100 lb. Club - Memorial Day Goals

View Full Version : Memorial Day Goals

04-09-2007, 05:00 PM

I just started back on plan today (yikes!) Does anyone else want to set up a goal for Memorial Day? When I was here before, people would set short term holiday goals.

I'm setting a ten lb weight loss goal. It's about seven weeks away, so that is realistic.

04-09-2007, 05:15 PM
I am with you. I am new with this whole thing, but I was wanting to do a short term goal. I will say 10 lbs. also. Thanks for letting me join.

04-09-2007, 06:12 PM
On another site I am also in a Memorial Day challenge. I set a goal of 12 lbs.

Good luck ladies!

04-09-2007, 06:30 PM
I want to set a goal of 15-20 lbs. Today I am back on salads and I might try to get some type of workout in!

Short Term Goal:

04-09-2007, 06:32 PM
Good idea. I'll set one at 12, too. I'll be like Tiffany!!

04-09-2007, 06:45 PM
Welcome, Rachel!

Thanks to everyone or joining. I'd love to lose 15 lbs by then, but I need to be realistic.

04-09-2007, 06:46 PM
Great goals! I have set goals for myself by first day of spring, first day of summer, first day of autumn, and then first day of winter. That seems to help me since the holidays themselves aren't always spaced apart enough to give me a chance in-between!

04-09-2007, 06:49 PM
I would like to lose 17 pounds by then! Good luck everyone!

04-09-2007, 06:54 PM
Count me in! I've stayed on track today, which for me means a lot! I sit at a desk all day in front of a computer! And I didn't snack all day long like I used to, just my one banana at a planned time! :carrot:

So I'll set my Memorial Day goal at 12 pounds!

04-09-2007, 06:57 PM
A couple of weeks ago I set a Memorial Day goal of 15 lbs. The goal was really to get me below 220...back into the 2-teens (as Mrs.Q so delightfully calls them). I'll renew that goal here....I'm 4.5 lbs in.

These mini-goals really do HELP break up the monotony! It makes it feel like real accomplishment that just continues to snowball.

Thanks Sherry!

04-09-2007, 08:35 PM
ok I'm in I'm going for 15 pounds. It sounds a bit high but I'm gonna try! Boy I'm funny I rhymed.

04-09-2007, 09:02 PM

I like your avatar. My son did really well pitching for little league for the first time this weekend. It was about 33 degrees, and I can't believe they still played. He pitched two innings and struck out four players!

Guess you can tell by my new avatar and ticker that I love the color lilac!

04-09-2007, 09:28 PM
The lilacs are blooming where I live--beautiful!

What a great idea! We haven't done one of these in a long time. These last 12 lbs. are getting really ridiculously hard to lose. So I'm going to say that I'd like to lose 3 lbs. by Memorial Day.

04-09-2007, 09:37 PM
Okay...deep breathe here....I'm going for 20 pounds! Yep, I might be crazy, but I'll never know unless I try. :)

04-09-2007, 09:43 PM
I set a goal about two weeks back to lose 16 pounds. My second WI for this mini goal is Wed. :)

04-09-2007, 10:00 PM
Great goals! I have set goals for myself by first day of spring, first day of summer, first day of autumn, and then first day of winter. That seems to help me since the holidays themselves aren't always spaced apart enough to give me a chance in-between!

That's how I'm doing it. By the seasons. I can aim for 25 lbs per season. A high goal, but I can try.

04-09-2007, 11:00 PM
I'm doing a challenge in the WW forum for the spring season....I still have 12 pounds to go on that challenge, so I'll work to see if I can get them off by Memorial Day. Count me in!

04-09-2007, 11:09 PM
How awesome ..........count me in........10 pounds by then!!!
Wooohoooo I'm excited

04-09-2007, 11:13 PM
I am going to go for 20 pounds too!

04-09-2007, 11:31 PM
Ohhh, I wanna play!

I'm going for 12 pounds as that will give me a 30 pound loss thus far!

