I started last month and am a bit of a newbie( who is now 18 pounds lighter).
I am happy to report that I logged 71 miles in the month of February and my new goal is to work towards adding an extra mile a day when I can !:carrot:

Sirak - great job on the 18 pounds. We're glad to have you!!!
I jogged 2 miles, walked 1 mile and did the strength training video this morning. My arms were tired on my way to work. I guess perhaps I'm making some bicep/tricep progress but they're so flabby I'm thinking nothing short of surgery will fix them. But I'm trying none the less.
Have a great day!

Welcome, Sirak!! Congratulations on your weight loss!:carrot:
I did the walk slim 3 miles this morning. May just get another mile or so in later. I know tomorrow it's going to be hard to get any exercise in with DH's doctor appointment. Might as well rack up the miles when I can and while I'm feeling motivated LOL
Editing to add that I just finished up 2 more miles :) DH took our 3 yo DD with him to his mom's for a little bit so I squeezed in the muscle and power miles with 3 lb weights.

KAREN...I'm so sorry to hear about your DH, but atleast it was caught and you can get it under control now before it gets worse.

I have had a GREAT 2007! I am planning on continuing my great streak (today was Day 200!) and losing many more pounds before I go to Spain in June!
We got out early yesterday and today due to weather and I'm really wondering what tomorrow will bring! This afternoon, since I hadn't walked this morning, I did the 5 mile with all the boosters. It felt GREAT, but SO SLOW compared to any of the Walk Slim workouts! I remember when I first got the 5 mile and I thought I would DIE before I got through it!
Hope everyone is staying safe and warm!

Hi, I would like to join too. I am a long-time video exerciser and Leslie is my favourite. Lately, I have not been motivated to do anything else. I have a really busy schedule right now: I work during the week, teach on Sunday mornings, babysit part-time, am preparing for a course which will improve my job odds, and I am looking for a new job for September (I am a teacher and my current contract ends in June). So I have alot going on!
Anyway, I have lots of Leslie workouts. I just got the Walk Slim this week. I did the firming workout and the first mile of the two-mile tape tonight. It was late, so I stopped after one mile, as I had already done the firming tape.

Did the 2 mile walk slim this morning. Off to get ready so we can go to DH's first appointment with our GP about his diabetes. I'm hoping this afternoon or even this evening since it's Friday and I won't have to rush getting homework and things done I can get a few more miles in. I feel like I'm finally "back"!!! And wanting to get more than just a couple of miles in a day.
Michele, WTG on the 200 day streak!!! That is amazing!!! :bravo:

Hi, all,
I've been following this thread for about a month and thought I'd jump in and join you lovely ladies (and perhaps gentlemen). I started doing Leslie's tapes a month ago, just to give myself a break from the treadmill - and discovered that I like her work outs much better! Aside from her positive, perky demeanor, the workouts use more muscles and they're fun to do!
I had been doing the 3-mile Super Fat Burning tape, and have just started the 4-mile Express Super Challenge and WATP for Abs.
I'm interested in knowing a little more about the 5-mile Advanced Walk DVD - do you have to do all 5 miles or can you mix and match the miles by selecting tracks on the DVD?
I'm looking forward to walking with Leslie and my new cyer-friends!

Bethel: The 5 mile is set up so you can do all 5 miles (1 with each booster plus a fast walk mile and a jog interval mile) or you can choose any of 3 3-mile walks (fast mile, jog mile plus one booster mile). You also have the option of just music without Leslie's chatter. I tried that once and hated not knowing what she was saying! I haven't tried choosing my own tracks, but I bet you could do it if you wanted to use the remote while you are working out.
In addition to the 5 mile, you might want to check out Leslie's newest set: Walk Slim! It is actually several DVD's in a set, but well worth the money! One DVD has a 2 mile that includes some jog intervals (you can fast walk if you're not up to jogging). The second one is 3 fast miles (faster than her other 3 miles). The third one is 4 fast miles, which includes more jog intervals. The last one is a firming workout that uses the stretchie (included). 9 miles of workouts PLUS a 30+ minute firming workout for about $40--what a deal! I have been doing it consistently for about a month and have not tired of it yet! I tried the 5 mile last night for the first time since I got Walk Slim and it felt slow by comparison. Either way, both workouts offer variety and are GREAT fat burners!

Hello everyone! I usually post @ the Biggest Loser forum but decided to log my exercise here with all of you lovely ladies (and dudes?) hehe! I've been a bit stressed & depressed and just went through a 2 day binge eating **** where I gained 5 pounds. :( I feel like crap, but at least today I got my butt up and did 2 miles WATP's. I hope to continue this daily. It used to be so easy for me, but I totally struggled today. it's amazing how a few extra LBS will make you feel like a whale.

Hi everyone!
I did the 3 mile fat buster today and didn't use the weights for the whole time but for at least half so that is a big improvement for me. I've lost a total of 10 pounds now so I think I will celebrate by buying a new DVD or maybe the walk slim set since everyone seems to like it so much. I tried dieting alone and wasn't seeing much results but since I added a few calories and started working out with WATP I've started to lose again. How did you come up with your 900 mile goals. I'm impressed by the results a lot of you are seeing and I want to keep in the losing trend. How fast did you step up your pace and miles. I did the 3 mile today but I get pretty tired and winded on the last mile. I'm also interested in the ones that add jogging but when I tried jogging outdoors before I got awful shin splints and that was when I was in better shape and walking a lot. I defintely see more results with this than with just the treadmill. Any advice for us beginners?:?:
Thanks, CJ

Thanks, Karen! I hope all goes well as you learn how to eat right for hubby's diabetes!
Today was another snow day--we had horrible blowing snow, so drifting and visibility were big problems. I did the 3 fast Walk Slim miles followed by 20 minutes on the treadmill. I had only planned on the WATP, but remembered another challenge I am part of and we just increased our goal to 50 minutes 6 days a week. So I had planned on just doing the extra 5 minutes. The next thing I know, I've been on for 15 and decided that I could finish out the mile, which lead to going for an even 20 minutes and a total of 1.1 miles! Funny how good music distracts you!
Have a great weekend!

