Talking 30 something chat Thurs April 26

Good Morning Ladies!! I know i missed posting yesterday but i had 2 (yep 2) wakes to go to and the second one was completely unplanned. The first was a friend of the mother in laws (well she might as well be i've been with him for 5 years) and then when i went to dinner at my actual mom's i was reading the paper and the exhusbands grandmother died so i stopped to give my condolences to his sister (who i actually still like... him on the other hand...there are no words to describe the disgust) I'm actually pretty glad i stopped though. His father died in november and i never got to tell his family how sorry i was. So now i feel better. Hopefully he'll still stay away (thank god he wasn't there but h**l he won't get up to use the bathroom much less go somewhere like that) ON TOP of ALL this.... I lost 7 pounds ladies!! Lord knows i don't know how but i did. I'm amazed. Mostly water weight I'm sure but it feels great. I ate much better today too and got some work done to the house (not much but some). So I'm a dancing freak. The DP is being a pain but I can look over that. He just has too much time to think in jail. So that leads to me getting the brunt of the negativity. His problem is his lawyer not doing anything even not coming to see him. I've tried to get him to go up there for 3 weeks and not once has he gone. RIDICULOUS! Well I know this is the first post of the day... I'm a horrible night owl. So I wanted to tell you all to have a wonderful day and work hard to keep on track. We can do it!! HEY I MET MY MINI GOAL!!

I will fly...my wings may be broken...but they will mend...and I will fly!

Okay! I've got a little longer than normal, so let's see if I can get in a decent message today.

Work continues to plod along, same 'stuff' - different day. Yesterday was royally stupid because we got issued an edict from a high with a time-wasting request. (We basically have to tell our timekeeper that we worked normal hours every week instead of only contacting them when we have exceptions - vacation, sick time, time to bill to a project, whatever.) Needless to say that the WHOLE office was cranky about that. Other than that, work continues to be 'dumb'. At least I got a couple of new techie toys this week which makes a geek like me moderately pleased.

Been spending a few spare mental cycles trying to decide what outdoor projects to do. Unfortunately, with the sunny weather starting to come out, that's what happens and the indoor projects, like the neglected basement renos, get forgotten until the fall again. Oh well, I guess with such a short warm season as we get up here in the Great White North, we gotta make the best of the time we get to be outdoors. Too bad this weekend's weather looks crappy. I'd hoped to get out and do some Geocaching (anyone else out there know what that is?) and rekindle my interest in that, but if Mommy Nature doesn't want to co-operate, well poopy on her.

Dance class was last night and for the second class in a row, I left INCREDIBLY frustrated. First, the instructor decided that we would work on speed. First couple of songs weren't bad and I was actually enjoying myself - but then it just got too fast and I couldn't get my feet moving fast enough. (Apparently the key is to shorten your steps the faster the tempo - which makes sense because you don't have time to do big, dramatic steps at that speed. This is something I need to learn to do.) It was obvious that the two of us were having trouble keeping up and I was starting to get visibly frustrated - so what does the instructor do? Go FASTER. I nearly lost my temper and walked out, but I held it together and we moved on after that fiasco. And what did we move on to? That wonderful step that I couldn't get from last week. And guess what? I still can't really figure it out though I think I almost understand it. My biggest problem now is that my DW doesn't control her arms and it's like I'm holding on to limp noodles or some kind of rope (maybe to hang myself on ) which just lead to more frustration. At the end, we walked back to the cars with DW almost in tears and me wanting to punch a wall. And this is supposed to be "fun"? I don't know how much more of this I can take.... At least we have a 2 week break now.

Anyway....

Nonrg: Congratulations on meeting your mini-goal and sorry to hear about all the deaths. Rough when it all happens at once. (But look at the bright side: at least you didn't have to get all dressed up twice, right? )

Melinda: "I love you, babe...but you're married and married guys always have a different perspective....so don't dare tell me I'm wrong!!!" Mel, hon, I _always_ have had a different perspective. Even before I was married. :P I've always had many more female friends (I guess I can identify with them better than the hulking, grunting stereotypical man) so I _may_ respond differently than you might expect.

