Happy March everyone!! My March commitment is going to be to exercise. I've got to start tightening everything up. Wanna look hot in that tankini I'd love to be buying in a couple of months! Nothing much going on today except that TOM is here, and I'm majorly craving chocolate. Hopefully, my bars will be enough today.

I've actually managed to post in the correct month! What can I say, I'm a slow learner!

Still haven't caught up on all the posts - I'm not even going to try - it was like 30 pages - that's my punishment for going away for 2 weeks.

Scale is up 10 pounds - eeks. However, it is almost TOM, and once I start eating right again I think a large chunk will come off, so no freaking out. Starting TO tomorrow, since there is absolutely no food in the house at the moment I couldn't start today. I'm a week late for the 6 week challenge, so I will just set my next goal for Easter (my own 5 week challenge???)

I was also thinking of doing a Couch to 5k. Before we left for the trip I was really getting into the treadmill. I figure that doing a C25K will motivate me to tread again.

Anyway, I feel like a don't know what's going on with all of you - I'm SO out of the loop! I missed you all - I did see that Joni and Katie had good trips, that Kristen hit a major milestone (You GO you skinny Canuck!), Cassi's root canal went OK, Evette's gonna rock the big apple, And my bud Nicole waited on her weight loss until I got back. Everyone else - I'll get to you, promise!

Jason -
Well, today would be the best time for me to get a weigh in...according to my home scales, I lost 4lbs since yesterday. There's a reason for it though...I got sick! Yup, comin' out of both ends...lol...and a fever to boot! I'm definately realizing how much of a wimp I am...my 2 yr old boy would puke and run...me, I'm totally out of commission. I'm convinced I'm dying...my wife (a nurse) thinks otherwize. She thinks I'm a big baby...she even got the little guy poking fun at me! There has to be at least one sypathetic woman out there!

Sorry you don't feel well - but I'm siding with the nurse. You'll probably live!

I'm actually not too bad this morning...the worst of it was yesterday evening. Other than a few aches and pains, a bit of dehydration and lack of appetite, this day off isn't too bad. I have the house to myself (wife working and kid at daycare) and a stack of movies to watch. Just finished "The Marine"...still have "The Prestige", "School for Scoundrals", "Flags of our Fathers" and "Babel" left...

We've got The Marine and Flags of our Fathers sitting at home to be watched as well. How funny! On a military note, we took the kids to a meeting of the Young Marines this past Tuesday, and they are PSYCHED to join next week. There's a 15 yr old girl there who's made it to the rank of Master Sergeant and my daughter is convinced that's going to be HER in a few years. The Young Marines, for those who've not heard of them, is the USMC's effort toward a youth organization that's anti-drug and also teaches kids discipline, patriotism, Marines history, emphasizes fitness, etc. My S/O was in the Corps in the late 90's, and he's just eating this up. :)

Hey! Happy March everyone! A new month, a new commitment to post each day! (Where have I said THAT before???)

Nothing much has changed here - took 2 weeks and went to Disneyland with DH and the kiddos. This is a perfect time of year to go.

Hockey is still going strong - although DD is almost done. DS has a tournament this weekend, DD has a final tournament next weekend, and the DS has his state tournament the weekend after. A couple weeks off for him (probably consumed by baseball...) then he's off to try out for a AAA (read that REALLY COMPETETIVE) spring hockey team.

DH is working on getting approved for a transfer, so there's THAT to deal with too.

I'm hoping everyone is doing well - and I promise to stay more in touch. You can see, that although I haven't checked in for some weeks, my ticker hasn't budged. I only have a couple of WL weeks left. Sigh....

Hey gang..

Well, despite the 40 mph sustained winds, I made it back from Portales in relatively one piece..

It was a good trip, but now I too, am feeling crappy.. Mostly a combination of being out in the elements during the fire last weekend, and then in Portales this week, combined with allergies.. Yuck!!

Also happy to say that the trip didn't really add anything to the scales for me, but I'll probably know better on Saturday..

Jason.. Hope you're feeling better through the day..

Nice to see you Lori!

Have a POP day, all!

Real quick check in....a friend just called and has an extra tix for the Billy Joel concert that is in town tonight (free for me, except I'll buy her a drink and pay for parking!!). Weather is awful here, but I'm going. That man puts on a good show.

Kim - I gained 5 from a one week vacation, so 10 lbs from a two week vacation sounds about right. I did TO Tuesday and Wednesday and my home scale was down 4 lbs. Like I've said, getting back on the program is the best thing to do.

Lori - so good to see you. Cannot believe you did 2 weeks in Disneyland. Is there anything you missed while there???

Jason - just about every guy I've ever been with is a total wimp when they are sick. I don't mind them being wimpy; just don't be over demanding. Save that for when you REALLY need help! Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy your flicks.

Evette - you lost anothe pound....dang you!

I made it back to the gym today. gotta update the exercise ticker.

Later..............

When I lived in Portales, we used to say that "Arizona blows and Texas sucks".. No offense...

The winds yesterday were outrageous.. Picture me hunkered down by my car, trying to shield myself from the wind while I filled up at the gas station.. They must have been 40 mph sustained..

Where are you in TX?

Hi everyone!

Wendy – I’m with you, exercise is definitely where I have been messing up lately. I’ve got to get back to it. :woops:

Kim – I usually travel once a month for work. I’ve noticed that every time I travel, especially flying, my scale shows extra lbs for several days. Your vacation gain is probably not as bad as you think. ;)

Jason – Poor baby…I’m glad you’re feeling better. I love those days home alone too. :getwell:

Lori – I remember the days of kid sports consuming me. For us it was travel team soccer and baseball. I kind of miss it, but not the bleacher butt. :o

Dan – Glad you got back safely.

My biggest challenge so far is coming up this weekend. We are having a cookout for my DS’s 18th birthday. So, on top of the stress of getting my house ready for 30+ people, I have to prepare foods way off plan and deal with the fact that my baby is 18!!! I’m going to need a ton of :dust: .

Afternoon all.
I'm a bit of an airhead today after tending to the babe all week. I thought it was about 11:00 in the morning and it's almost 1:00! Well having a sick child must be good for the waist as even though I've managed to get all my food in I'm down 2.4 from last Friday.. I'll take it! I was flitting around the same numbers for two weeks and getting sick of my sclae!
We took Jaimie to the doc yesterday as she still wouldn't eat and threw up and kept those nasty diapers full and we were worried about her getting dehydrated. Doc said she has a rotovirus which is another way of saying a 2-3 week in duration severe flu bug. 1/40 kids have to go to hospital for IV to replenish fluids but so far today we've been able to get some juice in her and Nana has taken her for a short spell so I can catch my breath.
We are waiting fo rwhat was promised to be a major ice storm on our way and I hope that makes for the end of snow as we just had another storm this past Monday.
Kim and Joni so glad you are back and Lori super to see you too. Let's see how many names I can remember in this sleep deprived state...
Hello to Kims, Wendys, Angie, Libby, Jillian, SHEA, Ulanda, my darlin Barb, Megan, Roosters Michael, Dan and Feel better soon Jason, Cassi, sweet Mama Nicole, MIA Pearl, Lea Ann, Sara, Liz, Paula, all our newbies and if I forgot you I've been cleaning up poop from a sick child all week so have lost many vital brain cells which will be restored shortly!

Good Morning Friends! :D

Just got back from the COD (I drrraaaggggedd myself in there). Only to find out that I gained. (No surprise there). After my TO is done tomorrow, I'm on to an all-food plan. They moved me to Red to compensate for the lights. In 8 pounds, I'll be back to purple, but for now I'll bask in the extra starch!!

Wow, Lori - Disneyland DOES sound great! Nice to meet another crazy busy hockey Mom. (Isn't it just THE Best!?)

Jason, Hope a day of R&R has you feeling much better!

Katie - LOL about the small bum comment... I love it :) I also love your new pic!

Katiebug - Nice to see you - you must be getting excited about your wedding!

Kim - I am soooooo jealous of your Jamaica trip. I bet it was worth every pound. (You and I can do our modified 5 week challenge together) i like your C25K idea.
I would love to be able to exercise more. (well exercise at all, really) I do have renewed hope, though, because I went to my specialist and got a new Rx, that I'm hoping will help in the whole pain management department. I've been trying to make myself go for a walk around the block each day, but I haven't been too successful so far. I really do need to be going to the pool, but that idea doesn't really thrill me. Although, I did finally break down and buy a bathing suit. Just haven't put it to use yet.

Paula - You DO have alot going on! You can do it, though! We're rootin for ya!

Kristen - I feel for you! Poor little girl. Glad you could get her to drink. You're a good momma

Well, I'm off to get ready for school. I'm working in the cafeteria at oldest DS's school today... wish me luck. (don't know whether I need luck for the kids eating me alive, or for not eating their food - I AM on TO..lol)

Hi guys - quick check in. They are predicting ice and snow tomorrow, and it's payday, so every SINGLE one of the teachers is coming in to ask if they can get their checks this afternoon. OK, don't they realize that I just got back yesterday, my assistant is on maternity leave, and most of all, I"M PMS-ing!!!!! GO AWAY! It is so not my call - go ask the damn superintendent! The PMS devil is sitting on my shoulder whispering to me - "If it's bad enough out to cancel school, how can you drive to the bank?" but that's just my inner voice. They'll get their checks.

OK, enough ranting.

Dan - glad to hear you made it through the wind and fire. WInd takes a lot out of you. No wonder you are beat.

Joni - Thanks for the encouragement. 10 lbs shocked me. I started the vaca really well, then I threw it all out the window. Suffice it to say, most of the weight gain is not food-related!

Paula - yeah, I think that the plane ride is part of it. My wedding rings feel like little tourniquets around my finger, they are so tight. I hope some of this bloat goes away soon. I hope you get nice weather for the birthday cookout!

Kristen - poor baby! (Jaimie and you!) I hope that she at least starts to feel a little better, and not have to go through another week of this! Get some rest, if you can.

Rhonda - I hope the new meds help you. I've contemplated joining our community pool, but when it's cold and yucky out, I don't think that I could get myself to go.

OK, checks are finally done printing - gotta go!

Wow I can't believe its March already. It seems like February went by in a flash. I also can't believe I've been on the program for a month already and I'm having great success just like I did my first time on LAWL. I took a peek at the scale again this morning and I was down another .2, making .8 so far this week. Tomorrow I'll weigh in for the 6 week challenge. I'm almost to that 10 lbs goal by St. Paddy's Day!

Must get back to work, I'm getting swamped here but I just wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone and have a little rant.

OHHHHH, JONI, I am soooo jealous!!!! Seeing Billy Joel in concert is on my "before I die, I will......" list. I love him. I grew up listening to his music.......and I just adore him. I think he is kind of a weirdo, but man, he can play and sing. You are so lucky......and that is a great concert to score for free.......I was going to go see him here in St. Louis, but didn't want to spring for the tickets........they are quite pricey.

Ok, now that I am over it (NOT), how is everyone today? I am very busy. I am trying to stop letting PBS raise my children, so we have had a very long day. I have to take 4 yo. DS to the doc tonight for a check up.....and then we have 9 yo. DD's book fair at her school.......so it will be a busy evening. And..........my house is trashed......and I still need to shower and stuff. Oh well..........what can you do. I have been POP so far today, so that is good. My sclae only went up 0.2 on the day afer TO, so I am pleased. Especially since I made some salty meatloaf last night. :)

K, have to try to find some new and exciting distractions for the twin house wreckers :)

Wow, busy,busy here today already.

Joni- Have a super time at the concert, I am jealous!

Jason- I hope you are feeling better and enjoying your movie day.

Kristen- I hope your your sake and baby Jamie's sake that flu doesn't last like that for that long.

Katie- On your post I read, may your bums get a little.... DH has been out of town all week, guess you know where my mind is.

Kim- That 10 lbs. will drop off in no time. Lemon water, lemon water.

Dan- Glad you made it back home safe. 40 mph winds are just a breeze up here in Montana. We can go for days with 60-70 mph winds. Enough to drive you crazy after a while.

Stephanie- Great job on the 13 lbs. You are doing awesome!

