Love, the title to this month's thread! I will report back later, after I have done my "marching" for the day!

I'm here...and marching to the beat of my very different drum! LOL. In February, I set a goal to have 100 miles done, combining the WATP, and my exercise bike. I hit that last night with my final 1.5 miles of the month. I'm going to set that same goal for March. 100 miles completed. I'll try to keep a running tally going.

Just one question- whose bright idea was it to move daylight savings up 3 weeks?!?! That means getting up at 4am and having to try to go to bed by 8pm. Poor Linda- she'll be getting up at 2-something! I'm NOT a morning person by any stretch of the imagination, so this is going to really be a challenge for me. Getting out of bed with the first alarm, or 1 snooze, and getting to bed so that I can get my solid 7 hours. Ugh. Wish me luck.

Renee- I see that ticker change! Woo Hoo! :)

Ok, I'll be back with my report! :)

that would be President Bush's idea, Jenn...enough said! LOL

Ya, I am so not looking forward to the change coming earlier either. I wish this was one of those states that doesn't follow dst. Sucks, alot!

Unfortunately, my goal of consistency, not so good last month. However, I have had wonderful control (except for the weekend that is) with my diet for the past two weeks. This week, I have not even spilled into the flex points! Hurray! So, for March, I am going to work on consistency AGAIN, and work on a better eating plan for the weekends==which would be so much easier if it were just me, myself, and I. LOL But, none-the-less, if I want to continue having success on the scale, I MUST control what I eat on the weekends. I need to get atleast 100 minutes of cardio in each week and try again for 3 days of Bob, or else whatever scale victories I accomplish, will not stay put. Eat less, move more.

Ugh. Well, at least I can make the most of the first 10 days of the month, while I'm still coherent! :lol3:

Checking in to report 9 miles on the exercise bike tonight. 8 miles done in 27:30, and then the last mile pedaled as a cooldown. Tomorrow will be WATP, I believe. Oooh, and tomorrow is Friday, too. Another good thing. :)

Have a wonderful night, ladies!

hello !

Marched to Red Hot chili peppers on the treadmill this morning with an incline of "I have no idea because my machine is a cheap one that doesn't tell you what percent incline you are doing" LOL I also saw bob. I think I am really going to be on this dvd #4 session one forever! I am finding that I either can only do one set of some of the moves, or I rush through the moves to finish two sets. I suppose if I would just keep at it , I would get it. I am finding this dvd really tough. Makes the first three look so easy.

At any rate, Linda, hope Bob is nice to you tomorrow! :)

WTG on the biking Jenn! makes me want to go to the gym and hop on a bike myself! LOL

Take care! :)

LOL- oh no, Mel- that title is Linda's, and Linda's alone. When I grow up, I can only hope to aspire to half of what Linda does. Even at 90, Linda's going to run circles around us all. But I did channel a little bit of Linda this morning. Up at 6:30, without an alarm, and by 8:30 this morning I was doing my WATP. I did 4 miles this morning. What?!?!?! Yup, 4 miles. I don't even want to know how that happened. I put in the 5 miler, thinking I'd just do the hand weights mile, and the stretchie band mile, and call it a morning. And then Linda possessed my inner athlete, and took control. Last thing I remember were the legs threatening to go on strike if I didn't sit the heck down and let them stop wobbling.

Renee- new or old RHCP? I love so much of their stuff. Good job with your "cheap" treadmill. I hated the one I picked up at a yard sale. It was cheap, but sturdy, but only had the option of an incline, and you couldn't prop it up to make it level. I couldn't even go 5 minutes on the stupid thing, and had offered it up to at least 10 different people, just trying to get rid of it. When we moved, I put it out for bulk pickup, and someone did take it,in the middle of the night. I betcha it didn't take long for them to try to pawn it off on someone else, though! :lol3:

Mel- don't make me come up there and prod you. Mother!!! < insert whining tone here > Mooooo-ooom, come on! You know you need to do this. I'm telling my other sister Jen! Whiiiiiiine!

Linda, hope all is well. Where have you been? I miss you. Can I draw you out? "Look everyone, here's my menu for today, and it won't have a single fruit or veggie on it at all!" ;) Kidding- I'm kidding! But please, post when you can- you are missed, and thought about often.

Now, off to see if someone who likes laundry will possess me this afternoon. :)

hey! I'm a Renee AND a wholefooder too! (and Renee and I both have real similar stats and goals! whoah!!)

My goal for March is to exercise every day. In fact, I decided 9 days ago that I exercise, it's what I DO, it's like breathing, it keeps me alive :) So I already started (today is Day 9, I will be doing my elliptical soon). Goal is at least 20 minutes.

3/1: 25 minutes elliptical
3/2: 22 minutes elliptical
update: 3/3: 25 minutes elliptical

I like to jam to music too - it REALLY gets me pumped up! Yesterday was Depeche Mode's "Songs of Faith and Devotion" and on the 1st I rocked out to Rammstein "Sehnsucht" :D My DF just put a bunch of new music on my iPod so I have a lot to choose from for tonight!

Welcome, Velveteen Renee! Yay! The more, the merrier! Ooooh, Depeche Mode. I *loooove* to bike to their music... you can't help but groove to it. SO many songs from Violator. And I've worn out my Depeche Mode 101 videotape. :)

Mel, mother dearest, do you need CDs made to pedal to? What do you like? It's the least I can do for my 2nd mother! :)

Renee- How's Bob doing? Linda hasn't managed to wear him out too much to make it to your house?

Linda, please make an appearance, and stop possessing me! Seriously! My impromptu biking today was only going to be 15 minutes, and then only 5 miles, and then 30 minutes, and then 10 miles, and ended up at 53 minutes and 15.5 miles. Get out!!!! Whiiiiine! All I had planned on today was my upper body circuit, which I bumped up to the 8lb weights today. Grumble. Well, only part of a grumble. It must mean I'm not hating exercise all that much anymore.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, ladies!

I LIKE THAT THOUGHT RENEE2. I SHOULD USE IT ALONG WITH RENEE1'S CIONSISTENCY IDEA.

RENEE1~THAT'S THE GOAL FOR THIS MONTH FOR ME ALSO. TO PUT THE HABITS INTO PLACE AGAIN. SOMEHOW I GOT OFF THE HABIT-TRAIL! HOPE EVERYTHING IS OK WITH YOU GUYS!!

JENN~ 15.5 MILES!! :cheer:  :cb:
WTG!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I CAN'T EVEN CATCH YOU IN MY MOTORIZED CHAIR!!! :lol3:

I was just here on Thursday!!! :p Boy, can't please you chickies at all, can I? Sorry, but work comes in busy dribs and drabs so I'll come in when I can. Hopefully more often soon.

First things first, Welcome to Renee #2 :welcome3: Hope you enjoy hanging out with us sweaty chicks. We don't smell.. much. Wish I had room for an exercise machine but alas.. not in the cards at the moment. Good workouts

Ahh ok. Where to start. Let's start with Bob. Bob and I are going to have a trial separation, as I mentioned in my journal. Now before anyone freaks Bob is Bob Harper and I mean his PUSH exercise DVD  not a hubby Bob. Don't have one of those, thank goodness. I've just hit the wall with my strength capability and I am not progressing as fast as the DVDs do. It was so bad on Saturday that I could do anything on the DVD without getting exhausted and even had trouble with the lower level ones. So I emailed PUSH, suspended my aco**** for 6 months and will be getting my exercise ya-yas elsewhere. I ordered a Dance aerobics DVD from Collage as well as the new Taebo Amped DVD set with the AMP bar so that will be something new and different. The idea of doing Bob anymore was souring me on ALL exercise and that is a big red flag that I needed to stop. so i did. If I am stronger come August, I'll restart but I am taking a wait and see attitude on this. I did get all 6 days of exercise last week and worked out Sunday and this mroning, to other DVDs.

Hi mel.. yes yes consitency is key. Like people who diet all week and then eat off plan on the weekend and don't understand why the aren't losing, consitent working out is key to makign progress so keep at it!! so pedal away. Dinner is waiting

Jen,, great bike ride. I do NOT want to think about getting up when it is so blasted dark out.. sigh. Can't I just clone mysef and then the clone can get up at ohmigawdoclock, work outand then go to work?

Renee #1, sorry to abandon you with Bob, but he is making me hurt all the time now and it's just too hard. I love the variety of workouts but they just need to slow down on the upper body stuff a lot. Way too fast for me. I liked the weights workouts and the bands, but its the stuff that uses my own body weight that was getting me upset. Sigh. Hope he doesn't take my abadonment out on you!

Good Tuesday! I think I'm a bit in love with this website! I can thank Oprah for this. I've been kind of checking things out and was so happy to find you. I've never been on a diet as such, like WW ot SB or any of those but a few years ago I simply added a few vegetables to a few meals and went from there. My diet before that was a CRAZY nightmare looking back; it included nothing but spaghetti, chips, cheese, bread, minute rice, and anything I could make in five minutes or less. :o Not very healthy.
Anyways those days are behind me. I was just wanting to say hi and get some motivation and tips and stuff.
Right now I just play soccer and go to the gym, due to the crappy crappy winter we've had. I hired a personal trainer so I actually know what I'm doing in the weight room, and now it's just a matter of having the wherwithall to keep going!

Well, I am gone for a few days and wow! So much to return to! First off, Renee #2 and greeneggsandham, so nice to see you and welcome! LOVE new faces and new ideas, and yes, still LOVE my chickies mel, Linda and Jenn! ok, where to start?!

Jenn, WTG on the four miles! and you thought you would never be able to do it! I agree with Mel, girl, you ARE the exercsie queen! Linda, I am sure, won't mind sharing the throne with you! :) Someday, I may just have to join you two! I listen to old and new RHCP, I really like the new stadium arcardium stuff though! Man, I just can't say how impressed I am with your exercise! Good job!

Mel, you can get back on track, I know you can. Looking forward to hearing about all your pedalling adventures soon! :)

Linda, now it all makes sense to me...why Bob kicked my butt once again...well, I know you have been struggling with this for a bit. I am not sure I will be able to progress past dvd #4 myself. #5 is sitting and waiting for me. I was less sore last week after Bob, so I was taking that as a good sign. But honestly, it is alot of money to spend per dvd, if you can't use them. But I am sure, Bob will be happy to see you if you drop in once in awhile on the dvd's 1-5. LOL ;)

I haven't been here or on the journals for the past few days, too dang busy. I have done ok with eating and with exercise. Although, I could have done better, something is better than nothing at all. This morning was 20 min on the tm. I am going to try to get more in tonite. Tomorrow will be Bob. Unless I seriously buckle down with my diet, I am not going to see a loss this week. I haven't gone all out bad, but there are things I have eaten that I shouldn't have. I had the most wonderful drink at Starbucks this week. A nonfat Green Tea latte. I have no idea what the nutritional count for it is, I may have to check out the website sometime today. I hope I won't be disapppointed, because I would love to add it to the list of things that I LOVE, and can eat freely and guiltlessly. LOL

Hugs, love and strength to you all! Only 3 more days till DST! LOL (Jenn, that was for you! :) )

Welcome Green Eggs.. I loved that book as a kid. Still do as a matter of fact. :D I too was a big spaghetti, rice eater. I got fat because since I was eating "just pasta with marinara sauce, no oil or fat" it was okay no matter HOW much I ate. Sheesh I think back and I easily could have been eating 5-6 ounces at a time, which 3 servings!!

Renee.. sorry about leaving you with Bob, but I'll be dating Billy very soon. He is winging his way to my house as I type. I got a DVD set from Collage called TaeBo Amped so I'll be seeing him during the week, probably 2-3 times a week. I also got another DVD called Dance the inches off or something like that. looked fun and I needed some fun after brutal Bobby. :p Of course Kathy beat the **** out of me on Sunday and Monday so my chest right now is pretty sore. I cannot tell you how tired I am of hirting all the time in my upper body  You would THINK I would lose weight/ get tighter.. SOMETHING!! Sheesh. And yes I still am giong to try and get man pushups. It's my quest!!!

