View Full Version : Operation Summer Wedding

So a bunch of us have some weddings to go to coming up in late spring and over the summer. Let's set some goals for them for motivation! I have 18 weigh-ins between now and the wedding I am going to on July 7th (yes, yes, they did that on purpose 7/7/07) So my goal is going to be 24 pounds, which would put me at 158.2 for the wedding. My weight-watchers goal is 162 and my personal goal is 150, so I'm glad this is somewhere in-between :)

I'll update/edit this post as time goes on so that you can see my progress!

February 26 - 182.2

7/7/07 is widely said to be the most popular wedding date in recorded history. Lots of people are picking it for the "lucky jackpot" implications.

My own wedding is April 21, but I'm not on WW - just had to drop in and point out that nearly everyone will have a wedding to attend on 7/7/07

I'm in! I have a wedding to attend (and I'm a BM) in September.

I have goals of 2 pounds per week, but only computer through the beginning of August, which is still a total loss of 73 pounds. Right now, I'm at 35 pounds down, so almost half way there at another 38 pounds to go.

I have a wedding to attend on July 28th (MY OWN LOL!) and my goal is to be at 200 at that point...so only 54 lbs to go!

03-09-2007, 04:41 PM
summer - I'm here to cheer you on! You can do it! I hope to be around 200 (love to be way lower though!) before the wedding I have to attend (that I'm a BM in) before September.

KO - 8 pounds, you can do it! That sounds like 2 pounds per week - totally attainable. :) You've done great so far, based upon your ticker. :)

Exercise is an important component for me - what is everyone else doing for exercise?

03-15-2007, 10:08 AM
The treadmill still hasn't come GRRRRR
I'm doing yoga and physical therapy and Arm bike Tonight is yoga night I'm putting myself on a schedule!
hey should we have a goal for everyones events that way its harder to slack off!

03-15-2007, 10:13 AM
KO - I tend to use the elliptical (but my husband has cluttered that room with parts and pieces of things he's working on and I have to move everything to just get to it) or WATP videos. I really need to get more focused on exercise again though, I've sort of let it fall by the wayside.

I am in... Many apologies for being late... I have just been eating badly so I have been in hiding:(

Anyway, I am a size 14 right now so my goal would be to be a size 10/12 by June 30th which is my friend's wedding!

03-21-2007, 10:07 AM
sweatergirl - that seems doable to me, good luck! :)

Down another 2 pounds this week for a total of 44 pounds. If I keep this up, I'll be well past the 78 pounds down by August that I want. :)

Hi, this is my first posting. My hope is to actually have a wedding. I originally had a date set for 2006. I was losing weight and feeling good and then I lost it and started gaining and couldn't quit. I am 35 and this is my first wedding and I didn't want to be fat on that day. Let's face it, the entire day is focused on how "pretty" you look. I couldn't bear the thought of people telling me how great I looked when I was at least 86 lbs overweight and feeling like crap. :( The big day began to feel like a death sentence rather than the happiest day of my life. Luckily, I have a very understanding fiance who told me he would wait forever for me. He just wanted me to feel wonderful on that day. I'm posting here hoping for support and understanding of what it feels like to dread that day b/c of weight. I get plenty of "Oh, but you're beautiful any way", or " that's not what's important" from skinny people that just don't understand. I hope someone here knows what I mean. So many times in my life have been overshadowed by fat, I just don't want this to be one of them. And I don't want any more people trying to say the perfect thing to make me believe that it doesn't matter, because it does to me. Having whined enough, I hope to lose 63 lbs by Dec 1, when I'm considering setting the date. I'll figure out how to do the cute charts soon I hope. Good luck to all of you!