04-10-2007, 12:29 AM
i am new here and love to gone you short term goal. I think that would be great to have a goal with a group of people. But there is on thing memorail day in the US is May 28. could some on verify that with me so i can mark that down. thanks
ps were is the progress chart!

04-10-2007, 12:31 AM
terra - yep, that's Memorial Day. :)

04-10-2007, 01:55 AM
Hello everyone...I'm new to the group and pretty excited about how supportive everyone is here.

I like doing challenges/having goals because I always seem to do better when I have something concrete to compete against.

Ideally I'd like to loose 20 lbs in 7 weeks but I think I'm going to be logical and aim for 15lbs.

04-10-2007, 09:09 AM
I think I'll go with the popular number and aim for 12. Woo hoo... That will put me in a weight that I haven't seen in years.

04-10-2007, 09:21 AM
I'm going to make my goal for anywhere in the 230's. Actually 235 would be fabulous as it would mark a total of 50 pounds for me.

04-10-2007, 09:36 AM
Okay...I'll go 10 by memorial day. That's also my 14th wedding anniversary! Not only that it'll be the lightest I've been in 10 years.OMG! How awful to realize that the lightest I've been in 10 years is still in the 250's.<<shaking head>>

04-10-2007, 10:26 AM

I apologize-I forgot that there are members from other countries that do not celebrate Memorial Day. Thanks Jennylou for posting the date.

Take care,

Janny O

Okey doke-I'm in for 12!

04-10-2007, 11:15 AM
I'll go for 10. Hopefully that will help me stay on track during my cruise next month! :o

04-10-2007, 11:17 AM
I want to do a major boogie on this and although I don't really like setting down specific goals, I just want to try my best to lose and see where I fall... My goal is 15 lbs by Memorial Day. Memorial day is a couple days after my birthday so it'll be good to be in the low 230s by then :)

04-11-2007, 07:15 PM
I don't really like setting down specific goals, I just want to try my best to lose and see where I fall.

I'm with nelie on this, so (May 28, you say?) I'm hoping to be at or below 190 by then.

04-12-2007, 07:27 AM
I'm going to aim to lose 10 pounds by then! Memorial day is also the day I arrive in California (from Belgium) for 3 months so it's a big day for me.

04-12-2007, 02:02 PM
My memorial day goal is 12.2 pounds. That will put me almost at my 5% goal

04-23-2007, 09:11 AM
I was just wondering how everyone was going with thier goals? I think for once in my life I might actually be going to achieve my goal - hopefully I haven't spoken too soon!

Does anybody else out there want to join our Memorial Day mini-goal challenge? With just over a month left it could be a great way to get / stay motivated.

04-23-2007, 01:30 PM
I have lost 4 pounds! Yay! I am so proud of myself. I think I might even exceed my goal which is fine with me. Keep it going girls!

04-23-2007, 01:38 PM
I'm down 2.8. I have 9.2 to go. I think it can happen, but I'm going to have to keep really focused. That's almost a 2 pound per week loss, which I don't always do. But we have time!!!

04-23-2007, 01:40 PM
I am going to say down to 315 by Memorial Day. That is a 7 pound loss. :)

04-23-2007, 01:52 PM
Well, as you can see from my ticker...I have lost 3 pounds. :broc:

Will I reach 20? Hmmm...we'll see. If not, that's okay. The scale is moving in the right direction.

04-23-2007, 02:48 PM
I like to idea of a mini-goal. One more reason to look forward to Memorial Day!! I would like to be down 18 (but, of course, will take anything in between!). Good luck, everyone. :goodvibes

04-23-2007, 03:53 PM
I'm down 2 so far, 10 more to go!

04-23-2007, 04:57 PM
I'm on my way! Only 4.5 to go...maybe I'll be early! :)

04-23-2007, 05:56 PM
Ok....I am in. I have not done this before but I wanted to lose 20 pounds before June 17th.....

The way things are going I might be able to do it sooner. My Memorial Day Goal is to be in the 230s which I have not seen in over six or seven years.

