Hi Ladies:
I was wondering if Lifting weights helps with Loose Skin? I have loose skin in my arms (I'm now remembering when My sis had the old lady arms) Would lifting/exercise help?
Thanks,
Kier

I'm lurking (again) but this question has been asked by many people before. I believe in the Maintainers forum they have a sticky about loose skin. Unfortunately, lifting weights won't tighten the skin but it will help improve your overall shape.

Hi, Im very new but I just wanted to give info on my experience with this. About 7 years ago I lost around 80 lbs and had a lot of problems with the saggy skin. I still have the same problems, everywhere but especially under my arms. The poster above me was right ( depending on the extent of the weight youve lost ), weight lifting will help with the appearance, but wont cure it. 7 years later I still have it, but the bright side is it does tighten some and look better. Ive found the best results by working my triceps twice a week, and at least two different exercises each time. If you are working out at a gym i would suggest tricep pull down with a rope, they are very effective and will give you some definition. Also, dont forget to work the opposite side, the bicep, the same amount. If you have any other questions Id be happen to give you my input!

Nothing cures loose skin. But the waving upper arm thing that a lot of women have isn't loose skin.

Thanks Ladies!
I'd just like to firm up the overall Area a bit. The skin will do whatever it's goign to do

hmmmm. i know that nothing short of plastic surgery will get rid of the wavy arm things, BUT, i can also tell you that my skin was tighter when i was doing triceps exercises with weights. maybe not enough that anyone else would notice, but i sure did!

whether or not it helps with the skin, however, it's a good idea to lift weights anyway so that you can build muscle and burn off as much fat as possible - and KEEP IT OFF!!!!

Lifting two gallon jugs with something in them as weights also has been helping me.

When did your doctor say you could start exercising ?

Last Thursday, though I can't do any abs work yet. Everything else has to be "as tolerated," and not too heavy.

Wow, my doc said NO exercise of any sort until after 6 weeks.
