I Have YBB and cardio cabaret took me a couple of tries to really get all the steps. I am also a WATP veteran and some of the things Leslie says if you can't get a step walk to the beat of the music. If you are not able to get a step walk in place until you get to something you can do.

If the problem is a complicated step modify it. There is some weird put the pantyhose on thing and another step at the very end. I take a step instead of hop. Or I take a step to the side instead of sliding or shimming to the side.

Something else Leslie says you're not here to learn dance moves. The music is here to keep you moving at the pace to lose weight.

Learning the dance moves is cool, but remember to have fun...do the best you can...and keep moving. Maybe you stand in place and just do the hands, or do just the feet and add the arms later. Also there is no time limit on learning. It took me a good 4-5 times before I could get all the way though YBB without getting completely lost.

I happen to like the videos where there is variety and enjoying the challenge of learning the steps, but I would say any new DVD takes 2-4 viewings before I am completely comfortable.

I noticed with YBB (not sure about turbojam) there didn't seem to be a beginner modification...I find with some DVDs its nice to start out on the lower level (which sometimes isn't as complicated) and work my way up to the harder stuff.

Something else If you're not getting the workout you want because can't get the moves, maybe you should try something like WATP.

Hope that helps, feel free to PM if you wanna vent.

I just posted this on another post - with Turbo Jam, if you aren't getting the moves, it is best to stick with the Learn and Burn tape for awhile. And even if you don't get that right away, it's okay - a favorite saying of mine is when Chalene says "even mistakes burn calories". You are having so much fun with Turbo Jam that it really doesn't matter if you are doing the exact moves they are on the TV!!!! Seriously. And one day, you are going to get through the whole thing and it'll be hard to remember what it was like when you started.

Hip Hop Abs - I've only done one workout so far (delayed with my grandma's death and a laproscopy) but I did have a harder time catching on to the one I tried. I don't LOVE it like I do Turbo Jam but I think these will fit in really well with my strength lifting days - and I hate doing ab work so this will be a great way to incorporate it.

Start with Learn and Burn, then the 20 Minute TJ workout (which is one of my favorites) - from there you can move on. As long as it is getting your body moving and exercising - that is all that matters and if you can have fun doing it - it's even better and I have a BLAST doing Turbo Jam.

Good luck! Rachelle (I've been doing TJ since September 2005!)

Hip Hop Abs might be good but it's not as good as Turbo Jam in my opinion. My heartrate doesn't get as high either - but someone else said it was the opposite for them, their heartrate was higher with HHA. Some are just adding Hip Hop right after their cardio workouts. I haven't been able to workout yet so that one HHA is the only workout I've tried. You can always check in at Beachbody forums and look in Hip Hop Abs to see what others have to say.

My daughter has done both and she really didn't care for HHA. Turbo is the best . You could also try Power 90 I love this one also. The original is the best. Hope this helps Karen

I have both TJ and HHA. They are different, and I like that! I would get bored with ANY DVD if I did it day after day. I mix it up between TJ, yoga, Pilates, step aerobics, Denise Austin (many different ones!), Iron Yoga, exercise ball routines, and my newest...HHA!

I chose HHA because I really want to learn how to dance different kinds of dances. I have also noticed that dancers are in GREAT shape!!! I have become more coordinated since I began yoga, and dance will help me learn how to be graceful and connected between my mind and my body. Shawn T. is cute and funny and a GREAT teacher, too!

I just started HHA and can't wait to do it again tomorrow!:carrot:
