View Full Version : April 29th Travel Date!!!!

Waving the Woo Hoo stick here-but for a different reason:D

I received word today that I have a tentative travel date of April 29th. They are pretty sure my case will have cleared by then-and of the 60 plus families that have traveled, they've only had one case not clear by the projected date. So I feel pretty confident that on the 30th of April, I will be holding my little girl!

So much to do now!

I just went and read your whole blog! wow. that was fun. Made me want to adopt. Josie is such a dainty little thing! and I love your cats. I really love the picture with Roxie on the top of the door. How did she get up there! So you started this process in October of 2006? You realize that by the end of April that will only be 7 months! That beats the old 9 months! I also love your nursery! My 6 year old asked me to paint her room with flowers and butterflies. I think I will have to copy your flowers I love them

03-19-2007, 01:27 PM
YEAHHHHHH--can't wait to see photos of MOMMY & JOSIE!!!!!!

03-19-2007, 01:30 PM
I know-it has been really quick. I'm very lucky. But it still seems so long to get to go over and get her though . . .

Re the flowers-I'm really happy with how they turned out-it was hard though-the first time I started painting the first flower-cuz I knew how difficult it would be to paint over if I didn't like it!

Roxie climbs the screen door to get up there . . . .when her nails are too long she gets stuck on the door and can't get up or down. It's pretty hilarious. She just hangs there. One time I was a very mean mommy and waited to get a picture before I helped her . . . .

03-19-2007, 02:05 PM
wow... congrats!!! i can't imagine how excited you must be

03-19-2007, 02:09 PM
JM -- I'm so excited for you. I can only imagine how interminable this waiting must be!

ETA: So, Josie will be about 9-10 months when you go to get her, right? Have they given you any additional information about her development (words, crawling, cruising, songs or games she likes) or any new pictures? You must be so hungry for information.

03-19-2007, 02:15 PM
JM- YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!! So happy for you!!!

03-19-2007, 02:50 PM
JM - Congratulations!!! How are getting her just when all the really fun stuff is beginning. I am so happy for you.

Hey, did you ever set up an Amazon wish list for us to shop from?

03-19-2007, 04:19 PM

03-19-2007, 04:37 PM

I did-but felt kinda weird just putting it out there . . . so I sent it to Cassi to do with it as she pleased . . .

Oh, what great news! You must be freaking out!

Oh, Mama Julie - I almost missed this thread!!! Doin the happy dance with you :dancer: How exciting. If it were me, this would be the lllloonnnggeeesssttt 5 weeks of my life. Good thing you've got lots of stuff to keep you busy! I was curious about the weather over there right now...
just read that this is one of the more pleasant times to be over there (not like you'll really care about the weather, though!). So, 3 weeks in Vietnam. I hate to tell you this, but there are no CODs over there...what will you do!!!?? LOL. My education for today also found out:

Vietnamese cuisine does not include large amounts of meat and fish; instead, rice is supplemented with vegetables and eggs. Similar to Chinese cooking, Vietnamese cooking uses little fat or oil for frying. Instead of using soy sauce for seasoning, nuocmam (fish sauce) is used as the main flavoring in almost every dish. Pho is a type of soup in which noodles, beef, chicken, or pork are added, and the soup is then garnished with basil, bean sprouts, and other seasonings. Fruits are an integral part of each mealóbananas, mangoes, papayas, oranges, coconuts, and pineapple are all popular. Vietnamese coffee is made with condensed milk to make the drink extra sweet and delicious. Hot green tea is very popular as well.

I love pho-and there's a coffee shop next to our hotel-so i can get coffee without the milk . . . Needless to say-I'm not going to worry too much about it-I'll try to be good! We'll be walking a lot so that should help. And the hotel gives you fruit every day.

Yeah-I've got some stuff to do-but the baby's room is ready. I still need to pick out and wash all her clothes. Mostly I have a lot to get done at work before I take 3 months off . . . .

It's tourist season right now-the "rainy" season starts in May-hopefully it'll hold off a bit.

Don't you just love how full of useful info Joni is :) I know I do :)

That is soo cool that you are able to take 3 months off. Does that 3 months include your time in Vietnam? I am sooo curious about all of this. I really admire you, JM. Josie has one heck of a roll model :)
