C-R-A-Z-Y pair of shoes. I glued the teeny black ants I had from Halloween (they were frozen in the ice trays) on them in a trail to and from the fruit I glued on the toe strap! They were inspired by some shoe and purse magnets on my frig. They are a scream. Very Carmen Miranda. Keeno is tonight, I'll let you know the response.

Anyone go to Harry Potter this weekend? Anyone here read the books? I think I'd enjoy them.

Chose red as the response color to match my throat!

DEB - Sounds like you got some great buys from the sales Sat. How was Gpa's birthday? Regarding your walking time and my running time. My pace is slow because I am just slow, but also because I have to be able to reserve some energy to make it through 26.2 miles. If I were training to "race" my pace would be much faster. I think after this marathon I will try to get a faster 10-K (6.2 miles) pace and run those. I may run an occasional 1/2 marathon, just not sure that I will want to continue to run marathons. But after WDW I will be in love with them again! ANYWAY, hope that explains it. You are just lean and fast! And you are attempting to beat a time (Vs. a distance) and you have been walking that distance at that pace for a while now. BTW - They were people in the WDW marathon that walked the entire thing faster than I ran it. They were not race walkers either. They were very fit and fast walkers like you. They had cute t-shirts made that said "Walkie Talkies" because they like to walk and talk. :) Regarding my running book, I think it would be humerous, non-fiction, and hopefully motivational.

FILLISE - So sad to see our fellas lose on Saturday. Now 'Bama has Iron Bowl bragging rights for a year.

MEL - I know first hand how frustrating it can be to be exercising, on plan and still gaining weight. Deb is a great resource for help if you need it! I know that my weight gain (10 gradual pounds since July) was primarily medication induced.

BUSDEB - I would love to come ride! Remind me again where in AL you are. I don't think you are near my family at all. But I would love to come see them. Regarding a bra for riding, it isn't a low-impact sport ya know!

NASCAR - Glad you had fun at the race. That is a nice track. My father and brother and who knows who else from my family was there! Congrats to Jeff G on winning the cup again. He is certainly a great driver.

BOB - I like my haircut. I really needed to get this wig shaped up!

GATOR - Your trip sounded great! Are you going to join us at the race. It seems that you mentioned that you couldn't but I don't fully remember. BTW - I'm the other sad Auburn fan here. :( I was busy and couldn't watch the game, which may have been a mixed blessing.

Well, guess I should take some steps to feel better. I feel the need to sweat, as if to get rid of a fever.

Check back in later!

Peace,
FROG

Gosh, I can't believe i haven't posted in a whole week! I missed y'all! I didn't even have time to read the board until last night.

To say this weekhas been bad in Auburn would be an understatement. We are still dealing with the fallout from the frat parties--I worked 10-12 hour days every day last week. The University has made it clear that there is no place for such behavior on this campus. The students are out all this week for Thanksgiving so maybe we can start to move forward.

Then there was Saturday.

I wanted to go up to the imposters wearing our unfforms and say "who are you and what have you done with the Auburn Tigers?" OK Bama fans--Your teams outplayed us every way there was! Y'all had a great game--congratulations!

Even NC State lost--but that one was easier to take. They took it right down to the wire against a team they wern't supposed to beat. They tried--which is more than it looked like Auburn did.

My eating has been horrible the past week. I've been working such long days that cooking has been out and we work through lunch with people bringing in sandwichesand what not. I've eaten a lot of white bread in the last week. Ick! Of course I haven't been able to work out either. Woe is me! So the weight is up to 243:mad: .

I have been back OP since Saturday (when I could control my menu again).

Saturday I worked with one of our candidates for Governor. We cooked and gave out some 8,000-10,000 hotdogs before the game on Saturday. I never want to see another hotdog again as long as I live!

Today will be another long day--and I'm trying to leave for NC tomorrow. I may not make it until Wed though. I cook Thanksgiving dinner in my family, so I'm really not worried about Thursday. I have some WW bread to use for the stuffing. This weekend I make a SGWW SF apple pie as a test run. It is yummy! I used the recipe for SCWW crust that is on the October recipe board and the recipe for filling that is on the back of the splenda box. The crust is not as light as you may be used to--but it is really good in a hearty way. In fact this is probably what pie crust was like back in the "olden days" before they could process the flour to death. I will make another for Thursday so that when the rest of the family has desert, I will have one too.

I'll put the filling recipe on the November recipe board.

I did read all of last week's posts last night.

Frog it is great to see that you are heading down the scale again and feeling good! I knew it was those evil meds!

BOB--good luck with the Paxil. I was worried about Tennessee there for a while--but y'all always seem to pull it out in the end!

SEF--My goodness--I hope you are feeling better! Please take care of yourself.

Deb--White bread is as bad--or even worse than sugar. My joints have stiffened up and I know it is from the insulin my body isn't used to! I know it will help when I can get back to the gym--but I can tell I haven't been putting the right food into my body. I can feel it in every fiber of my being.

NASCAR--Good day in Atlanta! I waved to you everytime the card crossed the S/F line!

I hope everyone has a good week!

Hi Again:wave:

Hope you all had a good weekend:) Just got back from my walk, no jogging at all today, too tired, didn't sleep well again due to Michael being up way past midnight and me waking up and going to yell at him to go to bed. Once that's done with my BP is up, my heart rate is up and I'm up! Didn't fall back asleep until about 5am. THEN, this morning he hadn't finished his work so he was running late and I was like a raving lunatic! I am a stickler for being on time and with having to pick up a brother/sister that we carpool with, I have no time to be playing these games-so THAT got me pist too-so it wasn't a good start to the day, but it's getting better:)

Yesterday Eli and I just went for lunch at Ole Ole, stopped at the JCPenney outlet to get my Grandpa a shirt (got a great deal on it and he liked it, thankgoodness) and of course, CARBOLITE since it was Coconut-treated myself to a large for the first time, still, it didn't seem to be enough for me:rolleyes: Went to my Grandparents. GM was suppose to have had food catered, but instead we find out she made food-what the heck do you think she goes and makes!?! Turkey, sweet potatoes, has cranberry sauce-I know she's losing it, but geez, doesn't she realize in a few days we're going to be feeling déjà vu at the dinner table? I just had a tiny bit of turkey and a few green beans, couple of peanuts. Thank goodness I ate at Ole Ole!

Family kept telling me, "oh my, you've gotten so skinny," "you've lost more weight." There's no pleasing them ever is seems! They complain if you're fat, they complain if your skinny-I just think it's the nature of being Jewish-they just like to complain, PERIOD!

Happy to report that I am back down to my all time low of 120. See, I told you I just had to be patient;) Actually, I may of been a tad lower. After weighing, I ate 2 cactus pears, went for my walk, came home, drank about 2 glasses of water and then had a major dookie attack. Just think, if the dookie would of come first, I'd probably have a loss cause I weigh the same now after eating and drinking. So, here's hoping for tomorrow that there will be one!!!!

I hope you all have a nice THANKSGIVING planned with your families (I know you Canuks already celebrated your TG). I said this before, but it bears repeating. I do hope you all find yourself being able to stay OP and not throw all caution to the wind. Please, choose foods wisely. You don't have to go overboard, it's food, not the LAST SUPPER, and hopefully, not your last TG MEAL. I know many foods are made just for this special occasion and if you really want something, do take it, but make sure it's a small portion. I personally know this is NOT an option for me. If I take just one of my favorite cookies that my Mom or Lauren makes I won't be able to stop myself-they use to have to be hidden from me that's how bad it was. I would eat a dozen in a matter of a couple minutes. Things that I really like, I have no control over-give me a piece of something I don't care for, I could probably do a bite or two and wonder why I even bothered, like, for apple pie.

After being on this board for 1 1/2 years and having gone through last Thanksgiving, I know what to expect. The board is going to be slow from now til after the holidays. I know people are busy with life in general, but with preparing the home for the holidays, along with shopping for presents for everyone and traveling to see family and loved ones, all this having to be done with all of lifes other daily activities, there's less time for not only the board, but for keeping yourself focused on staying OP. I can't tell you just how many people we lost last year at TG time, most, not returning. Many at least e-mailed me to tell me they had gone off the wagon big time and just couldn't find their way back. Others stayed away for quite a while and then came back, weighing a lot more than they had before the holidays and might I add, very disgusted with themselves for not getting right back on track.

I really do hope and pray that you will find, if only a minute, to check in at least once a week if you aren't able to do so more often, just to let us know you are still here and plugging away with us. I just don't have the time to come "searching" for you this year as I had last year with people we hadn't heard from. It's amazing how many people didn't even reply to my e-mails, they just vaporized it seemed.

I hope you will all make some kind of commitment during this holiday season, not only to yourself and this WOE but to this board and to the gals on here who have been so supportive of each other. Think about this one:) Enough of my preaching!

GATOR, we didn't have any rains down here. Must of been something north to us, but surely, nothing down here. Hope you had a good time at your BIG BASH.

JRED, thanks for checking in. Don't worry about that rollercoaster ride on the scale, surely, if you read my posts, you KNOW this is something that being patient and staying OP will turn around. How are your daughters off from school for the whole week? They sure are lucky. Sounds like the whole family will be together when your son gets home-have a wonderful time together.

NASCAR, glad to hear you had a good time at the race and your BOBBY won! I got your PM and will get some samples out to you hopefully sometime this week. Problem is, I've sent out 2 samples of 2 different things to 2 different people in 2 very seperate areas of the US and neither one got theres-makes me wonder what's going on at the USPS!!!! Maybe you'll be the lucky one. I'll let you know when I get those out.

FROG, sounds like you have a fun evening planned. I love your cute ideas, esp with the shooz! I do hope you are feeling better by then. Good that you took the time off from work, hopefully, so rest will do the body (and mind) some good. PLEASE take a pic of those shoes. Are we having the toes painted fushia to match? You're STILL inviting SPEWER? Gosh knows you're bound to have a story tomorrow! Lean and mean, ME? LOL!!!! Loved the idea of the shirts-my idea is to have one that says WALKERS DO IT WITH (or in) STRIDE.

FILLISE, thanks for checking in and letting us know what's going on with you. We've missed you and your posts this past week. Sounds like you've been a busy beaver and have more in store this week to keep you even busier. That apple pie sounds devine. I'm going to try and make a pie crust this week and do either a pumpkin or sweet potato pie. Hope you are able to get back on track after the TG holiday-you've worked too hard to let things slide now.

Well gals, I've got to go get something to eat then hit the stores. Eli's store is donating a TG food basket to a needy family and I offered to go buy the goods, so that's on my agenda today. He bought a laundry basket to put all the goodies in and I think it would be nice to decorate it before throwing all the stuff inside. I'll check back with you later.

TOMORROW IS CHAT at 9:15PM EST Just wanted to know if there is any interest to do one, or shall we skip it this week due to the holiday? Please, let me know your thoughts.

Have a wonderful day and a great week!!!

Good morning. My first time on the weekly support board. It may take me awhile to get to know you all, but this is a start.

I have been doing SB now for 10 days. Feel great! Still learning my way around what foods I can eat, what foods to avoid. Last night I read the Harvard Women's Health Watch (my mom subscribes). There was an article from Dec 2000 on Diet, Glycemic Index, and the Food Pyramid. And an article from June 2001 on Glycemic Load, Diet, and Health. My only other written source to learn about this WOE has been the Sugar Busters book, and I needed more. Anyway, after reading about Glycemic Load, I have decided to add carrots to the foods that are legal for me. They have great nutrients, and a half a cup has a glycemic load of only 10. (One slice whole grain bread has 7.5, baked potato, 45!!!)

Just wondered how everyone else has determined what foods are okay, what aren't. I'm basically cutting out all sugar and all white, processed flour.

Have started weight training again, very small steps. Don't feel hungry or needy with food. Really feel great. A little concern about Thanksgiving, but not much. I simply will not cheat!!!!

Thanks for letting me join up. My bio is on the bio board. Will check back in next week.

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I was MIA last week. It was my long work week & had sooooo much more going on, that the board HAD to take the back burner. I did mis being here & did miss all of you. The scale went from 101 to 144, now back down to 140.5. Yesterday was my lowest yet at 139.5, but we had a big family get together at my sister's for a B-B-Q & I'm afraid I tasted EVERYTHING!

No problem here with over eating for Thanksgiving cause I'm working a 12 hr shift. Oh well, someone has to do it I guess it has to be me. DH is on call this week, so if he doesn't get called in to work, he'll come eat with me at the hospital. They will feed us since we're working for the holiday. They are good about that.

Well, I'm off to grocery shop so that I can fix a Crunch Pea Salad for our church wide Thanksgiving supper tomorrow night. Have a full day today & tomorrow, but will try to check in later this evening if I get things accomplished. Tomorrow is the Food Pantry Ministry & we're preparing to pack 30-40 bags of food for the families that we give food to each month.

Some of you may remember my brother-in-law (Bobby) that was on the respirator back in September, that we almost lost after his open heart surgery? He's still not doing well. Had to have another surgery last week. Gallbladder this time which is not so bad usually, but with his poor health, it has taken it's toll. He asked all of his children if they would give him permission to let go. All said yes except one. He is tired & tired of fighting.

His older brother(Andrew) had another heart attack last Monday. He has been in poor health for a long time & just a few months ago, dr's told him that he has major blockages in his legs as well as heart, but is NOT a surgery candidate. Well, last week as I said, he ended up in ICU on the respirator with another MI. We thought we'd lose him then, but the Lord had other plans. **We're grateful for that** He pulled through & was taken off the vent till last night when he took another turn for the worse. He's back on the vent with his pupils fixed & dialated. Not good. Please pray for these 2 brothers & most of all, for their families that are having to deal with impending loses. Although these 2 are brother's of my late husband & we don't visit a whole lot, they are still FAMILY to me & my girls.

Well enough....I've got to get going if I'm to get everything done today that I need to. See ya!

Well, at least I haven't spilled a giant cup of coffee on my lap like I did last Monday - yet!

This weekend was kinda crazy - Got up early and went to the mall w/Mom. We started shopping for x-mas. JCPenny had one of those sales they open early for then went on to KB toys and Toys R US. Got a little of "Santa" behind me. After we got home at 12:00, I had a little time and then it was off to Chucky Cheese for a B-day party:dizzy:. Got home and had supper with my Mom and the BIL's crew and played Rook until about 11:00. Sunday was church, WalMart, laundry, cooking and bed! I was so tired!

The new AD meds are playing mind tricks on me and hindering my sleep quite badly. These side effects will pass soon, I hope. The lack of sleep is starting to catch up rather quickly. I'm also rapidly getting a sinus infection - sore throat, glands, INTENSE headache and pressure behind the eyes - classic! I have a prescription for an antibiotic that my Doc gave me a few months back for the same thing - I went before I got really sick and he gave me one of those steroid type shots and hoped that would clear me up, but also gave the the prescription with instructions to fill if I think I needed it after the shot took effect. I didn't, but now I do! Guess what it is for - CIPRO!! I got this before the anthrax scares, I hope they have it at the pharmacy!

I'm trying really hard to keep my spirits up but with everything going on right now, this week, is going to be extremely difficult. Crazy, Crazy, Crazy things going on in both sides of the family, so I expect some not too comfortable moments. My gut instinct is that there will be trouble - I wish I could just sleep through it all!!

Mel - thanks for asking about me! I'm just trying to get through this week!

Deb - I know what you mean about those kind of mornings that you rant and rave at the kids!! We've had plenty of those! Thanks for the encouraging words and congrats on being at your low again!

BusDeb - I thought about you and your camping trip when I heard the weather is going to turn cold tomorrow! You better take plenty of blankets and stay warm! Congrats on the new horse!

Fillise - well - ya win some, ya lose some! Boy, we just really stank up the whole place on Sat!! I couldn't believe they let Bama just run all over them like that! Oh well, that is the way it goes sometimes!

Sef - hope you are getting yourself mended!! Make sure to get some rest!

Frog - hope you are feeling better!

Gotta run,

Good morning everyone

Hope everyone had a good weekend. It was a working one for me. I hope to get in a few games of badminton this afternoon before heading to work for the evening shift. I was up a couple of pounds this morning. Not surprising considering what I ate yesterday. I made a yummy sb legal pizza yesterday made with sgww flour and a very thin crust. But I had messed up earlier in the day by having illegal carbs for both breakfast and lunch. So altogether too many starchy carbs yesterday both legal and not. I should have saved the pizza for another day but had already made plans for it and had all the stuff ready. Anyway I plan on being totally legal to-day. Have to get rid of those two pounds in a hurry.

Nascar - Sounds like you had a good weekend. Congrats to Bobby for winning the race.

Frog - Hope you are feeling better soon and have a good time at the party. Hope Spewer doesn't spoil it for you.

Deb - Glad to see that you are back down to your all time low. It's too bad that the family can't be happy that you have achieved your goal weight, but the important thing is that you feel good about yourself and what you have achieved.

