Hi!

Well, I've started doing the "Walk Away The Pounds" video at least five days a week. I'm starting off with a mile and plan to add in a mile every month, for a total of 4 miles per day. The total 4 miles takes approximately an hour to complete.

Once I've got walking down and my weight reduced considerably, I plan to run. :P

I've been working out at home so....

I usually wear a sports bra and shorts. I get hot.

If I was going to the gym, I'd wear wide/straight legged exercise pants with a tshirt.

I do something every day. If the weather is nice, I walk at least 3 miles, up to as much as 5 miles. Depends on how my time management has been that day! If it's icky outside, or if it ends up being 10:00 pm or so before I can get started, then I work out at home. I do about 40 minutes on the ellipical machine, followed with 15-20 minutes with small free weights. Occassionally I'll throw in a walk away the pounds video if I just want to do something different....I've never been considered the most coordinated creature, though, so I only do those if I'm home alone!

I have several pairs of adidas shorts that fit me well and are very comfortable. Whether working out at home or walking I tend to wear those with a snug fitting tank and my sneakers. If it's cool outside I'll start out with a hooded sweatshirt jacket over the top that I can shedd as I start to get sweaty.

I workout at home or I'll walk outside. Occasionally I'll go to the fitness center here in my complex. I always wear pants and a t-shirt.

I work out an hour (more on the weekend) per day. And I wear some stretchy pants I found somewhere (they're almost on their last legs!) that are cropped right below the knees and t-shirts.

Twice a week I do water aerobics and I wear (you guessed it!) a swimsuit. Lately I have been trying to walk the dog, so I just wear comfy clothes. My goal is to move every day.

I decided mid journey that I just wasn't moving enough, so I decided that if I was going to eat every day of my life, that I probably should exercise every day as well. So that's what I've been doing for the past few months, and that's what I intend to do from here on in. I switch it up throughout the week. I work out at home and wear yoga pants and a Hanes white t-shirt and sneakers. I'm beginning to get too warm though, so I think I will buy some yoga type capris and maybe just a sports bra.

I walk most days - outside in good weather, inside in yucky. I've also started doing the TurboJam 20-minute workout (which is actually fun!) on alternating days. Like Robin, I wear yoga pants....they are so comfy, I wish I could wear them all the time! That and a t-shirt :)

i recently started going to the gym 3 days a week for about 45 min each day, plus i walk there and back, so its about an hours worth. and on the days i don't go to the gym i walk a mile on the treadmill and slowly increase my speed each day, i really should start going for 2 miles though. as for clothes, i wear a t-shirt and "comfy" pants...i really dunno what else to call them, they are just black with a white strip on either side, im sure you know what im talking about.

I love rockinrobin's statement; i eat every day so I should exercise every day.
I walk my dog 4 days+ a week and my treadmill 1-2 days a week. I have Carmon Electra's strippercise the one with the personal trainer, it is hard but good and I got from the library The Biggest Looser DVD to try and it is so cool with a 6 week program. When I exercise it's a T-shirt or tank and shorts or sweats.

I do 35 minutes on the treadmill and then about 5 minutes doing scrunches, leg lifts, etc. I just received my Body for Life for Women workout DVD and am looking forward to using that, as I think my body has gotten used to what I have been doing. Time to ramp it up!

I wear (kinda blushing here) just a T-shirt, socks, and Tennis Shoes. If I wear a bra, it starts bugging me when I sweat. Of course, when I start the DVD I'm sure I will wear my sports bra since there is a lot more jumping around with that than I am doing now.

Great thread! I like the ideas here.

Oh, I forgot to mention what I work out in.

Since I work out at home, it's usually whatever I'm wearing at home before tossing it into the laundry when taking a shower after a workout.

Well, I work out at a gym....When I went back last november at about 240lbs I don't think it mattered what I wore because in my mind I looked terrible in everything. I started slow, 30-40 minutes on the elliptical or the treadmill (at a slow steady pace). There is also a 30 minute circuit room where you alternate between machines and a step which I did once or twice a week. I would always workout in the small room downstairs cause I was too embarrassed to go up to the main floor.Well after I lost the first 20lbs I did what I like to refer to as 'grew a pair' and went to the main floor.

My goal is to get to the gym every day... I go whenever it fits into my schedule on the weekends and weeknights after work...at about 8ish...right now I average about 5 days a week though. I now alternate between the treadmill, elliptical, cybex and stairmill machines and lift weights about 3 times a week. I've run into some friends there now so I've got some workout buddies. In addition to what I do at the gym as the weather gets nicer I will be trying to incorporate more into my days...walking to and from work and around the city to get places instead of taking the T so much, day hikes, more outdoor activity etc.

Generally I wear some sort of pants...they are fairly snug but not tight...just not baggy. They are lightweight stretchy material so that they breathe well and move well. Up top there are some layers that go on....lets just say that I'm rather well endowed and the girls require a good seatbelt. I wear an ultra supportive bra like sports bra and then over that a regular sports bra tank top....for a bit of extra support and also cause I'm still a bit self conscious and having that tight tank top under whatever tshirt i choose to wear gives me a bit of a security feeling that my fat isn't giggling around everywhere. As I tone and lose my tshirts on top are progressively getting less baggy...and i do have to say that the snugger ones are much more comfortable to work out in! If I'm working out at home....I wear whatever is most comfortable cause I live alone and there isn't anyone here to see me. Oh and good quality supportive sneakers too:D

I forgot to mention that my goal is to workout every day as well. I think really I need to try to do SOMETHING every day. Also, I try to figure out how to get extra exercise in such as walking.

