GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, got up late due to the holiday, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done before I head out for my walk, so here's my contribution for MM, there's two for you today:
Doubt is nothing more than a thought, a thought over which you have complete control. Doubt is a thought which you can dispose of whenever you choose to do so.
One very effective way to dispose of those thoughts of doubt is to replace them with thoughts of power and faith. If doubt is holding you back, then choose to push its thoughts out of your mind with more positive, empowering thoughts.
If it's possible for you to think that you cannot, then it's just as possible for you to know that you can. It's simply a matter of replacing one thought with another. Thoughts of doubt will hold you back. Thoughts of confidence will push you forward. It's easy to see which thoughts will be more beneficial to you.
Is it really so difficult to transform "I can't do this" into "I will do this"? No, it's not difficult at all. It's a matter of choice. And that choice can make all the difference in the world.
Push the doubts out of your thinking. Fill your mind with so many thoughts of confidence that there's no room left for doubt. Free yourself of doubt, and you'll be free to achieve whatever you decide to pursue.
-- Ralph Marston

PATIENCE
There is enormous strength in patience, because patience enables you to achieve the most effective results, not just the most immediately available results. When you act out of haste and shortsightedness, time can work against you. When you are patient and diligent, time works in your favor.
Patience is more than just waiting. Patience is having the faith and the confidence to act over the long term, beginning now, and steadily continuing day after day until the goal is reached.
Patience expands your options. If you insist on immediate gratification, your choices are severely limited. When you are willing to work patiently and steadfastly toward your goals, those goals can realistically be just about anything you choose.
The greatest achievements are those which are built day after day, month after month, with one effort on top of another. When you can be urgent about the effort and patient about the reward, anything is indeed possible.

GM all,
I was not so good this weekend and I could tell it yesterday. I had a terrible headache and I am coming down with a cold.....so today it is back on the band wagon. Can you all give my wagon a little push??
Deb.........Cameo is a breed of horse called Paint. They are white horses with either brown or black places on them that look painted on....hence the name PAINTS. She is a beauty and I will try to get some pictures of her posted soon. We will leave her there till we get back from our Thanksgiving camping trip. Yes we have a nice barn and some good fenced pasture so she is going to love her new home.
I will be checking in later....I am off today .....that is why I am the first one to post after DEB. I am ususally on the bus at this time of the morning.
Cya,
Debbie :)

Well good morning everyone,
I dont know where to start ..... so I will just start fresh:o
I have been following the low cal low fat plan off and on for about a year now and WELL it just doesnt work as well as I thought it might  PLUS I seem to be gaining weight again, and not eating much SO I am gonna have to just start fresh and start back on the only program I ever used that I got good results and that of course would be SB ;) I am a little rusty on what I can eat seeing as it has been over a year now but I am looking though the information board and legal foods today to refresh my memory, first things first though... is (Uncle Sams Cereal) legal??
I had that and a 100% grape juice box and half a pear for breakfast and am so hoping that it was legal LOL, I will also have to go through the recipe boards too, it has just been so long since I was on this plan, I cant believe I left it in the first place... I guess loving sugar was my biggest problem, But now I think I will be ok.... The other reason I quit was that my dad had a massive heart attack a few years ago and they recomened the low fat and low cal plan for him....so I thought if they wanted him on it that I had better use it too...well I can still be low fat on this plan I think...I bought a bunch of legal foods last night and am really gonna try to do better..... I hope you will all forgive me for running off in the first place... and thanks for listening to me ramble:lol:

Morning Again!
Got in my 4.5 miles this morning, only walked, had no energy to go out, much less jog. Didn't sleep well again, shoulder and neck still stiff and bothering me. Hopefully it will be better come tomorrow.
Scale is up, but it's to be expected, smack dab in mid-cycle for me today. Should see a downward trend towards the end of the week, or at least I hope!
Hope those of you who are lucky to have the day off for the holiday are enjoying your "free-time." Kids are still sleeping, Eli's at work, not sure what the plans for the day will be.
ZSU, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! We're so happy you've decided to join us and BIGK. It was nice to read more about you on the BIO BOARD You definitely sound like you can motivate not only BIGK, , but us here on the board as well. You are making great strides (pun intended) with not only your walking, but your wonderful results so far with SB! 50lbs is awesome!!!:spin: I know what it takes to do a 10 mile walk and it takes a lot of commitment, time and desire. It really sounds like you're on the right track. No wonder BIGK is doing so well, with you there, how could she not!!! You truly sound like an inspiration. Don't worry about the plateau-I was on one for a month as well, and then finally, I moved mountains. I always say, patience is one of the keys to being successful on this WOE. I hope you will come with BIGK to Orlando the weekend of Jan 5-6 to meet us, we'd love it! The marathon you're doing-is it benefiting a good cause? Where is it being done? I'm thinking about doing the AVON 3 DAY in April, a 60 mile walk-going to try to get some info sent to me to see more about it. Again, we're glad you've joined us and WELCOME!!!!
BUSDEB, sorry you had a tad of a bad weekend. It's Monday, back on track. I don't think you fell off the wagon that bad, it's been moving slowly, so you should be able to hop right back on;) Thanks for the horse explanation, can't wait to see the pics! Have a good day off!!!
CHRISTIAN, WELCOME BACK it's been a while:) You seem to be doing well, being 4lbs above goal is nothing, I can gqain 4lbs overnight without eating anything off plan-but ultimately, it's how you feel that's important. Watching fats and calories is good, but you don't want to go too low without a Dr. overseeing what you're doing. Maybe you've slowed your metabolism down too slow and that's why you may be gaining a bit, and then again, it just may be a fluke-but it's good you are aware of it now, before it gets worse. The juice for breakfast I wouldn't repeat that, very high in sugars. Try to get some protein for breakfast if you can, something that will sustain you. Dig out the SB BOOK a brush up on it, that will help. Looking forward to see more of your posts again!
Just put on the boob-tube and heard about the plane crash:(-not the kind of news you want to hear, esp that it's in NY! I guess we will find out more as details come forth.
I'm outta here for now. Please remember, TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST hope you'll be able to join in!:D

Today's thought is:
"I get a massage almost every week no matter
where I am, eat a healthy diet, schedule time alone,
and if I get to a point where I feel I need a block of
time...I,ll cancel."
--Anne Wilson Schaef
Do we love and care for our body as well as we love
and care for our home and car? Do we feel our body
deserves full attention and a loving maintenance
plan?
Taking our body for granted is easy because of its
remarkable durability and regenerative power. We
may get lulled into a false sense of "nine lives"
body security, believing our physical being will fix
itself no matter what.
Self-care takes time and priority planning to be
successful. We may find we put off our exercise and
nutritional needs, saying, "Tomorrow I'll start
taking better care of myself." But sooner or later
tomorrow comes, and our body produces symptoms
that demand attention.
Learning to love and nurture our body brings
rewards without measure. We deserve to reap the
benefits starting today.
Today let me realize that respect for my body builds
a healing temple in which the rest of my life can
grow.

When I first posted here I recieved replies that I was in the wrong place so I have just lurked since then, but have enjoyed it.
I am not sure how motivating this will be for others, but I am definitely a happy woman. I finally located agave nectar! I have been trying to find it around home for about 2 months. I live in a large city with many health food stores and called every one from the last years phone bk. Then we got the new phone bk and a new hf store that carries it and at a very reasonable price. SB's are correct it is great! Even DH likes it.
A bonus while there, another patron told me there have been 2 "Trader Joe's" that have opened in the city. Does anybody shop there and have any recommendations for products they carry that are great and useable by SBs?
After following SB! for about 2 months(very happily I might add) I have finally gotten my weight below my setpoint weight(I know not all experts agree that people have a setpoint, but from my own experience I am a believer) so I feel like my goal weight is a possibility now. Anyway, I feel so much better with each pound lost.
I had lost 15 lbs. on Suzanne Somers plan then seemed hopelessly stalled so I switched to SB! because it is a little more practical for me and it apparently is working!

Oh well, not a good start for me - I spilled a whole-big cup of hot coffee on myself right off the bat this morning!! I had to run out to WM to buy me a new cheap pair (saved me from driving 30 minutes home). I am soooo sleepy today - there was a fire in the field next to my house last night so I kept getting up to check and make sure it wasn't getting out of control and moving toward us or anything. I didn't know that cotton bales could just catch fire. They say it has something to do with moisture and heat and sometimes when the mix is just right (wrong) it will just combust! I guess you learn something new every day!
I'm extremely upset with my Dr. I went and picked up the prescription he called in for me on Friday. It was generic, so I didn't know exactly what it was right away, but was suspicious that it wasn't what I wanted when I only got 12 pills w/no refills.... I got home and looked it up and it is Xanax!!! Here is part of the warning - "The habi-forming potential is high. It is possible to become dependant in the first few days. Do not stop taking abruptly." I was and still am furious!!! I specifically asked for something to get me through the holidays that was not habit forming!!! 12 pills with instructions to take every 8 hours as needed that are extremely habit-forming doesn't fit the bill. If I had asked for this, they probably wouldn't have given it to me!!! I'm calling them to let them have it right now!!
UPDATE - No one had posted since I was here earlier so I'm just doing an edit - I just spoke with the nurse and we talked about what I want/need. She is calling in a 2 month supply of wellbutrin (equivalent of Zyban, which I took earlier in the year to stop smoking) for me to take on a daily basis. I can still use the Xanax on days when I know its really gonna be an extra emotional day, like Thanksgiving day, in addition to the wellbutrin. I like this idea because I really feel like being on the Zyban when Daddy died helped get me through much easier and Wellbutrin is the exact same drug. It just has to be marketed as Zyban when prescribed to help stop smoking. It also has some good side effects like the ability to control things, like eating - which is a definate plus when trying to lose weight. I feel much better now and think this might be just the answer I needed!
You know - I don't think these docs like the fact that us patients can get on the web and research these things ourselves. They want to be the "authority" and when we have access to the internet and can look things up and asked pointed questions, they tend to act like they feel threatened or something. Like this, the nurse said to me after I told her that I found documentation of the Xanax being addictive that "if you look up everything on asprin, then you would even be afraid to take 1 pill" - I thought, give me a break - I'm not a freak, but I just don't want to replace one problem with another and I have every right to research what goes into my body!! I have seen too many things go wrong in the last year to take anyone's word for anything!! They could have gotten the wrong message, gotten people mixed up, or the pharmacy could have messed up. I guess they expected me to just take it now and ask questions later! Not me, not anymore and if they don't like it - I'll gladly pull my records and find a doctor who is glad that I am concerned about things like this!!!
My PMS is RAGING  - CAN YOU TELL!!!
Oh well, I got what I wanted and only cried once during the conversation so I'll just try to be happy with it. I think I will take one of those Xanax pills today! My research did also find that it is given for extreme PMS!! How ironic?!?!:dizzy:
Hope everyone is fine and having a much better day than I!!

I know just how you feel..
That's right.... BOB got her some PAXIL...
My Dr is POLISH and speaks broken english..She's a sweetie, and I'm so glad that I picker her. She said I have a bad case of "WORRY..WORRY" and that this would help me. I didn't even have to ask for it! :^: She told me that if I wanted have my stomach restapled she would arrange it, but that she would rather I just get focused, lose weight and then she would arrange for me to have a tummy tuck ;)
She decided to leave me on my current restless leg medicine and my acid reflux medicine. She wants me to have a GASTROSCOPY to see what my stomach looks like on the inside since she just cant get a vision of what is going on in there since I've stretched out my stomach.
I have lab work for everything imaginable...she is testing EVERYTHING ...can't wait to see the results...I'll let you know..

Evening!
Not much going on here, Eli's due home later, Mom just left from a quick visit and I'm going to cut up some chicken breast I bought in a few minutes.
I ate a persimmon today, ate 2 yesterday-I had NO idea they were so high in not only calories, but carbs! Oh my goodness, one 5oz persimmon is 180 calories and 47 carbs! I won't be touching the other 4 sitting there-let them rot if no one else wants them!
LDBLOND, thanks for posting that motivational thought-it's good, and makes one think. What are your plans for your birthday? My Grandpa's bday is the same day:) Have you and NANCE decided on when you two can get together next?
ROSE, yep, you are in the right place now:) You seem to be doing very well on SB, CONGRATS! That's great you found the agave syrup, using it opens so many new opportunities to eat healthy delicious foods and still stay OP (okay, BAKED GOODS, there, I said it!). I am green with envy to anyone who's lucky enough to live near a TJ's-I LOVE THAT STORE! Ask NANCE just how many times I hit it when we stayed with them in August! They have great WW PITA BREAD, CRACKED WHEAT SOURDOUGH BREAD, wonderful low fat cheese, including my fav. Cabot 75% reduced fat, SWEET POTATO FRIES (I actually brought some home from Las Vegas, but haven't tried them yet), some good SB LEGAL CHOCOLATES (but I suggest staying clear of that until you are close to goal), nuts there are good, some dried fruits (some has sugar, so check the ingredients), I hear the mayo is good, but I didn't buy any. Their EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL is delicious, as well as MARANTHA PB-and both are cheap. They have good WW PASTAS, I could go on-just go when you have time to mosey slowly through each aisle. Store isn't big at all, but I could spend a lot of time and do a lot of damage in one!!!! I think you should print a picture of my face, plaster it to the front of the cart and take me with you!!! LOL!!!
TV, I hope you didn't burn yourself with the coffee! I can see why you are upset with your Dr., hope he comes up with a better solution. Have you ever tried something natural, like that St. John's Wort? Let us know what you find out!!
BOB, sounds like you're going to get a good checking out by the Dr.-sounds good-at least you can get an insider's view! PAXIL? Have you checked out the side effects of the drug-weight gain could be one of them. Don't want to burst any bubbles, just make sure you are informed:) Hmmm, 2000 calories a day, sounds like a smart Dr. to me!;) You constantly PUSH Uncle Sam's, yeah, push it out your rear-I couldn't resist!!! I think what ROSECAL meant was she posted on the wrong board, not on the weekly board, but it seems she's found her way now.
I'm outta here for the evening, may check back later, otherwise, tomorrow after my walk.
Have a wonderful evening.