Today's WI netted me a 1.8 lb loss from Monday. I'm jazzed!
I'm off for the next 4 days and was going to paint the entryway, dining room and hallway, but with the cold snowy weather, I am just not in the mood for it yet, so I will putter around the house and catch up on my craft stuff and work on some projects for my beading class. I added a pic of what I am doing for Easter if you are intersted.

Deb.......I LOVE your Easter Eggs. I love beading. I have always enjoyed sewing and crocheting.......and this last year I played around with beading a bit..........what an addictive and expensive hobby. I stay out of the bead aisles everywhere.....and there must be about 20 bead stores in a 20 mile radius around me. It is terrible. I have kind of had to give up sewing, crocheting and beading for now............but I will pick it all up again in a few years when the house wrecking twins get a bit older. I always tease DH that I may never finish school because once the kids are all in school, I will be too busy with all of my hobbies I have been putting off for the last few years..LOL. Your beaded eggs are beautiful.

So, they dropped me down to Purple on yesterday and I am not sure if it's because of TOM or just the drop in general but I am feeling DEPRIVED! Someone please tell me I will adjust to losing my 1/2 P and 1S. Yikes!!!

Hi Gang!!

Just postin' quick before I go outside to shovel for some exercise tonight. I'm loving the snow (sorry Barb!!) :carrot: I'm debating what time our office should even open in the morning since it's supposed to snow like crazy all night. I sent everyone home at 3 today and then stayed by myself until 5. It was pretty peaceful to watch the snow without anyone in the office. Universal oneness even... :yoga:

Deb - those eggs are amazing.. how the heck do you do that??

Kristen - hope your troops are recovering.. and you too for that matter!

Nicole - I'm totally jealous over Joni's Billy tickets too.. I want to see him and Elton before I die.. or before they do. Crap, I'd better get busy.. those guys are getting old!! Are your homewreckers nicknamed "Destruct & Destroy" ? I had a brother and sister in my daycare, and that was their nicknames.. they were a 2-kid wrecking crew. They burnt me out on daycare.

Evette - You are definetly sweet -- but no reason to be shy, honey.. you're smokin' hot!! :flame:

Barb - did you start the new Gold 2 today?

Jason - hope you enjoyed your Movie & Poop day! :p

Kim - I have a sign outside my door at work that says "If you're asking for a favor, you'd better have chocolate"... and funny enough.. they all obey the sign! :chockiss:

Katie - Yes! Yes! A toast to smaller bums!!!

Hello to everyone else I didn't get too.. gotta get the shoveling done while baby is still doing his mid-evening nap.
G'nite!

Now I must go attend to my sick baby (one of my ferrets) she has suddenly lost a bunch of weight so she is going to be separated from her "sisters" and put into the solo cage for a day or so so we can keep an eye on her... and here I thought that I was lucky for not having kids to worry about!... turns out furkids are just as bad :dunno:

Going for WI tomorrow :crossed:

Well, luckily for me it turned out to be a "movie" day and not the latter! I did manage to watch "The Marine" (kind of dumb) and "Flags of our Fathers", but slept through "School of Scoundrals". Oh yeah, and I watched an episode of "Supernatural" that I had recorded...so, it was a good day. Hopefully, the lack of eating and passing of what was eaten will pay off on Saturday's weigh in! I have hockey Friday night, so that should help as well...

Mama Nicole
03-02-2007, 10:23 AM
I'm not very south...........but we did have tornados warnings here yesteday, and a 7 year old little girl died in one in southern Missouri. It was just a weird weird weather day yesterday. It was 67 degrees........and then dropped into the 30's. It rained.......then the sun was shining......then the winds were whipping all night. No damage here, thank goodness........but it was a bit nerve wracking. The strange thing about the tornado in the south here, was it hit at like 6:30 a.m. The weather man said tornados don't usually hit that early in the day.....and that is why they think this girl died..........no warning.......they must have been sleeping, and they lived in a trailor home. Isn't that horrible? Are all of our southern buddies ok?

And Joni........tell me about my boyfriend last night.
XOXO

Scale was good to me. Lost 4 of the 5 vacation pounds; 1 to go!
Billy Joel was FANTASTIC. I tried to talk my friend into searching Billy out at the hotel that most celebs stay at, but it was a rainy night and we both had to work today, so we came on home. Billy sang all his great songs and has quite the sense of humor. He played for at least 2 hours. No opening act, which was great. It was all Billy. I have to say, though, he and most of his band members, could use a dose of LAWL!! Billy is 57 years old now, and I know this weight loss game doesn't get any easier with age. He needs to take better care of himself.
I'm so busy at work.......gotta run.
Oh, Kim, I agree with Lea Ann -- direct deposit is the only way to go!

Good morning! It's beautiful here today, despite a strong storm system that came through last night. Thankfully, there were no tornadoes here. I'm pretty much over my cold (finally!), so maybe I can enjoy the weekend. I would love to have one weekend where we didn't have to run, BUT that's not to be once again. We're going to DH's parents tomorrow night to celebrate February birthdays..DH, two nieces, and SIL all have Feb. birthdays. We were supposed to celebrate last weekend, but everyone was sick. Then, Sunday morning we have Church, and Sunday afternoon, ODD is going to a birthday party at the bowling alley. AND, my house is a mess and laundry needs to be done, so I'll need to find time to take care of that this weekend as well. I need a vacation just to get everything in order!! Anyway, I have WI today, so wish me luck. I've been doing pretty well, so hopefully, the scale will be down. If not, that's okay 'cause I'm wearing some more of my "pre-pregnancy" pants that I've had packed away for 2 1/2 years.

Now, here's my LONG list of personals. I actually went through and read everything and typed out responses in a Word document. I know I won't be able to do this everyday, but at least I'm caught up for now!!

Kimphin – Glad you had a good trip. That vacation weight will come off before you know it!!

Jason – Hope you feel better today and that you enjoyed watching all those movies.

Kate – A strong storm system came through here last night, but we mostly got wind and rain. No tornadoes here, thank goodness. It’s beautiful today, but really breezy.

Lacorso – Just keep saying, “I can and WILL lose the weight!!” I actually set my goal higher than what I actually want to be, so since things are going so well, I’m thinking of changing my goal once I get a little closer to the 130 mark.

Lori – Ooooh! Disneyland sounds fun. I’ve never been there, but I’ve been to Disney World four times. In fact, DH and I went there on our honeymoon. I’m a big kid at heart!!

Dan – Glad the wind didn’t blow you away. Hope you get to feeling better!

Joni – I’m so jealous! Billy Joel will be playing in Raleigh TOMORROW, and I would so love to be there. Just not in the budget right now. Glad you had a great time at the concert!!

Jillian – Hey! Hope things are going well down in Fayetteville!!

Paula – Good luck with the cookout preparations! Kids grow so quickly. Can’t believe mine will be 6 and 2 in May!! They were just babies for goodness sake!

Kristen – Hang in there! Hope DD feels better soon. The stomach flu has been going around ODD’s school, so we’ve been praying that she doesn’t bring it home. So glad Spring is almost here!!

Libby - Don’t worry. I’m sure your body will adjust to the reduced amount of food soon. I know that when I first started, I thought I would never be able to survive on the amount of food I was allowed to eat. But, now, I have some days where it’s hard to get everything in…and I’m on gold.

Rhonda – Hope you survived TO AND working in the school cafeteria!

Erika – WTG on your loss!! Wish I was doing as well on the St. Patty’s challenge.

Evette – Wow! You are so close to your goal, and you look great!

JM – Good to see you back!! Hope things are going well with the adoption process.

Cassi – I’m glad Aphil was able to update the thread name, so that it didn’t have to bug you all month. It would have bothered me, too. Hope you’re doing well down in sunny Florida!!

Nicole – I know what you mean about trying not to let PBS raise your children. I hate that my girls watch so much TV, but I figure that as long as I make sure it’s quality TV, it’s not TOO, TOO bad. Unfortunately, ODD doesn’t care too much for PBS anymore because people at school tell her that only babies watch Dragon Tales and Clifford. She’s too much into Sponge Bob now, and it drives me nuts!! Glad you were North of the worst of the storm.

Barb – Glad you’re back here with us. You can do it!!

Stephanie - Great job on being down 13 lbs so far. That is awesome!!

Aphil – Thanks for changing the thread name for us.

Deb – WTG on the loss!! And, I love your beading. Wish I could do things like that, but I’m so not creative. I’m glad my ODD inherited that trait from her grandmothers.

WendyII – Hope you and your babies are enjoying all that snow!! Even though it’s beautiful here today, I’m still a little jealous!! Would love to be at home building a snow man with the girls.

Kim – Hope your furkid feels better soon. Good luck on WI!

Katiebug, Megan, Sherry, Michael (WTG on the loss), and anyone else I may have missed, hope y’all are well and have a great day!!

hey everyone. i finally have a day off. the bad part is, this is my only day off til we fly out to south dakota to see the kids. but im so excited to have 10 days off! I'll try to check in while we're gone, but can't guarantee anything..need to spend time with my babies!

i was thinking about going to WI today, but decided that i'll do it tomorrow since i don't have to work til 2pm. then i'll WI on tues and then won't until i get back...which is scary to me! i need to check in and was going to at my old COD, but don't think i'll have time. but i'll just try and remember to be good and choose wisely. it'll be a bit harder since we're going to my parents to see them and my brothers and it's my bday while we're there too..but i'll manage.

anyways, that's about it. the wind was loud last night! but it's in the 60's today. glad everyone is doing well.

enjoy the day and weekend!

Kim - I have a sign outside my door at work that says "If you're asking for a favor, you'd better have chocolate"... and funny enough.. they all obey the sign! :chockiss:

I used to have a sign outside my door that was Sylvester saying "would you mind taking your silly assed question down the hall?" But that was before I worked at a school!

Well, they got their checks a day early - and guess what? We are at work today! Told em!

TO has been moved to Saturday and Sunday. Real food on Monday. I haven't been back on a sclae since the initial bombshell on Wednesday, but I no longer feel like a Macy's thanksgiving parade balloon. Progress!

I like the Sylvester sign.. I need that one!!

Went to WI this morning, but the COD is closed. Most of our little town is closed up for the day.. but I'm at work. My kids are at home arguing and calling me every 10 minutes though.. so I may be going home early to lock them each in seperate closets.. *sigh* Ahhh... the joys of parenthood.

Was outside shoveling the dog kennel after all the snow we had... It is very pretty but to much to shovel. Phil is going to finish snowblowing when he gets home. He had to snowblow himself out of the driveway today just so he can go to work.

Dan--we've been here a year and a half and really like it--small town but close enough to Amarillo for the good stuff. We grew up in West Texas where is was DESOLATE so the trees and canyons are great--the wind--not so much! In Arizona we were surrounded by mountains and really miss that part too--everyone (including us) thinks AZ is all desert but there are some really beautiful spots there.

PS--Go BUFFS!!

Hey gang! Well all of you sickos made me a sicko. I am down and out today. I'm hoping a good dose of drugs will take care of it - I don't have time to be sick! We've got the invasion of the pre-teen girls tonight (10 year old DS is having a party - and it's ALL girls YIPES!), a hockey tournament all weekend, a birthday party for DD to go to tonight.... nope. No time to be sick.

Sounds like Billy J. was a blast. That's funny about searching out the hotel!

Hope everyone in the south survived the wicked weather ok. I'm one of the weird ones that love violent storms (although, obviously not too jazzed about the loss of life and property part) and would probably be a storm chaser or something if I didn't have kid commitments.

Libby, it does get better. Not the starch part - that never gets better!;) - but you will adapt.

Deb - meant to say how beautiful your beaded eggs are. My grandmother raised me and we would make Christmas ornaments using eggs, ribbon, beads, figurines. Mine were always the ugliest because I have zippo art talent, but she always put them on the tree. My older sister got ALL the art talent and to this day all she has on her Christmas tree are homemade egg ornaments. She uses larger goose eggs and her figurines inside are usually some fine italian items that are gorgeous. I am attempting to attach a picture, but not sure if this is going to turn out. okay...it's here, but you can't see the great detail.

WTG Wendy! I'm probably going to go back to the COD tomorrow-haven't been in probably 6 weeks. If i'm lucky I'll at least be at the weight I was the last time I was in (my ticker weight!). All the counselors are different again! And that's just from after xmas when I went in -found yet another counselor I liked and could talk to-bought another 12 weeks or so . . . If the COD isn't going to be able to help me-I'm just going to finish out my weeks and then get my stabilization/maintenance going and do it on my own. This is just silly. I don't need to pay $11/week to step on their scale-get a good job or "do you need anything?" and walk back out the door in 2 minutes. I get better accountability here.

