Default Day 28

Ok , so it is day 28 on my diet, and tomorrow is the official weighin, but I did weigh myself today and I only lost 1 lb last week! I am so discouraged, I was good, I kept under my calorie allotment, I excercised for at least an hour every day, and yet.........maybe I just got too used to losing 2lbs a week? I really wanted to see 169 on the scale, NOT 170.......I mean, I still lost, and I am now officially 10lbs gone, but I want more and I want it NOW LOL!!

Can anyone relate? On a related note, has anyone taken those fiber supplements that you either drink or sprinkle on your food? I am low on fiber and I need to get that number up.

Thanks for letting my kvetch!

I can relate! I have been stuck on different weights for weeks at a time. But if you hang in there, you'll see the drop later on. Weight loss isn't a nice straight line except in the long run. Keep going! Don't give up! Have patience and stick with your program!

I found it was very important to find non-scale related goals to motivate myself. When I was losing weight, there were many weeks when I didn't lose ANY weight. Weight loss is not predictable or linear and the scale can be extremely frustrating. I was careful to make goals that I could control since I could not control the scale.

You lost a pound, that is GREAT, any weight lost is a cause for celebration.

Thank you Jay and Glory! I think I am disapointed in myself more then anything. But you are both right, I need to look at the long term goal which will happen, whether at 1lb a week or 2, or there will be times when I will lose nothing at the end of the week. But I will get to my goal!

Thanks very much! And Glory, I read your story, and that has helped reignite my motivation. (and you look killer in those little jeans! )

nancy -- YAY! A pound!! It's really hard, cause we want to see the weight go *poof*! but if you want it to stay *poof* it will take a while.

Remember also that the scale doesn't just show the fat you lost, but it measures ALL of you. Fat, muscle, bone, skin, hair, water... the point is that on a day to day basis it's not the best tool to measure fat loss. You might have lost another 1/2 pound of fat but be retaining a 1/2 pound of water. How would you know?? You don't?

That's why other ways of measuring progress are so important. Like how you feel and how your clothes fit and how many days you've exercised.

Congrats! You're doing this!

I know it's hard to accept when you have a week where you don't lose as much as you're used to....a couple weeks ago I lost only .2 of a pound after having been on plan and good all week. Just remind yourself that as long as it is going in a downward trend, you're doing the right thing! Some weeks you will lose more than others, but on those lower weight loss weeks, you may be losing more inches....it all adds up either way....so keep your chin up, you're doing great!

I think we've all been there. I tell everyone, if you haven't done so yet, take your measurements. I find it to be a much truer idea of what is going on. OK, the scale didn't move, or didn't move as much as I had hoped, here's the thing. Measurements are measurements are measurements. They don't care what the scale says! And neither do clothes. You don't have to ONLY weigh in at 140 to fit a size 6, some weigh more, some weigh less, depending on build and muscle amount. So, embrace your tape measure, use the scale as just another tool, not the be all end all.

I'd like to thank everyone again for the good advice and the definate reality check! After all, this weight didn't appear overnight, and unfortunately it won't leave overnight either lol

I will make a vow, I will pay more attention to how my clothes feel and ONLY weigh in once a week. Oddly enough, I weighed in this morning (my weigh in day) and I lost that pound I was so mad about yesterday. I have learned my lesson, ladies, and again I thank you for the support!