Hi to all the new posters. I totally agree with Michele about the walk slim collection vs. the 5 mile advanced. I get a much better workout from it to the point I was thinking of selling it on ebay, but I doubt I'd actually part with a WATP video.
I did 4 miles walk slim this morning and this weekend will be all skiing so no aerobic exercise. Skiing is bursts of aerobic so I don't know where it fits in. Food is good again today. I did lose .2 pound - So that's about 3-4 oz. Whoopee!!! Alright, I will take it and was happy to see a little more gap between me and 170.

My stuff is older-I have WATP Three mile for abs, "The Power Mile" and a Three mile tape. I bought my older daughter a five mile set for her birthday and she has yet to use it. Perhaps she will give it back to me for Mother's Day. On the other hand she might begin to use it once I start borrowing her clothes.:D
I did Powermile yesterday morning and the Ab workout in the afternoon yesterday. I try to use four pound weights. I might not make it all the way.
This morning I did the Powermile alone and then this afternoon I worked out with dumb bells and then did the three mile for abs

Good afternoon! I finished the Walk Slim 4 fast miles awhile ago and am now getting ready for the rest of my day! Hubby will soon go start the paperwork for delivery of our new Ford Explorer, which he has wanted for SO LONG! We should get it later this week. Then, we're going out to celebrate our son's 11th birthday, which was on Thursday. Hubby was out of town on business then and even if he HAD been home, the weather would not have allowed us to do anything, so it all works out! Not sure where he'll choose, but I'll do my best to make reasonable choices!
Have a great weekend!

Hello Ladies,
Please let me join you I am a Leslie fan for years now, but, I have most of some real old stuff today I did watp for abs 2 mile, and I'm a bit out of practice because I have been a little lazy..I always feel better when I am walking and don't know why I stop...but I am getting back on track because I refuse to be fat and 50 (my birthday is in Jan so I have 9 months to drop at least 50lbs)
My husband says that I loose faster walking on the treadmil but Leslie feels like company...
does anyone feel that they loose more using other programs or do you all find you get good results with watp?????
Sunday I hope to walk twice up to about 8,000 steps today
good luck to all

Hey guys!
Sorry I kinda dropped off the earth there for a little while; lots of family drama that just kinda got to me. I spent some time at my boyfriend's lake cabin and just mellowed out.
I plan on starting back with my WATP routine in the morning. I gotta get back on track.
Welcome to the board Wanda! To answer your question about results, at first all I did was WATP and it helped me drop some initial weight. Now, I combine it with the treadmill and I get results that make me happy. Even though I'm sure there are other methods I could use that might give me faster results, walking is natural, and it's not dancy or fancy or anything that would make it complicated and make me want to give up.

Just finished the 4 mile WATP express. My right knee is bothering me :( Not sure what I did to it, but I am determined not to allow it to sideline me so I thought doing a long workout that wasn't as intense as the WS might be a good compromise. Hopefully it'll feel better in a day or two because I cannot believe that those older workouts feel somewhat easy now! I so remember doing that 4 mile for the first time last year and thinking I would absolutely drop dead LOL

Good afternoon, all! I just did the Power Mile and the Walk & Kick workouts.
In answer to a previous question regarding whether weight loss is faster with treadmill or Leslie, my opnion is that as long as we are developing the good habit of exercising on a regular basis (and eating sensibly), the weight will come off. Remember that this is a lifestyle change, not just a quick fix.
I love the treadmill when I want to enjoy some good music (or even a book on tape), and I love Leslie for the positive affirmation, variety, and using more muscle groups.

Wanda- Leslie has always been a basis of sucess for me. I have used her when I was pregnant( at 40) until I stopped gaining weight and the Dr got concerned. The pregnancy was healthy and I think that the walking I had done helped me through part of the labor since the anesthesia nurse on call was an hour and a half away.
I took the day off yesterday ( went to Bass Pro Shop) and today I did my power mile and the three mile for abs. It is still really new to do them together- but I am getting better.

Hey Wanda, I used to live in Peabody! My husband is from there. Now we live out here in Colorado and love it. :)
I do the WATP's videos too. I'm doing the 3 mile Super Fat Burn, then I do the 2 mile High Calorie burn and then the 1 mile Get Up and Get Started. So I'm now doing 6 miles a day. Just want to be able to keep it up. :) Today I started adding 1 1/2 pound wrist weights to the 1 mile walk. I really like walking with Leslie--- not nearly as boring as walking on the treadmill.!!
Just wanted to say Hello. Enjoy your walks! Karen

Hi ladies, It's so nice to see so many walkers. I'm playing catch up today. I walked Friday for 40 minutes, then walked today with DH outside 5.25 miles (81 minutes). I'm also officially starting weight training today, so I worked on it for about 60 minutes. I would estimate that 1/3 of that time was spent reading my book making sure my form was correct :dizzy:, so I'm only counting 40 minutes as exercise.
Take care everyone!

Hi all, looks like everyone had a busy weekend. The skiing was good - the conditions just okay, but the sun was shining and it was in the mid 50's. I forgot sunscreen on Saturday and burnt. I loaded lots of sunscreen on yesterday so it didn't get worse. My scalp definitely got burnt. Last night's shower let me know that. I got loads of exercise as I skied about 8 hours each day. This morning I only jogged 1 mile and walked 2 miles. I'm a little tired but not too bad.
And Wanda, I totally agree that it's a lifestyle change to get results. I started with leslie and in many year, I'll finish with Leslie. But I could never have returned to skiing if it hadn't been for WATP. Basically, if you don't push yourself a bit, you'll plateau. Like the many others here, I started with her older stuff, then got the 5 mile advanced (as well as the 1 mile jog that I redo for multiple miles) and just started Walk Slim which is definitely her most difficult workout. BTW, a friend on another thread is doing 50 by 50 since her 50th birthday is in December. So maybe you could start a group for that. :)

Good evening. I spent much of the day doing things around the house, including sewing a new valance for my daughter's window. As a result, it was almost 7:30 before I got in a workout and I didn't feel like doing a long one. I chose the 2 fast start Walk Slim miles.
Tomorrow will be interesting, as we have a tax appointment at 9am and then the kids and I are spending some time shopping and out to lunch. I leave on Thursday morning for my professional conference in Kansas City, so we're spending our quality Spring Break time early in the week. I'll squeeze in a workout sometime tomorrow afternoon before we go pick up our new Explorer at 5!
Have a great week!