I ate some celery and RF PB today and weighed it 1TB 18g...... It was more then I thought it was going to be (obviously not the AMOUNT I WANT but it was a good amount.

It is still snowing. Not a lot but enough. Phil still has to finish the snowblowing.

Hey everyone! I have been MIA since my student teaching started. My first placement is behind me and the second one starts monday. I started back on the program today however. I had a really good conversation with the counselor at the COD and she gave me some tips that teachers use so hopefully this next placement wont kick my butt lol. To help me get back on track i am doing the 6 week challenge on here started it today. Hopefully will be able to do it with no problems. Right now I am a bit hungry.

I do have one question I know we talked about this a long time ago that the Slimfast does not have as much protein as the slimdowns what is everyone else adding or eating with the slimfast to get in more protein?

Its good to be back and hopefully I will be able to check in on a regular basis it might not be daily but at least every other day.

Check back in later!!!!

Didn't mean to torture with the Rice Crispies... I am hoping all these giggly little girls eat them all! Any that are left over will be going to Lea Ann!

I am jealous with all the snow out there. We didn't get one good one this year. My poor kiddos are going to have no idea how to act in that stuff. My best girlfriend just moved from Portland Oregon to Fort Collins CO. She is really digging the snow - but she is a Minnesota girl, so Oregon was not a good choice for her!

I've seen the little snack cakes - too small to make it worthwhile, I think! Those things are about the size of the "muffin bites" you used to see.

Well, I suck lately. I've made some bad choices this week. My DH is working in NY for the next 2-6 months and I guess I've been taking it out on food...and using my new 'married single mother' status as an excuse to not do things right. I missed WI on Thursday because of the storm, but when I had checked in on Tuesday I was up 3lbs from last Saturday. Something tells me things haven't gotten any better from there. Boo for me!

I also have had a crazy week at work, so I've been reading and making some comments, but haven't attempted any personals, and can't seem to get caught up now. I'll start fresh for the weekend.

Congratulations to all those who have lost this week!

Last WI in Thursday showed no loss, but no gain either, so considering I was out of town for three days, I should be happy.

Wow Angie, no, I have not been receiving rude PM's. You need to forward them to Aphil. She is great, and will help you out.

I, too, have been using food in the wrong way. Feeding a shattered heart, I guess. We learned this week that my dad has prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. We don't know very much yet, but things do not look very good according to the ureologist. I have not posted it until now, because I can't even think about it without tears. I could really use some prayers and support right now for my dad and my family.

Repo - I'm so sorry about your dad. Scary that it has spreads to his bones like that! Will certainly say a prayer for both of you. (((HUGS)))

I'm heading out to the COD this am because I want them to put me on the purple plan. They told me when I started that I would be put on it as soon as I lost 10 lbs. But they haven't mentioned it yet. So I'm bringing it up! I brought it up Thurs but the person who weighed me in said she wasn't a counselor and they have to do the plan changes. She weighed me in because they over looked me and I had another appointment to be at. (this was the second time in a week that they over looked me, grrr). I'm determined to hit the #20 mark by St. Patricks Day and I'm afraid I'm eating too much. I'm certainly not hungrey, LOL!

Hey quick question. How often do guys weigh in? My COD only wants us to come twice a week, but other people I know that have done it for awhile have to go 3x. They told me I could come in more if I wanted to but only HAVE to do 2x. Today will make my third and I'm kind of looking forward to it even though I don't think there will be much change.

Good Morning Everybody!

Well, went to WI today, and the counselor said I was "about the same". I looked at the paper, and I believe I am up a few ounces.
I haven't been eating everything because of not feeling well, but I am feeling better today, so hopefully the next WI will be better. Of course she went on her pitch about now that I'm feeling better, I should try a FF to get back on track. I just looked at her ... I will try my eating OP for a bit. See what happens. I have gone back on the lites. I may even try not having 2 a day of those, because I think my weight loss has slowed since going back on them.

Katie - my thoughts and prayers are to you and your family. Stay strong, and enjoy every minute with your family!!

Congrats to all the WL losers!!

Gotta try to get some studying done while the house is quiet. Will check back later ...

well, i went to WI today and i lost the pound that i gained on tuesday when TOM showed up. so, i'm happy. just need to keep up with my workouts and try and stay POP before my trip next week.

katie--my thoughts/prayers are with your family. DH's father has had many bouts with cancer and currently fighting it, so if you ever want to chat, i'm here.

gotta go to work in a few hours. hope everyone has a great weekend.

Man I hate my laptop sometimes. I got ¾ of the way through typing a decently long post directly into the ‘reply’ screen when I accidentally hit my mouse to send me back one screen. The whole thing was lost. While I know it was better the first time I typed it, I will try again! Here goes! I smartened up this time and typed it in word first.

This snow here in Minnesota is obnoxious. We have about 20” of fresh snow in my yard on top of the 12” from last weekend. The kids and S.O. were off from school/work yesterday. Thankfully I came home to a cleaned off driveway!

No Barb, I am not loving it!

We went out for Thai food last night, which has become somewhat of a Friday night ritual around our house. I used to travel a lot to Bangkok for work and got hooked on the style of cooking. Thankfully it is healthier than Americanized Chinese (as long as you stay away from the noodle, deep fried and coconut milk dishes). I usually have some form of chicken and vegetable stir fry, light on the sauce, heavy on the ‘hot’. The kids will usually get Pad Thai (and I will steal a bite or two). All in all, it is relatively on plan. I am happy we have several decently good Thai restaurants relatively close to my house.

Not much going on today other than studying. I have an exam Tuesday night in Accounting…..way to spend a weekend.

I have seen a bunch of posts lately from people talking about little scale movement, potentially due to them working out or exercising so much. I had a counselor from one of the other programs (you know the one with weekly meetings and points) that would talk about being a slave to your scale. She had no value for home scales unless you happened to be someone that exercised a lot. Then she strongly suggested getting a BMI scale. The BMI scale would potentially show the same lack of pound movement, but would show the BMI reduction that was happening as a result of muscle being converted to fat. I checked them out and ended up getting one. While they are not as accurate as the commercial, really expensive ones, they are pretty good and do definitely show the progress even though the pounds may not be moving.

If you are not using a scale for BMI reasons, her thoughts were to get rid of the home scale completely. It is too easy to become a ‘slave’ to the scale and to allow yourself to get down based on what the scale says. Heck, it already shows I am up, why not keep eating right?.....wrong, jump right back on the program.

I tend to agree with her, and feel the philosophy definitely applies regardless of the program. But I for one know it is hard NOT to step on the scale every morning.

Congrats on all the great losses this week. Let’s keep the trend in the right direction. Welcome all newbies (of which I may still be considered one) and for all those ‘returning to the fold’.

Have a great weekend.

Ok, here is my first attempt at some personals!

Michael- I agree about the scale… I personally don’t have one because I know that I would weigh myself after every meal and drive myself crazy!... well, crazier! Good luck on your exam… accounting sucks! I have taken a couple accounting and financial management classes… I am SO happy I don’t have to take another one before I grad!

Jillian- Isn’t it bad enough that we have to deal with TOM at all?... but when it makes the scale go up it makes me consider changing gender! Congrats on the loss.

Sherry- A few ounces is nothing… when I am within a few I consider it as being the same. Yesterday when I went in for WI I was up like.2 oz and the girl (I think she’s new) suggested I do a TO! I was like… ummm… pretty sure I lost over 10lbs last month, I don’t think that a .2 gain is going to send me running for the juice. It was the first time I really felt like a counselor was trying to pitch me a sale. I think that just being OP for a while is a good choice, good luck with it!

Stephanie- I was told to go in 3x a week… I think it’s in my contract that I have to… I’m with you though, I like going 3x… I go because I don’t have a home scale and I like to know what’s going on.

Repo- You and your entire family are in my prayers.

Angie- Nope, no rude PM’s… hmm, I wonder what that’s about….

I have to run to staples today to get some things and my COD is right next door… I think I’ll pop in for a WI… Like a dumb@$$, I went to WI yesterday right after breaky and a giant cup of tea. Just me being obsessive, but I think I want to see if the weight was accurate, or just food… This is why I don’t own a scale... I might be borderline OCD about this! Still have a sick ferret, so I think she’ll come shopping with me today… it always cheers her up and everyone loves her at the COD. Later gaters!

Hi again,

Back from COD and now I have another question. I got the purple plan today and the gal said absolutly don't split the protiens. I was trying to remember if I had read something on here about that recently but I couldn't find it. That 1/2 protein will be harder than I thought if this is the case. I'm going to go look at the menu thread to to get ideas. So do you all split or not?

Thanks, you all are such a wealth of info!

Kimphin
03-03-2007, 01:19 PM
Stephanie - My COD says it's OK to split proteins 9and they actually suggest it) but that you use the SAME protein when you split. I do that a lot with eggs (2 for breakfast and 1 hard boiled for lunch) and with cottage cheese. I prefer having some protein at each meal, so it works for me.

Katie - I am so sorry to hear the news about your dad. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. My dad fought very hard for 10 years - we really believe that his great attitude and love of life kept him with us for that long. I hope that the news from the urologist is promising.

Michael - I am a sclae addict, but I'm OK with that. My sclae has body fat % on it, which keeps me sane when I'm working out and staying the same, although I don't necessarily think that it is correct. But your advice was good, reminding us to not obsess and try to 'overcorrect'.

OK, I came to work today to catch up on the piles that were left for me.... Ugh. Gotta go.

03-03-2007, 01:39 PM
Katie - (((hugs))) to you and your family. I am certainly keeping you in my thoughts.

Stephanie, you can split the proteins but Kim is right - they gotta be the same. It's a pretty easy adjustment, in the whole scheme of things. When I dropped from red to purple, I skipped the protein in the mornings and had one with lunch and dinner. Now some days I will have 1 tbs RF peanut butter on a half bagel in the morning and the rest of the peanut butter on an apple or with some carrots at lunch.

Morning guys and dolls..

WI today went pretty well.. Liz continues to be on a plateau, however and is getting extremely frustrated.. We spoke to a visiting COD manager and she gave Liz some tips that seemed pretty simple, so here's hoping..

Lots of stuff to do today, so we'll talk to you all later!

Morning All
Quick hello as I caught Jaimie's bug. She is slowly on the mend but we are still watching her for dehydration issues. Jillian's nose is starting to show some not nice discharge so I'm praying to the parenthood gods that she has a cold and nothing like Jaimie or else we are in for another long week. We are so behind work wise and exhausted we are just hoping to get back to normal!
All the mayhem paid off on the scale and I am down 2.8 for the week.. so I'm at 166.2.. a long way from the 219lbs I started with. I set my goal for 160that I'm supposed to reach April 22. Thanks to all of you and all the challenges for helping me stay on track. I'm more accountable to all of you than I am to the sclae!... most days!
Katie a special hug to you.. I'm thinking of you and just have to say it's a blessing you all had your family wedding before learning the news.. hang in there and we're all here for support!

Off to disinfect and wipe some noses!

Had WI this morning, down 2.6 for the week. Staying POP really does make a difference! Who'd a thunk it? Congrats to all the losers.

Katie, my dad had prostate cancer and had surgery, its a scary time. I'll keep you guys in my prayers!

Katie - I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers are with you and your family. I lost my father to pancreatic cancer in '99 and know that it is not easy to watch someone you love struggle with illness. Hopefully, he will get some promising news from his doctor. There are so many advances in cancer treatment now. Try to keep a positive thought and remember that the time we have with our loved ones is precious and to live in the moment. If you ever need to talk, please feel free to PM me.

Angie - You do not suck! You are doing so well and have been a great inspiration to me (since we started 1 day apart). You will break this bad patch. It is probably just the "7-week-itch". Try to remember all the reasons you started on this journey and refocus your energies away from the emotional eating to positive affirmations. I constantly have to remind myself that losing my excess weight is going to feel better in the long run than that ginger spice cookie is going to taste in the short run. But I do know that sometimes it just kills!