Morning, chickies. Busy week here, and I never even got a chance to post yesterday. I need a day off to catch up with everything else! :)

Ok...where to start? The last 2 days....Last night I did a 3 mile WATP with stretchie for 45 minutes, and then did 6 miles on the bike in 21:30, so I'm working up to an hour of cardio a few times a week. I can't guarantee that it will be every day, but I think by April, I'll be improved enough to commit to that for the weekends, and at least 1 day during the week. The night before I did the 3 mile Super Fat Burning DVD, and there's a move that I can really feel. Legs out wide, as if you were doing kickbacks, and instead, she does knee lifts from that stance, and includes upper body chest flies with 2 pound weights. There's a spot behind the right thigh, near the butt area, that burns when I do those. It better be burning, melting fat that causes that heat-searing feeling! :lo3: So, I'm progressing. Food is right in range, water is up over 10 glasses a day...everything is clicking. Don't jinx me! ;)

And I got to move the ticker again. I'm getting very close to that -50...and my new $4.19 tank tops came yesterday, so I broke one in with last night's workout. :)

Renee2- great job getting all that elliptical work in. I think that would seriously kick my butt at this point. :)

Greeneggs- welcome! We're glad to have you here with us.

Renee #1- oh please...my ego is going to swell to the size of my butt! LOL. I bow before Linda, who sets the pace and inspires us all to be more active. And I'm sooo not looking forward to next Monday. I just hope I don't oversleep, because I've got too long a drive to try and make up time rushing. Now that you have Bob's undivided attention...let's hear some complaining. :D

Linda- ditto with the pasta. Of course it was diet food- it had no fat. Pfffft. A "serving" of pasta was whatever size plate you had, not 1 cup of cooked pasta. Amazes me to think about the sheer volume we were eating as teens and young adults. A real eye opener. Hope things settle into place at work...I was just making sure you hadn't disowned us for our mischeif, or anything like that. ;) And I think you'll have fun with Billy... (this is for Mel, mostly) ...when he gets sweaty, there are certain, um, areas, that get drenched, and draw the eye there. Don't gaze directly into the groin...it can be hypnotic! (ok, bad jen!)

Hope everyone is having a good Thursday...weekend is almost here!

03-08-2007, 02:53 PM
hey there ladies!

Ok, MEL, if you are that winner in NJ, I hope you have spent some cash visiting someplace warm right now! LOL

And now, I am going to have to go out and buy a billy dvd, just to check out the sweaty goin area! Oh we are bad, aren't we? Bob doesn't sweat. Hmmmmmmm.....LOL

Just the usual treadmill action for me today. Haven't had much motivation lately to PUSH it with Bob. I need to get movtivated again. Food, has not been the greatest--PMS is making me EAT! Willpower is not so great. Not bad stuff, but definately more than I need to. OK, some of it is bad. Dh brought some chocolate into the house this past weekend. You just DO NOT put chocolate in the reach of a woman who is PMSing and expect it to not get eaten. Against the laws of nature. I had some last night. Today, I bagged the lot up and put it out in the garage...too much work for me to get to there. It was just looking at me everytime I opened the pantry door.

I am not really into the whole diet/exercise thing this week, but I am going to just go through the motions until I get out of the funk. That is what people who are serious about loosing weight do. Linda, said so. Not kicking *** on the tm, but still doing it. Still watching what I eat, for the most part. I wish I could just bottle up last week. That was a good week, and it ended with a nice loss. Hopefully no gain this week. Not looking for a loss.

Jenn, WTG on reaching that 50 pounds gone mark. And I don't care what you say...you are still MY hero, girl. You rock! Send some of your strong motivation up North, would ya?

The weather is supposed to improve by the weekend, 40's and 50's woo hoo. I know that doesn't sound so great seeing that some of you (not mentioning any names) have turned on the AC already--but it will be an improvement over the teens we have been having for the past couple of days and I may actually see grass again....maybe that will be the motivation I need. Winter is soooooo long in OHIO! Blech!

Hey girls!

Sorry I was mia on Friday. Saddly, I had to put my 19 year old cat to sleep. Her name was Patches, and it was a very hard day for me. I miss the old girl, but I know what I did was for the best.

I think that knowing last week, that I would have to do that or that she was going to go naturally, was what was hindering my motivation on the weightloss and exercise front. I know that I am definately an emotional eater, (so many of us are). Eating last week was very bad. I wasn't going to weigh on Saturday, but did anyway. Seems the one pound I lost last week has found it's way back to me! This week will be better. I am thinking of going outside (yes, outside) for a walk after lunch today. Still some snow on the ground, but most of the sidewalks are clear. Temps today supposed to hit 50, and 65 tomorrow. By Friday, it's supposed to be back into the 30's, so I definately need to get out and get some fresh air. That is the plan for today.

Mel, sorry to hear the computer crashed. Oh my. That would be disasterous for me. Dh is good at that kind of stuff though, so I am lucky there. Sorry you weren't absent because you won that lottery. But if you ever do, I will hold you to the real bob and billy deal! LOL

Jenn, where are you girl? I need to hear about your successes, because my motivation last week wavered too much!

Take care all the rest of you, and I hope that our new friends join us again! :)

Morning everyone and Happy Moanday! Yep this is a real Monday today, isn't it? Who here is awake without massive doses of caffeine? :coffee:

I got some good exercise on Sunday.. an hour and 15 minutes of step aerobics and this morning I got over an hour of upper body weights :lifter: and floor aerobics. :exercise: I tell ya, getting up at what essentially is 3:30 to exercise really was NOT fun this morning. Kittycat even looked at me like I was nuts! :dizzy:

I was going to do weights on Saturday but I got sidetracked when i got possessed by Suzie homemaker and cleaned!!:hyper: :faint: No I am not "counting " all the chores as exercise because if they really did count, I wouldn't be overweight! I got all my cooking done and had some good kittycat time. She was not feelign neglected at all. well she might have, but that's only because she'd rather have me never sleep and just pet/play with her 24 hours a day!!

Anyway, hope everyone else checks in. Mel, Renee #1 and #2 and Jenn and the greenegg eater and even the lurking Turtlebutt .. I'm waiting :drill: :club:

I have to say that in such a short time, I do feel more fit.
This weekend I did an addition 2.5 miles of walk away the pounds.
I followed yesterday's 1.5 mile with the crunch,The Joy of Yoga dvd.
I am still inching my way to 2 miles. I will definitely be doing walk away the pounds tonight. :carrot:

howdy, ladies. Ugh. I'm writing from home this morning. I had to call in to work. Whine coming: I'm sick! Whiiiiiine! Feeling crappy. After 3 weeks of avoiding it when hubby had it, and when the folks at the office were passing around, it hit me on Saturday. I was unpacking boxes, and dealing with books and bookcases, and hoped it was just dust and stirring up stuff, but no such luck. One nostril is stuffed, the other runs, and then they switch sides on me. Breathing hasn't been the easiest, and after a crappy night's sleep last night, I just couldn't do it. Even the Nyquil didn't get me through the night. So...I'm up, but I'm not happy about it. I really want to do SOMETHING today, since I had a break from exercise Friday as my rest day, and then did 3 miles WATP Saturday, then the head thing happened, and Sunday I didn't do anything more than walking through 3 home depots and a sports authority.

Oh- did you know that the nice padded gel bike seats that they make for "regular" bikes and for spinning class bikes aren't available for the wider exercise bike seats? And that when you ask the dumpy male Sports Authority worker about it, they scoff at you, like fat people aren't supposed to need padding and comfort while they lose weight. Grrr.

Mom2, happy happy happy 60th year. You'd never take you for 60. Never. You've got all the spunk and spark and energy of a 40 year old, and oodles to spare! :) Glad your computer is up, and you're back with us.

Renee- I'm so sorry about Patches. That's never an easy decision to make, and no one can fault you for being off kilter with the emotional eating. Recognizing it is half the battle. So...how do we make this week count? Exercise challenge, you & me? Let's get back in the game...your choice!

Linda, I award you the purple heart for being up at that ungodly hour to exercise. I was lucky I could call in to the office at what amounted to 5:30 this morning. NOT a good day by any stretch of the imagination. Pet that little fuzzbutt for me...not spoiled at all, is she? ;)

Ok, back to the tissues and sudafed for me here. And I gotta make sure I am getting the fluids in, because I can already feel myself getting puffy.

ok, it's bad when I am talking to myself. :( Poop.

Stayed home again today, since the fever still hadn't broken. Now I know what hot flashes are going to be like. Anyhow, I'm sucking down water like there's a shortage, and yesterday I did a lower intensity 3 mile WATP DVD. Today I did the Power Mile, and the Walk and Kick DVD, which is Leslie's version of an intro to kickboxing. The backward kicks will take some effort and getting used to.

Tomorrow it is back to work, and back to business as usual, whether I like it or not. Hope everyone is just having a busy day. Until tomorrow!

Jenn--I hope you are feeling better today. I had sent you an email on Monday, but I guess since you are home sick, you did not get it. sorry. rest and when you are feeling better, get back on the train! my friend! Hey, when you are better, I am up for the challenge. Gotta think of one that won't kill all of us though....

Today was a good day for me. I walked on the treadmill for about 20 minutes and then dug out some old jazzercise tapes (VHS) and did those for about 30 minutes. wow, talk about bringing back memories. I always really like jazzercise. Don't know if anyone here has ever done it. My sil owned a franchise up unitl last year. She is the one who got me started with it back in 1996! wow, almost ten years ago. I jazzercised all the way through my thrid pregnancy. Then, a couple of months later, my sil started teaching. I tried to keep going, but with a new baby and two toddlers and a dh that worked all the time, it was really hard. So I stopped. I always really like the music. All updated, real versions of top hits. Anyway, it was fun. I still remembered some of the routines....hmmmmmm.

So that was my exercise for the day. Eating was pretty good. Still have a few points left for a treat tonite. I bought some sugar free, fat free no calorie chocolate syrup I think I am going to try over some light vanilla ice cream. It was in the mid 70's today (warmer than predicted) and I threw open all the windows in the house. The ground has finally unfroze, and we placed Patches under a nice tree next to the patio. She was a house cat, so there really wasn't any "favorite tree", but this area gets alot of sun, and she was, like most cats, a sun worshiper! Weird, but there is this patch of snow that is still present in the front yard, despite the warm temps. The kids were actually playing in shorts and cooling off in the snow. Well, that is the midwest for you!

Mel, Linda, Turtle (because I know you are lurking, and I am glad), Greeneggsandham, Renee #2--hope all is well.

Zen--WTG with the walking and glad you are feeling more fit. Hope everyone has a wonderful nite.

FOR SOME REASON I KEEP THINKING I POST AND THEN FIND I HAVEN'T! :faint: I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO KEEP TO THE 30 MIN OF PEDALS BUT AM FINDING THAT I NEED TO BREAK THEM UP A BIT. MAYBE I WILL TRY THIS WEEKEND TO START A 15+15 WORKOUT. MY LEGS ARE GETTING TO WEAK AND NOW RUBBERY AFTER THE 15 MARK. SIGH
OTHER THAN THAT ALL IS WELL. :D I AM GETTING A VERY LATE START SO I BETTER GET MY BUNS IN GEAR :moped:
HAPPY HUMP DAY!!! LINDAT!!!!!

JENN~ I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER WITH EACH PASSING DAY.  YOUR PROGRESS IS AMAZING. BUT BE CAREFUL WITH A FEVER!!! :rollpin: SENDING MUCH LOVE AND HUB\GS

RENEE~ YOU ARE AMAZING TOO WITH THE KIDS AND HUBBY AND HOME. I THINK YOU DO A GREAT JOB!! KUDOS TO YOU GIRL!! IT WAS WARMISH HERE TOO AND THE WINDOW IN THE BEDROOM WAS OPEN AND THE HEAT WAS ON IN THE LIVINGROOM  I GET TOO COLD JUST YET. WE'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A CRAPPY ST PATTY'S DAY!!

good late afternoon all!