Marie,
I love the 50 by 50 idea, but I am very new to this web site, so maybe I'll wait and see if I find any potential takers. I have a 100 mile self goal this month and I am climbing the appilacian trail on another site America on the Move.
Today like yesterday I had 2 walks with Leslie the 3 mile high energy walk in the am and the 2 miles watp for abs in the pm...I went over the majic 10,000 a few moments age and will probable add another 200 steps before bed.
Thanks to everyone for their insights and tips.

I hadn't done that one in so long I actually forgot what it was until the workout started LOL And then I remembered why I don't do it LOL It's a good muscle workout but certainly doesn't keep your heartrate up. But I'll count it anyway :D If I feel like a 2 mile chaser next time I'll have to remember to pick one of the faster paced workouts :)

I did my Three mile for the abs in the morning and the other Three mile in the afternoon. I wanted to try something different and see if I could . It will be a while before I try that again- somewhere in the afternoon in the second mile I really got tired. I can get sweaty, but this was tired. I think I will stick with three and four miles for another month or so.
Walk Slim sounds like a really good Mother's Day present for myself. By then I will need something a little more challenging and it is wonderful non food reward.

How do you manage getting all sweaty twice a day?
For me, I have to do my "major" workout at one time. Then if I have time to do another workout or just feel the need to LOL I only do a mile or so. Having 3 kids and a DH on nights I don't have time to take two showers a day LOL But, you also have to just do what's right for you. Some of the ladies who put in so many miles have been at this WATP stuff for a good while now and have really built up their endurance :) As for me, getting my new washer and dryer has freed up a whole lot of time LOL :carrot:

In answer to the 2 workouts a day, I need them have thyroid and anemia plus diabetes which equals one slow metabolism,(I also get up at 4:30am and crash around 10:00pm the ist workout starts at 5:00am) and when it gets warmer than a 25 below wind chill i'll do another mile at lunch. Today I only did one leslie 4mile super challenge, but at the end of the day after work I power shopped (up and down every isle)...my total for the day is 11816 stept so I feel i did ok.

Good morning, everyone! Yesterday was a BUSY day! We had a tax appointment in a town 40 minutes away at 9am, then the kids and I did a little shopping and had an early lunch before we had to be back here for another appointment at 1pm. I spent part of the afternoon running errands in town followed by some more work on DD's valance. Hubby called at 4:45 to ask me to get some papers together for our 5pm meeting at the Ford dealer. We picked up our new Explorer, which lasted til after 6. So we ended up at a Mexican place for supper, which took til 7. Finally, at 7:40 I guilted myself into hopping on the treadmill (couldn't let 205 days go down the drain!!). I fully intended to just do a mile so that I could count my day, but I reminded myself that I had only done 35 minutes on Monday and I'm part of a challenge that asks for 50 minutes 6 days a week. SO.....I stayed on for a total of 55 minutes!!! Was I TIRED when I fell into bed! But it felt great to say that I had done it!
This morning I am trying to get ready to leave tomorrow for my professional conference in Kansas City. That means, laundry, packing and general rushing around. I made sure I did my workout early this time--4 fast miles from Walk Slim!! I'd like to get in some strength training sometime today, too, but we'll have to see how it goes.....
Hope everyone is having a great week! Can't believe it's Wed already! My Spring Break is half over:(

Hi Everyone!
I am here to track my weight loss. I have dusted off my WATP tapes and I am ready to go. I see on here that people have the latest WATP Walk Slim Dvd's. Are you guys ordering them online, or purchasing them from a store? I am kind of impatient, and I would like to know which store I can go to and purchase them without having to wait on the mail.

It's very cold in MA so we all walk fast and add up those steps, today I did watp for abs 3 miles, and didn't have time for my pm walk, but I walked 12283 steps for the day so I guess that's enough.

Hi ladies,
Welcome Zen. I don't have the WalkSlim yet, but those that have mentioned them got them online. I don't think they are in stores.
I did weight lifting again today. It's kind of hard to track the time spent, as I am still new and some of my time is spent reading the instructions to make sure I'm getting the form right. Anyway, it took me 45 minutes, and I would guestimate that 30 of those were exercise. I did mainly upper body today, so my arms and back feel very weak right now. :wl:
Walked 23 minutes later that day.

Zen, I believe all of that have the Walk Slim ordered them from Leslie's website. With postage I think it was about $45 but there were 4 DVDs and I think a good deal. But also being an impatient one, I was irritated that it took over 2 weeks to arrive after they'd charged my credit card. but they're here and that's all that matters. :)
I did the 4 mile walk slim this morning. As I've mentioned for some reason her chatter/mannerisms on this specific on bug me. Calling jogging boosted walking is like fingernails on a chalk board to my ears. So I tried the music only option. Eeks. It was horrible. I could read her lips and that was more irritating and the music is so boring. Throughout the intervals the songs repeat only two words. Mostly instrumental. The warmup was totally instrumental and slow feeling. The last 12 minutes were good, normal songs. So I'll never, ever do that again. Since it's my favorite workout (other than the jogging) I'll do it with the annoying chatter. That's much more bearable than reading the lips to boring music. :) So now I have this other editing idea. find music I like with the right beat and take her video and mesh it with my music. I'd still be able to read the lips but maybe music I'd like would make it better. Gee, I am so picky!!! :)

The boredom and the chatter sometimes get to me. Some of the time I just zone out. Other times I think in my head- what are these people doing today?
My daughter and made up stories about the people on the video the year we exercised together for her prom. They became characters. I still get a giggle here and there thinking about that.
As far as turning down the Leslie volume and finding music to walk to I think I tried Fleetwood Mac's Tusk and made it though a couple selections before the tempo was not right. I also have thought about getting a book on tape to listen to in a walkman.
Funny the ancient power mile doesn't bother me as much as the three mile.
I did not walk yesterday, infact I tried to lay down for a nap.
I was back at it with my four miles again. I have offically lost 20 pounds and hope to get another 5 off by the end of the month.