Crickett - Welcome to the board. That's an interesting article about Glycemic Load. There was an article on it posted on this board a few weeks ago. Did you see the article I posted on last week's board about carrots? Now they have done further testing on carrots and decided they have a gi of only 39. Another good source of information is Michel Montignac's book "Eat Yourself Slim". Also The Glucose Revolution by Jennie Brand-Miller has lots of information on the glycemic index.

Melf - I was thinking about you this morning and wondering what had happened to you. I just saw you had posted when I was about to post this but will have to read it later.

Have to run now. Have to prepare myself a good sb legal lunch before heading out to badminton.

Have a good day everyone.

Marie.

I feel kinda yucky and I FORCED myself not to cut my run from 6 down to 4 miles. It seems that the progression I make with my longer my overall runs, the more of a toll it takes on my shorter distances! Weird, but I think it is all part of the conditioning.

I ran 6 today in 1:14, that's just over 12 minute miles. I felt really stiff and yucky until I got to about mile 4. I also felt that I still needed to sweat out a fever. Probably allergies more than anything, but can't help if I'm having any withdrawal symptoms from the Rx?

I want to address something Deb said about making it through the holidays. Perhaps this is part of a motivational Monday contribution. I am a testament to the fact that you CAN make it through the holidays and lose. I lost 15 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's last year. I had only been on SB about a month then. I had Thanksgiving here and I made the traditional stuff along with things that were SB legal. And when the holidays were over, I didn't feel like a fat blob and I was sooo proud that I had done it. You can too, just keep the promises that you make to yourself! Treat yourself as you would your spouse or best friend. You wouldn't offer them something that they were trying to avoid, would you? Of course not, because you wouldn't sabotage them like that, and you probably promised to help them be "good." So, don't "offer" it to yourself and keep those promises to yourself!

As far as not being MIA, I found last year that when I wanted to cheat or was a little stressed from holiday events, that this was a great retreat and a place to talk about how to avoid temptations. I hope that y'all won't disappear. Hang in there whatever you do. We all deal with this time of year in different ways, not all of them healthy. But even if you fall off the wagon, you can come back here for moral support.

DEB - Spewer is still invited to this monthly event. This time it is not at my house. BW and another friend are hosting. The other friend doesn't like Spewer either. But we are a "group" that meets and we can't eliminate her, even if she didn't get an invite she'd assume it was lost and would show up! This other friend (OF) likes to talk to me about her, but I worry that she tells what I say, so I've stopped engaging in conversations about Spewer. I don't think OF tells it to be a backstabber, I just think that she starts talking and doesn't know how to stop. I truly don't think she's being malicious. So last night I popped by OF's house and we talked about this a little bit. I told her that I didn't feel good about myself when she and I got into these conversations about Spewer, and that I felt just as evil as I think she can be. I think it was the right move. On a different note, you crack me up telling about your dookie! I think you and I must share that in common. I find myself talking about it WAY too much. But a good steamer is one of life's simple pleasures! I know it is easier said than done, but IGNORE your family's comments! They probably think something ridiculous, like that you have gone from one extreme to another. Forgetting that you have dramatically improved your life, and with that you have also improved your children's lives. And why is it that people in our lives' get so overfocused on HOW we LOOK and not WHO we are? I noticed this in August at my Grandmother's birthday party. I got the "OOhhhh you LOOK so good." It was a nice compliment, ... BUT! I guess it is that Looks are on the surface. It is more difficult for people that we only see a few times a year to be able to talk about what a good PERSON we are (mother, daughter, professional, or whatever). As far as them saying you are too thin, as long as you are not being unhealthy, which I have never thought that, they really should keep their comments to themselves. IT is how YOU feel that matters! We are all certainly proud of you and I would tell them ALL in a heartbeat how many lives you have positively influenced with you WOE that they think has caused you to "too skinny." Give me that # and I'll call 'em up! They need an earful! :s: BTW - My belly is looking flatter with each passing day. MUCH MUCH less bloated! :D

MELLF - Congrats on your new low. I hope to be there one of these days! Sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend. Sorry to hear that you have family members who are sick.

FILLISE - Sorry that things have been so hectic on campus. I had to laugh at the thought of all the hot dogs! It kinda made me queasy.

CRICKETT - Welcome to the board. Everyone is gonna tell you how great and supportive everyone is here. It's all true!

Time to go shower off the "stank!"

Will check back later!

OOPS! Y'all were posting while I was postin'!

ROSALIE - Hello. Your pizza sounded great. I'm getting hungry myself! Badminton. Promise me that if you are able to come to an SB retreat that we'll play!

TV - SOunds like Santa has been busy. The meds may take a while, Lord knows I feel like an expert on Elavil. Hang in there! You sound as though your spirits are lifting and I'm happy for you!

Later!

I finally got the results of my bloodwork that I had done 1 1/2 weeks ago!! My TSH was still too high, but much closer to normal than before!! He's increasing my thyroid meds again and I'll have the bloodwork re-done in 4-6 weeks. This is good news because thyroid problems can be such a drag on your weight loss efforts, not to mention your spirits and energy level. I'm glad I've got a doc who is trying so hard to get me back in the normal range!

Frog - those are inspiring words too! I plan on concentrating on self control through the holidays when it comes to eating. If I really want something, then I'll have just a little (I can usually do that without going overboard). My DH does SB with me so at home we kinda keep an eye on each other. On the big EATING days, I'm gonna be sure to get all my water in and exercise! I definately plan to remain active on the board - I need all the support I can get!!

We have vitally important work...

This is an important day. It is one of the limited
number of days we are granted. We have vitally
important work to develop ourselves as human
beings, grow in our relationships, and contribute to
the well-being of other people. Each moment's
choice may be small, but it creates a direction for
the moment that follows. Each act has
consequences.

Perhaps we say, "I can't live like I choose today
because of all the demands on my time. I have so
many things to do! I can only keep putting one foot
in front of the other." Throughout life, we usually
have little choice about what kind of person we will
be and how we will face the demands. The
temptation to discard this day, or to numb our
mindfulness, or to grab for control will lead to
frustration and despair. We can live today the way
we want to live our whole life.

Make a choice now for the attitude you will bring to
the demands of today.

FrogLover – Thanks for the great tips and a Big Congrats on getting back into your size 10s!

Rosalie – I have just recently started eating carrots again, I find they are crunchy and tasty enough to satisfy my urges. I’m glad to know it’s a good thing and not a cheat. I sure love them and will just have to be careful about going hog wild!

Rhonda - I'm back on the wagon as of Saturday. I finally found an OatBran muffin recipe, although not as big and yummy as the Starbuck's variety, they're good to me. I'm still using honey, but only 2 tblspns and it makes 12 muffins. I think that is ok (Deb?) As for the stress, I know that when I use to do some minimal martial arts, I certainly relieved it better. Lately I haven't found a reliever, then I eat and eat, and then I feel horrible. I know that it will take me about 2 weeks to get back into it with the right servings and such, but I really am going to try to stick to only OP foods, even if it's too many of them, so I can get back on track. I believe our seating is front row seats 1 and 2 on BOB's wagon!

Deb: Walk Away The Pounds is a Walk Aerobic program designed by Leslie Sansone. Basically it's an exercise program for people who find aerobics intimidating or overly strenuous. I am one of these people and the program looks like something I can handle without being too goofy or unrelenting. It has a 30 day money back guarantee, that should be enough time to evaluate it and make sure I can stick with it.

I know I have much more catching up to do, as I only had time to read some of the posts from Friday. I hope you all have a successful Monday.

Greetings all! Hope you all had a great weekend. I was not too good this weekend. Had burgers one day and pizza the next. Scales didn't show any change from Friday, but I am up 1.5 lb from my lowest:( I'm doing better today.

A question for y'all. Any of you tried a fat blocker? A fellow teacher is into Advocare and I went to a meeting last week. Really interesting info but very expensive. The rep showed their fat blocker. Really gross how it binds to the fat so that it passes through your system w/o absorbing. Anyway, I found a generic brand-much cheaper- and have taken them for a couple of days. The only thing I've noticed so far is that I've made more trips to the bathroom.:o

Thanks Frog and Debbie for motivating us to stay on track during the holidays. I'm not saying that I won't cheat, but I will not cheat BIG! I'm taking a legal dessert to my mom's and MIL, so that should help. I'm not really into dressing, so that's no problem. Sweets are my main temptation. Get thee behing me!

BusDeb-Congrats on the horse! I'm an old farm girl myself and grew up riding. Had a wonderful mare named Dolly.

Sorry I don't have time to talk to everyone. Munchkins approaching for class.

Frog--Yep, I'm gonna try to be there for your marathon. I have it on my calendar.

BOB---LOL!!! Read my post on last week's board, the one I posted on Sunday afternoon. Ha,Hee hee. I'm just sooo obscure. Even the SEC gals don't understand my warped sense of humor. And Debbie remarked on the UM game but didn't understand my reply. I must be too weird! I'll try to stay very low key, though. Did you get it?? Waddya think about the UF-UT game coming up?

Gotta go exercise in 10 min. We are having turkey breast for TG, along with wild and brown rice stuffing (SB legal, of course). Then BOB's pole beans and roasted onions and brussels sprouts with Dijon mustard glaze. Sugar free jello salad ( with cranberries, apples and oranges) in place of the usual cranberry sauce. May not even have gravy. The one off plan item is pumpkin pie that my family couldn't live without. Making it with skim evaporated milk, though.

Well, really gotta go. Take care.

Aren't we an optimistic bunch, judging from the poll results so far! I'm really hoping to stick to my plan, as Frog said, treat myself like my best friend and not try to sabotage myself. I've worked too hard for this, ran and pedalled too many miles and lifted too many tons of metal to slip back into bad eating. It will really take a realignment of thought. I can't remember a Thanskgiving when I didn't eat til it hurt ( now there's a really stupid idea!). And Hannukah is usually one long fried potato binge, and we also celebrate Christmas with all the gooey glory of an English CHristmas (see trifle discussion from Rosalie several weeks back). I guess what I'm trying to do is re-evaluate whether these are family traditions which I can work around, or just aberrant behavior on my part. But this year, I'm NOT going to add the usual 5-7 pounds that I do other years.

Got in good workouts today, finished with a heavy lifting session, 'tho I really didn't want to do it. I'm still sore from adding weight last Thursday. Particularly the top of one hip bone, which is not good since its a fibromyalgia trigger point, rather than muscle soreness. This WOE and exercising has helped so much, I forget that it's really just "in remission" and never will be cured.:( A flare up for the holidays is not needed!

I'm not nearly as in tune as you old timers to the frustrating ups and downs of the scale. If I'd waited a bit before my moaning session ( and pissed first:o ) y'all wouldn't have had to listen to me complain. My mystery 3 pound gain fell off this morning and I've hit a new SB low of 145, reaching 30 pound off! I sure hoope it stays off til WIW!

Crickett- Welcome, this is a great place and good timing to start here on the board. I wasn't here thru the holidays last year, but i think it will be really helpful to keep posting.

Deb- Don't let the family get you down. You know you're doing what's right for you. It's not their life or body or emotions! I go thrugh similar with my mother. According to her, I'm either too fat, too busty, too muscley, anorexic, too selfish, too willing to do everyone elses dirty work....The list is endless. After 47 years, I've realized I'll never please her, it's not about me, it's about her. And I can't fix that. So I tune it out, and try real hard not to be that way with my kids.

Melf- Thoughts are with you and your family.

Fillese- Ugh! hot dogs all day! Hope things are calming down in Auburn. Sounds like sending all the students home for 4 days might help.

Hello to everyone I've missed- Got to go run some errands before dinner.

I haven't posted in oh-so-long, but I've been trying to keep up on the reading. Except for the last week or so. Life has been very hectic here and my eating shows it - terrible. I won't even say how many of the pounds I lost have reappeared.

The holidays really have me scared that I will lose any control I now have - which isn't very much! I've ordered the two Sugar Bust for Life books by the Brennans and, even though some people didn't care for them, I'm hoping it will be the kick in the pants I need. As Deb said, between now and the holidays is really hard to make time for yourself, and I'm guilty of that all year long. But I will try!

BOB - We just got back from Tennessee Sunday after a too-short visit. Went to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I know, I know, it's the tourist trap of the state, but we have so much fun. Took in the Christmas festival at Dollywood and had a great time. Gatlinburg has really built up since we were last there about 9 years ago. Hardly an open inch anywhere along the Parkway. Next time we go we will take a week and get a cabin or condo. We really love it there and plan to retire in the area if all goes well. My DH would be perfect to be a security consultant for Dollywood or other entertainment venues. Thought of you several times when we were there.

Deb - thanks for the encouragement for the holidays. I hope your words stick with me through it all!

Evening Everyone:wave:

Happy to see so many posts today:) You are all making me look like an idiot in saying the board will be slow-and I happily will take that compliment:D

CRICKET, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad you joined us and happy to learn more about you with reading your BIO on the BIO BOARD. I had asked you last week where in relation to HENDERSONVILLE you are-close? Sounds like you are doing well, so far. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we're all more than happy to try and help! I would say the carrots are fine when eaten raw instead of cooked, the GI goes up, but then again, if you don't eat a lot of cooked carrots, I'm sure that would be fine as well. BEACHFAN who met her goal never gave up bananas while on SB and did just fine. Everyone responds differently to different foods, you just have to find what works for you. I stay strict to what you can/can't have and don't waiver-I know me all too well, if I cheat once, I would continue cheating and never look back, while others can cheat and go right back on without blinking, again, the difference in all of us. Great attitude for Thanksgiving, with not cheating-it CAN be done!!! Again, welcome!

MELF, hmmm, big typo there on your weight going up and down! Could you imagine!!! LOL!!! WOW, you got to 139.5-heck, getting to a new low would of made me not taste everything in hopes the next day the scale would stay down-those numbers are still so important to me. I'm sorry to hear all the trouble your BIL's are having at this time. I hope by the grace of God they both pull through and are able to be able to live a good life. I guess sometimes there's a point you just don't want to fight the problems anymore and it's hard for family to understand that. I truly believe there's a life after death and as much as I don't ever want to see anyone pass, I know I will see them again on the other side.

TV, sounds like you have gotten a jump-start on your holiday shopping. ME, I shop all year long and then worry about the kids' one BIG present. Seems it will be an easy thing this year, Lauren wants a hair iron to straighten her hair, Michael a shaver:eek: The other stuff, I basically have, or it's easy to get. Not worrying much about anyone else other than my nieces and newphew. I think I'm going to get Eli (and me) tickets to see MAMA MIA, I heard it was good. With not being able to sleep due to the meds, have you tried some things to help along, maybe like some tea at night, or warm milk, maybe some relaxation exercises-just a thought.

ROSALIE, do you really think 1 meal could make you gain so much-I'm sure it's probably just water weight, you know you can't go up a few pounds overnight and have it be fat! Hey Marie, what do you think about that article and what it said about POPCORN????

FROG, thanks for those motivational words and backing me up:) I'm hoping this holiday you will have the same losses, if not more, on the scale. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction! Trust me, I let those comments from my family go in one ear and then right out the other-they no longer bother me, it's actually more amusing. Every time someone says something about me being too skinny, in my mind I say "always be careful what you wish for." I use to try to please them but stopped that a few years back. As long as I'm happy I don't give a rats *** what anyone else thinks;) Thanks for such kind words, but I do believe I more than anyone else has gotten more from all you gals and the board than anyone else and for that, I am forever grateful. Glad to hear the pkg came. Why not try to make the PB BALLS with it, or just try it on a pancake, or in a drink, or straight from the packet, just to see what you think. Yep, the addy is current!

LDBLOND, thanks for the motivational words:) The muffins are fine if you are only using 2TBL of honey for 12 muffins, I wouldn't worry about that too much. Have you heard from NANCE?????

MUSIC, I tried a fat blocker once, years ago One from Walmart, as far as I was concerned it didn't do anything. There's no evidence and I wouldn't spend big bucks on this stuff when you can find alternatives to try first.

GATOR, glad to hear you'll be meeting us at WDW when FROG comes!

MEL, CONGRATS ON THE NEW LOW & REACHING A NEW MILESTONE!!!!!! WOO HOO!!! That's wonderful news. Surely, this will keep you OP through the holidays!! I too think we have a good bunch of optimists, but then again, not everyone has taken the poll yet! Hey, how about sweet potatoe latkes, or zuchinni latkes this year? I think I even have a recipe for ones using cottage cheese. I've never been big on them unless they were fresh and crispy and had sour cream! Like I told FROG, my family doesn't bother me with their comments anymore-old Jewish people are inclined to complain, I believe it's in the blood!!!!

KAREN, glad to see your post. You do need to try and get a hold of yourself or you won't be able to resist the temptations of the season out there. It's easy to give in, esp. if you've are already falling off the side of the wagon. Again, as I always say, it's up to you to decide if it's the weight loss you want more than the food-what you put in your mouth is totally up to you. I pray you and everyone else on this board makes it through the holidays better than expected.

Time for me to hit the kitchen and do a few dishes before the big boy gets home. First, stop to the potty, I drank a lot of water today in hopes it will flush out the fat tomorrow! I got on the scale this evening and weighed in the same weight as I did this morning, so I'm praying for a loss and a new low tomorrow!!!!