Mel, thanks :hugs: that was a BIG ego booster for me! Sometimes it is a thankless job, I think! 15 +15 is still = to 30, whether you do it all at once or break it up. Just make sure to get the ole heart pumping each time! :)

Jenn, hope all is well. Sorry, didn't get back to the computer until later and then I realized you were probably already home....hope if you feel worn out from the day at work, you take it a bit easy, if not, well then...workout like a crazy woman! LOL

Linda, I know that aweful place that gives you a paycheck is making you work like a dog today! LOL

Everyone else, hope all is going well on this hump day! :)

I squeeked in 20 min on the treadmill this morning, before all the errands I had to run. I was finally pleased to find the fiber one bars in the store that everyone on the journal side have been raving about, and let me tell ya, no disappointment there! Man are they good. Then I did some research on them on the internet, and of course, I found out they contained "bad" stuff like HFCS, and hydrogenated oils. Sigh. Well, an occasional treat they will be. I also picked up some new Cherry Dark Chocolate TLC Kashi bars...also very good. None of the "bad" stuff. More protein in the kashi bars, more fiber in the fiber one bars.

Well, I guess I best get dinner going here. I put some potatoes in the oven earlier for baked potatoes, and couldn't wrap them in foil because I found I was out (and I just went to the store today! LOL) and I just checked on them and as I had the door open, one EXPLODED! lol I guess I didn't poke it enough! OH well, thank goodness I have a self cleaning oven!

have a good evening ladies! Remember, eat less, move more!

OMG!!!
That is crazy that your potato exploded:dizzy:
I told my lovely boyfriend that could happen and he didn't believe me!!
I have proof positive now.
I hope everyone is all right. Snow here AGAIN.
WHEN will it stop. I'm beginning to feel as though once again Environment Canada has it in for me, and my new bike.
Anyways must be off.
Everyone have a great night!

good thurday morning! :)

Yes, Tam, snow here today too! blech! And after 75 degree weather on Tuesday...well, it's Northeastern Ohio, and I guess it is to be expected....the weather guy on one of the local tv stations once explained spring as the struggle between winter and summer...and I thought that was pretty accurate, sometimes one wins over the other, sometimes they compromise (hence "spring like days") What can you do? Oh ya, MOVE SOUTH! LOL

Yes, it is true. Those potatoes explode without adequate outlets for the build up of steam as they cook. I poked them, but I guess not good enough. I am running the cleaning cycle o the oven right now...and burnt potato is PU! LOL If it would have been wrapped in foil, atleast it would have contained the mess. :)

As I mentioned, the weather here took a turn for the worse last night. I woke up to a bit more than a dusting of snow and slush...and just when the last bit of snow from the last snowfall vanished yesterday....can't see the grass anymore...kind of a big downer... :( There was actually a tornado in the county west of me last night--not a huge one, but it did do some structural damage. Lots of flood warnings out today too, because of all the rain and the snow melt, and a winter storm warning to the south. Busy weather day, I guess.

Going to walk on the treadmill and attempt Bob again today. I will try to post back and let you know how that goes. Eating yesterday was good, except I do think I overdid it a bit on the fiber...if you know what I mean. Natures little brooms (to quote LInda) did a little spring cleaning, I think! LOL I added all the grams up and I came out a bit over 30, which is about 5-10 grams more than I usually get. I had a few points left again in the evening, so I had 2 one point chocolate cakes from ww--and guess what they contain?...more fiber! LOL

I am planning on making corned beef and cabbage and red potatoes and carrots for St. Patty's day on Saturday...and decided that since it is dh's bday on Sunday, I would just invite the parents over and celebrate then. I ordered a cake yesterday. I think I will try my hand at some Irish Soda bread tomorrow for Saturday too. I have a Barefoot contessa cookbook that has the recipe, and it looks good. I love Ina and her recipes! She uses lots of veggies, Linda! LOL I got dh a GPS system (Magellan) the other day for about $250, I thought that was a great price. So that is what he is getting. I hope he likes it, because he is a bear to find the right gift for....

To everyone, have a wonderful day! :) Tam, I hope you get to use the new bike soon! :)

Morning, ladies! I've been sitting here trying to get an entry written for the last 2 hours, but I tell you, the phone doesn't stop. I'm little miss popular today, with the issues and problems. There are not enough hours left in my life to get this stuff resolved. ;)

Ok...I know I never got here yesterday, so I need to recap. Tuesday I did the Power Mile, and then the Walk & Kick. Last night, I got on the bike and did 10 miles in 33:30 (33 mins, 30 seconds). Mom called while I was 8.5 in, which slowed me down slightly, to hold the phone. She was complaining about work, so all I had to do was utter a few "that sucks" and "unfair" and "uh huhs" but when she wanted ME to talk, that was harder. She let me go finish, and then I called her back when I was done, because the "obscene phone call" panting wasn't her cup of tea. LOL.

Dinner was a planned "deviant" meal- with PMS and being sick, I really wanted comfort type food, and hubby was working late. He brought home pizza. I calculated the heck out of it, and was able to have 2 slices, and still be within range for everything for the day. It's a little more fat than I usually eat, but I think that worked, because this morning, the scale moved AGAIN, and I had to get on & off a total of 4 times, because I didn't believe it. I don't recommend getting sick as a diet plan, but dang, it works wonders!

Mom2- you're my bestest cheerleader, ever. :cheer2: I swear, you've been behind me, through thick and "thinner." And that's a lot of thick to be behind! ;) I say break up the pedaling if you need to- it all adds up. :) It's going to be 85 here today, so come on down if there's more threats of snow. This is getting nutso, you know!

Renee- ok, I think I've gotten most of the grodies out- I've got little congestion left, and what's there is being managed with tissues and sudafed. Ready to get this moving? Pick your poison, friend. LOL. Minutes of exercise challenge? treadmill / bike mileage? Oooh, sounds like Jazzercize might be back into your rotation. Oh, and I hate to say, I laughed out loud here about the exploding potato. Like from mission impossible- I kept thinking "This potato will self destruct in 3......2.....1....."

Tam- I certainly don't envy you with more snow coming your way. Yikes. I'd be stir crazy, needing to get outside. Hopefully it won't be as bad, this late in the season.

Linda- hope you're having a wonderful Thursday. Weekend is almost here. :) And tomorrow is your rest day! :D

hi, i thought i would join your group and accept your challenge. for those of you who know me from the journals, thinbelina has been found and is ready for action, so look out!! for those who don't know me, thinbelina is what i named my motivation, she's my pet. and like my dog she likes to run and jump and play! unfortunately she gets lost very easily and sometimes she's hard to find. but every now and then something will happen and she willjust jump up in lap from out of nowhere.
when she saw the challenge she got very excited and can't wait til monday! i hope to get to know everyone here better. i love the journals but this seems a little more cozy.
thanks again for the invite, i know it was for everyone, but i am thankful anyway! amy

WELCOME AMY! thanks for joining us and the challenge! Thinbellina will be happy and won't hide on you again! :) I wish I could say there was a big $ prize at the end of the challenge--hey, that would be motivation, huh? But the prize will be how great you feel after accomplishing 4 weeks of good habits and possibly a nice drop on the scale to go with it!

Ok, for me today, I decided to kick off the challenge unofficially with a 40 min, sweat inducing walk on the treadmill. I figured in order to make 200 min a week, for myself, 40min x 5 days will do it. If I don't make the 5 days, I can split the last 40 min, between the weekend, and just do 20min on Sat and Sun. Monday is really become the hard day to get any real exeercise in, because it is cleaning, kids laundry, basketball practice, dance for dd, day. If the stupid weather would improve, and stay nice here, I could actually go outside and walk while ds is inside practicing...but right now, the weather totally sucks...

Mel, I am with Jenn, can't imagine how you pedal with your buns! LOL But any kind of pedalling is good peddaling! LOL the oven is clean, no more Mr. potato guts all over! Hope you enjoyed your cb, mine is going to be enjoyed tomorrow.

Jenn, as always, great job exercising...Your ticker, it seems just keeps falling...there is no stopping it! Go Jenn! Still laughing when I think about 200 hours! LOL Can't even imagine!

Linda, hope work lets you visit soon. Turtle, GEAH ,Renee #2 and everyone else out there....eat less, move more! have a great weekend. I am going to try to get here over the weekend, but not sure if I will!

Lunch just ended so here I yam! :D

Hi Jenn, Mel, Renee, Zen and Amy.. only can scroll back one page so sorry if I missed anyone!

Renee, Are you only doing this as a cardio challenge or does weight training and other forms of exercise count too? I get this amount of cardio already but I will try and rampy up the intensity without ramping up the chow!!! :o

The lady I was covering for is back in the office and I have one last test script to do this afternoon so I hope things will be more normal next week.

If any of you are Coldwater creek fans, the outlet stores are having an additional 30% off this until the 20th. Now that is ONLY the outlet store, not regular ones so if you have an outlet near you, might be good deals. I do have one so I may be hitting it tomorrow. That is if I can pry my lazy butt out of the house!

sorry no time right now for personals, but I do read an make sure you are all not getting into trouble. I need to go do my last test so happt weekend everyone

Linda, feel free to customize the challege however you need to... :carrot:

WHAT???LINDA TURNED INTO A YAM??? ALL YELLOWY-ORANGY??WITH A TOUGH SKIN??? I'LL SEND OVER SOME OIL OF OLAY RIGHT AWAY...GOOD FOR SKINS OF ANY KIND.
SORRY LINDA...JUST BEING SILLY AFTER A VERY LONG WEEK. HOPE YOU GET SOME TIME NOW TO RELAX A BIT AND SMELL THE NEW SPRING FLOWERS. OR MAYBE THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING WITH OUR SINUSES!

JEN~ GOOS WORK!! 13 MILES!! I THINK I PUT THAT MANY ON TOO...DOES SITTING COUNT???? :lol3:

RENEE~ GREAT JOB ALSO. MONDAYS ARE ALWAYS THE WORST FOR ME ALSO. YOUR PLAN SOUNDS GREAT!!

PEDALS & BUNS: WHEN I PEDAL, THE THIGH MUSCLES MOVE THE MUSCLES OF MY BUNS AND FURTHER UP ...THEN WHEN THEY INFLAME, THEY SWELL AND PINCH BOTH SCIATICA NERVES. GUESS I SHOULD HAVE EXPLAINED THAT BETTER. THERE IS NO WAY TO PEDAL ANYTHING WITHOUT REACHING THAT AREA.
GUESS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM NOW IS THAT MY CONDITION IS SO BAD AS THE YEARS GO AND I AM ALREADY INFLAMED FROM HEAD TO TOE...BUT I AM DETERMINED TO KEEP AS LIMBER AS POSSIBLE TILL I CAN NO LONGER DO IT ANYMORE. KEEPING MY FREEDOM FROM A NURSING HOME DEPENDS ON MY FINDING A HAPPY MEDIUM AND HOLDING ON TO IT FOR AS LONG AS I CAN. THE SUN IS OUT AND EVERYTHING IS ALL SNOW AND ICE COVERED. BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT BUT IT KEEPS ME FROM ROAMING THE NEIGHBORHOOD! LUCKY NEIGHBORS!
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND STAY WELL AND SAFE!!!

the corned beef is cooking away and smells sooooo goood right now! Just dropping in while waiting for my parents, the in laws and dh to arrive.

Mel, I know you will do whatever it takes to stay away from the nursing home and stay independent as long as you can. YOU ROCK! :) Doing whatever you can, when you can is better than sitting and doing nothing at all....plus, you have listen to your body if it tells you enough for now....

Hope everyone else is enjoying a lovely weekend.