04-23-2007, 11:40 PM
Hi, I'd like to join the Memorial Day Challenge too! Since there are only 5 weeks to go, I'm setting a goal of 8 pounds. This would get me into the 250's, and lower than I've been in almost 3 years. Yikes! I'm just starting to get serious, so perhaps this mini-challenge will spur me on to bigger goals! I'm planning to try to follow the YOU plan. I have to head over to that support group as well to introduce myself. Thanks for the support! :)

04-24-2007, 12:00 AM
I have lost 5 pounds and have 7 to go. Almost halfway there!

04-24-2007, 01:59 AM
I'm down only 2 so I have 15 more left to lose..yikes gotta get to losing :)

04-24-2007, 03:08 PM
9.4 pounds left for me to reach my Memorial Day goal....we can do this everyone! Keep working at it!

04-24-2007, 04:20 PM
this might sound dum but when is memorial day? i would like to set a goal too.

04-24-2007, 08:46 PM
Memorial Day is May 28th this year

Goddess Jessica
04-24-2007, 08:54 PM
Eight weeks until Memorial day? Hmmm.

I'm going to try for 15 - that's really high but I need to shoot high or I'll get lazy!

04-24-2007, 10:02 PM
Sorry Jessica, only 5 weeks until Memorial Day.

Goddess Jessica
04-25-2007, 11:24 AM

Ok, 10 pounds by Memorial Day.

04-25-2007, 11:43 AM
My goal was to be 135. I have 5 weeks to lose 9 lbs umm well lets see :)

05-08-2007, 01:07 PM

Any updates? 3 weeks to go!

As of this morning, I'm down 6.2 of my 12 pound goal. :)

05-08-2007, 01:20 PM
I'm 3 lbs away!!! :)

05-08-2007, 01:32 PM
I'm having a disaster - I'm 8 pounds away (I'm actually going backwards!). I'm hoping to be within 2 pounds of my goal though.

05-08-2007, 02:40 PM
1.5 pounds away.

05-08-2007, 02:56 PM
is it too late? I would like to lose 4 lbs by then...

05-08-2007, 04:11 PM
Boy, it's going to be tough for me to make it. I have almost 9 to go to make it. With my little back injury, I had a setback with my exercise. I'm going to try to make it, but not kill myself if I don't make it.

05-08-2007, 05:02 PM
IF I stay strictly OP, I'm still on track. Big if; the last couple of weeks, I've been straining the limits of this plan, and weight loss is not quite as quick, as a result. That's okay, though, as I will lose the weight soon enough, even without setting any timed mini-goals.

05-08-2007, 05:26 PM
6.6 pounds to go.....I'm still thinking that I can make it! If not, I am lower than when I started, and for me that's the REAL goal!

05-08-2007, 06:34 PM
Well.....I'm trying! We have to go out of town again this weekend to take care of business on our new home in GA. Eating on the road can be rough on a diet...but, I'm trying. :)

05-14-2007, 11:01 PM
Memorial Day is 2 weeks away. How's everybody doing with the goals that were set?

05-14-2007, 11:03 PM
Met! :D

05-15-2007, 12:15 AM
I have 5 pounds to go. I'm gonna try HARD to make it!

Janny O
05-15-2007, 10:28 AM
Well, reached it a little early-so the rest is gravy.......or should I say "fruity"

05-15-2007, 10:29 AM
You've all done so well! I on the other hand have not done very well at all, I've only lost about 2lbs, but at least I haven't gained. I dread to think how much I would have gained if I hadn't actively been trying to lose.

05-15-2007, 11:10 AM
I met my goal and I'm 1 lb below it right now. Hoping after TOM, I'll drop another couple of lbs :)

05-15-2007, 08:19 PM
Great job, ladies!! :flow2:

It seems that I was a bit overzealous when I set my M.D. mini-goal. At this point, it doesn't seem likely that I'll make it. At least I'm moving in the right direction. Live and learn...I'll take this as a lesson to take things slowly and work on more appropriate goals! :)

05-16-2007, 12:19 PM
LWM, as long as we are moving in the right direction!