Well, I am still at home doing the walking thing. I love how good I feel afterwards. I have done an additional 2 miles in the past couple of days. The fast mile is still wearing me out. I can't believe how out of shape I am. I hoping to eventually work myself up to the 2 mile. Judging on the comments, I think I should hold off on the walk slim for now. It is finally the weekend, I am running home to take a nap. When I wake up I will try to do the 2 miles, but I will definitely do one. Have a wonderful weekend everybody! :D

Well, Wanda I wish I could send you some bright Texas sunshine to melt your winter away !
I not only marked 20 pounds this week- but I also hit the hundred mile mark. So after arguing with my son about why I am not buying him a MP3 player this afternoon I went to Walmart and bought the advanced 5 mile ( with a strechie thing). DH went out for Margaritas and fajitas with his work buddies, my son was pouting over not getting a new play toy and I worked out with Leslie.
I really needed to do the powermile for a warmup. I took on the three mile with strechie band thingy.
My dog went nuts and decided that he wanted to play somewhere in the first mile. Bob, who is a loveable companion that weighs 75 pounds was jumping around the room following my movements. I got him calmed down and finished up the three mile. I followed up with the powermile as a "recovery".
I am not tired ( even though I finished at 10:30 at night) and feel really good. I am glad I did not try to do the five mile-but it does give me something to look forward to in the future weeks.
I figured I should have a non food reward for the progress I made and that for 13.00 and change a new DVD would be a good deal.
Everyone have a great weekend !

Sirak, congrats on the 20 and the 100 miles!!!!
let me know how you like the 5 mile I want something new myself so it's either walk slim or that, but I have to walk at least 5 miles most days for my March challenge of 100 miles. It got a little warmer today 40's but outside is still a lot of frozen snow even my 205 pounds on it doesn't move it an inch!! My cat got stuck under the deck today and I had to slide across the yard to get him out, thought I would get soaked crunching in the snow, but it's been so cold you could put a piano on it and wouldn't move!!
I only did a 2mile express walk today and have 10161 steps so far will try to do another when I get home.
Have a good night.

I have a question. I've been entering my workout as general aerobics in fitday. Should I be entering it as walking?
I rented dvds from the library until I found one I liked. I bought the 3 mile express with the 4 mile thing. I did it this morning and enjoyed it quite a bit. Max the cat didn't know what to think of the stretchy thing.
I'm thinking of going back to the library tomorrow and getting 1 or 2 of the ones mentioned here.
I'm glad this thread is here. Thank you.

lovemacon, you can pick up a package of stretchie bands at Walmart in their exercise section for less than $10. I have one that has 3 bands, a light, medium and heavy so you can use a heavier band as you grow stronger.
I like the 5 mile, but the Walk Slim IMO is a much better workout. It's only available online though as far as I know right now.

The Five Mile Advanced I bought is from Walmart and it comes with a strechie band.
The Target set does have the hand weights, belt and strechie but the same DVD. I bought that one for my daughter for her birthday.
For me getting the Walmart Five Advanced was a treat. I think it was around 14.00 with tax. The Target set was more expensive- maybe 25.00-( that was a couple months ago). The Target set has "Target Exclusive " on it- so don't try to find it elsewhere. I think it's a good deal for anyone that wants the package. For me the Walmart set was, again,a treat- the cost of a baby back rib plate.
But both have the same DVD (http://www.lesliesansone.com/store/product110.html)- which is not to be confused by the Walk Slim (http://www.lesliesansone.com/store/product2.html)DVD.
I love the advanced workout. There isn't a warm up or step review that you see in the Powermile, Three mile Walk for Abs , or Three mile. Somewhere in the past month someone made the comment about getting a different DVD to challenge your workout. My Three miles plus the Powermile was not cutting it.I can still do them- I think the 5 mile was the natural progression for me. I still am over 200 pounds(getting closer every day though) and spent a bit of time last summer on crutches with a knee injury.
I did the 5 mile with all the boosters. It felt GREAT, but SO SLOW compared to any of the Walk Slim workouts! I remember when I first got the 5 mile and I thought I would DIE before I got through it!
I like the 5 mile, but the Walk Slim IMO is a much better workout.
I would not suggest a newbie getting a 5 mile tape right off the bat. I tried to get DS13 ( the little defensive lineman of my family) to do the steps in the Three mile for abs and he seemed trouble with the coordination of the steps. I am still only doing four of the five miles on the DVD, but I walk almost every day.
I can walk with the "Advanced Five mile" for a while and then get the " Walk Slim" when I am ready to move onto something else.By then who knows what Leslie will have out ! The important thing is that we are all off the couch !:D

Mare, I enter mine as walking - very brisk pace (4mph) or very very brisk (5mph) if I'm using the 5 mile advanced. I use Fitday PC but I think all of the activities are the same. I'm not sure which one is more correct - aerobic dancing or walking, but I don't worry about it. I do track my intentional exercise in fitday, but it's more for me to make sure I do it than it is to really see how many calories I burn, if that makes sense. :)
I love all of the ones that I have tried, although I seem to be going through an exercise funk right now. :kickbutt: needed. I borrow a lot of mine from the library too.

Good evening! I did the 3 fast Walk Slim miles this morning followed by a quick 5 minutes on the treadmill. I am doing a challenge that requires 50 minutes of cardio 6 days a week, so when I do less with WATP, I do the rest on the treadmill (sometimes even a bit more).
Is anyone else having problems getting to the 3fatchicks weight tracker? I wanted to update the one I created from there and it says the server cannot be found. I hope it's a temporary glitch and not a real problem or worse, they discontinue it!

Good morning! Today I did the 3-mile super fat-burning workout (a nice way to start the day).
A question: I had been using 3-lb hand weights for this tape. Today I bumped it up to 5-lb weights and got a better workout (my fitness level is improving). Is it OK to use these weights? They felt fine - but I don't want to cause excess strain. Need your collective wisdom.

Did the 3 mile walk slim this morning. I had wanted to do more, but AF showed this morning and I just had to push myself through the 3 mile :( Not sure if it's AF's arrival or what but I had zippo energy.
Bethel, I know that in all of Leslie's tapes she's always said not to use more than 2 lbs. That said, I always use 3 lbs LOL IMO, if you are comfortable with the 5 lbs and you don't feel any unusual strain and you can keep the pace and keep your breathing on track I'd think you're ok to increase. I don't think I'd go beyond 5 lbs just because you're going to start throwing momentum into the picture using a heavier weight while you're keeping the pace of the video and could cause an injury.

