GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done just in case I don't get on here in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

Do what needs to be done. Don't waste your time with excuses. Don't settle for the easy way out. Don't worry about getting it perfect. Just give it your best and get it done.

There is no deep, dark, hidden secret to success. The way to success is perfectly clear and easy to see. Success comes from doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done.

The process cannot be cut short, so be wary of those promising shortcuts. There's nothing mysterious or mystical, so don't let yourself be taken in by self-proclaimed gurus.

You know what it takes to succeed. You've experienced it for yourself. You've seen it in others. The formula is reasonable and straightforward, and it's there for you to use.

When you see a problem, put in the effort to solve it. When you see a need, do what is necessary to fill it. When there's work to be done, jump in and do it. Success will never be handed to you, and yet it is always available to you. Right now is a great time to make it yours by doing what needs to be done.

Deb or anyone else- I don't think i'm doing pictures the best way. I've tried attaching then in the BROWSE box at the bottom, and that works, but the size and resolution has to be so low to get them to attach. Everyone else seems to be able to put up reasonably sized, high-res pictures. What's the trick?

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

Well, it's raining here, with a bit of wind gusts every now and then, trust me, we've had MUCH worse. They could of easily had school today-but I guess better safe than sorry. Definintely can't get in my walk this morning, but I'm hoping that once this passes through, maybe this afternoon I'll be able to get it in. I hate to miss a Monday walk, it doesn't make for a good start of the week-plus, with all I ate yesterday...

Actually, the scale is the same as yesterday, so the damage hasn't shown up yet, if it does. I'm keeping a watchful eye on myself today!

I have some news I'd like to share with you all. I told you about the woman from the company that imports the AGAVE SYRUP and being in touch with her regarding the agave and some questions I've had. Anyhow, we've been e-mailing back and forth and we hooked up on the phone last week. I was offered a independent contractor job of developing some recipes for the company, 4 to be put on the back of their product label on their agave syrup they are going to be packaging, along with 2 for the Canadian French version label. Then, they are going to have a website that she would like me to start with developing 20 recipes in different catagories. Of course, I'm thrilled with the prospect, while the same time, confused. This is something so foreign to me, not the recipe producing, but coming up with a figure to give her. She has no idea either and I'm at a loss for what to charge. I want to be fair, to us both, and yet, I don't want to under-price myself. My thinking was $100 a recipe, $15 an hour and the cost of the ingredients. I NEED SOME HONEST OPINIONS GALS! Does this sound reasonable and fair? Really, the recipes aren't hard to come up with, it's making them and test-tasting them (another worry I have which I'll discuss in a bit). The ingredient costs won't be much, esp. if it's a baked item, after the initial buy, I'll be able to use the stuff (like flour, butter, etc). Just things like a chicken recipe, stuff like that I'd need to buy each time. My hourly cost, to actually prepare and make the items. Like yesterday, I almost scrapped the cookies I was making, but played around with the recipe and was able to save it, though it didn't come out exactly as I wanted. I will try it again though-so sometimes I have to do something twice to get a good result. So, any thoughts???

I worry with the knowledge of myself that I have when it comes to baked goods. Even though they are SB LEGAL, I have no willpower and I worry the more things I make, the more I will eat. If it's not in the house, I have no problems. I know I have to taste some, but not 8-9 cookies as I did yesterday. I'm hoping it gets to be something that won't bother me after a while. I do have people to taste-test whatever I make, a good cross reference of taste buds I think.

THEN, she also mentioned that there's a possibility that I would be considered to be a DEMO COORDINATOR for sometime next year. That would be a possibility after they find a distrubutor in the State of Fl. I would do demos and then teach people who work in stores like WHOLE FOODS or WILD OATS how to do demos with the agave along with the knowledge of it, so they know what they are talking about when people ask them questions (like the benefits, how it's used, etc). She said if that happens and works out, I could be traveling the SE doing it in other states-something that sounds right up my alley!

So, that's my news. I have to come up with a proposal this week and have 4-6 recipes to her by next week. Would love your feedback on this!!!:D

MEL, e-mail me the picture, I'll see if I can do it and send it back for you-I don't know what the heck I do when I play around with getting the pictures to fit, I just keep going at it until I get it up there!

Well, I guess I'm going to go figure out what to do today. I do have some errands I could run, it's now not raining so much, so I could take advantage of there not being much traffic out on the roads.

PLEASE REMEMBER, TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!! I have a board meeting at the school tomorrow night, but should be home in time.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hey Gang

I haven't written in a while. I have been lurking. My DS and I have been sick for a week. I think it's starting to go away for me but DS is coughing away. Poor thing. I guess tending to him in the middle of the night is keeping me from resting properly and keeping me run down.

I had a BAD weekend 2 weeks ago. Ate lots of no-no stuff and felt bloated and the scale went up 2 lbs. The past week hasn't been too bad. Not eating all that much being sick. I have found that what I am cooking is easy heat'n eat stuff, kind of comfort food. I've been consciously trying to make good choices, but then sometimes I just say to myself "it's better to eat something not totally legal than eat nothing at all." Still trying to get off those 2 lbs.

I have come up with my own version of Neocitron (hot lemon cold drink)
I mix 1 TBSP lemon juice (I use the bottled kind) and 1 TBSP (or more to taste) of Agave nectar in a mug of boiling water. Neocitron does have some kind of medication in it, so I just take some tylenol with water.

Gonna try to get out to get a wee bit of fresh air. Maybe that will help clear my head.

Reading all your messages helps to keep me motivated. I am thinking about you all. Hope everyone in Florida is keeping safe with Michelle blowing about.

Take care everyone.

It is gorgeous in east central Alabama today--we could use some of your rain Deb!

I wasn't going to post this morning--but as I read Deb's post I decided to "weigh-in." I'm working on a proposal myself!

Deb--I think the $100.00 per recipe sounds fair, but I'd ask for the ingredient expense on top of it (always ask for expenses on top of fees)--the price is for your expertise. As for the hourly--a good way to compute that is to decide what you think a job like that might pay if you worked full time--then divide it by the week and hour to determine a reasonable hourly figure--you might checkmonster.com and some of the other job hunting websites to see if they have salary info. $15.00 hour, if you were working full time would come to about 31K per year. I hope the rest works out--why do I think you would be so good at teaching others about the virtues of agave???????:?:

I hope you ger your walk in!

Frog and Big K's mamma--I posted messages to you late last night on the end of last week's board. I don't know if y'all have seen them, but I was thinking about you!

Zanne--I hope your daughter is better. That drink sounds good--I have to admit when I have a cold that drink with a shot of whisky before bed sounds lke just the ticket--but I haven't had a cold since I started SB! Got through a second fall with no allergy flareup!!!!!!!

Uh-Oh, I've probably jinxed myself--will have sniffles before nightfall!

I hope everyone else has a good week.

Remember--what's done is done. We cannot change the past, but what we do today CAN change the future!

Debelli: I don't really have any ideas for you but YAY! That sounds like an awesome opportunity for you. I:) also wanted to ask you, I found some Stevia with Agave. It is made by Kal. I was almost overwhelmed by the choices of stevia but this is individual packets. The did not have agave nectar/syrup. However, they did have pure fructose by Esculate? I think. It made it clear on the back of the package that it was NOT made from corn.

It's a little windy here, but a beautiful day! It's good to be off. Hoping to get some more much needed house work done. I just need to get out of this chair & do it!

Debelli What a wonderful opportunity for you! Your prices seem to be reasonable to me & it sure is something that is right up your alley. As far as the tasting, you'll just need to have a mind-set about your limits & utilize your tasters right there in your household & friends around you which I'm sure should not be a problem for you. I know you have already got several recipes that you can start with. I'm sure you will keep us updated as we will all be interested in hearing all about the progress of this endeavor.

Fillise I sure hope you did not jinx yourself into a cold just so you can have that shot;)

Zanne Sure hope you feel better soon. I agree, it's hard to eat right when you're sick. You're either not hungry or you just want the wrong stuff. I wouldn't worry too much about those 2 lbs till you're feeling better & you should be able to get them back off.

meliris Hope you can get those pictures up. Enjoyed seeing the one you posted. You're really cute & not like I pictured you from your posts.

music teach & BusDebSo glad to see your pictures too!!! The close up pictures are so nice & clear. I always enjoy putting faces with posts & names.

BigKnightsMomma Welcome to our board!! Just got around to reading your BIO. Girl, what a big boy you have. 6'9"?? I'd take his advice too if he suggested a name.. Hey, another nurse! Wonderful! I'm an LPN & work at a small local hospital nearby. I
 nursing. I did work on getting a BSN degree, but dh came along when I had only 3 semesters left & I couldn't handle full time school, work, & a new marriage, so guess what I dropped? Some days I could kick myself over it, but at the time it was the right choice. But I love bedside nursing & that's what I do to the best of my ability. Anyway, again Welcome! Sounds like you are making good progress.

Frog you said "*That a group of people that I've never met can be some of the best friends that I could have. You are there for the successful and unsuccessful days. Thank you! " You couldn't have said it any better. That is the way I feel about everyone on this board. I thrive on this board & the feedback from everyone here. I feel like I have no better friends than all of you here.

Rosalie I had copied your recipe for Zucchini Omelet, waiting for the chance to make them which I did this am. Loved them. Thanks for posting it.

Debelli Thanks for bringing those 3 boards to the top yesterday. I was looking through them again & found a recipe someone had revised for WW/Oatmeal Pancakes which were fabulous!!! Fixed them for supper after church last night.

Thunderwoman Hope you're feeling better.

Ann Are you healing ok???

SEF, KIM, Rhroo, VIV, Where are you??? I miss you!!!

YIPEEEE! The rains subsided, at least long enough for me to get in my 4.5 miles:) I did it in 49:18, not too bad considering I was going against some tough winds some of the time. It was blustery, but humid, didn't get out til after 11:30am.

I made another batch of cookies today:rolleyes: This time I made them with the knowledge of the nutritional values BEFORE eating a single one. I made SHORTBREAD COOKIES. I think they may need a tad more salt since I used unsalted butter. I personally think they are good, but Lauren didn't care for them. Michael hasn't tried one yet and I'll get a few people to give me some of their opinions. I've eaten 2 so far, but hopefully, I'll be able to resist eating any more for the remainder of the day:s:

ZANNE, I hope you get feeling better. I know when you're not feelign 100% it's easier to eat things that may not be OP than to fix something. I'm sure you'll get those 2lbs back off pronto, just make sure you get back on the wagon and don't put it off, the longer you stay off the harder it seems to be to get back on.

FILLISE, thanks for your input. Def. I would put the ingredients cost seperately, even though I and others get to reap the benefits of the cooking. $15 an hour seems a bit high to me, but then again, it's not an hourly job and it won't add up to all that much in the long run. I'm hoping that this possibililty of DEMO COORDINATOR next year will bring me more of an income, I desperately need the $$$.

LIZ, do you mean the KAL BRAND of STEVIA also has AGAVE in it? I've never heard of the Esculate brand of Fructose, but if it's not made with corn, then you may have just found a good item. Are you sure of the name, I tried looking it up on the web and there's nothing with that name that I could find. Do they give you any indication what the source is? There's only once place I've found that has fructose not from corn which was on the web in Canada and too expensive to bother with trying to get, esp. when I found the agave.

MELF, you are so right, I am going to have to get a handle on the amounts I can eat of whatever I make, that I'll just have to eat 1 to 2 pieces/portions and then get rid of the rest to my "taste-testers". It bothers me that I have no control over eating my goodies! Glad to hear you found a few more recipes after I brought the boards up-they tend to get lost and forgotten about when they get too far down the line.

Gonna hit the shower and get some things done this afternoon, before the entire day is shot.

I'll check in with you all later today.

Debbie--Re the "problem" of being tempted by all the extra food--cookies, pies, etc--being around if you tested recipes, look at it this way. If they are paying you for the ingredients then you are not out any money from your own pocket. After baking or cooking whatever, just dump the whole thing in the sink and run water on it so that you will not be tempted to eat it. Just save one or 2 for sampling, and a couple for your kids to give their opinion. Any extras over that, just dump! You will lot be "losing any money" because someone else bought the ingredients. And you will be saving yourself in the long run. All that hard work you've done this past year needs to be protected!!

Yes the stevia I bought has agave in it. Is that ok? It seems rather sweet,is it possible for it to affect blood sugar? Here is the link to the website.

http://www.nutraceutical.com/search/view_product.cfm?product_index=39115

I am calling my co-op as we speak about the fructose. It was only like $10 for this huge bag
Esculent.is the brand name.
8.79 for a 5 lb bag.pure crystalline fructose.
It is partially derived from corn but NOT from corn syrup.

hi everybody,
again i want to thank everyone for the nice warm welcome to the board. i told everyone who is on this WOE where i work about this message board, they were very impressed. i work in a small hospital in palm bay, fl. there are currently 6 of us in the recovery room who are doing this WOE. it helps to have support in the workplace, there is only one non-believer who tends to try to thwart our efforts. she referred to me as a borne-again christian with all my sugarbusting talk. i let her know that i was glad she noticed and try not to be so negative about it. it is sad when a friend can't support such a healthier lifestyle for a co-worker, oh well.
weather has been damp here in central fl, hope you are staying dry and safe debbie. the erosion in melbourne beach looks awful, that is about 10 minutes from where i live.
my question to you all is "where do i find this agave" i see it in a lot of the baking recipes and have not been able to find it , any ideas? to gator gal , is there a place in orlando i could find it, we are over there fairly often to see my son at UCF.
Also where do i find the chat room on the board for tues. eve.
thanks for any info.

bye for now

Hi all!!

Thanks for missing me Melf, although I didn't know I was gone that long. I THINK I posted yesterday, but I've been wrong before! I don't know if you get the Picayune in your area, but in yesterday's paper there was an article in the travel swection on Abbeville. It mentioned the Caldwell Inn and the historic things in the area. Sounded rather nice. I thought I'd like to go to Avery Island sometime. Just to see where Tabasco comes from!

DEB - What a wonderful opportunity for you! I told you you protested too much about cooling!! Go for it. The money the company would make from the recipes should make 100 bucks acceptable, they can always come back with a counter offer. I think Gator has the right idea, Dump all that temptation down the drain. Hope you survived the hurricane. Never heard of Hydro massage, but then I lead a sheltered life! I finally found pastry ww flour, now will have to try to make something with it! I liked the motivation thought. I am a firm believer in the fact that we do what we have to do.

THUNDER - Hope you and yours are feeling better. You know that Chicken Noodle Soup is Jewish penicillin don't you. In Jersey I had a lot of Jewish friends and that's what they called it. Now doctors are saying it is good for you when you have a cold. The heat loosens you up. If you really want to loosen up eat sometihing spicy. I like things so hot and spicy it melts your ear wax!!!

GATOR - Liked your boating story, we used to go on the Delaware. Always had to carry cotter pins with us as there werealways hidden rocks that would be hit by motor propellor and shear the pin. Another bif thing was tubing and canoeing. It was such fun, When I was pregnant the first time we went fishing and I got the worst sunburn!! Couldn't even stand a sheet on me!

JRED - Hope you are feeling better.

FROG - Loved your thoughts on you year with SB. I think we all realize how much the friends here mean to us, we just don't express as nice as you did!

MEL - One thing we don't get here is leaves. I rather miss the smells of fall, the raking of the leaves etc. I know what you mean about your bench mark dress. I had the same thing happen! I also begrudge buying dresses that really only get used for a one time event. Not cheap just hate to have something hanging in the closet that doesn;t get used!

MOMMA - You sound like a proud Mom, there's nothing like supporting your kids in their endeavors, even if it does mean that you flip burgers for the refreshment stand and miss the game or the meet. What is important that you are there!

You'll be able to ignore those cookies, just have strength. I was a sucker for the mint cookies. Years ago the GS were the only ones who had them, now you can buy them in stores. I'm so old I can remember selling cookies for .25 a box!!

I bought my Agave in a health food store.

FILLISE - You're right about the sweets. I don't miss them as much as I thought I would. Remember I told you our initials would help remind us to be sugar free. I noticed my license plate is another reminder, it's GWP....Gross Weight Problem! Can find reminders to behave wherever we look if we want to.

TREE - I sort of wanted the Yankees to win just because they were from New York City. But for that I think they have won enough times that it is nice to see such a young team come forth. So yeah, RAH DIAMONDBACKS!!!!!!!!

ZANNE - Liked the hot lemonade using Agave, never thought of that. Used to make it with honey and a shot (or two) of Southern Comfort. That sure kicked things away!!

Don't want to lose this. I will continue next.

MOMMA - Look for Debbie's post on Tuesday, she usually has one that you can click on and it takes you right to the Chat Board. I put it in my Favorites.

I had a really busy day today. Went to the nursing home and then shopping. I went to three different stores before I found what I was looking for!

Then did usual house things, made supper and watched the ice skating, my fav sport. Also stitched for five hours!!

Well, time to head for bed.

Take care, Shirley

I'll get in a message while I can--it just seems sooooo early (it's only 6 am!)

Thank you all for your good wishes about us getting better. It was a rough night. You moms know how awful it is and how helpless you feel when the little one is sick. I don't know how many times I was up in the night, but I think I'll be trying to sleep today:dz:

SEF and FILLISE--GREAT idea about adding a shot to the hot lemon;) I'm not too sure about the whiskey, but I doooo like Southern Comfort!

I'm gonna paraphrase FROG--that she's met the nicest friends on this board--she's right. You all are a great bunch of people!:D

BIG K's MOMMA--Welcome to the board. This is a very supportive and caring bunch.

DEBELLI--What a great opportunity!!! I'm not sure what a fair price would be. You said it's a Canadian distributor? Let me know where they sell it. Maybe I'll pick some up with your recipes on the back!!!

I'm gonna go for now. The little bit of stamina I had is about used up. I'll be lurking!

Bye for now:wave:

Still trying to post this #$^*&% picture!
Hey it worked! This was taken last July in the English Lake District just before starting SB, and probably just after another meal of fried whatever, with a large helping of potatoes and a pint of beer. UGH! The thought makes me ill now. Except the beer:o

It's really cold here this morning. Got in my indoor workout on the stationary bike (45 minutes of intervals) and 180 abs, but will wait til this afternoon when it gets a little warmer to walk w/ Cleo. Andrew is home from school today (in-service) but also has a cold, so I don't know if I'll go to work or do much.:(

Sef- All the leaves are back in the backyard! You may miss the fall and the cruchy leaf sounds, but I'm ready to move to pine forests at this point!

Melf- I hate to ask, but how did you imagine me before you saw the picture???

Deb- Sorry about the empty emails last night- frustration level with the computer was at an all time high, the cable modem was slow and hormones screwy enough to fry my remaining brain cells! As you can see, I think I've figured this out. As for the job, it sounds perfect for you, and if you have any time left over, you can post the recipes for us! While I agree in theory with Gator's advice about ditching the results after you and the family have taste-tested, I don't think I could do that. Must be a genetic thing about hoarding. Think of all the poor starving children in Israel, my grandmother used to say:lol:

Good morning everyone else! Hope all the sniffles and sinus infections have gotten better!

Trying to post family. OK, it worked. watch out, now that I'm such a hot-shot at this, you will be treated to my endless photo journeys. Except I am selling my trusty old SLR on ebay today and will have to wait a bit to afford the digital that I want.:(

Here's my family last July at Coniston Waters in the Lake District, DH Jon, DD Amy(19) and DS (sometimes) Andrew, 11. They didn't eat as many potatoes or beer as I did, tho Jon did try:D
THey just don't have the superior fat storing skills that I have:lol:

Andrew is home today- teacher in-service, but aso a bad cold. Don't know what we'll get accomplished. Iprobably won't go to work but have a million errands to run. I'm afraid if I leave him alone, he'll finish his Halloween candy and be REALLY sick. Tho I'd love to see it gone.

Hope everybody elses sniffles and sinus problems are getting better,

Good morning all,

Hope all our Florida ladies are still in place and the storm passes you by. Get out of there if it gets to bad, we can't do without you all.

Hope everyones doing well this morning. I am doing much much better. Still have a cough but its better to. Its very very cool here in Jena, La this morning and I have all the windows in my trailer open. Very nice weather for me.

Sef I love chicken noodle soup and especially when I am not feeling well. Hot enough to melt ear wax:lol:. I like my food pretty hot to but not quite that hot, just hot enough to make my mouth burn for at least a hour.;) . Especially my gumbo and red beans and sausage...Yummy. Its great for cold weather. Makes the nose run.. .

Melf I'm doing much better. My hubby has 2 job intervews tomorrow in Lafayette. I am praying he comes home hired for one or the other. Hows the nursing going are there very many sick with this weather. My sister had to take her 4 yr old to the ER in Alexandria late last nite. He was running a 103 temp and I haven't heard from her this morning. I hope hes ok. I'm going to call her later this morning.

Zanne I know what you mean by not feeling good after eating illegal food. I ate fried fish last nite with fried onion rings and turnip greens and boy did I take a bad bad headache. I suffered for the rest of the nite. I will not do that anytime soon again. I think the turnip greens must have been loaded with sugar and I can now see what it will do to me.

meliris great looking pictures and you are a great looking family. I still haven't figured out how to post my family pics. I really miss my potatoes to. But when I do I get me a sweet potatoe and bake frys in the oven but not very often as I tend to eat the whole potato and go back looking for more  .

Debelli congrats on the offer you received. I would go for it. We still haven't gotten any agave necter. My hubby is going to try to make legal pecan pies today. He made the pie crust last nite and I think they turned out great. Hope your ok.

To everyone I missed have a great day and happy sugarbusting!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

It's an absolutely gorgeous day down here in Miami-couldn't ask for a better day. Despite is being beautiful, I had to urge myself out for a walk today, but out I went and did the usual 4.5 miles. Came home, took Lauren to school and then went to wash my car-it so desperately needed it, I can't tell you how long it's been since I had it washed-lets just say the sponge absolutely disintegrated quickly! Looks a heck of a lot better, but still needs a professional wash job-being it's white, you see every little thing on there.

GATOR, I could never throw away food, just not part of my nature, nor part of my Jewishness. I guess it's part of the Jewish guilt trip we are taught so early on. I hate to waste food. No, instead, I will have to follow portion control. I find only when something is very new do I over-indulge, but if it's something I've made before, I don't find it that bad to resist it. I only ate 4 cookies yesterday:)

LIZ, for the agave in the stevia, it's okay, but be careful with the maltodextrin in it-as long as you don't use too much, it will be okay. That's why I like STEVIA PLUS, there's no fillers like Maltodextrin in it-it seems that malto. does a number on me if I have too much-which isn't a whole lot for me. For the Esculate, it's partially derived from corn-wonder what the other part is from. I would say, use in moderation-I have no experience with this product to give you a better idea.

BIGK, there will always be a nay-sayer in the crowd, don't pay no mind to her, she's more than likely JEALOUS and GREEN WITH ENVY. You and your co-workers/friends will be having the last laugh. It's wonderful you have such a wonderful support system right there with your friends-it definitely helps. The beaches are bad here as well-guess it's the entire east coast-they are definitely going to need to bring in some sand to build up the area down here. For agave, you should be able to find it in Orlando, possibly the WHOLE FOODS up that way-if they don't have it, they should be able to order it, the ones down here carry it. If not, I will be up there in 2 months to meet SOL, FROG, GATOR, BOB and hopefully others, including you-I could always bring some up with me-you can let me know. Though, between GATOR AND SOL, I'm hoping they can give you the name of someone up there that does have it. I will be posting a link to our chat room later today, but right at the top of the page, there is a link that you can click on that says: Visit the 3FC Sugar Busters chat :)

SEF, read my post to GATOR, can't bare to throw away good food;) Let us know what you make with the WW Flour, esp. if it's something yummy. 5 hours of stitching-WOW! I'm waiting to see a picture of you holding up one of your pieces;)

ZANNE, the company who imports the agave syrup is going to make a bottle for the Canadian/French market. I will let you know more as I find out the information.

MEL, LOVED THE PICS! What a difference in you, not only can you see the weight loss, but def. now, I can see the difference in the hair! You've come a long way, baby!!! Loved seeing the family-and a beautiful one at that too! Hard to see your DD in the pic, but from what I see, she's gorgeous. Def. the food issue must be something with being Jewish, though my Mom always referred to the starving kids in Africa or India;)

THUNDER, storms are over, nothing happened here, thank goodness. Okay, you have MY ATTENTION-how's hubby making legal pecan pie? I LOVE PECAN PIE!!!!

Again, another reminder TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST I should be home in time from the meeting, darn thing starts at 6:30 for board members, 7:30 for general public (parents), so I hope it will be over quickly!

And of course, a reminder that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish you all good luck with the scales tomorrow!

At home for a quick break between meetings today, thought I'd post a short note.

Thanks to those of you who repsonded to my reflections on SB over the past year!

DEB - That is great that you have been made such an exciting offer from the Agave folks! I talked it over with the MBA DH of mine and he suggested that $100.00 per plus materials is not too high. I LOVE that you have this opportunity! GO DEB! On another note, still feeling like a slug and am TIRED of gradually seeing the weight creep back on, especially now that I am exercising and gaining pounds and inches! But I guess that I can only blame myself. I think that the Rx combined with too much fat in my diet may be the culprit. After the ice cream in the house is gone there will not be anymore for a while! I honestly asked DH last night if he could tell that I had gained and he said yes. This morning I could barely get my size 10 jeans zipped, and I was in 8's at one point this summer! It really is frustrating. DH suggests that maybe I should talk to the doc about going off the meds. I feel like I am just trading one problem for another! I am frustrated! Does it show?

I will be at chat tonight, DH and a friend are going to the hockey game. Tomorrow is our 9 year anniversary! :D He's made dinner reservations at a local fine dining establishment. He earned good husband points for that!

Gotta run to a meeting.

Hope to see you all tonight at chat. Hope I don't forget!

Peace,
FROG

Debelli:

I bought a box of 100 packets for using in my coffee. Now is the stevia plus a liquid? I am serious there was like 20 options to choose from! :dizzy: I just got the packets for convenience. Do you think 1-3 packets a day would affect me? It says it does not affect blood sugar but I have my doubts.

I am corresponding with a lady here locally who is just starting SB! and it is really helping me get back on track. I am also taking my goals 10 lbs at a time so my next goal is 240. Then 230. I think I will be able to be more focused like that.

I hope everyone is doing great!

Evening All:wave:

Have a few minutes before I have to go to the meeting this evening. Wanted to get in a quick post before I go.

With today being TUESDAY TIPS I wanted to share some info I saw in the PREVENTION MAGAZINE that came today. I saw a great T-Shirt (pg 83) from a company called CAUTION/YIELD for those of us who exercise. You know how I am always telling you how I have to jump out of the way of cars (with stupid drivers behind the wheel) because I walk on very busy and heavily traveled roads-well, they have a shirt that says DRIVE WITH CAUTION under that it says YIELD and under that PEDESTRIAN IN XWALK or they have another instead of PEDESTRIAN IN XWALK, WALKER IN ROAD, among others (like cyclist). FINALLY, someone made some shirts for walkers!!! I called and spoke to a gentleman named FRED who is the owner of the company-gave him an idea to do my idea of a T-shirt that says "WALKERS DO IT IN STRIDE":) They have other great stuff, so do check out the site, the link is below:

http://www.cautionyield.com/

Also, in this article in PREVENTION they haave some tapes they mention and title the piece WLK INDOORS WITHOUT A TREADMILL Too cold, wet, or icy outside? Put on your walking shoes, and pick up the remote control! Leslie Sanasone, creator of Walk Aerobics, offers exervise videos based on 1, 2, and 4-miles wlaking moves such as walking in place, side steps and knee lifts. To order her latest three-volume set, call toll-free (88) 440-9255, $35.90 for the set, or sold seperately. So, for all of you snowbirds who say it's too cold to walk outside, and don't want to invest in a TM-there you go!!!!;)

FROG, got your e-mail, will do some investigating when I get a chance:) With the meds, def. talk it over with the Dr., all the pros and cons and see what you both come up with. If it's only the weight that's the problem, you know those are only numbers-but if there are other effects that bother you, then you have to make that decision whether to stay on them, or go off of them. Personally, this is one reason I don't use BC PILLS, I always feared the weight gain from them, even when I was 284lbs I didn't use them, like another few pounds was really going to matter when you weight that much! Have a wonderful anniversary tomorrow, enjoy your dinner together!!!!

LIZ, the STEVIA PLUS that I use most is in packets, but it does come in bulk (plastic jars) and it does come in liquid form, which comes in clear and natural (brown), those come in tiny bottles and that I have in my purse, when I go to a restaurant. The only thing I have found is down here, with the humidity, you need to keep the packets in a jar tightly covered. The packets are paper and pourus, so the humidity makes them cake up. I'm sure with keeping track of the packets you use, with the one you have having maltodextrin in it, you should be okay. I saw the post from that gal on SB, (if it's the same one I'm thinking) hope you two will be able to help each other out-would be nice to have someone so close.

HERE'S THE LINK FOR THE CHAT ROOM FOR TONIGHTS CHAT:

Again, I hope to be back in time, if not, start without me, I'll be in the chatroom as soon as I can!

Hello all,
I needed to post today because I will be gone for the next couple of days. I have field trips tomorrow and Thursday. I may be able to post in the afternoon but they always seem so busy for me.

I have been researching and looking at horses and I am so excited to tell you that I think I have found the perfect horse for my family. Her name is River Belles Jublilee. She is a Quarter horse and she has been breed to a beautiful light brown palamino. She will deliver in June 2002. I am so excited....we go up to check her out on Saturday. She is tame according to the guy who is selling her and he has to get rid of her because of his health. I can not wait ....I will keep you informed.

Deb......go for that job offer girl......sounds like it was tailor made for you. I love my agave...I have a special order waiting for me at the health food store .....I will pick it up tomorrow when I get back from Childrens Theatre.

TV......I have not seen u lately girl.....where have you been. I will be coming up your way Saturday....that is where the horse lives. She is about 2 miles from my brother. I replyed to your last email....did you get it?

Hello to all others......I hope to see you in chat tonight.

Happy Sugar Busting.

Love seeing all those pics!

Sending warm wishes to those under the weather. Is it even flu season yet!?

Thanks for sending a little bit of rain my way. I was parched! :)

Debelli - congrats on the consultation career! Is that $100/recipe + materials? I found a site you might be interested in - article: Outsourcing Projects 1999 -- <http://www.foodproductdesign.com/archive/1999/0899rd.html> I think you should find out more about salary and costs for consultants. After all, the company is saving A LOT of money going to an individual instead of paying a Food research & development company. Make sure you get a contract in writing! You might also consider a trial period (that way you or they can get out of it if it's too much trouble). Good luck! :)
Btw, I can't throw food out either. I just hate waste. Maybe your kids can bring it to school or give it to friends too. There's always some kid who forgot to eat breakfast!

BigK - I had a hard time finding the agave nectar too. I finally found it at Whole Foods (hidden among the honey). I didn't even know there was one in Phoenix.
I became so frustrated, after going to a bunch of little HFS that didn't carry it that I went online and got a list of HFS. Then I started calling. The third one acted like it was nothing unusual, "...of course we have that, unless I was looking for a specific brand..." :D
Btw, do you think your coworker feels left out since she's not doing SB, and all the others are?

BusDeb - if you get the horse, don't forget to submit a pic for all of us to Ooh and Aah

Thunder - Good luck to your DH in the job hunt!

Solshine - how's the new job?

They're talking lay offs at my work!!!! Even if I keep my job, the workload will increase. It had finally become manageable, and now this! They're blaming it on the recession and Sept 11. Is anyone else getting this line?

I just ordered some Otneva Dry milk powder (canister and packets). You can use it like creamer, but it's made with real powdered milk (w/o corn syrup and oils!). Can't wait for it to come in.
Also, I found some agave necter online (brew shop). They had a 6lb bucket for $16 + shipping (don't know what that is yet). I feel comfortable buying from brew shops because you wouldn't believe how discriminating brewers are. I know, I was one. The wrong amount, or wrong ingredient, or lack of clean technique, and you've just shot a 1-1/2 cases of homebrew. :D I'll let you know if they're any good.

I had to miss chat and I feel so left out. Hubby got a call from work so he had to get online and fix a problem. I missed you guys. I will look at posts when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

Tree.....I am interested in the bigger size agave nectar....let me know how that come out. I have pictures now of the horse but they are too big to post. I have to figure out how to reduce them. Debelli usually does it for me. She is such a sweetheart.

Cya all tomorrow......

Enoyed a fun chat tonight. Sorry to have missed those who couldn't make it.

Good luck to all with WIW

DEB - responded to your email. check it when you can.

BUSDEB - a horse, how exciting. I used to take English riding lessons (as an adult) and LOVED it! I took after work and often rode with a group of elementary and middle school girls. Owning a horse has always been a dream of mine. I asked for one for my 5th birthday and didn't understand why we couldn't tie it up to the swing set in our 1/2 acre, fenced-in, suburban neighborhood!

More tomorrow.

Night!

hi again, had a really fun time in the chat room. i didn't know if i should type or just try to read everybodys posts. it was confusing at first i need to type faster, that is a definite. i did find the last
two bottles of agave nectar at the wild oats here in melboune fl. we tend to eat out a lot, i have gotten a lot more assertive in ordering what i can eat. i can see by the chat room and the different posts how successful you have all been. i am learning that planning ahead is the key.
i will mark jan 6 on my calendar, it should be fun for all to get together, i love orlando.
bye for now.your new friend,

Hi everyone

I had a pleasant surprise when I arrived home from work to-day. There were four bags of leaves sitting at the end of my driveway. My dear dil had raked them up while I was at work to-day. I thought I would be spending most of
next weekend raking but now most of it is done. She's coming back maybe tomorrow with my gs to do some more. For him it's fun.

I've been AWOL for almost a week but I have been working so much more than usual. To-day was my sixth straight day. By the time I was able to sit down at the computer I've been too pooped to post. I'm off tomorrow, so hope to have a relaxing day. Have to get to the hairdresser sometime during the day and to badminton in the evening.

Deb - That sounds like a wonderful opportunity to work at developing recipes for the Agave company. I'm sure you could do a good job. I have no idea what you should charge but it looks like you have had quite a bit of feedback on this already. How about giving some of the items you make to friends or relatives then freezing what's left. If you freeze some you'll have something handy to take to friends or relatives when you visit. There's no way I could throw away good food, particularly when you know there are so many hungry people in the world. I have a Leslie Sansone Walk Aerobics tape. I think it is great. I used it a lot last winter. Just started doing it again - only once so far though. Have to get with it again but have been kind of busy lately. I have to stop finding excuses for not exercising.

Melf - Glad you liked the zucchini omelet. I haven't made it for a while - you've given me an idea for breakfast tomorrow.

Mel - Great pics of you and the family. Can certainly see a difference in the 'before' and 'after' pics. You're looking very slim in the latest one. I visited the Lake District when I was in the UK in June. It's a very beautiful area.

Frog - I enjoyed reading your comments on how your life has changed during the past year on SB and I wholeheartedly agree that this is a great group of people.

BigKnightsMomma - Welcome to the board. It's a great group here. Everyone is very supportive. I'm a nurse too - I work in long term care.

Zanne - Hope you and ds are feeling better.

Thunderwoman - I hope the job interviews go well for your dh tomorrow. Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better.

Solshine - I hope you are enjoying your new job.

I'm not looking forward to weighing in in the morning. I messed up a bit to-day. There was a party at work to-day for one of the residents who just had his 85th birthday. I only intended having some fruit but I ended up eating a couple of small baked goodies followed by some chicken in half a mini pita - this was after my SB legal lunch. That wasn't too bad, but this evening my son comes home with an ice cream for me (Dairy Queen, my favourite.) Anyway I'll know in about 7 hours what effect it had.

I wish everyone well for WIW.

Nite.

Marie.

Morning All

It's not quite 5:30 in the morning! There was no point in me going back to bed. DH gets up in a few minutes for work and that would have woke me up anyway. I'll go back to bed when he leaves.

DS had a bad fever and terrible coughing yesterday. DH took him to the clinic. Turns out DS has infected tonsils and ears. Poor kid. I had taken him to a clinic a few weeks ago and he was given antibiotics, but when the doc last night saw how much, she said the dose was too low for a kid his size (just turned 4 and is 50 lbs) I guess it was good enough to just relieve the symptoms, but then the little germies came back with a vengence. So now he's on a dose double the strength. I was having trouble getting his fever down, even with tylenol, lightweight jammies, freezies and a fan blowing on him. He was still burning at 4 this morn, so I got him into a cool bath. That seemed to do the trick. He had a ball playing in the tub. It just really burns my butt, that he has to suffer. If the first doc had given him a bigger dosage, then we might not have had to go thru all this.

Again than you everyone for your well wishes. I think we will finally be getting better.

I didn't like the scale this morning, but it was better than I expected. I've been terrible the past couple of days, so actually I'm surprised there's not more than the 2 lb gain I already knew was there.

I was really hungry this morning, so I made a tuna salad roll. Mmmm, yummy. Now if I can just keep making good choices like that today, I'll be on my way to getting on track again. I've printed out a lot of recipes from the boards, so I'm hoping those will inspire me too.

I've been in the frame of mind to exercise the past couple of days, but no energy. I hope that momemtum keeps up too.

Ok, well, DH is up, I'm gonna make my way back to bed. Thanks for listening.

At work so I gotta be brief!!!

This morning hubby woke me and told me that there was fesh hot coffee in the kitchen, but that if I wanted it I had to come out there (his sweet way of helping me wake up in the mornings). So when I get to the coffee cup there is one of those pretty robin's egg blue boxes with a white ribbon! That mean's only one thing TIFFANY'S!!! I was sooooo surprised, we had agreed to pool our anniversary funds to put toward the Disney trip.

Inside the box was a beautiful silver necklace that matches the bracelet he gave me for my birthday in June. He REALLY surpirsed me and was so happy that he pulled it off. It is hard to surprise me and sometimes he isn't super-stealth about this kinda thing. Can't say that anymore now. :D He's an

Gotta run!

Morning Ladies! Did you miss me! :D
I've been a bit under the weather the past few days. I feel better today though.

Mel - love the pics!

Debelli - YEA!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! So glad to hear of the offer! Your plan sounds great! I agree with the others that the ingredients/supplies should be extra. They should be willing to supply you with all the ingredients for testing the recipes.

I forgot to weigh this am.:o But I did weigh on Monday and I was down a pound so I was excited!

Ok.... I found a agava jelly at Publix It's not too bad, but still can't find the nectar syrup. Does anyone have any idea where I could find it in Georgia?

Planning a big yard sale sat. with my sis in law sure hope we do well!
Well better get to work!

I'm up 1 for WIW today which just adds to my depressing mood. I am sick and tired of losing 1, gaining it back, losing it again, etc, etc, etc! I have only actually lost 1.5 lbs in about 2 months now! I've become so frustrated that it has gotten very hard to stay on program! Its like whats the use - I can maintain without being so strict on myself! Cheating dosn't seem to be a factor. Its time for me to have my thyroid bloodwork done again this week, so maybe this is still causing me to stall, but I'm very close to just falling off and forgetting all about the wagon!!!

I'm trying really hard to get my water in and some exercise, but these are my biggest struggles. I just keep thinking that if I can do these 2 things, it would make the biggest difference - but I can be all geared up to exercise when I leave work and by the time I get home, I just want to go to bed! Maybe its the time change or just plain depression. I look at the calendar and see the holidays coming and absolutely dread it all. I miss my Daddy so much these days that I think I'm going to explode. Maybe I should take the doctor up on his offer to give me something (non-habit forming, of course) to help me through the rough times?? I just don't know...... all I really know is that I wish I could find a way out of this hole I seem to be in! TOM is coming too, just terriffic:(

BusDeb - yes, I got your message, I've just been keeping to myself. The lunch thing went fine last week, she brought her wedding pictures. I'm hoping that they will be able to patch things up. I'll send you an email a little later.

Deb - Sounds like a really great opportunity for you - GO FOR IT!

Where is BOB??

Sorry for such a negative post, just feeling really blue and can't help it.

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone:wave:

I was all dressed and ready to go for my walk this morning, but honestly, I didn't feel like going - SO I DIDN'T! I just felt tire, not sleepy tired, but just tired, guess I can't explain it in words. It was such a beautiful and slightly cool morning, you'd think I'd of been able to talk myself into going, even for a shorter than usual walk, but I couldn't and you know what, I don't even feel guilty about it:eek: So instead, I went through some of the fridge, cleaning and tossing away some interesting things that look like science experiments!

THANKS to FROG, SEF, MEL * BIGK for coming out for chat last night-always a pleasure to get to "talk" to you all in somewhat of a "real time":)

Okay, so it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!! How'd everyone fair? Far better than I, I hope! I'm still up from last week, not agonizing about it, as long as I stay below 125 I'm happy:D

BUSDEB, WOW! A horse?!? That sounds wonderful. So actually, you'd be getting a 2-4-1 deal? We missed you at chat!!! Send the pic, I'll be happy to try and resize it for you.

LIZ, did you get to do the exercise with the show this morning? You'll see, it def. helps when you exercise! CONGRATS on another 2.5lbs gone-you go girl!!!

TREE, thanks for the wonderful tips on the "job" as well as the site-I'm going to check it out upon my return home later today. They want to hire me as an independent contractor. I don't know how to approach them to get something in writing-this is a whole new ballgame for me! I have the OTNEVA here at home, never used it, got it for others to try. LMK what they charge for shipping-if need be, I have a few brew companies who sell agave syrup in my files.

BIGK, glad you made it to the chat room-you did great! :D Congrats on finding the agave, now, to decide what to use it in making-you'll be the envy of all the gals at work-it's like liquid gold!!! Def. planning ahead makes a big difference and being specific of what you want and don't want at a restaurant is important. You can definitely eat out and stay on this WOE easily, as long as you plan ahead. Outback is one of my fav. places and I know I can always stay OP when I go there :)

ROSALIE, ZANNE, MEL, FROG, NASCAR & TV gotta post to you later-have to jump in the shower, meeting Eli in half-hour for lunch at SHORTY'S!!!

Bummer! I'm up 2 lbs this week. I guess all that Halloween candy caught up with me.:( Hope all of you have a better WIW than me.'

TV: Sorry you're so down. I know it doesn't seem like things will ever get easier, but does. The voice of experience here. Daddy's been gone nearly five years and I still miss him terribly, but look forward to the day I'll see him again. And I have the notion that he can see what's going on here. All the things that I wish I could tell him about my heathen children.:dizzy: I don't know if that's good Baptist theology or not, but I don't care.:s: As far as getting the dr. to prescribe something--go for it. Things got really bad for me last year and I finally went to my dr. He gave me sarafem (the same thing as prozac) and it has made me a new woman! I had gotten to the point that I didn't even like being around my kids and especially Dennis. But this med has made all the difference in the world. Going through the stress that you have can really mess up the body's chemistry and make you depressed. OK. Enough from Dr. Tina:)

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi ALL!

Not much time to post this morning, but wanted to check in & say hi. I'm still up a lb from my all time low. At 141 today. It was 140 yesterday & I was hoping it would stick, but alas, it did not. Well, it will happen eventually.

Got alot going on here at the house. My brother has been here since early yesterday morning to start a long awaited project of repairs on the house & some new additions. Will elaborate late. We thought we had some termits, but the guy came out this morning & found no evidence of any. Just water damage, thank the Lord. That is bad enough as we have found the supports under the porch are just about all rotted out from the moisture. So it looks like almost the whole porch will be replaced when we thought only a few boards need to be replaced.

I'm off to the dentist, so I'll check in later. Hope WIW has been good to all of you. Will try to read when I get back. Sorry I missed chat last night, but had a much needed evening with the check book if you know what I mean. Things were in need of attention. later...

HiHo all!!

I am trying to pace myself a little better. Today I did my choir music thing, while in office to make copies a friend was there stuffing envelopes for Stewardship, so when I was done gave her a hand. She said she thought she would be there all morning doing dull work. But it went quickly and was fun cause I helped. She's a nice lady. I usually ride to WA meetings with her.

Then I went to Sam's and had to come home and put all that stuff away (hate that). Tonight is choir practice so am trying to take it easy now. Leftovers for supper!

Want y'all to know I really enjoyed the chat last night. It's nice to be able to get instant replies and get to know each other better.

ZANNE - Your poor son! You feel so helpless when it's your child. I hope the meds take hold and he's feeling better soon. Take care of yourself, where would everyone be if you were down?

I tell you, that Southern Comfort will help. I really like it. I always say I want to be buried in a red dress with a glass of Southern Comfort in one hand and a needle in the other!

MEL - We don't get much leaves but 8" pine needles and pine cones floating in the pool can be a mess. They get in the gutters just as bad as leaves. I may miss the fall leaves, but am sure that after a few swipes with the rake I would remember what a job they are! Loved your pics.

THUNDER - The hottest thing I ever had was black pepper soup in a Chinese Restaurant in Turkey. The waiter indicated that some oil from a bowl on the table was good in the soup. It was red chili oil (Ididn't know). Let me tell you, I cried, my nose ran, the ear wax melted, my face was as red as can be.........but it was soooo good!

FROG - We'll be discouraged together about seesaw weight. It has nothing to do with cheating. I think our bodies have to stop and catch up with things now and then. Yet I keep plugging along and so will you, because in the long run we know we can do it. Definitly check with doctor about meds, then can affect many things in our systems. What a sweet dh. Nice he pulled it off. Belated Happy Anniversary!

