Default Read This, Beachers!!!!!!! "Don't post here much but"

I'm on the Beach. And have been since May 1, 2006. As of today I've lost 48.8 pounds. I still have 101.2 to go.

Just wanted to share that this plan works. IF YOU WORK IT.

Changes I've made in the past year.

I drink 3 quarts of water a day now. before I drank no water

I go to the gym about 6 days a week. I try to do an hour of cardio a day and just added a Body Pump Class 3 days a week. I hate the gym. I hate moving. BUT the KEY IS THAT I GO.

I eat foods that are permitted on South Beach in amounts necessary to keep me from being hungry. Previously I ate what I wanted when I wanted.

My blood sugar is now normal
My cholesterol went from 213 to 166 with my Triglycerides going from 284 to 77
my blood pressure is normal or close to it.

I have no depth perception
I have a plate and six screws holding one leg together.
I have a busy life with a full time job a husband a stepdaughter a disabled adult child and another child in college
I have ADHD and have in the past suffered from depression.

trust me ladies (and gents) IF I can do this so can you!

Well that was my hope. I know so many folks get discouraged and impatient and want to give up.

What i've learned in the last year is YOU CAN'T GIVE UP!

Your post is so inspiring. I know i have to remind myself to take it one day at a time. I'm in my 3rd day of phase 1, and everything is going great. I truly admire your success over the past year.

Congradulations on the lost and keep it up!

Thanks. Congrats to you for making the change. It's SO HARD to do this especially without support. I was lucky.. my husband was agreeable to eating this way (and he discovered we eat great now), my work environment is very conducive to weight loss.... that helps a lot..

: Soooo happy for you, Nessa!!!

Your wonderful post (THANK YOU!!!) is more proof of what Suzanne and Jennifer keep telling us...any plan can work for anyone as long as you WORK it, and the basic principle that gets us there is, "Eat Less, Move More!" (as much as we may hate hitting that gym... I feel your pain, girl!)

Your post also prooves something I truly, truly believe in. Sandi, one of our moderators, had it in her sig, so I usually just call it 'Sandi's Quote!'

You are "finding a way" in so many creative ways...YGG!!!

Hi Nessa,

The improvements in your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar numbers is incredible! Thank you for reminding me of the main reason I began this journey. You are truly inspiring and I hope to hear much more from you in the future.

Well if you get Health Magazine, they are writing an article about binge eating that i'm profiled in... including a picture... I've beaten binge eating...

before doing SBD we ate fast food 4-7 times A WEEK... and when I did 'cook' dinner it was usually heat up sailsbury steaks and make mac and cheese... oh we had a veggie too... cause it was the right thing to do.

SBD has become second nature to us now... yes we have to plan more and I have to shop more and out of food is NOT an option any more... and yes I am away from home more now that I'm in the gym every day.... but we are making it work.

updated my ticker--- and my goal. I met with a trainer last night... oy I hate to exercise but it's really critical. He told me 136 is WAY TOO LOW a goal for me.... I told him I weighed that in High School... he said based on what he can see I should aim for about 180.... so I'm aiming for 176 and i'm nearly there!

Great example of the fact that we often aim too low with our goals. Good going, Nessa!

I actually read something recently that said that for most adult women, it makes more sense to aim for what you weighed at 20, IF you weren't overweight then (I was!). That way you figure in more of the changes that go on with your body as an adult. It differs for everyone, though, I bet.

I hear you on exercise...I hate it too, somedays, but it's so helpful for the weight loss and for our energy levels and attitude. (gotta keep telling myself that....)
