The fact that I am opening all the morning threads as of late has lead me to one question.... where are Lolly and Kirsty (is she still on that cruise?).
Anyhoo, I am getting along better with the manager I am not a huge fan of. I even bought a huge bag of rockets for everyone at work and then we discovered a huge bowl of halloween Candy. I was really good, I just had one thing of rockets (I think they're called smarties in the US, smarties in Canada are chocolates like m&ms, rockets at small disked shaped candies that have a powdery taste). I have class until 6 this evening and an exam tomorrow, so no time for Halloween fun (plus I live in a kidless building).
JenK: That rocks about the LSAT scores.... I'll most likely take mine in June.
Nascar Jen: Wow, that is amazing abotu the bone marrow registry. I have an uncle with a pre-leukemic condition and an aunt who died of Leukemia, so I am happy to hear of when people sign themselves up. I should make my trip down to Canadian blood services in a while to do the same.
Becky: to be honest, I am super nervous about meeting the parents. Gotta make sure my french is okay that day. My boyfriend keeps teasing me about his family... I think he's teasing me;)
Janet: First of all, I am so sorry about your loss. Secondly, yeah the fun size candy bars are evil, the points add up very quickly:(
Kim: well for prezzies I get a 30% discount which isn't bad (50% on clothes for me to wear at the store as long as it is current). The clothes in my store are in the mid-retail catergory, so I can get a $40 sweater for about $27 which is pretty good!
KT: yeah I am trying to look at stuff which he kind of needs. He's lost some weight (with hardly trying... men are lucky), so he needs a new belt, and I think he needs a pair of leather gloves:)
Two friends of mine live together and just got engaged. I am thinking of combining together with some friends of mine and buying them a gift-certificate at Eaton's where they could possibly buy linen or small appliances just for now... It's at a store they're not registered at, BUT they're not gettting married until 2003. This would be a combination Christmas/Engagement gift, do ya think it's a good idea?
Take Care!

Hi all! I am still looking for a job so I thought I'd pop in and say hi. I did have a 3rd interview last week, so I feel good about that. I just don't know when they are going to let me know. Other than that, NOTHING! It is so weird, I have sent out over 100 resumes and gotten 5 phone calls and interviewed for 2 positions. When I came here I had a ton of interviews and a few OFFERS to decide between. I just have to keep telling myself to have patience.
In the meantime my apartment is soooo clean and my DH and I have been eating really good food. My cooking has gotten much better if I do say so myself. I think I am going to WI today and I don't think it will go well. I have been so hungry lately.
I wish I could reply to everyone, but I need to get back to the hunt. I hope all is well with you all.
Ali ~ good luck with the parents. It should be a good time! I love my in-laws except they always pile on the guilt trip that we live so far away.
Janet ~ My thoughts are with you. I hope you feel better soon.
Jen ~ Emma is so cute! What is her b-day? My DH and I just celebrated our anniversary on Oct 28.
Hi to all the newbies and Oldies! TTYL!

Hey Ladies,
Well I did good yesterday evening. I didn't continue the binge in fact I didn't eat anything after 5. I ended up going to watch a movie with b/f and we shut if off. We couldn't get into it so we just had snuggle time:) I had a really nice time and even got home by midnight which was good. The only horrible thing that happened is his dog Maximus, whom I usually love dearly, ate my Skechers :( It sounds funny when I write it and it was kinda funny last night but I am sad. I loved them and I waited for them to go on sale. They were light purlple and gray and they were backless. Oh well they are in shoe heaven. He said he will buy me a new pair. He better;)
Ok on the less traumatic front, Happy Halloween!! Anyone have fun parties ???? I am invited to one but I am not sure if I will go or not. My sister is making dinner for me and my other sisters and their husband and then we will get my precious niece (celia) ready for trick or treating. She is 8 1/2 months old and she is going to be a frog. Anyways I would kind of like to veg at home. B/f is going to school to study so not snuggle time this evening. OH well.
Ali- I think you will do well with the fam!! Keep us posted!
Kay- Good luck on the job front and at WI!
Everyone else HI!!!!! Come out come out where ever you are!
Have a great day everyone and I will check in later!

Happy Halloween everybody!!!
I hope everyone is having a good day.
Ali - way to start the threads
Kay - good luck on the continuing job hunt
Becky - what a rotten dog!! He must be jealous of you.
Belle - So what??!! Scary, exciting, about time?? How are you feeling about it?
I've decided to definately apply for nursing school. I may be able to get into the 3rd year of a four year program if I take a thousand dollar course first and last night my grandfather said he'd pay for the course - YAY! the less I'm in debt going back to school the better. I might not get in though so the other option is the 2 year wait for a 4 year program at College. I'm excited though. School scary, job prospects good. I have to go apply for another temp job. THis one ends on Friday.
Have a scary day.