Of course a wink here and a shake there and I'll probably degenerate into a cat-calling pig. I mean, I don't lack THAT much testosterone.

I've never been able to figure out exactly what "women are looking for" because it's been MY experience it's another case where they say they want one thing and then end up going after another. Maybe men and woman aren't so different? *shrugs* We're a strange, strange animal....

Hanna: I'm with GG - I didn't know that there were (m)any Jews in Mexico. I suppose it shouldn't surprise me at all. Interesting, count it as a lesson learned. And I agree completely with everyone who says take your family vacation. Perhaps someday they'll realize that they're the ones missing out. And bravo for you on adopting a child, and congratulations on being brave enough to adopt one from a different culture. You have an opportunity to learn about a different people by helping him explore his ethnic background and provide him the same by teaching him about your Mexican background. This is the solid foundation for teaching tolerance. Way to go.

Michelle: Congratulations Grandma! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Kerri: I have a love-hate relationship with my hobby, like everything else I do. If things go perfectly, I love it. As soon as something doesn't go right or something doesn't turn out perfectly, I hate it.

As for taking the DW out dancing, there's two problems: First, I'm ready to jump off a building when I think about those stupid dance classes. (See above) Second, even if I _did_ want to go out dancing, it turns out that there's no place with a 'latin night' anyway! (Makes me wonder why we're learing this stuff! :S Oh well...)

GG: "what a little sex talk scared you off LMAO.." Uh, yeah....sure. :P I can probably keep up with the best of you, but think of the children. Hee Hee hee. Besides, I barely know all of you.

"hmmm wonders if dh will celebrate humpday early tonight" So, is this what happens when you horseback ride all the time? Hmmm...maybe I need to sign DW up for some riding lessons. Okay. Now we're getting out of control.

Take care.
& all around - to those who post and especially to all who lurk.

Good Morning Everyone

Rooster just how long is your summer?

My day was extremely busy yesterday. It will be again. Yeah! I take Cassie to the specialist on Friday in Billings Montana. Hopefully we will get some good news and possiably a diagnoisis. I hope so.

I did well on my eating yesterday,

Haven't had much time with DH but it seems to be going that way lately. I am starting to get sick of it.

Everyone enjoy your day and stay focused!

So I get home from work last night and see this note stuck to my front door...and as I approached I see it's from FEDEX! I thought, my gurl GG really DID pull through for me....MY MAN HAS ARRIVED. Hot tamales and a pancake! So I bust booty over way across town to collect my dreamy hunk of burnin' love and thinkin'...don't come a knockin' if the house is a rockin' .....only to find out, it was....... another friggin' credit card.

Anyway, got some good sleep last night so I hope I'm going to get back on track with this friggin' disease! My former boss came over last night and he cut off some limbs from a couple of trees that were over my house and deck. This will definitely help get some more sun out there in the backyard! He did it for free and even chopped up everything and loaded it up in his car to burn at home (his poor wife...he said he's got FOUR burn piles as tall as my house)-we have to (in my city) tie up bundles of branches with string and can only place them out front for collection like once a month.

Roo: Yeah, yeah, yeah!!! I'll concede that there may be one or two men out there that experience what I experience in the dating world.... Thanks for putting a smile on my face. I'm sorry dance was frustrating...but you're still out there doing something new and can continue to move down that list of yours-things to do before you turn 20 or something like that! Just be happy the instructor didn't break from the norm and have ya'all jammin' out some hip hop! What new gadgets did you get?

Sheila: Speaking of gadgets..... Yes, I am turning the conversation back THERE! I am not really into the "alone time motor vehicles to pleasure town thang." That's not to say that I'm not very successful playing solitaire. BUT...it's not the same! Ya know? Oh, and we totally do have girls night out...but it's normally me sitting there listening to my friends talking about this guy that likes them and that guy that called them...yada yada. I wind up feeling more depressed than if I just sat home and sang my woes to hamster Vittori.

Non: YEEHAW on the mini-goal accomplishment! What a great feeling! BTW-glad to see you have love for the dancing carrot!