I guess I'm in trouble about splitting the protiens. Now that I am on Purple, I have still been trying to have some at each meal but they haven't been the same. Like yesterday, I had 3/8 C. egg beaters for breakfast, 3 oz. chicken for lunch and 6 oz. beef for dinner. Guess I am breaking the rules? Does anyone know why you shouldn't split your protien? Seems kinda weird to me.

Congrats to all the losers this week. I am off to do final preparations for the monster-in-law's visit tonight. She's staying a week, heaven help me. I have to keep saying to myself, "I will be nice. I will be nice." "I won't eat junk out of frustration.", etc. Keep a good thought for me all.

I was told to split my protiens and have some sort of protien at each meal... never any mention of making sure the split ones are the same type... hmmm... seems like if this is really important, the COD's should be telling us the same thing across the board shouldn't they?

WOW Jason, 6 lbs is incredible!! Look at how close you are to your goal too, that is awesome!

Glad to see all the posts about splitting/not splitting the protiens. I'm doing exactly as they tell me because so far it has worked well and I don't want to screw that up. But I'm still curious as to why it needs to be the same protein.

I also have a new addiction. From the LAWL cookbook, it is one box sugar free/fat free chocolate pudding made as directed. Dish into four bowls, then add 1/2 a banana and 5 or 10 peanuts, chopped, (depending on how you want to spend your fat) and mix. This is so incredibly yummy that I want it every night for dessert, lol! I think tonight I will try a little FF Cool Whip on it too.

Hi everyone,
Happy March to all. Unfortunately, here in NC it is still cold and windy. Don't see Spring anywhere yet. I am still travelling but since I started LAWL on 2/20 I am down 4.8 lbs. That doesn't seem like much but with my travel schedule it feels like a lot. Hope all of you are well and I commit to post more often. You guys help me not feel so alone out there on the road.

Happy saturday everyone,

I have been struggling this week. I have a couple of good days and then I mess it all up and have a bad day. Work has been nuts (as per usual), plus because of that I am actively looking for something else. It seems like I am hardly ever home to cook an actual meal so I am always eating on the fly. I am going to sit down tomorrow and plan out my week as best I can and maybe even cook a couple of things tomorrow night and freeze and see if that helps. It seems lately that I am home long enough to sleep and shower and then out the door again.

But that's enough whining from me...I know many of you are having much rougher times than me and you guys can do it so...so can I. I just have to put my mind to it.

I go visit with my furkid for a bit tomorrow. Not sure if the ex will be there or not. He was last week when I was there. We get along fine but I won't deny that it is easier when I don't have to see him all the time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Think I'll go make some SF jello to have for a snack later with some FF cool whip.

TTYL!

Well guys, can't say this has been a happy WI day. Not a single ounce lost. Been this way for a week and have been POP too. I just don't get it. I am so frustrated that I can't get to the 170's that I don't know what to do. It is frustrating when I am watching Dan lose all this weight and I struggle to lose 1 stupid lb. Not in that good of a mood.

On a lighter side, I made a nice looking stand to place behind out new couch out of our old wooden fouton. The fouton broke so we bought a new couch to replace it. Well since the vent is by a wall, we have the couch about 16" from the wall. The space there is being used for the wireless and cable modem. I created the stand to hold the wireless and cable modem so that they weren't on the floor. It really looks nice and is two levels. I love working with wood and I finally got to do a project which I haven't done I a very long time.

Congrats to all the losers. Wish I was there with ya. See you all laters.
Liz

Hey everyone!

Katie so sorry to hear about your dad will be keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Jason 6lbs???? You are doing awesome!! congrats!!

WTG to all of those who lost.

I finished TO today but I think I had a little more to eat than what we are really supposed to but it was just extra lettuce and a little chicken. But I have to say I feel great. I will check my scales to see if there is a little bit of a loss at least. The past several TO's did not really do much for me. I start back POP tomorrow.

I am also going to start exercising again tomorrow. I just feel better when i eat right and exercise.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Katie -- I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis. I can only imagine how devastating that news is to you and your family. I'll be thinking of you and sending out lots of good wishes for the best possible news.

Amazing Kim -- Sorry to hear about the sick ferret, I hope s/he feels better soon. I'm always stuck doing WI at least after breakfast and some water (on SAturdays) and after much water and food on weeknights. Don't sweat it, if it showed you a little higher than you should be, it will seem like that much a bigger loss next time.

Sherry -- Good for you for resisting the FF until you've tried a few more POP days. From what I've read from others it's best used as a plateau buster rather than as penance for a bad week. I hope the extra food and lite gets you back on track. It worked for me the week before last.

Dan - Great to hear that you're doing well.

Liz - Sorry to hear about the plateau not breaking yet. I'm sure it will cave under your tremendous will to lose soon! Do you have any tips to share from the manager you spoke with? The stand sounds like a totally cool project.

Kristen -- I can't believe how close to goal you are, and on schedule! You're truly an inspiration. That's awful that you ended up with the same bug as DD...I hope it ends with you for the sake of your health and sanity!

Kim2 -- Yay for your 2.6lbs! Awesome results for your hard work being POP.

Libby -- Thank you for the pick me up. I made better decisions today, and that's a big NSV here, weekends are usually killer for me. I'm very happy to report that I had to keep hiking up my fave cords yesterday at work, because they are getting a little too big. Yay! Thanks for the reminder...I'm going to think of them next time I'm tempted to binge on popcorn. Good luck with your MIL's visit!

Jason -- Way to go! 6lbs is awesome. You must need the extra wing-calories to make up for the heavy exercise schedule you have. Sure, some might have been your flu, but I'd take it anyway...lol.

NCRed -- What a great start! That's really something when you are on the road...I'm sure it's not easy to get in all the exchanges and get the right amounts of everything. Good for you!

Goodnight all!

Katie -

I was just lurking (yes again) and I came across your post. I am very sorry to hear about your Dad. I will keep your Dad, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers !! Hugs sweetie !!!

I was told by the online counseler that breaking up the proteins is good. She said never eat your proteins together during the day. If you break them down further thats good. Also think about the science of it. Its harder for your body to break down protein than other things. So I would think the more you break it down the better off you would be...just my thoughts

Thanks for all of the kind words, guys. It really helps me to stay positive.

Britt- Good job on TO, and of course, extra lettuce and chicken will not kill you!

Norissa- Thanks, so good to see you!

I went out for some shopping therapy with my sister. Dillards had the most amazing clearance sale. I bought 4 new nightgowns. Just could not resist. I am a fool for jammies and nightgowns. There were tons of racks of things marked down 75% from the original price, then take an extra 30% off of that. I also got some new jeans (32" waist, whahooo), and a ton of tops. Shirts for my son for 2 bucks, oh, I could go on. It was shopping utopia.

Lizzy--hang in there--I was in your same boat--DH and I did LAWL together and he dropped tons faster, but it will come off. He made it to maintenance--I just goof around at 160 lol. WE keep saying we will "get serious" again but something always seem to come up to derail our great intentions. You are doing terrific by anyone's standards so as hard as it can be just grit your teeth, grin and tell him congrats. That's how I survived--it ws hard sometimes to be nice!!

Katie--you, your father, and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. WTG on the shopping--I never have such luck! I NEED a shopping day without kids!! I hate taking them but they have grown so much I HAVE to unless I want to return half of it later. UGH.

Hi everyone. I've been busy with work and running around and not visiting here as often as I'd like....and it has a direct reflection on my eating this weekend. Oh well...it's a new day, a new week.

Dear Katie - thanks for sharing the news about your father. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. What others have said is so true: they have made amazing progress in cancer treatments and need to have a positive attitude and be there to help your dad as much as you can. My BIL fought prostate cancer and was in remission for many years. I hope the same for your dad.

Kristen....I cannot believe your scale numbers. You have done an amazing job. Hubby must be so proud. I am, however, sorry to hear that the bug is moving around your house. I think you need to run for cover, but I guess moms cannot do that. I liked your LAWL definition for Jason.

Sorry I'm not catching up with all my personals. It was nice to see a quick post from Juliemarie, Allanah, Ulanda, Britt (hi...welcome back!!), and many others. Weekends are a bit quieter around here. I only had to read through a couple pages of stuff.

Just popping in real quick again. It's been a pretty decent weekend, BUT I had pizza twice. I hardly ever have CC's, and this weekend I had, too. I just feal cruddy because I still have a lot of congestion left over from my bad cold last week. I needed some comfort food, I guess. However, I DID pass up birthday cake last night at my in-law's. Was good and had one of my bars instead. Although, I'm not sure how good I really was because my MIL did not prepare a very LAWL friendly meal. We had some kind of yummy chicken casserole with cheese, onions, celery, cream of "something" soup, cream cheese, and ritz crackers on top. At least she had salad, so I was able to get my veggies in. Anyway, YDD is waking from her nap. Gotta go!!

Hi all! Seven pages of posts to catch up on, so sorry if I’m late of stuff.

Stephanie – Great loss so far. Glad you’re enjoying the program. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about the exercise right now. Just take this time to get used to the program and work it into your life. Once you have that pretty much down, then you can worry about adding exercise when you can. Baby steps are what will make this last. As for WI, I still go 3x/week. My contract says 2x/week, but my COD said they prefer 3. It works for me, having the extra accountability. I was told that I can split the proteins as long as they are the same protein. So sometimes I have an egg and cheese bagel for breakfast, and then egg salad made from two eggs for lunch. But most of the time I don’t split them anyway.

Joni – Hope you had a good time at the concert. DH and I went a few years ago to see Billy Joel and Elton John as our Valentine treat to each other. We had floor seats and it turned out we were right next to the sound board so the view was great!

Deb – WTG on the loss! And the eggs are beautiful.

Libby – It’s a tough change from red to purple, but you should get used to it in a week or so. I looked at everyone’s menus they posted for ideas when they switched me. Just try moving exchanges around until you find what works for you.

Lori – I know what you mean about the storm thing. I’m a big hurricane tracker. I hate the loss of electricity and fences and screens, which luckily has been our only damage, but I love storms. There’s this stillness in the air, and at the same time, this air of anticipation before a hurricane that is just incredible.

Barb – WOW! The snow looks beautiful. And your bouquet is pretty too.

Wendy – WTG on your loss. You’re doing fantastic!

Britt – So good to see you again! I’m adding a rf string cheese to my slim fast optima.

Angie – Hope those rude PMs stop. I hope whoever is doing it isn’t a regular poster in our community. And Katie’s right. Forward them to Aphil immediately.

Katie – I am so sorry to hear about your father. You’re family will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

Sherry – Glad you’re feeling better.

Michael – WTG on meeting your St. Patty’s day goal. I like Thai food too, but I have stayed away because I think I may head for the pad thai myself. Is it as high in sodium as Chinese? Any suggestions on what I should order if I go? When we get Chinese I stick w/steamed shrimp and veggies w/the brown sauce on the side.

Kristen – WTG on your loss. You’re getting really close!

DS is waking up from his late nap so I gotta run. Sorry I didn’t catch up with everyone!

Hello everyone,

I was almost POP today. Better than I have been lately so I'll take it. I have tomorrow all planned out and recorded in my planner so I have no excuses. Lunch for work is even all packed up and ready to go. I realized that when I first started this is what I did every night and then with the two moves and all the changes in the last 2 months I lost my habits I had formed. So, I sat down today and started to bring them back again. I can't plan way ahead because by the time the day comes I don't want what I had planned for several days earlier! But I was sitting down each evening and planning the next day and preparing anything I could that night to make the next morning easier for me. So, I am doing that again.

I have two nights each week right now where I am not home for supper as I go see my furkid on tuesdays and thursdays but I figure I can make extra on mondays and wednesdays and take my supper with me on those days I am not home. We have fridges at work I can keep it in through the day so it doesn't take up room in my lunch bag. The key here is preparation. It worked before, it will again.

I also went through my kitchen today and chucked out everything "bad" I have let myself get the last few weeks. Right now I can't control it so I am not having it. As I move on I will incorporate more in but for right now it is back to basics.

I even made som SF jello to have for a snack tonight and tomorrow at work.

Well, that's about it for me...This time next week I will be down instead of up!!! I go get weighed tomorrow at COD and I know it will be a gain but I am prepared for it. I screwed up and now I have to face the result!!! But I can fix what is broken!!

