Does anyone have a good recipe for lasagna using eggplant instead of pasta? I heard someone mention it in a meeting but they never went into detail.

Evening ladies- We got home yesterday after a looong day in the air. We usually fly direct, but couldn't find any, so had a lay-over in Houston. DH was sick, so didn't make for a good day. Then we got into Indy during rush hour traffic. Thank goodness for DD who used to drive in that every day...she came to pick us up.
Today I slept late. Then mopped all the tile floors. Mom swiftered all of the floors last night. I washed two loads of laundry, dusted the house and got everything un-packed and put away. Quite a chore after a 3 month vacation. :) DH and I walked, just a mile today, but will do better after I am rested. I even managed to find enough groceries in the house to cook a meal tonight...gotta grocery shop tomorrow. AND I have to find someone to cut my hair....I thought I wanted to let it grow out, but one warm day and I am ready to lose it. If I sweat the least bit my hair curls...which means my bangs flip up when it is too long. Geesh...what we women go through.
Anyway...I will be bothering you more now since my computer here is so much better. And I will be bothering you to report on my new eating plan...starting MON. I promised DH we could go to Cracker Barrel once before we start. He has had a 3 month withdrawel from gravy and biscuits. I am already going sweet and salty snacks free...so by Mon. that won't be a problem. I must admit I am really getting nervous about saying I will start a plan...I don't usually do well...and I did gain over the winter. I have tried and failed so much....even though I like walking and have done lots of that. *big sgh*
You all are doing so super I just want to give you a round of applause.
YAY! YAY for the Jaded Ladies!!
Love ya'll...talk later
03-15-2007, 12:36 AM
hello ladies.....nothing new on this end. just trying to get a quick post in here before heading to bed. tomorrow is the big day with the ultrasound. Tommy had to call into work on Wednesday because Tuesday night on his way home, the driver's side front wheel blew out four miles south of home. so he had to get a tow truck to come get him, and then he had to call into work. that is all taken care of so we will feel better about that.
other then that....nothing really new here.

Good Morning Ladies!
Sue--Glad to see you are home safely and after all that you actually got a mile walk in! You are superwoman!!
Marti--I hope you are feeling better today. About that packing...I heard once that if everyone packed up and moved every 3 years, even if they just circled the block with the moving van and moved back into their old house, that would be the only way to stay on top of all the junk that we seem to hord.
Judy--I wanted to try curves once but I work three 12 hr shifts a day and don't get home till 8 at night and curves is only open till 8 in my area so I could only use it about 2 days a week. Not work the $$$ for me. I have a gym in my basement but still don't use it like I should.
Jane--Have you seen a doc about your shoulder yet? Geez, doesn't it feel like our bodies are falling apart a little more each year. I'll turn 50 the end of the this year and my brain still thinks I'm 35 but some days my body feels like 75. I settle on feeling and looking 40. Now, where is my fairly godmother to wave that wand!!
Tina--WTG on the weightloss!!!
Jodi--We are having the same weather pattern as you. Are you sure that you don't live in Maryland!!
Cristina--Wow you lost 2 lbs with all the packing and moving stuff going on!! I would have been snacking on all the wrong things under all that stress. You are truly my hero this week!! When is moving day? I forgot.
Jen--I've have only been around for a short time and only get to post a few times a week. While I read all the post, I will make short notes on a pad as to what is going on with a particular person to remind me what to respond about. I couldn't possible remember everyone and everything that is going on but I am getting better. You will soon remember who is preggie (Mindee), who is moving (Sue, Cristina, Marti wants to) who is not feeling well (Marti, Jane) etc. You'll figure it all out soon, don't give up on us!!
Katiecat--Radial nerve surgery, huh?? Ouch! I hope it works for you this time. I thought I was the queen of double surgeries, I've had two cervical decompressions on my neck, 3 carpel tunnels, 2 nasal septal. Only want plastic surgery now!!
Mindee--good luck with the ultrasound today!! Think Pink!!
Sassy--I lurk alot also. Mostly at work. I don't have time to post, nor do I want anyone looking over my shoulder in a busy nurses's station. And sometimes I'm just too tired at night after a long shift. I do try to keep up with all the post, just to keep informed. So I'm always here even if I don't show up in a post.
Another gorgeous day today but it is supposed to get rainy, windy and colder later this evening. I'm going to take the boys (my dogs) out for another long walk today before the bad weather hits. I've been busy cleaning off all my countertops. Contractor is coming today between 1-4 to do measurements and then I get installed next thurs!! I found some cabinet pulls on ebay so I ran to Home Depot yesterday and bought 3 different pulls that were similar to the ones on ebay and I'll try them on the cabinets, return them back to Home Depot and them order them off ebay. Sounds like a lot of trouble, but I'd rather know that they will look like on the cabinets. And they are half the $$$!
I have avoided the scale for 2 weeks and have been a very bad girl. On top of that my TOM is due any day. Well, I finally got the nerve to step on that dreaded scale and I am exactly the same weight. Didn't lose or gain. I was totally pleased. Gotta step it up, only four months to my Myrtle Beach vacation!!
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Quick check in here ~
Sue ~ glad you are starting fresh! Last time I lost all my weight and went on a trip to Virginia we ate at Cracker Barrel. They don't have them here in Cali. And we loved it so much. I actually was able to not gain and eat that but I was hitting the treadmill every morning and as a tourist walking tons...so it didn't kill me but yum! You can get right back at it ~ what would be scary is if you ignored it and never tried. So just do it and hang out with us and you will be motivated I'm sure!
Mindee ~ can't wait to hear all about the sonagram! :) Very exciting
Tammy ~ thanks for the congrats on my loss....i'm in great spirits right now...hope to keep this motivaiton alive.
Everyone ~ I got a new toy yesterday. It's suppose to be an investment but we love it. It's a BMW Roadster. Little black convertable. :) RRRRRR...stick shift! Wow ~ what a little kid I am. But then you should see my hubby drive it....yikes!
Today I must eat food not replacement bars. I've been so busy it's all i've had time to get in much. So although it's not cheating it's not enough and I want protein! So today for lunch i'm having sirloin burgers!
03-15-2007, 01:16 PM
hello everyone.hope everyone is doing great.I haven't been around lately because i was sick.Today i'm back at the old routine.I'm looking forward to weigh in this week.usually when i maintain one week ,i have a good loss the next week.I am getting closer to getting out of the 220's and it will be a great day when i finally get out of the 200's.:carrot: Hopefully my tae bo dvds will arrive this week.I am so anxious to get started on them.Take care and have a great day everyone!!:)
03-15-2007, 02:56 PM
Hi gals, just a quick one today. Caylin and I went shopping. I love all the new spring clothes, but didn't buy too much. Just a couple of things. I have a meeting later, and in the meantime much catch up with some bookwork. Then later tonight we have Gina's party, and Mackenzie the 2nd grader is spending the night. I'm sending St. Pat's Day cookies for her class at school tomorrow.
Have a good one!
03-15-2007, 03:34 PM
Finally taking a break from the packing and thought I better check in. Geez, I can't believe the garage is almost full. We took almost everything out of the basement except DD's room, the treadmill and the computer and desk so it's weird to be so empty. And almost everything is packed on the main floor so will be easy to just get the furniture out with nothing in the way. I am getting anxious and excited but at the same time it doesn't seem real for some reason. I guess we didn't really expect to be moving so soon, yet at the same time it seems like we've been here forever. Anyway, I will be glad when it is all over and I am in my new house, woohoo!
MICHELLE...thank you so much! You are a sweetie for noticing. Normally, I don't mention a weight loss, just change the ticker and it's done. How are you doing today? I know how you are missing your mom, lots of hugs to you.   And...I love your new avatar! I like them all though.
MARTI...WTG on the 1 pound! :carrot: You're doing great! I think you are right too! Packing is the worst part of moving for sure. I told Vince we should have listed the house as furnished...everything stays! Then we could really start over with new furniture and all, lol! If only :cloud9: I will keep my fingers crossed that you and James find a nice home in the area you guys like. :crossed: I truly am excited for you guys! And...I hope you get to feeling better soon.
MINDEE...thinking PINK for you! Let us know how the sonogram/ultrasound goes.
JULES...glad you had fun at the baby shower and that she got lots of stuff! I enjoy going to babyshowers but have only been to a few, maybe four or five. About like weddings...haven't been to many of them either and I enjoy them. Hope you are having a great day!
TAMMY...you must have a HUGE kitchen! I meant to say something about it when I read about your $8500 countertops, yikes! But I bet it will be soooo nice when done. Did you guys go with granite? Hopefully, you like the pulls...nothing like saving a buck or two. Moving day is the 21st in the evening since we have two different closing that day. We will still get in a full day of moving though, ugh. Going to be one tired puppy.
JANE...as I mentioned to Tammy, closing is the 21st and we will have a truck loaded to go once we are done with that. We have until noon Friday the 23rd to be out of the house. But we plan on being done with all the moving by Thursday evening and then me and V will come back early Friday and do the final cleaning. Is it Gina's BD? Guess I missed it somewhere. :dunno: Glad your shoulder is better.
QUESTION:I want to leave a little welcome gift for the new homeowners and was thinking either a fruit basket, or some candy, cookies or flowers. What do you ladies think would be best, if it were you moving into a new home? I know nothing about the people moving in so.
4AMY...I'm with some of the others on not losing. For me maintaining is just as hard as losing. so even though it's frustrating because we want to see a loss...it's so much better than gaining. No one wants a gain. Hope you are feeling much better.
HIYA SASSY...another THANK YOU for the cute card! A very much appreciated card. :thanks:
SUE...I bet you guys are so happy to be home. And enjoying your new home again! WOW, you have done a lot since getting home. Flying tires me out and I don't want to do anything once I get home except relax...hope you guys are able to.
JODI...love the picture/avatar of you! It's always nice to put a face to a name. Of course I already saw one of you but this must be a new one as your hair is different. The both look nice though! Glad your mom noticed your WL...it is a great feeling when others notice your loss. WTG on the walking too! Wow, I am impressed! You are doing great! :carrot: I've not seen a recipe for the eggplant lasagna but I will keep an eye out for one. I have heard of it before and saw one a while back but can't remember where.
MARYKATE...so glad to hear about your arm and the improvement. I know you have been in a lot of pain for such a long time. I hope this surgery was the one.
HI to everyone else VANN, TINA, JEN, JUDY, KARIN and anyone I may have missed. It's a little crazy trying to play catch up after being gone a few days. Afraid it won't get any better though until after we get moved and settled in.
The exercise has been good. Took a break from it yesterday and went to see Wild Hogs...it was a nice get away and funny! Was going to walk a mile today but since spending so much time here I think I will pass and do it the rest of the week. Feeling sleepy for some reason. Anyway...
Take care ladies, and I hope everyone is having a good day!
Lots of hugs,