Will check in before I hit the hay if the computer is free!

EVENING EVERYBUDDY!!!

Hope everyone is ready for TURKEY DAY...I'm going down to Naples for the day. My brother and SIL are down for their annual
fall R & R at the condo. There will be eight of us. Have to work Friday so I'll be coming home EARLY

CRICKETT WELCOME...please tel me where you are. I have and Aunt and Uncle in Hendersonville, family in Travelers Rest, SC, and friends all around the Asheville area...which direction are you?

MELF TWO TURKEY DAY DINNERS??? You will be stuffed!!
Sorry about your BIL...I'll be thinking about him.

FROG Can't wait to hear the outcome of this party..I'm beginning to think SPEWER thrives on competition!!! You can beat her...

GATOR I'll be watching, but I don't think TN can beat FLA..

SUSAN Let's hope they pull something out of their rear on Dec 1...It would be a miracle....BELIEVE ME!!

KAREN I love Gatlinburg..I think it being a tourist trap just makes it all the more fun. It's everything being crammed together that makes it interesting. It's a beautiful place at Christmas time. Had they done any decorating yet? Do you know/?? I've never been to Dollywood!! Can't tell you why, but just never got over there. Glad you have a good time.

Sorry I didn't get to everyone..I'm off to do some laundry..
Later,

Debbie, OMG! what a typo!! I had to go back to see what I had done. :o:  I knew I shouldn't have sampled everything, but it was either that or go without lunch cause the only legal thing there was the meat. Oh well.

I'm preparing for the church supper. I have a chrunchy pea salad ready & I'm making the blueberry buckle so I won't be tempted with the other desserts. I'm also tring the pumpkin cheesecake recipe that I found somewhere. Getting all that ready tonight as tomorrow I'll be on the go most of the day.

Tomorrow is the monthly birthday party at the NH & my Mom's BD was yesterday, so we'll be going to be there with her for that. I'm bringing 2 of my GS with me & my baby girl, Jodi. I haven't seen Jodi for about 2 weeks now, so I'll be happy to see her too. My Mom hasn't seen her in a couple of months & she doesn't know that Jodi is going to be with me. It should be a good surprise for her.

BOB No sweat for the second turkey day dinner. The one at the hospital is NEVER that great, so I'll probably bring a salad with me & add the slice of PRESSED TURKEY to the salad for lunch. I'm sure that will be more enjoyable.

Mel congrats on the loss. Way to go!

Karen Sorry to hear that the holidays have you worried. I think of you often with your mom in the nh. Hope you get a grip on things soon & enjoy Thanksgivings.

Frog Preparing for the big event? Hope that getting off that medication has helped.

CRICKETT Welcome to the board. Haven't checked your BIO yet, but hope to do that soon.

Rosalie Think about you often too. Hope you're not working too hard.

Well, I'm heading back for the kitchen to finish up that pumpkin cheesecake. See ya!

.Hi all,

Sorry I've been MIA. Its been really depressing here for the last or 3 weeks. My hubby is still layed off and the unemployment office is taking their own sweet time processing his claim. But on the up side I got a job this week. Right now I'm going thru the physical but I should be going to work next week. I got a job back at the same place I worked at after I graduated from high school. I cooked for almost 5 yrs at the local hospital. Now I'm going back to the same place. And you know what I'm excited about it. The kitchen is still the same just the people have changed. Everything is still where it was 18 yrs ago...imagene that:lol:. I guess some things never change. The man is supposed to call my hubby this Wednesday about his job....please please pray for him. Hes major league getting on my nerves. ;) Hes never since we've been married been out of work. And its really trying for him. The guy whose place hes supposed to be getting has been on vacation and the company couldn't get ahold of him to notify him of his move up. He will be back to work Wednesday.....Well enough about that. Glad to see everyone is doing great. I've lost 2 more lbs in the last 2 weeks so my weight lose is at 52lbs now. Well got to go now hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!!!!!

Welcome to the new members and good luck this is the best WOE I've ever did and I LOVE IT.

Hi, I guess I need to add my name to thise who were MIA.
I have been so busy, but you all are in my thoughts alot, expecially when I think about wanting to cheat. Some how, when i do that it seems like I am cheating more than just me, I am letting others down too.

Deb, Last week you asked of I had seet goals for myself. Yes, when I lose 85 lbs (3 away form that now) I get second holes in my ears. Then when I hit 100, my mom is giving me a body massage, and I decided that I would really splurge and get my teeth whitened.

Tvitsme...I can related to the problems with thyroid drugs. I had my thyroid removed 3 years ago (cancer) and we are still fine tuning the drugs. MY Doc calls me his biggest challenge, but it is that way cause I am getting smaller. Every time he thinks he has a correct dose, I lose more weight and it messes things up and we adjust the dose and retest. I asked if it would make it easier if I stopped losing weight....he just looks at me and says he loves challenges. And I am on a pretty high dose- 0.175meq of synthroid 5 times a week and 0.2meqs 2 times a week.

Well, I am wishing all those who drop by this week a wonderful holiday and a healthy way of eating for the next days that can be so trying to us.

Oh Deb, to answer your email from last week, or maybe it was the week before, anyway it looks doubtful that I will be able to get away to join you all in Orlando in Jan. I am going to my brothers in Alabama the weekend before and I will be on call the weekend of, so that makes for a real crazy week and half. I really do that one of these days that tings will work out so that I can join you all.

See you all soon

I am doing so much running around, trying to get ready for my trip I had thought it was Tuesday and I had missed chat. Although I may not be on chat tomorrow night because we will probably be still packing. I can hardly wait to get there and get settled in. You guys are not going to believe this....2 of my cousins and thier families, 3 friends and thier families, and my Aunt and Uncle are all going to be there this weekend. So we will have lots of ppl to be with ....almost too many I think. But the kids won't get bored that's for sure....lots of others to play with. Actually I only have one that still plays but you know what I mean.
Both our DS's are staying here Wed. and going to Thanksgiving at Grandmothers and then will come on up later that evening. I will miss them but I understand why they want to go. I wish they understood why we don't.

DEB....sorry for the confusion about the horses. I just bought that second one on the spur of the moment. She needs a little polish but she will be a good horse for us. Cami is coming to live with us a week from today. I can hardly wait to get my baby home.

Crickett ....welcome to you hon....always glad to see new faces.:)

Music teach....aren't horses wonderful. I could stay out there with Dixie all the time but my other family members need me too. LOL

TV .....don't worry about us we have a heater electric blankets and lots of firewood. No chance of us getting cold. We really rough it don't we??

Frog...I live just north of Birmingham ....where are your relatives?

I will try to post tomorrow...between packing. If not able to you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

A big hello to all I missed

cya when we return.

I'm sleepy, but still have some things to do before I leave in the morning. I'm so tempted to wait until Wednesday. The last two weeks have been so hectic that I really could use a day when everyone thinks I'm out of town to get some stuff done around the house.

Deb--Sounds to me like your family is jealous! It is hard for people to watch others make significant changes. Eveybody has some things they want to change about themselves, but very few have the courage to actually do it. Fortunatly you have friends here who understand and celebrate your success!:)

I also want to chime in on TG. Last year I actually lost weight over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm the cook at my house so I know what i can eat and what I can't. Turkey is easy--roast or even fried Turkey should be entirely legal--especially if you don't eat the skin. Surely somewhere you will find veggies on the TG table. If rice is a part of your TG make sure you have eiother brown or uncle ben's. I make stuffing our of SGWW bread--you can do it with sourdough too. I dry crumbs in the oven and mix celery, onion, spices and some turkey stock and then add the oysters. Last year it was yummy--and no one noticed that it wasn''t the bag-o-stuffing we normally buy. I also try to make sure there is one dessert I can eat. I told you about my apple pie for this year--last year I made a SF chocolate pie (the apple is better). Even if you just have some SF ice cream on hand it is better than feeling deprived. My menu will consist of the following:

Roast turkey
Oyster Dressing (made w/SGWW bread)
Brocolli w/cheese sauce
Rice (Uncle Ben's)
Cranberry Sauce (I don't eat that--never have)
Pecan pie(Alas, a no-no)
mince meat pie (also a no-no)
pumpkin pie (not for me either, but can be adapted)
SF apple pie (yum, yum)

Except for the most of the pie's and the cranberry sauce--everything else will be OK. I probably won't eat the rice because I love oyster dressing and will try to stay with just one starchy carb.

We also eat about 3:00 in the afternoon. I try to eat a good--protein filled breakfast to sustain me. Then I won't need to eat again until my SIL and I get up at 5:30 the next morning to hit the malls--but that is a whole 'nother story!

So it is possible to "feast" and stay on program! I agree with Deb and FRog--we can all make it through this holiday in fine style and stay on program. We'll deal with the Christmas /channukah seasons next week!

Frog--I admire your discipline to run when you are sick. I'm a big baby and call everyone I know to say good bye before I breathe my last. I'm not dramatic or anything :D I saw Harry Potter last night and loved it! I've read all the books and am a big fan.

Bus--it sounds like you will have a house full! Good luck!

Thunder: I'll be sending some good thoughs your way for your news job and good news for DH. It is particularilly rough this time of year. What was it I heard someone say about a newly retired husband who was driving her nuts--"I married him for better or worse, but not for lunch."

Laurie--I hope you continue to give your doctor fits! Make him earn that big paycheck!

Melf--that crunchy pea salad sounds good! Also the blueberry buckle--is that on a recipe board?

BOB--There should be a law against having to work on the Friday after Thanksgiving--unless, of course you work at the mall! My SIL and I have a ritual where we hit the mall when it opens (6 am ) and shop until we can't go any farther--usually about 7:00 pm. We shop from sunup to sundown!

Cricket--welcome! It sounds like you are off to a great start!

Everyone else--It's not 1:30 am and I'm too tired to type any more. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Morning All!

Just checking in.

Our household is finally starting to feel better. This darn thing is just hanging on. I usually get only one "winter" cold, so I'm hoping this is it!

Been keeping busy. I've been trying to track down and look at houses to buy. We want to get one that needs a little love, fix it up and resell it. Our new business venture. DH doesn't know what to do with himself--he gets home at 3:30 everyday with his new job (we used to own a dry cleaners that was open 12 hrs a day, 6 days a week), so he wants a hobby. I like getting into the renovating too. :D Great therapy taking a sledge hammer to a couple of walls!!!

The weather has been unseasonably warm here. Low 50's. Today is supposed to get a little cooler and then back a little warmer till the end of the week. I'm enjoying the warm weather, but I want to put in a small skating rink in our yard--or at least try to:lol: I like the snow and winter!

Been eating better as I'm feeling better. Too much bad comfort food when I felt lousy. I've been craving proteins tho. Weird. Anyone else just feel like they have to have protein?:?: So I'll grab some cheese or roast beef or some smoked salmon pate I made--probably too much fat in those things but at least they're legal! And I don't eat too much.

I'm hoping to get back to my swimming classes this week. haven't gone for 2 weeks, and I really miss it.

I've been helping my cousin with his parents' 50th anniversary party. Lots of fun!:dizzy: The meal is being catered, but there should be a lot of legal stuff to choose from. He/we are doing the hor deuves and I'll just stick to the veggies. I'll probably be bad and have a wee taste of the cake.

Crickett -Welcome to the board.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my neighbors to the south! (remember, I'm a Canuk!) I have faith in you all that you'll do your best to keep SB legal:)

Gotta go now. Only have a few minutes more of "me" time before DS gets up. From the way I've been going, looks like I'll only be getting on here maybe once a week. I try to pop in to peek at the messages, but don't have time to respond. But I am thinking of all of you!:)

Bye for Now:wave:

Mornig ALL!
Hope everyone is doing well. Count down to Turkey day!
Deb - Thanks for the encouraging words for the holidays! I know I needed them! I'll let you know as soon as I get the package.
Have you come up with a SB legal sweet potatoe souffle? I love that and wanted to try and make it legal!

Frog, Fillis, Rosalie - I had a great time at the race & I'm still glowing :D Although Gordan won the championship, at least Bobby won Atlanta.

Frog the shoes sound too cool! Hope you had a great time!

Well better get to work will try to check in later this week!

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!

http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg

I HIT A NEW LOW TODAY!!!!!!:spin: I just KNEW it was going to be a good day on the scale this morning and sure enuf, I hopped on that contraption and saw 119!!!!!:spin: What a beautiful site! Not only is that a new low, but I HIT A NEW MILESTONE!!! That now gives me a LOSS OF 75 POUNDS!!! Needless to say, I'm a bit excited!! This Thursday is my 20month SB ANNIVERSARY, so this comes as a nice anniversary present. Hoping it will hold out for tomorrow's WIW!!

After waking up to such a natural high I got out and went for my walk and did my 4.5 miles in 49:58-no great times but not so bad either. I wanted to jog, my body had other ideas, but the mind and body comprimised and worked together.

Got all the goodies for the basket that Eli's Starbucks is donating to the needy family. I really shopped and got some great deals so the basket (laundry) along with all the goodies came out to just under $25. We got a white laundry basket which I decorated with multi colored thick crepe maple leave cutouts last night. Got a 2ltr of soda, rolls, milk for the kids, can of mixed nuts, 2 cants green beans, 2 boxes of stuffing, 1 can cranberry sauce, 15lb turkey, bag of choc. chip cookies, pumpkin pie, 4-5lbs sweet potatoes, roasting pan, can of gravy and SB puts in a bag of coffee. Didn't think I did all that bad. They collected over $40, so the leftover money is going to be used to buy gifts for the kids from the STARLIGHT FOUNDATION that they are collecting for in the Starbucks. I've been going to garage sales and finding brand new today, never opened or used for .50 and $1.00, so that money can buy more toys!!! We'll hit the stores as the sales start this week to find some more bargins. I swear, I should work for SB it seems!!

Found some good sounding PUMPKIN PIE RECIPES on the web. Going to sift through a few of them and get what sounds the best on the recipe board later today. One sounds REALLY GOOD and got good reviews!

Today is TUESDAY TIPS and being that the holidays are just upon us, I thought this article was worth sharing:

Tips for Healthy Holidays

by Lois Paul, Nutritional Consultations by Lois Paul

Holidays are a diet downfall for many people. The special feasts associated with holidays frequently involve foods we haven't seen for a whole year, and once we've eaten them, we're glad they won't be around again for another year!

Many years ago, I decided to focus on preparing a healthy Thanksgiving meal. We all feel so much better after we have eaten than we used to, and we don't gain any weight. Here are my secrets to a healthy, delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

When cooking at home, remember to cook the turkey on a rack so the bird does not sit in the juices, much of which are fat.

Refrigerate the drippings from the pan overnight. Next day, remove the fat, which will have coagulated on top. Thicken the gravy with cornstarch dissolved in cold water. The gravy for today you will have made yesterday from the giblets. Remember, white meat has less fat than dark meat and the skin has the most fat of all.

Check the label of the bird you are buying. Many are injected with up to 1 cup of oil to keep them moist during cooking. If you don't overcook the turkey, you will not have this problem.

Remove the skin before cooking along with any fat that may be on the bird. The best way to keep the bird moist is to use a roasting bag. Be sure not to overcook. This seems to be the biggest problem for most people. The roasting bag does speed up the cooking time. Read the instructions carefully. You will not have the whole golden turkey to bring to the table, but many families now carve the bird in the kitchen. With the advent of the electric knife, you need to be in the kitchen near an outlet, anyway.

Cook the stuffing in a casserole dish. We all love to stuff the turkey and have the juices flavor the stuffing, but unfortunately, much of that flavoring is from fat. Cooking the stuffing in a casserole dish eliminates all this excess fat. Your leftover stuffing will last longer and be fresher, because there won't be any fat to become rancid.
"Wonderslim" makes a fabulous fat-free pie crust. I have used it for regular pumpkin pie and the fat-free chocolate crust for a pumpkin cheesecake pie. Make sure the filling you are using in these two pies is cool or at room temperature. Hot fillings cause the crust to disintegrate. "Wonderslim" piecrust is usually found in health food stores.

Cranberry sauce: Knudsen's makes a delicious sugar free cranberry sauce.

Sweet potatoes. If using canned sweet potatoes for a casserole, use the potatoes in no syrup. If you cannot find this product in your regular grocery store, try your local health food store or bake your own sweet potatoes ahead of time and then peel and use as directed in your recipe. You will have eliminated all the extra sugar.

HOLIDAY PARTIES

My advice in this area is not different than at any other time of the year.

Eat before you go. How much weight do you want to put on this year? As you get older, your metabolism slows down and weight loss takes longer and is more difficult. Remember that it takes 3 times as long to take off weight as it does to put it on. The average person gains 7-10 lbs. during the six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's. That's a whole dress size for women. How much time and effort do you want to put into exercising this winter? You probably have other things you would much rather be doing. Aren't you at the party to socialize? A large part of the holiday season is about relationships, family and seeing people you may have not seen in a while.

Remember that feasting is for once in a while, at a special occasion where food will be worth the treat.