Strange thing. I posted yesterday, and I can't find my post anywhere...also my excercise ticker isn't working. If anyone has any hints on how I can fix my ticker please let me know.
Any way I did two and half miles over the weekend plus one mile yesterday of walk away the pounds. Also, I wear a pedometer at work yesterday I got in 3222 steps and so far today I have 1201. The day is young so I do plan on getting past yesterday's figure of 3222. I will definitely be doing walk away the pounds tonight even though I have to work on my assignment for class tomorrow.
Anyway if you can't see my ticker my goal is to do 200 miles and I currently have 9 miles logged. This does not include my walking through out day because I have not figured out how to convert my steps into miles  I assure you I did go to school, but I was obviously sleeping when they gave this lesson in math class.
Well enough for me. Everyone have a fabulous day!:D

Hi,
I have a question for all you ladies about the WATP tapes and applying it to fitday. I've had the WATP express tape for a few years but haven't used it in quite some time. Tonight I did the 1 mile, easy walk. I've timed it before and it was 15 minutes to do the mile. That would equal to 4 miles an hour, but I doubt that I could walk that far that fast outside. What would you consider the level of the first walk to be equvilant to? I put in 15 minutes at the 3 mph pace as I'd rather underestimate than over estimate.
WATP is going to be my exercise on the days that I can't take the dog for a walk. I think I may do both the 1 and two miles walk on the non-dog walking days, then the one mile on the days I do get out.
There is a 2 mile circuit that we follow at the state park and I haven't been able to get done under 35 minutes-YET. I think tomorrow I may walk it twice and see if I can do it in an hour and then compare it to how I feel doing the 1mile.
I lurked a bit on this forum and have to say I am very impressed by how dedicated everyone is to exercise. I only hope I can become half that dedicated!
Thanks, Missi

Today was one of those days when I was feeling tired and achy (did a toning class yesterday that I really felt today). Well, I managed to do my circuit in 32 minutes today which makes me wonder just how long it is. (3382 steps on my pedometer, but I can't adjust the stride length or anything on it) . I can't drive it either because it's just a path in the park. I'm thinking I should count the 1 mile tape as 3mph though...I think I worked more on the path than I did the video. Ah well, it's the consistency that counts in the end.
Thanks, Missi

Hi Missi,
The one miles one that I have are usually about 20 minutes, so I count them on fitday as the 3 mph. The 2 and 3 mile dvds that I have seem to average about 15 minutes each mile, so I count them as 4 mph. When I do this fast miles on the 5 mile dvd, I tend to count them as "very very brisk, 4.5 mph". I really don't think it matters much calorie wise, so I don't stress over it. But I like to keep track of it in fitday anyway.
I'm usually not able to walk as fast in the park as her videos go either. If I get a 15 minute mile walking in the park, I'm thrilled. They are both great forms of exercise though aren't they! And YES it is the consistency - which I seem to be lacking this week. :)

Hi everyone!!! I'm back from my spring break on the beach. I did exercise EVERYDAY while on vacation. Leslie worked great on my video IPOD. I also walked on the beach and around the resort a bit. I'm tan and relaxed and really don't want to go back to work on Monday.
Today, DH, DS2 and I went snowshoeing at Crater Lake - about 2.5 miles. But since sourth FL irritated my asthma so much I wasn't as energetic and my legs are tired. I guess the 0 to 7000 feet elevation difference played into it.
mare and bethel (I think - I had 3 pages of reading to catch up on), I think that walking outside is much more difficult to do at 10-15 miles per hour than with the tapes. That being said, it's also more difficult using all the upper body on WATP than when walking outside. To me, I see them as two very different forms of exercise. In fitday, I'd put it as brisk walking or low impact aerobics since you're using more of you body than walking outside. Just my 2 cents.
Talk again soon.

thanks for the input. I've noticed that fitday calculates the calories different than other online calculators. My current weight is in my profile, but it seems like it gives me the calories burned for a much skinnier person! Do you notice that at all?

After taking a couple of days off ( I think the time change has messed up my already strange sleep pattern) I got up this morning determind to get up and walk. I wasn't struggling with this three mile- but I can tell I am not quite up to the normal speed I usually have with an afternoon work out.
I might try to do three more this afternoon after my parents come by for a visit- but then again I might just nap. I am so close to onederland and hitting the 30 pound mark that am determind to see it in the next couple of weeks. It is hard when you are wanting a nap at 9:15 in the morning.
Today is yard work day- we planted a bunch of monkey grass yesterday and a few things that I potted before we moved . I still have parts of the veggie garden to get ready and someone needs to run the mower.

Looking forward to trying it all out and, hopefully, get to post in the April thread. :) I did see an article in First Magazine a while back that featured a 10-minute version of WATP so I've been using that as a model to do my indoor walking. I put on some music and just have fun. :D

hello! i didn't know there was a WATP board! yay!
i love leslie!
i bought my first WATP 2-1/2weeks ago, and now i've got 2 more. i LOVE the 4 mile super challenge!
i also have the 3mile for abs, and the 5-day fit walk.
i'm actually curious as to what everyone's fav. WATP is? i know i want more of them, to change things up, but i'm not sure which ones to get. the 1 and 2 mile videos don't feel like enough for me.
so what do you recommend? favorite video or do you do a combination?

Six miles for me today. I did the 4 mile walk slim and the 2 mile walk slim. Maybe I'll get another mile in later, but I'm not counting on it. I'm still trying to get DH to do at least a one mile workout with me. He started the 2 mile WS with me, but only made it about 5 minutes. Said his legs were getting rubbery LOL He said he "might" do a 1 mile with me later after he gets some work done on some farm equipment if I put in one of the easier ones. So we'll see. It would be great to get him to do a mile or so with me a day :)
Marie

Karen, that would be so cool if your DH joined you. Mine wouldn't, never, ever. If we're going to walk we'll do it outside would be his response. DS2 once said he'd do the walk firm with me the next time I do it and he's home. So we'll see on that one.
I did the 2 mile walk slim this am. Since returning from FL, my asthma is angry. The abuterol helps with the breathing but it's giving me a new side effect - it makes my biceps and quads fatigued as though I'd ran a marathon. So I decided to take it a little easier on the aerobics and avoid the abuterol. I really do hate that stuff. I'll let hte maintenance meds get it back under control.
Oh and yesterday, DH and I bought a brand new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. Ooo la la. It's very cool. I think my 1976 Jeep is glad to have a bigger sister. :)

I got quite a bit of walking in the past few days. I just ordered a few walk away the pounds dvd's from justaboutfitness.com. Oh and I finally completed the entire 3 miles frome the 3 mile dvd. My stomach and legs are still sore from that one. I will attempt to do it again tonight.