Sorry, I had to go to a meeting...
Lately b/f has been making comments about how we practically live together, stuff liek that, and then yesterday he gets a notice under his door that says that his landlord renovated a 2 bedroom next door its for rent and its offered to tenants before the public. So he reads it and a couple of hours later says - hey, wanna look at that apt wtih me? then he says he's been thinking about it for months and thinks we are ready to move in together.
WOW. I was a little uneasy at first (you know the rollercoaster that our relationship has been, though its been MUCH better the past 4 months) since he was so unsure of what he felt for me for so long and stuff, I was taken aback! But I do want it, I think its good (plus we are wasting $ right now). It IS scary though, its commitment. And I am shocked he was thinking about it. I asked him why he never mentioned it to me that he was seriously thinking about it and his very logical reply was "why talk about it until I was sure it was right". RIGHHHHTTT......
SO that is the story....
I mean, here is a guy I thought would never love me or say I love you let alone move in. So its a surprise (albeit, a pleasant one).
Ali - Smarties are not smarties in teh states?? Things you don't know about a country so close!! Glad to hear things are better at work!
JenK - congrats on the LSAT!!
Kay - good luck with your job, aren't interviews gruelling? Then you wait and wait....on pins and needles. May the force be wtih you!!
The dog ate your shoes Becky? I'd be sad too, but hey, maybe you'll get a new pair. My puppies are very good about shoes, even as little guys they didn't eat shoes. But one of them loves my big stuffed gorilla slipper, which is now mulitated.
KT - a friend of mine is doing the excellerated course a the Uof C. She will be a nurse in 6 more months, but its very tough!! She never passed her MCAT. Oh well, but I think her real calling is to be a nurse!! I really do. Good luck, I think fate is at work.
Hi Stacey!!!! How'd WI go? Hope all is well...
Kay, I better go, have a good HALLOWEEN!! Stay out of trouble!! I'll keep you all posted on the apt thingy!

Belle - Congrats!! I'm glad things with b/f have improved so much. You sound so happy!!
Katie - Congrats on making the decision to go to nursing school. Good luck!
Becky - Sorry to hear about your shoes. :( I agree - the dog must be jealous of you!
Kay - Keep your chin up about the job hunt. The market is tough right now, so it may take a while but I'm sure you will find something!
Ali - I think the gift certificate idea for your friends is a good one. Even though they aren't getting married for a while, they will certainly need some things now that they live together.
And by the way, I LOVE your smarties (more than m&ms) There is an Irish store near me that I buy them from when I get a craving!!
Happy Halloween everyone!!
Jen
PS - I have a blind date tomorrow...:dizzy:

It took awhile, but my boss decided to go to lunch.
Well, my update...I went to WI and gained 1.7# Not too damn bad for being as lazy as I've been.
Although:
1) I've been more conscious of my eating the past two weeks
and
2) I've been walking my dog everyday.
So, it's back on track for me. I don't even want any Halloween candy right now.
I ate soup for lunch along with drinking a big thing of water. I'm just really sleepy now.
Is it the weekend yet?
Kay: Cool on the interviews! Good luck on call backs
Belle: Go with your heart. You're not make a lifetime commitment by moving in, you're just playing house. :) At least this way you'll know if you're compatible. Hey, maybe he farts so bad you won't be able to stand it! At least you knew ahead of time!
I'm really hip on the smilies today!
Did anyone dress up for halloween? I'm a hippie!:smoking:
I am wearing my father in laws bellbottoms and his woven vest.
Oh yeah, and his peace sign chains, too! He was totally a hippie so I went over to my inlaws last night and borrowed his clothes.
hee hee
Well, I should take advantage of this "break" and have some me time. The big bad boss will be back shortly. Wow! That's like she sells sea shells by the sea shore!
:spin:
Bye for now!