BUS - Always wanted a horse. When I was younger used to be around horses a lot. If she's carrying a foal you'll be getting two for the price of one.

ROSALIE - What a nice dil. I'm lucky that way too. In MIlford we burned them for years, then they put a ban on it. I know it's better for the environment, but there's something about burning leaves.....or maybe my memories are better thatn the facts!

NASCAR - Of course we missed you! Hope you will be up to snuff soon.

TV - NoNoNoNo, you hang onto that wagon for dear life. After my husband died I went through a very rough time. Finally a Social Worker at work took me aside, told me all my friends were worried about my behavior. Because of that dear woman who volunteered to talk to me for them all (we were a close knit staff) I went to doctor who prescribed antidepressant and also to a grief support group. It made a world of difference. I was only on the meds less than a year but it sure helped. Please see your doctor.

Don'y be sorry for doing a "down" post, we can't be bright eyed and bushy tailed 24/7, we're friends that care about each other.

MUSIC - Too bad about the gain. But don't let it get you down. Read the post to Frog. We'll make it!

MELF - The trouble with renovations and repairs.......they cause more renovations and repairs!!! You paint one room and the next looks dingy and so on.

Hope dentist visit goes good. Hope I didn't miss anyone!

Time to put feet up a bit, may just catch 40 winks!!

Take care all.

I am home for a little while. Seems lately I spend more time on the road than anywhere else. We went on the field trip this morning and will go back to the same place tomorrow. I love these back to back trips.....NOT!
Tomorrow night is Ladies Night out and I am so excited we are going to a Japanese Steak House that I love. I hope I can be good. :)
I got on the scales this morning.........up 2 pounds but was expecting that after my unusual 4 pound lose last WIW. So I am not complaining at all.....just wish I had stayed the same.

Thanks for all the comments about the possible adoption of my horse. She looks really good in her picture and if after going to see her this weekend we decide to get her I will post a picture of her and the stallion who she is bred to. He is a gorgeous creature. I am very excited can you tell??;)

Music teach .....you and are in the same 2 lb club this week.:( We will lose them and more this next week .....I feel it.

Deb ......not working.....I thought I felt the earth shake a little. LOL

TV......I hope your spirits get better soon. I will be praying for you hon.....and you write whenever you feel like it. I will be in Athens this Saturday taking a look at the horse....wish I had time to come by and meet you but we soon.

Nascar.........glad you are feeling better ....we have missed seeing you.

Frog .......your anniversary surprise sounded wonderful.....it is amazing how they come up with this stuff every so often....sorta changes your whole outlook about em doesn't it. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

Liz......way to go girl......great numbers for WIW.....keep up the hard work.

Mel........good going on the weight lose for the week. Sorry I missed talking with you on chat last night. I was so bummed :(

Zanne.....glad things are improving with your family.....you were almost up as early as me. LOL

Hello to everyone else.....Happy Sugar Busting.

Cya,
Debbie :)

Have a few minutes while dh walks the fur child before going out to dinner.

He is still all puffed up from pulling off a stellar surprise! It really made me feel special!

WIW was a BUST! I am up to 157, think I weighed that last in April or earlier. That is another increase, up 1.5 from last week and 9 pounds from my lowest in July. With that little tidbit, I called the doc and asked how to get off this mess! I will begin going from 50 mg to 25 mg starting tonight. Then I will call the doc back on Monday for more info. Meanwhile, I have a check-up with the internist on Fri and plan to asl for his advice on the matter. I am through with thisi Rx. Thanks to all the hunting on the web that DEB did regarding Rx, I was able to determine that this Rx does have the side-effect of unexplained weight gain and bloating, and increased desire for sweets. Seeing how I have almost every side-effect of this med, why wouldn't I also have the weight gain? I HONESTLY don't beleive that I have eaten so poorly that I have gained 9 pounds while exercising on a regular basis.

Hooray for those of you who lost or maintained. For those of you who gained as I did, I will scoot over in the boat and we can all go on the "Pity Party Cruise" together.

Looking forward to a nice dinner with sweet dh. May even get dessert if the mood strikes me. Will talk to all again tomorrow or Fri.

TV - You sound like you are experiencing a real low. I would encourage you to talk to your doctor. The holidays can really bring the hurt from the loss of a loved one to the surface, and then with TOM on top of that, you need a break kiddo. Depression is more than a case of the "blues." And there is nothing wrong with prescribed assistance from the doc and the pharmacist. My Mom was very much like you not all that long ago. When she saw the doc he talked to her for quite a while, then got out his Rx pad and dramatically improved her life. She is much happier these days. Even if meds aren't in your future, you may feel better for having shared what you are feeling with your doc. You know yourself best, but if you are not "yourself" these days, it may be hard for you to be objective. Do you know someone, a close friend or relative that you could talk to about this and get some honest feedback? That may help you feel more grounded and assistance in determing what the next steps should be. I like what SEF had to say about her experience. It is true that sometimes others notice changes in us before we do. Hang in there and remeber that God never gives us more than we can handle. Take care of you! I'll keep a good thought for you.

Peace,

hi everyone,
it was great chatting last nite. i did not make it to my favorite scale at the hospital today as i was off, i will weigh on friday and will post then. i spent most of the afternoon doing errands and i was on a mission to find sugarbusting ingredients to expand my cooking. i did find at publix the pizza that big orange babe mentioned a few days ago. it is by HEAVENS BISTRO and it was heavenly, i had the grilled vegies and added a little more mushrooms,YUMMY! i haven't had pizza since the early part of sept. this was really good. i found stevia at another health food store, they didn't have the agave stuff. could someone guide me to a site where i could find some easy and simple recipes for these items? i also found some pretzels with peanut butter, i have had these off and on since i started. they are by Natural GH Foods. i take these to the UCF football games to munch on when everbody else is eating what i call the stadium food. these pretzels are 140 cal for 8 pieces, they remind me of those combo things. the ingredients are stone ground 100%whole wheat flour, peanut butter (they say is 100%pure and natural) salt and baking soda. they have 2g of sugar per serving. please tell me these are o.k.
my son was totally embarassed and pleased with his surprise birthday cake. we will see him tomorrow, he comes home for a long weekend.
will be gone most of tomorrow, will post hopefully a loss on friday.

bye for now

UGH! I had a post started and wouldn't you know it, my computer froze-something was wrong with a download in my files and when I tried to open it up, that was it, so I lost my post, so here I go again!

I ate like a pig today, nothing seemed to satisfy me, it happens at least once a month. I may overeat, but at least I stay OP while I do it!;) I can tell you now though, the scale will be up, up and away tomorrow morning!!!!

My Mom came over today, we baked a SB LEGAL CAKE, I personally didn't care for it, not sure why though. Wouldn't you know it, but Michael actually did like it-go figure! I don't think I'll submit it for the agave recipes.

I went with my neighbor for a 3.5 mile leisurely walk this evening. I figured I better get some exercise after all I ate, even if it was a slow walk. Anyhow, I was telling her about my new "job prospect" and she said something that I hadn't thought of. She mentioned if I were entering a recipe contest and won, usually you get $250 or more if you win, so to think of it in that respect-any thoughts??? When she put it like that, it made my $100 + hourly wage, plus ingredients seem reasonable moreso.

Hoping to get to bed a little earlier tonight, hoping to have that urge back to walking tomorrow morning-bothered me that I didn't want to go today.

ROSALIE, it sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends. Hope you made it to your badminton game and the hairdresser! What a nice thing for you DIL to do the leaves for you! Thanks for the idea of freezing some of the stuff, but if it's good, I'll eat it, frozen or not-maybe not as fast, but the better it is the faster. My best bet is to get taste-testers to eat it, QUICKLY! Now, the cake I made tonight, had 2 2.5 ounce pieces, but I won't be attacking it as I don't care for it as much as say, the cookies I made the other day. Ummm, do I need to have a talk with you DS? Dairy Queen????

ZANNE, hoping DS is doing better and better as the hours go on-def. not fun for anyone to be sick. Don't worry about the small gain, you can get it back off quickly:)

MEL, you go girl, another pound-CONGRATS!!!

FROG, oye, what a wonderful surprise DH gave you-what a guy. I've never met him and I like him already:D How was dinner? I hope you both enjoyed your Anniversary and the evening you spent together. Did you ask the Dr. when you start weaning yourself off the meds how long it will take to see some results on the scale, or is he totally clueless to this? I'm sure the Internist will have some better insight for you on this matter, at least I hope he/she will. It would be different if it was providing relief, but what's the use if it's not, surely there must be an alternative to this med and it's wonderful side effects!

NASCAR, of course you were missed;) Hope you're feeling better. CONGRATS on another pound. That's great news. Ummm, are you sure of what you bought? I've never heard of AGAVE JELLY! Are you sure you didn't buy GUAVA JELLY?

TV, sorry to hear about the funk you are in. Is there anything I can do to help? If you want, send me a typical day menu, maybe I can pinpoint something. Or, it may very well be medical and maybe your Dr. will be able to answer some of your concerns. Don't give up on the ship just yet, I'm sure we can get to the root of the problem.

MUSIC, I'm with you, I truly believe there's something after you pass on-a reason I'm so hooked to John Edwards show CROSSING OVER. If you've not read GEORGE ANDERSONS books, I recommend them-they're what got me into believing. PLUS, my Grandmother came to me about 5-6 years ago and it DEFINITELY wasn't a dream! Unfortunately, she hasn't come back ever again.:(

MELF, how'd the Dentist appt. go today? Thank goodness you don't have termits, though water damage is bad enough.

SEF, I think you and ROSALIE should have a contest on who can do more than the other-you two really keep yourself busy! I know being active is good as you get older, keeps the mind and body active;)

BUSDEB, enjoy LADIES NIGHT tomorrow-sounds fun. I'm sure you can stay totally legal at a Japanese Rest., more so than Chinese, I'd think.

BIGK, you and BOB like that pizza, so I'll definitely search at my Publix next time I'm there. I keep saying I'll make one, but I never do get around to doing it. Are you asking for recipes to be able to use the STEVIA in? As for the agave, there's load of recipes on our RECIPE BOARDS using agave syrup, but on the web, you won't find too many-I guess that's why I'm here-to develope some:) I guess when we all meet in Janurary, we'll have to do some taste-testing of some stuff I'll bring up with me:eek: I'm sure you'll all be willing subjects-RIGHT? I've bought those pretzels you have and they are totally SB LEGAL. I usually only have 2 when I eat them, just as a treat-just watch that you don't eat too too many, you can lose track and not realize that you've eaten a few servings. Have a wonderful visit with your son, and good luck on the scale on Friday.

Ladies, my MAN is home, so going to spend some time with him. AMAZING RACE isn't on for some reason, so I guess I'll be hitting the hay earlier than I thought.

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY! If you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please try to post them tomorrow. Would like to see some recipes that can be used for the holidays.

Have a great evening!

Hi all:wave:

Didn't lose or gain this week but did lose a few inches. My clothes are getting looser and looser. :) I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm feeling great today. The sinus has cleared up great. Still have a little cough at nite but not enough to bother me very much.

Debbie the pecan pie my hubby made turned out ok. But next time I told him we would have to toast the pecans first. We substituded splenda for reg sugar and in place of the Karo Syrup we used Smuckers Pancake Syrup. I think he cooked it a little to long it had no juice at all I like mine a little moister. The crust turned out great. We used the recipe off the Karo Syrup bottle. It needs a little adjusting. We will have to work on it a little more. The taste was great tho. Glad you'll didn't get blowed away.

Sef that was so funny, I would say that was really hot stuff!!!;)

TV hope you get to feeling better. We all go thru a period of haveing bad times. But keep on keepin on don't give up. Hope the tests come out ok. We all have to have someone to listen. I know I do sometimes. May the lord bless you and have a better day...ok.

My hubby had 2 interviews today and one doesn't start for another 2 weeks but the other is supposed to call by Friday. Please everyone pray for us that he gets the Friday one. Thanks for all the support you ladies give me. I don't know what I would do without it. If I missed responding to everyone please forgive me.

Congrats to all the losers this week. And those of us that didn't lose keep on keepin on. It will sneak up on us and leave the scales going down, down, down.

Well ladies gotta go. Everyone take care and happy losing.

Nite Nite!

Hey ya'll, I posted a new picture on the picture board from our vacation in OK a few weeks ago. I'm really bummed out cause some of them are double exposed. Not sure what happened. Didn't get the actual pictures yet, just in the email, so I'm hoping the final pics will be better, but anyway, this is me at present!

Good evening everyone

No changes to report this week. Still hanging in at 195. To-day just flew by. I stayed up late last nite and ended up sleeping in this morning. A few minutes after I got up my dil and gs were at the door. They had been around earlier, while I was sleeping, and raked up some more of my leaves for which I am very thankful. I went to badminton this evening and played a few games. It was a good workout. I wish I could get more sessions in but it often coincides with days I have to work. Hope to get in more in the new year as there are some other sessions I can book up for. While I was at the hairdresser to-day I copied a recipe for a coleslaw salad which I made this evening. It turned out quite well so will post the recipe as soon as I can get it typed up.

Zanne - Sorry to hear about ds. I hope now he's on a bigger dose of meds that things will clear up quickly. I'm sure once things settle down for you and you are feeling better that those two pounds will quickly come off again.

Frog - What a lovely surprise from hubby. He sure sounds like a great guy. Hope you enjoyed your anniversary dinner. It's a real bummer what some meds can do to our bodies. I hope things turn around for you soon.

Nascar - Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Tv - Sorry to hear you are feeling so down. Do you know if there is a bereavement support group in your area? Sometimes talking things over with others who have also lost a loved one can be helpful. Also maybe it is time to get a little help from the doctor with some medications.

Melf - How did it go at the dentist this morning? It's almost time for me to make an appointment - something I don't look forward to.

Sef - It was nice that you helped your friend with the envelope stuffing. Having company doing a boring job always makes it more enjoyable - as well as getting it done quicker.

Deb - I wouldn't worry about missing your walk this morning. Sounds like you made up for it this evening even if it was a slower walk than usual. At least you got some of the house chores done. That's what I have to get down to soon. It's so easy to keep putting it off. I can always think of more interesting things to do. There's one more response that could have been added to this weeks question - like "I'm too lazy".
(That would have been my response.)

All for now.

Marie.

Ok, WIW - lost 1-2 more lbs! At 139lbs now. Yay! Congrats to all the losers, and to all those who didn't lose, but keep going anyway! We can do this together! This board is so supportive, and everyone's dedication certainly helps me to continue.

ROSALIE - Oh yum! Dairy Queen! I don't know that I could resist DQ either. My fav is german chocolate blizzard - none of that yogurt version either, it has to be ice milk! My only saving grace is DH would not go there because he's lactose intolerant, and I can't go there JUST for myself, especially since I started SB.

I wonder if I could make that into an SB legal smoothie? Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. At least your DS doesn't work there, that would be really hard!

Sometimes that wagon keeps getting away from us...

Debelli- your friend had a good idea re: winnings for recipe contests. I guess the first thing is to ask them what they are planning to offer. Then pause, and say "Hmmm...." This is a great negotiating tool. Because you didn't just jump at it, they need to reconsider it themselves. Sometimes that gets you a little more. Sometimes not, but it doesn't hurt. :) Definitely get something in writing - even if it's:

"Debelli will be paid xxx for each recipe submitted, and also be reimbursed for supplies. Signed Debelli + Signed Agave Company.