Happy B-day! LDBLOND
TV - I know how you feel. I've alienated many a doc with my questions. :p But on the other hand, at my clinic, we get lots of patients who cruise the web and get Misinformation. No one's patrolling the web for crackpot sites. A lot of the times, something doesn't even apply to a patient, but she wants to do it anyway. So, I can see both sides of the coin. It's so hard in the HMO world to even talk to a doc, and then for more than 5 min! So, good for you for double-checking! :)
Debelli & TV - re: St. John's Wort, I think it might affect the birth control pill, so double-check that w/ your doc. BTW, Debelli you've got me going to TJ's to check out those items you mentioned. I need to try them out!
Bob - good luck to you! Isn't it wonderful to have a sympathetic, understanding doc!
Welcome ZSU! Congrats on the loss!
Hi Christian! Nice meeting you!
Rose -I love TJ's too. I go there for the frozen soybeans (edamame), flash-frozen fish (usu Ahi Tuna), and coffee. I used to get their RSBT free milk (non-hormonal) but I got used to FF milk, and their FF RSBT free milk is much creamier. Weird huh?
Anecdotal info re: SB and other diets. The person who told me about SB, said she did SB and lost 30#, then stalled, then added Blood Type diet to it, and lost 10# more.
Yay for reaching your setpoint! I heard a doc talking about that once. It seemed a very discouraging idea. Am I thinking about the same thing? Is your goal weight lower than your setpoint?
Debelli - StPats considers the agave nectar an extract. like malt extract and honey. So I guess they add the vodka to all their stuff. I didn't see anything different in my bucket. I did add 1/4oz (that's only 1/2 Tablespoon) Vodka to the surface of it. We don't have much humidity, but I don't have the time I thought I would to bake. I was afraid it might grow before I got to it. I think the dark tastes more like molasses except milder.
BusDeb - I found a wagon!

Good evening all,
I had an ok off day. Spent it doing things around here. Now I am just waiting for it to get bed time so I can hit the hay. Not sure why I am so tired but usually when I get out of my routine I am like this. That is why I am such a good busdriver because I love that continuity of getting up every day at the same time...leaving with my bus at the same time and then doing the same thing in the afternoons. Keeps me sane or maybe not......LOL
I talked to the wonderful gal that I am getting the horse (Cami) from today. She is so sweet and loves her babies so I know this beautiful animal has not been neglected. Anyway we are leaving her at thier home till we get back from our trip next week. It will be so much less tramatic for Cami if we are here as close to 24/7 as possible for a good while. I also asked for some pictures and she said her hubby works the computer in her family and he is in Atlanta and is not sure when he will return. She said she would email them as soon as he gets back. She also said for us to come over anytime and get to know Cami better so Sara and I will be going by after school tomorrow for a little while. I am also inquiring tomorrow about some lessons at a horse farm near our school for Sara and a refresher for me. It is going to be so much fun messing with horses again.
BOB .......good luck hon with all your tests. Go easy on the drugs.....j/k
TV......I am so glad that the doctor wants to change thier thinking about the meds. I hope things get straightened out for you. Not having TOMS anymore I have forgotten how quick those things roll around. I hear you and DEB talking about it being almost time for my TOM and it seems like yesterday that you just said that in a post....but was a month ago.... how soon we forget. Good Luck hon. I was in Athens on saturday....thought about you. :)
rosecal....welcome and agave syrup is one of my fav things about SB's. I use it in my coffee and without I had just as soon do without my coffee.
Christian .....welcome back....nice to meet you.
Deb .....thanks for the thoughts on patience .....I need that and I need it now....LOL. So you have never spend much time on a farm huh? Well come to Alabama and stay a few days with me and we will teach you some new things. LOL
Well I will run....we have a birthday breakfast in the morning for one of our bus buddies. I will see you all after that.
Smiles,
Debbie :)

Another week for another opportunity for success!
BOB--I think only you got it! Perhaps I need to post my creative "thoughts" on Mondays because Sundays no one reads the board in the afternoons or evenings. This fall weather has been getting me all excited: think I'm gonna try some new recipes this week. Might try some indian pudding this weekend when I have the time for it. Hope it comes out just right!!! ;)
I lost 2 pounds last week, so hope I can lose a pound or 2 this week too. Thanksgiving will be a little bit of a challenge, but I am planning to stick to plan. The fats will be a big problem, because there is just extra fats when you bake a turkey. I have a recipe around somewhere for low fat gravy. I normally make stuffing with wild rice and brown rice, so that won't be a problem. Pumpkin pie might be a bit of a temptation. In fact, I would still not have any problem returning sweets to one of the basic food groups. Another problem is amount of food. SB presents a pix of a plate with little dabs of food, not lapping over onto the rim of the plate. Normally, Thanksgiving dinners have plenty of food on the outside edge of the plate, and we go back for seconds. So that might be just one of the difficulties: to break out of the pre-formed idea of what Thanksgiving dinner is supposed to look like. Eating like a thin person would result in a plate with those little piles of food, separated neatly on your plate and not smushed all together because you need to cram so much of the good stuff on there. Hmmm. I'm gonna work on mental imaging of what my Thanksgiving dinner plate will look like. A nice sane amount. And if I can do that, then I can reward myself with a sliver of pumpkin pie.
Welcome newbies!
I have a busy week ahead. Meeting every night, and then we are going to be out of town this weekend. My tentative menu for our tailgate picnic:
Cold poached salmon with lemon paprika sauce
Grilled vegetables
Toasted WW pita "toasts" with hummus or caponata
Fresh tossed salad
Fresh fruit salad
Other assorted odds and ends
Wine
The game is a night game, so we plan to take a candelabra and candles to light our picnic table. Might as well go totally gourmet!
Got my weight lifting in today. Miss seeing you, SolShine, at the gym. The trainer there now has me riding the bicycle, where he times me and has me riding both in and out of the saddle. He adjusts the resistance and makes it pretty challenging. Normally I hate biking, but with him coaching me through, it is not as bad as it could be, and it definitely is a good workout.
Gotta go. Want to check out the lastest news before I hit the hay.

NOw don't die of shock, I am still here!
I know that it has been awhile since I've posted anyting here. But
things have been very crazy, and making choice on how to spend my time means that surfing the web, and posting got up at the end of the list.
THings here are going real slow, painstakingly slow, BUT I will not give up!!!! I lent out my book and have a couple of quick questions. Have we decided if Special K cereal is legal or not.
And how about NON Fat Yogaurt with friut ( I now the sugar listed is high- is that from the fruit??)
I am still working on the step aerobics- going a couple times a week plus a couple of days of water aerobics. Plus walking. I almost have to talk myself into taking a day off once in while.
Now that everyone has been talking about drugs. I had been on Paxil for while, and discussed the choice with my Dr and counselor and we decided that because of the side effects like weight gain-. BUt now on the other side of this, I was on Pakil for the last year and managed to lose 80 pounds. So I think that it is just up to how you body responds to it. I am now on Buspar which doesn't have side weight gain side effect.
BOB- get you stomch checked out- it is a real easy procedure- that is what I do all the time. Assist the Dr with EGD's -esophagastroduodenoscopy. ANd you might find out that things are better and you might not need the reflux drugs.
Well, I am getting really sleep and the day starts early tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day. I will be back soon.

Good Tuesday Morning:wave:
Another beautiful day here in SOFLA-got in my 4.5 miles, no wonderful times, but not too bad, 51:15. Terrible car crash was still on the street when I went, no doubt whoever was in that car didn't survive-wrapped around a tree, front end non-existent. Looked like just a single car, must of been speeding. Every time I walk I have to really watch out for myself, the drivers down here are crazy and the stretch of road I walk is very busy and highly traveled.
The scale is up, up and away for me. I expected this though, but never like seeing it. Up 4.5lbs from my lowest, up 3lbs from just Sunday! Anyone who gets discouraged by unexpected gains, just remember me! There's no way in the world that I've eaten almost 11,000 excess calories in the past 3 days to gain 3lbs! I know it's hormonal and will come down in the next few days.
It's TUESDAY TIPS and with the upcoming holidays, I've decided to repeat these tips that I posted last year (which are archived on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD).
Here's some great tips for eating during the holidays or at a social event:
Adopt a moderation mentality when holidays, special events, or other occasions approach. Here are some easy steps to get you started:
Step One - Get a grip on yourself ahead of time. Restate your commitment to improved health and long-term dietary success.
Step Two - Preplan holidays to reduce food temptations. Plan lower calorie meals. Preplan deviations from lowfat living. Adopt party training strategies.
Step Three - Don't risk going to any celebration thirsty and/or famished and never skip meals on the day of any big party. The combination of low blood sugar and hunger pains will force you straight to the buffet table. Eat a lower fat, higher protein breakfast. Have a tossed salad with lean meat or lowfat cheese and a whole grain roll for lunch. Munch an apple for a midafternoon snack. This defensive eating strategy will avoid unplanned, party binges.
Step Four - Make the choice to stay in control. This is the hardest step. Be ACTIVE rather than REACTIVE.
Step Five - If tempted, ask yourself this one little question. "Will I EVER have the opportunity to eat this food again?" That makes it easier to pass up ho-hum mashed potatoes, gravy, cheese, chips, and nuts.
Step Six - Completely avoid ANY food if you KNOW you won't be able to stop after one taste. Remember that your willpower to resist is strongest BEFORE the first bite.
Step Seven - What about goodies, gift trays, etc., received from others? First, acknowledge the giver's generosity and thank them for the thoughtful gift. If possible, tell them you will enjoy it later.
REMEMBER - Remember that YOU ARE IN CONTROL. There is NO situation where a human has been tied up and force-fed fattening foods. Focus your attention and energies on family, friends and fellowship rather than food. The phase No, thank you," works wonders.
TREE, oh please think of me on your next trip to TJ'S! I wish they'd build one down here-I'd be there ALL the time! Do try their FF JALAPENO CHEESE, if you like a cheese with a little heat. The lf gouda they have is also good. Have fun using that agave!!!
BUS, what other animals do you have? I'm sure Cami will love her new home when you bring her there-can't wait to see pics of the newest family member!
GATOR, are you planning to meet up with us when FROG comes?
LAMAP, glad to see your post! It does seem that SPECIAL K is okay on SB, though personally, I don't eat it. As for the yogurt, you have the look at the ingredients, if it doesn't say SF, then it probably has sugar/corn syrup, if you don't see any forms of sugars in the ingredients, then the sugar grams are naturally occuring. Have you ever tried taking plain yogurt and putting some fruit puree in with a little Stevia? That's what I do-delicious! Do you think you'll be able to get to Orlando when we go to meet FROG in Jan??
CHRISTIAN, go to the library, they should have the SB BOOK, once you read it and get back to the familiarity of it, you should be okay. Otherwise, you could probably find a used copy to buy on the web, maybe even in a used book store if you have one in your area. LMK, I can send you a coupon for one of the sites I use for 1/2 off. Best bet, check out http://prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters for a good overview. As for sandwiches, that's fine, just try to limit starchy carbs to 2-3 a day. When I make a sandwich, I slice the bread in half.
Tomorrow is WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I pray you all have better luck than I have so far this week.
Hope you all have a good day, I look forward to "chatting" with you all tonight at CHAT AT 9:15PM EST
Toodles!