BOB, geez, not even a hello! Hope you have a good time in Naples-too bad you don't have time to make it over to Marco while you are so close. What's new with you????

MELF, how'd the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE come out? Did you use fresh or frozen berries. I'd love to make it, but the price of blueberries is so high I thought about doing frozen, just wasn't sure how it would come out. What about the pumpkin cheesecake, SB LEGAL??? Have a good time with the family visiting your Mom today:)

THUNDER, CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB! What will you be doing-cooking for the masses? I'm sure something will come up soon for hubby, don't let it stress you out, it doesn't help matters or you when you do. Has he checked MONSTER or JOBS.COM? What field was he in? I hope all goes well with that possibility for him tomorrow-crossing the fingers. I'm sure he's been not so nice because it bothers him being out of work for the first time and that's extremely hard for a guy. ALSO, a BIG CONGRATS on another 2lb loss and getting above that 50lb mark-WOO HOO!!!

LAMAP, glad to see your posts. I know I see you post on other boards from time-to-time and it's nice to see you are somewhere on the site posting, knowing you're doing well. Sorry you won't be able to join us once again-hopefully in the future as I'm sure there will be more opportunities. That's wonderful that you are so close to another goal of yours. Before you know it, you'll be getting that full body massage. My Mom wanted to give me one years ago, but I declined, now, I'd love one-maybe for a holiday gift!

BUSDEB, don't worry about chat tonight, may not be anyone there due to the holidays. Sounds like you are going to have a "full house" with the all the family joining you-sounds like fun!

FILLISE, hope you have a good, safe trip! I don't think anyone in the family is jealous, maybe sister, but no one else-they're too old to be jealous. No, I just believe it's the sheer excitement of complaining that gets their blood flowing:lol: It doesn't bother me at all, I just find it amusing at this point. Like I told FROG yesterday, I don't give a rats *** what they really say or think. I'm happy with my weight (maybe not the way I look though), and that's what's important! Thanks for your great input on the holiday season-good advice!

ZANNE, glad to hear you're feeling better. House buying/selling sounds great-hope you find a good one to make lots of quick cash on! Better to grab the proteins than the carbs-probably hormonal. Hey, once a week is fine-whatever you can do, we know how busy everyone is these days:)

NASCAR, will look tonight to see if I have a recipe for SP SOUFFLE-if I fail to do it today, e-mail me, I tend to forget things at my age! LOL!!

Tonight is CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I don't know if anyone will show due to everyone preparing for TG or being out of town, but I will try to be in there to see if anyone else shows up in the first 15 minutes-that is, if the computer is free. I know Michael has a lot of homework to do before tomorrow, but usually he gives me the computer at this time.

And a reminder TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!! I hope and pray we all have a good WIW tomorrow. One good thing about TG being on Thursday, if you indulge a bit too much, at least you can get right back on the wagon and still have a good 6 days to work it off before the next WIW!!!:s:

Time for me to go. I have to go to the grocery store for a few items among a few other errands. I'll check in with you all later.

Way to go DEB!!!! Your excitement is justified and I'm just tickled pink for you!!!

As for me, I feel a little better today - I went home and crashed completely dressed, shoes and all, at about 7:30 :o . I got up at 10pm to get a drink of water and went back to bed - AND I ACTUALLY SLEPT!!! Had some rather weird dreams, but sleep is sleep and I really needed it!! My DH must have felt sorry for me because he washed and dried a load of towels for me last night (he NEVER does laundry) and kept the kids away so I could rest. He did all of the nightly chores except for getting the kids clothes ready, so he did real good! I'll have to make sure to thank him properly :s: . BTW, this wellbutrin I'm taking is supposed to have some "enhancing" effects in some intimate departments in addition to treating depression..... I think its kicking in!! I really feel like a fog has been lifted today!!

Lamap - My dosage starting today is .175 too! I was at .1 in April, then they upped me to .112, then to .125, then to .150 and now .175!!! My TSH numbers were MUCH closer to normal this time, so this last adjustment should get me back!! I just wonder why I started having trouble all of a sudden. I haven't lost a drastic amount of weight or anything else I know of that would cause it. Maybe time is just wearing the poor little thyroid out more and more....

Busdeb - Have a great time... Sounds like you won't miss out on much family for Thanksgiving!!

Everyone else - A BIG HELLO

Gotta run for now,

I woke up this morning having anightmare about scales- I'd gained 110 lbs and was hitting it, trying to find another one, ANYTHING to make the # change. I jumped out of bed and ran in and weighed myself, and luckily, yesterday's low still held. Whew!! Just a little too obsessed ? Also ate my first carrot since the new info and boy did it taste sweet. Nice and crunchy too. Felt like I was cheating:o

Don't know if I'll make chat this evening, just feel really wiped out and stressed. Constant fighting with my DS, and tearful phone calls from DD- she's sick, doesn't want to fly, has 3 exams on the same day and a mouse eating its way through her bedroom wall. The list is endless. I told her to transfer to a school closer to home if that will make her happy, but basically she is happy and just needs to get through the next 2 days

goota go

Thunder,Glad to hear that you found a job. Funny how some things never change huh? Praying for you that your dh doesn't drive you battie  & praying for him to find a job soon. I remember how it was for my dh when he couldn't find a job & was out of work for 4 years, but when he got one, it was a great job! Hang in the.

FILLISE, Yes, the Crunchy Pea Salad & the Blueberry Buckle are both on the recipe boards.

Debbie,WooHoo, I'm excited for you! That must have been the shout I heard coming from the SE of me early this morning ;). I used the frozen blueberries & yes, the Pumpkin Cheesecake is SB legal! Tasted that one, as I had too much for the pie plate, so I baked it in a custard cup & ate some of it last night, but the whole one is for tonight. I'll let you know how the Buckle came out after I taste it tonight. I'll try to post the cheesecake recipe on the board as soon as I finish this post.

On another, more somber note....my BIL who was on the vent died early this morning. Was scheduled to work tomorrow, but managed to find someone to replace me so that I can attend the funeral. I'm not sure if it's ell the stress of it all, or the north wind bringing in the cold front this morning, but I have been having so much mouth pain today! The Trigeminal Neurolgia is really kicking. I have been having a little more break-through pain for the past couple of weeks, but not like this. Guess I'll have to up the medication again like the doc told me.

Well, got to go. Hope all of you ladies have a blest Thanksgiving. Will try to check back in on Friday, as I should be off then. See ya!

Tonight begins my Thanksgiving holiday and boy am I ready for a break! :)

Deb: Congrats on the new low and the anniversary. You have been very disciplined and dedicated to a healthy way of life. That alone is worth celebrating. My daughters were out of school the last two days because our school district has two staff development days scheduled. Teachers work, but students get a week off for Thanksgiving. I grew up in Louisiana and we always had a week because teachers went to the state convention. It's nice but the down side is that we have so many breaks in the fall and few in the spring when we are really sick of seeing each other at school every day. :dizzy:

Thunder: Congrats on the new, old job. Funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same, especially in Central Louisiana! ;) Hope hubby's job offer comes through. I know how badly they can get on your nerves when they are around all the time. I can't get anything done when mine is home.

Fillese: Hope things around your way ease up soon. Why can't we be civilized in this civilized world? Keep good thoughts about staying OP and you'll be able to hang in there. Don't beat yourself down over things you can't control. I still refer to the Serenity Prayer I learned at ALANON at times when things begin to overwhelm.

Melf: I'm so sorry about your loss. I pray for you and the family of your BIL. This is such an awful time to be losing someone. We had a young lady, 16, die from injuries sustained in a pick-up truck accident. She fell out of the back 2 weeks ago and passed away on Saturday. Such a shame.

Mel: You daughter sounds like my son. He called last Thrs. night, a rarity since his "weekend" minutes are almost unlimited, and said he was fed up with school. He can't wait to get home tomorrow, doesn't know what he wants to do, just wants to get here. He and his dad will go to see the Stars hockey game. They are playing Carolina so it will be a great game to watch!. I wasn't invited. :(

Music: What do you think about this weather? Late middle November and I just today brought in my plants. My hubby grumbles every year, but I have a ficus tree that I've had longer than we've been married (23 yrs) and I won't let it die!

Sparkle: Hope you are doing okay!!!!! Have a wonderful, warm Thanksgiving in paradise.

It's time to put the chicken on the grill. Hope you all have a wonderful, OP holiday. Won't be on chat because our choir director called a practice tonight since there are no services tomorrow. We have our Christmas musical next month and we have to memorize the music for the first time.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

Ok... This is a mixed happy and some other emotion post.

First the happy. Since I tomorrow off, I had a WIT rather than a WIW. I am happy to say that I am down a pound. And after weighing in I had another trip to the powder room if you know what I mean girls! I say it again, I hope this is a trend!

OK, now the whatever. I won the "Queen of Sole" award last evening and the prize was the "Queen of SOUL" Aretha Franklin's best cd. Great! They even gave me a sash to wear and everything. I did have the most creative pair there. The hostess went all out and had a terrific array of food, table decorations, etc. The night did not go off without a hitch for me though. I got the expected comment from Spewer, but I am so cautious of her that anything she says I find suspect. She made some comment that she couldn't believe that I owned the shoes that I glued everything onto. Hellloooo! I bought the shoes for the purpose of decorating them! But the continuous 'blah, blah, blah" about the people in her family and how they are doing this and that... BARF!!! NO ONE wants to hear what she has to say except her! And what is even sadder is that if people aren't responding, she will keep repeating herself in hopes that she will get the attention that she so desperately needs.

The other development in this group of women is the little subgroup that has developed. It makes some, like me, feel awkward. Anyway, I'm sure it comes as no surprise that Spewer is the ring leader! One of her pals decided to make a comment about something I said in a conversation with another person. When I found myself defending myself to people who don't really care HOW I feel, I got angry. I looked at one of my friends and quietly and calmly said, "It's not worth it, I think I will go home." I got to the car and saw that I was blocked in by a friend. I went back in and asked the hostess to please ask her to come and move her car. When she got to my car she asked me if I was OK and I burst into tears and sobbed. She was wonderful and offered to do 1000 things to make it better for me. She was a TRUE friend. She encouraged me to come back in and to make the most of the evening. I was glad that I did and was embarrassed at my inability to keep my emotions in check. This few women in a group of several that I enjoy make things difficult for me at times. :( Still feel like I am growing up.

My head hurts tonight and I am not positive that I will be at chat. I will be home tomorrow and will try to post when I can. Hubby and I are going to his parents Wed night and we'll be back home on Thursday evening. Wish me luck with MIL.

Sorry not to respond to everyone, but after just rehashing last night my head hurts a little more.

More later. Take Care All!

Peace,
FROG

Hi All!

I wanted to pop in to share this with you. I found a little recipe book at the checkout in the grocery store. It has a lot of recipes that are SB legal or can be easily made SB legal. I can't wait to try the brown rice pudding--it uses sugar, but I'll try it with agave.

Anyway, it's put out by Prevention and is called: "Outsmart Diabetes Cookbook" It says to display it till january, so it must have just come out.

Just thought some of you might like to check it out.

Liz--Here’s some veggie ideas for lunch:
Buy red and yellow bell peppers, some yellow summer squash, some zucchini, one or two sweet onions (or yellow onions if you can’t find sweet onions) and some eggplant. Slice the eggplant, the peppers into strips and the squash diagonally into half inch slices. Cut the onions into wedges, about 10 per onion, leaving root end intact to hold slices together. Spray all with pam on both sides and roast in 400 degree oven for 15-20 min each side. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and just a little balsamic vinegar. Voila! Roasted veggies for a wonderful veggie stuffed pita sandwich. Roast enough veggies for several servings.

Or, make vegetable soup, a big pot and freeze some of it for later servings.

Cook up a big pot of greens using frozen greens and Wiley’s Greens Seasonings to make it yummy. Have greens for lunch along with some black eyed peas or other bean.

Have a salad sandwich, with lettuce and tomatoes, cukes, etc. etc. stuffed into a WW pita.

Fix a bunch of vegetable dishes, like you would fix for dinner, and just have them for lunch. Treat yourself!
Hope that gives you some help.

Hello there! I wrote a post two nights ago, added a pic, then lost it all! Ugh! So now, I'm writing it in WP, and I'll copy and paste.

Everyone, have a Great Thanksgiving!

Re: TG - I told my DS of SB WOE, but kept it to the basics, no white rice or potatoes, WG, WW, and fructose (artificial sugars). She's been very willing to modify Turkey day to help me stay on track. There's even a Whole Foods 15min away from her! So, if I'm really limited, I can go there and get some staples. I think I posted that I was going to try to stay OP, but I didn't want DS to have to go out of her way for me, so I'd probably cheat. Sounds like DH will help me stay OP, just like a best friend. :)

I made the crustless Pumpkin Pie Debelli posted, but baked it in a WW pie crust. I was re-reading the pie shell ingredients, and there is a fair amount of butter in the crust, so it's not exactly low-fat. Oh well, you can't win them all. Can't wait to try it. :D

I got some kudos today at work. A coworker said, "your pants are getting baggy". I've noticed clothes aren't fitting as well now, but it's nice that someone else has noticed it! Everyone has been very tolerant of my WOE, especially when it comes up so much at lunch Yesterday, we went to a place where they have REAL strawberry shakes, which I used to share with my coworker. She didn't even mention it, until after we had ordered. She said she wasn't going to tempt me. Then another coworker said "You are being so good". It really helps to get those motivational phrases from others.

Meliris - good going on the weight loss–30#! Sounds like you have the motivation to get through Turkey Day!

Welcome aboard, Crickett!

TV - Oh, I wish DH did SB too. It would make things so much easier. He feels guilty when he has something I can't. Which makes me feel bad for doing WOE. Luckily, SB is so adaptable. If I want potatoes, I can have sweet ones, if I want rice, I can have brown rice, etc....

Frog -thanks for the testimonial. I really needed to hear that. Wow, 15# over the holidays! Perhaps, the one good thing about work worries, is no one wants an X-mas party this year, so it's been cancelled. I usually drink way too much (I justify it by dancing all night - it burns off right? :s: ) So, that won't happen this X-mas.

Deb - Maybe your fam thinks you've gone to opposite extreme. One family member lost a lot of weight during a difficult time, and we were all so worried. We kept telling her she was too thin, didn't look healthy, etc.... Then, she became defensive. Luckily, she pulled out of her slump, but it was scary for a while there.

At least they care for you (even in a Jewish way!). I went to Taiwan 2 yrs ago to visit my DM's family. The last time I had seen them, I was 12. It was going fine, until I visited my DM's oldest brother. I know few words in Chinese/Taiwanese. But one of them is "da", and it followed my name. It means BIG. In case I didn't understand the words, he made the universal gesture (arms out as if holding a very large ball). Now my DM explained to me that in Taiwan, if you tell someone they are big, it is a sign of concern for that person. Well, I couldn't swallow that, and the rest of my trip was just FLAT. I was VERY depressed. That's family for you.

Thanks for the encouragement (and the cattle prod :)). I hope to talk to everyone after the holidays too. A slip, even a big one isn't so bad, if the wagon comes around again. It's the intention/dedication that counts, not the mistake!

BusDeb - this year we are NOT going camping at TG. It has been 8 years or so in the running for our annual TG camping retreat. Unfortunately this year, there's not so much interest. So we're visiting DS and family instead. I hope you get lots of R&R, and enjoy the camping!

Melf - I'm sending prayers for your family and your BIL's.

GatorGal - I love B&B's. Someone else does the cooking/cleaning! My DH and I went to one for Valentines Day once. The hostess served breakfast one day, some custard with grapes. We were so impressed we asked her what it was. She just looked at us and said "yogurt...with grapes." I don't know where she got that yogurt or if it was a secret recipe, but I've never had it since. Are you going to post the Indian pudding recipe?

Rosalie - Thanks for the mendosa site re: chana dal, and the info on sourdough and pasta That pita sounds good. Do you use a stove-top smoker like he does for that one recipe? I don't know if the extra carbs (carbons, that is :D) are good for you. I grew up with ginger slices in recipes. I've also had the experience of biting down on a ginger slice thinking it's a piece of chicken. Don't forget to remove them once you're done cooking!

Frog - congrats on the Size 10. I can't wait till I reach that goal! Didn't do WIW, but jumped to 137# that day. I'm usually fluctuating between 139-141#.