I love the irish blessing Mel!

Happy St Patrick's Day, and Happy Birthday to Renee's hubby!

I'm finally inside after a day of gardening. It has been beautiful here- 70 degrees, 34% humidity- not a cloud in the sky, and a nice breeze. I took the camera outside to take pics of the citrus- some have lost their deep green, and we're using ironite on them, and I wanted to keep progress pics. The 3 newest trees- the key limes- have these HUGE blossoms all over them, and to me, orange blossoms (really, all citrus blossoms smell almost exactly the same) is the best smell in the world, as far as outdoor smells. I could sniff that all day. And I did, from 9am unti just after 6:30 today. Weeding, raking, re-soiling trees, mulching, fertilizing, watering, more watering...busy day. There were these HUGE honey bees that kept circling the key limes, and I spent a good 20 minutes taking pics of these big fat bees in the blossoms. We are going to have so much fruit this year. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them off the camera. :)

I was thinking about a short bike ride tonight. I got some sun today, despite the slathered SPF 30, so maybe a bike ride, then a shower to get the goop and dirt and sweat off me, and then a nice evening in front of the open windows with my book. Ahhh.

Mel is so right, going to have to move closer to Jenn for sure! LOL Snow, cold and well, sun here today...but dang, Jenn's entry sounds like it's summer time...boo hoo, I miss summer! LOL I have never smelled citrus blossoms before, but I am certain, from Jenn's description, they are heavenly. No growth of nothing here....patience....Renee...patience. I can see little bits of my daffodils poking up from beneath the snow.

Thanks for the well wishes for dh's bday. The dinner was great. Of course, I had too much of most everything. Today was back on track. No exercise today...but tomorrow starts the CHALLENGE!! Short day for the kids (early release, don't ask) so I will be pressed for time, but I WILL DO MY 40 MINUTES, no excuses! TOM came on Saturday and that pretty much sucked, two full days of miserable cramps...hoping tomorrow will be better on that front. Visited the Mustard Seed Market today, and I am thinking it is pretty much the closest thing we have to Trader Joes around here. Bought a bunch of things. Found that Fage yogurt, and bought some. Fat free and really pretty good, even though I am not much of a yogurt person. I think that it would be a great substitute for sour cream though. The ff version much, much better than any ff sour cream I have had.

See you girls tomorrow, AFTER I sweat for 40...and I hope to see Amy, Jenn and everyone else who is doing the challenge here to report their success! :)

Hi there! I'm Lainey from the Journals. Just wanted to hop on and make sure I'm doing this right. I do believe I'll join your forum, even though I'm a little scared. Hey Lainey BOOOOOO!! snicker snort. Glad you made it over here. Now you are doomed because you made the commitment!! :D :drill:

I got lots of good exercise this weekend. 93 minutes yesterday and 63 so far today (yes I count those 3 minutes!!) I am going to try and ramp up to 90 a day for this challenge so more tonight when I get home. I did 43 minutes of TAebo with the amped bar this morning and 20 minutes of regular floor aerobics. Probably will do the remainder of the floor aerobics DVD from this morning. I felt like a klutz!

Hi Mel, you pedalling fool!!:joker: Hope you are feeling better

Amy, come back and post.. you are MIA :drill:

Renee, nice workout.. keep it up

Good workout Jenn, Your picture is making me sneeze!!

Now even though this challenge is for exercise, this does NOT mean you should be eating more to compensate. Like it or not, exercise is not the largest part of the equation. it is an importnat one, but unless you are eating right, you are going to be spending all your time exercising off overeating and not making any headway on a loss. So watch the eats too!!

mel, I really am liking your idea about visiting Jenn. It snowed here today, and slushed and rained and it's cold and durry.....LOL about the chair reclining on it's own and not needing the bed!

I'm VERY excited about this exercise challenge - it started today right? I just got home from the gym and am happy to report that I did 60 mins of cardio on the elliptical. WOOHOO :dancer:

I also went grocery shopping afterwards and got all sorts of healthy treats for myself and DH.

Hi Lainey & Kelly! Welcome! Hee hee hee- Linda's got you know...and she doesn't let go easily! ;) Nah, that's one of the things we love about her.

Reporting in my 35 minutes for tonight- the WATP Walk Slim 2 miles. Too much housework to get a longer one in tonight. Since my big goal for the remainder of March is to get my butt up at the first alarm ( :censored: time change) I might actually be able to fit a 1 mile WATP in before my shower. No promises- but I'm going to see if that happens at all this week. :) 200 minutes is 200 minutes, even if they are 15 at a time.

Food's good- water- don't ask me how, but today I've had 128oz before I even got home. I am surprised I didn't have to make a pit stop on the turnpike on the way home! LOL.

All right- laundry to hang...whites to stick in the dryer, dinner still needs to be re-heated, and then, at 9pm, I'll do my upper body weights & bands while watching 24. Keifer time! :D

Personal notes for everyone tomorrow, when my house isn't suffering from outdoor weekend and neglect. ;) Hugs to all my chickies! And again, welcome to Lainey & Kelly! Oops! I missed LawyerChick while I was busy rambling. Welcome!!!! :welcome:

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

Glad to see some other journalers here too! Yay!

Okay, so yesterday I did 43 minutes of cardio (my Turbo Jam cardio party) leaving me with 157 minutes left for the week. Since I have company Friday and Saturday, I may have to get up early Friday and workout in the morning to make the 200 min goal! I will have house guests Saturday, so I will workout each day this week.

Today will be another Cardio Party ... maybe CP2.

Okay, going to track my TJ2 package ... something new would be fun this week!

Have fun girls!

Morning sweaters. :D And no that doesn't mean an article of clothing. It means ladies who sweat!!

I think my body is old. Well it is old chronologically, but today it feels old. The past three days have been ramped up exercise and I am feelin' it!! 93 minutes Sunday, 93 yesterday and so far 68 this morning. I'll make sure to do at leat 22 when I get home to get my goal of 90 minutes.

How nice to see kelly and Lwyr chick join us. :welcome2: You both got some excellent initial workouts. Keep it up.

Amy, you channeled me. Too funny. I am like a specter I guess. I like to call it the voice of my mother. The older I get, the more right she has been about things and this irritates me to no end.

Jenn good workout and excellent bladder control. :carrot:

Mel, a scratch and sniff web site would indeed be frightening. Sometiems I wonder if this is why I am single.. my cat doesn't mind me smelling so bad.

Renee, so how IS Bob doing? Tell him I don't miss him at all! :p

And where is Renee #2? And Turtlebutt? and I may be forgetting someone but I cannot scroll back or else I'll lose my post!!

Time to finish my coffee!

Wow! this is great! A good showing of love and support for our challenge....Yeah! WELCOME LWYR AND KELLY! SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE!

I actually made it outside today to walk my 40 min. It is sunny, snow is melted off the sidewalks and drives, but still cold. Well, brisk....at any rate. The only good thing about it being so cold when you walk, is that you don't seem to sweat as much! LOL So I guess I didn't become a "sweater" today! LOL Soooo, 200 min - 80 min = 120min to go for the week.

I did well with food yesterday, except I had a small pc of dh's leftover bday cake (what can I say, I am a sucker for frosting flowers) Then I packed that bad boy up to go to work with dh today. Gone forever.

Jenn, great job sweating and getting the minutes in! I am still envious of your weather! You are absolutely right about splitting the time up, the most important thing is that you get it done...and you will, I know it! You continue to do so well! :)

Amy, no title required. You can just quick post and be done! And WTG getting all that movement in and avoiding the bread and french fries! A BIG victory for you today! Keep it up!

Kelly, so glad you made it! Great job exercising and I am hoping that dvd didn't get lost in the mail. It happened to me with a PUSH dvd once, and I had to contact them to send out a new one!

Lwyr, so glad you made it here too! Good job getting to the gym and I love your pic, btw. It is so nice to finally put a face to a voice (so to speak). The pic from the party this past weekend?

Lainey, hope you visit again soon and post up your sweating! ;)

Mel, good exercise hauling stuff around. Today is spring, and that means it will soon be easier for you to get out and do things! No slush on your tires! My cat seems to "prefer" me smelling bad LOL, what's up with that? LOL

Linda, WTG as usual with all that sweating. Wow! that is about all I can say....and Bob, um, haven't seen him for a few days...but I will promise to get back on Thursday...I will send him your regards! Sounds like Billy is filling his shoes just fine for you.

To all our other cybersupportbuddies, hope you are moving and grooving...

So Renee and LindaT, you have inspired me once again.. The challenge is to get moving. I am getting ready to go hit the treadmill for 35 minutes of stationary fun! :)

I look forward to getting to know everyone on the thread. I tend to stay on the journal side.:carrot:

WELCOME URSULA AND TAMMY! the original challenge is for 200 minutes per week x 4 weeks of cardio type exercise. For me, that means I will be shooting for 40min , 5 days a week. Linda can accomplish this no problem, so she is customizing it for herself. If you feel that 200 min is too easy, feel free to customize it for yourself too.

A special shout out to Jennifer, who is the mastermind of this whole challenge, SHE ROCKS! In the time I have been here, she has moved that ticker down several times! Go Jenn!

Good evening ladies! i hope to get to know everyone soon so that i can write a little somethin somethin to each person. it gives me warm fuzzies to know that i have friends who are paying attention to what i am saying.
todays exercise has been 20 minutes on the treadmill (i went faster than i did yesterday so i didn;t stay on as long) and 40 minutes of yoga.that gives me 60 for today plus 65 for yesterday. that is 125. so 200-125=75. at this rate i should surpass the goal but since i have just started getting back in the groove of exercising every day i didn't want to commit to a challenge that i couldn't do. this seems to be going quite nicely. i may up my goal next week.
i just wanted to say how glad i am that so many other journalers have come over to participate. it sure makes all this hard work fun!
hOpe everyone has a good nights sleep and wakes up feeling good in the morning!

THANK YOU so much for starting this challenge if I haven't said it enough already! :thanks: It FINALLY got my butt moving this year. :running:

I came home from work, changed quickly and went to the gym for a 60 min session of cardio followed by 30 mins of weights. My weights workout was a little draggy at parts because I was tired from cardio, so I didn't push myself. But hey, I am INTO THIS! My DH usually does 20 mins of cardio and then about 45 mins of weights. He is wondering what's gotten into me

I feel wonderful, except that I've decided to cut down my diet sodas (I usually have one a day, but I'm trying to cut down to one or two a week) and so I've been drinking water to replace it - and last night I had to keep getting up to...well, you know.

Anyway, GREAT to see all you journalers here. Hey Kelly, Tammy, Ursula, and any other newbies like me I missed! :gossip:

Alright, well its dinner time. DH feels like take out chinese and although the place we order from is pretty "healthy" (I mean, how healthy can take out chinese really be :D) I think I'll go with something from my fridge.

See you on HUMP Day Ladies!! Much Love.

Evening, everyone! And welcome to more new faces- Amy, Ursula, and Tammy! Wow- it has been a long time since things were this hopping- and this is certainly a great thing!

First of all, Renee is equally to blame for this challenge. LOL! We've been trying to poke and prod each other to keep it moving, and to do more, and well, Renee's FIRST suggestion was to do 200 HOURS of cardio a week. Let's face it- only Linda would be able to do that without collapsing! :lol3: Once we got that typo out of the way, it all seemed like smooth sailing. to Renee, for actually getting the thoughts together, and posting it to the journals.

Ok- busy day at work today, so that's why I am just NOW getting here. 16 glasses of water today, 1654 calories, 45 minutes of cardio, and 20 mins of upper body & core tonight. Total so far for the cardio challenge- 70 minutes. I did the 3 mile WATP w/ ab belt, and then used hand weights and resistance bands for the 20.

Amy- sorry I missed you last night- welcome to the group! French fries would have done me in- I can't touch them. It's such a comfort food for me, which just leads to problems!