Still very tired today and having MEGA cramps! Yuck.
I started my Wellbutrin this morning, so hoping I'm gonna be able to rise from the ashes in a few days. It takes about a week for that stuff to get into your system. It should kick in good by Thanksgiving.
Still haven't heard about my thyroid bloodwork - maybe today!
Deb - Sounds like a bad scene this morning. I'm always seeing wrecks on my way to work in the mornings. We have crazy drivers here too. It always makes me count my blessings when I see a bad one like that.
Bus - glad your day off was good. I have a very good friend that has 2 horses. She tells some of the funniest stories about them. One of them is older and has gotten to where it lays down, all the way, in the field and takes a nap. She was telling me that she thought he might have died one day because he had laid there and not moved for 45 minutes. Her daughter went out to check on him (Horse's name is Whiskey) and he waited until she got all the way to him and had reached out to touch him before he moved. I said he just needed some attention really bad! This is the same horse, who when they first got him would eat the stall. Yes, the actual wood - he would get bored and destructive. They had to keep him toys around to play with so he wouldn't chew on everything!
BOB - Hello fellow "junkie":s: . I guess we both got what we wanted yesterday, but it sure would be nice not to NEED it - wouldn't it?!?! You do what ya gotta do and sometimes you just need a little help! Hope all goes well for you! I read some on a few other things yesterday, but not Paxil, and there are a good many of them that list weight gain as a side effect..... that is one reason I asked for wellbutrin - it helps control cravings of all kinds. I really mean it did the trick for me when I kicked the smoking habit, so I know it works!
Gator - way to go on the 2 lbs!
Tree - I have learned that it never hurts to ask questions. Sometimes it keeps folks on their toes and after all we are all only human and can make mistakes. I always try and trust my doctor and only look to the net for cold hard facts. I try to be a very good patient and only expect the same from the doc!!
Christian & Lamap - glad to see you! :)
Rosecal - WELCOME!!
See you gals a little later! I'm going to get coffee - maybe I can keep in in the cup today rather than my lap ;)

Good morning
It's a bright cool morning here. I went out for a swim at 6.30 this morning and had to scrape ice off the windshield. I almost changed my mind - felt like jumping back into my warm bed. But I persevered and did a 30 minute swim plus some exercises in the water. Then came back and got on the stationery bike and did 5 miles - it took me 30 minutes but I was reading at the same time so it was a leisurely ride.
Christian - Welcome back - glad to see you are back on the SB wagon.
Busdeb - Sorry you had a bad weekend. Hope you are feeling better to-day and have gotten back on the wagon.
Tvthatsme - Hope you didn't burn yourself with that coffee yesterday. I'm glad you got your med changed from Xanax. I just checked it in my drug handbook and one of the common side effects is depression. I think you did the right thing by questioning your doctor about the prescription. It's our bodies and we need to be aware of what is going in them.
BOB - What kind of diet did you get from your doctor? Was it SB? I would be interested in seeing a couple of days sample menus if you have time to post them (or you could e-mail me). I think I need to change something to get my metabolism going and I am open to new ideas.
Rose - Glad you found the agave nectar. I just found it recently and enjoy using it although I don't do much baking (afraid to as I would be eating most of it). I use it on pancakes occasionally and yesterday I cooked some spareribs and used it in my barbecue sauce in place of the honey that the recipe calls for and it tasted great.
Tree - That was interesting about the person who stalled on SB then started losing again on the Blood Type diet. Maybe I should check it out - I think my son has a copy of the book. I wasn't too interested in reading it before but perhaps now is the time. I'm tired of being stalled for so long and losing, maybe one pound a month on average.
Gator - When I make turkey gravy I use the liquid that comes out of the turkey. I drain off the liquid and let it sit for a while then remove most of the fat. Just leave enough to mix with the flour - or whatever you are using for thickening. The liquid from the giblets I use in my stuffing.
Lamap - Glad to hear you are keeping up with the exercises. Yes, Special K is considered legal. It has a gi of 54.
All for now. Will not be at chat tonite as I will be working this evening.

Hello everyone! As you can see I have been very busy and hardly able to post! I go every other weekend to my parents so I can go and visit my brother at the Federal Prison. My kids love going over there as they have animals and the boys have the freedom to roam the woods  . I have been doing great and staying OP totally. Weekends are always hardest for me but since both of my parents are also doing SB! it was easy this weekend :) My father is very heavy and is not really losing weight very fast but I really don't think he is eating enough food. Plus he is still eating bread and I told him it would be better to leave off the bread totally and add other starchy carbs instead. My mother ( the original hippy chick) had Stevia in her cabinet ! LOL. I could not believe it but should have know that she would be up on that stuff. Hers had alcohol in it though and did NOT taste very good in my whipped sweet potatoes! I can hardly wait for WIW but I am making myself stay off the school until then :) Hope everyone is doing good and welcome all newbies !

Thank you to all for the Trader Joe's suggestions. I am going to write them down and check them out when I go there. I had went to the other side of town to the hf store that sold the agave to learn of there being a Trader Joe's much dloser to me. Oh well, live and learn!
BOB, did not mean to imply that anyone was rude or mean, just that they informed me when I believe I had posted a new *thread* instead of *reply*. Similar to going down a one way street and having someone tell you.
A cpl. of sites I like to use to check out herbs and medicines are Healthcentral.(there is a site there for herbs and natural things also) and the physician's desk reference online at consumer.pdr.net/consumer/index.htm I have found helpful.
Tree, when I said "setpoint" I think of that as the weight (over) that my body always seems to settle at throughout life. *I* usually maintain it there but it takes more and more struggle (especially with middle age) to go lower, which for my BMI to be healthy I need to lose at least 12 -15 more lbs. Some diet gurus have written about this(I have read *so* many diet bks. I do not remember which) and as always some other *authority* claimed wht they said was nonsense.!? Anyway I was happy to see the # under it,*finally*
I plan to get the nerve up to post my WIW weight sometime soon. I have hesitated because of seeming so "stuck" at one weight, I figured I would discourage everyone else along with myself. I have had a terrible time trying to lose even though staying on program. I am use meds for hyothyroidism and hypertension and I think that slows metabolism. Adding a few extra minutes of exercise daily has helped also, I think.
Thanks for the welcome. I enjoy everyone's posts. Debelli thank you for your help.

I haven't posted in a while. Darn cold is hanging on. i haven't felt like doing much of anything. I finally went to the doc this afternoon and she said it's no longer viral so I have a prescription. Hopefully the meds will kick in quick and clear up this bug that's zapped all my energy.
WELCOME to all the new faces.
I hope all who have been needing their meds adjusted/changed find what works for them soon. I have a cousin that has had to get his meds changed until he found what worked for him (he had really bad depression). We write to each other daily and I can really see a positve :) change in him from a couple of years ago.
I've only been skimming the posts, but was interested in the Special K question myself. I've seen it listed in several GI indexes as being in the low 50's. I'm kind of confused since the ingredients listed are: rice, wheat gluten, sugar/glucose-fructose, defatted wheat germ, salt, milk ingredients, malt(corn flour, malted barley)..........etc. Rice and sugar in the first 3 ingredients and corn flour in the malt.:dizzy: I'm so confused.
I've also been reading The Glucose Revolution Diet Plan (or something like that) and it's saying that CORN is ok to eat. I'm even more confused :?: I guess we each have to find the right balance of what works for us.
I weighed a couple of days ago and had lost the 2 lbs I gained a couple of weeks ago, plus one more:D . I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way for WIW.
That's about it for my energy level.
I think of all of you daily!

Hey All:wave:
I'm pooped, ran around all day long, in and out of stores-had to reward myself with some Carbolite before dinner (vanilla and hazelnut/coffee swirl-YUM). Running and not sleeping well last night has run me ragged and I could just hop in bed right now! Eli snored all night long, I don't think he's ever been so bad. Seems he's coming down with something and he was in a deep sleep, but I wasn't! Plus, shoulder still hurting a tad, hard to get comfortable-hoping for a better night tonight!
CHRISTIAN, hope you did well at the Mexican rest-didn't get your PM until late. I eat at least once a week at a Mex. Rest., but it's always a cobb salad. I would think fajitas without the tortilla, or bring tortilla's that are SB legal would be a good thought for the future.
TV, hope you are feeling better. I'm one who rarely gets cramps, thank goodness!
ROSALIE, just how cold is it getting there? I don't have anything to wear when it gets cold down here-haven't had to buy anything since last year and even then, all I bought was a sweatshirt jacket. I've been looking for something I can wear when I go for my walks, but haven't found anything I like-we don't get much in the way of winter wear down here, at least not compared to other places around the US. Congrats for getting out there and going for your swin AND doing the SB!
LIZERY, you can tell your boys are brothers, but I do believe the little one looks like you. Next, pic of hubby! That's great your parents are doing SB with you, really makes things easier, esp. when you go to visit. Dad should have 2-3 starchy carbs, bread is fine as long as it's SB LEGAL-many people don't want to give that up. Mom's Stevia has alcohol in it? That's strange-wonder why. What brand? I just bought 3 boxes today at a HFS at a steal of $3.99 a box:) Okay, you have my interest peaked, and so I must ask-is brother employed at the prison, or incarcerated - you can tell me I should mind my own business if need be, just curiosity in me sets in.
ROSECAL, when you get a chance, do please post your BIO on our BIO BOARD so we can learn a bit more about you and so I can add you to my mailing list. When are you going to TJ's? You post your weight when and if you feel comfortable, you don't have to if you don't want to. There are others on this board who have a tough time losing weight and tend to lose very slowly. We all get discouraged at times, but the support on the board gets us through those times:)
ZANNE, you aren't the only one confused about SPECIAL K-when in doubt, I don't eat it, even if the book says it's okay-I tend to disagree with quite a few things they list as being okay to eat because it just doesn't make sense. But as you said, you have to do what you find is right for you. BEACHFAN ate bananas the entire time on SB and made goal last year, so with each of us being different, what one can eat, another one can't. Hope your WIW tomorrow keeps those 2lbs off and then some!
BOB, glad you are feeling better! Hey, I saw a new thing they are doing, it's a tiny camera you swallow, the size of a pill that takes pics of your insides-was really interesting. The tube didn't look like something I'd ever want to do! BUT, I guess whatever is necessary, you can just imagine the tube as being a big piece of red licorace! Big Boy hasn't been on the computer at all, he's been working hard and just hasn't had the time-will tell him to e-mail you when he gets a chance. I did hear from Kim, she's taking a break from dieting-hope she comes back to us though. Can't wait to see the FF, with Donny Osmond (use to love him when I was little-okay, I'm still little-YOUNGER!)-looking forward to AMAZING RACE tomorrow night.
Again, a reminder that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!GOOD LUCK!
Okay, I'm outta here until chat-see you then!

Yes her stevia was a liquid with a dropper and it had alcohol in it, tasted OOGEY. Um I am bad about name brands I will check it out the next time I go
Yes my brother is incarcerated in federal prison. One of the many stresses in my life the last 2 years. We are extremely close and sometimes think we share the same brain! Very much alike and I miss the **** out of him. He went in May 2000 and is scheduled for release November 2003. Very hard for all of us. The good thing is he is at a local federal prison not far from us so we see him almost every weekend. He is 24 years old.

Quickie, late for bed, will probably be pooped again tomorrow!
Thanks to FROG & BIGK for coming to chat-and hopefully, newcomer SHASTA will be joining us on the board.
BOB, what the heck is all that?!? Did you type all that? My gosh! Can't get you on the board sometimes, but boy-oh-boy, you can type when you want to girl! I know you just used the guidelines and can't be eating some of that stuff! GUESS WHERE I WENT TODAY! FRESH MARKET and I thought of you!!:D
LIZ, will check out the pics in the morning-can't wait to see the hubby too. I'm sure having your brother in prison is stressful on the entire family. Any chance for an earlier parole? I'm sure it's good for both of you that he's close and gets to see you as often as he does.
BUSDEB, sounds like you are building you own version of Old McDonalds Farm. Cows! Are they just looking cows, or milking cows? No chickens? I'd probably love to come visit you-it sounds like it would be a blast to be around some animals other than the ones that live like humans here in Miami!:s: I'll work on that pic for you tomorrow.
ACES, carbs depends on how many calories you take in. SB recommends approx. 40% of your intake comes from carbs. For me, I eat approx. 1400 calories and I do 45% carbs, which is approx. 155 carbs. This is a WOE you could DEFINITELY stick to for a lifetime-I surely plan on doing so:D

Deb - Hope your shoulder is better tomorrow. Have you tried poking Eli in the ribs when he snores too much. That should stop him for a while to give you a chance to get to sleep. The temp was 36 F at 6.30 a.m. yesterday morning but it did warm up quite a bit later and we had a good sunny day. I don't mind the cool weather as long as the sun shines.