Well, I've been having an off week. Hubby left for a business trip, so I'm running the kids everywhere and it's busier than usual (of course). Yesterday I did the 2 mile Walk Slim and had hoped to do more last night, but just couldn't find the energy when I got home at 7:30 (and still had to go back out at 9 to pick DS up).
This morning I just wanted to stay in bed, but I reminded myself that DD has an Honor Choir concert in another town tonight, so if I didn't do it this morning, my streak would be broken. I ended up doing the 2 mile Abs workout, which I haven't done in AGES.
So my 220 day streak is intact, but my weekly goal is in jeopardy. Let's hope tomorrow brings extra energy so I can make up for these two lighter days!
Have a good day!

Michele, you're doing great!!! Just the fact that you've kep the motivation to keep your streak alive is something to be really proud of!
I did 7 miles again this morning. Not sure if I'll get to add another mile when DH wakes up or not. He got home really late (or early??? since he works an odd shift LOL) so he won't be up for at least another hour or so which won't give him any time to get any work done if he works out after we have lunch. Ugh, his schedule just stinks sometimes (well, all the time, but I can't complain about it every day :p )
I did the 4 mile walk slim and the 3 mile super fat burning with 3 lb weights.

I just got the 5-mile DVD and love the fact that you can "mix and match." Quick question - Leslie mentions 4 options to choose from (all 5 miles, 3 fast miles, belt with 2 fast miles, and stretchie with 2 fast miles) - however, the chapter selection shows 5 options, the first two being "5 miles" - what are the differences between these two? Is one with only music?
Marie
03-20-2007, 10:56 PM
I walked 3 miles this morning (the Walk Slim WATP). Lots of upper body and very fast paced. I very much liked it. Tomorrow I have to get to work by the time I usually get up so I'm concerned on the exercise front. To get up 3:30 to get a couple miles in or get up at 4:00 so I get there by 5:00????? Hmm, I could exercise when I get home but I like starting my day off right. I bet when the alarm goes off at 3:30 I'll decide. See, Michele you're not alone in your obsession to keep the streak alive. :) I hate not exercising.
Karen, you're getting back into this by diving in head first. You're going to blow the mile markers away.
sillyrabbit, welcome!!!! I agree, a variety is the spice of life. I have many but rarely go back to the old ones. I always buy the latest and get attached to them till the next one comes out.
bethel, I can't answer you on that. I remember seeing the 5 miles, then the 3 3-milers. Once I choose an option, then you get to select music only. I really don't remember 2 5 miler options. I'd choose them both and check them out. Doesn't mean you have to do the whole thing... :) but of course that is always an option.

Bethel, the two 5 miles on the advanced DVD are the exact same workout, the only difference is that the challenge walk is continuous, no stops between each mile. With the advanced there is a bit of a gap so you can slow your pace or catch your breath between each mile. Otherwise they are the same workout :)
Did the 4 mile walk slim today. Think that will probably be all I get in....unless DH wakes up and wants to try a mile :) Doubtful, but I can always hope! I feel as if I'm coming down with something again. Yuck. Started losing my voice last night, bit of a sore throat and my chest just feels "off" like it always does before I get slammed with a major cold or sinus infection. Hoping I can ward it off some way. Do not need to be sick again!!!

I could not find the remote this morning to get the DVD started: so I ended up using the 3 mile fat burning abs tape. When I got done I went to check my email and there was the remote control.
So this afternoon I did four of the five mile advanced.I am very close to hitting 30 pounds and close to onederland.Tommorrow is normally my weigh in day-and I am almost sure I won't make it- but by the weekend I might.

Well, I have not had the best week, but I'm plugging along. This morning I did Walk & Tone! I can't remember the last time I did that one and my arms sure felt it! There were a couple of times I hardly made it through the set, but I did it! Hubby comes home tonight from his business trip, but leaves again tomorrow for a long weekend of geocaching in Missouri. I just don't know HOW you single parents do it! I'm barely keeping my head above water this week doing it alone!
Anyway.....Hope everyone is having a good week. Today is the end of the term, so we get out early today and have inservice tomorrow. Much of that time will be spent in meetings and/or grading, so it will be sitting time. I'll do what I can to get up and take quick walks once in awhile, though!

Dusty I think you do great. DMom has been a diabetic for over 50 years and one of her keys to sucess is walking. It's a big deal for your sugar and circulation. Keep up the good work !
geocaching Wow Kewl ! I always do better when DH is not around...We eat lighter and I can exercise after the kids go to sleep. With work I know you have your handsful Michele ! Good luck on getting things done !
Gosh I don't see Hossiermom- I hope she didn't come down with that nasty cold.:coffee: Here is some hot tea to help you feel better !
I did my normal four miles this afternoon. This morning I set my timer and set the DVD up on the five mile with no instruction. I ran in place for 25 minutes. It worked pretty good and the music is really great if you are wanting a pace to get going to.
Three-Thirty am is just too early for exercise, Marie ! I might try 5 am if I have something going on but perfer the daylight.I think most people who know me would agree they perfer me not to try and do anything at those early hours other than sleep.:yikes:

Well as of today, I'm back on track again, but having to start all over at the 1 mile first. Yesterday DH and I did go to Crater Lake and snowshoed but missed sunrise by about 4 hours. :) We packed a picnic and the day was beautiful. We went about 2.5 miles. This morning we took the huskies to Hamaker Mtn and let them run free. Kodiak was running down a rocky hill and hurt himself. After examination he peeled back part of his big pad on his front paw. DH and I cut the peeled back part off and drugged him so he's sleeping be me at the moment. I'm hoping that it'll heel quickly as he's too impatient to be sidelined (as was proof he wouldn't lay down when we got home - he'd limp and cry). DH even had to carry him in the house from the Durango. BTW, I jogged back to the Durango from where he got hurt - .5 miles. I did that outside and with hiking boots on and after walking mountain roads for 3.5 miles. Not bad at all if you ask me. I was a little proud of me. :)
Michelle, it's wonderful to see you. I hope that you wake up next year much healthier. You've had a tought year and I'm glad you're taking back control. Also happy belated birthday!!!