I'm going to sign off now, I hope I posted to everyone. See you after TG. :)

good morning

i won't post a weight today as i am off and will weigh in on friday at work. i am trying desperately to keep weighing on the same scale each time. unfortunately for me the recovery room where i work will be open for surgeries on my favorite shopping day, no early birds or doorbusters for me the day after thanksgiving! i suppose my checkbook will be happy. as my kids get older though there are not really any things i need to stand in line early for anyway.

it was nice chatting last nite Debbie, congrats on your all time low weight. you have given me lots of inspiration over the past month.i am very THANKFUL i found this site and all you guys. i may not post everyday but i do faithfully check out the board everyday. you all are really there for each other and your care and concern for each other is very evident, you all deserve a big pat on the back!

thanksgiving here will be pretty laid back. my husbands mother passed away in october so no going to grandmas this year.my parents and my father in law have all died within the last 5 years and the rest of our family are up north so a very quiet dinner on thursday.

the weekend will busy, saturday we take my son back to orlando early and then will stay for the UCF game. he is a redshirt freshman on their football team, i love watching the team run on the field. he is the biggest one at 6ft9in and tends to stand out! for any of you who see the orlando news he is #76 if there is any report on the sports news.we will probably stay overnite and take my 9 year old to the mall in orlando to get an outfit for her build a bear "betsy" and then maybe see the harry potter movie.

hope everyone has a healthy and happy thanksgiving. i hope to stay sb legal over the weekend, my triscuits will be in my purse!

thankful for all you guys,

chris

CONGRAD DEB ON THE 75 pounds!!
Not a good WIW for me I'm up 1.5 so that's not a good start to the day! Not sure what's going on it may be my meds. (Been taking claritin for my sinus and my glocofage for my sugar.)
 Well today is a new day so will try to stay focused. I know I need to exercise. I use to be so dedicated and now I can't seem to get back into the swing. Once you fall off it's hard to get back, at least for me anyway. I know I will get lots of walking in tomorrow, going shopping, although it's not the aerobic walking :^: .
Enough whinning... hope all of you have a good day!

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING:wave:

[IT'S WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY TODAY!!!!

For WIW I HIT A NEW LOW TODAY!!!!!!:spin: Okay, I really didn't expect this, thought the best I would do is to stay the same, but nope, I'm down another 1/2lb. to 118.50!!!!!:spin: NOW, back to reality here-I know this is the usual trend right before TOM and that next week I will be showing a gain of a few pounds, but heck, this was surely a nice surprise!!!:D

Eli is off today and we are headed up to Broward for the usual lunch at Ole Ole (no, we never get sick of this place!) and Carbolite, to go find a few toys for the toy drive at his work, hit the grocery store for a few items and a few other stops along the way. Going to try and get home at a fairly early hour so I can start cooking/baking.

Speaking of baking, created a new OATMEAL BAR that came out quite good, even Michael liked it and asked immediately for seconds. I'm going to see if I can make it into a cookie, if so, they'll be a good keeper!

TV, thanks for sharing in my joy yesterday. I really love sharing my ups with you all. More so than family. It's good you got some unexepected sleep yesterday, sounds like you've been pooped. Hey, maybe you should try to do that again, who knows, hubby may end up cleaning the whole house AND cook dinner! LOL!

MEL, TV having weird dreams, you having nightmares of scales-those imaginations are running wild as you sleep! 110lb gain, that truly would be a nightmare! I bet that carrot was good. I do like them to snack on and probably will find myself munching on one in the near future;)

MELF, did you hear me this morning too? You mentioned you tasted the pumpkin cheesecake but didn't give your review on it. Hope the Blueberry Buckle came out well, let me know. I'm sorry to hear about your BIL and the loss the family is going through. I know I can speak not only for myself, but for the entire board in saying all our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. How is the other BIL doing? How's your mouth today. I'm sure it's bothering you due to the stress.

JRED, thanks for recognizing and rejoicing in my low and SB ANNIVERSARY tomorrow! Boy, the kids are lucky to have the week off there, my kids would love it-me, on the other hand, would not. It's enough that they are out for 2 weeks next month!

FROG, CONGRATS on getting another pound off and moving in the right direction! That's wonderful news. And CONGRATS for winning the QUEEN OF SOUL! Sounds like you took the crown without a hitch. I do believe miss SPEWER is just so green with envy and jealous, she doesn't know what to do with herself. I really would just put her in her place-I'm sure you would have others breathing a sigh of relief as well as telling you they wish they could do the same! Don't let a piece of trash like her bother you-not worth it.

ZANNE, hope you will share some of those recipes you found with us on Thursdays-will look for it down here in the store. Thanks for the heads up on it!

TREE, can't remember how that pie came out, so don't hold me responsible if it royally sucks! That was one of my first attempts at baking something that I ate, I believe.:^: Let me know what you think-good or bad! Isn't it nice to be noticed for looking as well as doing something positive-positively wonderful I should say, for yourself!!!

BIGK, thanks for the chat too, always nice to have the opportunity to "speak" with you:) Looking forward to meeting you in about 6 weeks!!
Thanks for the kind words. You and the rest of the gals on this board are my inspiration. I'm sure as time goes on, you'll find just what I mean, more and more. Good luck for WIF, let us know how you do!!

NASCAR, don't worry about that 1.5, probably something hormonal, or water weight, etc. I know it's easy to say not to let it bother you, but try not to. As long as you are doing your best, this will reflect positively on the scale in a day or so and that 1.5lbs will just disappear just as it showed up:)

Gals, gotta run and get in the shower. Will check in with you all this evening!

HAVE A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING TOMORROW!!!!

DEBBIE - 118.5 - I'M SPEECHLESS..... BIG TIME (((HUG))) FOR YOU!!!

My WIW was good too, I hit a new low by 1/2 lb:
159/145.5/125 since 6/4/01

I wasn't expecting that as I have been up by a couple the last few days, but I did drink LOTS of water yesterday and hit the bathroom quite often - I guess it paid off!!! :D

Not really looking forward to tomorrow - it should be interesting to see how everything works out and how everyone holds up.

The company that does tombstones finally got my Daddy's footmarker up yesterday. I haven't seen it yet as I don't go to the cemetary often like the others seem to do. Mom said it looks nice - I guess I'll swing by and look later today. I'm afraid when I see it with his name, reality will kick in and it won't be a pretty moment for me.

I need to run, will respond to the rest of you all a little later!

TV, THANKS! I think that cheerleader is for both of us! CONGRATS on this weeks loss, and a new low for you as well!!! Can you believe that just 1 more pound and you'll be under the 20lbs to go point-it's an awesome place to be, like near the end of a race!!! Like you, I've been downing the water better than I usually do and have been hitting potty's all over town! I'm sure you'll find some solace in seeing how nice the stone for your Dad came out-my thoughts are with you:)

Gotta run, really, Eli is waiting for me to get him from the garage (getting brakes done).

Tree--The Indian Pudding was just a little joke! The Gators played the Florida State Seminoles last Saturday and beat them good! So, that was my little reference to indian pudding. Big Orange and I had been yakking it up with SEC big-mouthing, and some of the women got a little upset with us. So I decided to low-key it and see if anyone could decipher my undercover references to the Gators’ victories. I think BOB was the only one who got the joke. We play BOB’s favorite team, the U. of Tenn. Volunteers in Gainesville on Dec. 1. So I’m hoping to have some fun talking about dog bones (their mascot is a blue tic hound dog) rather than poor ole Gator bones.

One of the major yogurt makers used to make a custard yogurt and that may have been what you had at that B&B. I am not a lover of yogurt, but I did like that kind of yogurt! It probably had a lot of sugar in it though, as it was like dessert. I don’t check out the yogurt section very much, so I don’t even know if that custurd yogurt is available any more. It came in one of those skinnier taller yogurt cartons, rather than the shape that the regular Dannon carton is like.

Debbie--I know you are having fun with your continued loss of weight. Congrats! Are you still weighing every day? Is that scale still a BIG part of your daily routine? Do you check it out several times a day? Just wondering.

I’m down a pound. I notice that since I’ve been eating much lower fat that it is easier to lose. That is also when I started the Synthroid. So I’m not sure which is causing the drop of weight. I am starting to think it is the lower fat, though, because, even though I was very careful this past weekend, I still did not have a loss last week. I think that might be because we ate out at restaurants over the weekend, and there is no way I can control how they cook, or the amount of fat ends up in the food.

I’ve gotta run to the animal control place today. Last night the biggest raccoon I’ve ever seen came on our porch looking for cat food. When I saw him, I ran to the porch and he scurried away with a snarl. So I have to get a cat trap and hopefully capture that monster. Have a bunch of other chores, plus French class tonight, so I’m off for a busy day. Take care all you weight losers. Keep up the good work.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Deb - Congrats on getting down to 118.5 pounds - if my calculations are correct that is 10 1/2 pounds BELOW your goal weight. So even if you go up a couple next week as you expect you'll still be below goal. Way to go.

Tree - Doesn't it feel good when the clothes start to get loose. And more so when others start to notice. You're lucky to have such supportive co-workers. I don't know which recipe you mean with the stove top smoker. You'll have to enlighten me. It must be a new recipe since I last checked out the site. I was very careful in taking out the ginger. I don't think I would like to bite down on a piece. I counted the pieces I put in - the same as I do when I use cardamom seeds. I love the flavor of them but hate to bite them.

Melf - Sorry to hear about your bil. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Gator - I'm glad you explained about the indian pudding. You had me wondering what the heck it was all about.

Frog - I'm happy to see you are down another pound and congrats for being Queen of Sole. It's just too bad that you have to put up with the Spewer at these events. If I ever get down to meet you I will make sure I bring my racket and birdie with me. :)

Have to go jump in the shower and get out to the stores. I'm lookin for some new drapes for my living room. The ones I have have been up so long I feel a need for a change. I did 4 miles on the SB this morning and will be off to badminton this evening.

I can finally post a loss 2 1/2 lbs (175/144.5/13???) on WIW! Seems like its been at least 3 or 4 weeks, I always end up higher on Wednesdays. Congrats to every one else whose lost or stayed the same! We're all being especially good just before turkey day?:D
I'm so happy I finally went down, my new clothes are getting baggy too! Glad I only bought 2 pairs of pants and a bra ( unfortunatley that seems to get too big faster than the pants
:( ). I Actually squeezed, and I mean squeezed into a pair of size 8 jeans yesterday, but I didn't buy them. It wasn't a real pretty sight yet. They will be my Christmas wish!

DD got so disgusted at having to stay at school for 2 extra days because of the run-around the airlines gave her, that she hopped in her car and drove 8 hours home yesterday by herself. I was very nervous to say the least, but she made it safe and sound and with no speeding tickets. Next one is definitely going to school closer to home!

Can't respond to everyone today, DS is agitating for the computer. But Yeah Froggie! Queen of Sole and 1 less pound to boot:lol: and {{{{HUGS}}}} DEB on SB Anniversary and new REALLY low!

Have a great Thanskgiving, got to got sling heavy metal to eventaully get into those size eights, then on to making pie crusts- SGWW of course!

Hi! No WIW to report today. I really overdid it at our TG dinner at church last night. Didn't go to much off plan, but I ate way to much salty foods. We had mexican pot luck instead fo traditional TG food. I felt so swollen when I got up that I didn't even want to try the scales.:( I've been downing the water today so maybe that will help. We're out of school today thru Sun. :) I needed a break. I basically in a real funk lately, mostly due to finances. Dennis still isn't working much and he's really down about things too. But, when I look around and see all the blessing that I do have I feel like I really shouldn't be complaining about anything.

j red: Isn't this weather great? Quite a shock to go from the low being in the 60's to freezing, but that's NE TX for you. :dizzy:

Debbie: Congrats on the new low

Hope everyone has a good TG.

Evening All:wave:

Got home a little bit ago and thought I'd try to get on a post before I started some cooking for tomorrow.

Day was uneventful, just ran in and out of a few stores, lunch and Carbolite. Didn't want to get home too late, otherwise I'd of liked to have gone to a movie today.

We are leaving tomorrow around 11am and have a little less than 2 hour drive to get to WPB. I'm not going to try and make any good timing in the car-cops are going to be out aplenty tomorrow. My Aunt is serving appetizers around 1am, then about 2pm, dinner-don't understand why she needs the appetizers, enough food with the dinner, I'm sure. I will stay totally SB LEGAL tomorrow, no doubt about it. Even with the knowledge of my Mom making her wonderful NY style cheesecake that she hasn't made in many years, I still will stay legal:)

It's nice to see the polling results thus far-no one thinks they are going to have a gain between today and NY's day-that would be music to my ears, or should I say eyes!!!

GATOR, CONGRATS on the 1lb loss! Yes, I am guilty of not only weighing in each and every day, but many times a day. Definitely a big part of my daily routine, but as I have said months ago, come the NY, I am making a resolution to put the scale away and only bring it out once or twice a week (gotta start somewhere, I guess). I'll have someone in the house hide it from my and just bring it out when requested. I may go through major withdrawls though! Happy RACCOON hunting!

ROSALIE, thanks for the holiday wishes. Your math is phenomenal, you are right 10.5lbs under my goal weight-can't believe I am at this point. I really didn't expect to get down this low-I thought I'd be lucky to get to 129! I can see what being dedicated to something really means now. I hope you found those drapes and have a good time playing badminton tonight-WTG on the SB and doing 4 miles! I'm sure you'll get out from that 196 soon!!! I'm always pulling for you!!:D

MEL, WOO HOO! That's a great loss this week! Good for you! CONGRATS!

CATLOVER, great holiday greeting pic. you posted-THANKS!!!

MUSIC, a Mexican TG, sounds interesting! I'm sure with some water and getting back OP, you'll flush all that salt (and fat) out of your system quickly.

I'll check in with you all later this evening, or tomorrow after my walk.

Again, I wish you all a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

My Mother just sent this to me, I just had to share!! LOL!!

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING

'Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the kitchen;
I was cooking and baking and moaning' and *****in.'
I've been here for hours, I can't stop to rest,
This place is a disaster, just look at this mess!
Tomorrow I've got thirty people to feed,
They expect all the trimmings? Who cares what I need!
My feet are both blistered, I've got cramps in my legs,
The dog just knocked over a bowl full of eggs.
There's a knock at the door and the telephone's ringing;
Frosting drips on the counter as the microwave's dinging.
Two pies in the oven, dessert's almost done;
My cookbook is soiled with butter and crumbs.
I've had all I can stand, I can't take anymore;
Then walks in my husband, spilling rum on the floor.
He heaves and he wobbles, his balance unsteady;
Then grins as he chuckles "The eggnog is ready!"
He looks all around and with total regret,
Says "What's taken' so long?
Aren't you through in here yet??"
As quick as a flash I reach for a knife;
He loses an earlobe; I wanted his life!
He flees from the room in terror and pain,
and screams "MY GOD WOMAN, YOU'RE GOING INSANE!!"
Now what was I doing, and what is that smell?
Oh, crap, it's the pies!! They're burned all to ****!!
I hate to admit when I make a mistake,
But I put them on BROIL instead of on BAKE.
What else can go wrong?? Is there still more ahead??
If this is good living, I'd rather be dead.
Lord, don't get me wrong, I love holidays;
They just leave me exhausted, all shaky and dazed.
But I promise you one thing, If I live 'til next year,
You won't find me pulling my hair out in here.
I'll hire a maid, a cook, and a waiter;
And if that doesn't work, I'LL HAVE IT ALL CATERED!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I'm up at this ungodly hour, woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep once my mind started to think about all I still had to do. Don't know how in the world I got to making these foods. The stuffing recipe I posted I tried to half the recipe, I need to add to it, so that's on my agenda (will explain later on-must talk about 2 small loaves when it calls for such in the recipe), still have pumpkin pie to make, not that I have to, just had the hankering to try a new recipe, and hummus. Also, want to get in my walk-but now so tired, more like a dead-mans crawl.

ROSALIE, glad you like the poem:) How'd the APPLE BETTY come out this time???

BOB, I know you aren't going to see this til you get home, so I hope you had a good time with your family:)

THUNDER, glad to hear your hubby's unemployment came through and he's feeling better now. I'm sure something solid will come his way soon, have faith. Just ask NANCE (should she ever get her butt on her to post), her and DAN were having a really touch time and everything turned around for them in a positive way when they didn't think there was a silver lining around the corner:)

Heard from VIV via e-mail. Just to let you know she's thinking about us all but not into posting right at this time. You all know her Dad has had some major health problems recently-he is now in the hospital and not doing well at all. It's tuff for her being thousands of miles away and not being able to go see him. Just know she is reading the board, but not in the up mood that she usually is to post at this time. VIV, our thoughts are with you and your Dad!!!

Okay, I'm off to the kitchen to tackle this pie recipe. I bought a WW crust they had on sale at WILD OATS but will save it for some other use-decided to try a wheat germ crust-less calories and fats than the store bought one!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!!

hi everyone,

sorry have not posted too much. I have been coming to the sites and been reading the posts.Today will be the test we are going to my neighbors house for dinner. my neighbor joe is a wonderful cook of course not legal. So I will be bringing legal items. On sunday will be doing my first ever 1/2 marathon, it is here locally in melbourne.I know I won't be breaking any time records but i just want to finish. While training I walked 10 miles in 2hrs 45min. But i have noticed I slow down as the miles increase, because on my 6 mile walks ican do 14 min miles. Well regardless of the time the most important thing for me to remember is that I just started walking this kind of distance 5 months ago and i have been doing the best I can. I think sometimes we are too hard on ourselves when it comes to time. Sure we would like to walk or run quicker but does it really matter? At least we are exercising and not sitting on the couch eating illegal food and watching tv.