Does anyone have a good recipe for lasagna using eggplant instead of pasta? I heard someone mention it in a meeting but they never went into detail.
This may not be super low calorie, but it is good. Basically, you slice the eggplant into about 1/4 to 1/3 inch slices (top to bottom best). Salt the eggplant and stack it up and put a bunch of heavy plates on top of the top slice to weight it down. Wait 20 minutes for the excess water to run out of the eggplant. You then wipe the excess salt off of the egg plant with paper towels. Then you dip the eggplant in a beaten egg mixture and fry like you are making french toast. Use the eggplant just like you would lasagna noodles and layer with sauce, ricotta cheese, mozarella, etc. You could probably try grilling the eggplant slices in the oven rather than the egg batter and frying, but this is the traditional way to do it.

Anmama--have you got a recipie for eggplant patties--my mil makes really good ones but keeps "forgetting" to give me the recipie
Cristina--DH and I want to see Wild Hogs. DS went to see 300 and loved it--he was always into Greek Mythology. I'd like to see the new Sandra Bullock one Premonition. My poor niece has a month to go and she is miserable--she has dropped a little but not much and everyone is telling her that she will probably go early--I told her the baby will come when it's ready and don't count on it being early. DD & I are taking her to get a pedicure and out for lunch after baby.I got her a really cute after baby top at JC Penney's--it one of the 70 looking ones that kind of look like maternity wear that are everywhere this season.
Jane--DD and I went shopping yesterday--I got a new pair of jeans and two tops and she got lots of cute clothes. How's the shoulder?
4amy--good luck with the taebo!!
Tina--one of the younger girls at work has a little convertable Miata that she absolutely loves!!
sz2atheart--DD wants to go to Myrtle Beach this summer
Mindee--waiting see a little blue or pink ribbon on your ticker!! Glad DH didn't get hurt when the tire blew!!
Sue--I worked Cracker Barrel as a second job until I hurt my knee ibn the motorcycle accident--the food is soo good, but DH teased that I spent most of my paycheck in the gift shop!!
Marti--Hope your feeling better!!
Sassy--I miss your morning posts!!!!
Katie--sorry you are still having trouble with your hand!!
Hi to everyone else!! My brother had surgery on his back today--he got a disc fused--Mom called to tell me that he is fine and should be in a room by 8 tonight!!
03-15-2007, 07:10 PM
Christina ~ how about some great smelling candles! :) I love candles and maybe like some flowers or a plant or something? I just love that kind of stuff myself...;) So Wild Hogs is good? I need to see a good movie soon! :)
Boy Jane are you a busy lady! :) I couldn't bake cookies right now or I'd eat them all....that's probably the most tempting thing I can do.
tty all later
03-15-2007, 08:27 PM
Jules~ I will try and post a picture of my new car as soon as I can. :) It's makes me feel like a hot chick! hahaha! Me and my buddy drove around in it today with the top down....and we had a blast. I told her same time tomarrow! ;) We'll be well known in this little town as the hot mamas in the hot car! LOL! Well, it goes right along with the way I've been feeling since starting this weight loss thing.
I better go eat something....I've just been tooooo excited. LOL! Tty all later!
03-15-2007, 09:30 PM
Just another quick one. Still feeling "blah". Tummy troubles and it sure doesn't make a work day any good!!
Anyway...just wanted to pop in and say hello. I will be back to post individuals when I feel better. Hopefully this weekend.
03-15-2007, 10:57 PM
Another busy day...just breezing through here. I keep wondering when I am going to find those hours I lost...?? Jet Lag is no picnic.
Had to vacuum today and finish cleaning. Then the dreaded grocery shopping. To add insult to injury they had my favorite store torn up for a re-model. Hey, they didn't ask me..... It was a mess to find anything, so I went to still another store. Took me all afternoon. Came home and made chili, so we had a late dinner.
Grey's was a new one tonight. Yay!
Keep on keeping on ladies....Talk tomorrow
03-16-2007, 12:30 AM
hello ladies!!! how are you all doing?
well, we went to the ultrasound and the baby is doing great! Everything is where it should be and the baby is growing perfectly. At 33w4d, the baby is already weighing in at 4lbs. 14oz. And, as you can tell from my siggy.........the baby is a GIRL! Thank you for all the pink thinking girls!
I have been beside myself since I saw the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech thought it was funny because she was showing me the girl parts, and I couldn't tell what gender she was, let alone what/where I was looking. I told the ultrasound tech "I don't see it" so then she put the cursor on the screen and started to circle it, and it hit me then. I was too busy looking for a winky sticking out that it never dawned on me that if nothing was there then it was a girl! I got two profile pictures and a "money" shot. She would not take her hand away from her face so that we could get a clear shot of her profile, so in both pictures she has her hand by her head. She has HUGE feet!
Sorry to cut this short, but I will be back tomorrow for personals!
03-16-2007, 10:20 AM
Hurray for a little girl!!!
Happy for you Mindee! (and Tommy)
So.....what are we gonna name her??? :D
I'm off to work early. Finally got more supplies and they're checking my numbers today. (They better have enough....I'm fasting and if I don't get coffee soon...................)
Catch w/you all later on tonight!
03-16-2007, 10:51 AM
Marti- Hope you were able to get your bloodwork today. Hope you are feeling better.
Mindee- yeahhhh having a little girl is fun... UNTIL! That is until they go into middle school, turn 11 and totally drive you insane. And believe me, it's not getting easier! LOL Mine is getting ready to turn 14 in May and she has developed a mouth on her that might not allow her to see 14!
Cristina- goodness girl! you are taking this packing thing seriously- LOL. Don't wear yourself out packing cause you have to UNPACK all that stuff. :-) That pict I sent you was from November- dang my hair looked good that day. Now I just pull it back, which is how it was on my avatar. I keep thinking I may be able to lose 3-4 lbs if I got it cut- lol. I have always wanted it long and never had the patience to grow it out. I haven't had it cut in 2 yrs, and it's only about an inch short of being able to donate it to Locks for Love.
Ammama- thanks for the recipe. I am trying to find a way to get my family to eat more veggies and they are easily fooled- lol if I can mask something and make it taste good. If they can see it, they want no part in it. And the worst one is my HUSBAND!!! I wasn't sure how you cooked the eggplant to use it like lasagna so this helps me!!!
Sue- hope you are getting over your jet lag and getting back into the swing of things.
Hello to: Jules, Tina[/COLOR]Amy,JaneTammyand anyone else I have forgotten. Will be off to work in a bit for a dvd job and then to deliver Avon. Not a busy day- yeeeaahhh Have a good day girls.
03-16-2007, 11:10 AM