My weight finally seems to be going in the right direction again!!! :carrot: I'm not all the way back to my lowest yet, I gained a few pounds after BIL passed away and my workouts were non-existent for a while. Then it seemed like every time I got back into the groove either I or someone in the family got sick and I got knocked away from them again. This has been a great month and I've not missed one single day working out in March :carrot: I'll be so happy when I can update that ticker with a smaller number!!!

Great Job Karen. I'm glad the scale is being more friendly. You've definitely upped your workouts to a high amount.
I walked 2 miles and jogged 2 miles this morning. It is easier to jog inside to Leslie's 1 mile Jog than outside. I'm thinking maybe of trying a little jogging outside again as a regular thing or maybe on DS2's treadmill. Maybe, maybe not...

Just did the 4 mile walk slim. Feels weird to say I only did 4 miles and that's all I'm doing today LOL But I have so much to do I just don't have the extra exercise time today :( I have a ton of stuff I just sold on Ebay I have to get ready to ship and I have a huge hutch sitting in the middle of the floor in my kitchen that I'm painting. It was white, we've had it for years and were using it in DDs(she's 3) room until this past weekend when we got new furniture for her. So now I get to put it in my kitchen!!! It fit in our kitchen at our old house being white, here it sticks out like a sore thumb LOL So I'm going to do an antique/distressed black finish on it. Why do these jobs always seem so simple until you actually get in to them and realize that it'll take at least 3 coats to cover, there are lots of corners and angles to mess with and then you still have to sand, stain and seal it!! LOL

Well, it's been a SUPER-BUSY couple of days, but I think things are slowly starting to get back to "normal"! I did the first 4 miles of the 5 mile Advanced Walk yesterday morning. Then it was a busy day finishing up the term with grades. Then, we had unexpected company last night until 9:30 (WAAAY past my bedtime!), so I'm extra tired. But, this morning, I got up and did the 4 fast Walk Slim miles to start my day off right! I always feel so much better when I can get my workout done first thing. I don't know why I can't remember that when I'm stalling getting out of bed!
Now it's time to get things ready for my next class!

Morning everyone!!! I did 2 miles walking and 2 miles jogging this morning. Not much variety today as I did that yesterday too. But it's a workout I like. I really like the Walk Slim 4 miler but it starts slowly for a while and ends slowly so it take longer than 2 fast walking miles and 2 fast jogging. I know what you mean, Marie! Sometimes her chatter gets on my nerves (but not NEARLY as much as some other video personalities!).
I did the 3 fast Walk Slim miles this morning followed by a few minutes on the treadmill to get my 50 minutes done for another challenge. I'm going to have to step it up just a bit for the rest of the week to meet my goal for the month--I still have a bit more than 10 miles to get done by Saturday! I rarely do more than 5 in a day (and not usually more than 1 day a week), but I think I can get it done!

What a morning!!! Got a call from my oldest DS this morning while he was still on the school bus - calling from a friend's cell phone which made me wonder (we have caller id) because he has his own phone. Seems his phone was gone :( The bus driver had found the case, but no phone. He never uses his phone. He didn't even want a phone (he's 13) but I need him to have a phone because he and my younger DS go to different schools and have different schedules and things can get wacky and he needs to be able to call me. He was upset, I couldn't think straight.....I dialed his # and I get voicemail......SOME GIRL has set voicemail up on his phone!!!! "Hi, this is Allie, I can't answer the phone right now....blah, blah, blah." OM GOSH I was FURIOUS!! I left a message and said "I would like you to call me at XXX-XXXX and explain to me WHY YOU HAVE MY SON'S PHONE!!" After multiple calls to and from the bus drive and two schools (both boys schools were involved, one an elementary and one a middle school/junior high) we finally know that the phone was found, they know who took it and it was being returned to DS. Whew. Now I have to figure out how many calls this girl made and figure out an amount for her to pay us in restitution per the Assistant Principal and DS's school. We use Tracfone so I can't just ask for a call log, but I just recently added time to his phone so it shouldn't be too difficult. Especially since he has only made 6 calls at the absolute most from that phone and they have all been to call me at home. What a mess!!! What is wrong with kids???? :?:
So, while I was still waiting to hear back and know exactly what was going on I pulled out my old Walk Away Your Stress - it seemed fitting!!! LOL I was just a mess and wired like you can't believe so I needed to do something. After talking to the principal I calmed down and put the 4 mile walk slim in. I think I could have walked another 4 miles I have so much adrenaline flowing today!!! LOL

Oh my Goodness- Karen ! That is horrible !I am glad you were walking it off- but "Allie" doesn't need to just pay time- but also serve time. It is one thing to find a phone and pick it up. But when you don't turn it in and set up your voice mail on it becomes something wrong.

Morning all!!! I did the 4 mile walk slim this morning. I do like that she has more arm movements in that one.
mare, the walk slim 2 and 4 miler have intervals in it that include 2 minutes of jogging. Interval training is very good for you so it's a good workout. The 3 minutes between the jogging is fast paced walking. The 5 mile advanced walk is shorter because there isn't a long warm up and cool down - and no stretching. The pace on the 5 miler seems slower too except the 1 mile that's billed as the fast mile.

Whew, I'm pooped! But, it's a good pooped I guess LOL I just finished up the 4 mile walk slim and did the 3 mile with 3 lb weights from the 5 mile dvd.
We did get DSs phone back. Still have some issues that we need to work out and I haven't heard from the school today in response to 2 emails I sent last night which does not make me happy AT ALL, but I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. If no one has called by the time DH gets up we'll call them. He's better at staying calm dealing with things like this than I am. She put a password on the phone and wouldn't give it to DS so there are features I can't use like locking the phone should it ever get lost again so no one can use it.