Kelly- how do you like Turbo Jam? How intense is it? Do you need to be pretty coordinated?

Ursula- Welcome to the group! 43 minutes on the Treadclimber? I am already in awe!

Tammy- good to see you here! :) Welcome!

Mel & Linda- what can I say? It just wouldn't be "home" without you here. So a big  to both of you, and Linda, for putting up with us. ;)

Ok, I have to prep for tomorrow, since it looks like a repeat performance of today. I'll try to get in here at lunchtime, if all goes well. Have a great night! :)

200 hours of cardio I couldn't even accomplish being that there are only 168 hours in a week  If one of you ladies has the secret of stopping time so I can try this, let me know. I'll give it a whirl.

We are either all going to get in the best shape ever in the next 4 weeks or we'll all keel over!

I'm having the hardest time falling asleep!! :tired: Must be all that working out - my body had gotten pretty used to a more relaxed (sedentary) lifestyle since the I stopped exercising in December. I have so much energy, I'm finding it hard to just relax and fall asleep.

My eating has been completely under control (as it usually is during the week) but I found myself pondering whether I would indulge this weekend as much as I usually do. The thing is I don't work out on the weekends - even for the past 3 years while I've been maintaining I splurge on weekends and enjoy them - no working out and no watching the diet. ...Lately though Linda's words "calories count on weekends" have been haunting me. :dizzy: DH and I usually do a champagne brunch at our favorite place on the water on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I'm wondering if I should keep that indulgence, but work on the others. HMMMM. Usually when Friday rolls around, its wine and food time for 2 days straight. I wonder if I could still have a glass or two of wine - and have what I want to eat, but still watch what I eat portion wise - or maybe just make somewhat smarter choices.

Basically, TONE IT DOWN. I like the idea!! :woohoo: Mainly because then I wouldn't have to spend the entire week making up the damage the I did over the weekend, which is what I do now. When I lost weight I really learned alot about eating healthy foods and I developed eating habits, I just try my hardest to ignore them on the weekends. That results in me being "extra good" on weekdays. Perhaps I should try being "good" all the time (including weekends!) with a few indulgences that are special here and there when I feel like it. Whatdya say gals?

OH, and also - I think I should definitely continue working out - even on wknds (perhaps, ESP on wknds) even if I'm eating bad. I don't feel like it because I feel like I might as well be bad all around, but that isn't rational - so out with that!

OH - and last thing - Jennifer, HI! I saw that you drank 16 glasses of water today - AWESOME! I'm trying to follow in your footsteps. I definitely notice everything is better when I'm hydrated - my skin, hair, etc. Do you stop drinking at a certain time during the day so um...you don't spend the night getting up to tinkle? Sorry for the graphic, but I have to know. :)

Morning, chickadees! It's hump day...we're halfway there! Tonight, I've got 45 minutes of cardio scheduled- I might be tempted to get in a little more, since I've been on a week long plateau. I'm sure it is from the lack of "formal" exercise this weekend, since the intensity wasn't there. So I've got to change some things up. I did a different DVD last night, and I'll keep changing things up, and hopefully by the end of the week I'll see some more movement in the right direction.

LwyrChick, the water- glad you're increasing yours, too. That was hard for me, since I am definitely a diet coke girl. I've cut that down to 1 can in the morning, on my morning commute (never liked coffee- that's my morning pick me up) and then I start with the water once I get into the office. I have a big blue glass that holds 18oz, and I fill that, and start. My goal is to get through 5 of those a day, before I leave the office (for 10 8oz glasses) and then I drink more water once I get home, after my workout, and then during, and after dinner. I do have to cut off the drinking at work by 3pm at the latest. I leave at 4pm, and I have an hour commute, and there aren't enough bushes on the side of the road to hide me if an emergency pit stop was called for. :) At first, I was having to hit the potty about every 45 mins to an hour. It took about 2 weeks, maybe 3, for my body to get used to actually having as much water as it needed, and to settle into something a little more normal. My hint- keep the glass filled at all times. if you finish the last swallow, get up, and refill it. I'm filling up now for the 5th time this morning, so I'm ahead of schedule today.

How's everyone else this morning? What's on the agenda for today?

Front and center everyone!! :drill: I want to see some sweat and some posting!!

As of this morning, I officially detest Billy. :p He was pushing it on Monday but today was just over the edge. He beat me up for 53 minutes as I did the second DVD Fat Burn Accelerator and I did that darned thing without the bar!! I was sweating buckets. I hate double time. have I mentioned that before? Anyway, I struggled through a workout with him and then tacked on another 20 minutes of regular floor aerobics for 73 minutes this morning. I'll finish the DVD when I get home tonight. Yes I worked out last night when I got home. I did 21 minutes last night so I got my 90 minutes for the day. Who's stupid idea was it to exercise 90 minutes a day? :dizzy:

Renee, good going on the walk. before you know it, you'll be some sort of a crasy runner or something!

Urs, nice to have you here. Great workout

Tammy, hurray for the stationary fun. I wish I had room for a machine but alas.. not right now.

Amy, you Yoga queen you! I really respect anyone that can put them through that sort of torture

Lwyr - sorry about getting into your brain. I have a way of doing that it seems. I just like to share tidbits I'v learned along the way. I mean everyone really KNOWS that calories count all the time, but for some reason all of us.. me included still is in the habit of using food to relax on the weekends. I wish it was easier to think of food as just fuel, but there is so much emotion atached to it. great workout.

Jenn, did you spend the day in the potty or what? 16 glasses wholey moley!! Good going on the cardio. Just think back when you started back at this.. you were at 15 minutes a day I think. now look at you!!

So now I need to get back to my journal entry. I am sitting here in front of my space heater, toasting my buns. One thing I have noticed the past few days since I ramped up the exercise is that I am a lot colder. What's up with that???

finally! a chance to post here! Whew, it was a busy day....

Met my mom for an early lunch, but managed to get 20 minutes in on the treadmill...Soooooo 200 - 100 leaves 100 minutes this week to go for me. I am seriously hoping to knock out somemore minutes tonite....Lunch was fine, and I settled on a honey lime bleu salad with the dressing on the side. The salad comes with lettuce, mand oranges, bleu cheese, walnuts, red pepper strips, grape tomatoes and the drsg is the honey-lime part. Very yummy. The bleu cheese and the walnuts and too much of the dressing, I know are the high cal parts...so I did not have a snack today...and quite frankly, just didn't have time. After lunch, i picked up the earring backing I had to order from the jewelery store ($96.74...thank you very much...geesh!) Platnium, that is why...and then we came back home to work on some sunday school projects for her class. I commented on a few journals, and have dinner in the oven right now. Cod, baked potatoes, and fresh carrots. So that is my story for today! PUSH #6 came in the mail today...I am still on #4. I promise to get some Bob time in tomorrow! No excuses!

Linda, great and excellent job working out with Billy today...ooops! I almost typed Bob. Glad to see that he is beating you up with the same intensity as Bob! LOL I will NEVER be running...unless I have a boob reduction, because running is too much bouncing for these bad boys....uh...or girls I should say...they don't really even make a sports bra in the cup area big enough for me...I hate them...dh loves them....men! I thought that upping your exercise is supposed to INCREASE your body's metabolism! It must be a conspiracy! LOL

Jenn, wtg stepping it up! I know that you will see some changes...I am like linda in that I can never count housework or garden stuff as exercise either, or else I would not need to be coming here.

Lwyr--You are kicking butt girl, at that gym! :) I have to stop all water at about 8pm, or else I am up at night too...and oh lordie, I love my sleep, so getting up to pee really makes me mad! LOL You are young yet, so you can probably afford to splurge a bit on the weekends...you will know if it is too much if you start to gain though...so balance is the key. I think you can still have the champagne brunch....just make good choices and limit portions. I cannot live without 1 cup of coffee, first thing in the morning!

Amy, you are doing great with the exercise and the yoga! Is that your dh in that big comfy chair on your profile? You both look really happy. Hope to hear from you tonite with more on your renewed commitment to good health! ;)

Everyone else, I hope you are out there getting in your time to make the 200 min and I hope to hear from you all soon! Take care my fav chickies!

Well, I opened up dvd #6 of Bob today, and as Linda had heard through the grapevine, Mike is now the trainer and Bob is gone. I watched a bit, and decided that I did not mesh with his personality. Then, I started having problems with the dvd itself, and skipping and not playing right, then the dvd player said it couldn't read the disc...this makes the second defective dvd I have gotten since I began....sigh...so I quite my membership tonite, via email. It is ok. I am still only on dvd month 4...so I have plenty of material to work on yet.....

Well, Renee, if you want to move on to something else...like Billy and TaeBo- would you believe I have 12 different TaeBo VHS tapes. Does that tell you have long I have had them- and they have never been touched! I know- for shame, for shame! They were too advanced for me when I tried the intro way back when, and I am working my way into them. But I can share, in the meantime. :)

Tonight was the 4 mile Fast walk- 50 minutes. Total so far for the cardio challenge- 120 minutes. My goal tomorrow night is to get a nice bike ride in, and maybe do one of the shorter (1-2 mile) walks with the weights- maybe the Power mile.

Sorry to post and run, but I have hubby waiting for me tonight. :) Happy hump day, ladies. :) More in the morning.

Great to see so many 'familiar' faces here from the journals!

Yesterday I got in another 43 minutes and today I got in 65 minutes (combined total of 40 min weights/25 min treadmill) soooo I believe that puts me at 49 minutes to go! I received my new Turbo Jam Maximum Results DVDs tonight (I already have the first set, have been using those since about last summer on and off). I debated on what workout I was going to do tonight. Normally, I am thrilled to tackle new ones but tonight I am so crampy (Tom) and decided to proceed with my weights since it's slower paced, and the treadmill. Tomorrow I will tackle Cardio Party 3 (a new one! 50 minutes) and Friday will be Fat Blaster, which is a quick 30 minute DVD which will be perfect for Friday morning. I have to get Friday's workout in early since I will have guests and a FULL house Friday - Sunday.

Jennifer, WOW you are the water queen! Unfortunately, I LOVE coffee so my first 3 cups of liquid each day are that  I am trying to up my water intake. As far as Turbo Jam goes, I really love it. I am not very coordinated at all, but once you learn the moves it isn't difficult. I have had the set since last summer, and added on a couple single DVDs over the winter, and just today (as I already went on about earlier) I received my Maximum Results package. As far as intensity goes, I have to be honest - sometimes I don't work up that much of a sweat doing the workouts. It's also true that I don't always put in 100% like I should, but I used to do the Firm and found some of those workouts much tougher. It's basically a dancy-kickboxing though, and I like that! I do NOT like the Ab Jam, I find the standing ab work to be worthless, in my own personal instance.

LwyrChick - Great job on the workouts! I am similar to you in my maintenance, but I think I fall off the wagon far more often! It's been 3.5 years now since I hit goal, but my lack of focus sometimes has resulted in me gaining and losing the same ten pounds over and over again. The good part is that I always seem to catch myself and have still kept off the weight this long, and I finally feel like I can honestly say I will never be 245 pounds again. Anyway, I am going off topic here ... your post just has me thinking about my own eating habits, the being "good" on the weekdays and being ... well, we won't go into the weekends here! What is that saying? When I'm good, I'm GOOD ... but when I am bad, I'm so so bad. Or was that a song? haha, I need sleep I think!

Linda - 90 minutes a day?!?! You are the exercise QUEEN!! It gives me muscle fatigue just thinking about it!

Renee - The salad you picked out at lunch sounds terrific! Sorry to hear that it didn't work out with PUSH! You could always try Turbo Jam! Push sounds interesting, but I don't think I would last through DVD 1.

Okay, sorry to cut short but kids want cuddle time, gotta run! Have a good night ladies!