Evening Everyone!!

thought I would drop by really quick before i go make dinner. Have a ton of things to do tonight tomorrow starts my new placement for student teaching and it is also my final placement!!! I have been POP so far today and looks like it will end well! I checked on the scale this morning and i was down 1/2 lb which has been around the normal for my TO's lately. They just do not seem to be doing me much good. Anyway starting this week I will be doing my WI's on TU/TH in the late afternoon/evening and then on Saturday morning. Im worried that the liklyhood of a gain on my evening WI's is going to bring down my confidence. Hopefully the saturday am WI will be great but I was wondering if any of you have this problem where you WI at different times like this. Do you have advice for me? Back in Jan when i started doing this again that was the problem for me I lost on takeoff I think 1 lb and then right after TO i started to gain even thought I was being POP and they couldnt give me any advice or answers at the COD. I got really upset about it that weekend and stopped the program again. I do not want this to happen again. Any suggestions would be great!

glad to see that everyone is doing well.

Katie thanks for the info about the sale at dillards will have to drop by tomorrow after school.

Ok I am off to fix dinner and prepare for tomorrow!

hey everyone. back from work. wow, it was a super busy day. i'm exhausted. and i have to open tomorrow, so not much rest for me. but i'm soooo looking forward to our trip this friday. :) can't wait. although, i wouldn't mind my bday passing by this year without any notice. ;)

so, the girls at work today ordered pizza, and i didn't have any. it was a great big extra large pizza too..from a local pizza place. and i didn't even want any. i knew i was going home to cook a healthy dinner. yay!

going to WI on tueday. that will be the last time for WI til i get back 10 days later. kinda scared that i will gain, but hopefully it won't be too bad.

hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in really quick to say hello. Just got back from grocery shopping and and getting ready to start packing for my NYC trip. Sorry I don't have time for personals, but I haven't even started reading anything since page 5. Hope everyone is having an OP weekend.

I'm down to 125!! Whoo-hoo, 2 more pounds to my goal weight, but I don't think i'll be there by March 8th, but I'm really trying!! :)

Nicole - I'm not a "myspace" person, but I checked out your site. I sort of had to rush through it but wanted to comment that your wedding picture (with the 3 girls in it) is absolutely gorgeous! How old are your boys? I don't know how you do it.

I went and saw "Because I Said So" with Diane Keaton this afternoon. DH wanted to see Ghost Rider and when we got to the theatre, I said, I really don't want to see this one so he stayed and watched Ghost Rider and I switched over to the chick flick! I loved it. I brought some healthy smart popcorn and my own diet coke and was quite content. Haven't been POP this weekend, but I'm holding my own. I decided I had the virtual LAWL flu that everyone on this site seems to have had this past week. I just didn't feel 100%. Hopefully I'll get back in the swing this week and pick up on my exercising.

Evette, have a great trip to NY and congrats on dropping yet another pound.

I should be doing my taxes, especially since I have a refund coming, but I keep putting it off. I usually do my own taxes, on paper!! because I'm too cheap to pay anyone to do it and don't want to pay the online fees. I did find a reputable place/software online that is free called TaxAct. I just need to do it. Has anyone heard of or used this software/service?

I'll be out all day tomorrow (another road trip with my puppy dog). Gotta get up at 5A so I'm taping Desperate Housewives and hope to watch it tomorrow night while on the treadmill. Hope you all have a great Monday.

Evette - You are truely an inspiration in your weight loss! When did you start LAWL? Many, many congrats on your success!

Cassie - thanks for the tips/info, you are right about the baby steps. It's so nice to hear what others are doing!

I made my lunch for tomorrow, Chicken Pad Thai. YUM! I'm surving without the extra 1/2 protein, but man i miss it, LOL! The starch hasn't bothered me to give up at all, kind of funny because I thought that one would be the worst.

Have a POP and great Monday!:carrot:

Kristen - you are soooo close! That so totally rocks, girl!

Does anyone know why you shouldn't split your protien? Seems kinda weird to me. They tell me it's a calorie thing - the only time the COD mentions calories!

Jason - a little binge shakes my WL up too. (As long as it's just a binge and not a reversion to old habits!;) ) Gals, don't hate him 'cause he's beautiful! :dizzy:

Nance, new clothes are the best! Great job! Katie - I forget all about Dillards - sheesh! I hope they still have a sale when I am in Spokane next weekend. I need some new duds too! http://www.mysmilie.de/english/green/midi-smileys/activity/3/0062.gif

Oh yeah, Lea Ann - thankfully no Rice Krispies coming your way - the girly-bops showed up with pizza, ice cream and root beer. They ate all the pizza, a good portion of the rice krispies, all but half a liter of root beer, and I made them take all their ice cream home with them. DH and DS finished off the rice krispies this morning. Good for me, I only had one square (but I won't say how big it was!)

Evette, you are doing so great. You're going to waste away to nothing if you aren't careful!

Well, better get off here and get to bed....

Good Morning everyone!!! Just had to share my good news!!! Weighed in this morning at (drum roll please....) 123.5!! OMG, I am so proud of myself. Half a pound a way from reaching my NYC goal. Okay that's it!! Hope everyone else has a great day too! Stay POP people!! Take Care.

Lori: Thank you. Don't worry I won't waste away, I'll be really careful. Got my DH here to take care of me and to watch every move I make.

Stephanie: Long story short...I started LAWL on May 2006, but had initially started on the Atkins diet back in November/December of 2005. Lost 34 pounds on the Atkins and 57.5 pounds on LAWL.

Cassi: We were posting at the same time....Thank you, thank you, thank you...Gosh, can you tell how excited I am? As for me going to 118, I said it at first to spite my husband, but I don't know...maybe 120. We'll see what my body says.

Good morning all! Busy, busy day today so don't know how much I'll get to check in. May not even make it to WI until tomorrow. Had an OK weekend, but definitely not POP. These honey mustard pretzel nuggets keep calling to me. Bought them for DS because he used to like them and I figured they were a better snack at school than potato chips, but now he doesn't like them. So they sat there in the pantry half-open staring at me all weekend every time I went in there. DD told me this morning she won't eat them so tonight when I get home they are going in the trash. In fact, I think I will have DH throw them away so they are already gone and out with the trash tonight when I get home.

It's shaping up to be a rough week for me. We are going to the in-laws for dinner on Wednesday because DH's cousins are in for one night. MIL doesn't want to cook so I think she's ordering in chinese. As long as she gets me some steamed stuff and I avoid the rice, I should be ok. But Saturday is Irish Fest. WOO HOO! They have this great festival all weekend. DH and I are going Saturday evening. I can already taste the Harp beer. Must be good this week to account for that. Good thing the 6 week challenge brings us TO on Monday!

Evette - WTG on your loss, girl! Are you really thinking of going to 118?

Lori - Glad you survived the rice krispie treats. Sounds like you did better than me and the pretzels!

Joni - Good luck w/Charlie today!

Joni- I have used TaxAct for the last 2 years, and I really like it. They make it pretty hard to make a mistake. I can't stand paying someone else to do mine, either.

Evette- Wow, you are amazing! Too funny about DH pinching you. That sounds like my house.

Lori- We went back to Dillards yesterday, and the sale was over. So there were still a zillion racks of 75% off clothes, but they were not taking the additional 30% off.

My baby, 4 year old DD, woke up this morning with the flu, so I have no idea what I am doing about work today. Gotta go in, at least for part of the day, but I cannot take her. I have no clue what I am going to do.

Good morning, all!! Gonna try to be OP today, but my group is going out for lunch today for BBQ pork. I don't want to be anti-social, so I'm going. At least this place seems to have very lean pork, and they let you add your own sauce. Hopefully, I can keep my hands out of the hush puppies (fried corn bread for those of you up North) and can find some semi-healthy sides to go with it. Feeling pretty good today because I pulled yet another pair of pants out of the closet this morning that I haven't worn in a few years...and I can breathe!! Yay me!

Evette - Wow! You are amazing! But I can totally understand DH pinching you. I'm only 5'2", and I once was told that my most ideal weight would be 122. Right now, I'm only gunning for 130, but if all goes well, I may reset my goal for that or at least 125.

Katie - Hope DD feels better and that you can get the work thing figured out. With 2 little ones, I know how it is. At least, I have the flexibility to work at home when I need to, which helps so much!!

Cassi - Throwing the pretzels away is probably a good idea. I try to keep most temptations out of the house now. Once in a while, DH will buy cookies for him and girls and hide them. Unfortunately, I usually find them!! Fortunately, chips and pretzels don't tempt me..I have more of a sweet tooth..so he can usually keep those in plain site. Now, cheezits are another story....

No time for more personals now. "Hey" to everyone else, and have a great day!!

Hi all! I spent the weekend trying to dig out from a pile of laundry, clean out the fridge because I didn't get a chance to do it before we left (Yuk - remind me to never do that again). And while I was at it, I totally cleaned out the cupboards of all lingering junk. Unfortunately, with all of that I did not get to the market, so TO gets postponed another day. I need to get my act together. The sclae is creeping down on its own, though, thank god.

Evette - Yay on the goal! You will definitely get to it. Have fun in NYC - and happy birthday too!

Cassi - good luck this week, with all of the goings-on. St. Patty's day is on a Saturday this year - oh boy. I'll have to plan around that one - there is an Irish pub here that has a block party with a heated tent and bands all day... we always go. Have fun this weekend - Harp is made in my Irish hometown! It's my fave too!

Joni - Never used TaxAct. I'm avoiding it because I'm pretty sure we owe this year. I'm good at avoidance!

Katie - I hope you can work something out about your DD today - you mom's sure have a lot of shuffling and scrambling to do every day! I hope she feels better soon.

Wendy - WTG on re-acquainting yourself with those pants! Good luck at lunch.

OK, so work is pretty busy/bad right now. The political atmosphere is awful -(for instance - last week we had a boil water advisory in the village - and we announced it in the afternoon, told kids that they should bring in some bottled water for the next day, then we bought gallon jugs for each classroom. Yet, the next day, I see our receptionist putting her Kindergartener in front of the bagged up water fountain, tells him to look sad and takes a picture of him..... WTF???!?? Then I remembered that her DH is going to run for school board. I can't stand it.) Anyway, this weekend two really good school jobs opened up. I'm seriously contemplating applying. They are a lot bigger districts, which could mean more stress, OR... maybe less stress, I dunno. Any suggestions?

Good morning all..

The weekend went by too quickly, as usual, and I'm just not in the mood for work.. Not that I'm really working at the moment..

I have to admit, our Sunday was a bit "off" by plan standards.. We were mostly POP, but ended up eating more starches than we should have.. Faced with eating turkey filets (again!), Liz and I just decided that we wanted something good (bad) for dinner.. We almost bit the KFC bullet, but our kids suggested Olive Garden (smart kiddos).. So we went and had our fill of salad and a couple of breadsticks each (there's those extra carbs)... Oh.. and we both had pasta dishes, but I'm happy to report that neither one of us ate much of the pasta, filling ourselves with the included meat (steak for me, crab for Liz)...

My only excuse is that we're getting occasionally bored with the same ol', same ol', no matter how many different ways we cook it..

I think part of it was also the frustration on Liz's part, since she's not been moving the scales lately.. Not that I blame her one bit...

So.. Needless to say, WI may not be to swift on Tuesday, but at least if it isn't, I won't be disappointed....

Have a POP day, all.. We're having turkey filets for dinner...

Good morning everyone!!!

Evette..........congratulations girlie!!! I am so excited for you. You are going to have a blast in NYC!!!