Ok..I'm so close to reaching my next small goal of being in the 180's. I've been doing really well lately. Totally avoiding the FAST food and sugar! Huge deal for me. That's ALL I used to eat...fast food and sugar. haha! Oh and I am drinking my water....again something I never did before. Wow. I"ll do individuals later....
p.s....Mindee! Congrats on the news of a baby GIRL! I have 2 not so baby girls and mother daughter relationships can be the most beautiful complicated ones ever. And when they are little I think they are a blast! ;) Yeahhhhhh!
03-16-2007, 02:28 PM
Hi everyone.Hope you are all having a great day!I know mindee is!Congrats on the baby girl.!!:) Its a beautiful spring day and i cleaned and painted some windows today.i love it when spring starts approaching.
03-16-2007, 09:00 PM
Hiya Ladies, let's see if I can catch up....
Marti - hope you're feeling better. Seems like you've been sick a lot lately... have you been taking your vitamins???? Don't make me come out there, lol. :rollpin:
Sue - yikes, the Indiana weather went from low 80s to the 20s and I'm about to freeze to death! :yikes: So did you get your hair cut? Yeah, I really liked Grey's, too. Did you watch the new show after it, Ocober Road? I thought that one has potential.
Mindee - WOOHOO!! Uh, I think "Janie" is a good name. ;)
Tammy - my shoulder is a lot better, so I won't need to go to the doc. :cp: This "getting older" stuff is for the birds! All these weird aches and pains. Reminds me of a card I sent my friends that said "Getting older is like being inside a haunted house. Lots of sounds and smells you just can't explain." Ain't it the truth! Yay for 1/2 price cabinet pulls - can't do much better than that. Myrtle Beach? I've seen others' vacation pics from there, and it looks fabulous! Can I come, too? :^:
Tina - cool car! Now you keep your top up, Missy! :D
Jodi - oh my gosh, middle school girls ought to all be sent to an island until they become at least Juniors in high school. That was my most diffucult time with my DDs, especially Mary. :dizzy:
Amy - glad you're better. And your weight will be in the 2-teens before you know it.
Cristina - I'm thinking a nice plant would be nice to leave for the new owners of your house. You're a very thoughtful person to do something like that! With a plant, everytime she sees it, it will remind her of you. A fresh bouquet would be great, too, though. I want to go see Wild Hogs, too, but it seems we don't make it to movies much. I won't go on the weekends, lol.
Julie - all the 70's clothes that are out there now sure takes me back, doesn't it do the same for you? I had peasant tops and empire-waisted clothes and bell-bottomed jeans, and bet you did, too. I think it's cool to see all the wide-leg jeans available now.
Hello to anyone else reading this.
Makenzie's classmates were all glad to see her bring cookies to school. I got to meet her teacher, and she seems nice. The school is fairly new, and so clean! I just love the smell of an elementary school, don't you?
Neal and I had Mary's kids over for supper, and I had a chicken casserole that happened to have chopped pimentos in it. They weren't going to eat the pimentos until I said they're "Disney berries", lol. Awhile back I got them to eat peas by calling them "Pochahontas peas", lol. Hey, ya gotta do what you can to get kids to eat their veggies, right?
Have a good weekend!
03-16-2007, 11:03 PM
Evening ladies- Brrrr...and I wanted to come home for this? :)
I am enjoying being back to the new house however. Still trying to do some decorating...and I keep moving some candles, picture frames and flower arrangements to different spots. I do finally have one sofa table set up the way it is going to stay. Now if I can find something to hang over it.
Feeling good and got in a little over a mile walk, even though I froze.
Jane- You were supposed to keep the nice weather here for us. I had to laugh at your "disney berries." When Joe was a toddler I would fix him a sandwich and cut it in triangles. For some reason he called it a "Snoopy sandwich." He still remembers those.
Mindee- YAY! I love both boy and girl babies...having each myself, but I am thrilled that you will experience the joys of a little girl also. Names?
Cristina- Hope you are getting some rest in the midst of all the frenzy. I know you are excited....don't blame you. I am anxious to hear all of your decorating talk...I am sooo bad at it. :(
Tina- I only wish the weather would get warm enough for a convertible here. You are in CA, right? Vegas was 90 degrees this week...after we left, thank goodness. I like 70's the best. Okay...you've convinced me, no fast food and sugar. Sugar being a hard one for me....but I am doing it.
Jodi- The jet lag is a thing of the past..... Wow, I remember my girls getting sassy about middle school too. It shall pass and they do turn out beautifully. My girls (38 and 41) are such sweeties now. And all that fighting when they were young...now they are best friends.
Marti- Hope you get the lab work done. Glad to hear you are feeling better. You might need to get more rest..... You have been exercising hard.
Julie, Amy, Tammy, Katie, Sassy- hi to you all and anyone else I missed. Have a wonderful week-end. I have no plans, but will try to keep up the walking and NO SWEETS. Actually going to smell up the house by cooking cabbage tomorrow....yum, but phew. :)
03-16-2007, 11:19 PM
Took too long to read all the posts so will catch up tomorrow. Got up early this morning and I am pooped again.
Thanks ladies for the ideas. Not sure who mentioned a plant but I had thought of that earlier today when I turned and saw one of mine...figured it would last longer than the fruit and flowers. A candle is a good idea also so maybe I'll leave a candle and a plant. Any suggestions on a good scent for a candle? I know what I like but not sure they would like it. Does everyone like vanilla scented candles you think?
Anywho...see you ladies tomorrow. I am going to get up early and start the day early and hopefully finish up and then possibly take a nap in the early afternoon.
Nighty, night ladies!
03-16-2007, 11:24 PM
I'm so glad that today is Friday and now I have the whole weekend to just do NOTHING!! :D
Actually....I have some cleaning to do so I'll be busy.
I'm going to try to catch up on individuals.......please forgive me if I forget someone.
Jane--The first time I wasn't really ill....it was a toothache that just took over. This time...I caught Jhanai's stomache bug. That was NO fun. But it only last a couple days so I'm all good now. Thanks for worrying about me.
Amy--I love Spring too! And I really need to do some Spring cleaning. Hard to do when all you want to do is enjoy the weather!
Tina--Wow....what a great car to get!! I bet you're just loving it!! Congrats to almost reaching your goal of the 180's. You'll get there in no time.
Jodi--I got my blood work today. I was shocked. In 6mos I managed to bring all my "high" blood work to the normal range! I was so happy to see that. Of coarse...my blood pressure was high.......but I can still work on that. Cholesterol is finally normal and my glucose is in the normal range. I'm doing a happy dance. :carrot:
Mindee--I LOVE having my girl. She is so amazing. I learn from her everyday it seems. She is growing up to be such a caring person. It's hard to believe she's almost 13 and not my little toddler anymore. So......what name are we choosing??? Marti sounds good. :D (actually....it doesn't!! So let us know what you come up with!)
Sue--I'm glad that you're home now and that you're getting things all in order. I'm looking forward to reading how the program works for you and DH. Now...I've only heard of Cracker Barrell......so you'll have to clue me in as to what it's like. Now...is this a store or a restaurant??
Tammy--Do you ever watch those shows "Mission Organized" or "Clean Sweep"? I just get amazed at how much stuff people collect and how it takes over their lives! I'm not very organized...but I'm nothing close to that, but it could happen. So I better nip in the bud now and when we move.....no clutter!!
Cristina--James is DREADING the packing. I told him to leave the packing to me and I'll leave the moving stuff to him. Gotta comprise somewhere. We found a house we're looking into tomorrow. Actually I'm going to look at it myself w/out him since James is out of town. It's really cute and in a good location. Plus it's maybe 10mins. from work.....and that's with lots of traffic!! I'm excited.
Jules--Hope your brother is doing ok. Back surgery seems awfully scarey. Glad to hear that he came out of it ok. I'm wanting to see all the movies you've mentioned. They sound great. 300 is one DH is really wanting to see....so we'll probably see it first.
MaryKate--I am SO happy to hear that your arm is doing better!! Now...if only HR would have ok'd this in the first place so it wouldn't have taken you this long to feel relief! Rest that arm up and get some strength.
Jen--I'm wanting to hike this summer. My vacation will be in August and I told hubby that I want to hike the falls this Summer. It's just beautiful out there. And hiking is great exercise. This will be the first year that I hadn't smoked when I went hiking....so it should be easy breathing for me!!
Karin--My sister lives in Florida. Seems like she's always got the A/C on while we have blankets wrapped around us!Glad to hear you're doing good on the diet!
Sassy--Thanks for the card!! Pop back in when you have more time to visit.
Vann--Did you go on another trip?? Miss seeing your posts. Or...do you have one and I just missed it somewhere??
Michelle--How are you doing today?? Hugs sent your direction!
And a great big hello and how ya doing to anyone else I may have missed!
Goodness...I'm not sure how I can keep up w/you all. Get sick and don't get on here and I missed a lot!:D But don't stop for me....continue as you've been doing.:)
This week has been a bad week for walking. Tummy troubles don't mix w/walking. Just stop to walk to the bathroom and what fun is that? So Monday's WI may show nothing. But I hope not. I'm still eating pretty good so that should make up for it a little bit.
Ok...this is long enough and I should get off of here.
Have a great night!