Kelly

Well, its not midnight yet - but I thought I'd do a quick late night post. DH is already in bed and waiting for me b/c he has night call tomorrow...that means after tomorrow morning I won't see him till Friday when I get home from work! :( He gets off Friday morning, but unfortunately I'll be at work. We have a date Friday night tho, so I'll look forward to that. ;)

ANYWHO, I'm writing to update my exercise log: I did 60 mins of cardio again tonight, putting me at a grand total of 180 mins this week. It's been GREAT - literally, it's been 3 years since I did this much cardio in one go, lol. I've been skimping on the weights because I don't want to spend my entire day at the gym, but I think if I go to the gym at all on Saturday or Sunday, I'll just do weights. That leaves two days (Thurs and Fri) for me to do 20 mins of cardio - I think I can manage that.

Renee, PLEASE don't up the exercise ante - 200 mins is enough! The KEY to this challenge, methinks, will be stamina. If I can keep up 200 mins/per week for a month, I'll be really proud of myself. DH's hospital has a "retreat" for the residents and their spouses at a little maritime/yachting village on the Chesapeake Bay in the middle of April - that's the reward I'm looking forward to. I'm already planning a hot stone massage there while they do their meetings! :yay:

Kelly, you're doing an awesome job on exercise too!! WTG! Enjoy your family this weekend. Also, like you and Renee, I can't get my morning started without coffee. :coffee2: Coffee, sweets, and salt - just can't get away from 'em!

Linda, you are an exercise queen. Do you get tired of hearing that? Does kitty know what a health diva mommy is? :D

Jen great job on that 4 mile power walk!! :bravo: Dontcha love that exercise high? I do, but it's keeping me up late at night!

Alright ladies, have a wonderful night and I'll see you tomorrow!! Much Love.

well ladies sorry for not posting yesterday, it was a rough day for me.

Linda--i don't think i have quite met yoga queen status yet, i just put in the tape and TRY to do the poses. i think the only one i have gotten right so far is the one where you lay on the floor and stretch out your arms and legs. but i am having a good time trying and the pm tape seems to really relax me so that i can fall asleep.

Renee--yes! that is my hundy Mike in the pic with me. we have been together for 11 years now and everyday i fall more and more in love with him. do you think it shows?

ok so here is the scoop on wednesday...only drank 2 glasses of water and replaced the rest with diet coke and powerade.
food was great until about 830 last night. i ate a pint of ice cream and cereal out of the box, so i have no idea about how much cereal i ate.
and i didn't workout any...
that is my confession this week.
last night my daughter's church group had a special program for the parents telling about how hard they are working on service projects and the things they are doing to help them keep their virtue and draw closer to heavenly father, so i didn't get to do my usual store walking while she was in church. and then after that i met with my bishop (he's like the head minister of the church) and it was a good meeting but very emotional and i was so drained afterward that i just pigged out and went to bed.
but for today i will be back in motion. i have a session with a personal trainer for the weight equipment this afternoon and then i will get in my cardio.
also our gym is having this new contest for the month of april and the winner gets 10 free personal training sessions. I WILL WIN THIS TIME!! but for me to win i have to do 45 minutes of cardio AND 45 minutes of strength training everyday for the whole month!! i know with the encouragement i get here i can do this!
i will come back later tonight and post my exercise time for today.
hope everyone has a great day!

Good afternoon all! :)

Mel, take all the break you need and know that we will be here waiting for you when you return!

Amy, sorry you had a bad day yesterday, but I am glad you are back on track today. We are human, and bad days are inevitable I think. We all need to develop better tools to deal with emotional issues and such, and realize that sometimes life throws us off course and as long as we get back track, it will be ok. One thing I have been doing is portioning out all my food (good or bad) if I eat crackers, I put them in a bowl and count out one serving. Maybe this would help. I don't know. I am just glad you haven't lost your resolve.

Lwyr, I will not up the minutes in the challenge. :) I am not sure I could do anymore than this right now myself! The reward sounds heavenly! What specialty is dh planning on going into after his residency?

Kelly, great job on the turbo jam and treadmill. I am going to have to check Tj out. I know you could do PUSH! Sorry tom is giving you a workout too!

Jenn, thanks for the offer for the dvd's! That is so sweet! I think that bob will be keeping me busy for a couple of months though...because I am still on session one, month 4 and I haven't even touched 5 yet...WTG on the watp tape! Wow, remember when you didn't think youcould do the 4 mile tape! Gosh, you are doing so well!

Ok, my exercise for the day was 45 min on the treadmill. I did not get a chance to get anymore than 20 in yesterday, so that leaves me with 55min left to go for the week! Yeah! It is going to be a busy weekend, so I am going to try my best to get it all done between today and tomorrow. We will see! I will pop in later, if I walk somemore tonite!

Finally getting a chance to post today. Been a day of interruptions and not of the good kind (people giving me money etc. )

I got in the remainder of my cardio last night for a total of 95 minutes. This morning I got 70 minutes of step aerobics and traditional aerobics and only felt like passing out 75% of the time. I IS POOPED!! Tonight I need to do 20 minutes to get my 90 for the day and make my goal of 450 minutes for the week. I am really hoping to get it over with tonight so I can be DONE, but I do have my Trader Joe's trip after work so if I get home too late the 20 miutes may have to be on Saturday.

Renee - salad sounds nummy. I decided on making some Med salads next week to accompany my turkey burgers. Gonna add red pepper sauce, ff feta, artichokes and other veggies. Sorry bout Bob. :(

Nice exercise Jenn. Are the owies feeling better? I mean general owies , not any specific ones.

Kel, nice workouts for you as well. Hope you enjoy the new DVD.

Lywr - all kitty knows is that when I exercise, she doesn't get enough attention. She either pouts or darts around making a nuisance of herself. You got some good cardio it too! I think you ladies should up your challenge by 15 minutes a week. If you work out 5 days, that is only 3 minutes a day :)

Amy how nice to have a personal trainer. I'd like to do that some day, but I doubt I'd find one working at 4:30am

Mel I am sorry you are feeling poorly. Do what you can, but even if you cannot exercise at all you SSTILL can control your food. 'K? :D

And now I need to do a few things and try and sneak out of here early. Happy almost FRIDAY!!

also our gym is having this new contest for the month of april and the winner gets 10 free personal training sessions. I WILL WIN THIS TIME!! but for me to win i have to do 45 minutes of cardio AND 45 minutes of strength training everyday for the whole month!! i know with the encouragement i get here i can do this!

Amy, I was just rereading your post, and I have a question? Does the gym expect you to do 45 min cardio and 45 min strength training EVERY SINGLE DAYto win? Just curious. I know when I went to the gym, the trainer guy there said you should "rest" your muscles after strenght training for about a day, before you do it again...at any rate...a personal trainer would be the bomb! I hope you WIN! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Renee,
i wouldn't have to do the weight machines, some of the classes count as strength instead of cardio. my plan is to do machines on mon-wed-fri an dto do the pilates class on tues and thurs and tae kwon sculpt class on saturdays. i told my mom even if i didn't win the prize i would still win because with all that work i would have to look great!
also checking in my workout today was only 20 of walking and i plan to do my yoga tonight so that will be 40 minutes total. 25-40=more than 200!! i made goal and early too!!
talk again tomorrow...amy

Evening ladies!

Well, this afternoon I tackled the new TJ Cardio Party 3 that I got yesterday. This one is slightly longer - 50 minutes - and IMO, more fast paced. I *really* enjoyed it! I think I am at 201 minutes right now (have to check my spreadsheet at work ). I am also getting up early tomorrow to put in a 30 min Fat Blaster DVD because I won't get in any workouts while I have house guests Fri - Sun. My mom, aunt and cousin are staying Fri - Sat, and my dad is coming Fri - Sun. In the middle of the visit, I have a wake to attend Saturday and a baptism plus birthday party on Sunday. Oh, and Saturday night is my make-up St. Pat's dinner (last week was a snow cancelation, lol)

Sorry for the quick post but it is 8 pm and I am still not yet done with my to-do list. Off to clip all the kiddies nails, lol. Everyone is doing AWESOME. I am so glad you guys started this.

I think next week I will keep the 200 minute goal, but the following I may up it a bit, perhaps adding 10% additional at a time. I will NOT be able to do 450 a week like Linda though!!

Have a great night girls and keep up the great work!

Hi ladies! I can't believe it took so long to get here, but I didn't want to post until I had my exercise in for the day. Don't want to be the slacker! ;)

First off- Mel- mom2, my dear adopted mother- you have to take care of yourself first and foremost, so if you need a break, and to heal eyes, body, and mind- we'll be here. You're always going to be my "mom," whether you are posting or not. Love you lots- and hope things get better soon.

Ok. Did a 2 mile WATP w/ ab belt to get in some upper body work, and then did 10 miles on the bike in 35 minutes. 65 minutes total for tonight...This week's total is now...lemme scroll back...120 plus tonight's 65 minutes= 185 minutes. Wheee! Ok, doing good then. :) When I put the TV on, I'll do more upper body, since the 2 mile doesn't get a lot of arm work in. The scale is playing games with me this week, so I'm positive that with the switching up of the exercise, and our challenge goal, I'm going to see some difference come next Tues or Wed.

Kelly- great going! Sounds like you have a really good rotation of workouts going there. And 3 years of maintaining +/- 10 pounds is quite an accomplishment. Bravo! :)

LwyrChick- that resort and stone massage sounds like just the perfect reward. :) And yes, the kicked up exercise keeps the muscles buzzing- last night I tried to go to sleep at 9pm, as I was totally exhausted, and laid there until 9:40 willing my body to just STOP already, and go to sleep!

Amy- You're back on track today, which is the most important thing. 1 night of indulgence isn't going to kill us...it just can't be every night. We're human, and we're not always going to do the smart, sensible thing. Occasionally, we're going to fall into the ice cream, or cookies, or bagels (mmm bagels). That sounds like a really interesting challenge at yor gym. I hope you win- that's definitely a great prize!

Renee- who would believe that just 3 months ago, 15 minutes was a lot to ask for me to do. But with you and Linda here as wonderful examples, dealing with Bob, I kinda had no choice but to get with the program, and get things moving. And now- well, let's not tell Linda, but it feels good to be moving, and active. Shhhh, we didn't say that. La, la la la la,....nothing to read here...just keep skimming, Linda.

Hi Linda! LOL. 450 minutes. Dang. I think my legs just collapsed under me THINKING about that. I've come up with some unique solutions, like a big bath towel folded up to make a pad for the bike seat. With all this fat on my butt, you'd think that just a little would have been in the right place to give me some cushioning and comfort? Noooo. But it seems that once I get through the first 15 minutes, the endorphines kick in, and then I don't feel anything until it is time to try and get OFF the bike.

All right- I think I've earned some down time, so I'm taking my weights and resistance bands, and I'm going to find something mindless to watch while I get the upper body work done. Tomorrow is Friday- we made it through another week, ladies. :) Have a great night!

Good evening ladies. Just wanted to do a quick post and update my exercise for the day. I went to the gym after work and got in 45 mins of cardio and then 30 mins of weight training. That puts me at 225 mins of cardio for the week and 60 mins of weights for the week so far which is 285 minutes of exercise this week! :carrot: That's really exactly what I feel like (the carrot)! ...and that's not including the dog walks or the massive closet switchover I just did from sweaters and tweed pants to skirts and summer dresses. No sweat involved in those activities though, so I guess they don't count.

Anyway, GREAT job on all the wonderful exercise ladies - we are all kicking some serious arse here! :D I think this is just what I needed before summer started.

My body is really tired tho - I'm going to go tomorrow after work but I think I'll take Saturday and Sunday off. I need a break. :faint: I just hope that taking time off from the gym won't lead me into temptation. Seriously, I plan to indulge this weekend as always - just not to the extent I usually do. MODERATION!

See you tomorrow ladies!! Much Love.