Gotta go, it's getting late. But one last note -

Warm wishes to all the snifflers, and bluesy ones.
I've dubbed Mr. Chinchilla to be a "chin up" mascot for us all. Hang in there! We're rooting for you!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:

Thank goodness I felt like my normal:?: self today. Got in my 4.5 miles in 50:08, not too bad. Was worried that it was going to rain on me, just gave a few sprinkles, nothing I would of stayed home for.

Funny, when I look back a year ago in my WC PROGRAM, I had put in this little note (edited): NEWER BEST WALK EVER!!!!!! Unbelieveable that i could beat my last best time - 4.5 miles in 1 hour 1 minute 5 seconds. After reading that, I realized just how far I've come in the past year, not just on the scale, but in my exercise as well-just though I'd share:)

Scale is up 2.5lbs from my low now, 1lb from yesterday, but I expected that-between eating like a cow yesterday and mid-cycle 4 days away, usually the scale goes up for me. I don't feel anywhere as hungry as I did yesterday, which is good.;)

THUNDER, congrats on losing inches, just as important as pounds! Would be interested in seeing your crust recipe-going to try and make a pecan pie with agave syrup for Thanksgiving, will see if I can post the recipe before that time. Good luck to DH in the job area-please, let us know how things go!

MELF, or shall we call you SKINNY?!? And a side shot at that! I don't think I've done a side view in my life-thanks for sharing!!!

ROSALIE, hey, congrats for not going up this week, but holding your own. I'm sure a loss is gearing up in your body. Glad to hear you got in your badminton:) Thanks for posting the recipe for the coleslaw, looks good-will ask my Mom to make it for me :s: You LAZY? I would never think of you as being as such-you and SEF make ME look lazy!!!

TREE, CONGRATS on this weeks loss, and for getting under the 140 mark! You need to change your numbers at the end of your post to reflect the new numbers:) FYI, Eli is Lactose Intolerant as well-so, tell DH he can eat the Carbolite when you get some-there's no dairy in there-Eli loves it!!! The gal didn't know what to say when I asked her what she thought was fair-she told me to come up with those figures-nothing like putting me on the spot, eh? But I will get something in writing to the effect you posted-thanks! LOVED THE CHINCHILLA!!!

Going to go get something to eat for breakfast now-will look threw some recipes and see what I can get posted sometime later today - any requests for anything special???

Have a wonderful day!

HiHo all!!!

Just thought I check in and see what was happening before I finish dressing. I go to nuring home this morning. Then I need to make something for a covered dish supper tonight. I've been invited to attend it to find out more about Habitat for Humanity. I was approached about volunteering to write for the newsletter and do publicity articles.

DEB - RE: Throwing the food away, although it sounds like a solution to throw away the food, I wouldn't be able to do it. Like someone else I was brought up to "eat your food, there's children starving in Europe". I want yiou to know I saved hundreds of lives.

BTW I forwarded the article you sent me to the minister.

I went to choir last night and came home really upset. One of the members practically attacked our director, telling her she didn't like the way music was presented (for the contata we are singing to tapes as we did last year). The director has started a band and they have played twice now, she hoped the service was the place for band. The director was very polite but she was almost in tears (in the parking lot she was), when someone spoke up with another opinion that music was okay it started to get ugly. This is a Christian outlook? The director had even had liturgical dancing by some young people. I think she is trying to bring new life to the music of the church. Many churches have such programs. The director handled herself with dignity but you could tell she was stunned. The complainer is an old timer in the church and also feels that no one cares what they like. etc etc etc. I want to smack upside the head!!

Sorry! Nothing to do with SB, just that I'm perturbed!

Take care.

Rosalie

Good morning :)

Well, I took a hint from Rhroo this morning and put on my shorts and exercise shoes soon as I got up so had no excuse not to do some exercises. I've just finished SS Two Mile Walk video. Now I need to get out the vacuum cleaner - it was a toss up what to do first and exercise won. Now I don't know if I have time for the cleaning as I have to get out to do some shopping. The dust will still be there tomorrow :D - too bad I have to work tomorrow.

Deb - You have sure come a long way with your walking times. Congrats. Regarding the contract offer. I would suggest that you ask for a little more than what you think is reasonable. Think of it like selling a house. You always start off a bit higher than you expect to get so you have some leeway if you are offered less. If you suggest what is reasonable and she immediately agrees you will wonder if you could have gotten more.

Melf - A great picture. You look so slim.

Sef - It's good to know they want you for Habitat but it seems you are involved in so many volunteer activities already. One person can only do so much. Don't forget you need some quiet time for yourself and your hobbies so you don't get burnt out. I think it is wonderful that you are involved in so much.

Have to get moving if I am to get out this morning.

Congrats to all the losers this week. The rest of us just hang in there. Hopefully our turn will come.

It IS Thursday, isn't it? These past 2 weeks have FLOWN by!!

I LOVE my job and my team. It's a great bunch of people. We're working on month end reporting so I don't have much time to post, but wanted to at least check in.

BKM - WELCOME! I'm in the Orlando area, too. Near the Oviedo Mall. I get my agave nectar from Economy Too on Hwy 434 in Winter Springs. It's between 17-92 and 419 on 434. They have the FERN cake mixes and other good stuff there. They will also order anything you want. I haven't found the nectar at Chamberlins or Whole Foods. In fact, getting any information from the people at WF was so frustrating I just gave up. I'm not too happy with them.

I had to quit the gym that GATORGAL and I go to 'cause it's just too far away from home and work. It was across the street from work, but now it's just not convenient. :( I'm looking at the Gold's Gym right around the corner from my house. Working so much and being off schedule I'm up to 197.5 - that's 2 lbs. up and I'm not happy about it. Now I've got to do double time to catch back up with MARIE. I know it's because I haven't been drinking water, eating on plan or exercising. I'm surprised it isn't worse than it is.

MEL - what great pictures! Thanks for posting them. Y'all look like a real fun family. How's the job situation up in your neck of the woods looking? Good, I hope!

MELF - You look aweseome as ever - What beautiful nature around you, too!

Well, I've got to get back to work. everyone else!

Hi gals!

I'm sorry I don't have time to catch up but at least wanted to drop a note to Debbie SolShine and everybody else that I am still alive, more or less.

We are selling an annuity product that was supposed to close out at the end of the year. We got two weeks' notice that it was closing on Nov 16th and this morning, got a "blast fax" that it was closing on Nov 12th (Monday) instead!!!! Needless to say it has been an absolute mad rush to get clients in here and process apps. We have done more business this week than any other week in the three years I have been working here.

So when I get home it seems the last thing I want to do in the world is sit in front of the computer screen some more. I completely dropped out of my online life actually until somebody in my other forum offered to be co mod then I figured I better get on the ball! ;)

Small-kine news: my darling sister bought a pair of rollerblades and **** ON WHEELS finally has a partner!!! (OMG there are TWO of them!)

I did my first scuba dive last weekend. Very excited about it because despite growing up in Hawaii I have always been terrified of the ocean. Being almost completely blind doesn't help. So as I posted I finally got a prescription mask. Martin took me out to Ala Moana Beach, which is an extremely boring, murky place to scuba but is flat and calm, so we started there. I was absolutely terrified but didn't do too badly. I was surprised at how completely exhausted I was for three days after.

Next weekend he is going out with his buddies so I don't want to come along and slow them down. :( But I am very much looking forward to my next dive.

Okay I gotta go.

Love,

Chris

Evening All:wave:

Had a nice day, Mom came over last minute and we schmized around town, before we knew it it was time to go get Lauren from school, then Michael (he stayed after school today). Now, just waiting for the big boy to get home-hopefully, it won't be too late.

SEF, what did you end up making for the dinner tonight? Hope you enjoyed your evening! LOL, I too must of saved countless lives by not throwing food away!!! Don't let people like that person at church get to you-those types of people are just crouchety old farts!

ROSALIE, good for you for doing the tape, I bet you felt good afterwards;) Did you get in your vacuuming? Thanks for you input about the "job", I'm scared though that if I ask too much that I'll just bid myself right out of this, if I'd be happy with $100 a recipe, $15 an hour and the reimbursement of the ingredients, what would you think I should ask for to start???

SOL, so happy to hear you are enjoying your job-that's wonderful news! You'll have to let me know if that place where you get the agave is opened on the weekend when we will be coming to see FROG-would love to go. Have you ever gone to the Winter Park Farmers Mkt? Supposedly, this place carrys the CARBOLITE. Here's the link-give them a call (seems they're closed for a few weeks though). http://www.lowcarbdieters.com/market.htm I'm sure you'll get those couple pounds back off-do I need to pack my TRAVELING DETOX DUNGEON for when I come up????

SPARKLE, so glad to see your post:) When you get some time to breath, let us know what else is happening with you-how's the BFL going???

I've gotta run, doubt I will be back on to get the recipes on tonight, will work on that tomorrow morning sometime-Michael needs the computer for homework.

Have a great evening!

Oh man, I can't believe it's already Thursday. I totally forgot about chat Tuesday night and WIW yesterday. I did drop those 2 pounds early in the week so I feel better. The sinuses are better, too. The cool front finally blew through about 30 minutes ago so I'm hoping whatever's in the air will blow on towards you Louisiana Ladies! :dizzy:

TV: I don't know about losing a parent, but I do know how frustrating seesaw weight feels. Just try to be patient, know that you are staying OP and the weight will come off. And remember, you are eating the healthiest way there is and that's good for your body.

Deb: Congrats on the job offer. Don't know about culinary contract work, but my dh does technology consulting and can make anywhere from 75 - 150 an hour.

M & M: Loved the pics. The scenery is almost as good as the subjects! :)

Chris: Congrats on the dive! I would love it, but would be scared to death myself. When I went snorkling with my sister in Mexico this summer, I almost hyper-ventilated at first. It took a little while for me to get comfortable putting my face in the water with a mask over my nose. Hope you get your deadline met.

Congrats to all the losers, chins up to all the yo-yos, (that doesn't sound so good). TGIF!!!

I'm going to work on a pic of my DH and me before a fundraising dinner a couple of weeks ago. Wish me luck.

This was taken a few weeks ago. Maybe two, maybe three. We went to a western themed fundraising event for our area Pregnancy Resource Center. This one's better than the Mexico shot.

Where in the heck is everyone? Seems like a slow week on the board doesn't it?

Anniversary dinner was spectacular! Had coconut crusted fried shrimp, pinot noir, grilled pear salad with walnuts and some d-lish vinagrette, blackened grouper with lemon dill sauce and steamed broccoli, and a big ol slab of chocolate cake. Only have a 9th wedding anniversary with one husband once, so I went for it without regrets! :D

Haven't taken the necklace off yet! Went running tonight with it on. Had a good 6 mile run in 1:09. Pretty good for the flat footed beast trying to run in the dark. Everyone has leaves piled up on the sidewalks here and with all the hardwoods we have a ton of leaves and acorns on the roads and sidewalks. I really prefer to run in the early a.m. this time of year so that I can run in the street without dodging so many cars.

Last night I only took 1/2 of the Rx that I think is the culprit for the increased weight gain. It was amazing how much easier it was for me to wake up this morning. I have had MAJOR probs getting up for work since taking this stuff. Tomorrow I hope to find out more about how to taper and when I can quit taking this stuff. Don't know if internist doc will assist in that since gyno doc Rx'd it. I'll let y'all know. I also am to get routine blood test results tomorrow.

Now to reply to y'all

First of all, I want everyone to know how instrumental DEB has been in assisting me with information about the meds. She has generously offered to do research on this medication and even gone so far as to summarize articles in magazines that she has at her home. DEB, you are such a kind person. Big ol {{{{{HUGS}}}}} from Frog to you.

DEB - Do you have wings on your feet too? We know you have  wings! You're gonna be running that 2003 WDW marathon, I just know it!! You wait, you'll get the bug after seeing the runners in Jan! It's inspiring for me anyway.

SPARKLE - Sounds like you've been really busy. How fun that your sis has some blades too! You have the best places to skate there! Hooray for you that you went scuba diving! BTW - Did you happen to see the Elvira pics? Halloween party was great fun!

SOL - So happy to read that you are happy in your new job. Just great!

ROSALIE - My motto is "A bad day shopping is still better than a good day at work." That holds true for housework too! Glad you were able to get your exercise in!

SEF - I know how unnerving incidents like what happened at your practice can be. Perhaps the person who is unhappy would be happier serving the church in another capacity? Pray for him/her and the director too. I'm sure that the service will be beautiful if the Spirit is there.

TREE - You are being quite successful! Way to go. I agree with you that Deb should get something in writing. DEB, are you reading this?

We interrupt this post for this important message!!

An all points bulletin has been issued for BOB and NANCE. If you see or hear from either of these people, alert the authorities immediately! They are missed by their board-mates, and their rapid return is requested.

We now resume our regular posting schedule.

MELF - Enjoyed the pic! Sorry to hear that the others didn't come out. I am notorius for having that happen. Lost the camera bag with ALL of our honey moon pics except the ones still in the camera. Then I took 2 cameras to San Francisco and took the most with a camera that was borrowed from MIL. For some reason, NONE of the pics with her (Advantix) came out. Had some great shots of the Golden Gate and the light houses at Reyes and Bonita. I was sooooo sad that they didn't come out.

NASCAR - HEY!! Race season is almost over. Wish there had been more of a points race. Don't you? I was glad to see De Jr have such a winning year. Wish his Dad had been able to be there in person, rather than spirit, to share in it with him.

TV - Hope you are having a better day today.

JRED - What a cool pic! Your dh looks like a movie/tv star who played a cowboy detective. I wish I could remember his name. I wanna say it was Dennis something. Y'all look great. Handsome couple that you are. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Hey to BKM and Thunderwoman and everyone else!

Well ER is on and I want to go watch it. For those of you in different time zones! Survivor was great!

Have doc appt and hockey game tomorrow night, but I will make time to post after I come back from doc. Have 9:45 appt. Wish me luck!

GO Carolina Hurricanes! They won their game tonight against the Capitols! Woo Hoo!

Peace,
Frog

Hi everyone

I had a good afternoon out shopping and no, I didn't have time to do the vacuuming. By the time I got off the computer, did the dishes and finished preparing supper (I was using leftover spaghetti sauce with some curly macaroni so I cooked the macaroni this morning and had it ready to shove in the oven when I got home) it was about 11.30 so thought I had better get going. I bought a pair of black stretch pants which fit nice and snug. It feels so good to have pants that fit, the ones I have been wearing are getting baggy. I also bought a blouse in a size smaller than I had been wearing. I was so pleased I was almost doing a dance in the fitting room. I hope they didn't have a security camera on. I guess I must be losing some inches even though the pounds are very slow to come off.

Solshine - It's good to hear from you and to know the job is going well. Sorry about those couple of pounds but I am sure when you are settled and back on track again they will come off. I'm waiting for you!

Deb - When I made the comment about the contract I was just generalising - I really don't know what would be a good price to ask. Did you learn anything from the web site posted by Tree.

Frog - Your anniversary dinner sounds delicious. I hope your doctors visit goes well and you can get off the medication that is causing you problems.