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING!
Got in my 4.5miles, only walked today, no jogging at all, did it in
1hr 49 seconds. Just wasn't in the mood to try any harder, was actually going to take the morning off then decided WHY? I need the boost that walking gives me. For some reason I find that when I walk I am less hungry in the mornings than when I don't walk.
WIW I knew would not be good for me due to me being mid-cycle and the gain I usually have, so I'm not obsessing over it. I'm up 3.5lbs from my lowest, up 1.5lbs from last WIW, but down the additional pound I was up yesterday, so I'm hoping the downward trend has started and I'll have good news to report over the next few days. At this point, I'm happy to stay within my 5lb "cushion" even when I do have these expected gains.
ROSALIE, shoulder is a bit better, not 100%. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my new pillow:?: Poke Eli, that's being too nice, I'd kick him if I could reach him, he's on one edge of our bed, I'm on the other, my legs are too short to reach across the king size bed and my body is too lazy to scoot over to give him a swift one. Usually he's not that bad all night, guess it's just a combination of him being so tired and getting sick. Thanks again for doing the pics for GATOR & TREE!:D
LIZ, CONGRATS! Another pound is wonderful news!!! Are you still keeping track of what you're eating?
Well, it seems that I have this "job" doing the recipes! I'm very excited and hope I don't disappoint them. I will be working on some concoctions today so I can submit them to Avis for the labels of the new bottles. I'm just hoping that I won't overindulge.
Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY! If you have any SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow. I'm going to do my darndest to get some Thanksgiving appropriate recipes up and running.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Well, of course since it's WIW I'm up a pound form the last two days, so the numbers are the same as last week:( 175/147/13?. Bummer, I thought I'd get to post a loss. Maybe next week. I've been fight a losing battle with some infectious bug (throat, headache, stomach yuck) so have really lightened up on the exercise, maybe that's why the scale is up. Today I did my slowest walk ever, 3.5 miles of being dragged by a baffled dog. I've never firgured out if it's actually worthwhile to try to exercise if you can't do at least a 75% workout- do you still get the afterburn benefits, or just a "shutdown"? Any physiologists out there have an answer? All I know is when I tried to lift on Monday afternoon, I had to cut my weight back, but felt like I'd doubled them!:?:
Liz- Your boys are cuties- I think they look a lot like you! Congrats on another pound down.
Deb- Great on getting the job- guess you price yourself right or too low! Sounds like fun, just remember you can always package up the extras and send them to the starving children in wherever. You son't need to personally save them by cleaning the plate:lol: Looking forward to new recipes, now that I finally found a source for the agave. Hope you get some sleep soon, we used to have the same problem here. Does Eli have frequent sinus problems? Jon used to snore like a chainsaw and have chronic sinus infections. He put off going to an ENT Dr. until he was on antibiotics almost year round, but after having his sinuses roto-rootered (not pleasant, but he says he'd do it again given the circumstances) he hasn't been sick OR SNORED in 7 years. Believe me, his shins used to be black and blue from me "nudging" him all night long. I was quite willing to scoot across the king-size bed to stop that noise for a while! Even considered taking a pool cue to bed:devil:
BusDeb- What a a menagerie! Do you have to get up at 4:30 every morning to milk and feed and muck? The horse sounds really exciting, tho. On e of my step-sisters, who lives outside of Huntsville, AL has 3 horses, and 2 dogs, and has added 2 goats recently because she says that the horses and goats like to play with each other all day and keep each other company. This sounds a bit farfetched to suburban me (1 cat and 1 dog is all I can handle), but she's been hanging around stables since she was 12 so she either know what she's talking about, or has taken a few to many falls:dizzy:
Bob- Hope your feeling better, that Paxil is certainly giving your fingers a lot of energy! The diet(?) looks depressingly complicated- kind of like all the weight watchers point counting that I could never manage. I thought the bood type diet was more an avoidance diet of certain foods based on your type- both my stop-father and mother do it. They are both thin as rails, but swear it makes them stay healthier. Personally I think each of them gaining 10 pounds would make them healthier. Enjoying your comfy new matress?
Hi Frog- Sorry I missed chat last nite. Sounds like you are having an workout relapse too- maybe for you the after effects of your 15 mile jaunt and change in meds? Hope you feel better.
Hello to the new additions, and everyone I've missed.

OK, today my stats are 159/147/125 - which is the same as last week but really pretty good considering TOM and the fact that I was up to 149  on Sunday! I'll take it and hope for better next week. I have been doing good with the water the last couple of days and I really believe that is a big deal!!
BOB - I think it does make you feel better just knowing that someone is actually trying to help!!! I started my wellbutrin yesterday and I know its working already because I had the side effect of sleeplessness! I tossed and turned after 2am this morning and never really got back to sleep. I know this will pass because the same thing happened when I started taking zyban last April. Your body just has to adjust to the meds! Good luck with yours!

My 31st birthday brings mixed emotion about this year's success.
Overall I feel I've done well in the past 9 months with SugarBusters. Since February, I've lost about 20lbs and although each day is continually an internal battle I know that I'm a healthier person without sugar. With the wedding an all, I certainly tested boundaries and ate and drank things that are so way off plan that it would make you cringe, but overall, none of it made me happy and some of it was ridiculous and just set my stomach off. My resolve, I'm in a better place than I was last year. Leaving the extra weight behind certainly makes me feel better about me. I accept that I will be floating around these 5-7 lbs for a life time, but that there is no excuse to completely forget that I am TOTALLY responsible for what goes in my mouth and that being totally ignorant will only result in me gaining all the weight back.
As for other aspects of life, I feel a sense of numbness when it comes to the mouth thing, maybe someday that will be over, but I don't go back to the Dr. for another month to discuss the future.
My family is wonderful. My marriage is in good shape and I still very much in love with my husband 15+ years later. My kids are healthy and I've learned a lot about how to make living with asthma easier.
One of the very best things that has happened is that I have a best girlfriend, something I've yearned and prayed for for years. And as a total bonus, I have all of you! It's been a wonderful year of growth in the friendship arena for me.
Only one major goal do I set for myself this upcoming year and that is to make exercise a constant part of my life.
Well girls, no plans, although I'm hoping for dinner at Outback. I'll let you know. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Hello ladies. I'm sorry that I have been gone for a while. I had some thinking to do.
I hve decided that right now is not the best time for me to try and stay true to SB. I know tha I will fall vicitm to the holidays and I don't want to get into a funk because I failed. I figure it is better to just accept things through the holidays and start fresh in the New Year.
I appreciate all the support that I have gotten here and I promise that I will be back in the New Year.
I hope that everyone has a great holiday season and a very happy New Year.
Here's to 2002 and a smaller me!!

Well I am down one pound but last week was up 2 so technically I haven't lost any. Still up one pound from my low wieght of 186. I expect a loss next week. I will keep pluging along. I will be camping this time next week. Yeahhhhhh!!!!!
Deb.....My cows are still just babies. They will be a year old in April. We will not milk them but someday we may breed them and raise some for our consumption. These are pets basically and Sara would die if we slaughtered them. I have 2 pygmy goats on order for Feb. We will get them when they are 2 weeks old and we will have to bottle fed them....that way they will be tame.
I will post more later.....
I wanted to include this picture of my family....since Liz was posting her family....LOL. Adam is the oldest one....he wil 20 on the 20th. Noah will be 16 in Jan. and Sara is 10. We are at my hubbys nephews wedding.....isn't my hubby handsome???
Cya all later.

Yeah, yeah, it's me, I'm still here. I wanted to say hi and warn you all that I will be back on the board "fulltime" in January - once Halloween hits I basically hide my head under the covers and succumb to overload. Still basically OP, but not trying hard enough to lose. Hope to maintain.
Stress level is super super super super super high with everything I have going on, including kitchen renovation.:dizzy: The plane crash on Monday really set me back as I grew up in Queens and hung in the Rockaways at times. Enough already, right? :(
Ebay is still fun but it is becoing a bit of a chore - I had my first non-paying bidder and it was really annoying! I'll get my revenge with negative feedback ---- but why can't peoplke just grow up?
Currently feuding with the ILs again too - FIL's bday is coming up and they all picked a place that is 20 miles from SIL and BIL and .....111 miles from us! Hello!!! Seems we have NOTHING better to do than drive 4 hours while everyone else drives an hour~! :?: So we are currently dealing with stupid people as well.
I'm sure I've shared enough with you for this post....off to a skateboard park meeting, then home, then off to hockey, then to clean the house for the mediocre cleaning lady  ...oh at some point dinner will come into play.....

Finally, a loss!:D I'm down a pound from my lowest. I'm really trying to reach 150 or lower by Thanksgiving, so only half a pound to go!
Another bonus--I'm down another half inch in my hips!:)
I haven't even had time to lurk lately. Everything is great at home and at school, it's just an extremely busy time of year, as it is for everyone.
Hope to be able to stay in touch better soon.

Hey All!
Didn't get as much as I thought accomplished today in the "test kitchen." I made a batch of peanut chews, I guess that's what I'll call them-well, lets just say the house reeks and that batch went into the garbage! BUT, the second batch came out great and Eli, Lauren and Michael all gave it good reviews-of course, as usual, I've eaten a bit too much:^: I also made candy apples, they were not pretty, but did taste really good, at least I thought so. May try something else later on, just not sure what I'm inspired to screw up/make!
NASCAR, CONGRATS on the half-pound loss! Hope you have/had a good trip. That water DEFINITELY helps.
MEL, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I must commend you for getting out there and doing 3.5 miles even with feeling under the weather. I know how hard it is to push yourself outside when you feel like crap. Your muscles must be so fatigued, you could of done without the weights. Hope you get better soon-you need some Jewish Penicillin! Eli doesn't have any sinus problems, it's the lack of sleep, being over tired, working longer than needed hours AND his weight. All combined, it does him in. He just got his lab results back-his cholesterol is the highest ever, 294! The cue stick is a good idea, though I'm afraid instead of poking him with it I'd crack him over the head with it!!!
TV, I swear, you have such a talent! I love the poem you wrote for LDBLOND! You really could make some money, seriously. For Bar/Bay Mitvahs, for the candle lighting ceremony people pay others to write for them. There are people who do this on the web and locally. You REALLY should consider this!! I'm sure you'll be posting a loss next week-staying the same is sure not as bad as a gain!
LDBLOND, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Can't tell anyone enough times to have a HB! You've put many things into prespective on this day-makes you realize just how good life is, esp. to many others out there. I hope you have a nice dinner tonight-you deserve a good time at Outback. Enjoy yourself!!!
JMUIR, the holidays are a very hard time of year for everyone, I believe. Unfortunately, I see many people drop off the board right before Thanksgiving with some of them not returning. They get caught up in the holidays and after the 1st of the year find it hard to get back on track because their bodies are back on the sugar railroad to ****, or they've gained so much weight overeating, they are so upset they can't find the wagon again. I hope you don't abandon what you've already accomplished and learned, it's very easy to do so. You don't HAVE to fall victim to the holidays, this is a choice you make. I don't want to sound high and mighty, please don't get me wrong, but I just hate to see people undo all the good they've done over a months time, over food. I hope you will consider staying with us, even in a small capacity, over the holidays-will you think about it???
BUSDEB, I'm sure that other pound will slide right off of you;) Glad the pic worked out! Hmmm, I'd make those cows milkers, and not think about slaughtering them-sorta reminds me of BABE! Goats too! Oh my, you DO have a menagerie at your house! Besides the horse, any other animals coming to reside with you in the future? I could come visit the DEB'S PETTING ZOO!!!
VIV, always a pleasure to see your posts:) I have 2 neg feedbacks on Ebay, both retaliatories from non-payers-hate doing that and esp. having it done to me for no reason but being honest. I won't do anything with my Ebay stuff til after the New Year-then either I'm going to sell it, or start up again-all depends on how this new "job" progresses. Hope you win the war!!!
MUSIC, CONGRATS on your pound loss this week! You're coming into the home stretch now. You'll get to goal soon. Congrats on the
half-inch too.
CRICKET, I see you posted on the WIW board-hoping you'll post with us here as well. Enjoyed meeting you in the chat room last night-where did the SHASTA turn into CRICKET?? You never did say where near Ashville you were-closer to Hendersonville? Anyhow, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! We're glad you've joined us!!
Okay, I'm off to ponder what's next for me to make. I'll try to check in later, after AMAZING RACE!

Just a quickie before I go home....
Where is sef this week???
Mel - sorry you've been sickly. This is a bad time of year for those bugs... Justin told me that strep throat, the flu and a stomach bug all going around at school  I told him to definately not be drinking out of the water fountain!!!
Liz - Your boys and DH are all cuties. Looks like you are in a household like mine - mostly testosterone - lacking estrogen. I sometimes feel like a fish out of water being the only female in the house!!
Bus - LOVE THE PIC - Ya'll are a good lookin' group!!! You do have a very handsome DH and the little one (not so little, I know) is adorable. Sounds like you are building a farm. I just got word that my BIL, who lives between me and my Mom, bought 3 goats today! We had over 20 acres of Mom's land fenced in just a few months back and the plan is to get enough goats to keep it cleared off. My BIL bought 2 of those Great Paranise (spelling??) goat watching dogs last weekend at an auction. The female found her way out of the fence and we woke up Sunday morning watching him chase her down highway 72  . She was gone for the rest of the day, but showed back up on Monday! I'm surprised she didn't get run over! I've been teasing my Mom telling her that she has gone from a title of "Purchasing Manager" to "Goat farmer" in less than 6 months time!!
Deb - I have always loved writing stuff like that. How would I go about checking it out? Any idea? Anyway, thanks for the compliment!
My spirits have been better today than in a week or two, so I think I might be working out of this grim outlook. I looked in the mirror a little bit ago though and I have terrible dark circles under my eyes!!:( I look awful. My Mom had been telling me for the last few days that I looked really tired, but then again, when she sees me in the late evenings, I am tired - so I didn't think much of it - but now I can even tell by looking how obvious it has become, physically, that I've not been doing well. Oh well, just hope I'm on my way to recovery!!!
Gotta run - Ya'll have a good night!!