Katie.......I hope you figured something out with your kids and work. Isn't it sooo difficult to balance that? When I did home daycare, I always had that struggle......and it totally sucked. I, too, have 2 kids home with the flu......so if we lived closer, I'd just tell you to drop her off. What's one more puker, right? I bought this wonderful upright steam vac last year when DH was at deer camp, so cleaning it up is a breeze now. I tell you, it's the best $179 I have ever spent. And, DH thinks so too now, cuz he had to clean up puke last night........:)

Joni.......Thanks for the compiments on my myspace pics. Did you notice how skinny I was just 6 years ago? I dressed all my girls in white because really, DH married into our little girlie family. He gave them all bracelets that day with inscripitions that were from "Dad." He adopted all of them 6 months after we were married, and they knew that was the plan.......so it made that day even more special. It truly was the happiest day of my life :)

I made a myspace page because I wanted to beable to monitor my daughter and her friends pages. She knows I check up on her, and although she doesn't particularily like it, she is ok with it. Every now and then when I ask her to remove something from it, she threatens to block me........but she hasn't yet. I have not said this outloud to her, but I would probably revoke her computer priveledges if she blocked me :) Now my 11 yo DD has started one too.....but her's is restricted because she is under 13. It is such a different time now then when we were teens. If you stop and think of it.........noone writes real live letters anymore. Noone ever has to wait for anything.........do you guys remember when you had to mail a letter to a friend who lived out of town, and you had to wait at least a week and a half to hear back from them. I find it kind of unfortunate that our kids won't really ever experience that. Don't get me wrong.......I love technology and computers and all that.........you just get a new perspective when your kids are teenagers. I hope your trip with Charlie Dog goes well :)

Cassi.........although I do not have Irish Fest comming up........I do have girlscout cookies and a road trip to Wisconsin this weekend, and I am afraid. I am especially afraid because I lost 4 freakin pounds this week, and I don't want to gain them back. I will be picking up about 150 boxes of cookies on Friday, and then traveling with a good portion of them to deliver to friends and family in Wisconsin. I love munching in the car, and I have managed the last few trips to be good........but with a Suburban full of crabby kids and girlscout cookies......I fear I may cave. I am thinking of just choosing one day to eat cookies..........like maybe Sunday on our way home.......I don't know. What would you do?

Kristen.........I hope you are feeling ok. :)

Ok, time to tend to the little ones..........I will be back with more in a bit.

Hello to everyone.......sorry I haven't replied to everyone yet........I will :)

:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Woooo hooooo Barb way to go girlie! You can do this!

Evette- OMG congrats! Thats a number I'll only ever see again in my dreams! Thats what I weighed when I graduated highschool but that was a LONG time ago!

I just about shouted and did a happy dance in a store dressing room Saturday! I bought a size 12 pants(and I can actually breathe in them)! I havent seen a size that small since my oldest son was born and he just turned 22 last week!

I'm calling today to make an appointment for a consultation for a tummy tuck. Hubby promised me when the weight came off he would pay for it. I've had 3 c-sections. I could weigh 100 pounds and still have a flabby stomach. Told him I wasnt getting the weight off and still not feeling good about myself because I hate my stomach. Sooo we'll see how all of that goes!

Everybody have an amazing day!

Kim......we were posting at the same time..........so sorry about the fridge. I used to hate that........fortuantely (I think), our food NEVER lasts long enough to rot. LOL. Of course, every once in a while, something gets pushed to the back.....and becomes a science project. Glad your sclae is moving down. Kim #2................you are my idol!!! Serioulsy.........I so want to have a TT, but I am a chicken. I only had 1 C-section, but 5 full term pregnancies pretty much destroyed my tummy. I could probably wear pants 2 sizes smaller, but I have all this junk around my waist. It's not all fat either......it's just ickiness. Please tell us all about your consult.......or PM me........I am sooo curious about it. I have a cosmetic surgery place about 2 miles from my house........and I could pop in there anytime, or make an appt, but I'm afraid to even do that. I am mostly scared, (besides medical complications) because I don't know if I could ever stop with surgeries. You know what I mean? Cuz I might want a brow lift..........a boob job.......some lipo.......and the list goes on and on. That is me though..........and I am a little wacky :) I hope your consultation goes well :) (I'm green with envy).

Kim(phin)...

I just about spit my coffee when I read the part of your post about the kiddo in front of the water fountain.. I hope for that person's sake, that the picture doesn't end up in a newspaper or used for political reasons.. That is a BIG ethical no-no.

I know that sounds kind of extreme, but I spent enough time in radio/tv news to call fowl when I hear of or see staged pictures or video.

Sorry to rant.. Must have more coffee!

Nicole- My flab isnt around my waist, its all in my lower stomach. Just saggy flabby skin that no amount of weight loss is going to fix. Every pair of pants I buy is too big in the thighs and butt because I cant stand the way anything looks if its too tight in the tummy. My goal was to get to a size 12 and with the tummy tuck to get rid of the excess junk I should be able to do that comfortably. I survived 3 c-sections, this doesnt scare me one little bit LOL As for more surgery? The only other thing I think I would consider is a breast lift. I dont need implants, I've got plenty, just wish they were back up on my chest where they started before breast feeding! LOL (sorry roosters) Just a sad fact of life LOL
I'll let you know how the consultation goes!

Kimphin
03-05-2007, 11:52 AM
Dan - yeah, that was pretty much my reaction too. The thing is, the village is so small that there would be no TV ads, they would just go around door to door with the picture as part of their campaign, and all of the "kool-aid drinkers" here would just get in line. It's sad. My first reaction as a resident (which I am not) would be - "yeah, you live in the village, you knew it was a boil water advisory, why didn't you send your kid to school with a bottle of water?" but then, that's why working in politics is so hard on me - I don't expect my government to take care of every aspect of my life for me. The thing that really kills me is that there was a jug of water in each classroom - a fact that I'm sure will not be relayed. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good scandal!

Kim......my lower tummy is the same way. It's like an empty Walmart bag. LOL. I breastfed 5 kids......so I know what you are talking about there too. I can deal with that better than the hangy belly syndrome :)

Hey girls.........do you think LAWL would trade me my 20 some remaining WL weeks for online access? I just really don't get much out of going to my COD, and my losses aren't affected at all when I go in. I am just thinking I would get a lot more use out of the investment I made with their online tools than I do going to the COD that I rarely go to. What do you think?

Evette -- Only in my dreams would I ever be at 123 or 118 again! My DH would probably have to quit his job because he'd think he'd need to fight men off full time. I'm really glad you've done so well and are so close to goal. Keep going, you still might make it by the time you take your trip!

Lori -- Glad the party went well and most of the temptations were neutralized. :D

I'm home today, DS is sick with a cold and a bit of an ear infection. He's in good spirits, but he's a mucous making machine, so he can't be at daycare today.

Katie - I hope you figure out what you're doing today and that your DD feels much better soon.

Dan/Liz -- Yeah, I hear you on the same old thing... I have chicken breasts in the fridge and just can't bring myself to cook them until I come up with some way to make them turn into something other than chicken...lol. If only they could be bacon... sigh.

Kim2 -- I'm so interested in hearing about your consultation for the tummy tuck. Maybe that's something I could treat myself to as well. I've only had one c-section, but trust me, I need it.

Nicole -- Why not? If you're not going to the COD anyway then they might be open to switching you over. I'm with you and Kim on the tummy thing, deflated innertube comes to mind for me.

Kim - You lost 4lbs in a week? Yes! Way to go superwoman!!

TOM has arrived here, so I'm hoping he's partially responsible for my crappy results last week, although popcorn and starches had something to do with it. I'm going to WI again tomorrow, so hoping for some good news then.

Morning All
Jaimie is mended but Mommy got it on Friday. I've never had such a rough go with a bug since I got typhoid in Cancun in 2000! But of course the sclae was good to me as I was down a pound over the weekend.
Kim#2.. I need a copy of your PM to Nicole after your consult.. you and I are living nearly the same journey on the scale etc. I'm getting down and down but with the loss on the scale everything is heading south on my body. What gravity?? DH says I need to decide for certain if we are done at 2 kids before I go and hike it all back up again! With my two at their age right now, one getting ready to potty train and us almost out of diapers I can hardly see gaining weight, being up all hours of the night and dealing with breast feeding again.. that one is going to have to take some thought! My YDD was our surprise baby after a night involving wine.. now that I'm not drinking on this plan I would be fully aware of all my actions LOL!
So a crazy week ahead to catch up on last as we were so out of sorts with the sick girl of mine. Nicole you can't go to Wisconsin unless you take me.. I'll keep you out of the cookies.
Kimphin I am also coming to hang out for the Irish Fest.. how far from my house to yours?? Don't worry about the TO till next Mon/Tues... I'm joining the 6 week challenge late too and just do a Slimfat on Tues/Thurs/Sat and then your TO next week.. you'll be on par with me :)

Dan, tell Liz when I did WW a few years ago I made up the meal plans for each week, bought, measured and cooked all the food and every time we went to weigh in my DH would be down about 6-8 pounds and I would stay the same, gain or if I was really lucky lose 0.4. My DH is lucky to be alive.. at some point the scale does start moving again though it is a true test of sanity while you wait! Hang in there Liz

Angie, it's a new week you can do it.. I find I'm craving popcorn more than anything these days too! Except of course for my coffee which I gave up for Lent.. ahh only another month to go before I can run to my local Starbucks.

Cassi you do have a busy week ahead! Don't get to run down.

Hello to Kims, Wendys, dear Joni, Nance, Lea Ann, Lori great to see you, Roosters of all kinds, PEARL.. we miss you, Ulanda, Barb..keep on rockin, SHEA, Sara and all the Canucks and to everyone else who's names are escaping my flu exhausted mind!

Kristen,

Liz and I have contemplated doing the whole weekly planned, weighed menus, but when it comes right down to it, chicken is chicken and turkey is turkey... Sometimes you just want a big plate of alfredo... (minus the pasta, with a big loaf of crusty bread... )

Mama Nicole

Dan.......do you and Liz eat beef or pork or any other meats besides poultry. I know the COD is beefanoid......but I have never noticed a gain from proteins. The only time I have a slow week or a gain is if I go off plan in a bigger way than food choice.......it is always because I have eaten too many exchanges of something or because my portions were too big....or because I ate candy...LOL. Seriously.....you might want to think of mixing it up. I have to cook for a big family....and they don't want to eat chicken and turkey every day.........so I make what I have always made, plus some of the LAWL recipes......and then I make them low fat, low cal as much as possible. Say for instance, if I am making beef stew.........before I add the butter at the end (I know, ridiculous, right), and before I thicken it with flour.......I take my beef, potatos and carrots out with the clear broth and set it aside. Then, I finish the original recipe for the kids and DH. Also, if I am making something that is absolutely off plan for them..........I always make a huge salad to go with it.......eat something OP while I am cooking, and then enjoy a yummy big salad with my family while they are eating. I am protected from eating their stuff because I am already satisfied from my pre dinner dinner. Anyway.........what I am suggesting is to maybe include other proteins once or twice a week and see how it goes. :)

Mama Nicole
03-05-2007, 01:25 PM
Oh, also....when I make things like Alfredo......I still eat pasta with the family.......just modified. I have found that 1/3 c. cooked pasta looks real tiny on your plate.......but if it is surrounded by succulent shrimp, broccoli, and 1 tsp. of butter, it is pretty damn good ;) I also eat rice.......but only LAWL portion. My thinking is that I want to be in control when I am finished with the weight loss phase........and I don't want to fear so many foods. I will always fear sweets.........so I totally get it if you don't do other protein because they are trigger foods........but if you are only concerned about beef because it is a higher calorie protein, you might want to add it once in a while for variety.

Mama Nicole
03-05-2007, 01:26 PM
can't seem to get it together today.........Cassi's recipe for beef dijon is yummy. Since I tried that recipe, I have also just broiled a pepper rubbed flank steak, sliced it up, and served it as my protein, and it is delish!!!!

Angie
03-05-2007, 01:44 PM
I saw that beef dijon recipe and have been wanting to try it.

I also get a bit 'liberal' with my condiments when I'm finding chicken and turkey a snore. Today I had leftover chicken breast from last night (ugh, more chicken!) with lettuce on a pita, and I threw caution to the wind and had normal BBQ sauce and some full fat garlic mayo on it. I doubt a tablespoon of mayo will have any impact on my WI, and in fact, maybe I'll pretend it was a fat.

Another chicken pick me up...take the last of your LF LS peanut butter, when it's down to about 1/3 of a cup left, add a bit of boiling water and some LS soya sauce, and a tsp of horseradish and voila, you have instant thai dipping sauce for chicken. It's yummy, and a little different.