PS - Renee, my DH is doing an internal medicine residency and wants to do a fellowship in either cardiology or GI when he's done. :)

Where are all the forum ladies? Everyone is MIA today! I'm posting for accountability's sake. I went to the gym after work as planned and did 45 mins of cardio. :D NOW, my weekend begins...:carrot:

I was planning to take the weekend entirely off, but DH didn't get a chance to go to the gym much during the week and he wants to go in tomorrow SO I guess I'll join him :o - altho I think I'll stick to weights and no cardio. I'M POOPED! This body needs a break if its going to last for 3 more weeks for this challenge.

Alright ladies - time to par-tay. Indian food for dinner at home tonight - I got samosas and DH and I are making spicy turkey kababs for appetizers too. Then later we have a reservation at 11pm at a lounge bar by the water for after dinner drinks and dessert. Good stuff.

Have a great weekend gals. Much Love.

Lwyr, it seems the posting trickles down here on Friday, is pretty much non existent over the weekend and then people come back on Monday. They know they had BETTER not be staying away cuz they are having a binge fest and not exercising  You are going OUT at 11pm? Holey jeepers!! I'll be sawing logs long before that... i got very busy on friday night and so i didn't get a chance to post. my exercise for friday was 15 elliptical, 15 trreadmill and 45 minutes tae kwon sculpt class. it was my first time and i absolutely loved it! i really like the instructor, she used to weigh 350 and has maintained her weight (150) for a couple of years now. i have read articles and watched tv shows about women like her, i just have never met anyone like that in real life. she is AWESOME!! i get to take the class at my own speed. if i only get in 3 or 4 different kicks that's ok. in between sets we have to do 50 crunches. yes you read that right five-o crunches. by the time class ended i had done 300 yesterday!
i did get in more than 200 minutes so next week i am going to aim for 300 minutes. who knows by the end of the challange i may have worked up to Linda's speed.
by the way Linda, i don't really have a personal trainer. i just work with them so they give me lots of free advice.
in order to train for the competition i am going to do a 45 minute home workout tonight. i was going to the tae kwon class again this morning but my schedule just wouldn't let me. hopefully next weekend. well Nolan is demanding some attention so i guess i better go get him.hope everyone has a good weekend and Monday morning starts on a good note....amy

Sorry I was MIA yesterday...but was just too busy to get here. I made it over to the journals, but for some reason the forum pages take so loooonnnggg to load on my computer, I just didn't have time to sit and wait. One of these days we will be forced to get a high speed cable connection, and currently dsl is not available for me...so I have to just deal with the slowness of dial up. I have said it before, I just can't justify paying $50 for cable tv and $50 for high speed internet. They do have a 6th month special going on right now, but I am afraid that once I get it, there will be no going back for me, and then when the 6mos is up, BAM! Back up to $50! Plus, I just got notification that my mortgage payment is going up by $50 for the next year, because of taxes! Geesh! Gotta be more careful to what I vote YES for at election time! LOL

OK, as I said before, yesterday was really busy. Dropped dd off at the dentist, got ds#2 dinner, packed all his overnight things and got him on the bus for the field trip. Then took ds #1 to get something to eat (ds#2 needed to eat at 4:30, because I needed to get him to the school by 5:15pm) By the time I got home, I was pooped! I did do my 40 minutes in the morning--leaving me with 15 to get done today or tomorrow. It will be tomorrow.

The scale gawds were not shining upon me this morning...the scale remains in the same place. Truthfully, I am not a bit surprised because food for the week was not all that great. Too many trangressions for weight loss...gotta get a handle on that!

Amy, you are doing great. That is so inpirational about the instructor loosing litterally half of her former self. It makes us realize that it really IS possible. WTG on all the exercise! And I am glad the contest allows for some muscle recouperation!

Linda, you so derserve that day of rest this week, especially. Enjoy! I am gong to try to get here on the weekends...but I can't stand it when dh is looking over my shoulder...he is such a darn busy body....can you tell I am in a dislikemyhusband phase right now? LOL

Lwyr, I have never had Indian food, but I am thinking I would like it! I watched a few minutes of Rachel Ray this morning and she was cooking an Indian feast...I thought of you! I am afraid that I am with Linda on the "past my bedtime" thing...I would be yawning too much to enjoy myself! LOL Enjoy your wonderful youth! LOL That sounds like a good plan for dh and his future...future heart surgeon, perhaps?

Jenn, what can I say? You are continuing to do so well. I have got my eye on that tracker....I hope it moves for you next post! :)

Kelly, great job on the exercise too! Wow all of you girls are doing so well. I am so happy and inspired! Have fun with the house guests this weekend! LOL about the nail clipping...ya, I still do that too...I often wonder at what age you tell them to just do it themselves! LOL A mother's work is never done!

Ok. gonna get going. Waiting on dh to return from work and bring dinner home. Chinese, but no worries. Just the usual steamed shrimp and veggies for me with a hit of soy sauce...and maybe one steamed dumpling.

Hopefully, I will get a few moments to sneak back on tomorrow!

Hello friends!

Sorry I was missing for the past couple of days...just super busy! Last week I was short 15 minutes for the 200 min challenge...but hey, 175 minutes is STILL better than what I was getting before the challenge...so with that said, I am aiming for the 200 this week!

Started off today with 45 min. 155 to go for the week!

Gotta get to the store, so I will pop in later tonite. Hope all the rest of you are enjoying the day!

Ok, we've had VERY few posts the past two days. I know the novelty of the first week and a brand new challenge is wearing off and you are thinking " Oh ****, I have to do it AGAIN this week?" Yes you do. Exercise is something you need to do regulary for the rest of your life and this won't stop. Not once you get to goal weight or the perfect pants size or get the perfect medical tests. Exercise is how you will help maintain your loss in the future so you need to get use to this and accept this!

With that nag :drill: done, I got in my 93 minutes of Sunday, 94 yesterday and so far today I have 70 with 20+ more waiting for me when I get home.

Renee, glad you popped in. Glad you got in your 45. Keep it up.

Everyone else.. where ARE YOU???

But, of course, LINDAT found me. :club:

I'm here, just didn't go to the gym yesterday because I got too lazy at home and frankly, was worn out from the weekend. I'm also expecting TOM tomorrow or Thursday and that makes for an achy back, sore boobs (sorry, TMI I know), and tired body overall. :stress:

OK, excuses done - I'm going to the gym tonight and aiming to get in 30-45 mins of cardio. :ebike: I KNOW I'll feel great if I go, just gotta drag myself there. I've been eating well though (since Monday ) and getting in lots of fruits and veggies - everything from cantaloupe and raspberries to squash and broccoli.

Much Love.

first off:
Renee-you are doing GREAT! I know this week you will hit 200!
Lwr- i have recently discovered that if i at least do cardio during TOM that my symptoms all but go away. The hard part is just going to the gym and getting on the machines.

So i have decided to just count cardio for my challenge and i have upped mine to 300.
so far this week i have 300-65=235. that was yesterday's tally and i plan on an additional 35 minutes for today. That will leave me at 200 for the rest of the week.
i'll come back and adapt my count if i do more.

oh yeah i forgot to tell everyone...along with the 10 free training sessions the winner also gets $100 gift cert to the MALL!!!
i know i can win this!!

Linda is so right, as usual. LOL Is that the prod I see in her hands? Oh no! LOL Yes, we have just got to try to make the time for this, no matter what...

I concur with Amy lwyrchick, I always think I would just feel better if I veg with TOM symptoms (and don't get me wrong, i often do) but even just a little cardio (not all out kill yourself stuff) seems to help with cramps. It is just hard sometimes to actually convince yourself you will feel better after you do it.

Woohoo! A mall certificate! Amy, you are so gonna win this! I know it! $100 would buy an awesome new pair of shoes to workout in! :)

Ok, food today ended up good. I am done for the day there. I didn't get all the screens in my windows like I planned, but I got 2 rooms done--washed windows and all. I have got three to go. Finished all the kids laundry today too. Got to the store, as planned. Less busy today and I was liking it! A new grocery type store opened across the street today, and I think it drew away alot of business. You won't see me at the new store for a couple of weeks--did I mention how much I HATE crowded stores, actually crowds in general? :) I picked up a most delicious treat for only 1 point today. Cozy Shack sugar free rice pudding. Grated a bit of nutmeg on top. Very good. Nutritionally sound. Nothing artificial like. Sweetened with splenda. That was snack today. Anyway, I hear the boys coming in for the night, and I'd better get them going on homework and pack the lunches for tomorrow!

Take care all!

I'm here, I'm here!!! Whew. Thankfully, it was overcast tonight, so we didn't work out in the yard. Can I tell you, I think I'd be able to work in a nursery, or at least a farm if something happened and my current job dried up. Hubby sure knows how to keep me involved. And thanks to all the exercise I've been doing the last 3 months, I've been able to do so much more, and get a lot accomplished. 209 feet of back property line- Pulled weeds, vines, and graded the uneven rocky "fill" that had been pushed, and left, around the perimeter. And we planted 2 more large citrus trees, and put 3 smaller ones into decorative pots for the back patio, until they get bigger and we can put them into the ground. You don't realize how big an acre is until you schlep it 4 or 500 times in a weekend. And the mild stiffness is gone. Linda's got me conned- this exercise stuff really does keep you primed and ready for almost anything.

Ok, so with that said, I can't accurately account for any of the time spent doing that. I'm positive I did more than the 200 minutes, and digging and using a pick-axe on the ground is a lot more cardio intense than my walking, so I'm calling last week a success. Any complaints? :p Good. ;) So this week, I am making sure I have my 200 minutes in before anything else we do over the weekend. To wit: Tonight- 50 minutes- 2 miles WATP w/ ab belt, and 21 minutes on the bike, for 6 miles. Then, I did 10 minutes of stretching / cooldown with Carmen Electra (that's a story for another post!) and 15 minutes of arms / chest work with 5 pound hand weights. And now, dinnertime, and no yard work tonight! Wheee!

Amy- You can totally win the 10 sessions, and then that 100 is just bonus! :) Think of the smaller clothes that you can buy! :)

Renee- 175 is awesome compared to what you were doing before that. Look at the difference! That's awesome. :D

Linda- Nag away! We know it's just cause you love us so much! ;)

LwyrChick- hope your symptoms go away soon- the boob pain is the worst, because no matter how you move, it brushes things the wrong way, and owwie. But other than the first day, I've found that the bike works around the whole "situation" well.

Ok ladies- hope everyone is on their way to another 200 minutes this week, and Linda with her 8 hours. ;) Boss is out of the office for the next 3 days, so I might actually get some free time to come in and check on things.

Oh- and I checked out the blogs- looks cool. So I'll also try to mess with that, and change my link since I haven't posted in the journals in about 6 forevers.

Thanks for the push/advice Amy, Renee, Linda and Jennifer! :kickbutt:

DH and I went to the gym tonight, despite the TOM achies, and I got in 60 mins of cardio on the elliptical and 30 mins of weights. I felt SO great after I got back! WOOHOO, here I go - gonna make that 200 min challenge again, I can feel it.

Renee, I LOVE the kozy shack rice pudding. It's a great low calorie snack and tastes delicious. I alternate between that, the vita-brownies with ff cool whip, and light ice cream as after dinner desserts. I'm constantly looking for stuff like that - satisfies my sweet tooth but doesn't do too much damage on the waist line. ;)

Ok, I'm in desperate need of some :dust: to stay away from snacking during the day ladies, so send it my way! Have a great night and I look forward to checking in tomorrow with a similar report! Much Love.

I think I might have broken through my plateau- good news this morning on the scale, and if tomorrow confirms, I'm going to happily accept the "shaking things up" made a difference, take my loss for the month, and look forward to April. April- can you believe it is almost April??? Wasn't it just new years?

Happy Wednesday girls! :)

There is a chill in the air here today, after three gorgeous days of 70's. But my daffodils have little yellow heads on them--hurray for that!