Hey, all! Happy Halloween! I have a spooky article to share about Halloween. Freaked me right out. I'll post it after I post.
I'm going to a party tonight! Yay! Should be fun. The guy who's having it is having a band. There's supposed to be a bonfire, but Virginia is under a burn ban at the moment so I'm not sure if that's going to happen.
Ali: Do your b/f parents only speak French? Good luck with that. I wish I spoke another language really well. I used to know German pretty well, when I lived there, but that was 11 years ago. And my class in Spanish failed miserably. I can't say a thing.
Becky: I can't count how many things my dogs have destroyed over the years. The most serious was my down comforter. My younger dog ripped a hole in it and I know the two of them must have gleefully tossed feathers everywhere. The first time, my mom managed to sew it up for me. The second time, it was bye-bye comforter. I got a new one for my birthday this year and my bedroom door stays closed during the day. They also like electric blankets. Toby, my older dog, apparently thinks it's a challenge to put out the wires. He's lucky he didn't zap himself, but I don't use those blankets anymore.
Kier: Yay on joining the gym. Your note to your roomies made me laugh. I hope you're keeping your own stash of TP in case they don't come through!
JenK: OOH! Blind date! How exciting. You must update us afterward ...
Hi to Stacey, Belle (I sent you an email), Kay, Jen, anyone else who hasn't posted yet. I gotta go meet some firefighters (hubba, hubba). See ya later!

Hi. I gotta keep this short cause I'm getting ready to leave work. Sorry I didn't get to post earlier. I've been really busy today. I did manage to walk on my own during lunch even though none of the other gals could join me. I walked outside in the beautiful sunshine (almost 70 degrees today - yippee!) and I really pushed myself too. I could feel the burn in my legs when I was done. Another girl walked with me during our 15 min. break this afternoon but it wasn't as brisk as my lunch time walk. Nevertheless, I got to walk and I'm happy about that. I'm still drinking water for today. I need to catch up on that. I'll try to post more tomorrow. Have a spectacular evening ladies and happy halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEEN!
Well another year that I won't be passing out candy... which is ok in some sense and I usually dug into it before
the 31st even got here. But we do go overboard with the treats at work but I am ready! I have several banked
points so just in case I "slip" a little, I won't fare too bad. I'll take my share of course but I will also give some
to Todd.
Speaking of, he seems to be feeling better when I left for work. He must have slept most of it off as he was in bed
for most of the day and night. Just as long as I don't get it. Besides, he has to take me out for my birthday dinner
on Saturday like we planned. My grandma was supposed to take me out today for a birthday lunch, but we
had to postpone as I had a meeting that I HAD to go to. Turns out we are doing it on Saturday too! . Now
THAT will be a tough day. But it is only 1 day out of 7
I might be back in the city before all the treaters are home as I was at work 2 hours early for that meeting. I love
to see the little ones dressed up... they are so cute! ALmost makes me want to have one... almost. And it
will be nice to be home early... watch some TV and make a double batch of the Arabiatta Sauce since Todd
finished it off.
Hey did anyone watch that special on A&E last night about the rise in overweight and obese children? I stayed up late to watch it and I was relating to everything that was said. I was crying at one point as I felt for these kids. One girl who was 13 developed insulin dependant diabetes. Another girl was 5'0 and weighed 178... that was more than me before I started WW, and I am 5'7". It really made me realize how far I have come and what I have learned. I wish I would have taped it so others could have watched it.
Have a great night with the kiddies everyone!

Happy Halloeen Pals!
How is eveyone doing? I have had a bad day food-wise and I haven't even indulged in any candy :( Good thing tomorrow is a new day. Its been a very stressful day but my DF is soooo wonderful!! He helps me get through all the crap I have to deal with thanks to my silly family. I love him sooo much! Anyway I'm glad that the day is mostly over. I really have to get back on track tomorrow. Why is life so much more stressful when you have PMS? I alwasy have 10 things blowing up in my face when its PMS time. So much fun!
Belle WOW that is some big news! Did you give him an answer already? What do your parents think? When we made the decision my parents were happy but his Dad wasn't. All in all it has turned out very well now.
Ali, Have fun meeting the parents. When I met Dallas' parents I had to do it alone! He was living three hours away and I was coming up to visit him. He needed me to pick up his new computer from his paretns house beofre I left. That was terrifying! Luck for me they are wonderful.
Shauna, great job with the walking. You're motivating me!
Becky, that sucks about your shoes :( I hope that you can get some new ones. I grow attached to my shoes too.
Belle 67, glad to hear Todd is feeling better. Good luck with the candy tonight.
Kim have fun at your party! your costume sounds great! Where did you post that article? Sounds fun!
Stacey, sorry to hear your boss is riding your rear! Glad to hear you're back on track
Kier you crack me up! Have fun at the gym
JenK let us know how the blind date goes ;) Are you hooking up with this person with friends or on your own? Are you nervous? I would be!
KT that's so great about going to school. I think nursing will be very rewarding. Ki nd of nice when you get your future settled.
Kay sorry to hear you're still having no luck with jobs. Your hubby must feel spoiled though :)
