This morning I didn't have a chance to grab my Cottage cheese and I had half a weetabix before I left for work. Needless to say I had to have some protien
I zipped over to the caf at work and the special was eggwhite omelette with grilled asparagus (MMMMM) I'm in line talking to this girl and when she hears me make my order, she looks at me and says Oh You're Healthy. Like I'm doing something wrong by NOT ordering something drenched in Cheese and fat.
Anywho 1/2 an omelette later I feel good I'm not yucky full
Eating Healthy is something I do for ME! :carrot: because I'm worth it!

I totally hear where you are coming from. I know for me it's "Oh you're eating healthy, that's great!" But at the same time their saying, "I could never do that, it would just be too hard, boring"...fill in the negative adjective. And I'm left thinking, "Well thanks for the "encouragement". It's hard, at least for me sometimes, to not get defensive about my eating, which is so stupid because it's just food! This time around with my trying to eat healthy and exercise I am dealing A LOT better with my negative talk to myself (ie, "You can't do this, it's TOO hard, it's not going to work anyway") I have to fight it so hard, but I know it will be worth it. Sorry didn't mean to go off, you just hit a point I've encountered. :)

I don't eat often in my cafeteria but one day I went with a coworker and got a sandwich. I was able to tell the person making it exactly what I wanted on it. Anyway, the sandwich line is next to the hamburger line. So I got my sandwich and one lady said "wow that looks so good and healthy". Kind of amazed me when it was something she could've had too if she wanted :)

Sometimes family you live with are worst at that.

My husband is great at supporting healthy eating - as long as he still gets his 500 lb steak (not really 500 lb). He hates fish and I eat fish a lot to help combat the weight and now I am starting to snack healthy - the kids who normally have no problem eating apples or oranges, etc. suddenly when they hear me talk about reducing & losing -suddenly the fruit becomes 'mommy's food'. My 9 year old is the worst for saying 'come on, mom, let's buy some chips - its Friday night!" Then i feel like doing something good for them is actually torture - and how could a loving mom subject her kids to anything else but what their heart desires. There are two worlds in nutrition -one that says eat what you want don't worry that you are 500 lbs or the one that says how could your eat 'that' it is off your diet, or is not good for you.
As long as the two worlds play on in my head i know my dieting or changing of lifestyles is a bigger struggle. my new thing is that while i'm at work and i can eat relatively unnoticed i have switched to eating fruit and granola bars during the day and maybe a little cheese & a yogurt - but mainly i eat every 2 to 3 hours and don't eat heavy at all during the day. So far I have lost a couple of 1/2 pounds since yesterday but I feel better all day.
My challenge will be at night/evening when i'm with the family. My time of weakness is from 6pm until sleep (10 or 11pm) and i'm trying oprah's do not eat 2 hours before bed -and that DOES help!!!

I never though I would say this, but I cannot wait until the day comes when I can eat solid food again, because I am craving grilled chicken salad or a veggie delite sub on wheat bread (from Subway) like no tomorrow! What a contrast before I was "banded," I craved less healthier things. I guess now that I am putting different things into my system and feeling better as a result, my cravings are changing. LOL.

LAnne - good luck on your progress. I can only imagine how you feel.

I would say that eating healthier does make you want to eat healthier. If you get rid of the junk, then the junk's hold on you subsides. I wouldn't say entirely but it has a lot less hold on you if you are eating junk frequently.

I am sure you will enjoy that grilled chicken salad when you do get the chance to eat it :)

The best thing you can ever do for your children is to teach them to eat healthy. They may not think so now, but they will thank you when they don't have weight problems and other health issues brought on by poor eating.

I went to a friend's wedding last year, and while there, I went to the grocery store with some pals. They were having a sale on soda pops at the time, and I informed my pals that I cut out soda pops entirely, don't even miss it, and would rather have water. They looked at me like I grew 2 heads or something, and promptly bought a soda pop for me. I didn't drink it, and gave it to someone else, but yeah, it's frustrating at times to be on a diet because everyone else seems to have this built-in message that you're gonna fail no matter what. All you can do is ignore it, and stay strong and committed to your goals.

I absolutly agree with you, NemesisClaws! My friend is about 20kg heavier than me, and is always complaining that she needs to lose weight. She is very good at doing this while eating potato chips and chocolate. Everytime she does this, she offers whatever it is to me. I always say no, because I'm trying as hard as I can to do the right thing. however, this doesn't seem to get through to her. "A treat every now and again wont hurt". That may be true, but she doesn't understand that I JUST DONT WANT IT.

I have noticed that everyone looks at me strangly when I eat my salad everyday, but I figure that is their problem, not mine!

(I do apologise for that sounding a little rambly, but thats been bugging me for ages!)