I do have a question for frog and deb When you walk/ run the long distances and are using supplements Protein bars are you using the low carb ones or regular ones. I have been using both just curious if the low carb ones will give same energy as the reg ones.

Deb Keep up the good work the weight loss is wonderful

bkm I will be thinking of you at work on friday. i will be walking early am then i will be shopping. maybe i will call you at work and bother you. Just kidding it actually feels weird not to have to work the day after since I have the lst two plus years

well bye for now

Hi....I found this forum doing a search for Sugar Buster discussion boards.I'm hoping I have the right thread here for my question.
I'm just going to start SB and my question is: Is the 14 day menu plan in the book for beginners of the plan? I read somewhere that it was the maintenance menu plan. I'm really confused and hope someone can help me!

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Again:wave:

Just got back from doing my 4.5 miles. Did get in jogging and though I didn't break any time records, I was able to do it in 49:40, not so bad;) Hoped on the metal monster this morning, 119. Sunday or Monday TOM is due, so I am anticipating a rise on the scale over the next few days.

TODAY IS MY 20 MONTH SB ANNIVERSARY! I can't believe in just a few more months it will be 2 years that I've been following this WOE. I really feel like when someone is a vegetarian and they say "I've been a vegetarian for xx years." We should come up with something catchy in regards to those of us who will be following this WOE for years to come! And another thought, a couple more weeks and I'll have 6 months of having met my goal weight!!!

I made the PUMPKIN PIES Pies, meaning two as I made them in 2 8" disposable pans and will take one. I kept baking them not realizing that the middle would set after taking them out of the oven, so not quite sure what they will taste like. May try to slice into the one that's staying here to determine if the other one will be going!:^: The stuffing, okay, this is what happened. The recipe sounded like a lot, calling for 2 loaves of SOURDOUGH BREAD. Since I really only wanted to make an amount for me and Michael (because he won't eat other stuffing due to chicken broth that's usually in it) and maybe someone else who wanted to be a guinea pig, I thought I'd make half the recipe. I used the RUDYS SOURDOUGH BREAD which is VERY thick and dense bread and it must be the loaves of who ever wrote this recipe must of been small and lighter than what I had, because it made a LOT of bread cubes! So I had double the amount of bread and since I halfed the recipe, not as much of the celery, onions seasonings, etc. etc. PLUS, it called for marinated artichoke hearts, I had canned water packed in the house. Only used 2 pieces, didn't like the taste of them much-def. the marinated would of been good in there (next year). So, this morning, I got up and sauteed the other half of the onions, garlic, celery and mushrooms, along with the spices and a bit more mushroom broth and added it into the stuffing and I'm going to bake it in a few-it's delicious now! Still have to make some hummus, which will only take a few seconds.

I want to take todays holiday to tell you all how THANKFUL I AM TO HAVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU IN MY LIFE! During this time of thanks and realizing just what's important in life, I realize just how much I have to be thankful for, good health, good kids, good family, many good things! BUT, your presence in my life has been a godsend! I could NEVER be where I am today without you all, and that is in many aspects, not just with my weight. Even though I have yet to meet many of you, I still feel a bond to you even though you are so far away. I've been fortunate enough to be able to meet quite a few of you though, and that is another wonderful thing I can be thankful for. Just know that I really care about you all, and you are each important to me!!!:D

ZSU, nice to see your post:) I wish you loads of luck at the marathon. I'm sure you'll do everyone proud, including mostly, yourself. That's a great accomplishment! Wish you lived closer, would love to have a buddy to encourage me to go to this AVON 3 DAY in April-we both could die trying to do 60 miles!!! Really though, for only walking for a few months, you are making some good times. We all peter out as the miles get longer, no one can keep up the same stamina. I personally don't eat protein bars, or take supplments.

Time to get a few things done before I get the kids up and I hop in the shower.

Welcome Carol45 --there are a couple of us Canucks here. I can't help you out with the menu plan question. I'm not one to follow set menus. I just try to eat SB legal foods and try to limit my fats and carbs. I plod along doing the best I can. I'm sure somebody will be able to answer your question tho.

WTG LIZ on the pound gone:D

ZSU Nice to see you post

DEB Congrats on 20 months. WOW:eek: I have a long way to go to reach that milestone, but I think this WOE is great and easy to follow, so I'll get there eventually.

Ok, I was just checking up on the board and had a couple of minutes for a few replies. gotta go get some work done.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL WHO ARE CELEBRATING TODAY

I just wanted to say thank you to everybody on this board and let you know how much I appreciate all of you:)

Finished 3 pumpkin pies, 1 is SB legal, other 2 are for those who swear they can't stand artificial sweeteners ( I used splenda and agave) or sgww crusts. Now I and the pies are cooling down after a long workout. Just have to take a shower, make a salad, round up the troops and drive to my step-sister's- about 1/2 hour away.

have a good Thanksgiving everybody!

HI Everyone,

I want to wish each of you a wonderful Holiday and a great chance to rest and enjoy the Family, and Friends that we have.

We all have so much to be thankful for, and I know I am so glad for this board and the wonderful people here, even if I don;t get a chance to post but once or twice a week. I am so grateful for the support that you all give me.

Just wanted to share with you that I met another goal this morning. I walked in my first 5K!!!. Now I know thaqt others are training for mush bigger and better runs, but you have to start some where and this was my start. I went with a girlfriend so I didn't time myself, she walks much slower that I, did I got my but out of bed and a day off and went out there at 6:45 and walked with over 300 other runners and walkers. It was a great time.

Anyway, got to get running to the family thing, and just stopped ny to wish you all a great day.
Enjoy the turkey, we can do twice as much exercise tomorrow!!

Evening All:wave:

We're home-lunner (lunch/dinner) was good. I easily stayed SB LEGAL, not a problem at all, not even with Mom's famous cheesecake staring me in the face!!:D I really impressed myself with my culinary skills of today. Everything I made came out wonderful and got great reviews, esp. the PUMPKIN PIE, which, even though it was SB LEGAL, I ate entirely too much-sorta to the tune of 1/2 a pie possibly (if not more!) It's really delicious and even Mom said itw was a keeper. The crust was even good, which I made with WHEAT GERM. Hopey ou all enjoyed your time with your family and friends!

CAROL,WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! Your fellow Canadians will be happy to see you! Sorry, I missed your post earlier, I just didn't see it when I posted my post:rolleyes: Many people say that the daily menus in the book are for those on maintenance, I personally NEVER followed it at all, actually just glanced at it and figured that there must be just more mistakes in that section of the book, so I wasn't bothering with it. There are many things in the book that are misleading, unfortunately-this is one of them. It does have some good ideas to go by, but things like the instant oatmeal contradicts what the book says. I think in time, you learn by asking questions-this is truly a learning experience. So, with that, don't be afraid to ask questions, we'll all be more than happy to try and help:D

ZANNE, thanks for the congrats-trust me, 20months have flown by quickly and I for one never in my life thought when I started SB I'd be able to follow this like I have.

MEL, hope you enjoyed you TG. How'd your SB LEGAL PUMPKIN PIE turn out??

LAMAP, CONGRATS on your walking-you've made some "great strides!"

SZU, glad to hear those pounds left just as they came-unknowingly. That happens to me at certain times of the month and I know as long as I'm patient, they'll disappear just as mysteriously as they showed up. The AVON 3 DAY starts in BOCA RATON and ends in MIAMI. It's the end of April and you sleep in a tent for 2 nights and walk 60 miles over that time. I just sent out for a brochure, so if you want, I can let you know more about it when the info arrives. You can also check out their website: http://www.bethepeople.com

Gotta run-see you sometime tomorrow morning. May hit KMART in the early AM, they have a few things I would like to get-but if the crowds look too menacing, I'm heading home-not worth fighting down here-you could get killed!

Hope all had a wonderful day. I also want to give THANKS for all you wonderful ladies on this board. I may not post as much as I would like to, & often do not get to respond to you individually, but all of you do mean alot to me. I'm so grateful to be a part of this group.

Tree, Rosalie, Thunder, Meliris, Debbie, & others, I may have missed, Thanks for all the thoughts & prayers offered up for my family & that of my BIL. Debbie asked about the other BIL (Bobby). They released him from the hospital in order for him to attend his older brother's funeral. He looks sooooo bad. Pale, swollen & in much pain. Had to be pushed in a wheel chair. Don't know how much longer he'll be able to hang on, but at least he's trying.

Review of the Pumpkin Cheesecake with Almond crust....delicious! Blueberry Buckle made from frozen blueberries...wonderful!! I recommend both & will surely be making these again during the holidays.

Debbie,WooHoo, Girl, you are doing great!! I'm trying harder to get under the 140 mark, just can't seem to get it to stick, but I'm still plugging away. Still having some mouth pain. I have increased the medication again, but still having break-through pain. I have an appt with my Neurologist Monday am.

zsuzsuu Welcome to the board!

Carol45 Welcome!!! I remember when I first started SB, I followed that 14 day sample menu as a guide & did lose on it. I didn't realize that it was a maintenance menu till much later.

ThunderAgain, so happy to hear about the unemployment finally coming through for your dh & congrats on the new job for you. Will continue to pray fro him to find a new job soon. Keep up the good work on the weight lose.

FILLISE, Glad you like the recipes. Both of those was a hit at the church supper.

Time to hit the hay. It's been raining since late afternoon & I have not been able to warm up all evening. See ya!

Good Friday Morning!

Just got in from my walk. I had my SECOND BEST WALK/JOG TIME EVER!!!:spin: I did my 4.5 miles in 47:33, only 6 seconds over my best time-needless to say, I was pleased!:D

For the first time in the 20 years I've been out on my own I got up and went shopping the day after TG. I NEVER go, but did manage to go to KMart. I was making a potty call at 4am and decided to go when they opened at 5am. I didn't buy much at all, mostely batteries and a few games for the toy drive at Eli's work. I really don't need to buy all that much for anyone, just the kids big presents which I already know what to get (since they told me) and a few odds and ends.

The scale is up for me again today, back to 120. Not fretting because I know it's hormonal:rolleyes:

MELF, glad to hear both your desserts were a hit! Can't wait to see the cheesecake recipe! I LOVE CHEESECAKE!!! Sorry to hear your other BIL isn't doing better. Thank goodness he was able to attend his brother's funeral, though I'm sure it must of been taxing on his already fragile condition. I'm sure you will be getting under the 140 mark. I remember when everyone was consoling me when I couldn't get under 136 and told me that maybe my body was happy at that weight, which COULD of been true, but my body was just taking a little vacation, it seemed, cause look at me now! NEVER did I ever think I'd be this weight in my lifetime. I really wish my Mother had my records and charts from when I was a young girl-it sure would be interesting to see when the last time I was in this general area-but it has to be elementary school!

Found these on the web, good for a quick laugh:

Thanksgiving is over,
All the eating is done.
Will anyone eat more?
At the point of a gun!

The turkey's gone cold,
The gravy is sludge.
And we're all too tired,
From our asses to budge.

But, Ho, what is this?
Something special's in store.
For the malls open early,
Three hours, or more!

In all our excitement,
We passed o're one thing.
All the stores out there waiting,
For their registers to ring.

So, it's off to the mall,
At some ridiculous jour.
Fasten yout seatbelts,
And turn on the power.

To Macy's, to Penney's, to Sears,
We will run.
To pick up their specials.
This is supposed to be fun?

And when the day's over,
And our money's been spent.
We won't have a spare nickel,
Till sometime in Lent.

and this one:

Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned-- the dark meat and white,
but I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation,
the thought of a snack became infatuation.

So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,
pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie

But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees.......
happy eating to all---pass the cranberries, please!

and just one more:

I ate too much Turkey, I ate too much corn,
I ate too much pudding and pie.
I'm stuffed up with muffins and too much stuffin'
I'm probably going to die.

I piled up my plate and I ate and I ate.
But I wish I had known when to stop,
For I'm so crammed with yams, sauces, gravies, and jams
That my buttons are starting to pop!

I'm full of tomatoes and french fried potatoes
My stomach is swollen and sore,
But there's still some dessert so I guess it won't hurt if
I eat just a little bit more!
********************

I'm off to the shower and going out. My nephew requested a football for Chanukah and I want to go find some new sneakers, so I'm going to Sports Authority.

I'll check in with you all later. Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!!!

Good morning- no shopping for me today. I decided there isn't anything in the world I need to buy at 5 am. I think the stores are going to be running so many sales from now through January, that trying to go out today might not be worth the effort.

Hope everybody had a good SB! Thanskgiving. I stayed OP but ate too much in general. Lots of hummus and olives and red wine and my very good legal pumpking pie! I don't think I managed the 1/2 pie mark, but probably a 1/3:?: The SGWW crust came out yummy too! Rolled it REAL thin, then put and extra layer around the edge so I could flute it without burning it, and it was great! I used mostly agave and a little bit of splenda. It wasn't as sweet as the "regular" one, but the 3 SB'ers at the table loved it.

Even tho I stayed legal, I'm up a lb. this am and feel bloated- I only did a walk this morning, couldn't force a run or jog to save my life. Cleo the wonder poodle was most unhappy with me! She lives for the running. I'll be chugging water all day!

Deb- Loved the poems! Luckily, I didn't do any of that!

Melf- So sorry about both BIL's. What a sad time to lose family, tho there never is a good time. I think it's particularly hard tho around the holidays. My thoughts are with you.

Well, time to chase Andrew away from the TV and go rake leaves (again!!!) and clip frost bitten crysanthamums! So sad, winter's on it's way.:(

Frog: Sorry to hear your feeling under the weather, hope you're back to your self soon! The shoes sounded so cute, you certainly deserved the win! As for Spewer, let her comments roll off of you, she’s jealous and it sounds like she has to be the bell of the ball or she just is plain nasty. I’m sorry your evening got so rocky, I hope that after talking with your friend, your night turned around for the best. As for Harry Potter, I'm just beginning book 3 and enjoy them thoroughly. I actually started reading Harry Potter, because of all the controversy about them. I had given one to my niece and was worried that I might have given her something inappropriate. I find that the controversy is overrated. The books are pure fantasy and a lot of fun reading. I find myself actually having expression and laughter as I read. I saw the movie Tuesday night, I’m glad I read the book as the movie is definitely right on the nose and quite enjoyable. Thanks for the eating tips! I would love to lose my last 10lbs over the holidays, but I would be happy with half that.

Fillise: Just started sf baking. Made OatBran muffins this weekend. Could use something like cinnamon for flavor and I did omit molasses and granulated sugars. Haven't used the Splenda for cooking. Does it have an after taste or any other side effects? I used 2 tblsp honey, but I know that's a big NO NO. Fortunatley the recipe I used should have resulted in 1-2 grams of sugar per serving. So that's ok as long as I don't pig out. I'll try to get it posted to the recipe board.

Crickett: Welcome

Melf: Congratulations on your new low!! My prayers to you and yours. So sorry about your BIL.

TV: Hope your feeling better soon.

Rosalie: One of these days I'm going to have to try your pizza. Although, for now I'll pass as Pizza is what finally did me in and fortunately got be back op this weekend.

Gator: Sounds yummy! Please share the wild rice recipe, I don't ever know what or how to do anything interesting with rice.

meliris: Congratulations on your new all time low! Whether the loss stays around for WIW or not, be proud and fully aware of the weight you have left behind you!

Karen: Hey there stranger!

Deb: Nance has only contacted me once. She had caught a really bad cold. The last 2 emails I sent I have not received a response to, I'm hoping to touch base with her again after the holidays. Glad to know my minimal use of honey is a-ok. Congratulations on your new milestone. This means you’ve achieved your buffer zone and now can just maintain, right?

Still op for the most part, had a bad bout with candy at the movies Tuesday night, I hadn’t eaten dinner and made a BAD decision, boy was I sorry. Then yesterday being TG, I definitely ate more carbs and some not so legal stuff, but Mom did go out of her way to use ww bread for the stuffing, ww rolls, and angel food cake. Although not exactly sb, I sure appreciated the effort. I did it better about the moderation though. Still kept to 159 as of this morning, so that’s one 1lb down but the pants are squeezing this morning and I’m disappointed in myself and finding I’m really not liking me as of late. I keep avoiding the ABSlider, I don’t know why it’s easy and it works. I guess Lazy is the only word for it. So, I got on board and started reading your posts – it’s good for an attitude adjustment, at least in my case, I’m glad to have all of you, you’re just what I needed. I know TOM is affecting things too, but I figure it'll be back every month for quite some time to come, so I can't allow it to be ok to eat and weigh more because of it, nor can I let it be a cop-out to be lazy. I’m going to Abslide and then get the work done I brought home from the office. I really wish I had my SB books back. Maybe I’ll pick them up from the SIL this weekend.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a successful day-after shopping day!

We are quite in our house this morning. Actually, it's been this way every morning. I get up around 8 and the rest of the bunch finally roll out of bed around mid-morning. I did get them up at 8:50 yesterday so we could hit the mall. My baby girl had birthday money to spend. The mall was crowded, but manageable. I think everyone was just walking the hallways but not going in the stores! :dizzy: We went to an electronics store for a palm pilot cover for my DS but when we saw the checkout line, he said forget it. I took the two older ones home and hit two more stores in our little 'burb so Catie could finish up and we left the last store with $1 in her wallet! She'll make her grandma proud!

