Hope no one minds that I started the new thread! We have a long month and Spring is starting to appear (or will soon)! What are your goals?

Mine is simple: 90 miles

March Goal: 90 fitness miles
Miles completed: 5 miles
Miles remaining: 85 miles

i'm new here, i liked the march walk/run challege. i havn't walked in a long time, but u make me wanna dust the old treadmill off, and try again!

I'll be in for 125 again. I'm confident I'll hit it this month having had a look at my training plan, so I might even up it a bit later in the month.

I'm only commiting to 50 this month. I feel terrible after failing to reach my goals for the past 2 months. The weather here is always unpredictable for this month and I hate the treadmill and do other workouts on nasty days so I'm gonna be realistic.

That's what I call a good run. Just about 20 miles, and I ran every step of it in just over 3 hours. That's bumped the total up a bit!

5 miles cross country today. The courses aren't accurately measured, but it felt roughly that so that's what I'll claim.

Yesterday I did another 4 fast miles!

My goal is 220,000 steps in the month of March (10,000 in at least 22 days)

Count me in too! I am running a 5K on March 31, so I really need to get in gear!

Goal: 55 miles

I will also do some cross training (with the FIRM), but this won't count toward my miles.

I have already done 3 miles, so 52 to go!

lets see 83 miles in january, 20 in february....lets call it 65

I just ran/walked 4 miles, so that puts me at 7/55 so far!

And Wanda, I started running when I was at 222 lbs. (I used the Couch to 5K program on coolrunnings.com). If you are interested in running, you should give it a try!

I started running at 260, so you can never be too fat as long as you take it gently!

I did 7 miles with running club tonight, which takes me to 36.1/125 and 32 miles in the past 3 days. I'm having a rest day tomorrow :)

I got on the treadmill after a REALLY busy day yesterday, fully intending to only do 1 mile. I guilted myself into staying on for 55 minutes, which was 3.11 miles! Hoping for another long workout today, since I leave for Kansas City (professional conference) tomorrow until Sunday. I want to have at least 18 miles done this week (another challenge I'm involved in) and I'm a bit over halfway there.

argh! my reply disappeared! oh well--

I am new to running and newer to the forum. I have started the couch to 5K program and I am completely hooked. I am forcing myself to go every other day and stay on track but I want to keep running! I am loving it!

Anyway, on Monday I did W3w1-- I cannot believe that this time last month I couldn't run for longer than 30 seconds at a time, and now I can run for three minutes at a time! Unbelievable. Can't wait to go again today, although i was pretty surprised when I used the online pedometer thing to chart my distance and saw that it takes me about 35 minutes to run/walk about 2.5 miles. I thought I was going much farther. Oh well, I will get there someday.

Any other runners from the South? i am so worried about what will happen when it is 85 degrees at 7 in the morning with 86% humidity.

Great challenge. I'm committing to 60. I typically get to walk (treadmill at gym) only 4-5 days a week and get in about 3 miles each time.

Oh, Monica, your twins are adorable!:hug: Yes, a good reason to want to be healthy!

I'm at 158 today. Wanna be down to 135-140. I'm just a wee one vertically, at 5 ft and a bit.

And so, before I go to work I want to do 10 minutes on the T.L. Gazelle. It needs a new battery, so I'm off to do that before I do anything else.

I couldn't find the thread for a couple of days don't know what happened,
it's cold in Ma so I am walking fast...but...big problem I do watp video in the house if I run the house will shake!!!

Greetings! Nice to see you all setting goals as we walk/run into springtime!

I know I've been slack on reporting my miles & actually haven't set a goal for Feb or Mar...but I have a reason! I'm madly trying to prepare for my triathlon so I'm not focusing on miles at this point and I've also recently discovered Bikram (hot) yoga. I love it!!!! It's a 90 minute yoga class in a room heated to around 105 degrees. I just signed up for 1 month unlimited classes, so over the next 4 weeks I am going to go to as many Bikram classes as I can fit into my schedule. I think it's really helping my body recover from my triathlon workouts. I seriously needed to focus on my flexibility, so this seems to be just the thing. I actually threw up after my first class, but now I feel WONDERFUL. I've learned that taking an Emergen-C right before class wipes out any tummy upset or headaches. And, you must be super hydrated BEFORE coming to class. Knowing I'm going to yoga class really keeps me on track with my water intake.

On the running front, I'm running a 10k on March 24th. My running buddy just moved away, so I'm going this one solo. I want to be able to comfortably run a 10k before the triathlon rolls around. Since the 5k run is the last leg of the triathlon I don't want to struggle through it.

I guess my only real goal that i can fully commit to at this time with running is sticking to my Couch to 5k program, which I am faithfully doing every other day.

Yesterday was a rough one. I started counting down the hours while at work, and then when it was time to go running, it was one of those ones where your legs feel like they are dipped in cement. But I did finish, and worked up a good sweat while I was at it. Lots of knee pain, and a few hours laying on the couch with bags of frozen vegetables on my knees. :p

The weeks are really flying by! Tomorrow is the last workout for week 3, and then it is on to 4! I can't believe that I am really doing this!

As inspired by Genesis, here's my first post. Although I have a bad back and other health issues which keep me from being the jockette I used to be, I still try and be as active as possible. This includes taking reformer Pilates classes two to three times a week. So along with my Pilates commitment, I'll make a March mileage commitment as well. I can't walk or run along with you guys, but I can pedal on my recumbent and accumulate miles on the elliptical. So here we go (keeping in mind 11 days of March have come and gone):

Elliptical - 40 miles
Recumbent - 40 miles

I guess I'll find out how reasonable these goals are I as go. Wish me luck!!

Hi there I am new to this site and the walk/run chalange sounds great. I live in Osoyoos BC Canada and spring is almost here so getting out is a lot nicer. I recently purchased a set of walking poles, so here goes. I have 30 pounds I would like to get rid of. Wish me luck!

I started week 4 in the Couch to 5 K yesterday, and it was the first workout in the plan that I was unable to complete. Boo! Hopefully I was just too tired- I caught myself yawning as I was doing it! I am going to try again today maybe. but man, my knees are really hurting. I bought a brace, but it gave me killer cramps in the bottom of my foot. I hope that this gets better as I become more accustomed to doing it- I don't want to not be able to run. :(

This is my first posting on this site and my goal for the next 5 weeks is to make it thru the couch to 5K program and run a 5K in May. I did a 20 mile race yesterday to take me to 106.1/125. I've got a half marathon next weekend so I should make 125 easily. Today was a rest day so I went white water rafting instead.

Helen, Congratulations on your one yr. maintainance. I only posted here because there are less posts than on the UK thread. I saw your new dress on your blog and your picture is really a boost to all of us who need to lose. I just started walking 5 to 6 mi. a day and I have been so sore. But your story is so encouraging.

I've been reading your thread and I want to join in for April. I recently moved into a "new" (105 years old) home and exercise has gone by the wayside while we paint inside and do yardwork on nice days. I'm ready to get into the walking/running groove. You all are doing great.

Brandy - that was a speed session, I'm usually slower than that! Today was my long slow run, I did 19 miles which I'm pretty pleased with.


Not a bad end of month total, I don't think I'll be starting April's tally off tomorrow though, I think I've earned a rest!