45 min of exercise today...not all cardio, but I am thinking I am going to count it anyhow...so that makes 200 - 90 = 110 min to go! The scale may not be showing any loss, but my jeans today feel looser...hmmm...maybe I should measure. I don't. I like them being looser, but still, nothing beats the drop in lbs on that scale. I know it isn't the end all indicator of success, but it sure feels nice to see the numbers go down.

I have to go to ds's band concert tonite. Yuck. Oh well. Here is the really bad news about that....I had golean crunch for breakfast, and then wasn't thinking (and I was planning on a lc, but changed my mind) had a ww pita (9 grams of fiber per) with turkey for lunch. My tummy is already starting to talk to me....it might be a longer night than I had anticipated! LOL

I have been dabbling (as many of you also have) in the blogs. It is kinda growing on me. I finally figured out how to get links to my own pages on the top.

Jenn, I am so anxious to see that tracker move again. I know this will be the week! fingers crossed for good things!

Lwyr, will power sent your way for the day. I know the anticipation of TOM is making you crazy. Wonderful to be a woman, isn't it? LOL

Boy, we started out this challenge with so many new faces, and so many are mia....hmmm....the real challenge may be to see who is still here at the end of it! LOL Hope everyone is just too busy working out to get here!

Luv to you all! ;)

Good evening gals! I'm sitting at my computer enjoying an after-workout snack of an apple and lemonade. It's especially rewarding that I went to the gym and got in 60 mins of cardio tonight because after work I drove straight to the gym, found parking, then went to my trunk to take out my gym bag...and that's right, NO gym bag. I left it at home. :(

I seriously considered just saying "screw it...that's a sign" BUT I know I won't be able to go tomorrow because of that happy hour/dinner so I made myself go home, change, and go back. I feel GREAT now that I went! That makes 120 mins this week (150 if I include weights). I'll go again on Friday to the gym and once over the weekend to make my 200 mins of cardio for the challenge.

Anyway, great job on the exercise everyone! Just wanted to pop in and post quickly. I've done about 5 loads of laundry over the past 2 days - time to fold it all and put it away, BLECH. :dizzy: See you guys tomorrow!! Much Loooooove.

A MALE engineer here has gotten on my last nerve so I thought I had better post before I went over to his office and beat him with my purse. Arggh. I mean, do they sit home at night practicing doing moronic stuff or what???

Anyway, Exercise this morning was 70 minutes. I'll be getting in 23 when I get home to get 460 minutes or 8 hours for the week. TOM is here so I am blown up like a balloon and retaining a lake.. slosh slosh.

Nice to see a few of you posting. Jenn and Amy.. good workouts today.

Yes, yes, I did get some good exercise in today! LOL at Linda and her personals! Geesh, with the new blogs, the journals, and the forums--this site is beggining to turn into a full time job! LOL

Ok, seeing Linda, dressed as Santa beating the stupid male engineer with her purse....LOL Too funny to even imagine! LMAO Now that, Linda, I would pay money to see!

Exercise today was a whole hour of treadmill time...thank you very much! :) That brings my grand total up for the week to 145 minutes, I think. Leaving me with 55 min. to go. I think I can do that between tomorrow and Saturday. Basketball season is finally over for ds--yeah. More time for me! Maytag guy coming to fix my recalled dishwasher tomorrow, but he is not supposed to show until 1pm--plenty of time to get my minutes in for the day!

Amy, continued great job! Hope the bp is alright. Hey, isn't all this exercise supposed to help with that??

Jenn, wtg with your continued exercise. I keep watching for that tracker to move. I am afraid my chick has been stuck where she is at for so long she will soon be a hen! LOL

Linda, I am still amazed at the amount of exercise you have challenged yourself with these past couple of weeks.

Everyone else.....well, you heard Linda...front and center. (except you Lwyr, I ,too, know about the "happy hour"---hope you are happy! LOL :)

I have been dabbling in those blogs myself lately. I like alot of the features. Here is the link to my site. The name of my blog is Loosingmore...can't figure out how to make a link for you!

Evening! :) Ok...did 35 minutes of aerobics tonight, and 20 minutes of upper body weights while hanging out. And then funky white girl dancing around the house while playing my new favorite song. On repeat. About 6 times. Poor hubby, and poor cats. But hey, it's an aerobic activity! No, I'm not counting it, but it was fun. :D

95 + 35 from today = 130 for the week. Tomorrow night will be a long workout, since it isn't a school night, and I can eat first, and then exercise, since being up won't be an issue. Saturday I'll be getting a pretty early start, and heading about 4 hours north to Orlando, to meet up with a good friend coming down from Michigan. Breakfast and lunch will be packed, and I will leave 1000 calories so that no matter where we end up for dinner, I can make good choices, and not go off the deep end. I'll crash at Mom's house, which is about an hour away from that, spend the night there, and several hours on Sunday before heading back home. Busy weekend, but it will be worth it. And next weekend is middle nephew's 1st birthday, and Easter, so we will be doing a family day with hubby's clan. That means I've got to get my 200 minutes in before the weekend, and anything else I get in is a bonus.

Renee, you can look at my ticker again. LOL It took 9 long days for my body to catch on to the fact that food was perfect, water was increased, and exercise was- well, let's face it- super! Not "Linda-fricking-tastic" yet, but definitely enough that I should not have been playing scale mind games for that time. So, while muscle defined and fat shifted around waiting to be flung off...all the stars are back in alignment, and I am down 1.8 now, on day 10. I'll take it. 55.8 down now, and moving closer to this year's goal, and my halfway point, more or less.

Linda, what is it with men? There is something wrong with the dang Y chromosome, I know it. He's lucky you don't wear spiky heels...could have been messy if you whacked him with that. :D

Where is everyone else? C'mon...we're almost through week 2, and to the halfway point. Let's get sweaty!

Good early morning, not wuite 7 here. i am posting this morning to confess my sins. i didn't get any cardio in yesterday. by the time i left work i had a full blown migraine. sharp pain in head, nausea, fatigue. i am feeling much better this morning. i am gonna make up my time between the next couple of days.
i checked my bp and it was actually a little low. i think with all this extra exercise my body is having a hard time adjusting (bp wise) and all the fluctuation is what's causing the headaches. just a theory.
anyway i will be back this evening to report and check on everyone else.
have a great day!!amy

hey girls! I am posting early today too. I usually save the forums for last, but thought I would pop in early today for a change!

First off....WOO HOO FOR JENN! Man, I am so excited to see that tracker move for you!  Keep going, you will be where you want to be in no time! Wow, a nice weekend in Orlando--and you have got a wonderful plan to stay out of trouble on the diet front. My very favortie restaraunt of all time is in Orlando...can't remember the name, but it is an italian place in a strip mall of sorts by a lake (ya, that is about how ALL of Orlando is) If I think of it, I will try to find out the name...I am certain their meals have alot of calories! LOL So what is the new fav tune? LOL I can here you on repeating it over and over again...ok, I have one that I recently downloaded on my mp3 that I usually listen to a minimum of 4 times before I move on! LOL Timbaland, Nelly F, and JT. LOL

Amy, hope the migraine is better. Yes, you are right. The exercise could be altering the bp. Are you on meds for it? Please watch it closely so if you are on meds the doc can adjust them accordingly. Gosh, don't feel bad about needing the day off. My ds got a migraine yesterday too. I think it is the changable weather we have been having that brought his on...but I am not sure. Take care of yourself!

Got my 40 min in today. 30 tm, 10 strengthening. I am counting it all for the challenge, like I said. That leaves me with 15 min to go. I WILL make it this week. I promise.

Take care all you chickies! And enjoy Friday!

Morning Ladies! If you've read my journal entry already, you know the happy hour fiasco. SO I'm happy to report I got in 60 mins of cardio last night and 20 mins of weights - putting me at 180 mins of cardio so far for the week and 230 mins of combined exercise. WOOHOO! :carrot:

This challenge was truly just what I needed to get my booty back in shape and moving. I've been a slug since Christmas, but I can already feel my body starting to tone up and get definition. JUST in time for summer :D

If I could curb the weekend eating, I swear, I'd be perfect. Well maybe not perfect, but I'd be really happy all the same. DH and I have date night tonight, a picnic lunch tomorrow at the tidal basin for the cherry blossom festival, and dinner and pool with friends tomorrow night. Sunday isn't planned out, but I'm sure we'll do our weekly brunch then. I'll do my best to stay in check and not splurge...too much. ;)

Jenn, whenever DH and I go out to dance, I never worry too much about calories for dinner that night - all that moving and shaking for hours really does burn alot of calories :) Enjoy your trip to see your friend!

Amy, sorry to hear you are feeling down. Get better soon - rest up!

Renee, I'm telling ya - keeping up with journals and forum is alot for a busy chick to do - but its so worth it, because the support I get from you ladies is unlike anything else.

Linda, Good job on playing drill sargeant. Last night after we woke up from our nap - I was like weeeeell, we could do our own happy hour at home and order in food - but then (NO JOKE) I thought how proud I would be to report that I went to the gym - so we went. Whatever works, right?

Have a happy and safe wknd ladies, Much Love to all!

I'm pretty happy with my exercise for this week. 318 minutes.:carrot: So, I thought I'd have a little looksie over hear to see what everyone was talking about. I'll try this challenge!! 200 minutes should be doable. Do we count yoga and weights? If we do, then I know for sure I can get 200 in easy. Just really need some motivation to make that scale MOVE!! Hopefully I can remember how I got to this page!! Have a great weekend...Deidre

Morning or afternoon everyone. Lovely day today, isn't it? I am happy because my tired old bones are getting a day of rest... sigh!!

Welcome Deidre. :welcome: So glad to have you join us on the sweating thread. You make this challenge what ever you want it to be. I already was doing more than 200 minutes a week or exercise, so I made my own challenge to be 460 minutes a week.. a little more than 90 minutes average a day. You make the challenge what you need it to be.. to improve your health!

Lwyr, have a fun time this weekend and enjoy the sunshine. maybe a hike might be in order to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors, huh? It dones' always matter what motivates us to exercise because that can change on a daily basis. The important thing is you did it!

Renee, nice exercise. You just tell youself tomorrow is that if you don't do that 15 minutes, Linda will be on you like a bad rash. :drill:

Amy, hope you feel better today. My father used to get migraines so I remember how bad it was for him. I know they can be brought on by so many things. Just watch yourself!

Jenn - I cannot tell you how good it is to have you back. You went through a long patch with that house that you didn't take care of you. I was worried about you. Yes that Y chomosome in some cases causes rampant stupidity, it seems.

Ok, next week starts a tough week 3. You are apt to be tired and cranky and probably pissed off at me for whatever reason about the exercise. This will be the toughest week of the four week challenge for most of us, so buckle down, remember to breath and don't send a hit man out to whack me, 'k?

So happy right now, though. My mother is taking the girls for the weekend:dizzy: YaHoo!! So, the plan for tomorrow is for DH and I to get the studio all cleared out, and reorganized with his computers. Then, we're going to hang the punching bag back up and hopefully unfold the treadmill!! I'm worried cuz he's so stressed. Worried about a heart attack or stroke!! He's doesn't eat all that well...NO fruits and he likes even LESS veggies than I do!! And his exercise is walking down the stairs in the AM and up in the PM. Sits all day in front of the computer. Scares me. So this is a huge step:carrot:

Then...we're off on a date!! He said yes pretty fast. Think he knows he needs to de-stress...big time. So excited about that as well. Should turn out to be an awesome weekend!!

Just had to let someone know!!

LOL oh linda, we would NEVER send a hit man out to get you....who would work the prod when we need it??? LOL

DEIDRE -- WELCOME to the challenge! I am so glad you are joining us! Enjoy your kidless weekend. That is fantastic news about the gym equipment. Yes, our men, they just don't realize that they are getting older and need to do SOMETHING too! Even if they aren't overweight. Mine eats healthy, but supplements his diet with a **itload of crap, and doesn't exercise.... Hey, maybe there is a "snap" in your future!