I have to print off the posts from yesterday before I can catch up and respond to more individually. Be back later...should be a pretty slow day for me here....countin' down the hours until the free taco bar! Melinda

Morning ladies! I have not been able to get on to the forums for days! I finally realized it was my AOL software (it gets cranky sometimes) and tryed opening in Opera brower, perfect!

Life has been hectic around here, this puppy really has changed our household. He's finally sleeping through the night, but requires light to do so. My next project is to get him to sleep without the light, I don't mind the TV so much. Our yard isn't all that big, but I'm putting in so many laps walking him, I think that contributed to another 2 lb loss

I joined weight watchers! My good friend, the wife of one of my husbands squad mates is a life time member of WW, and I spend alot of time with her and her girls, and my little guy, and there is always food involved, so it makes sense. I really enjoyed my first meeting, although I was kind of annoyed to see the mean lady at the post office in attendance. I think WW will be good for me. My husband and son did ok without me, although they "forgot" to eat, lol at least I know I'm needed around here.

My son is begging to go outside, son, not puppy, lol but they both need some fresh air, so out we go!!!

woman are you saying i have a complex???? Ya well I know! Girl you need to come to wyoming men are not that way out here. Not to say there are not a few pigs out there. I like motor vehicles every now and then it helps me get through the rough patches instead of trading the vehicle off or going for a test drive. I guess Love has alot to do with it. I just can't trade in my old model, not that he is a classic model yet but here in a few years he will be. LOL . You need to strut your stuff mingle you don't need friends for that baby!

Hey all! Its been a few days since I checked in and while I have been diligent in going to the gym- went Wed and Thurs - i havent been so diligent in watching what I put in my mouth Come 4:00 and I am starving - and tend to over eat snacks and then eat dinner. I need to pack something extra with my lunch for those 4:00 hunger pangs.

I havent read yesterday's thread and I am sooo tired now and about to go off to sleep - catch up with you all over the weekend....

Hi everyone! Wow ~ things are moving right along in the sale of the house. Talk about a *huge* relief! We only have one more inspection to do. Yippee! We won't be moving until June 22nd. Seems like such a long time away and yet I know that the time will be here before I know it. School gets out for the kids May 31 and then we go on vacation the second week of June. I'm already starting to pack as I'm just too excited!

Nonrg ~ congrats!! What a great way to start! 7lbs!!! Keep up the good work.
Rooster ~ too bad that the dance lessons aren't going well. It's a pity as these things are intended to lessen stress, not add to it:-(. Are you back to getting out at lunchtime for your walk? You better be or I'll send Melinda to come kick your butt (she could do it too, I know she could!).
Sheila ~ I hope that Cassie's appointment is successful. She is chronically ill, right? Man, that would suck. Poor little girl.
Melinda ~ You're back to your usual perky self this morning. Are you on "Dew" again? You're the best!!!
Fabric ~ good luck with WW. Also, great to hear of another 2 lb. loss! I've done WW in the past and have always had success with the program. My problem is maintenace....
mumtoliam ~ my suggestion would be eating some yogurt, fruit, raw veggies, hard boiled eggs, or even nuts an hour or two before dinner. I have the same problem as I do fine all day long and then by the time dinner comes along, I'm famished. When I take the time to "plan" and think about it, I eat an apple or raisins when my kids are having their afternoon snack. I'm really concentrating hard this week to STOP and THINK before putting food in my mouth. Lots of time, it is habit and not hunger driving me to pick up a handful of something.
Milagro ~ You're back at the gym!!!! Yippeee!!! I'm so glad that you're feeling better.

GG, Lauren, Lisa, Michelle and everyone else that I've missed ~ HI!!!!

Joan: Aw, shucks! I love you too babe!!! Only one more inspection? YEEEEHAWWW! Which one is left? The pest inspection? Radon? Sorry, this stuff is interesting to me! HEY ROO! C'mere....Joan says I need to give ya a little smack down! LOL

GG: Where are you??? Good job rockin' the house on the workin' out bug. Glad it bit ya!

