Thumbs down Core Cereal?

Hi All,

I'm new to core and I was wondering if people had good suggestions for "whole grain, no added sugar cereals." The only one I was able to find so far is Post Shredded Wheat 'n Bran. It's not horrible, but it gets really mushy, which I could live without. I know I can eat plain oatmeal and I may stick with that, but was just wondering what experienced people were using.

Thanks,

Maria

That's the one I eat every day, Maria! I'll try to look in my Daily Food Companion later and see what others there are. There are not many. I think the Fibert One shreds...not flakes are also Core.

Fiber One, Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice and Shredded Wheat are the core cereals. I love Fiber One.

I am growing to LOVE puffed wheat. I call them my sugar smacks without the sugar...so they are just smacks I add my fat free milk and a little bit of sugar substitute some fruit and I'm off It's perfect when I need a super quick OP breakfast when I can't make my usual eggbeaters omelet!

Grape nuts are not Core. You'd have to use points for them.

I remember one of my friends loved the puffed wheat because you get so much more for your points, so can you really just eat cereal without counting it? I really need to read my materials again, I'm looking around this board and getting interested in Core.

You can have cereal once a day and you must have dairy with it.

Cold cereal is limited to once a day but the hot cereals are not. So...you could have cold cereal for breakfast and oatmeal/farina/cream of wheat for lunch or vice versa.

I make all my hot cereals with skim milk to help me get in additional milk servings. I'm over 50 and must try to get in 3 a day.

where do you find puffed rice/puffed wheat with no sugar added? I looked at walmart, but everything has sugar. I found one Kashi cereal with puffed stuff and no sugar, but haven't eaten it yet. I'm going to take it for work. I thought it would be easy to find puffed rice/wheat.

Keli, I apologize for not answering your question. I don't know where to find that puffed cereal.