Hello ladies!! Nothing new here…..just trucking along. It is still sinking in that we are having a girl. But we are very excited about the change and are wondering what to expect with a girl that we haven’t already seen/heard/dealt with with the boys.
Marti~ Thanks for the hoorays! We haven’t decided on a name yet, but I guess we really should get cracking on it.
Jodi~ That is what every one keeps saying…..girls are nice until they get older and become sassy big girls! LOL……I am sure we will have to watch Brandon & Logan around her friends, more then we will have to watch her. (although, that brings up a question. How young is too young for a chastity belt? j/k)
Tina~ Did you ever put the top down? The weather here next week is suppose to be like it was at the beginning of this week. Which means, we will have the convertible weather, but for how long is the real question! I am finally going to have a female in this household. I had two mommies boys…..until they realized that daddy was a little better. I get a mommy’s boy out of them when they are sick…..and when daddy isn’t around. But as soon as daddy is home, it is mom who? So, maybe I will have a mommy’s girl instead. You are doing a great job! Keep up the great work and you will have reached your goal weight in no time!
Before I get too ahead of myself…..HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!!
Amy~ Thanks for the congrats! I feel so much better now that we know what we are having. I felt a little uneasy I guess not knowing what the gender is. So, now I can talk to her and bond more with her.
Jane~ I will have to add that to the rest of the list we have going on.
Sue~ We haven’t decided on a name yet. That will be the next step…..that and packing my hospital bag. I have been told by every one that finds out we are having a girl that they like to come early. So, that will be a new thing for us….since both Brandon and Logan were late. Just as long as she doesn’t decided to come too soon!
Cristina~ I meant to answer your question yesterday about an idea of what to leave the new owners. We helped my oldest sister and her family move when I was pregnant with Logan. The new owners left then a card, and a cake with a picture of the house on it that said “welcome to your new home” on it. My sister didn’t realize it until I said something. I asked her if every thing that was still there was theirs, and she said yeah. I said “even the cake that is on the table?” and she said “are you kidding me? They didn’t leave a cake, you are joking with me.” Then we walked into their kitchen and there it was.
Marti~ I will definitely have to let you all know the name when we agree on one. He has been working constantly so the only time we get to spend together is Sunday, and that day we are usually running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get everything done that we need to get done for the next week. Maybe we will sit down and tackle it on Wednesday. He is going to go with me to my doctor’s appointment, so he took a personal day.
I am not sure if I mentioned this yesterday, but she is already head down and absolutely hated when they would push on her head or body to get measurements. So, I guess she is going to be well prepared for dealing with Brandon and Logan. I think the boys are getting used to the idea of a little sister. I point out to them whenever we see a baby girl on tv and they turn and look or point at my belly.

New Weight Loss Program
A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.
The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a
voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of
Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck.
She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company.
The sign reads , "If you can catch me, you can have me."
Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later
huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.
The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing
happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he
has lost 10 lbs. as promised.
He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program.
The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most
stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is
wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that
reads, "If you catch me you can have me".
Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent
shape and it takes him a while before he can continue, so for the next
four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better
and better shape.
Much to his delight on the fifth day he weighs himself only to discover
that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised.
He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50
"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most
rigorous program." "Absolutely, " he replies, "I haven't felt this good
The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds
a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes
and a sign around his neck that reads,
"If I catch you, you are mine."