TD was great. I cooked a 20lb. turkey, thanks to my DH's shopping adventure last week and made the whole wheat stuffing from the recipe board. It was okay. I grew up with cornbread dressing, though and really missed it. Had to make some for the rest of the family, Stovetop variety, and didn't even nibble. We had lots of food and I stayed OP. Didn't even make dessert. I told the gang there was ice cream in the freezer if they had to have something sweet. :smug:

Melf: Where are your recipes? I really want to make that blueberry buckle thing.

Thunder: How about your pecan pie recipe, too? We'll be in Olla for Christmas and I'd love to take something legal to eat while the inlaws are cooking all the candy and sweets they love to eat.

ZZ: This is late, but welcome to the board. I know where Melbourne is! My aunt and uncle lived there for years when he was working for NASA. She's now deceased, and he's in La. where they moved to be closer to family when she started getting sick: Alzheimer's. She was my mom's oldest living sibling at the time.

Mel: Is DD enjoying sleeping in her own bed and messing up her room, like my DS? ;) He has an 8 am flight tomorrow morning and that means leaving the house around 5:30 to get him there. With the security measures in place, we can't wait with him at the gate anymore, so I don't know how we'll say goodbye tomorrow. It's always hard, but at least he'll be home in three weeks. He didn't get to see many friends this time. Most of them are either at UTexas or TexasA&M and the big game was yesterday, so most were in College Station to watch it. He has lost touch, too because they are at public schools and he's at a service academy. They have to same beliefs and convictions, but they just don't understand where he is. Well, mabye they do now, since 9/11.

The scales are finally headed back down. I'm at the low of last week. I cut out the nuts I was eating and am really trying to drink lots of water. I've noticed an increase in cravings in the evening, but nothing satisfies me. So, I just go drink a couple of glasses of water. Sometimes it works. I do know that sugar makes me ill. I made some cookies for the kids, S'mores, with marshmallows, chocolate chips and gramham flour, ate one to see how they tasted. Boy, did I get an upset stomach! It was the first whole homemade cookie that I've eaten and will be the last. Yuck.

Well, I must tear myself away from this computer and start doing something else. I may start the latest Left Behind book, Desecration. My son brought it home, he ordered it with a birthday gift certificate and finished it last week. I usually read them nonstop, so have just started it. I hope it's a good read.

Take care all,
Jeanie

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before I poop out in bed, I'm exhausted, two days up at 4am and today at 5:30am and then to top it off, going to be late. I feel drained! Need a nap!

Not too many garage sales today but did get a few things, nothing exciting though. My sister got a STEP 2 POOL for the girls, never used for $4.00-it's huge-thank goodness I had the van!

I hope you all survived your TG dinners and mall shopping if you've gone. Come Monday, I'm hoping to see many of you who are lurking back on the board (hint, hint).

MEL, LOL, do you think the pilgrims ate hummus too? I always make it to take with me, it's one of our family party staples. At least I don't feel like the lone glutton with over eating, esp. with the pie;)

LDBLOND, hope NANCE gets her butt back on the board soon-tell her I said so, but I'm sure she must lurk from time-to-time for her to see that I ask about her. It's her bday on Tuesday, hope she pops in! Yes, I reached the bottom of my buffer zone, actually, went below it. As long as I stay between 119-124, I'll be happy, but of course, I like the lower numbers better. Did you get to do the ABSLIDE? That's so sweet of your Mom to make such efforts to help you stay OP during TF dinner-shows you how much she loves you!!!!:D

MELF, I think come Monday there will be some poorer people on this board if they are all out shopping! Come Monday, I'm hoping to see all our friendly gals back on in full force!!!

JRED, which stuffing recipe did you make, out of curiosity? Glad to hear you stayed OP, not so hard to do if you want, is it?!? Happy to hear the scale is moving down again as well;)

Okay, I'm off for a nap. Will see what's happening here tonight.

Toodles!

Well we are back from our camping trip....we had sunshine, we had cold, we had rain and if we had not left when we did we would have had tornadoes.:(
We had a great time ...so many ppl there we knew it was very hard to be with everyone....especially since we could not have a campfire. The governor decided that on wed. We were so upset ...we love sitting around a campfire but we have not had rain here for ages until yesterday of course...and then it rained ALL DAY LONG. But we had a great time anyway.
I blew it on my Thanksgiving lunch but not too bad I don't guess. I didn't have any of those yummy looking yeast rolls.
:smug:
I am back on program now and that is what really matters.
I need to do much unpacking ....will see you all later. Glad to hear you all had good holidays.

Cya.

HiHo all!

I really don't know where the time goes! I am not doing anything that should make it fly. I have been taking it easy. Since the bout in hosoital I am off my arthritis meds and can feel it. Today is horrible.

I don't know what I would do if I had to make a whole holiday meal, probably drop dead with a potholder in my hand!!!

Wednesday I made pumpkin pie; was going to make crustless OP one for me. Then decided that I didn't have enough pumpkin for both. Also made cornbread/sausage dressing, and pinwheels; then made a casserole for supper to use up some leftovers. By then I was aching and when I ache I lean! Me and the tower of Pisa!

The next day (TG) I peeled potatoes. Then dil suggested I make a sweet pie concoction for my dessert as we had plenty for the meal. So I boiled a couple of yams, added an egg, milk, Splenda, spices, crustless, and baked it in the toaster oven. It is fab! Dil did rest of meal. Altho she asked me to make gravy as that isn't her thing. I used ww flour so I could have some. It was good too. Ds did the clean up afterwards.

The next morning we were up a 5 to go shopping. I offered the kids a TV that was on sale as a present for the three of them instead of individual presents. They thought that was great. I couldn't make it a surprise as I needed ds to buggy lug it for me.
I also got a Peridot pendant for dd on sale.

So my Christmas shopping is basically done. I will get them each some SMALL thing to open xmas morning.

I was going to wait until closer to Christmas for TV but then decided there are a lot of special shows on between now and then and they really needed a larger TV. It's only a 27" but it is larger than their 19". I also asked them to upgrade to Digital TV and am paying the difference each month. I want to contribute somehow to the household!

Today I am so stiff! I did take my time making bed, vacuuming and dusting. If I don't move doing something I stiffen up worse, if I move too much I stiffen up worse, sort of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

I have missed posting, but have tried to read the Board now and then. So glad to see so many were able to stay OP over TG. I did too; I may have had more turkey than usual, a sweet potato, gravy and acorn squash so I think I did ok. I was too full to eat that sweet potato pie thing, so that was the next day!

I will try to remember some posts.

MELF - Sorry about your bil. How is the other bil handling it?

Thunder - I think it was your husband whose unemployment finally came through. And you have job now. So that's all positive things happening. Will pray that job offer for dh comes through.

Congrats to the losers, maintainers; and for the gainers..this too will pass.

Take care all. sef

Wasn't too hectic.:dizzy: Spent today with MIL and was better. So, here's looking forward to staying SB legal from here on. Maggie's sick, started running fever Thurs. nite and still is, so I guess I'll take her to the dr tomorrow. Glad to here so many of you stayed legal this holiday. IDBLOND, Saw your post to Fillise where you asked about after taste with Splenda. I have used it for baking quiet a bit & find no after taste at all. You should try it. I have also used the substitute brown sugar which I found pretty good.

j red, Blueberry Buckle recipe is Debelli's & it is on the July recipe board. The Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe is on this month's board. Both are really good. Let me know if you can't locate them & I'll email them to you. Hey, I'm reading the Desecration too!! Haven't had much time to read, but making the time for this one. We love the Left Behind series! Have you read all of them too???

Thunder I'd like to see that pecan pie recipe too. Could you post it??

Debbie, Looks like some of you are back from shopping now. Hehehe I really wanted to be out shopping yesterday also, but.. You know, I have NEVER been shopping the day after Thanksgiving? Oh well, maybe next year. Say, did you get that job with the Agave people???

BusDeb Glad you made it home safe before the tornadoes! Sounds like a fun T-day even with the rain. Glad to hear you didn't blow the diet too bad. ;)

SEF, So sorry to hear that you're feeling poorly. Hope Arthur doesn't stay too long before giving you a rest. So you¡¦re off all your arthritis medications??? Bummer!! Hey, the sweet potato pie sounds really good. Do you have a recipe for it or just made it up as you went? So sweet of your ds to do the cleaning for you. Other BIL, Bobby is looking really poorly. We (my 3 dd's & I ) did get to sit & visit with him & his family after the funeral. It was a blessed time for all of us.

music teach/Tina, Girl, I'm sorry to hear that you've fallen off the wagon & been run over! It's the sugar that is making you feel like you've been run over! Hang in there. You can do it. One step at a time. One day at a time. Just determine in your mind that you are in control & don't give it another thought about what you did for Thanksgiving, only what you're going to do today.

Well, another day done. Got to work a 12 hr shift tomorrow, so time to get off of here & finish up a few things. See ya!

Belated Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I have to apologize for not posting much anymore. There hasn't been much free time here lately and I spend too much of that free time on the computer. I haven't even been able to keep up on reading the board so I've probably missed a lot.

The holidays have me in a funk because we no longer have the same traditions I grew up with. Both my mom and my MIL live in assisted living facilities now. Thanksgiving is easier to deal with than Christmas because it usually changed year to year. But because as long as I can remember we had Christmas Eve at my mother's house. That was a given and no one questioned it. Now that she has been unable to do this for the last two years our family Christmas has kind of fallen apart. I have invited my brothers and their families the last two years to my house, but most of my nieces and nephews are married with inlaws of their own and other places to be. Last year it snowed and was not a nice day, so my DB who lives an hour away didn't come to my house. It is not so much for me as it is for my son, who is only 13. He won't grow up with that Christmas Eve family gathering and present exchange. I really love Christmas and this just eats at me. I've got to find some other tradition to start, but we have to figure out what to do with our mothers so they aren't alone. One of the few "good" things about my mother having alzheimers is that she doesn't remember when we were there or whether it is Christmas or not--but I know. My MIL is getting really confused since the death of my FIL last May. She can be really in left field and I think it is from depression--they were married 67 years and took care of his every need all those years. Now she is lost.

I don't know if this is why I'm having such are hard time getting back on the SB wagon or not. I think it started when school got out for summer and my routine changed. Then shortly after that my husband was told they were replacing him at his job and he had to take a different position 75 miles away. Between his poor attitude and the upheaval of our family life, it was not a pretty place to be around here.

But I feel a change coming in my attitude and my committment. Since SB worked so well for me from Jan. to May, there shouldn't be any reason that I can't do it again, right? So, I'm officially crawling back on the wagon tomorrow.

Sorry to be so boring, but maybe it will be therapeutic to put this in writing and "claim it" as Dr. Phil would say.

IDBLOND and MELF - Thanks for thinking of me! I hope you are having a good weekend! MELF - I just finished reading Desecration today. I think it was one of the best of the series, but I was disappointed it dealt with such a short time period. I hope it doesn't take as long for the next book to come out!

It's getting late, so I need to sign off.

Take care and here's to a good Sunday for everyone!

Guess I want to make up for lost time so here I am again!

Did not do much this afternoon. Did my word puzzles, took a nap. I did stitch a little tonight. My hands ache but I had so little to do to finish the piece.

BUS - So glad you had a safe trip. Too bad the weather wasn't more cooperative!

Music - You'll survive being run over by the wagon! Except for our illustrious leader it happens to most of us at one time or another. Just grab hold again and you'll get pulled back aboard. Hope Maggie is better. My gd came home from work TG with the same symptoms, ran and fever and felt awful, but is feeling better now. Hope Maggie does the same.

MELF - Funerals are always hard. Glad you were able to visit with your bil and family. Yep, off meds until the 29th. Guess doc wanted to give my stomach a rest. I hope he will give something on Thursday!

KAREN - Christmas traditions are hard to give up, but circumstances often demand it. Families today are so fragmented that what we grew up with family nearby no longer exists!

We have family in MO, MD, PA, NJ, OH so it's hard to get everyone together. I think you have to concentrate on the present for now, that doesn't mean forget the past.....just don't dwell on it.

Do something special in your house for yourselves. I don't know... go to midnight services, make a special Christmas Eve ritual of opening one present or having a special treat, make a special Christmas breakfast. Traditions don't have to be BIG, they just have to be made special to you.

Long after the kids were too big to believe they would pile onto our bed Christmas morning and open their Christmas stockings, they always did it as babes, then they got the idea and surprised us with stockings. We had so much fun!

Now we are like you, trying to establish new traditions and blend some. Good luck. Use your heart. Gee your dh has a 75 mile commute?!? That is rough!

Think I will go to bed and read awhile.

Take care all. Shirley

It looks like most folks had a good Thanksgiving! We sure had one here. No problem staying OP--I do the cooking in my family so I made everything my way (well, almost everything). The dressing came out really good. I start with a loaf of WW bread (I ordered from the Cajun Grocer--it is SB approved!). I tear it into pieces and dry it in a slow oven. Then I melt a stick of butter and pour it over the bread--ad spices--sage, salt, pepper, parsley--really whatever you want. Then I add the oysters. Once the oysters are in I add the stock I made from the Turkey neck and giblets until it is very moist--then I bake it for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven. This is the second year I made the dressing this way and no one seemed to notice it was any different than the usual bag o stuffing from pepperidge farm.

The apple pie turned out well too. I like the crust mix from the Hodgson mill website the best. I use Splenda in the baking I do--muffins, pies and cheese cakes. It does not have a funny after taste. I'm going to hit the healt food store here tomorrow look for some agave--I've never used it before and want to give it a try.

Yesterday morning my SIL hit the mall at 6:30. We shopped until we met the family for dinner at 6:30 pm--yes 12 straight hours of shopping! It is our ritual every year. I was so tired when I got home! But we had lots of fun--so much so that we were back out at the mall this morning too! (we took the kids today).

I'm exhausted now--but just wanted to check in and say hi.

It's 2:30 in the a.m. and I can't sleep! Went to bed at 11:30, but I'm awake now!

Started a really long post earlier today and lost it. DH was in the basement and caused a power surge which blew a fuse in the room the computer is in! But I knew that I would get to it later, so here I am again.

Thanksgiving went OK at MIL and FIL's house. Given the history (or should I say "hystery"?) of the past year I think it went better than can be expected. Managed to stay about 95% OP, only a tiny bit of sugar and flour in the entire day. :)

Have been VERY busy since Wed. Spent most of that day running (6 miler), grocery shopping, cooking, traveling and eating lunch with my SB friend here who is not on the board. She is the one on with access to the family beach home at Atlantic Beach. She and I spent some time processing what happened at Keeno Monday nite. She urges me to ignore the others as best as I can, but understood that sometimes that group can be overwhelming. She is a friend to me and a diplomatic one at that.

Got home late Thursday evening, watched Survivor in the car on portable TV - Really should get a life!

Friday DH and I ran (only 4 miles) and took on a MAJOR project, we cleaned out the attic. It needed it so badly, but boy was that an affair! About 11:00 that a.m. Dh recognized a plumbing problem which meant no more laundry or dishwashing. He attempted to fix it today but the problem's too much for him. Guess we can have the plumbers come out and rob us of a few hundred dollars on Mon or Tues! NOT  at all.

Today I ran 20 miles, my second longest training run before WDW race. I was really pleased with my time of 4:38, :smug: 13 minutes of which I spent at home between miles 14 & 15 changing socks, eating and pottying. So if I were at a 20-mile race I would likely have finished in 4:25-ish, for 13.25 minute miles. Last race I finished with a mile per minute average of 14.8. My pace is within my finish in 5 hours goal! :spin: Once home and socks off I saw that I have MANY blisters on almost all my toes, a huge one on my right big toe. My feet will be tough enough, I hope, by race day. Couldn't wait to eat either! DH and I went to Longhorn for dinner. (DH ran 15 miles and was hungry too!) Love their grilled chicken (remember I don't eat beef or pork). I was so tired at dinner I thought that I could sleep in the booth, but once home I couldn't sleep. Oh well!

Tomorrow, or should I say today we are going to take all the laundry to the laundry mat to get it done. Then sometime today I will get a much needed massage!! Ahhhh! :^: Have lots of trouble with my right neck and shoulder, moreso than my legs even.

So what's new with y'all?

WELCOME NEWBIES! It's nice to have you here!

I could cry! I typed a response to everyone on the board, EVERYONE! And the blasted thing kicked back my message because it had to many smilies! Luckily I thought to save the section above!

It is now 4:00 a.m. and I just can't sit here another hour retyping! You all just have to know that I said hello and then some, sent warm wishes for lost weight, prayers for those you are having difficult times, and requests for recipes for Apple Brown Betty! I also want to let our 5-K and 1/2 marathoners know that I am pulling for you, and if you are an MIA person like SOL, NANCE and SPARKLE, I am looking for you!

Sorry to have lost the personal posts! Argh!! Double Argh!