Sparkle - It's good to hear from you. So now you can get out roller blading again. Must be more fun with company.

Jred - That's a great pic of you and hubby.

Have to finish this and hit the sack. Have to be up early in the morning for work but will be off for the weekend.

Bye for now

Marie.

HiHo All! Where did the day go?

Went to nursing home, then to store. Decided to make some bread pudding to take to the dinner tonight, I use ww bread and had some that was a few days old, which makes the best pudding. I really didn't feel like doing something that would take a lot of work.

At the dinner, except for the turkey and bread pudding there was not one thing that was OP. And that table was groaning with the weight of all the food. I met some of the homeowners and the Board. After the meal the Board had their meeting and I had to leave as my stomach has been rumbly all day. Let's just say I got home just in time! I did not say I would do it nut am invited to another meeting for the newsletter.

Deb, I know you're right about the crochety old fart. I always thought she was a nice lady that has strong opinions, but she definitely was not nice last night!! I called the Director today, of course got her darn machine. Told her I was sorry about last night and thought she was doing a good job. She has started a band that has played a couple of times, she had three girls do a litugical dance during one of our anthems and I think is forward looking without giving up tradition. As Frog says all need to be prayed for.

I did not stitch today, and a day without stitching is almost a day without sun! Well, maybe not that bad.

Well nature calls, see you all on Board tomorrow!

Take care.

Good Morning......I saw an ALLPOINTS BULLETIN from Frog and thought I better get my fingers-a-typing!

I'm alive, and have missed you all. I just seem to have gotten wrapped up ion my little world. Escaped from Dr. Evils office and
started on my new job on November 1st. I'm really happy there.
Dan the Man got a new job and he's loving it. He has his own office, cellular phone, a real hot shot now! Haven't had much luck with the refinancing on the house which is a slight bummer, but we're still plugging away!

Enough about that blah, blah, blah.....Since I last posted I think I was up to 228, and now I'm 226. My weight when I originally started SB. I have been walking, and am so thankful the weather is now normal around here!

I do much better when I post then when I don't, so hopefully I can get back in the habit again! It's not that I don't want to, life just seems hectic! I have to be to work earlier at my new job by a 1/2 hour, but that's quality puter time, so now I'm just getting up earlier!

Hope everyone is well!

Frog...I will go, and I will FIND BOB!!!!!! She must have fallen off the wagon like me, glad you took over the driving for her!

Hi guys. Just a quick hello to let all know I'm alive.
I've had a chance to do a brief look in from time to time but no time to read and respond to posts. So nice to see all the new names and all the old faithful ones.

Frog you must be lean and mean by now. Nancy I'm estatic (sp?) over your new job. So happy for you.

I've been good. Down to 153 now. Although from time to time I do allow myself a piece of Papa John's pizza. (twice) Once on Halloween which I think was a fair trade for not one piece of candy. (I knew if I ate even one small one it would be all over).

Anyway, I miss all of you and will be back in touch asap.

For all my faithful friends thanks for the friends.

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:

What a glorious morning here in Miami-it's absolutely beautiful outside today. Got in my 4.5 miles with my SECOND BEST WALK/JOG TIME EVER! Did it in 48:10, and it felt great!!!:spin:

Back down a pound from my gain of a pound yesterday. Hoping I'll have a good WIW this coming week, mid-cycle always has me for a gain and then usually I'll drop afterwards, so that's coming up Monday/Tuesday:rolleyes:

Staying home today, or at least I think I will-started some laundry and going to tackle the family room, it's a wreck room:D If time permits, I'll tackle somewhere else in the house, probably my bedroom, which rarely gets messy, but I have a load of magazines lying around that I have to go through and clothes to put away, so it's getting a bit out of line. Certain parts of the house can look like a disaster, and others pristine.

With today being FRIDAY FACTS I thought I'd quote a section of Dr. Arnots book on WHITE FLOUR:

WHITE FLOUR

Eating pure white flour products is worse than mainlining sugar. "The body handles white flour like sugar by digesting it very quickly," says nutritional Scientist Dr. Luke Bucci. Dr. Judith Hall-firsch of the USDA says, "White flour is very efficiently absorbed. White bread is used as the base of the glycemic index by Jenkins. So really it's not much different from glucose."

When whole wheat is milled into white flour, as much as 83 percent of the nutrients are removed, with mostly starch remaining. The fiber is gone and the vitamin E content is reduced, along with twenty-one other nutrients, so it must be fortified with synthetically manufactured thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron. White flour is also adulterated with chemicals used to age, whiten, and preserve the product. White flour is found in many of the foods considered healthier, such as gavels, pastas, breads, and cereals. If you are having trouble losing unwanted fat, consider dropping white flour products first. Beware of products that say "wheat flour," which usually indicated highly processed flour with caramel coloring. If it says "whole wheat," the FDA stipulates that is much be whole wheat.

JRED, CONGRATS on losing those 2lbs! Thanks so much for sharing the pic of you and DH, I can see the difference in you from the Mexico pic. I totally agree with BUSDEB & FROG DH does look like a bit like Dennis Weaver!!!

FROG, sounds like you had a wonderful time for your anniversary-glad you were able to enjoy the evening and the food without guilt-one day won't undue anything. How are you feeling today? I know you said yesterday you saw a difference when you woke up, same today? You made me feel so good with what you said about me, but I want you to know, I do this just because I care. We may have not met YET, but do know that whether near or far, you can always count on me for support within any aspect of your life, not just with following SB:) I won't say NEVER on a marathon, never's forever and that's a really long time, but I proably can say "highly doubt it".;) BUT, I have been toying with the idea of doing the AVON 3 DAY here in April-have you heard anything about it?? Yep, I read the "get something in writing"-thanks!! So, how'd the Dr. appt go-what was the outcome???

ROSALIE, congrats on the new clothes-see, the scale may not be showing lower numbers, but your clothes sure are!!!! Hope you enjoy your weekend off, you sure do deserve some R&R!

SEF, I guess you should also look at the "old fart" in another light-many older people don't like change and maybe she feels she wants to keep things the way she likes them and doesn't know how to express herself in a positive way, so she came across as such. She has to realize without change things tend to get redundant, and everythings changes, whether for the good or bad. It's nice you are being so supportive for the director, I'm sure she appreciates your support:) You are really so sweet!!! {{HUGS}}

NANCE, boy, FROG sure can scream strong enough for you to hear her! Glad to see your post and your e-mail. As you said: "I do much better when I post then when I don't, so hopefully I can get back in the habit again! " I couldn't agree with you more and I hope you'll get back in the habit again (wasn't that in the title of Sister Act II?). There's no excuses, things are going well for you all now, so now it's time to focus back on you. AND, with posting, even if you can just find 5 minutes to come on and tell us how things are going in a sentence or two, that will keep you connected to the board. Of course, there's a little selfishness in there from me, I truly miss your posts!!!!!!!!!!!

FLY, what a wonderful surprise to see your post AND to see how low you've gone! WOW! Just 8pounds til goal. I'm dying to see an updated pic of you! Hint, hint!;) Congrats for doing so well. We miss your posts and hope to see you a bit more often on the board.

Okay all, gotta run, will check in sometime later. I'll find a few recipes this evening to post. Eli's working late, kids go with their Dad, so I'll be free to do as I want later on.

Have a wonderful weekend!!! Is anyone off on Monday for Veteran's Day??

OK - I took everyone's advice and called the doc this morning and took him up on the offer for a prescription. I felt kinda stupid when I was talking to the nurse, but she was very nice and said they would get something called in for me today. This is good because the TOM emotional outburst weekend is upon me and I'm afraid that PMS combined with sheer depression would be disasterous, not only for me, but my family as well!!! I feel a little better just having made the call to ask for something to help. I also scheduled my follow up PAP for January.

I got my bloodwork for my thyroid done yesterday and also bought me some multivitamins to take. I got those Centrum Performance ones that are "for the vitality of your mind and body". They have Ginseng, Ginkgo and higher levels of the 5 essential B vitamins in addition to what the normal multi vitamins have. I thought they couldn't hurt!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away - Where does time go?!?!

I don't have time to address everyone, so here is a great big group HI  (((((HUG))))) AND THANKS FOR BEING HERE.

Hey Y'all! Do great to see some more posts from my on-line buds!

Well, this is the scoop from my FAVORITE doc in the whole world! Dr. Mark Miller! Thankfully I was not up from April visit, I was acutally down 2 pounds from that visit, but I know that I am not where I was in July. I guess if I were relying on the exactness of both scales, then I am down a pound from Wed as well. Should I live out this fantasy? Anyway, he and I talked at length about the Elavil and the side-effects. Weight gain was definetly one of the biggies! He gave me the directions to get off of it within the next 10 days. I will be Elavil free by Thanksgiving!! :spin: The other GREAT news is that he beleives that I will see the weight loss immediately. Could it be that I could again move the big weight? I can hardly wait!

The bad news is that my cholesterol was up again. I like fatty foods like dairy products (cheese, ice cream, 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee, etc. The good news is that my ldl cholesterol is very diet driven, rather than genetic, and my hdl numbers are very good. He wants me to be on my best low-fat behavior and have my #'s checked again in early May.

I am soooo happy to have the formula to get off the meds. He even suggested some alternatives to Elavil that don't have weight gain as a side effect, have very few side-effects as a matter of fact. He even went so far as to say that Elavil is used to assist the elderly population gain weight, and that the sedative effects are so strong that they use in the ER to calm patients with they need to be calmed immediately. No wonder I was such a Zombie!

DEB - Thanks for asking about my lethargy. It was better this morning. DH only had to call me two times instead of 200 for me to get up, and once I am awake I'm more alert. And Girrrrl, let me tell you that I said all those things about you because they ARE about you, very true and heartfelt. I am thankful to have you as a friend. ;) {{{HUG}}} Tell me more about the Avon 3-day. Thanks for the white flour info. Always good to reread that type of info.

FLY!!! - I was sooo glad to hear from you! No I am NOT lean and mean, well maybe mean but not lean. I have been having a set back, that is what all the Rx talk was about at the start of this post. But look out, I beleive that lean is certainly in my near future! Glad to see that you are being successful.

NANCE - Hey Hon! Guess I can call the search dogs off of your trail, now for BOB! Happy that your job is going great. And go Dan! Sounds like things are going your way. Hold off on the refi of the house if you can until early 2002, rates are projected to be even lower by then.

TV - You are doing great keepin' your chin up! It's good that you talked to the doc. Depression is common, not somethings to be ashamed of, and Lord knows that is why we have medical professionals to help us when we need it. "Better living through chemistry!" Always know that we're here for you.

Well, just heard the dryer stop, so I guess I should go. For any of who didn't see yesterday's Oprah, Martha Stewart was on with great DIY gift and deco ideas. Check them out on her site or on Oprah.com!

hi everyone,
well back to work after 3 days off in the middle of the week. i weighed early this a.m. and i stayed the same. no gain is the important thing but i had been so good i was a little disappointed that i had not seen the scale move down just a little bit. oh well , maybe next week. so i am still at 17lbs so far since Sept.
hoping for a quiet weekend, taking my daughter sarah to the movies, i am dreading the day that will come when she doesn't want to go with her old mom anymore. puberty can be a four letter word with girls so i have heard.
am anxious to try some recipes with my newly acquired agave, maybe some muffins or something with apples now that the weather is finally getting cooler here in central fl.
hope everyone has a nice weekend,

I've had such a wildly busy few days, I've only been reading posts and feel really out of it here! I'm the secretary of our neighborhood Homeowners Association and we are electing a new board of directors and one of my jobs is to run the election. Every year that seems to entail calling about 50 out of 150 household as asking them to PLEASE fill out their ballot. It's not just nationally that people don't bother to vote!:?: Also, my shrinking job seems to be expanding, though we haven't quite worked all the details out yet. The tiny company I work for does corporate training in American Business English for Multinationals, Diversity Training, and other Business Skills courses. The owners have been looking at ways to offer the courses on the net, and have asked me if I would be willing to rewrite them, and get involved in the web page development! This would be great, since I really didn't want to switch jobs but needed more hours and more interesting work. The owners are great people, let me work whatever shedule I want (gotta get those tennis games in:lol: ), and their ofice is 100 yards from my house. Aside from the fact I wasn't making much money, it was perfect!:D So maybe I can stop job hunting for a fulltime job that I don't want anyway.

Today I went and picked up my birthday-anniversary present- Jon's not much on surprises, but he knew I didn't like the way my engagement diamond (actually a 20th anniversary present several years ago) was mounted, so we picked out a new setting several weeks ago which had to be custom cast to fit my stones and it was ready today. It's gorgeous! I almost rear-ended a car on the expressway leaving Philadelphia because I kept staring at my ring while I was driving! Philadelphia has an area called "Jewellers' Row", about 150 (yup!) jewelry stores in a 4-5 block area in the oldest part of the city. Quite overwhelming, but loads of fun if you like jewelry. Even more fun if you can afford it:lol:

Sounds like a jewelry epidemic on the board. Long may it continue!

Frog- Your anniversary sounded so sweet and romantic. Getting a surprise that you like is fantastic. About the med's and weight- I wish I'd known what you were on, I could have told you all about Elavil! I don't know what you are taking it for, but I was on it for about 6 weeks for fibromyalgia. In those six weeks I gained 12 pounds while running a lot and eating 700-800 calories a day, I had endless near-miss auto accidents, I literally forgot multiplication tables, and tended to walk into walls in the mornings. The really weird thing is that I could still do division. Then we tried Ambien, which had all those effects plus hallucinations. When I switched to my current cocktail of drugs, the weight came off really easily, but giving up running and turning into a pig put it back on. But that's not your problem, so I'm sure that "unexplained" weight will fall off quickly. Good luck!

TV- Glad you called your DR. Some things you just don't need to live with! Also, as with my post to Frog, if whatever your DR prescribes gives you side effects that are not easy to live with, there are plenty of other choices out there. Everybody's body chemistry is different, so if drug #1 doesn't work for you, speak up and try another.

BIGK- We had our kids in the opposite order- my daughter is 19 now, and I vividly remember the day she started walking 10 paces ahead or behind me at the mall! Except of course when it was time to beg for a new sweater or whatever on mom's credit card:devil: But the really nasty times only lasted maybe a year and a half. We are great friends now and I miss her soooo much. My 11 year old son, however, is in the "jeez mom how can you be so stupid! You don't know anything about being a kid!" phase which I'm afraid will last another 8 years. Please somebody with boys- tell me it ain't so!

Jred- You and Dennis Weaver look great! I can see such a difference from the picture you posted a month or 2? ago. You must be getting a lot of compliments!

Deb- Thanks for posting the white flour article. Yum! guess I'll stop eating handfuls of the stuff:lol: Seriously, when I threw out the bun on my chicken sandwhich today, nothing could have made me eat it.

Fly- Glad to see you back! Hope whatever kept you away has been resolved, you are missed.

Sparkle- see above! Good going on the diving. I always wanted to, and a couple of years ago we went to Jamaica for a week and enrolled in a "resort certification" diving course. I was so excited, since the final was a trip to a good sized reef with all sorts of creatures and coral. Unfortunatly I learned that for me, breathing is not a natural response, and I had to think so hard about taking each breath that I just couldn't do it:( Plus I was so nervous about dh and ds who were also diving, that I knew no one would enjoy it if I went along. But I discovered snorkelling is great and I don't even think about breathing, just do it. The water is so clear where I've been that I practically feel I'm one of the fishies. Though I do envy my brothers who are all deep divers and have seen some amazing sights I'll never get to. Have fun, let us know how it goes. Try one of those cheapy underwater disposables and post some pics for us!