Mindee ~ thank you for that boost of confidence for me. And yes it WILL be nice not to be the only female in the household. ;) Girls are so special and don't worry about your kids being attached to you. Mine all rely on me more now than they ever did. And me and my boys do have a special relationship. My oldest son (16) will take mom to the movies. Just the two of us. It's great! I'm so lucky. And my daughter wants me to 'look good' so she'll tell me I should go get a pedicure or do this or that to my hair. And I know that she just doesn't want me to embarrass her..haha but it's still nice to have someone notice that stuff. She's noticed I've lost weight too so she says. It's crazy 15 pounds and I don't think anyone can tell yet. I surely feel better.
Marti~ I'm loving my car ~ thanks! ;) My girlfriends too love it. And it's actually kinda nice only being able to take one at a time. I get to spend more quality time with my friends that way. ;) We cruise to starbucks and then do some driveby's...haha! you know...drive by and honk! I actually accidently honked at the wrong person today....lol!
Sue~ Did I really talk you into giving up sugar? If I had anything to do with that I'm so happy! I seriously have never felt so good as I do with having that outta my system. It's crazy. It was like poison to my body and I probably knew it was bad but I ignored it for so long. And I think it has a ton to do with how quickly i've been dropping the pounds recently. :) And no fast food UNLESS it's a chicken salad with balsamic dressing...yum...but no french fries...bad bad bad...lol!
Jane~ No worries ~ MY TOP will always stay up....lol! Jeeze ~ maybe if I was in new orleans and had a little too much to drink and then....nawwwww it'd stay put. lol! I LOOOVE how you talk your grandkids into eating their veges! ;) Pocahontas PEAS! Love that! Kids are so cute. That made me crave peas after hearing that one....i'd love some!
Christina~ I saw Wild Hogs...haha! Went with my son and there were some pretty funny moments in that movie! ;) I even skipped the popcorn and the diet drink...wasn't really thirsty. But I loved it when that bird hit John Travolta in the face! haha!
EVeRyOnE else...Hope you enjoyed my little joke! haha! Thought it was funny. I'm going to go get some bacon and strawberry jam to complete breakfast for my big men (excuse #1 to drive the car today...haha)...and then i'm going to take a nice hot bath...awwww...visualize myself getting skinnier...i do that a lot!
MINDEE...CONGRAT'S on having a little girl! :bb: :congrat: I am happy for you guys! And that is funny...I went to Hallmark yesterday to get cards and a new home was on my list and I got one for just about everything but that, lol!
MARTI...I hope the house is nice and you guys love it! Can't beat being so close to work can ya? That would be absolutely perfect! Hey, that's basically what me and V are doing...I'm doing all the packing, except he did the garage-his stuff/domain, lol. And he is going to do the moving. Actually, I will be helping with that as well during the day. He's got a couple of friends that are going to help after they get off work so we will leave the BIG stuff for then, lol. Hope you are feeling better.
TINA...a new convertible sounds like lots of fun! And being in CA is the perfect place for one! Cute story, lol. WTG on reaching the 180's! :carrot: :carrot: You are doing great with your program.
JULES...I thought Wild Hogs was funny...needed some laughs. John Travolta and William Macy was cute in it, lol. Wouldn't it be nice to do that though? I would love to go on a rode trip, and on a motorcycle. Had a boyfriend years ago that had one and I loved riding that thing. Hey, I bet she will love the new top! I am looking for some hippie clothes, lol! I love the new styles out now and especially all the browns. Definitely going to have to get me at least a few tops.
JODI...sorry I've not kept up with the e-mailing. Once we get moved and a little settled I will start again. Just haven't been spending much time at all on the computer. I like both your photos though, they are nice.
SUE...your chili sounds so good. I have been wanting some since I packed the crock pot, lol! I packed it thinking I wouldn't need it. Of course that is the first thing I missed having, lol. I don't think you are bad at decorating...from the pictures you shared, your house is really nice and I like what you've done to it. Now that you guys are back you can finish up and work on your yard. Hope the cabbage doesn't smell the house up too bad. WTG on the walking!
JANE...I don't go tot he movies on the weekends either. Just too busy. I do enjoy going though and miss it when we don't go for months. Hey, thanks for the suggestion of a plant. Not sure why I didn't think about that until last night. I was in the kitchen and turned and saw the one on the counter and a light bulb went off, lol. I think I am going to go with that and a card and maybe some brownies or cookies. Glad the kids loved the cookies! We were at the bank yesterday and they had a table with some St. Patrick Day cookies...I was so tempted to get one but I didn't. The looked soooo good!
4AMY...I too love spring! It is so nice how things are blooming. Of course I won't be here to see my tulips come up, I don't think. They are up but haven't bloomed. But everything is starting to turn green...I love it!
HI to MARYKATE, VANN, JUDY, KARIN, JEN, MICHELLE, SASSY and anyone I may have missed. Can't believe how we have grown and I am having a hard time keeping track of everyone :)
I better get going. Have a couple more things to do on the 'puter (change of address stuff) and then it's time to get to packing. There's really not much left. The stuff in the laundry room/closet, and the kitchen. The rest of the stuff will be packed the day before moving since we are using the stuff. We ordered a new refrigerator and was told it would take 23 days to get here. Umm, it's sitting at Lowes because it took 3 days! Glad they didn't try to deliver it, lol.
Oh, MARTI...don't worry about not getting exercise in. It's hard when you are sick. I know I haven't gotten any in and I am afraid to weigh Monday. But you know you have eaten right so that will make all the difference. I've been trying to be good and stay OP but it is hard when you are too pooped to cook. Anyway...we'll see what happens come Monday. I don't have a lot to do today so I will get some exercise in today.
Anyway...sorry for the long post, trying to catch up with everyone.
Take care ladies and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
03-17-2007, 02:48 PM
Happy sunny Saturday afternoon. Yes, it is sunny, but don't let that fool ya...it is cold. I am trying to get myself in the mood to bundle up and walk.
I just ran through the exercises as per Dr. Oz's book. They aren't bad...definitely doable. I am better at the lower body ones, perhaps since I have walked a lot. Most of my weight is in the middle which is bad, bad, bad. (and hard to do some of the stretches) LOL
I didn't cook the cabbage today, no one was interested after all. So, it will be tomorrow's meal. Today I had an english muffin w/ lofat margerine and a banana for breakfast. Cottage cheese, saltines, melon and 1/2 a pear for lunch. Dinner will be a huge salad with tons of freebie veggies and either a slice of pizza or a baked potato. I don't feel the need for sweets, but when I go to the store I am going to pick up some sugar free hard candy. Hard candy is what kept me from snacking all the time before, so since I can't have sugar...gotta find the other.
I will weigh and measure on Mon. and see how this goes.
I hope you are all enjoying the week-end and also hope it is warmer where you are.
03-17-2007, 04:55 PM
Sue ~ hey some advise that you definately don't have to follow. But I've been reading a book by a doctor that is very much into natural remedies. And if you want the name of the book and Dr. let me know. But I tooooo carry my weight in the middle. Like i'm 190 and I wear a size 12 jean but have to hide my middle because I look prego. But anyway...he says that people that carry their weight in the middle mostly are producing too much insulin. So...of course sugar is OUT for them. So cutting the sugar is going to be soooo beneficial to you but ALSO you should be eating protein at every meal. You could even break it down into like 6 mini meals. If you are on a special program already please ignore me. But like an english muffin is a carb...and it will turn to sugar pretty quick. But protein is what we are made out of and it makes our hair/nails/skin/etc...and you will probably lose quicker if you be sure to eat lean protein throughout the day. Like I use replacement bars often because I'm usually too busy to eat but I will be sure to eat chicken/fish/eggs/or lean lean beef often. If things are working well for you again ignore me. But for me this is working and it's probably the only thing that will work for ME> ;) (as I get off my soapbox)