Hanna: What the heck is up with your mom and sister? That's just unacceptable. Though, I have to say that my mom is the same way. I dated a guy once that happened to have a "darker complexion." When I brought him home to meet my family @ XMas time...well...mom & dad refused to speak to me for over a year. How pathetic is that? People are people, get over it. What the heck does skin tone have to do with someone being better than anyone else-or religion for that matter? That just bugs the crap out of me! I have friends that are all versions of Christian, but I have a friend who is a Wiccan and another who is a Buddhist. Respect man, that's what it's about. I'm really sorry you have to deal with that, Hanna. Really, there aren't many solutions when people are that close minded. Just be proud that somehow, despite all of that-you have grown into a wonderfully supportive and caring person that we all here love dearly!

Kerri: Bummer on the car-but what a positive attitude! I would have been cursing like a sailor. LOL

Fabric: Hey there! 'Bout time you showed back up! You are suuuuch a good puppy mama! Good deal on the WW! LOL on the post office lady! Maybe she's just mean because she's not having the weight loss success she wants to achieve....so maybe if you look at it that way you'll feel more for her and not want to backhand her! Not that you would actually do that or anything! I've been thinking of joining WW too once my meds are regulated (since right now I'd be going in the wrong direction upon each weigh in). I know lots of people who swear by WW!!! Keep us updated on what you like about the program and how it's goin' for you!

Karen K.: I forgot to tell you the other day that picturing Alex picking dandy-lions just tickled me pink! What a sweetiepie!

Lisa/Lauren/Molly/Tina/Clover/Vanessa/Michelle/Laura/
Kirsten/Stephanie/Michelle B. & Everyone Else I missed-HI THERE! What's Up w/you ladies???

Ok little muffins, off to finally read through yesterday's posts and catch up. Only 1/2 hour 'till T-Time (taco time). I am starvin' marvin. OK-UPDATE. I'm back from eating and I had mainly just spoonfuls of the grilled chicken and steak and only a handful of chips..no sour cream...but I did have guac...sorry, I LOVE avocados! And they love me too..... lalaalalalaa I do realize that at times you may think I should be committed...but hey, I do try to add a little spice to your lives. LOL

Oh, good news-my weight went up AGAIN. Yeah, fabulous! I think I'll just start being thrilled that my a ## is so huge and use reverse psychology on it. Hi, name is Melinda and I have a big butt! "HI MELINDA, WELCOME." Mahvelous! The only thing is, it's starting to look more like the dimply skin of an uggli fruit and not cottage cheese....hmmm.....let's ponder that for awhile shall we?

Melinda

MJ, you crack me up girl. Is K'mazoo close to Ann Arbor? There is a resurant that I love there - in Ann Arbor. (BD Mongolian BBQ) Oh and I am with you on the quality of men. Toledo is not that great! Since moving back, I havent made very many friends either. (too busy with school) Maybe Montana's the place for me?

Roo, do you watch Dancing w/ the Stars? At least you're not learning 2 new dances every week! You are just working on 1. Maybe you and DW can "practice" during the week. Yea on the new gadgets! New toys make me happy too.

Lauren, hows mom?

GG, haven't seen your behind in here, are ya lurking?

to everyone else.

Lisa: Ann Arbor is about 2 hours east of here. BUT, there is a Mongolian BBQ right here in Kalamazoo! It's in a strip mall w/an IHOP. Both places I've never been to, but that I would LOVE to eat at! Melinda

Yes, there is a large Jewish community in Mexico City, it is very close and tight community.

Joan how exciting! you already have a move in date!!! that is awesome!!!

Z haven't seen you for a while! having a puppy can be very tiring as you are finding out, but the sure are fun! what did you name him?

Rooster sorry things are not changing at work for the better, that stinks! and too bad the dance thing didn't work out either!

Nonrg congratulations on the loss!!! yeah!!

Hi Everyone

I feel like it's been ages since I was here. It's exam time plus interviews for potential summer jobs so I've had my nose in the books for the last while. Another week and everything will be done and I'll be able to take more time for me. And more time here catching up with everyone.

Hope you are all doing well.