Melf- You look so svelte! I think that's the only picture I've seen of you.

 Hi to everyone I've missed! has anyone found BOB?

This has gone on long enough, time to separate my son from the Nintendo controls, I'm sure you'll all hear the squawking wherever you are:mad:

Hi Bob- you were posting at the same time I was. While I'm dispensing medical advise without a license to everyone else, I'll throw some your way too- Paxil also has some bizarre side effects. My Dr's theory is that if he tells a patient what they are, the patient will develop them. Well, let's just say I thought I was dying and going out of my mind, so if you react in any way, check out WEBMD and call your DR! But I have two friends that swear it saved their lives. I must sound like a real druggie! mattress story had me chuckling. I'm sure you made a lovely window display!

Hi all:wave:

Well I couldn't wait until next Wednesday to tell everyone...I lost 2 more lbs and am now 50 lbs lost!!!!!!!YAHOOOOOO!!!! Let me tell you I feel great!!!!! My hubby has to wait until Monday to see if the job he had a interveiw for will be available this coming week. Please everyone pray that he gets it.

Debbie we used the pie crust recipe that was posted on the Oct. recipe board. He tried the recipe for pecan pie out again last nite...YUMMY!!!! We toasted the pecans before we put them in and used equal instead of slenda, boy did it make a difference. Plus cut the cooking time down about 5 min less. We used the recipe off of the Karo Syrup bottle, with legal subtitutes for the sugar and syrup. Let me tell you that pie was great! My hubby ate half the pie last nite. I limited myself to one piece last nite and one piece today. We are going to try to make a sweet potatoe pie tomorrow nite.

Glad to see everyone is doing well today. I cleaned my uncles house yesterday and washed his truck and car so I got my exercise in. Boy was I pooped last nite and am still recuperating today. I wasn't worth knocking in the head last nite. And his house is huge let me tell you.

Well everyone have a great nite and a great Saturday. I will try and post tomorrow nite.

Nite Nite all!

Hey Y'all!

Got lots of laundry done today-but still have more. I make the kids do their own, but did some of Laurens for her today-so the laundrey saga continues...

TV, here's hoping the meds help you. Just know we are all here for you!!

FROG, sounds like the Dr. visit went very well. I'm hoping the Dr. is right and the weight will just slide off, or should I say, out of you. Is it water weight? I feel excited for you cause I know that you weigh less than you did before taking these drugs, just be patient, and the scale along with your clothes sizes will go back down;) Thanks again for such nice words:) Okay, the AVON 3 DAY is a 60 mile walk which in Fl starts in BOCA RATON and ends in MIAMI. You sleep in tents 2 nights with one other person and they move all your gear for you, have food, drinks, showers. I'm a little apprehensive about it only because it starts to get pretty warm here during that time and I hate sleeping in the heat, and even worse, trying to get on clothes when I'm sweaty! I don't know what the cost is to register, will have to look more into it, I guess. Here's the website to check out the info:

http://www.bethepeople.com/avon_3days/events_3day_popup1.html

BIGK, keep up that wonderful attitude of yours. It's good you aren't pist for not losing, it happens, our bodies do funky things even when we are perfect OP. I went a whole month without losing a pound once, but I knew I was doing everything right, eating right, exercising right, I knew my patience would pay off, and it did and has time and time again. What are you going to see with Sarah? I hope you both enjoy your time together. Oh yes, as they get older, as I'm sure you know, they don't think it's "cool" to go to movies with with your parents, that is, unless there's nothing else to do that day with friends-then they will go to a movie since you're paying! My issue now is Michael wants to go with his friends to R rated movies which I don't allow-I'm being labeled as the MEAN MOTHER:devil: Let us know what you make with the agave when you do-good luck!

10:40pm-started this post earlier in the day, just being able to come finish it now. Eli came home unexpectedly early, so wasn't able to do the recipes I thought I'd have time for.

I e-mailed the agave lady today-I don't have a good feeling about this, I'm so afraid I may of priced myself a bit high, but told her that if she didn't agree with what I put to discuss it with me, that I was open to suggestions.

BOB, what kind of Dr. are you going to? Oh yes, I'd of loved to seen that picture of you in the mattress store window! Sorry you won't be able to make Jan-it surely won't be the same without you!

MEL, congrats on the new setting, and for not rear ending the car in front of you! Reminds me of what happened yesterday...I walk by a school and the crossing and the light turned red, car stopped, the crossing guard was just ready to step out first before the 2 kids went behind him and I hear the SCREEEECHHINGG of tires, turn around to see a red pick-up truck sliding sideways, hitting the car that stoped with in the rear end with the side of his truck-slammed on those brakes that he swerved sideways. Hit the car, but not too bad, I think-I looked back a few times, but didn't stop my walk. Thank goodness the kids weren't already in the cross walk-can only imagine the barage of tickets he recieved!!!

THUNDER, CONGRATS! What wonderful news!!!! You've hit a great milestone!!! Let me know how your next pie comes out-sounds yummy! You could probably make the SP pie crustless-not as good as when made with a crust, but the savings of fat/calories may be worth it.

Well, time for me to hit the hay-garage sale day tomorrow-should be a gorgeous day and hoping to find some goodies this week. I'll check with you when I get home sometime later in the day.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's ol' sleepy head here!

Posting before my long run today (15 miles - UGH!!!) and a busy afternoon with hubby. Luckily the weather is nice and there is a light breeze. DH needs to some pants for work and some therapeutic insoles for his work shoes.

I am happy to report that the Carolina Hurricanes won (played the San Jose Sharks, a really good team making the win even sweeter!) The 3rd period was mucho exciting!

I am happy also that I continue to feel better as I get the Rx outta heeeeya! Easier again to wake up this morning because I am sleeping much better, less dreams and deeper sleep. That bloat continues to dissipate, thank Heavens! :D

My neighbor just found out she's pregnant. Very exciting! She has several risk factors and will know more about her pregnancy in a few days. She recently had knee surgery (x-rays, anesthesia, pain killers!), so she is appropriately concerned about that. She is also over 35 and significantly overweight. Thankfully she is realistic about herself and what to do. I am happy for her and her dh, because I know how much they wanted this.

DEB - between my doctor and our resident drug czar  MELIRIS, I anticipate the weight will come right off. If the changes I've already seen in 2 days is any indication, then I am one happy chick :spin: !!! The 3-day event sounds like a great challenge. When I think about the discomfort that you may experience with a challenge like that and compare that with what breast cancer patients go through, your discomfort is really nothing in the bigger picture. I have often told myself that when I am out running. The pain or tiredness I feel is nothing compared to things that others have gone through, and that for this brief moment in time, I can handle it. Hey, have ya heard anything about the book publishing? I keep hoping that it will come out soon. As far as your recipe deal, don't be afraid to ask what you are worth! I have been doing some private contracting with an agency in another town. They only need me once in a while and the work requires MUCH planning and multiple trips to get the proper equipment together. When they told me their rate ($30.00 an hour) I told them mine was $50.00 an hour. I often found that even that amount wasn't worth all the hassle that went on before-hand, because I wasn't getting paid for that time, just the actual hands on time and a minimal amount of documentation time. Now they are suggesting that they give me a lump sum of $75.00 a whack and no hourly rate. NO-WAY. So don't underprice yourself, even if it means it doesn't work out. And if they really want/need your knowledge, they will pay you for it.

THUNDERWOMAN - Your pie sounded great. Did you sub SF pancake syrup for the Kayro? I should give an SF pie or some pecan clusters a stab with the SF syrup. Congrats on your loss! You are doing terrific! :) Hope hubby's job works out if it is meant to be!

BOB - Glad to know that you were there. We get a little worried about you and Skeeter when we don't see a note from you. Mattresses are expensive but you spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, why not make an investment in such an important part of your life! I was thinking of you and your PMA (positive mental attitude) about stopping smoking. I am continually impressed that you kicked the habit. Congrats on being smoke-free!

MELIRIS - THANK YOU!!!! for sharing your experiences with Elavil. I often found that it impacted my communication skills, not a good problem for a speech-language pathologist to have! and that I was unable to come up with words that I use on a daily basis. I also found that I was routinely unable to "get" things that were not complicated. I was taking it for a vaginal pain condition known by several names, vulvodinia is one, vulvovaginitis is another... I had an extremely hard time waking up in the morning, getting going was also complicated and if I had to get up in the middle of the night for the potty I would have to hang on to the bed while I was walking around the bedroom. Your ring sounds beautiful and dangerous! Do you need to get a warning label about driving with it? Your changing job responsibilities sound like a welcome change. Best of luck with that!

BKM - You're doing wonderfully well with your wieght loss! 17 pounds since Sept is a GREAT loss!

FILLISE - WAR EAGLE Beat those Dawgs! 3:30 Eastern on ABC, I'm there!

That's all for now!

Happy Saturday Y'all!

Peace,
FROG

What a week!

We have been dealing with some unpleasantness on Auburn's campus this week and I have been hired by one of the parties involved to handle the media inquiries we've been getting. In many, many ways I wonder if Alabama is ever going to escape the curse of racism. I have recently become aware of something called The Birmingham Pledge--which is a pledge to live the principles of equality and justice. If anyone is interested, the website is birminghampledge.org (http://www.birminghampledge.org) It is a powerful document.

Between that and beginning work as the DCE at my church, I've been putting in 10-12 hour days this week. All my time surfing the web has been dedicated to looking for media coverage of this story. Some of you have probably seen it.

I hope to have time to catch up with the posts, but I may just have to wait and start fresh on Monday with the new board.

I will have some time today to watch Auburn play Georgia at the same time NC State plays Florida State. Both games are on TV so I will be giving the remote a workout. I'll also be at a friend's house so I can't yell as much as I normally would.:s:

I hope everyone has a good weekend! I try to get back on at some point this weekend--but I'm not promising anything!

HiHO!!

It is absolutely gorgeous here! Really makes you feel good.

This afternoon I have to go help decorate the hall for the church Stewardship Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow. Karen and I swear that we will not kill ourselves like we did decorating for Halloween! We'll see! We want it to be nice.

The kids wanted me to go to casino with them for early buffet but I said I can't because of decorating. I told them to go without me. They need some time by themselves too and I don't want them thinking they have to drag the old lady along all the time!

Actually we all know that we each need our space and do things separating and together. They are the greatest. I am very lucky to have such a family!

DEB - I have not talked to the crochety one. Will be interesting to see how she behaves tomotrrow. With your regular runs and seeming to enjoy them, you might also enjoy the Avon run.

TV - Glad you checked with doctor. If the meds he prescribed don't work then tell him so he can give you something else. They are so many different meds that can treat the same thing.

I think vitamins are good. I don't think you need an over abundance like some people do, but something daily is good. I had stopped for a while but have gone back to the Gingko. At my age need all the help I can get!

FROG - Hope the weaning off of the Elavil helps. That is one powerful drug with some super reactions. That weight should melt away again!

ROSALIE - Don't know if you remember from my back posts, I used to work in LTC than because state and medicare paid more money for SNF we switched. I always loved the geris altho working with head traumas was very rewarding.

BOB - Good to see you, have missed your posts. 8 months smoke free is terrific, you deserve to be proud. For some people Paxil has unhappy side effects, yet I have a friend on it and she doesn't know how she managed without it. We are all different and what works for one doesn't follow for another.

MEL - Glad you got the extra work you want. You sound like me, I was never a commuter. For 20 years I only had to go a mile, then when I, moved to NJ I was bummed had to go about 3 miles!! Ring sounds great. But if you have to admire it, pull over will you?!?.

SPARKLE - Glad to see your post. Always thought it would be fun to dive. Good for you overcoming your fears and doin it!

THUNDER - WOW! We are doing a happy dance for you! Feel the earth shaking? Will say a prayer for your dh and job hopes.

Well, time to get busy doing something else. I 've been sitting here long enough!

Take care, Shirley

Hi Y'all!

Another pretty day here in Miami, not as nice as yesterday, but still nicer than it was just a week ago.

Garage sales were plentiful today, but didn't buy all that much. Found 5 toys for the drive at SB for Eli to put in the box when that starts up, new toys for the kids at the Starlight Foundation. My best find today was a pair of BUGLE BOY PANTS for Michael. When I got in the car, I was folding them up and felt something like square paper in one pocket. I said aloud to myself "would be great if this was money", stuck my hand in the pocket, and viola, a $10 BILL!!! This was one time that it truly paid to go out to garage sales!

Had to stop at the grocery stores in between houses to go to the bathroom-really bad. I've never in my life had expereinced such a steady stream for so long, it was embarrasing:^: as I wasn't the only one in the restroom:eek:I thought it would never end!

Eli is off tomorrow so it's up to Broward for the day, and hopefully they will have COCONUT CARBOLITE otherwise I'll be very dissapointed. I've missed it the last 2 times they had it:( Of course, Ole Ole is on the agenda as well.

FROG, 15 miles-oh my, you'd have to scrape me off the pavement if I tried that. The longest I've ever walked was a little over 10 miles. Is it me, or is it easier to keep running than it is to stop for a few minutes and start up again? Yesterday, I ran a long stretch and it seemed a bit easier after a while than when I start then walk then start jogging again. Any thoughts? Haven't heard anything about the book, but do remember they said it would be out in Dec. Do you have any contact info on it? I am a bit worried about my proposal, but they could always make a counter offer. Of course, I second guessed myself right after I sent the e-mail over. Some of the recipes won't be as hard as others and probably wouldn't warrant the charge for the recipe. I probably should of sat on the e-mail a while before sending it out.

FILLISE, what's going on over there? I haven't heard of anything new. Hope things work out.

SEF, why do I not believe you when you say you won't kill yourself on doing those decorations? You don't sound too convincing! LOL! The Avon thing is a walk, could you imagine ME trying to run 60 miles? I'm still not sure if I will do it, have to get more info on it before I say yay or nay. Enjoy your weekend, hope you get a LITTLE bit of rest!!!

Gonna run, need to make the quiche for dinner tonight-haven't made it since BOB was here in August-it's about time, I'd say. At least I now know what's for dinner when anyone asks!!

I'll check in later!

OOOOOO! UUUUUUU! That's my legs and feet talking to ya!

Run was horribly hard and painful. It took me entirely too long to run, lots of walking out of the usual schedule. I run for 5 min, walk for 1 refresher break minute. It took me 3 hours and 9 minutes (if I remember the minutes part right, that's pretty close), longer than my hope. Oh well, that is what the long run is for, conditioning and mental toughness. Thank Heavens I don't have to think about that again for a week!

DEB - I do have the contact email addy of someone at Rodale if you want it. My guess is we will just get one in the mail without any prior warning. I do think that it's easier to just keep going, rather than start and stop, but I personally don't have that as an option. I take the walks from the get go so that I can continue to run for several hours. Today I was having problems keeping going, but once I started running again, I was better off to just shuffle along in agony!