Evening Ladies!!
Today was a gorgeous day!! I was up bright and early to get ready to go look at a house. By the time I got home......I realized that I'm still not feeling the best and so I took a nap. Tummy just does not want to feel better!! SHEESH!!:dizzy:
Mindee--An old friend is pregnant and hasn't found out what she's having yet. She's not due until the fall so she still has time. Also have a couple girls at work that are expecting. One is having her 3rd and her last, the other is having her 2nd....and her daughter is only 5mos old!! Now, that is having them close!
Tina--Funny joke. Visualizing does seem to be a motivator for me...so I think it's great that you're doing it. One reason why I have a mirror facing me when I walk on the treadmill. (It's across the room ) I can look and imagine my body shrinking. Keeps me walking!
Cristina--Got to see the house. It was built in the 60's. It's actually really cute, but it's dated. We'd have to do a lot of updating if we bought it. I told James that I'm willing to do that, but he really needs to go look at it himself and not just go by my word. We'll see.
Sue--The house that I went to see today...the woman was cooking cabbage and it smelt so good. Now....when your showing your home, I would think that cabbage is the last thing you want to smell! But since it's St. Patty's day.....
Hello to all the other gals.
I think I'm going to get myself some water and go watch a movie. I have so many and being home alone tonight....gotta keep myself preoccupied.
Have a good night. And if you're out drinking for St Patty's day.....be careful.
03-17-2007, 09:44 PM
Tina- Thanks for the info. I am not on any program that is working for me...ha. Just getting ready to try again, and using You on a Diet for guidelines, but have to tweak it to suit us. So, do you eat any bread or carbs? Or is your plan more like Atkins, with the meat and protein? I can do okay with the chicken, lean beef and eggs. Just not a fan of seafood or fish, except tuna occasionally. Right now we are planning eggs for breakfast 3 times a week, cheerios and/or fruit the other days. Mostly salads or soup for lunch with an occasional turkey or ham roll up. Dinner is usually our chicken or beef meal, with fish for DH some times. Lots of veggies and fruit *fingers crossed.* It all sounds good, but doing it is the hard part. So far I have done well on getting rid of the sugar. That is candy and desserts...I haven't started working on the other foods with suger yet. I know there are several that we rely on that I will have to cut out or find a substitute for.
I would love to read the book you mentioned. I am an avid reader and always open for a new slant on things. Post it here or send me a private message...whatever you wish.
Hi to everyone. I got in a walk even though it was very chilly. I remembered to put sunscreen on my face since the sun was in and out. Then I got wind burned and my face is red/shiny. Grrrr.
Measured the walk in closet and drew up the plans for the shelves, cabinets I want. I am going to have a lingerie chest in there also. I get excited about the dumbest things...LOL
Happy Sunday....I plan to sleep in. Yay!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY LADIES!!
Mindee--Congrats on the baby girl!! See what the power of all the jaded ladies accomplished with our "thinking pink". Of course Tommy had nothing to do with it!!
Tina--Wow, a new convertible!! That would have been hard to drive here in Maryland with our 37 degree temps and the ice storm that we had last night. I'm green with envy! Love the joke!
Jane--The more the merrier in Mrytle Beach. We always have a house full. This will be our 7th year. When I finished with college expenses and marry off my DD, we plan on buying an ocean front condo for an investment.
Cristina--I second the plant as a gift. What a wonderful idea!! You are so thoughtful. I was so overwhelmed my last move that I didn't even think of something like that. You only have a week to go. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. And yes, to answer your guestion about my kitchen. It is pretty big. I needed to replace almost 80 sq. feet of countertops that included an island, desk, etc. We decided on Silestone which is quartz. I couldn't find a granite piece that I liked. I also ordered a white cast iron sink. I hope I won't be sorry. I'll just have to be more careful to not scratch the sink. Maybe I'll post before and after pics when it is all done.
Marti-I love watching Clean Sweep and all the stuff on TLC. My basement could sure use a clean sweep about now. We still have stuff in boxes from our move almost 4 years ago hanging out in the basement. Mostly my kids stuff. My son enlisted 3 years ago and I still have all his toys, cars and games. Have you found a house that you like yet?
Jules--We saw Wild Hogs today and loved it.
Sue--I would love to have some cabbage. My dh want's nothing to do with the stuff. Once in a while I'll get it at the hospital cafeteria. Usually when I'm desperate!
A big hug to those that I missed. As I said to Jules, we went to see Wild Hogs today and I did have some popcorn, no butter, and a diet soda. But I did skip lunch. (the popcorn was my lunch) We then walked off the popcorn in the mall, went to Wally World and picked up dog food and a few other little things, went out to dinner and have been relaxing at home for the evening.
That reminds me....there has been a major recall on canned dog food for those of you that use it. Check it out on USAToday website. I thougth for sure that the Walmart shelves would be bare but it was all still there. We use a little Pedigree canned food mixed with the dry in the mornings to get the boys to eat fast so we can get out the door for work. Pedigree was not on the list. Here's the link..
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
03-18-2007, 03:05 AM
Tina~ That was a funny joke! Your welcome for the boost of confidence. That is what we are all here for! You will be amazed at how fast someone will notice that you lost weight. After I had Brandon and I joined on here, we used to walk every night and pretty much every where that we had to go. So, one day when I looked in a store window, and didn’t look like I was 3 months pregnant anymore, it hit me why every one else was saying that I looked good. I just never believed it until I saw it for myself. I could tell I was loosing because my clothes were getting looser but to actually see the results made me feel great!
Cristina~ I know what you mean! We go to Wal-Mart, it seems like every day, and we usually always go in with a list, and most of the time we end up forgetting something on that list! We went there tonight, and went to look in the baby section. The first thing out of Tommy’s mouth was “look at all the pink stuff!!” And then he said “I am so excited I can’t wait!” We had to come to an agreement on one thing though…..I showed him some little girl headbands, and he said no to them. He said I could put her in anything, any color, just no headbands. Which, I actually agree with surprisingly. My sister’s husband, well, they had some really cute dresses for their daughter and because they were blue or had any amount of blue on them, she never wore them. So, I asked Tommy if I could put her in blue, and his response was “you can put her in anything you want….as long as it fits her.”
Just a quick side note. We set up a baby pool if you guess want to head over and check it out and put your guesses in. You can go to http://www.ExpectNet.com/games/babygirl2be
Marti~ And I thought having them all 18 months apart was rough! Jeesh! Every where we go, we always see at least one pregnant women. We went to Wal-Mart last night and Tommy said “there must be something in the water.”
Tammy~ I think Tommy is extra proud of himself that he was able to have a girl. His second oldest brother laughed and said “I thought you said that you don’t know how to make girls?” Tommy laughed and said “yeah, well, we were due for a change.” It is nice to be able to look for something in pink and be able to find it. When we go to Wal-Mart looking for clothes for the boys, we can’t seem to find more then a rack full.