I am restarting LAWL with 10 pounds to lose, I plan on going back to Gold and am wondering if you think I should start off with Fast Forward or Take Off? Im already on a low cal diet, like 1300 per day, so do I need that "jolt" that Fast Forward or Take Off provides? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey everyone............did you ever notice the option on the user cp screen to pay to view the forum without ad banners? let me tell ya.....i just did it, cuz i was tired of all that junk slowing the site down......and MAN, what a difference. It was $1.00 for a one week trial, $10.00 for 3 months, and $15.00 for 6 months. I chose the six month jobby, and am I ever glad I did. I

I called my COD to see about switching my account to an online account, and they said they would pull up my file and call me right back. Just a quick hello as I get ready to run off to take DD to testing for kindergarten. We are sending her to private school and they test them before they accept them.

Lacorso- Love your avater (he he) and...:bday2you:

Kim #2- I read that your daughter made the squad :carrot: How awesome. My DD had competition this weekend and her tiny team took 1st place and the teams combined took Grand Champions...exciting.

Evette- YOU FREAKIN' ROCK! You amaze and inspire me, congratulations on meeting your goal weight and have fun in the big apple.

Cassi...or should I call you Sassy Pants! I was giggiling at your post about the panties :D I watch AI too and I have a few favs but more importantly there is one I can not stand...her name escapes me right now but she is the one with the bad photo's on line; her singing sucks and she totally screwed her team during group performaces in tryouts. I digress.

Kristen- HELLO. I hope you are feeling better. You are so crazy:dizzy: ...yes, I notice you bold my name and never forget me (I feel the love  )

Katiebug- Those ounces add up to pounds...hang in there.

Nicole- Love the book title...I really hope you do write it. I have a myspace page too. All the young ones in my family do so I joined the bandwagon.
http://www.myspace.com/corsettifamily
If you want to veiw my page you'll have to add me ;)

Hey there to everyone I did not do personals too. Although I don't always post or visit 3FC I DO think about this group everyday. Things are really starting to get crazy with...well, life. I'm sticking to plan and loosing but sometimes just don't have the time to post. Oh crap...I just noticed the time...gotta go!!!

Hey Everyone..

Just spent the weekend with a baby with stomach flu :-( I didn't feel so hot either, so haven't been OP since last Thursday. *sigh*

Our family is getting packed for our trip to Texas.. we leave on Wednesday to drive on down.. so I'll be gone for 11 days! We're taking a good ol' fashioned road trip.. First we're going to the Spam Museum, then through Iowa to see the World's 2nd largest frying pan, and the future birthplace of James T. Kirk - down to Nicole's part of the world to see the Gateway Arch and the "Elvis is Still Alive" Museum... then off to Memphis to see Graceland (the "Elvis is Dead museum) and the Gibson Guitar Factory.. to Dallas (is there anything to see in Dallas???) then Houston to visit the Space Center and then San Antonio to visit the Alamo.. oh yeah, and the Toilet Seat Art Museum.. then off to the southern tip to spend some time with my parents & visit Mexico and the Gulf. It'll be an experience, I'm sure!! Kinda sounds exhausting now that I write it all down!! I"m going shopping tonight to get myself some veggies and snacks to take along that are OP. We'll see how good I do along the way.

Nicole - I have a myspace for the same reason you do.. to keep an eye on my kids!! So far it's worked too :-)

Dan - stop using the A word. (alfredo) I was going to ask the same thing Nicole did.. don't you eat real meat??? I've always eaten steak, pork chops & turkey burger for proteins.. it's worked so far!

Evette - congrats on being within that last .5! That's so wonderful!

Kristen - sorry you've been surrounded by the germs too.. I'm really tired of sick kids and being sick myself. Ugh!

Barb - wtg, girl! You're doing great!

Can't remember what else I was going to say.. so I'll move along.. dang blonde moments!!

Hello to all of you.. hope you're having a great day!

It's lacorso's birthday
This is a new name to me...are you on LAWL?? Happy birthday anyway.

Kim - just makes you want to go smack that gal for taking that staged picture......
I say it never hurts to apply for something and see what they have to offer. The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side, but you will never know unless you take the risk.

Nicole - sorry to hear you've got germs running around your place. I totally agree that if my kid were to block me, computer priveleges would be revoked. I also believe that when kid ignores his parents cell phone call, their cell phone privileges should also be revoked. I read a sign on a church bulletin board this morning...something like discipline is taught in the play pen, not the PENitentiary.....(sp??). I also say as long as you are footing the housing and general bills, a parent should be able to have a big say in what their kids do. Of course I am the least expert on this site.
I saw your follow up post; let us know what your COD says about the Online transfer. Something tells me it may not be as simple as you want it to be. But I really do hope it is easy for you to accomplish.

Katie - hope your little one is better to. Thank goodness cooties don't spread through cyberspace! I'd have to stay off this site and I would not be happy. Thanks for the confirmation on TaxAct...maybe tonight.......

oh...I just bought a MegaMillion dollar lottery tix. Big prize is $340 million. The odds of winning are 1:175,711,536 . I'm thinking those are better odds than me every getting to goal weight. If I win, I'll pop for your TT and one for Nicole too! Your's too Kim Teen!

Good to see ya Katiebug and Jillian!

Evette - congrats on making goal!

Cassi - I had an "unintentional" Irish fest this weekend (interpretation - I drank!). I like that you plan out your indulgent moments. I think that is a great key to success! You are doing great too!

WendyII: That sounds like our honeymoon, except we are going west through Utah, Colorado, California, Washington, Wyoming... Have fun!

Joni: How is the furbaby doing now?

Kim 2: WTG on your NSV!!! That is so awesome!

Nicole: My stomach is like an empty Walmart bag too and I had no kids. I do think that the number of stomach surgeries has played into it though.....
I do alot of the same things with my meals when I make them for Phil and I.. When I make chili I take a small batch for myself and dont add the beans (I dont like beans)... When I measure out the food I will use smaller plates so it LOOKS like more food. I try to trick my eye....

Kristen: I hope u are feeling better!

Dan: I know what you mean about the turkey and chicken. I get tired of it also. My fiance does not like alot of pork and fish so sometimes it is hard for me when I am dieting to plan meals....

Jillian: I used to work in the retail environment it is tiring! Hope you had a good workout.

To everyone else! Have a great day! Cassi, Katie, Angie,Deb, Lizzie, Erika, Jason, Michael and anyone else I am missing Keep on fighting the good fight WE ARE ALL WORTH IT!

WendyII……when you are in St. Louis…….if you are going to go ANYWERE….might I suggest the City Museum. www.citymuseum.org. It is the most fantastic place I have ever visited here in Sunny St. Louis. It is amazing for ALL ages. The website does not even begin to give it justice……..but it gives you the hours. Also, there is another family spot that is great fun called Grant’s Farm. It is fun for all ages. www.grantsfarm.com. It is home the world famous Clysdale horses, and it is a great time. Oh, and Grant’s farm is FREE…..except for parking, which I think is like 6 or 8 bucks. St. Louis is filled with family friendly fun…….so if you have the time, you may want to spend more than one day here J

Joni…….I totally agree with you about the cell phone thing….and I think common sense and natural consequences are some of the best tools for parenting. The thing is, you don’t have to be an expert……..you have to beable to trust yourself and then you have to be strong enough to follow through when your heart is breaking. And noone is an expert at that L. I always take your thoughts on kids to heart, so please, keep any thoughts or ideas coming. I am new at this parenting teens gig, and I tell you…….I have never felt so unprepared for a job in my life J You are a doll for snagging me a TT if you win J Thanks in advance.

Barb……I used to think the small plate thing was stupid……..but you know, now that I am used to my portion sizes….I find myself doing that all the time. I guess I am kind of trying to play a trick on myself…..but also, I need as much room in the dishwasher as possible……LOL. Also, on the tummy thing………I really think it boils down to what kind of skin you have. My cousin, Jodi, has 5 kids (yeah, I know, we are a big bunch of breeders), and her stomach is flat. WTF? She has a darker, olive, oilier skin than me, and she doesn’t have a stretch mark on her body. Go figure. I always think though…….God is fair. People may not beable to see all of our good things immediately…….but you know the saying…….ugly is to the bone. Glad you are doing better now………it’s good to see you J

So, I called my COD, and they were really nice and thought it would be no problem to transfer me to online……..and then they called back and said they didn’t know for sure if it was possible. I then told them that LAWL emailed me back and said it would be fine and that my home COD could file the paperwork……and the counselor was like, wow, that’s great. I then asked her if she wanted me to forward the email to her, and she was all happy that I would do that. However, she still does not know how to go about doing it, so I have to wait until she can get the regional manager to call her back. Ok, so I started this request today, March 5th. Let’s see how long this might take J You know, just for fun.

Ok, DH should be walking in any time now…….must start getting boys ready for bed so I can chill.
XOXO

P.S. I miss Pearl J

I think the small plate thing works. It helps your eyes THINK you are having more food then you are. Yeah, I am glad I am back. I am trying Gold 2 right now with lites (lunas, Kashi) and I am going to see how that goes. You get 3 Starches and I am only doing the 3 Starches on days I work out. Wendelina - I love your itinterary! I have these dreams of one day buying an AirStream trailer and outfitting it with a plastic flower garden with nomes (sp?) and pink flamingos on top and touring the country to see all the odd attractions out there - world's largest ball of rubberbands, the biggest frying pan, etc. I thought I could finance my little excursion with a webcam and stream interviews with the people I met along the way. What a fun way to see our country.

I'm down another .2 today. Not the greatest loss but not bad considering that I went out for dinner Friday night with friends and indulged in a small slice of key lime pie. Then, last night we had pizza for my in-laws visit. And, of course there is the desired stress eating I am really wanting to do to deal with the MIL. I shall just grit my teeth and smile until she leaves on Sunday.

KimII - I've had some plastic surgery, a long time ago. (PM me if you want details anyone) I think after my consultation and a follow up appointment with about 50 questions from me, the date for the surgery was set for 8-10 weeks from then. It was just because they were simply booked up. Also, the best advice my family Dr. gave me was to go to the best surgeons only...she gave me the names and numbers for 2-3 of the best in our area. Why fool around over a little money with something you'll live with forever.

I've talked to 3 different women that I go to church with that have all had their tummys tucked by this guy :-) My mom had to have a skin cancer removed from the front of her leg a couple of years ago and they wanted a plastic surgeon to do it so it would leave as little scar as possible. This Dr. is the one that did her surgery so I've met him before. I wont schedule surgery unless I'm completely comfortable. I hate my stomach already I'm sure not taking the chance that he'll do something I'll hate just as much. But I sure am looking forward to a flat stomach. Its been TOOOO many years!

mamabanana~ I am sorry if I missed your first name.. I don't know the details of blue so I cant tell you if it is the same or not..

OMG.. I am not a happy person right now. I was talking to the FMIL and I told her that Phil and I were going to get another dog after the honeymoon. I then told her that we talked about adoption and how hard it would be with 2 dogs and a baby and if we were going to do it or not. I told him we would probably have to go out of the country and it is probably expensive.. I said your mom would be happy if we adopt (she spoils her only Granddaughter our niece to no end) anyway, I am telling her this and she says well dont adopt because of me. I just figured you two were not going to adopt and it is expensive would you want to spend the $.. WHAT?? DO WE WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY? This hurt me. I mean she NEVER ASKED US IF WE WERE GOING TO. It is like she doesn't care. Now, I LOVE THIS LADY more then my mother but I am hurt. It was like she was telling me that Morgan is #1 why would she want another one. Maybe I am being sensitive... Who knows.

Every other year, we'd go to the Zoo, and sometimes the Arch. Every few years, we'd plan a bigger, further trips. We're thinking of Myrtle Beach this summer. But we do love Grant's Farm! Katie- So sorry to hear about your dad's bad news. I will definitely keep your family in my prayers. Just remember to make every minute count.

Evette- You are so awesome!!

Cassi- I LOVE the honey mustard pretzels, could not have them in the house. Had a bag here for superbowl, and I just about ate the whole bag myself.

Joni- I have done taxes with Turbotax for the last 7-8 years. Bad thing is that our basement flooded last spring and ruined my copies and something happened to the file on the computer and I lost it, so big pain in the behind to get the copies I need to file this year. Almost done though. Hope everything goes ok with charlie dog today.

Britt- Maybe TO is just not the thing for you. After TO you really have to watch what you eat to keep it off and some even lose more in the days following. I would just focus on staying OP and not worry about TO. Have you ever tried doing the fast forward instead of TO?

KimMO3T- Yay! That is a huge NSV!! I would be interested in your consultation too. I will have some stuff done when I get to goal. TT and definitely getting the girls lifted.