KAREN...I'm so sorry what you're having to go through with this girl and the phone issue! Can the school not get her parents involved, and can her parents not force her to give the password and get this cleared up??!! I'm just so disgusted with kids these days and their actions! That just gets me that she doesn't have to give the password over, that should be demanded!! I hope you get everything cleared up and please keep us posted.

Karen, can you call Tracfone? Maybe they can get the password off of it for you. That's terrible. I think I would threaten her with calling the police. If she'd done it to your son, she's either done it before or will do it again. Get the parents involved. How old is she?

Hi
Karen I would either call her parents or go see them and tell them if you dont get the pass word you are calling the police because she stole the phone and wonder who and what she has stolen before
Well I did the 3 and 4 mile walk slim and 2 miles at the school track yesterday
I already did the 3 and 4 mile walk slim today ill be going to the track also
Hope you all have a great day

Thank you all SO much for your support!!! I just got off the phone with the Assistant Principal. She got the code and has given it to DS so hopefully that will take care of the phone. She also finally got in contact with the girl's mother today. She is going to have to pay us $13 for the airtime that she used and her mother said she is going to make her work it off over spring break (next week for us) and it will be payed when she returns to school. :carrot: It is amazing that some kids act the way they do. DS says that this girl is in trouble a lot :( I asked him what a lot is and he said she is at the principal's office nearly once a week!!! Makes me appreciate the minor annoyances I have with my kids!!! LOL
Hey, have you all seen that Leslie has a Men's Walk out?? It's on her website. I just ordered it and I am hoping that it will get DH to agree to exercise. It looks somewhat amusing so I'm sure I'll use it for a giggle now and then LOL Jim Fazio from the 5 Mile DVD and the Walk Slim fast walks is leading it and there are 4 other men walking with him. I just watched a clip on Leslie's website and I have to say they don't seem quite as coordinated or in sync as most of her videos LOL But I have a feeling that is just what DH needs :D

I am glad to hear that things are working out, Karen- that sort of stuff is hairy !
I feel sorry for the people at the school sometimes.
Here is another question. My Mom is an aging diabetic( of 50 years) who has walked outside forever. She has asked me twice about the walking series. She has some balence issues, but once she gets going she has momentum.
I have the powermile that I might lend her, but I don't want to set her up for a failure. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be better ? My Dad( the health club fanatic) will do it with her for support.

Look at the library. I checked out several before I found Leslie. Look for ones that are geared towards women who are over 50. The workout is much more gentle. I think it's sweet that you want to do this for her.

Wrong Wrong Wrong!
You should not have to wait for your money. They should give you the money and she pay them back. You can't tell the phone company that you will pay them when this brat pays you. Why should you have to wait for your money? This kid is a minor and the parents are responsible for her actions. What if she's a bigger brat and refuses to work it off? Does that mean you won't get your money?
I'm glad you spoke with the parents, however, they owe you and need to wait to be repaid.

Hope everything works out with the phone situation, Karen! That's one reason why I just can't justify my 13 year-old having one (even though she keeps pleading with us!).
I did the 4 mile Super Challenge this morning! Then it was a FULL day here at school. Now I'm finally unwinding and I think I'm going to insist that we go out to dinner (just so i don't have to cook!). We FINALLY have a reasonably quiet night. Only DD's dance class at 7:45.
Have a good one!

The evening mile plus legs is a fairly slow/easy walk. Also I ordered a couple of DVDs off Ebay for my own mom and dad (dad has really bad knees, he'll be having surgery in April/May and he was able to do them) that were WATP for Seniors/Older Adults. Mom said they were still plenty fast paced for them, but easier on them than her more mainstream workouts. I hopped over to Ebay and saw they have a few of those videos. Not sure if you can find them anywhere else or not since they are a little old.

I'm thinking of buying the Walk Slim series. I have a question - how long is the 4-mile segment? On her older tapes, each mile took about 15 minutes. I've been doing the Walk & Jog for a while, and I think I'm ready to bump up to the next level of walking. Is the Walk Slim set more vigorous than her earlier workouts?

Bethel: Walk Slim is a much more vigorous series! I feel like I get a better workout with th 4 mile Walk Slim than I do with the 5 mile Advanced Walk (although that one is GREAT, too!). The 4 mile WS is about 50 minutes including a 2-3 minute cooldown/stretch. It has 5 segments of faster walking followed by segments of her "boosted walking" (jogging). The music is GREAT, too!
I did the 3 mile Walk Slim this morning, followed by a few minutes on the treadmill to complete my 50 minutes for the day.
Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone, I did the 4 mile walk slim this morning - but I did it in 47 minutes because I didn't want to stretch - hence the 3 minutes less than Michele stated. Bethel, I was very wishy-washy on whether or not to purchase the set and I am so glad I did. I agree with Michele that it's a better workout even though the 5 miler is good too.

I've got to agree with Michele and Marie about the walk slim series :) It is a great workout!! But like they said, the 5 mile is a good one too, but after doing the walk slim, the miles in it other than the fastest walk feel slow! Imagine that LOL
I did the 4 mile walk slim this morning. I think today will be a 4 mile day because I have so much to do. I wasn't going to even work out with all the things I need to get done, but DH took off to pick up some farm supplies and took 3 yo DD with him so I couldn't pass up that free workout time!!! :D

WOW, last day of March, and I've decided to get my act together FINALLY!!:p I've restarted my whole plan this morning, because I really want this weight off a year from now. I got up first thing this morning and did the 1 mile get up and started, and will be doing that for the next few days until my body adjusts to exercising again.:^:

Only did the 2 mile walk slim today :( My knee is bothering me a lot and it seems to be swollen. Bah. I'll rest it today and hopefully I'll be up to more exercise tomorrow.

I met my March goal today! I did the 3 mile Express (with the stretchie) plus I hopped on the treadmill and JOGGED .25 mile before cooling down! It's storming off and on here today, so it was a great day to workout indoors! Now it's off to the showers so we can have supper before going to a wedding reception. Some friends of ours got engaged on Valentine's Day and quietly married 2 weeks later. This is a second wedding for both. They are having a reception tonight and since all our kids do things together, it will be lots of fun (if the storms don't cause problems)!
Have a great weekend!