Sassy--so sorry to hear about your fil--hugs to you and your hubby!!
Karin--send some of that warm weather my way--after a week of temps in the 60's--the temps dropped 30 degrees and we got about 8 inches of snow!!! It suppossed to slowly warm up this week and hopefully be back in the 60's this weekend--I'd be happy with the 50's!!
Vann-wtg on the one pound loss!!! have a safe trip!!
Mindee--with several coworkers and friends having babies, I have found myself in the baby section alot--the last few things have been for boys but my old bosses daughter is having a girl too!!
Tammy--that was scary about the dog food--I happen to use dry Iams Lamb and Rice because one of my two dogs has food allergies and it is one thing that doesn't make him itch like crazy!! We put a splash of milk on it when we want to speed them up!! My son wants to go see the new Spy Museum in DC--have you been there yet?? Hopefully it will stay warm after this last storm!!
Sue--gettin excited about the special touches in a walkin closet doesn't sound dumb to me!! Sorry to hear about the windburn!!
Marti--good luck on the house hunting!! Hope you feel better!!

Cristina--can't wait for warm weather to go motorcycle riding with hubby!!
Jane--hope the shoulder is better!!

Just a quick shout out to all of you ladies. Been a lazy weekend here. Kinda bored. Got my Just My Size Yoga dvd I bought on Ebay yesterday. I think I will open it in a few min and do it, so I can meet my exercise goal for the week.
03-18-2007, 09:57 PM
Sassy--so sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope you are not getting sick. I have to work a few nights over the next month and not looking foward to it. I give you all the credit in the world for doing all night shifts!
Jules--haven't seen the Spy Museum. I actually haven't been to DC in about 5 years. Wow, you guys got 8" of snow. We just got the southern end with all ice. I drove home from work Fri night in total ice...saw 7 cars that had run off the road. My family had to practically peel my white knuckled hands off the steering wheel by the time I got home! I'm with you and hope we have seen the end of winter with this last storm.
Sue--I know what you mean about getting all excited about doing your closet. I love doing any remodeling in the house. Hey, I've been boring you all with my countertop makeover for weeks now! I would rather shop for house stuff than for clothes. I guess because I spend my life in uniforms.
A big "hey ya'll" to the rest of you jaded ladies. Just a quickie waiting for Brother and Sisters to come on in a few minutes. Hope everyone has rested up over the weekend. Take care!

Well, I had a half-way lazy day. I always read papers and drink coffee on Sun. morning. So while DH worked in his garage that is just what I did. Then we took a 45 minute walk. I managed to NOT get wind burned today, even though it was very cold. I did cook the pork and cabbage, which was very good. I even skipped any bread and ate fruit with mine, so I felt good about my eating.
Of course, had to clean the kitchen and swifter the floors everywhere. We wonder how the floors get so dusty when there are just three very clean adults here. LOL.
Marti- I doubt I would have cooked cabbage if I was showing my house. ha. What did James think of the house idea after you told him about it? We never did get to Cracker Barrel...it is a store and restaurant actually. Very much home cooking..country style. Some nice kitchen goodies, candles, t-shirts, etc.
Tammy- I wanna go to Myrtle Beach too, I have never been there. My DD and family are going for Spring break next week. I love to hear about remodeling and home decorating. The next thing I will "yak" about will be my landscaping I am sure. I have such a black thumb...worries me. Although our old house the ground wouldn't grow much, was clay soil. Here we are in the woods and the soil is wonderful...so it should work.
Tina- Yes, I did take what you said about sugar under consideration. I am going to keep trying to stay away from it. So far I have found it easy, but I know from experience that I will have a chocolate "melt down" soon. LOL
Cristina- Of course, packing the crock pot would make you want to use it. Hope everything is going okay with the packing. I haven't been to a movie for a long time...sounds like Wild Hoggs was very funny.
Jodi- Hope you enjoy the new DVD. I've never tried yoga. Let us know how you like it. I have been getting in my walking and even 15 minutes of Dr. Oz's exercises the past two days.
Jane- Is it going to warm up for you soon? It sure is cold here. Vegas is 90 degrees.... We always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Sassy- I am sorry to hear about your FIL. I will pray for the best for him. Take care of yourself and your DH.
Mindee- I love looking at the baby things. I think I have all the grandbabies that I am going to get. DS doesn't have plans for any, and the girls are finished. Now...I do have grands that are getting up there so in 4 or 5 years I might have a great grand baby. One DGS is 20, another is 17 and DGD is 16. OMG...that makes me OLD.
Okay, gotta run for now. Hi to any of the JL's that I didn't get to tonight. Everyone have a wonderful week.

Thank You Ladies, your all so sweet.
I think it may be a bug because DH hasn't felt good since he woke up today and still doesn't and I feel blech. Not as bad as him, but I have this feeling I will be........That is the way it always is for me, on my days off I always end up getting sick from being at this "germ-factory" lol.

This is the first chance I've had to get on here all day! Just too many posts to try and catch up.
Mary and I are going to Chicago later this week! Kind of impromptu, but she and I have been trying to go for years now, (Katie and I went almost exactly 3 years ago) and we think it's finally going to work out. The timing seems good, since Dale is still home to take care of the twins, (Caylin's going with us) and the new grandson isn't due for about 7 weeks. I got a great deal at a 4 star hotel on the Magnificent Mile's Michigan Ave. :carrot: So, anyway, I'm excited about finally getting to go with Mary.
I'm wiped out and am headed for a shower then bed.

Vann~ It is good to hear from you. How did the trip go? Thanks for the congrats. We are extremely excited! When I called one of my sisters on Thursday night, her response was “yeah…..now I can go shopping for her!” My in-law’s have already gone and done some shopping, my hubby’s oldest brother and his wife have gone shopping already…we have done some window shopping so far. My mom and sister are getting some stuff together for us. I love having older sisters! I have four of them, and my third oldest sister had a little girl two years ago, so she held onto the clothes and now she is going to send them our way! It also helps that we just sent her all of Logan’s old boy clothes since she just had a boy in January.
Karin~ Thanks for the congrats! We are still letting it sink in more and more each day.
Sassy~ I hope you are feeling better soon. I will keep your FIL in my thoughts and prayers!
Jules~ In my family, it seems that every even year is a girls year and every odd year is a boys year. So, we were somewhat expecting another boy to be cooking in there, but we were both surprised (in a great way) when we found out that the munchkin is a girl!
Sue~ We love looking at baby things as well, but before we knew what we were having we just skimmed through the baby section. Now, we go into the baby section and go “awe, look at this such and such” or “awe….how about this?” Between me and my four older sisters, my parents have 18 grandchildren. My oldest sister has two boys and two girls. My second oldest sister has two boys and three girls (one is her stepdaughter). My third oldest sister has three girls and one boy. My fourth oldest sister, who is from June of 76 to January of 77 older then Tommy, has one of each. And then we have two boys and a girl. My parents had five daughters, so we were all kind of competing to see who would follow in my parents footsteps and have all of one gender.
Jane~ That is great news about your little vacation! Have fun!!

WTG Amy on your 3lbs!!!!
Happy WI to everyone else out there.

Have a great Monday.