Nicole- Take care of yourself and get to feeling better soon.

lacorso- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

WendyII- Have a super fun trip. Sounds like you will stay busy!

Nicole- I am coming to visit you and go bead shopping! We have a decent bead store here in town, but the owner is a wench and I really don't want to give her any more of my money than I have to. The next closest bead store is 2 hours away. I love going there though. I usually make a whole day out of it. We are going to the hot springs in a couple of weeks and the bead store is about 25 minutes from the hot springs, so I better be saving my pennies. DH has already been warned. When I get the chance, I will put some of my jewelry up on webshots.

Barb,
I understand you completely. We had a chance to adopt my best friends daughter's baby, but DH wouldn't even talk about it. When I finally drug it out of him why, he said that his mom told him a long time ago that if any of her kids adopted kids, they would never be considered grandkids because they are not blood. How cruel is that?!? I told him that I really didn't care what she thought and she wouldn't be around forever and it would be her loss if that was the case. It's so embedded in his head that he won't budge a bit. So I have just come to the conclusion that I will be human childless forever. :(

This happened about 10 years ago, can you tell that it still gets under my skin?!?!?!

Isn't it funny that some folks just don't accept other children as part of the family?? My dh's family does NOT accept my children -- but the baby is treated like a prince. It irritates me so much that I don't even bring my kids to holidays anymore. It's so blatenly obvious who they consider family and I won't let my kids be hurt like that.. I mean they're all MY kids... I get all mother hen about stuff like that.. ugh. Darn in-laws. :-)

Oh yeah.. Nicole - we're only staying for the day. The kids want to go up into the Arch.. we're thinking about the city Museum too, but we may not have the time. The farm is great fun (been there, done that) but the kids get to see the Clydesdales every summer -- their dad and his girlfriend run a ranch and the horses come every summer to "visit" :-)

I dont know if it is because of the non family issue or what. If she wants another Grandchild this is the way it is gonna have to be. I cant change the fact that I cant give her a blood Grandchild.

Deb: That is not right and it is selfish of her to act that way...

WendyII:
I am a stepchild and my step mothers family never fully accepted me into the family either and that HURTS.. I feel sorry for you and your kids especially. That is a hurtful thing to do.. Hopefully they will come around..... Have a great trip!

Good morning everyone!!! I have a busy day at work today, but wanted to take a minute to say hi, and to say thanks to everyone for your support on my SLOW weight loss.

Nicole - I go by Katie or Kate, I chose Kate for this forum since we already have a Katie here!!

Deb - how exciting about your tummy tuck! Sorry you have to wait for the consultation. It will be here before you know it. I am jealous.

Barb - How frustrating with your FMIL. I was a step child too and my dad later adopted us. His family is also so wonderful. It's hard to understand her line of thinking, hopefully she'll come around. Hang in there my fellow future bride!!!

Holy cow....how could I be on the board this long and not figure out that this is where all the action is???? Duh! hehehe

I'm looking forward to getting caught up on the 15 pages of posts here now, and getting in on the action. I just posted a rant on the board re: my frustration with a plan change so won't get into it here.

Hopefully NOW I'll get to know more of you!

I am trying hard to stay POP today... I want some chocolate...

mamabanana~ I am sorry if I missed your first name..

Who knows.
SHEESH I want to go eat now, I wont but I want to.
Sorry, I had to vent... ARRRGGHH~

Blue is 2.5P, 3S,3V,3Fruit, 1F,1D- isnt that the same?

WI is supposed to be today, but i woke up still feeling the effects of the brownie and cookie that i ate on my birthday, not sure if i want to embarrass myself and go....they may be changing me to a plan lower than the blue, i think they said purple, which is one less starch and 1/2 less protein...why dont they give you the option of cutting out an la lite??...does anyone know what the la lite exchange is?

Thanks....LINDA

Okay, so I have not really said much about this, but I have been a total diet disaster for the last couple of weeks. I have been hitting the gym hard 4 times a week, working with my trainer, and doing great that way. Eating, however, has been a bad scene. The food plan that my trainer gives me is just not working out. There are too many holes in it, no dairy, and you are supposed to drink their shakes 3 times a day, which to me is too much. Add the extreme desire to eat for emotional reasons, and I have really been fouling things up. I have decided to go back to the red plan, and add 2 of the trainers shakes a day. They want to see me in the 1400 calories per day range, and that will put me right there. I will also keep my fitday journal diligently, so that I can see right where I am at. I had a red plan breakfast this morning. I can do this, right? RIGHT!

Katie - You KNOW that you can do this. You just need to take baby steps. Going back to red is a good idea because you know the plan and it is enough food for you. Hopefully you can get used to it and focus on one POP day at a time.

Go Katie Go!!!! I always feel that continuing to get to the gym despite any poor food choices I may make is still a victory. Sounds like you are victorious in several ways - hitting the gym, following a plan and getting right back on track! Go! Go! Go!

I know I'm WAY behind on personals, but just wanted to jump in and say that I was down another 1.2 lbs. today. Yay! I'm almost half way there. Oh, and I'm thinking about getting Lasik. Anyone else here had Lasik, and if so, are you happy with it? Would so love to be without glasses and contacts!!

Wendy - I've kind of set Lasik as my goal reward. I've known a lot of people who have had it and love it. Of course, there's always a risk...

Katie - YES! YOU CAN DO IT! Go get em. Actually sometimes when my stress is high, it almost helps to be on LAWL. One less thing to think about. Emotionally? All bets are off, but the exercising will help with that.

THIS IS BY FAR THE DUMBEST POST I'VE EVER WRITTEN

Hi everyone...Nicole...you're so quiet today. Hope everything's okay!

I wanna go to Cassi's party this weekend; I want Katie to open up her sweet shop; I want to read Nicole's book; I want Deb to do my taxes; I want to be s student in LeaAnn's misfit class; I want to go bowling at Pearl's Lanes, I want to fight fires with Dan....I don't want to watch what I eat and I don't want to work.

I'm in a funk about everything and I know why -- cause I haven't been working out. Just not motivated at the moment. I know it will pass. It always does.

I just don't feel like working and I'm busy. It's gorgeous outside - almost 70 degrees.

Is that Borat movie worth renting...it came out on DVD today?

Katie........yes you can.......yes you can.......yes you can. You know you only need one POP day to get your groove on...........so let today be that day :) You are one of the reasons I keep going on this plan, even after I have had a bad week............so get it together girl.....today is your day! XOXO

Well, I went to my COD today........and I am down 1 lb officially since the last time I was in. I was thrilled, as I put 5 pounds on in between visits. The last time I was there was Feb 9, and that is just no good. I was going to have them measure me......but I got the ONE counselor that I don't like........so needless to say.......I skipped over on that. They did NOT take my BP either.......and the dinkis tried to tell me that maybe I lost a bit less this week becuase I had a CC meal.....and I was like, "hon, did you hear me say that I had put 5 lbs back on and now had lost a total of 6 since I was last in........" This is yet another fine example of why I do not go to my COD very often. I do like the other counselors there.........but whatever.......I'm pretty much done with them. They also informed me that the regional manager would be calling me to do the switch to LAWL online. They claimed they did not have the paper work to do the switch. I did kind of feel like I was getting the cold shoulder, and I really don't understand why. I have lost 34 lbs.........and my average is 2.27 lbs per week...........and I have paid them a ton of money.........so I have no clue why they would get an attitude with me. I told them my situation.....that I can't eat soy......and my life is just soooo busy with 5 kids, and my center is 20 minutes away........and still they were asses. Whatever. I am not at all dissing the program.........please any newbies, don't get me wrong.......I am just really really irritated right now. I hope you all have wondeful centers and wonderful counselors :)

I also took my boys to check out a mom's day out preschool at one of the local churches here..........and 4 yo DS wanted to stay today. He was sooo cute and such a good boy. You know, every now and then......they really make me look good.........and I am wise enough now to really relish those moments :) I am quite sure I will sign him up to go once a week. There were a lot of other little boys his age there.........and he just jumped right in. I think it will be a nice change of pace for him. It is difficult for me to find other kids for him to play with. Back home, I had friends and family that we interacted with on a very regular basis......but here......we are a bit lonely. And you know.......there just aren't any stay at home mom's in my neighborhood (that I know of). It's really kind of a bummer.......there are two other 4 year old boys right here on my block.......but their parents all work full time......and the boys aren't home until like 6 p.m. everday........so DS can't play with them until after they all have dinner and such.......and my DS goes to bed at about 7:00 p.m. I have tried to keep him up later so he can play more with the kids.........but he just can't take it......and also......my neighbors don't take their kids outside very often. This is quite bothersome to me.....little kids need sunshine and exercise. Anyway......this was not supposed to turn into a rant about my neighbors......LOL......I really like all of my neighbors........just wish they were home a bit more often:) So, hopefully we will get DS set up with preschool soon.......and maybe next fall, 2 yo DS will be ready too......and then OMG, yes, I will have one day a week........from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. TO MY SELF!!! Please, please, please do not let me get pregnant......LOL.

Ok, have to go change the laundry..........I hope everyone is having a wonderully POP day. I will be back soon :)
XOXO

OK, not a dumb post - I wanna do all that too! And it's -3 outside, so I just want to sit in front of my fireplace and finish the latest JD Robb book.

Didn't see Borat - DH wants to rent it though. Watched The Departed Sunday. Not exactly a 'feel good' movie! It was good though.

Cheer up! It's probably post-vacation blues. I'm driving DH mad with "this time last week we were...." and " This time two weeks ago we were...." statements. I do that for about 4 weeks until it gets really depressing.

Hey Joni............I am thinking that Borat movie ought to be pretty hilarious.......and I was only quiet cuz I had to run errands this a.m. Watch out now........cuz I will probably feel the need to make up for my lost time on here.....LOL. I want to do all the things you want to do too (not dumb).........and I hope your funk passes rather quickly. It's probably just the post vacation blahs..........go play outside for a while......then work :)XOXO

Well, I'm jumping on Joni's "bummed out" bandwagon. I just don't give a crap today about much of anything. I am managing to stay POP, but I have the attitude of "WTF for, it's not doing me any good." Bad, I know, and I know I will crawl out of this funk, but for now I'm stuck here. So, I'm lurking mostly today since I don't want to spread too much of my attitude, no need to torture you guys.

I am so proud of everyone who is losing and staying POP. You keep me from giving up because I know it's possible.

Joni--you are welcome here anytime! It seems safe to say I will have customers every day from now til the end of school! I think I have been in your funk for quite a while now--my Dr. says it's my job (undervalued, underpaid, overqualified) and all should be right with the world when that situation changes--we'll see.

Wendy--I had Lasik almost 7 years ago and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Of course there are risks and you have to sign some major waivers but that's normal. I had been in glasses/contacts over half my life at that point and was ready to see the clock at night, watch the news in bed and not worry about falling asleep in my contacts, wear non RX sunglasses (ie-cheaper)--all the little things--lol.

I'm still confused--Gold2 and Blue sound the same. If it's raw vs. cooked weights on proteins there is still very little difference. LOVE the idea of the third starch!!

Okay--Hi to all--not much play time--lots to wrap up before PE! Yeah--my favorite.

The actvity on this board is crazy....how am I supposed to keep up wit 3-5 pages of pasts a day when I only 10-15 minutes to do so?!

Had a WI this AM and am down 2.0. I thoguht I was going to either stay the same (best case) or possibly even go up (for the first time). I was feeling really bloated maybe that TOM is coming..........obviously not. However, I am told I can be *****y with the best of the them (please don't anyone take that personally!). I love you all!

Wendy - I am scheduled for PRK Lasik on May 2nd. I could not have traditional Lasik due to the shape of my cornea. I would strongly suggest you schedule and have the pre-exam done. Most places do the pre-exam for free and tell you what your options are. I am sure depending on the place, there might be a 'hard sell' after that, but I am sure you have been through that before - think LAWL! The worst that can happen is you find out you are not a candidate (highly unlikely) or you say no! And out of it you get a free exam. The place I am going really spent a lot of time going through the entire process, what to expect, etc.....I left feeling really good about it. I would have it done sooner, but I need to wait for this year's flexible spending to kick in.

OK, need to get back to work....wish me luck on my exam tonight!

Michael