I am not to the point yet of loving exercise, so I've been doing my three Curves workouts each week. However, last week I added a forth day! It was really hard because my muscles felt "tired" or something on Friday (the 4th workout) and I could tell my energy was down a little bit, but I did complete it.

I also just got a yoga video that I plan to investigate this week. Anyway, I usually work out in mid-calve cotton workout pants and one of the hubby's shirts.

Do the yoga pants come in plus sizes?

Lakegirl,
Yoga pants definitely come in plus sizes. I think Just My size carries them as well as Junonia.

Also, I will admit that I wasn't loving exercise lately but I forced myself to do it and then I realized that it is giving me more energy and that I do love it. Sometimes you have to fake loving exercise in order to do it.

Hi,

I exercise at home five or six days a week for around an hour a day. I am trying to add shorter evening workouts-like a short cardio or yoga/stretch session at night.

I wear tank tops and capri exercise pants I found at Modell's. I can squeeze into the XL (does not look pretty, though) I can't stand long pants because I get too hot. I've never found a comfortable sports bra and I hate trying to peel them off when I'm sweaty! Actually, I don't even wear a bra when I exercise (since I'm home)-my chest is the only body part where I DON'T need to lose weight....oh, well.

Walmart has the JMS capri pants. I may pick up a pair soon. Also, once in a while Ross has some capri exercise pants in plus sizes.

I'm pissed that a lot of stores don't carry plus sized exercise pants.

Sherry, I'm with you!!
Luckily, I can wear XL pants now but before it was so hard to find a pair of plus size pants. Walmart exercise pants would fall apart on me and I'd order the danskin ones online. At home, I'm not picky about exercise clothes because no one sees me except my cat and my husband.

I can't quite decide if I love to exercise or not. I don't think I actually love doing it. But I do love when I've DONE it. I feel like I really have accomplished something. I think it's kinda cool to think that I am someone who exercises everyday. I feel it's what healthy, fit people do. And I absolutely love that it has added muscle to my body and has helped in my weightloss. I LOVE that aspect of it. I have also just accepted the fact that it is VITAL and is a must. It's no longer up for negotiation. It's just something that I do. I really feel the need to protect myself from ever becoming morbidly obese again.

I usually run 4 days a week, and depending on weather (it changes hourly here in Chicago), I wear up to 3 layers on top, all wicking. On the bottom, sometimes I wear tights, sometimes regular running pants (and soon, shorts).

Occassionally I'll go to the health club (when the weather is too lousy to run, or on an off-running day) and do a little cross-training on the bikes or lifting weights. Usually just a cottton t-shirt on top and a pair of my running pants on the bottom.

And then I occasionally do a yoga dvd at home or lift free weights - then I wear whatever the heck I feel like wearing.

Always, always I will be wearing my Enell sports bra. I have a larger chest, and I have to say that it's the greatest sports bra I've ever owned.

I get a lot of my workout clothes at Target - they carry a line by Champion (C9, I think) that's pretty cheap, but not cotton, so it wicks properly.

I work out every day -usually an hour in the morning (cardio/dance) and an hour in the evening (yoga/weights/exercise ball).

I use DVDs in my livingroom and/or familyroom, so it doesn't really matter what I LOOK LIKE when I exercise. I just make sure that I am comfortable (usually yoga pants and a t-shirt), have on good athletic shoes with socks and make sure that I have stretched properly before I begin exercising.

I also eat a good breakfast when I wake up around 5AM and exercise around 7AM or so after I've digested the food a bit.

I keep water by me all the time that I exercise and drink a liter over the hour I exercise.

In the evening I exercise an hour or so after dinner. We eat dinner around 4 or 5 PM. Sometimes I wait and exercise as I watch TV.

I workout 5 days per week at the gym. I use the elliptical machine or treadmill for 40-60 minutes each session. This week, I am adding the weight circuit two days per week.

I have been wearing stretchy capri pants, sweat pants and a work out shirt/t-shirt.

In general, I exercise twice a day. I do a 20-35 minute treadmill walk or exercise video in the morning before work. Then in the evening, pending my schedule, I will aim to fit in an exercise class at the gym or a 20-40 minute walk around the neighborhood. If I can, I also try to walk during my work day for about 10 minutes. My daily rule is "20 minutes every day". Once I get started, I usually end up doing more than just 20 minutes.

If I'm at home, I'll exercise in either a sports bra and shorts or cropped spandex pants. If I'm at the gym, I throw a t-shirt on top of all that. I also invest in good running/cross training shoes. There are cute workout clothes out there and one of these days, I plan to be wearing one of them at the gym. I would love to be able to workout without a t-shirt. It would be cooler!

Hi,
Walmart has the JMS capri pants. I may pick up a pair soon.

The JMS capris are what I wear and they can be hard to find....so, I buy several pairs when I see them in the stores. I also get too hot, so I started wearing my husband's moisture wicking athletic shirts....also from Wal-mart. They actually comfortably fit over my breasts and hips and give me a little of the coverage I like. One of my goals is to be able to wear really nice and pretty workout wear that is made for women in pretty colors. I havent been able to find any in my size, 3X.

Before I went off-plan, I walked for an hour on the treadmill each day. Prior to the treadmill, I started off with the Walk Away the Pounds dvd's. I can highly recommend these. I had begun swim lessons to learn the different swim strokes build stamina. I decided that I need to get a little bit more in shape before I could actually swim laps. Each time, I became extremely nauseous...I thought I was going to pass out... and went right to bed for the night! Swimming is definitely very good exercise!

I was actually looking at the jms capris in Walmart last week and thought they looked really hot (as in heavy as in do I really want to wear these to workout in during the hot months?). Thoughts?