Hello all you "sweet" ladies..
Look what the cat dragged in.. Me! It has been such a long time since I have posted and it has been a long time since I have been good  !!
My face is "red" :o ...
I think I "passed out" around June in a sugar stupor and am just realizing now that I have to get back on the program. I could make up all kinds of excuses but the bottom line is.. it's up to me!
It will take a while to catch up.. been checking out the board for a couple of weeks and there are so many new faces and some that are missing in action..
Of couse the first thing that I'm going to do is ask for some help.. regarding Treadmills..
Have made up my mind to invest and have looked at the following:
Nordic Track (can't remember the model but it sells at Sears for around $799. on sale)
ProForm Model750
Reebock (a model that Oshmans has on sale for 799.)
One of the biggest hurdles.. besides paying for it, is trying to figure out where to put it.
I like the ifit.com feature on the above models..
The more expensive models are recommended but I think $800 is about my limit..
Does anyone have any feedback??
Last month my doctor said I really need to invest one hour a day, seven days a week or the weight is not going to move.. Oh the wonders of middle-age!
With a treadmill available 24/7, I will be at a loss for excuses..
Will post again soon..

hi everyone,
it was fun chatting last nite, can not wait until jan. to meet you guys in orlando. it should be a lot of fun, my friend susan may go also.
i weighed in first thing this morning in the pre-op room. I LOST ONE BIG POUND, honestly i am very happy as i had not lost any for the last few weeks. hopefully the plateau is starting to budge. i am still a little shy about posting my weight on the board but now have a total loss of 18lbs since i started sb. the weather is finally cooler here in central fl so it will be easier walking. my other friend kathy at work is doing the wdw marathon too, she said she would be my trainer! i need a lot of encouragement in that area.
no football this weekend, i am afraid i will go into withdrawal. we are going to orlando over thanksgiving weekend to see UCF last game of this season. no bowl game for them, they had a mediocre season.
well better go for now, i am on call tonite for the recovery room then off tomorrow. big plans to hit all the health food stores in the area looking for all the yummy things you all have been
talking about on the message board. i get all my fasting labs tomorrow too, my doc hopefully will be pleased.
bye for now from your friend,
chris
it is now almost 7 pm, i am on call for the recovery room tonite. i hope i don't get called.

Just a quickie to VR on treadmills:
Hi- I'm one of the new faces since you left. I have the ProForm Treadmill, and it's OK. It works just fine, but I hardly ever use it,for 2 reasons. 1) If it's nice out, (my definition of nice is no thunder and lightening or ice) I'd rather walk outside, and 2) I get a much better workout on my recumbent stationary bike. It is a Schwinn 230i and was about $1000 several years ago; they've probably come down in price, and I know there was a model with a few less electronic gadgets on it that was about $200 less. It has about 12 different programs from absolutely flat, intervals, mountains, 2 mountains, etc., and has 6 levels of difficulty within each of those programs. If you have any knee or hip problems, the bike is a much better investment. I get a drenching workout on it, or use it as a 10 minute warm-up before lifting weights. You can vary the workouts much more with the programmable bike than the treadmill. I would suggest looking into them also if you are going to spend that much money.
If you decide on a tm, steer clear of the NordicTrak brand. It has gotten pretty bad reviews on various web sites and Consumer Reports.
hope this helps and good luck-
mel

Went to the gym tonight to run on the treadmill (Personal commentary: YUCK!). I really rather run outdoors, even in the rain and cold, than on the treadmill. But I managed to get the 4 miles in like a good girl who has to go 26.2 in less than 2 months!!
Ok, now the WIW report front... I am happy to report after WEEKS of gaining, that I am down a 1/2 pound! YAHOOO!!! :spin: Let's just hope this the start of something good! Real Good! This week I have a 10 mile run on Saturday, a welcome relief after the 15 miles this past weekend. But lookout, the weekend after Thanksgiving I have to do a gut-wrenching 20! I better continue to see the scale dipping.
Update on the Rx: Tonight I start cutting the 25 mgs in 1/2 and do that for a week and then I'm done with them. Doc's office called Monday and the nurse reported that he wanted me to continue to take the 25 mgs. NO WAY!!! I can already see big changes in the bathroom :D and I have noticed that the 1/2 to a gallon of water I drink a day is getting properly processed and I've quit retaining it.
Will have more time to post and "talk" to everyone on Thursday or Friday. Hope everyone is doing well.
Peace,
FROG

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:
Just got back from doing my walk/jog. Honestly, I had not a whole lot of desire to go, but after all that I ate yesterday (will explain in a moment), I felt I better get out of the house and go. I actually tied my second best time of 48:10, which surprised me considering how tired I felt, and of course my lack of motivation when I started.
Yesterday, OMG, did I eat. It was all SB LEGAL, but waaay to much food and calories. I made some PEANUT CHEWS that got rave reviews from all who's tried it-I think Eli & I tied for who ate the most-they are soooo good, and I couldn't stop. I must of eaten the equivalent of about 3/4 cup peanuts. THEN, I made 2 candy apples, for the kids to try-well of course, I took a bite first of Michael's, and then scrarfed it down. When Lauren came home, she took a bite of hers and I was apologizing later for eating the rest of hers after she left the room (she only had 1 bite). I was in a feeding frenzy. It kept going and going and going all day long, I ate and ate and ate. So, even though what I ate was all SB LEGAL, consuming probably more than 100 grams of fat and most certainly well over 2500 calories, not to mention too many carbs, I am vowing to do better today-I can't afford to do this. The scale is back up again today, 124, 4lbs above my lowest, and yet, even though I'm still within my 5lb cushion, I don't like that I'm so close to 125. Not only that, as I layed in bed last night I swear I could feel my skin stretching! And today, I vow to do better with my water, I was very lax with it yesterday and I feel it when I don't drink enough.
TV, I'll have to e-mail SEF and put a APB out for her is she doesn't materialize today. Surely (get it SHIRLEY) she's probably doing way too much and has tuckered herself out. I would tend to think that you could first try finding a place in your area that sells invitations and see if you could get some referrals from them, show them some general work. Not sure just how many Jewish families are in your area, but I'm sure not only Jewish people do things like this. BUT, you could do a website, that's how I discovered that people do this. Here's one site from an individual: http://users.erols.com/lfellman/ ALSO, you can advertise on a site that's very useful that I got much information from was PARTY411 and one I just found is http://www.partypop.com/ You have a great talent, I'd love to see you use it to bring more joy to others;) I hope you feel better soon!!
VR, WELCOME HOME! Glad to see your post and to have you back with us. It's been since MAY since you were with us. Too long to be away!!!;) What's transpired with you since you were on the board last. I hope you don't mind me asking...can you tell us why you left. I don't mean to be so personal and you can tell me to MYOB, but I feel like those who leave and then come back may have a life experience or two that can help those of us who are having a hard time, just starting out, etc. I know you had a tough time with getting your Mother's affairs in order with the house and all and possibly this was one of your reasons? Were you able to keep any of the weight off that you had previously lost? Whatever the case, we're glad to have you back. Yes, there are old faces and some new, but the board is as wonderful as ever and you'll feel right back at home. As for the treadmills, I'm not one to ask, I gave mine away, would rather walk outside, which I know is not an option for everyone, esp those who live in the North. I'm sure the gals on the board, like MEL, can give you some good info. Have you thought of trying to find a good used one-most people buy them and then use them as clothing racks and they are like new, see them at garage sales all the time.
BIGK, CONGRATS ON YOUR 1LB LOSS!! That's great-more to follow, I'm sure! I too am looking forward to meeting YOU, SOL & FROG and whoever else comes along-it will surely be a great weekend. Glad to hear you'll have someone to motivate you to get out and walk-who knows, maybe next year you'll be doing the WDW Marathon WITH Kathy!!! Find any goodies at the HFS in your area??
FROG, CONGRATS on being down a 1/2 pound. I'm sure this is just the start of it-I'm surely crossing my fingers for you in hope that the weight will start falling off fast after you're totally weaned off the meds. I feel the same about TM's as you do-YUCK! Only days that it's storming outside do I want one, but luckily, this past year, I've only found that to be a couple times.
RHROO, not even lurking, scale is up-do I have to really come up there and smack you one, or two? You were so close to goal! Oye, what AM I going to do with you, girl! I've been waiting for you to join me in "pit row" for a while now!!! Okay, so it's not a race, but a journey-but aren't you getting tired of the journey and want to finally finnish the race???:D
Kids have early release today, so I'm going to get some things done around the house, like my stinky walking clothes that must get in the wash:eek: I have a couple recipes to lament over and need to get this wrapped up for Avis by tomorrow. I should have a chance to get on a couple recipes today, being that is is RECIPE DAY! I've been lax with getting some one, just haven't had the time.
I'll check in with you all later!
Have a great day!

Well I am happy to report I was down 1/2 lb this morning, leaving me just 1/2 away from my lowest of 146.... Got it goin in the right direction now!!
Not much to report here except for DH has something wrong with his neck! He went to the doc and got some MEGA pain killers and muscle relaxers and a steroid pack!! He was :dizzy: loopy last night. I caught him catching flies in a cup and drowning them - he said they made too much of a splattering mess if he killed them the normal way - I said to myself "those drugs he's on must be really good ones"! He had 7-8 dead flies in the sink!!! I don't know what the deal is with the flies around here, but they are big and slow and EVERYWHERE!!! The ladybugs are just as bad - Must be something to do with the unseasonably nice weather we are having here in AL!
Hope everyone is well - I'll respond more directly later - gotta run to the dentist right now!

TREADMILLS - some more info, I have a Proform 585QS. I like it, except for the noise. I don't think they make much quieter ones though. There's a website called <www.TreadmillDoctor.com> that's pretty good. I looked at it a lot before I bought one.

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post before I hit the hay. Sorry, wasn't able to get on the recipes-I promise, I swear, I'll get them done before the end of the weekend!!!;)
Seems like the "flood gates" are opening. I'm hoping for a loss in light of this tomorrow. Only 4 small peanut chews,1 ounce total today-they're gone now, but I have to make another batch to get it just right. I've written down every stinkin morsel that's passed my lips today-so far, so good! Just can't figure out the salad Eli made as far as cal, carbs, etc goes, but it can't be all that bad, nothing but veggies, toasted pita, olive oil and other things that have no caloric effect.
Here's the link for the NOVEMBER 2000 RECIPE BOARD. The board does have some THANKSGIVING APPROPRIATE RECIPES on it, so you may want to check it out:
I'll check in with you all tomorrow after my walk-have to get it in since I'm off on Saturday, whether I like it or not!!
Nite!

Hi, another quick post, after another exhausting day at work. I always thought that there was a limit to the amount of work you can do, but I am realizing that wehn you don't want to tell a Doctor no, then you are going to work your a-- off. ANd the one that that doesn't want to tell the Doctor no is the boss. Anyway now we have to get ready for another day tomorrow.
Things are going ok weight wise, things are very slow to get lost, but I am not giving up. Just got to try harder. Sometimes I think I am going to need quit work so i can exercise three or four hours a day, then maybe the scale would move. (but this isn't a reality, is it)
I am never very good with each individual post, but I do wish you all a great day tomorrow. Just make good choices, and the rest will fall in place.