05-16-2007, 01:58 PM
I have lost 6. Well, I was having some problems, went right back to wher I started, had 10 to lose for my memorial day goal all over again. Well, I lost all that I gained back plus 2 more lbs. Yay! I think I can hit this goal. I am so excited! Everyone is doing great!

05-22-2007, 11:15 AM
Final week is here! How are we doing?

As of this morning, I have 3 pounds to go to reach my goal. Crossing my fingers!!!

05-22-2007, 11:50 AM
I'm not going to make it. I lost too much ground when I hurt my back. But, I'm lower in weight than when I made the goal, so that's good. I think I had a pretty tough goal to make anyway, but it just turned out that it wasn't meant to be. Unless, of course, I can lose 7 pounds this week! ha!

Congrats to all of you that are getting close and making your goal!!

05-22-2007, 04:12 PM
As of Sunday, I have 2.5 pounds to go. I am going for it! And really watching my snacking and exercising every day!

Christine in CA
05-24-2007, 03:55 PM
Congrats to those who are doing so well on their goal! And good luck to those with life's obstacles preventing them from getting there this time around! We can do this!!!

Well, I surpassed my goal to lose 10 lbs over the past 6 weeks and I just have to brag that I lost 3.5 pounds last week while on my first cruise, proving that it IS possible to LOSE weight on a cruise while not missing out on any yummy food! :D

05-25-2007, 01:06 AM
Memorial day is 4 days away and I want a goal! How bout a pound, just for the heck of it. I'll be outta the 250's!!:carrot:

05-25-2007, 12:18 PM
I don't know if I will make my goal or not. I was up 2 pounds on Wednesday, putting me 4.5 pounds from goal. My computer died Tuesday night, so I will not be able to post my weight loss until next Tuesday, when I get back to work. Congrats to all that have made (or passed!) their goal. And to all that didn't, but have not given up!

05-28-2007, 06:14 AM
Well. I just made it to my "Memorial Day" goal (of 190 lb) yesterday. A little more consistent exercise this past week was a good thing; now all I have to do is keep up this new habit of nearly daily exercise! BTW, what's the American "Memorial Day" in memory of?

05-28-2007, 09:06 AM
due to some ups and downs... mostly ups on the scale... I'm definitely not making my goal. great job to everyone who did, or at least made more progress than I did. Hopefully now working with the nutritionist will help me start losing.

have a great day!

05-28-2007, 10:23 AM
As of today, I'm 6 lbs past my memorial day goal.

05-28-2007, 01:59 PM
I did not make my goal. However, I think we have figured out that in addition to all my other medical concerns, I have sleep apnea. I'm going to see a doc for it, but I read where it can be the reason people can't seem to lose weight--ALLELUIA!!!! Finally an answer that makes sense.

05-29-2007, 12:43 AM
Congrats to all who made their goals. Wooooohoooo!! :carrot:

Me: I didnt make my goal. I did lose 11 pounds. I am happy with that. I have taken the time to analyze my diet and I know what I need to do to knock it out the box!!

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support!!

05-29-2007, 09:14 AM
I came within .5 of my goal and I am very pleased with that.

05-29-2007, 02:42 PM
Well. I just made it to my "Memorial Day" goal (of 190 lb) yesterday. A little more consistent exercise this past week was a good thing; now all I have to do is keep up this new habit of nearly daily exercise! BTW, what's the American "Memorial Day" in memory of?

Great job on getting to your MD goal!

The American Memorial Day is a day we pause to remember those who gave their lives for our great country.

05-29-2007, 03:40 PM
Great job, becoming wisdom! And, nelie, wow! Congrats to those who made their goals. I set mine pretty low, and was happy to make it.

SAPF, hope the docs can help with your sleep apnea. I, too, have heard it can be a reason for low or no weight loss in addition to being pretty darned dangerous. Glad it was discovered.