FILLISE - Watching that game, so far so good. It's early in the 4th and we're up by 3 points. I have not heard what is going on in the news there, but so glad that you are assisting as the voice of calmness and reason. It was obvious upon meeting you that you are a woman of knowledge and composure. I will look for it on the web. It is sad to me that the actions of a few people can tarnish a beautiful and friendly community and the university.

SEF - You have a wonderful social and active lifestyle. I'm sure that you are easy to live with and your family cherishes having you close by!

Well, time to catch the end of the game and whip a little din-din. We're gonna watch "A Few Good Men" on HBO tonight. Oh, BTW - My sweet dh is already seeing postive changes in my mood and bloatedness (if that is a word?). SOOO glad that I've made the decision to nix the Rx and so is he. Thanks to all for being supportive.

Have a good night!

Peace,
FROG

HiHo!!! Well the decorations look pretty good if I do say so myself. It did seem easier than Halloween, but still a lot of tables to do, as well as serving tables and our little scene. It took three of us two hours, so I am tired but not dead!!!!

Was talking to a couple of people about the choir thing. Apparently crochety has done similar things before. Karen, who is her best friend told her she had gone too far and that she doesn't agree with her. I talked to our Director and she said she had gotten calls giving her support and apologizing for crochety. Altho she's the one who should apologize! Made mashed sweet potaotes for tomorow's shindig. Flavored with a little cinnamon, cloves, splenda (very little) salt and butter.

Well gotta go. Gonna put my feet up!

Take care.

Who would have ever thought it. Hubby missed most of the game. We spent the whole day horse hunting. I am so excited we found one. She is a paint ....which is what I wanted in the first place. I will try to get some pics this week. She will be 2 in May so we will have to break her but she will be easy. She is so calm and easy going. My 10 year daughter lead her all over the yard and she has never laid a hand on a horse. Her name is Expensive Cameo......they call her Cami. I can not wait to get her home and have fun with her.

I am tired so I will go .......cya all later.

I received the 6lb pail Tequiza Agave Nectar from St. Pat's of TX (Brewery) at <www.stpats.com>. It looks, tastes, and cooks like the Cucamonga agave nectar light. It also has the same sweetness, and consistency. They also have an Amber Agave Nectar probably similar to Cucamonga's agave nectar dark. I ordered on Nov 5 at night, and received the pail on Nov 9th. Here's a nice option- their pails hold up to 13lbs. You can order any amount from 1-13 lbs at the price/lb (agave nectar $2.50/lb) + $1 for the pail, then freight costs.

One 8oz bottle of Cucamonga light agave was purchased at Whole Foods for $2.69. If I were to buy 12 bottles (equals 6lbs) I would pay $32.28 + tax.

I purchased a 6lb pail at St. Pat's for $16.00 + actual freight to Arizona ($7.60). They don't charge their own S&H fee. My total cost was $23.60 with online purchasing convenience.

Now, I'm not sure whether a 6lb pail is too much for most people, but most baked recipes use anywhere from 1/4 -1 cup which means 8oz can go fast. I guess it depends on how often you use agave nectar. Keep it at room temperature, like honey.

This is interesting info regarding extracts (malt, Agave Nectar, Honey, Prickly Pear Puree) per St. Pat's:
"Packaging and Storage of Extract. Syrup extract is drawn fresh as ordered. We use plastic pails made of the same thick, food grade HDPE as our fermenters. If you plan to keep syrup extract for a month or more, it's best to keep it cool and squirt a little vodka on top. Vodka–the secret of storing extract. About 2 years ago we started squirting vodka into every bucket of extract and we have not heard of anyone having surface growth since. You need only a little, perhaps 1/4 oz. The alcohol vapor inhibits bacterial growth. Surface growth–don't panic. Even with proper storage you may see cultures grow on the inside of the lid of an extract pail or even on the surface of extract. Malt extract, like honey is protected by its high sugar content (~805) growth can only occur on a surface wher condensation dilutes the extract below this level. A little vodka is the best solution but keeping the extract cool helps also. A full container is less likely to have this problem because there is less moisture to condense. In any event if you see growth simply scrape it off. Don't worry about the bacteria because it will be killed in the boil." Is that a bonus or what? :dizzy:

Mother Nature's Goodies, Inc of Yucaipa, CA makes WW pie crusts (2/pkg). I found this in the frozen section of Whole Foods. I think it's time to try a pumpkin pie (SB modified, of course)! I also found Sweet Potato Flour and Sweet Potato starch at Lee Lee's an Oriental FS. I wonder if they would substitute well for flour and cornstarch? Wish me luck!

Oops, I made a mistake.

The line:

Malt extract, like honey is protected by its high sugar content (~805)

is supposed to be

What????I'm posting before Debbie on a Sunday???

BOB I envy you...A new mattress! How lucky can you get! Dan the Man and I have been waking up with back aches daily due to our ancient mattress. We want a new one in a bad way!!! I agree with Frog...it's better to get a good one, because think how much it's used! Good for you, I'm jealous! I was on Paxil before and LOVED it, but it didn't love me :(. After being on it for about a month, I ran into diarrhea daily, but my stomach can be a little on the sensitive side, so hope it works out for you. Mentally, I felt great on it, was truly a wonder drug!

FLY!!!!!! So good to hear from you. I've missed you so! Glad to hear you are still on track with SB, I was worried you fell off the wagon and didn't want to have anything to do with us gals! Good to hear everything is A.O.K.!
Miss our e.mails!!!!!! I can't ever look at the color red without thinkin' about ya!

Debs
Sorry I didn't get your e.mail until Satuday evening!!! I haven't been on the puter as much as I used to be! Maybe today things could happen! WHo knows what you are up to since you haven't even posted this morning!:o

FROG
Glad to hear you are feeling better and better! We'll see what WIW has to hold. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the lbs. come shedding off! ;)

Had a fun day yesterday...Nadia and I went to Redlands, the Victorian house town I wanted to move to....Had breakfast, did a little shopping, there was a jazz band playing Christmas music on the main street, and all the sudden it hit me that Christmas is NEXT MONTH!!!!! HOLY SMOKES:eek: I am totally not prepared for this...I have head my head everywhere else, but it just hit me like a ton of bricks! Came back home layed in bed and read a book "A ROOM OF HER OWN", a decorating foo-foo inter-sanctuary book and enjoyed! We stopped by an Italian store on the way home and bought some salami and cheese (Fontina?) which was a little too strong for my liking, but hopefully I'll fins some recipe I can through it into....I just had my brain work, and think that that particular cheese is supposed to be good for cheese fondue! (WW bread of course!) I probably don't have the little canister to burn under the fondue set and will have to go to William Sonoma and will get into trouble!

Well, I have TONS of housework to do since I played yesterday! Check in with you gals later!

Actually it is almost Sunday afternoon.

Just peeking in at what others have written. Sounds like most are having a good weekend.

Watched "Men of Honor" not "A Few Good Men" (both of which had Cuba Gooding, Jr., which I like!) It was a great movie and timely with Veteran's Day being tomorrow. If you know a vet, please thank him/her for their service to our country.

Will check back later!

Adios!

Hi all. Have had a very busy week and so this is the first time I’ve had to post. Down a couple of pounds this week. :)

BusDeb, Fillise, BOB, Frog, Missy, and all you Southern girls--sounds like you had a fun Saturday watching all the games. We had some friends over for dinner last night. The husband came and taught my DH to operate Quicken on our computer at home. They stayed for dinner and I had an ole Florida favorite, Stewed Emperor's Chicken. It was really good because I used a bigger, older bird rather than a young fryer. It has to cook about an hour, slowly cooking in its own juices to render it meltingly tender. The long slow cooking seems to do the trick. Anyway, that Stewed Emperor’s Chicken was vanquished, uh, I mean vanished lickity split. And it was a beautiful night; we had some of our windows open with a lovely breeze. It was starry out and 54 degrees. A wonderful evening!

Frog--I’m with you on the low fat because of cholesterol. My dr. wants me to keep the fat grams very low, so I aim for 10% of calories per day of fat. That’s really low, I know, but, so far, has not been too hard. All the veggies makes it easier.

BOB--Hope the dr. finds something quickly and easily. Just something that a little tweak here or there will take care of.

BK's Mom--Condolences on the Knight's game. They were doing really well. The future looks bright.

I’ve now got a “new” living room. I spent all Friday painting the walls a pea soup green. Sounds yukky, but it looks really good because I have a cream colored sofa with a stitched design of a thin vine with small flowers of different colors. I have 2 paprika colored chairs and a light colored flooring. So, the egg shell colored walls were boring and nothing “popped” out. Now it looks very elegant. I removed a table I had in there and rearranged my bookshelf, changed lampshades, added a really good plant and a pillow, and, voila, a new room. It was a big job doing all that painting, but worth it. I surely got my exercise in on Friday. My feet and shoulders were still aching Saturday. The only thing I have left to do is to find an inexpensive storage unit of some kind to hold all the video tapes that we had monopolizing the bookshelf. It will fit in a front closet we have that will be really convenient.

Gotta go. My DD is coming over and want to visit with her. “See” y’all tomorrow.

This will be quick as I have to be at church in a little while.

I thought I was going to have a big ole heart attack yesterday!

The Auburn/Georgia game was on at the exact same time as the NC State/Florida State game. I was at a friends's house watching the games and I made them switch back and forth (they couldn't have cared less about the ACC game). The games finished within minutes of each other and EXACTLY the same way--with the wrong team threatening to score and win in the last seconds. Fortunatly both teams held and won!!!!!!! But oh my gosh--I was about to start hyper-ventilating at the end. But--you know it was pure football pleasure!

For those of you who don't follow SEC football--this is the week of the Auburn-Alabama game. Next Saturday my sweet little town will be the center of the universe. Fans have already begun arriving for the game (yes--that would be a week early). The camper people have already begun to arrive. This is the biggest week of the year in the state of Alabama!

I'm working this afternoon--hopefully will get on a more regular posting schedule next week--if I'm not you will know I'm still putting out fires.

FILLISE - OMG!!!
I went to the Plainsman online to see what you were referring to in your recent post about racism on campus. How, in this day and age, especially in light of recent terrorist attacks that are also based on ignorance and discrimination, can COLLEGE students think that this is appropriate?!?!?!?!? This makes a fine University, the south and young white males ALL look BAD BAD BAD!!! SHAME on them and the people who tolerated it. I guess the only thing they forgot to put in the picture was a slave master and a watermelon! Perhaps the just punishement is an old fashioned lynching! Oooooh this kinda thing burns me up and makes me embarrassed to be an AU fan. No wonder you have been busy!

OK, enough ranting! Thanks for trying to restore order to a place more dignified than it's current news making idiots!

PEACE, and I do mean PEACE,

Evening All:wave:

Thought I'd of been able to get in a post this morning, but computer was giving me trouble and I was pressed for time, had to get the kids up and ready to take them to my parents house to spend the day together.

I had the BEST jog today! I woke up with a stiff neck and shoulder, slept wrong or something-still hurts, but I went out and did my 4.5 miles with it being my second best time, 47:50 (best time is 47:27), but what I really was proud of, I jogged longer than ever before. I just kept going, and going, and going like the Energizer Bunny;) I'm going to measure the distances, but I know one had to be at least a mile, while the other length was more than 2 miles, for sure. I usually walk, then jog, then walk-this time I took 8 lengths of jogging and made them one length-twice! Thought my time would be better, but I guess after a while you start slowing down due to fatigue.

Eli and I went up to Broward today, and were joined by Minnie and Morris, his customers. He loves Morris and thinks Minnie stifles him (Morris) a bit. Today Morris got a salad at Ole Ole that comes with cooked bacon thats served on the side and Eli made sure he kept Minnie busy so she could see Morris dumping the bacon on the salad before she could take it away from him. Anyhow, they ran around with us to places they had never been before-got some great STEALS:s: today as far as produce goes. Had my first Persimmon-found those 5 for aa$1. Got Cactus Pears for 69cents a pound, but they aren't big like I'd like them to be, hoping to find more before the add I used expires (Walmart matched price), of course, got 16 more Asian pears for 69 cents a piece-lots of goodies! Went for Carbolite, was disappointed they didn't have coconut as he said he would-but it was still good, no one had to twist my arm to eat a different flavor.

Got home, unloaded so much stuff and Eli got called into work-at least they waited til the evening and until we got home!

SEF, hope you enjoyed your shing-dig. How'd the sweet potatoes come out??

BOB, I'd guess your quiche came out better. I was suprised to go to Publix and no longer see the Cabot shredded cheese I use to buy! I had to use the Borden 6 cheese, so to me, it didn't taste the same:( Not bad, but I liked the old way better. But of course, it won't go to waste in this house-I made a double batch, there's not much left. Glad to hear you're loving your new bed-I love my bed too-esp when it's made! When we first got it it seemed massive, but now, sometimes, it seems too small, esp. when Eli's close and snoring in my ears! Even though I sleep with earlplugs, it can't drown out that jack-hammer noise sometimes! What does Skeeter think of the new bed?? I e-mailed Eli your request, I'm sure you'll here from him soon!! I did get GATOR'S SEC btw-can't say the brains weren't working tonight! LOL!

BUSDEB, okay, splain for us city folks what a PAINT HORSE is, please! Glad you found what you were looking for. Do you have a stable at your house, or just a fenced in yard. Can't you tell I'm not country folk!?!

TREE, St. Pats is one of the places you can get the agave syrup from, you didn't do too bad-I figured you saved about $5.50, as usually you get a 10% case discount at WF. There are lots of other places like them that sell on the web. I was surprised to read about the VODKA, never heard of that before-do they do that with the AGAVE, or just some of the others stuff? The difference between the dark and light agave is that the dark is unfiltered, but from what Avis told me, they are no longer doing that, so you shouldn't be seeing dark agave in the future, once supplies run out. Thanks for sharing your experience with ordering it-sounds like a great way for someone to get some if it's unavailable in their area. I'm going to ask Avis about the Vodka and see what she says. WW pie crusts? Sounds like a great find! Let us know when you make a pie and how it comes out!!!

NANCE, we'll definitely touch base soon! I'm pooped and still have work on the computer to do, and even not sure you are home-so we'll set another time:) Glad you and Nadia had a good time together in the Redlands yesterday! Heck Xmas, try being Jewish, Chanukah is early this year! Tell everyone hello!!!

FROG, did you see my above info on my jogs? Are you proud?:D How are you feeling today-things getting better?

FILLISE, good luck this week, seems you have fires burning at all end! I have to agree with FROG, after reading about the events that took place, you wonder where these kids think this is acceptable, even in fun. I hope you get things ironed out!

BIGK, sorry your son's team didn't win this week-hopefully their next game:) My kids saw Monsters Inc as well and loved it. I'll probably go see it when the crowds die down a bit. I too love popcorn, but only the first time after starting SB was it hard to have Eli sitting next to me eating it and not be able to eat some-anytime after that, it was no biggie. I think eating popcorn, for me at least, was more habit than hunger-we'd go to the movies after being stuffed from a lunch or dinner, not being able to finish the meal sometimes, and get popcorn and eat it all, and usually refill it! Now, it doesn't bother me at all. Good for you taking your triscuits. If you like chick peas, you could roast some of those and take them with you, or soy nuts are also a good alternative. Ummm, what's BUNKO?

Well, I'm outta here for the night. Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW WEEKLY BOARD&IT'S MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY! so if you have any great words of wisdom, please, try to post them tomorrow!

See you sometime in the morning!