HiHo all!!
Sorry I have been AWOL, thanks for missing me Deb, but I have a good excuse I think.
Ever since Sunday I have been in the hospital. Got out yesterday afternoon.
I was in choir and on the way to choir room after service I felt weak and kightheaded, pain in chest, left shoulder, numbness in left hand.
O course, it caused quite a todo and a retired nurse in choir insisted I get to hospital, so she and another friend took me to ER while another called family. Poor Ashley took call, said her Mom would meet me there and that she would go get her Father who was somewhere loading firewood in th truck. She was very calm.
The usual ER stuff and I was admitted for observation and tests.
Good news it is not my heart nor my lungs. Gastro things can mimic heart attack. I have erosion of the stomach and esophagus, caused probably by years of prescription strength (600-800 mgs) three times a day. When I had complained of stomach upset the doctor switched me to Naprosyn. When I moved here I told new doctor I had stomach upset from pills and he switched me to Arthrotec, then Vioxx (Insurance company/pharmeceutical call) and when that didn't work back to Arthrotec and then Celebrex (another ins call).
They gave me a copy of my stomach from the EGD in living color....not a pretty sight with all those spots!!! Also have a sphincter in the esophagus that is narrowing that will cause difficulty swallowing, something I have ocassionally already.
I guess part of this is my own fault. When I was asked certain questions I would give negative answers. Then when I would tell ds and dil what happened when they weren't there they would say,"Mom you get SOB, Mom you burp a lot, etc." I hate to complain and would not listen to my body I would groan about arthritis when it was bad or about feet.
The pain in the left shoulder is from a pulled muscle in the chest wall. Now that it has been brought to my attention I realize that I have had twinges in my chest, my stomach has noises and I am gassy. So from now on I will try to pay attention to the aches and pains but not complain about them. My theory was you have to expect aches and paions as you get older.
For a while I was a nonentity as far as food was concerned, In four days I had four meals and none were SB friendly. By the third night I ate whatever was on tray, dixie cups of chocolate pudding, lemon ice, ice cream, jello, yogurt and bouillion. I am ashamed to say I ate every bit! The other meals I picked at...I just ate the chicken and broccoli, ww toast, milk, scrambled egg, and on the first one only the beefy looking thing and some carrots and mashed potatoes. When they would not have a tray for me it was because the computer kicked me out. It also did it with meds. To do an IV it took two nurses and six sticks!
Bless my ds, he was supposed to go to Fort Worth for a week on Monday but cancelled because of me. We were in constant touch with dd in Md.
I tried to catch up on Board but it is just too much. Have to rest a few days. I am on $88.36 worth of Protonix. It better help!!
Take care. sef

Hi everyone
Sorry I missed WIW. I had worked Tuesday evening and then went in Wednesday morning and was pooped by the evening, after coming home, getting supper then out to badminton. Consequently I slept in late this morning. Anyway I am still hovering around 195-196. I think I am going to be stuck here forever. Maybe I should just forget about losing and concentrate on maintaining and see what happens. As long as I don't gain. Can't afford to gain any as I have recently bought new pants, a long skirt and a couple of tops. Couldn't hold off any longer as I have a couple of do's to go to in the next few weeks. Had a good day to-day. Went out this evening with a friend to an Indian restaurant. Had curried chicken, beef, lentils, cauliflower and basmati rice. Started off with some deep fried veggie balls. I don't know what else was in them but they were delicious. That and a small piece of paratha were the only things that were not SB legal.
Tree - Thanks for posting the chana dal recipes. The one with the ginger sounds yummy. The second recipe you posted seems to have quite a lot of coconut for the amount of chana dal. When you say 1 cup of coconut do you mean 1 cup of shredded? I like to use the moong dal occasionally. I find it's good if I am in a hurry as it cooks much faster than the chana dal.
Deb - I had to smile at your feeding frenzy - even scoffing the kids candy apples. I know the feeling though - thank heavens it doesn't happen too often. Yesterday I felt like eating a piece of a whole wheat bun that I had bought the day before for ds but it was still sitting on the table when I got home. I started off with a small piece but of course finished the whole thing. Then went and ate four wholemeal cookies. This was about ten minutes before supper.
Frog - Congrats on your WIW report. I am sure that 1/2 pound loss is the start of better things to come.
Viv - Hi. Glad to see you posting again. How's your Dad doing?
Rhroo - You just get your *** back on that wagon. You have come too far to ruin it all. I've missed your posts. How are the kiddies doing? Are they still playing soccer?
Tv - Glad to see you are losing again. Hope the meds are working and you are beginning to feel better.
Sef - You had us all worried wondering where you were. Some of those pain medications and NSAID's can really play havoc with the body. Celebrex is supposed to be better for the stomach than some of the older meds. Just take care now and get rested up before getting back to all your activities. Hope you are beginning to feel better.
Welcome to the NEWBIES and the OLDIES who have returned to the fold.
Well I had better finish here and get ready to hit the sack. After getting up so late this morning I am not too sleepy but I may get a call to go to work in the morning so I had better try and get some shut-eye.
Nite.
Marie.

Deb i need some kicks in the butt! Some of the problem comes with our financial situation right now-this woe can cost alittle more, which i am worth! But i can't justify it right now with the holidays comming and bills piling up (ya don't want to hear me whine about money!) Everyone here is healthy and got great report cards so i should be happy about that. I don't know if i told you all about my back hurting and not excersising like i should have for about a week and a half. Trying to get back where i was last week i got in 5 days this week today will make it 4 and i don't know if this big butt will be out tomorrow but its my walking day and that will be easier to do than my weights.
Rosalie! I think one cheek is on the wagon-really! the scale yesterday said 143 and i have been chugging the water! The kids are great-soccer is over yeah!! after turkey day basketball will start! sooooo every season there is another sport!! My oldest is going to his first High school banquet for soccer-i have to work and can't go :frowney: He did well and next year i know he will be stronger as a player-he is not the best but a consitant player.
Gotta goooooooo Viv i will get around to emailing you girl!!! Hope your feeling better today! We still have halloween candy kicking around here! My five (almost 6 in 4 days ) year old won't share but won't eat! I should just throw a few a day out with out her knowing! lol
Really going now to work the bod! I WILL BE LURKING SO SAY HI! LOL

Morning everyone!
Just wanted to post quickly and say hello! No great news to report today. I'll be at the race sunday so I'll wave to ya! I'll be at the start/finish line section!!:D I do hope Bobby does well Sunday! He's had such a bad luck year! He usually does well at Atlanta so I'll be there cheering him on! Can someone tell me where I can find this aguava syrup you are talking about? Everyone have a great turkey day!

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:
Got in my 4.5 miles, only walked, no jogging, wasn't in the mood. BUT, I am happy that the scale HAS taken a downward turn again!:D I lost 2lbs since yesterday, but still up 2 from my lowest. Trust me, it was ALL water weight! Hoping that the usual trend of the scale going down after mid-cycle continues until I'm back at my low.
It's FRIDAY FACTS and I thought this was interesting enough to post. I always like to get salmon when I go to Outback, and always have a hard time trying to come up with a caloric count for my food journal. I found the chart below and as you can see, there's big differences between the varieties of salmon-I'll be asking what type salmon is being served from now on;) Sorry, I couldn't get the numbers to line up, no matter what I tried!
NOTE:Nutritional value for salmon will vary 1-2% in protein and fat content from these average values, depending on the maturity of the fish.
THUNDER, go to the NOVEMBER 2000 RECIPE BOARD, I have a recipe there for cranberry sauce that I made last year for TG and will probably make again this year.
LAMAP, you were doing really good when you had your watch as an incentive-did you choose something else for the next milestone to work for-maybe that incentive is just what you need to jump-start yourself again with renewed energy. OR, things could be slow just because your bodies making adjustments. As for exercise, whatever you can do is better than nothing, I only walk for an hour a day-if it required any more of me, I wouldn't do it, not for lack of time, but for lack of desire.
SEF, thank that lady for me for insiting you go to the ER. I'm sure without her, you wouldn't of gone and who knows, it could of been something really serious, because what you described sounded serious! Thank goodness you are okay-see, you try to do too much and I guess this is a way your body is telling you so. Anyone who asks you to do any heavy duty stuff, give me their number, I'll have a thing or two to say to them! But again, thank goodness it wasn't something more serious, but this stomach condition sounds bad enough. What's with this difficulty swallowing stuff-is it something that may worsen over time? Please, do take care of yourself, I worry about you! Let us know how you are progressing, we really do care!!! Now, get off the computer and go get some rest!;)
ROSALIE, I highly doubt you'll be stuck at that weight forever, I'm sure it's going to go down. What I find interesting is keeping a weight chart. Not only do I have one on the WC program I have, but I have one on graph paper and I can see how my weight fluctuates, but then see trends as well. I'm certain with you persistance and dedication, the scale will go into the 180's sooner than you think. Oh, I was a sight with the eating the other day-I swear, I didn't even realize how fast I ate those apples until I was down to the essence of the core. It was scarey!:s:
RHROO, hope you got my e-mail;)
NASCAR, hope your man does well at the race. Will you be taking a sigh this weekend so we can see you??? For the agave, have you checked your HFS in your area? If not, you can find it on the web. I can send you some samples if you'd like, just to see if you like it-you can e-mail me your snail mail addy if you want.
FROG, did you get my envelope yet???
Gotta run, time to take Lauren to school. I'll check in later. Have a great weekend.

Just a quickie, as I should have showered and been ready so I can wake up the kids at this very moment...but, I was trying to catch up with all of you! Forgive me for not responding to everyone....
VR - Welcome Back!
Rhonda - Girl, I know exactly what you are going through! I'm determined never to increase up past my current size, the pants are cutting in, but there's no way in h!!! that I'm buying a larger size. Instead, yesterday I purchased Walk Away the Pounds. When it gets here...seems like it will be forever....I will implement an exercise plan as this has been where I've failed myself the most, that and giving in to hi-carb/sugar foods when I'm stressed. We'll work together!
TV - You are soooo totally creative, thanks for the Birthday poem!
Sef - Sorry you are under the weather, hope your feeling better.
By the way, I noticed others feeling yucky too...feel better!
I have to run, maintaining but the Weight Commander says I'm gaining? If anyone has this program, please advise.

Hey everybody. Have a million things to do this morning, including a 4 miler, This'll have to be quick.
Felling better, less bloated. Have an unbelievably painful hemroid (sp?) since yesterday. Not always uncommon with running longer distances due to the friction (if ya know what I mean  ) combined with the months of being constipated! Hope it goes away real soon!
Speaking of pains in the butt, I was glad that Survivor ended the way it did the past 2 weeks! Like the "older" players and hope they do well.
Have to tell y'all about something YUMMY that I had for dinner last night that was sooo good and FAST!!! It is Classico Creations Basil Pesto sauce and spread. I cooked some WW fettucine. In another pan I toasted some pine nuts in olive oil, then added the pesto to heat it up, once the noodles were done I tossed them together. MAGNIFICO!!!! Good thing to have on hand when you have unexpected guests!
Quick posts to those I can't miss!
BLOND Happy Belated Birthday
SEF - Glad to hear that you are doing ok. I'm sure that must have been quite a scare for all! I took Protonix last year to get my acid reflux under control. It is a ood medicine that I didn;t notice any adverse side effects from. Hope you're back to yourself soon!
DEB - no packet yet! Hope the letter carrier didn't mistake it for Anthrax! Hopefully it will come today. I'll let you know as soon as it does. The Amish store was out of my pancake mix. Am gonna check the HFS today. I did buy some "WW" pancake mix that I noticed has some corn flour in it. Will post the ingredients for it another time.
BOB - It's great to see you back on the board! Hope you're feeling better soon!
SOL - We changed our reservations a little bit for the race. We will still be at the Courtyard at Downtown Disney Fri-Mon, then we are changing to the Marriott Grand Vista for the remainder of the stay. Got a 4 nite stay for $199. Have to listen to a presentation about Marriott vacation club, but worth it for the 5-star experience! Hope this doesn't interfere with your plans! I'm getting excited about meeting all of you!
Need to go! Gotta run, literally!
Peace,
FROG

I've just read an article on the Sweetalk Board about carrots which I think is worth sharing with you all. Also appropriate for FRIDAY FACTS. The article is from Rick Mendosa's Diabetic Newsletter of May, 2001. http://www.mendosa.com/diabetes_update_14.htm
Eat Your Carrots!
For fully 20 years we have had questions about whether to eat carrots or not. The first journal article ever published on the glycemic index indicated that we quickly digest the carbohydrates in carrots. That study that showed the GI of carrots at 92 (where glucose = 100). A later study that got much less attention showed the GI of carrots to be 49.
Originally, I included both studies as the basis for the average number I report on my GI Lists <http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm> page. I based that on the first Australian edition of The G.I. Factor, which did the same thing.
Subsequently, Dr. Jennie Brand-Miller, the lead author of that book, now published in the U.S. as The Glucose Revolution, determined that the first study was fatally flawed (as she wrote me) and threw it out of her tables. I followed suit.
A week ago Dr. Brand-Miller wrote Dr. Thomas Wolever, Canada's top GI researcher, with the results of a new study. She sent a copy of the message to me, as follows:
I have just received the results of 10 foods tested by one of my students. I got her to test carrots and also carrot juice. To ensure we fed exactly a 25 g carbohydrate portion, we had the carbohydrate assayed directly by the University of NSW, Department of Food Science and Technology.
Anyway, the good news is that the carrots had a GI of 39 ± 7 and the carrot juice 45 ± 4.
I just had a look at your original 1981 paper and I note the old value of 92 for carrots was based on only 5 subjects (we tested 10) and had a SEM [the standard error of the mean]of 20, about 2-3 times that of all the other foods tested in that paper.
I think we need to put to rest once and for all the idea that carrots have a high GI. A letter to Nature perhaps???
My response noted that Michel Montignac's book Eat Yourself Slim on pages 67-68 claims that it is cooked carrots that have a high glycemic index.
Dr. Brand-Miller's reply was succinct and to the point:
The carrots were cooked, the juice raw.
These numbers mean that everybody-even those following the Sugar Busters! diet-should now feel comfortable eating carrots or drinking carrot juice.