Peace,
FROG

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING!

http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg

I did my 4.5 miles in a NEW TIME OF 46:23!!!! That's 1 minute 4 seconds better than my previous best time!!! I can't believe it! What a way to start a day:spin:

Also, TOM came last night, a day or so early, but I haven't seen the rise on the scale that is usually associated with it's arrival, which is fine with me, but a bit odd. I'm sure it will be coming though, just time delayed.

Eli is off today and I haven't a clue what we are going to do, maybe the flea market-don't want to go near the malls until after the holidays and if I have to go for any reason, it will be on a weekday when it's not too busy.

BUSDEB, glad to have you back safe and sound. Sounds like you had a great TG and didn't due too bad with staying OP-I'm sure whatever you ate won't affect you since you got right back on track;)

SEF, time does fly faster as we get older, doesn't it. It amazes me when I sit and think about it. Sorry to hear your arthritis is acting up, why off the meds? Sweet Potato Pie sounded yummy-I'm going to try and make one maybe this week-more like eat one this week if I do make it. Sounds like the kids are very happy with their new TV-that's a nice present you gave them. Try to take it easy and soak in a nice hot tub-hey, ask your family for a really scantily clad, good looking masseur for Xmas-that would be a great present for you!!!;)

MUSIC, sorry to hear Maggie is sick-hope she gets better soon. Okay so you were run over by the wagon, but not fatally injured, so pick yourself up and dust yourself off and hop back on!:) Usually, you aren't as BAD as you really think you were and the damage control can be easily fixed if you do it quickly enough.

MELF, it was my first time going out too and I really just hit KMART as far as busy stores go-the few other ones I went to later in the day were dead, not stores that had sales, like Marshalls and Bed Bath & Beyond. Nothing has been finalized with the agave lady-will let you know when it is-here's hoping!

KAREN, glad to see your post. I agree, you should come up with a new family tradition, I'm sure your family will have some great input. I'm sure it's hard not to be able to have your Mother and MIL to share with the festivities of the season as they use to, but at least they are still there with you, which is important. It's hard to stay on track when you have waivered a bit through the past months, but with determination, you can get back on track. I think a lot of it is emotional, which I can fully relate to. You'll do it, I know you will and I think you do too:)

FILLISE, good for you for staying OP for TG dinner-not so hard! Sounds like you definitely shopped til you dropped-hope you found some great bargins out there!

FROG, my goodness-20 miles-I'd of died! What do you do when you get blisters like that-pad them? Do you take water with you when you run? Have fun doing the laundry today:lol: Glad to hear dinner with the In-Laws went fairly well.

Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW BOARD and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any quotes, stories or words of wisdom, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Gotta run, get in the shower before it gets too late.

Toodles

Hey y'all. Finally got to sleep again about 5:30 and woke up for the day at 9:30.

I will now try again to post to all of you before we head out to the laundry mat!

Thankfully I made paper and pencil notes and saved them! :D

DEB - You have lightening feet! DH was quite impressed with your walk time this morning! Your speed is motivating for me. So is the thought that all you guys will be there in Jan to cheer me on! When I get blisters on my feet I let nature take its course, however I do drain them to expedite the process. I want those areas to get tough enough to take the trauma. You should see the tips of all of my toes. All of 'em have little calluses and blisters on the toes! The woes of being flat footed! Regarding water... I do wear a water belt and I refill it many times along my route. My run is carefully planned to allow for places to get H2O. I have got try the BB buckle! DH loves blueberries. Congrats on your new lows! You never cease to amaze us! Perhaps you won't see an increase with this TOM. Gotta have the recipe for those oatmeal bars!

Gator - Way to go on the loss. Glad you are planning on being at WDW with us in Jan. As I told Deb, it is quite motivating! Loved your veg ideas for Liz.

MEL - Hooray for your loss! Glad the mystery wt is gone! Like your resolve not to gain this holiday season.

KAREN - I like the Brennan cookbook I have, especially as I was getting started on SB. Their soups are really good.

BOB - How was Naples? Are you feeling better these days? I need to make a trip to Fresh Market for some Lindt Chocolates.

MELF - I was sorry to learn of your BIL's passing. I'm glad that he will not suffer any longer. On a different note, I think getting rid of my Rx has halped me tremendously No more awful bloat!

LAMAP - How nice to see your post. I think that you deserve big 'ol diamond studs if you lose 85 girl! :D Your 5-K is a terrific accomplishment! Listen now, a "longer run is NOT always a better run." I think that in order to run the distance I sacrifice the max aerobic activity which = fat burning. I also lose a large part of every Saturday, and Lord knows there are other things I'd rather be doing. Like any exercise, it is just a challenge! I don't know that I will want to do another marathon after this one. Maybe 1/2s and 10-Ks.

BUSDEB - Camping trip sounded like a wee bit of a challenge. Sorry that the weather was uncooperative. Also glad that the weather has passed over your area. My family is in Columbus, GA.

FILLISE - Glad that your TG was a success. Thanks for the review of HP movie. Are you planning on being in town around the holidays? Perhaps we could get together? A trip to Cock of the Walk would be nice and DH could eat there too. He didn't get to go last time, didn't make the trip to Georgia. We are going to be in town the Dec 21-26.

ZANNE - Good luck with the house hunt. That is challenging and rewarding work. DH sounds like a hard worker.

TV - Hope you are continuing to feel better! Congrats on a reaching a new low weight!

MUSIC - Get back on the wagon NOW! Don't look back, we can't live in the past, live for now, plan for the future. Hang in there!

ZSU - Good luck with the 1/2 Marathon today! Hope your weather is cooperative. PLEASE let us know how it goes! I think that have finishing as a goal is a GREAT goal! That is all I can ever hope to do too! You are also a FAST walker! You and Deb should do the Avon 3-day event.

BLOND - Thanks for your encouraging words. Looks like I may have to ask for those HP books for Christmas.

JRED - Glad the scales are down. Our start and goal weights are very similar. I too miss the cornbread dressing! I don't think that it would taste good to me now though. Had afew peices of corn in some soup and it was AWFUL!

SEF - Hope you will be able to take some Rx for "Arther" soon. A tv for the DGKs is a wonderful idea! How kind of you to give it before Christmas for them to enjoy. I was crocheting the other night and thought about you. :)

LIZ - Glad that the scales are movnig for you. I thought Gator's ideas for veggies was a great one.

THINDER - Happy that DH's $ came in and that you are looking forward to beginning a new job. Things are looking up now!

TREE - Compliments and recognition for your efforts are motivating aren't they? I would love to be your weight now! I would be about that if I hadn't taken the Rx, as I was 146 in July! Hope to be back at 146 or lower by Christmas. Wish me luck!

ROSALIE - Would love that recipe for ABB. Is it on the recipe board?

VIV - You are in my thoughts and prayers. We are here for you.

SOL, NANCE, SPARKLE - Is it time for another APB? Hope you're all doing well!

Well, I hope that this will make it on the boad. Hope you all have a happy Sunday. Time to go do the laundry. Oh boy!

Peace,
FROG

Hi! looks like everybody's back in 1 piece from Thanksgiving, the mall, the in-laws, etc. I did my Sunday morning 5 mile trot so feel virtuous, but the scale is up, so I'm chugging water as fast as I can. Everything was legal this weekend, just a little too much of it:devil:

Have to take DD to the airport this afternoon, expect that will be a zoo. She's had a great time trashing her room, catching up w/ high school friends and boyfriend, and leaving piles of clothes and shoes all over the house. I don't know if I could deal with this full time again, but I'll sure miss her tomorrow!

Deb- How in the world do you walk so fast??? My running times are not a whole lot better than that. Tho my excuse is the dog who stops for a potty break in every cul-d-sac and ocsaisionally I have to stoop and scoop( yuck!).

Frog- Your feet sound lovely! Do your big toe nails turn black too? Mine used to when I ran more than 10 miles or played tennis more than 4 times a week. DD who ran track for 6 years and has to run for lacrosse practice says its pretty standard for most athletes. Doing shorter distances, that hasn't happened lately. Sorry to hear bout the plumbing problems, have LOADS of fun at the laundromat!

Busdeb- Souns like an interesting Thanskgiving! Where did the camping tradition come from?

Fillise- Glad you are back and had such a successful TG and shopping trips. What stamina! 2 hours at the mall is about my tolerance level, then I get snarly.

Sef- Take it easier for afew days. I hope your aches feel better soon. I surely know about that! I've actually had to cut my meds as my weight has gone down, my stomach was feeling shredded from anti-inflammatories and I was feeling groggy all day. Cutting the dosages has helped a lot- guess all that disappearing fat was sopping up the meds.

Gotta go- take care all,

mel

Hello, Ladies!
It's 11:45 and I've made my run to the airport to send my DS back to school. We left at 5:30 and got back about 7:15, no traffic, so a quick turnaround. Hated just dropping him off at the curb, but no sense going inside because of security measures. He should have landed in Baltimore and found his sponsors car by now. At least he has a place to crash before going back to "the Yard." Their formation is at 8:00 tonight and he doesn't need to be back until just before then. I'll sure miss him, but he'll be home in three weeks.

Mel: His room is trashed, too! ;)

The scales are down one more pound today. I'm going to keep plugging away so that by Christmas I'll be able to say I've lost as much as is bodily possible :D (new phrase?). We have a big military ball on Dec. 22 and I saw a gorgeous red dress at the mall. If I lose 8 more pounds by that week, I'm going to treat myself to that dress. That's my goal.

Melf: Thanks so much for the recipe. I'm going to the grocery store that carries Hodgson (?) Mills products and see if they have that pastry flour.

Deb: I made the WW stuffing in the Nov 2000 recipes. I know how to tweak it next time to make it even better. I need some SB legal candy recipes for the holidays. Point me the way!

Frog: I admire your stamina. I love to walk, but running just isn't my thing. My DD's best friend who moved up your way 10 years ago is visiting us today. They've been BFs since they were 4 years old. It amazes me how they've kept in touch.

I hope everyone has a great day and a productive week. I'm back to grind of school. It's always hard to keep a lid on the place this time of year. The kids get soooo excited. And we are going an extra week this year. Our holiday doesn't begin until the 21st. Yuck. We always used the week before to do our Christmas shopping. Now I'll have to work it into my already busy schedule.

Take care,
Jeanie

Great holiday weekend for BOB...didn't accomplish a damn thing, but all my days were nice.
Naples visit was a good one..Their condo is being refurbished, so they rented a house and man was it nice...realitor said it was probably worth around $750 thou....so BOB hobnobed on Turkey Day... We had lunch by the pool and the weather was wonderful..nice breeze so it wasn't too hot...Good visit with my brother and his wife...One of her Daughters, SIL and kids were with them, so we had a full table..
No FRESH MARKET though...you would have thought SOMEONE could have met me there to shop!!

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good holiday...now the fun begins...most of my shopping is completed and has now arrived back in KY with my brother..I just have to finish for down here and my cousin's family in S.C.

Found some DROSTE chocolate today....AT BIG LOT'S!!
$.99 per package...and it's not stale either...

I'm off to prepare for Monday morning...I'll check in tomorrow...

Hi everyone :)

Looks like everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I hope you'll didn't spend all your pennies at the sales on Friday :D.

I've had a leisurely day. Spent the morning catching up on some reading and this afternoon went for a swim. I am pleased to say I was able to wear a smaller swimsuit to-day. The last time I went shopping for a swimsuit I bought two as I have such a hard time finding anything suitable. I bought two different sizes and have been wearing the larger size. To-day I tried on the smaller one and voila! it fit. A few weeks ago it was still a bit tight. I really don't understand what's happening though as I haven't lost any pounds lately and haven't been doing much exercise either. Anyway I'm not complaining.

Karen - I can empathise with you being away from the extended family during holiday times. We were in the same position when my kids were growing up as neither my dh or myself had any relatives close by. It was often very hard at holiday times but we just had to make our own traditions, as I am sure you will. Luckily we had a couple of friends who would often celebrate with us. They are separated now and their kids are grown but my gf still joins us at Xmas and TG. I wish you luck on getting back on the wagon. You've done it before and I'm sure you will be able to succeed at SB again.

Frog - Hope you get rid of those blisters soon. The Apple Brown Betty recipe was posted by Deb on the SEPTEMBER, 2000 Recipe Board. I've made this frequently and it is good. It uses frozen concentrated apple juice as the sweetener which I am not able to find in the stores any more so I have been using a recipe for Apple Crisp which I adapted from a regular cookbook. The one I made a couple of days ago didn't turn out so good - I used too much flour/oatmeal. I have one in the oven now. This time I checked the recipe. If it turns out good I will post it.

Melf - Don't work too hard tomorrow. Glad you liked the Shepherd's Pie. You gave me an idea for my supper yesterday and as a change from the regular cauliflower/cheese topping I combined cauliflower and broccoli with some cheese and it turned out good.

Sef - Sorry to hear that Arthur is acting up again. Is the doctor going to put you back on some meds again.? Sounds like you need something to keep the pain and stiffness under control.

Have to scoot now. Plan on going to see the Harry Potter movie this evening.

Marie.

PS. Frog - The Apple Crisp turned out good to-day - I've just scoffed down two servings. I have posted the recipe.

hi everyone,

did the 1/2 marathon today. I wanted to do 3hr30min but realized 3hr 45min is what i would probably end up with. Well as it turns out I did it in 3hr 22min . Best of all i felt good finishing. I even passed 3 other women who were jogging and walking combo who all 3 actually passed me early on so i was not the last 1/2 marathon person finishing. I think the trick was my trainer who had me eating protein bars so when we were on 9 miles and those others were dragging i had energy i pretty much maintained 15 min mile with the last one being 17 min. now though iam paying the price of the protein bars with the sugar in them my stomach is not happy. I went to my neices birthday party she is 2 . my mom said i could eat cake because i walked today and i said no. my mom sister and husband all were surprised . I actually was surprised i guess the sb really has become a way of life everything is coming together today. the weather was really nice today for the walk. well got to soak my aching body in the hot tub.

Getting ready to wind down the evening and prepare for the work week. I have a ton of clean laundry after the trip to the laundromat.

Just finished having burgers with the neighbors. Had me a yummy turkey burger and baked beans! Got one in there for lunch tomorrow too! :D

Massage was great. The young woman who does them is terrific at it. My shoulder feels so much better.

Gotta do these ol rag tag lookin' fingernails here after I post. They are some kinda gnarly!

MEL - I had a problem with black a toenail earlier this fall, but I went up a 1/2 size on my shoes and went a wider width and haven't had any trouble since. Though I still predict that I will lose the toenail that was black. :( The blister on my big toe is the biggest I have ever had. It is about as wide as green bean and as long as the toenail is. It runs on the outside part of the toe, sitting right there where it can rub the side of the shoe. I blame the socks and I think that if I hadn't slipped on a fresh pair that I wouldnt have one as pad as this one. But, that is what training runs are for!

ROSALIE - Thanks for the tip on the ABB. Will be on the look out for it. Congrats on the smaller suit. :)

JRED - Congrats on continuing to be down on the scales. Hope you get the dress you mentioned. Is your DH in the service? Somehow I think I missed that. THanks for your kind words regarding running. I don't exactly love it, but I do find it a very effective, transportable exercise and with a goal, such as a race, to keep my motivation up. Whatever it takes right?

ZSU - Great time on the 1/2 marathon today! Sounds like you had a good time and that you're proud of your accomplishment! Way to go!

Well, ta-ta for now. Nite all!

Peace,
FROG

How is everyone

This has been a very nice holiday weekend- busy but nice, and now we can start the real push to Christmas. Just think- and this is my warped thinking- in five weeks it will all be over and things can get back to the normal crazy.

This has been good weight wise for me, the scale continues to inch downward, but I am waiting till Wednesday to get the "official" weight.

Now, I must tell you what an inspiration you all are. If you read my post on Thursday, you might remember that I walked a 5K fun walk- which was a goal in my life- to be able to say that I did a 5k. Then Iam reading about you that are planning the marathon, and Deb with her daily walks/runs, and the others too. Well, now I have this burning desire to really do the 5K next year. Before I went for my three mile walk tonight- I really talked myself into this, and dressed accordingly. Thank God that it was dark out when I went walking. I have this old old support panty type thing that I used to wear on top of nylons so that my legs wouldn't get chaffed. Well I figured that it has sat in the drawer long enough - 10 years- and maybe it would hold things in place should I have a burning desire to run a little during my walk. So i put it on (under shorts) and off I went. And twice during my walk I did a little jog. I kept thinking I should be playing the song that talks about "feel the earth move under my feet". BUT....I did it, and it wasn't bad. And things stayed just where they should be on my body during my bursts of energy. I know I have a long long long way to go to get anywhere near you others, but I still have a lot of weight left to lose to, so a small start is still a start. Tomorrow it is on to step aerobics again.

Now my next challenge to myself is to get better at being up on things here on this board, so watch out, I gonna start taking notes. and Hopefully you will hear more from me. It may be short if i have a busy day going on, but who doesn't.

So I am wishing you all a wonderful Monday.