Good JOB Amy on the 3 lb loss! ;) Good job Marti on the loss too! Is there any more losers out there? ;)
Well I'm one...yeah! 2.5 pounds loss for the week. And better yet I squeeked into the 180's today. I had to remove my bracelet but it balanced. So I count it! Next stop 170's! ;)
I had a very depressing day yesterday. I was shopping with some other women and everything I put on looked bad! I hated it so much. The other women were well one was normal weight one was a skinny teenager and one was chunky but she is shorter than me so she could fit in the styles better than me and the last woman was older and heavy. But I still felt like this biggest person there. With the biggest problem with my weight. It didn't matter. I hated it so much.

Well, I did lose one pound overall for my first week... it is better than gaining, I suppose, but I'm a bit bummed by it. Last Wednesday I had been down 3 lbs, but the weekend did me in. Yes I am not supposed to drink the first two weeks on South Beach, but I did Saturday and Sunday. I also ate some carbs on Saturday when we had friends over for dinner... however, not nearly the amount I would have eaten had I not been on the diet for the previous week.
I'm mostly mad at myself for not being able to stick to the induction program. But I know I have to think long term and not expect miraculous drops in weight....
It's still :censored: frustrating!!!
03-19-2007, 12:34 PM
Karin ~ because your gain was from this weekend....just get right back on track and you should have an amazing loss next Monday! :) Because what you gained from what you ate yesterday isn't permenant...it'll be right down again with your getting back on program plus some....so just wait you'll be doing a dance next Monday! And yes it's long term. We all need to get that into our heads. We are basically eating like we should be eating forever. So when you're at goal you will have some fun weekends once in awhile but you'll be able to get right back to the healthy eating the next day and stay slim! ;) Yes?
I'm kinda the opposite....when I goof it's because I didn't eat enough...drink enough water or eat enough foods. I'm a all or nothing girl and I worry if I eat one thing off program I'll be outta the game or something...so I choose to not eat if I can't get to something right...or I don't want to eat late so I'll stop eating after 8pm.
But I'm sure i'll have my day to come...only been on program for 3+ weeks. :)
Talk to you all soon....i'll be checking in here and there today probably because i'm feeling weak...need the support and for some reason this place really works for me. :) haha

Well I'm a neebie and I'm still trying to get posting and such figured out but I wanted to join in and say hello to everyone. Honestly I accidently came across this site and have not been able to get away. I have read so many postings and have found myself finally wanting to do something about my out of control weight. Lately I've been really down about my weight but had done nothing. After reading so many of the postings I decided it was time to do somethng about my unhealthy lifestyle besides just be depressed about it. I'm trying to figure out what type of "dieting" is going to work best for me, but I'm so glad I found you guys. I need all the advice and encouragement I can get. Hope everyone has a beautiful day!:)

Tina- Wanted to say that was a funny joke! What does that book say about the body style of carrying your fat in your gut? I have a small waist and big hips. My daughter hasn't developed her waist yet, but she carries her weight just like me. :-(
Sue- I had been getting this dvd from the library. Stores didn't have it so I had to go to Ebay. Anyways, it is by Just My Size ( you know the bra and underwear company) The lady that does it is a plus size model. A REAL plus size model, not those irritating people in the ads for plus size clothes only to see they are a size 6 instead of a size 2. I am guessing she is probably 250 lbs and she goes real slow and when doing it, of course she is really limber and can do the moves, but it makes you really say to yourself, if she can do that so can I. :-)
Sassy- Hope you and dh are feeling better.
Marti- WTG on your .6 loss!
Karin- WTG on the 1 pound loss!
Hi Moi Moi- glad you have stumbled upon us. It's a great place to be.
Well I am down a little. I know it has to be the exercise! So I am going to keep at it this week. My meds are kicked in and I feel so different about life. All of my symptoms I was having have disappeared too!!! I am even looking for a new job. I sent a resume out this morning so cross your fingers! :-)
03-19-2007, 04:47 PM
Sorry this is a quickie for me...too much going on and not enough time. I will be on tomorrow to catch up with individuals but...
TINA...how the heck do you get in a size 12? I am an inch shorter than you and at 195 and can only dream of wearing a 12. Shoot, I can't remember the last time I wore a 12...one day. Anyway, you are doing an awesome job with your weight loss! WTG :bravo: Keep up the good work and soon you will see a 10!
Today was WI and I am happy to report that I am the same. Actually, I am at 195.4 down from 195.8 last week, lol. But I am happy with that because as crazy as things have been I thought for sure I was going to have a gain. Gotta keep on myself this week and make sure I don't gain because my eating will be horrible for sure. Will be too tired to cook a healthy meal but I am going to try real hard to not overdo it and at least get my water and some fruits in. We'll see how that goes.
Better get going ladies. V will be home in a few minutes and I have to run to the store before heading to WW and then looking for a shower curtain and shower doors. Putting a curtain in our bath and doors in the main bath.
Take care and I hope everyone is having an awesome day! Hugs to everyone!

Christina ~ ha! ok....first I pull it up over my left thigh...and then I pull it up over the right one...then I inhale and get it to button...and then I inhale again and zip it up...following some deep knee bends and lunges. :) oooofa. But actually this pair is getting loose on me. It's from Express and it's the size 12 'curvey' pair. Now I carry my weight in the middle so if you look at me from the side it looks as if I'm carrying triplets. :I
Hey speaking of which ~ I started a thread on the 'support board' about my shopping trip (titled 'on my way down...) and I made a comment about 'when I get down i'll be taking a picture of myself in the dressing room'...and i'll post it! And it snowballed and now me and couple ladies have made a 'bet' that when we get down we are going to take a picture in the dressing room in our swimsuits! :) So get over there and join the deal! hahaha!
I told them that they were going to have to WAIT for me tho because I have over 50 to lose and they only have 15 and 20 respectfully. :P I told them to go have an ice cream and wait for me. hahaha!

Great job everyone on the losses.:carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Tina--I remember when I was a teenager...a long time ago....laying on the bed with a hanger to pull up the zipper...I still do the shimmy shimmy shake over the thighs and hips, but my tummy isn't flat anymore for the zipper to skim over!!! I am an all or nothing too--if I don't drink my water I don't lose and some days when I am realy stressed and busy I don't get enough calories in--my poor system doesn't know what to do!!
Cristina--at least you are headed in the right direction!!
Jodi--you are an hourglass like me, though I don't know what the book says. How was the Just My Size Yoga DVD--I love Ebay!!
Karin--just stick with it and try not to get too frustrated. We all slip from time to time.
Marti--yay for your loss!!
4Amy--yay for the minus 3 pounds!!
Mindee--Two of dd's friends are pregnant (well one just had a boy and the other is her old roomate & is due in September), our really good friends are due in May with a boy, my niece is having a boy in April, three coworkers are pregnant, one with a boy in May, another a boy in July & a third due in August, my old boss is going to be a first time grandparent with a baby girl in July and another coworker's son and his wife are having twins in September.
Jane--Chicago sounds fun!! How's the shoulder??
Sassy--still thinking of the two of you and your family!!
Sue--the only thing you have to worry about when planting in the woods is the sun and shade and the spots you thought were sunny but become shady when the leaves are fully back on the limbs!!
Tammy--I would much rather have snow than ice!! The last time we went to DC was about 5 years ago on his bday which coincides with the cherry blossoms!! The kids go to DC101's Chili cookoff almost every year and DD and gf went on a day trip last summer.
Hope everyone else is fine!!
Had to take dd to the ER this morning--turns out she has a kidney stone and a very bad kidney infection. Haven't heard from her yet this evening, but I am sure she is still sleeping.