Turned in 4 miles in 45:49, averaging jright at 11.5 minute miles on my run 5, walk 1 program! Not too bad. Hope to keep improving that pace as training continues to progress.
Here's my contribution to the Friday Facts File. This comes from the book "All About Eve, The complete guide to women's health and well being" by Tracy Chutorian Semler.
How to Lose and Maintain Weight Properly: Tips on Healthy Deiting"
1. Lose weight gradually, no more than a pound or two at most per week.
2. Exercise as often as possible, at least a few times a week. Get up and move your body.
3. Choose a diet that allows you to eat your own foods. Eat some foods that are what you normally purchase, rather than one that includes premade or preassembled foods.
4. Don't say "I'm going on a diet." Say that you are going to change your habits.
5. Keep all nutrients and food groups balanced. Any diet that pushes you to eat mostly from a single food group is inappropriate.
6. Limit or eliminate empty calories. Simple sugars, alcohol, excessive gats add nothing to your overall health and well being and take up a good portion of your daily calorie allotment.
7. Stay in touch with your doctor. Let your doctor reassess your health as you lose or gain.
8. Eat enough calories. Don't starve yourself.
9. Eat slowly and chew well. Put your fork down between bites.
10. Balance your senses. Since women's triggers to weight gain are usually sight and smell, they need to tantalize other senses in order to offset those triggers. Listen to music, take a walk and do other stimulating things that have nothing to do with food.
11. Drink lots of fluid while restricting calories, ideally water.
12. Choose a behaviorally oriented weight-loss program. Be aware of behaviors that trigger overeating, such as stress or anxirty, etc.
13. Have nonfat snacks at your fingertips.
14. Don't skip meals.
15. Have realistic weight loss goals.
ROSALIE - Thanks for your interesting comments on carrots. I too will eat more of them I think.

Hey All:wave:
Been busy in the "test kitchen" until Mom came over. Made 3 recipes, thus far. One is wonderful a SWEET & TANGY BBQ SAUCE, the other one I wasn't crazy about, a CHEWY GRANOLA BAR that I found less than chewy and seemed to be missing "something." I don't think I will submit it to Avis, and the last, a APPLE COBBLER that just came out of the oven, looks good, but tasting is what counts-just tasted it, IT'S MISSING SOMETHING and I can't figure out what-so it's a no-go! Going back in a few minutes to whip something else up, probably a muffin of some kind. My Mom tried the SWEET PEANUT CLUSTERS (renamed) that I made the other day-so that's one EVERYONE liked!
LDBLOND, what's WALK AWAY THE POUNDS? As for the WC PROGRAM, it will say that you are gaining even tough you are maintaning when it sees a trend. I never go by it, it's nothing important unless you continually see the message time and time again, then it does mean you're going up, up and away!!!
FROG, did I miss anything on SURVIVOR. We watched POP STARS instead-hate when there's more than 1 thing I want to watch at the same time. Hope your butt is feeling better:^: WONDERFUL NEWS about the pants-it won't be long before they're baggy on you! LOVED the FRIDAY FACTS you posted-good, solid and sound advice!
ROSALIE, thank you for posting that information-it's interesting and something to think about. I'm not a big carrot lover, and I rather prefer cold, crispy ones over cooked ones anyhow-but having the possibility to make a carrot cake, well, that's good news!!!
Okay, back to the grindstone!!!

Deb - I hope this isn't too dumb a question but I was wondering what was meant by 'cooked bulgur' in the recipe you posted to-day. I buy my bulgur in a bulk food store and it states on the label that bulgur is cracked wheat that has been cooked (boiled I think). I was wondering if this would be the way to use it in the recipe or should it be soaked first like when you make tabouli. Thanks for the nutritioinal info on pumpkin. I had a piece of pumpkin loaf at work the other day and it was delish. I'm hoping to get a copy of the recipe so I can try it out.
Tree - I made your chana dal recipe to-day (one you posted yesterday) and it was yummy. I didn't have any garlic so fried up an onion instead. That was a good idea to put in pieces of fresh ginger - much better than the powdered stuff. I'll have to remember that for other recipes.
Frog - Way to go on the size 10 Levi's. Thanks for posting the excellent "Tips for Healthy Dieting." All good advice.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Hello all (newbies and regulars)!
I haven't been too talkative lately. I have some work worries going on right now. Hopefully things will get better. And the cough I got in Florida came back! DH is sick too. It's hard to stay healthy when you're stressed out for long periods of time! I'm dosing up on the stress vitamins, and drinking Emergen-C (vit and mineral powdered drink). I can't wait till things calm down. :(
Rosalie - re: When you say 1 cup of coconut do you mean 1 cup of shredded?
Oops, I did use shredded coconut. When I made it I only had sweetened coconut. So I soaked it in water, then rinsed it several times in a colander, then nuked it to get rid of the excess water. The things we do to make recipes SB legal! I've been wondering about the other 'dals' out there. Does the moong taste the same as chana?
Here's the site I found most of the dal recipes --<http://www.bawarchi.com/contribution/daal.html>
I had an excellent dish at a place called Pita Jungle in Chandler. It had lentils, tuna, garlic, lemon juice, tomatoes, onions, all on top of lettuce, and sprinkled with feta cheese. Probably some other seasonings, but I couldn't figure those out. I'm not usually a lentil fan (too mushy) but this was really, really good! :D
Sef - Please take care of yourself. I'm surprised the SB diet hasn't helped with your reflux and all. I notice that I take antacids for really greasy foods more than spicy foods. Is your reflux stress-related?
Ldblond - oh thank you. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one not exercising. The rest of you put me to shame. I have yet to reach my 3x/week on the treadmill exercise plan. :p
Ok, I'm a little confused. :?:
Why are we allowed to eat rye and sourdough? They're usually composed of white flour or a mix of flours right?
If TJ's, Barilla, and Sugarbuster's brand are ok pastas, are all 100% durum or semolina pasta ok? What about an enriched macaroni product that is still 100% durum or semolina pasta ? :dizzy:

Tree - Hope things settle down for you soon. Thanks for posting the website for the dal recipes. I have seen that one before but haven't checked it out lately. I like to make curry and when I am in an ambitious mood I go through quite a few of the Indian websites. Most of my chana dal recipes I got from Rick Mendosa's site. He has a web page just for chana dal: http://www.mendosa.com/chanadal.html. Have you tried the chana dal with pita bread? There's a recipe on the October board which I copied from Mendosa's site. I cook and drain the chana then put in pan with a little oil and some veggies and herbs and have it on pita bread with salad and a sprinkling of cheese. Yum.
Moong dal is a lot different to chana dal. It is a very small yellow split pea and it does go mushy when it is cooked. You can also buy the whole pea. The ones I have seen are green in color but I think there are different varieties. I tried a recipe once with the whole pea but didn't like it.
Sourdough bread is usually made with white flour and rye usually a mixture. The reason they are allowed is because the gi is quite low due to acidity. Any pasta made with durum semolina is o.k. although whole wheat is preferred. If you check out the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD there are articles on both sourdough bread and pasta. The article on PASTA, taken from Michel Montignac's book, was posted by Debbie in Nov/2000. I posted the article on SOURDOUGH BREAD and acidity of foods in Jan/2001. This article is taken from The Glucose Revolution.

Man have I had a busy end to my week. I went Thursday morning to look at another horse that I found on the internet. Well guess what I feel in love when I got there. I know what you all are saying .....I fall in love too easy. But she is most gentle horse I have ever been around. We call her Dixie and I hope to include a pic of her soon. The one I have is too big to post. DD and I go to a stable today for some brush up riding lessons for me and new lessons for her. It should be such fun. I have already ridden Dixie and she is smooth ride. She is 5 yrs old and anyone can ride so come one come all and I will saddle her and let you go.
I have had a cold and sore throat for two days now. I am hoping to get it under control before we leave for camping next week. Yes we are camping for Thanksgiving. Very untraditional I know but hey that is us. Drives my MIL crazy .....one reason I like it so much. LOL I am bad sorry!!!! We will be eating holiday lunch at the lodge in the park so I will try to stay as close to legal as possible. I know they have a wonderful salad bar.
I have to clean house clean or bulldoze is more like it so I must run.
Hello to all....I will post more later hopefully.

Good Saturday Morning
I'm trying to get hydrated for my 10 miler today. Thought I would respond to y'all while I drink my H2O.
The problem with the booty is remarkably better. Hope that I don't have THAT problem again any time soon. :o
I keep saying that I should write a book called "The Girlfriend's Guide to the Marathon" because we (women) have problems that no one wants to put in print, but I surely would! For instance, that on longer runs (defined as ~15 miles and up), your pubic hair may get tied in knots, therefore a "haircut" may be necessary. As you can see this is a sensitive subject, but woulnd't you like to know this? Trust me, there are far more things that female runners put up with. Like running on your period vs. when you are ovulating. The run during your period will be "easier" than when you are ovulating. The increase in body temp will cause you to perceive that your effort is greater. That fact is not an original, but I have certainly noticed it over the past 2 marathons' training years. My other female runner friends have noticed it too.
Would like to continue with some craft projects that I have been working on. I've been etching patterns on glass, sooo easy and would like to come up with an idea for some white placemats I have. Want to stamp or paint or sew. Something. Any ideas?
Went to get my haircut yesterday and my hair stylist offered to brighten up the color from my last visit because it had faded. SHe didn't charge me for it. It is a bit too red this morning. But I know that it will fade pretty rapidly.
DEB - No package from you yet. I didn't know it when I typed it yesterday, but we did have Anthrax detected in the Raleigh mail center. I don't know how long ago that happened, but perhaps this is the source of the hold up? I'm not sure if they are just now releasing this info or if it just happened. How is your running going? I LOVE that you have found that sometimes it's easier to keep running than to stop and walk. That may lead to more running! :D Did you ever hear from the agave syrup people? Did I miss something in a post? That would be so like me to do that too. Your recipes sounded great! Lindsay was voted off on Survivor. The young punks are going down! They did cast some votes for Tom, the goat farmer, but it was a deadlock and since Lindsay had the most (total from all councils) votes against her, she had to go.
TREE - Hope your worries end soon.
BUSDEB - Horses! I  them. Dixie is my dogs name! Love the smell of the stable, sweet hay, manure, sweaty saddle leather, horse fur. Mmmm. :D Things that only true horse lovers can admire. I miss the barn and riding. Need to find the money and time for lessons (English) again. Hope you had fun at your lessons. Send pics!
RHROO - Hey! Nice to see you back on the board!
Well, time to get my running togs on and get my mindset in place. This one want be so bad, it's next week I'm already dreading! Wish me luck!
More later!
Peace,

Back from run. Time to eat and hop in the shower. Gonna run to Wal-Mart for a few items.
Did 10 miles in 2:10, that's about a 13 minute mile pace. A little slower than my pace last Saturday (12.73 minute miles average) but I'm not all that surprised. Ovulation and new orthotics today could be at play. I've noticed that first 3-4 miles are some of the hardest. Don't think I'm stretching effectively. Time to get back into Yoga!
Hope all have a great day.
Later,
Peace,
Frog
P.S. DEB - no package today. Did you send it U.S. Mail or UPS?

Another beautiful, dry sunny day here. Went for a five mile run, time was good, but every muscle is screaming from adding more weight and different lifts on Thursday night. Just finished raking the backyard for my cooldown, now it's time to pass out for the rest of the day.
Frog- I've noticed a lot of those female running problems even doing shorter runs. Even tried running without underwear a couple of times thinking that was part of the problem, but it was just as bad, except no elastic twist-ups:o I always thought how embarassed I'd be if something happened to me:D Then there's the hydration problem- too much, and you're knocking on doors asking to visit the pottie or looking for a patch of really thick woods!
Tree- Hope things get better soon, and your cold. No fun starting the holidays that way.:(
BusDeb- Another horse!?!?! Are you starting a dude ranch? You must really love those animals or have really helpful kids. I can't imagine the time it takes to take care of all those extra critters. What do you do when you go off camping? I can see taking the dogs, but the horses are a bit of a stretch:lol:
Deb- Can you post the Sweet Peanut Clusters or do we need to go buy a new bottle of agave nectar to get the recipe? They sound really good. I could use a legal treat right about now.
TV- How are you doing? Are things getting better?
OK- now for the piss and moan. I'm gaining weight! I eat about 1300-1400 calories/day, never more than 2 starchy carbs, red wine maybe 2X per week and exercise like crazy. I've not gone off plan since the chinese food experience at the end of October! I just can't understand it, and am so annoyed every morning when I weigh myself. I drink so much water that I'm in danger of drowning internally. I think i'm doing everything right, but the scale says NO! Any suggestions?

Hey all! This has been one busy week. I've just spent some time trying to catch up on the board. I took my 3rd graders to UIL competition Tuesday and have been practicing with several groups for Christmas programs, so I've been pretty stressed and busy. :dizzy:
Dennis and the two older ones went to a trades day to try and sell some junk, I mean treasures:s: , with his brother. Maggie and I went over and met them for lunch. We ended up eating burgers AND onion rings and now I feel like I'm in a fog. The times that I have cheated and had sweets didn't effect me like this. I think the bready stuff bothers me more.:?:
Hope everyone has a great weekend-what's left of it. Hope to be able to keep up with everyone better next week.

Hey All:wave:
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend thus far. Garage sale day wasn't too bad, Michael did really well. He lost his graphing calculator he needs for school (paid $98 for the darn thing) and asked for a new one for Chanukah-I found a model down from the one he needed, does most everything the other one does and will be functional for him 90% of the time (other times, he'll have to borrow someone elses), anyhow, that was a STEAL for $1. Works beautifully. He also got a weight bar with the weights you can add on for $5 and a RCA REMOTE HEADPHONES so he can listen to his music and not bother with the cord for $3. I bought a FULL SIZE AEROBED, needs a new cap to keep the air in and have to patch a small hole, but for $1, I took the risk and bought it. Got my sister a brand new diaper bag for baby #5 for $1 (still has tags on it) and 93 diapers for $2. A few other odds and ends, but not much. There were so many out there today, didn't have time (or the desire after a while) to go to them all.
I was happy to see the scale down ANOTHER pound to 121 this morning-so only up 1lb from my low of 120. I felt barfy and tired last night and hit the hay before 10pm (but woke up very early due to sleeping too much, which I hate). I knew the scale would be good, usually is when I feel like that. Hoping for more good news tomorrow-guess we'll wait and see.
I sent the gal from the agave company 2 letters. Since she too is on AOL I am able to see that they were indeed read and when, but no response to either of them yet. She told me they had a deadline and I was ready to send all 4 recipes to her and asked her to let me know and no response, so of course, I'm wondering what the heck is going on. I'm going to wait and if I don't hear from her by Tues, I'll ask her if she's still interested. Easy come, easy go!
Tomorrow is my Grandfather's b.day party, he turned 85. Not sure what my Grandmother is serving, as long as she doens't make the food, we'll be fine. Personally, I'm hoping Eli and I will get to hit Ole Ole before we go there and eat some decent food. PLUS, they called me from the Carbolite place to tell me they have COCONUT CARBOLITE, so I'm hoping to get there (it's an hour drive-I know, I'm nuts!). Kids are going to the DOLPHINS vs JETS game tomorro with their Dad and will meet us later at the party, so we will have the majority of the day free, at least until about 3:30pm.
Got 2 more recipes posted, though I've not made either one, so can't vouch for how they'd taste, or come out.
ROSALIE, yep, you still have to "cook" the bulgur, or soak it:)
TREE, hope these work worries don't stress you out! And, I hope this cough of yours leaves soon-not the kind of souvenir you needed to bring back from the Sunshine State! I belibe DURUM WHEAT is fine, but semolina, if I remember correctly is more refined-will have to check that out and get back with you-if I don't say anything in a few days, so remind me, my mind tends to get sidetracked most days at my age! LOL!! But ultimately, I think WW pasta is your best overall bet.
FROG, please tell BELINDA I said Happy Birthday! I can't believe you didn't get the envelope yet-but then again, I sent AVIS 4 cookies about 1 1/2 weeks ago and she never got those either. Wonder what's going on with the PO (how it was sent). It's not like I didn't put the correct postage or my return address on it! This is getting me peeved! Why DON'T you write that book, I bet it would be a best seller. Hmmm, would it be a comedy or non-fiction?!? LOL!! I definitely couldn't of lived another day not knowing the pubic hair in knots fact-this is something I had never heard of- geez, I tend to learn something new each and every day! Hmmm, placemat ideas, I tend to go for things with maybe gold swirls and #'s on them, possibly. Odder the better for me! I like abstracts. See above regarding agave lady. How in the heck did I possibly walk/jog 4.5 miles in 47:27? It just doesn't seem possible when I look at your times-there's no way I could be making that time!:?:
BUSDEB, you are too funny with the horses! Do people get upset with you when you tell them you decided otherwise, or is this expected when shopping for a horse? So did you definitely settle and buy Dixie? Hope you feel better soon-seems many on the board are sick lately. Your untraditional Thanksgiving sounds wonderful to me!!!
MEL, can't post those recipes just yet, but if I don't hear from her in a timely matter, you can bet I will:D My sister tasted the BBQ SAUCE I made and loved it-it is a winner, so I think! You say you are gaining weight-what's your weight been over the last 4 weeks-can you e-mail me or post it and I'll take a look at it and maybe be able to provide some insight? I can tell you that I can go up 4-5lbs over a week or two, as I did over the last 2 weeks, but if you read my posts, you will also see where I come back down (as I have been for the last few days, thankgoodness!).
MUSIC, glad to see you checking in with all that's keeping you busy:) Have a great weekend. Hope the kids made lots of money selling their "treasures.":)
Well, I'm going to make something for dinner, since I'm home alone (Eli's at work, kids are with their Dad) I'll keep it simple and make a chicken salad sandwich (love them). I'll get back on her later hopefully, though I may try to get in the kitchen to clean and then mess it up by baking something new! If not, tomorrow morning, after my walk.
Hey, you SEC FANS can you deny the CANES are doing great?!? They pulvarized SYRACUSE today!!!!:spin:

HiHo all!!
Have been taking it easy. Did go out this a.m. to get a refund n my prescription and to buy the TG turkey. Ds would not let me go alone, did not want me lifting and carrying! As I said I do have a good caring family!
I was concernedover the charge for meds. Called insurance company, the lady there called their pharmaceutical division and there was no record of any recent purchase so she called the drug store. Come to find out they charged it to my old insurance company, in spite of the fact they had all the new info and were told the old was no longer in effect.
When I went for refund, there was a note that said overcharged because customer did not inform them which insurance to use. I told her that they were told, I had bought meds since that time and there was no problem. If they din't take old out of computer that is their fault. If I had been up to form I would have argued more but she was adamant and I thought the h-ll with it. Give me my $66 and I'll go. She said she has now removed the old insurance, she says!
My shoulder is better but stomach still touchy.
TV - Thanks for missing me. Take my advice, listen to your body and don't ignore things. Family and friends do notice things before we do!
DEB - Puhlease! Do you know how often I've heard "Shirley (surely) you jest" etc. One young man at work loved to tease me and tried to think up everything he could, he was really nice and it was truly in fun! Then one day I told him if he did it again he would sing soprano! For quite a while after he would pass me and do some notes in a falsetto!
Believe me, I bless my choir friends that day. And you're right I probably would not have gone to ER without their insistence. It's the old saying, "Don't do as I do, do as I say." I would have insisted if the roles were reversed.
ROSALIE - The doctor said Celebrex was probably one of the safest meds, but has taken me off it for 2 weeks until next appointment the 29th.
FROG - Thanx for reassurance about Protonix. I hope it works.
I didn't realize that female runners have such intimate problems. Do you think the men shave too? After all they have pubic hair? Curious minds wonder!
RHROO - I don't think we really have a lot of control over our stress. We can try to eliminate the cause, but often there is stress and anxiety without any outward cause. You're not whining, you're stating a fact. There are worries right now and they bother you. Seems to me that's fairly normal.
TREE - Hope the work worries resolve themselves (see Stress above). Coughs have a way of lingering, going away and coming back too. Hope you and dh will be feeling fit gain soon. I didn't even know I had reflux, I never had that sour or burning sensation in the throat or mouth. Apparently it doesn't always manifest itself that way. I also don't think I have stress, especially since turning 65 and being eligible for new insurance. I have a little more money now, which is a relief.
BUS - Love you're talk of horses. Frog missed mentioning the delight of getting up in the wee hours to mucj out stalls, I used to enjoy that part too! Your TG is traditional.........to you, it doesn't have to meet others standards! Start gargling for that throat!
Think I've sort of caught up. I can't go back to the ones I missed past week.
I am grateful for you all and for your concern.
Take care. Shirley

Hello all,
I am so tired ....I have fogotten how many muscles you use riding horses. I may not be able to walk tomorrow. LOL I think I may need to get a better bra for riding. LOL Guess I didn't explain quite right in the last post. I brought Dixie home with me that day and I am still getting Cami when we get back from our trip. I want at least two horse so they can keep each other company.
Deb......why am I so funny with my horse stories? I made the Carob Pecan squares for the family reunion tomorrow. I tried one:D and they are wonderful. I hope they like them tomorrow so I don't have to bring a bunch of them home.
Frog...come on down and ride Dixie ...you would love her. I am also like you ....I love the barn smell...when we first moved in here our barn didn't have that glorious smell but then we got Lucy and Ethyl and one I went out there with my Dad and I said ....do you smell that? He said what? I said that barn smell...mmmmmm isn't it wonderful....he thinks I am nuts too.
Mel ......my mom and Dad live right here next to us so he will look after all the animals for me but I will really miss them.:(
Gotta go get the kiddies in the bed.....cya all later.
Bye,
Debbie :)

Good Sunday Morning!
Just got in from my walk and doing my 4.5 miles. I REALLY had no desire to go and then decided I'd try and do 3.5 miles, but ended up with the 4.5 instead. My legs felt like dead weight and it was hard to push myself to walk, much less jog. Gives me 27 miles for the week:)
Was tired as well. Kids and I along with my nephew all woke up a bit after 4am to go outside and watch the meteor shower. They were dashing all over the sky, it was pretty neat. Went back in the house around 5:30am, but couldn't fall back asleep as much as I tried:rolleyes:
Eli's off today and I'm going to get his but up and out soon, I hope. Kids are going to the game and then we'll meet them later at my Grandparents house for Gramp's party.
Happy to step on the scale and see another 1/2lb down to 120.5, so that is only up 1/2 pound from my low. I have to get to the point that I understand that when I hit that 120 again, it's not going to stay there as I'd like. I just don't like being at the top of my cushion and so close to going over that cushion. I'd much rather be at the lower part of it;)
SEF, glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better. That trouble you had with the pharmacy can surely give one a headache. I hope you won't have that trouble again. When do you go back to the Dr.? Also, are you NOW going to behave yourself a little bit and not try to overdue things as you have been doing so????? AND, do us a big favor...gawd forbid you should get stuck in any hospital again, would you have your loving family alert us somehow. I really think about that sometimes, if something God forbid happened to someone on this board and we had no way of knowing-that would be awful!
BUSDEB, okay, now I got you, you bought both horses. I thought you were going to buy just one now and one later. I got confused:?: Glad to hear you liked the CAROB PECAN BARS, I like them a lot-and I do mean that-I just about ate the whole tray! Let me know what the family thinkgs about them.
Time for me to hit the shower and get ready. I'll be back on tonight sometime to start working on the new boards for next week.
Have a good, restful day!!

Well, I’m back. Was so busy last week that I didn’t post much. And we went out of town and stayed in a darling bed and breakfast. My sis and BIL went with us. The place we stayed had 2 bedrooms, a bath with a jacuzzi, a sun porch, a little kitchen, and our own private patio garden with a fountain.
I tried out that new recipe that I mentioned--Indian Pudding. It was a smashing success, and we had that Indian, er, pudding, for lunch!! Actually, we had it for dinner Saturday night. It was really fun eating it because it took some time to get the recipe just right, but watching it bake was a real treat. You cook it for an hour making sure it gets well done. It turned out just right and we were happy to munch on it for a tasty snack. And--SB legal too. Lots of protein in this particular recipe.
Heard there was a bad storm in SOFla Saturday late afternoon and evening. Lots of wind, but not much rain. You OK, Debbie? Heard there was some damage done: 59 tar paper shacks blown down that were ready to fall over anyway. But no structures of any consequence damaged at all. So that probably didn’t affect you Deb! Thank goodness. :)
Well, BusDeb. Congratulations on the big win for the Tide. Guess Toomer’s Corner didn’t get rolled this weekend. Condolences to Fillise and ?? Who else is that Auburn fan? BOB, was the Hound Dog taking a nap this weekend or what? Still dreaming of catching all those wildcats without actually putting any effort into it. Just like the Gators did up at Auburn, except you all squeaked by with a W. Missy, haven’t heard from you in a while. The West Div. is up for grabs. Next weekend should be interesting, or is it Dec. 1 when all the chips get dealt out?
Stayed pretty much OP on our little trip. Probably had more fat than I wanted, but then, eating out is always difficult to monitor fat grams. Had seared scallops in lemon beurre blanc sauce, all over sautéed spinach. That was all I had for Friday dinner. Also had a glass of wine. But no bread or anything off plan. Had SB pancakes for breakfasts. I took my electric skillet and some fruit, so was really good starting the day. Had some OJ this morning, and probably should just have had H2O, but needed some sustinance quick! Our salmon, grilled veggies, fruit salad, green salad, hummus and pita party Saturday night was perfect. We put candelabra on our table and caught the attention of all around us eating ham sandwiches or fried chicken.
We have a big bash to go to tonight. One of those fund raising affairs where everyone dresses in formal wear and rubs elbows with 5000 of their closest friends. As you can tell, they are not my favorite parties to attend. Menu is pre-picked, and there are some boring speeches. But, John Tesh is the entertainment, and I do like his music. So, gotta go and finish unpacking and get ready for the event. Have a great evening, all.

Just have time to let everyone know I haven't fallen off any cliffs. Just have had an incredibly busy week. And my laptop messed up so am posting on our "big" computer. I hate sitting in front of it so have avoided it. I have been lurking off and on at school, but big brother watches so I can't stay on very long.
I've had a rollercoaster week as far as the scales go. Was down two more pounds early in the week, then shot back up 4 yesterday. I was down 2 today, so am up 2. It must be something with my cycle. I'll have to up my exercising to get myself back on track.
My daughters have the whole week off, but I have two days of staff development. My son flies in from Annapolis on Wednesday. We can't wait - haven't seen him since August 14. He'll be home for 3 1/2 days. Then we'll have him home for two weeks at Christmas.
Hope you all have a super week. I hope to be able to respond to everyone this coming week.