03-23-2007, 06:11 AM
hope4me - wow, I'm sorry that your weight issues are such that they are keeping you from getting married! I was an overweight (okay, okay, obese) bride. I was beautiful (if I do say so myself) that day. There's something about a wedding day that brings out a glow and happiness. Sure, did I want to lose weight? Of course. But, in the end, my wanting to marry my love overshadowed the fact that I was that fat bride. I hope you're able to lose the weight this time. You can do it, it won't always be easy, but it's doable. Good luck to you. :)

jennylou: Thanks for your encouragement. I know that post-poning a wedding may sound extreme to some, but my guy and I live together, and as I said, this is my first wedding at 35. I feel like we are already married and the actual day should just be a happy celebration and I kind of have the luxury of waiting till it can be as perfect as possible. It's not like I'm 20 and still in my parents house under their rules and we can't be together. I've waited longer than most to make this decision and I want to actually enjoy the day. Right now with my build I do not even own a dress and I definitely don't wear white. The thought of a big white dress makes me feel as conspicuous as getting caught naked on a high school football field on Friday night. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know, but I'm sure there are others who feel the same. Sounds like you are doing great on your goal for September. Good luck and I hope to be attending my own wedding this year as well.

modkitten - IMO, people should go to weddings, whether or not they agree with the marriage. People go to support friends and family, and sometimes, even when you know the marriage is doomed, you still have to put a smile on your face and go. If the marriage is sucessful and you don't go, that may put a wedge in your relationship. Even if it isn't, they may feel like you weren't being a good friend by going.

04-11-2007, 12:49 AM
Lori it all comes down to how close you are/want to be with the member of the relationship you are close to/related too.

04-11-2007, 09:33 AM
It is not a relative, but a former co-worker of mine. Money is a big issue with going to the wedding as well (as I don't really have any). I still have a couple of weeks to decide.

04-25-2007, 09:04 AM
So.... How are all you gals doing?! I'm on my way to be the size I want by the beginning of July :) I think I will be going to the wedding, but I will only make it for the reception which kind of sucks. I can't take that Friday off of work in order to drive up there and spend Friday night up there and attend the ceremony at 10am Saturday morning. The reception doesn't start until 6 (I know, BIG gap isn't it?!) Sat night so I am going to go up there just for the night. Another co-worker of mine is going and he and I are going to go up there together since my DH can't make it and his DW can't make it. What's funny is that we are really good friends, so my DH and his DW don't care that we go up together and split a room in order to keep our costs down. Thats really good for me because I don't really have the money to spend on going at all to begin with! But I decided that I should. I really wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't. So.... here's to losing those 15 pounds between now and then! I know I can do it!!!

04-25-2007, 11:25 AM
Hey Lori
I have 31 days until my cousins wedding I'm going to put a new goal in my sig to lose 5 by then and our anniversary is 7/4/07 so I want to lose 15 by then! Day 2 OP doing well. . .One thing I'm digging about points is theres no real off plan food its just workign it to the program!
back to work!

05-09-2007, 10:25 AM
Kier - You can do it! That definitely sounds like a goal you should be able to reach by the beginning of July.

I decided not to go to the wedding. The only reason for that decision though was money. I have to go to Portland in September to see a doctor (specialist) and I really need to save money for that. I figured out just how much going to the wedding would cost me and I just can't swing it on top of the September trip and electric and plumbing work that NEEDS to get done in my house. But I still want to reach a goal by the middle of July so here it is.... 162 pounds by July 16th! How's that :) It means I will be at my Weight Watcher goal of 162 (personal goal is lower - 145-150) and it means that I will have a healthy BMI.

I added a ticker for that to my signature!

07-14-2007, 12:45 PM
Wow so long since my last post. How are all you gals doing?! If I had been able to make it to the wedding I was invited to last weekend, I would have been wearing a size 10 dress... comfortably! :) I started off in a 16W/18. Can't wait for the single digits!

07-17-2007, 08:08 PM
Mod...it's been a long time since I posted as well. I'm down to 11 days before the wedding and having a bridezilla moment. My mom is so determined for my aunt, uncle, and cousins back in GA (her biological family) to come up for the wedding. Never mind that my mom can't afford it. It's a minimum of 2 grand for one way tickets up here. Plus they can't afford it either. So I'm at the point of "if they're here good..if not, then they'll get pictures!" But she doesn't understand that. HELPPPPPPPP! LOL

07-17-2007, 10:21 PM
Mama - Good luck with the big day! I had SUCH a small wedding (literally a BBQ in my parents' back yard) that it wasn't a big deal if people couldn't make it, and they knew it. Just keep telling your mom how you feel, and if she insists and buys the tickets anyway you can't blame yourself!!!
