LA Weight Loss - St. Patrick's Day Challenge
02-15-2007, 05:12 PM
Just thought I'd start a new thread for this one.
I'm targeting 10lbs by March 17th as someone suggested a while ago. I love doing these little challenges because it really helps to keep me feeling accountable for my choices. It's like the 3x per week visits to the COD...reporting my progress and watching my progress in a short period is motivating for me.
02-15-2007, 05:57 PM
I'm in for 10!
The best ME I can be
02-15-2007, 06:47 PM
Being that I'm doing the POP challenge, this one goes hand in hand... I'll wager 10 lbs!
02-15-2007, 06:48 PM
I'm in. This will be my first challenge. Hopefully, it will help me stay on track, since I don't use a COD.
02-15-2007, 11:31 PM
OK, here's to my first challenge! Looking forward to being down 10 by St Patrick's Day (maybe sooner).
02-16-2007, 01:34 AM
Can I play? I'm planning on accumulating all of my carbs for St. Paddy's Day so I can celebrate it the way it's meant to be celebrated...well, I'm sure I'll be eating/drinking up a few carbs next week when I go away for hockey. Anyway, count me in for the St. Paddy's Day challenge!
02-16-2007, 01:48 AM
Count me in, too:) I would love to be able to say that I actually hit one of my goals on time for a change! I know it can be done!
02-16-2007, 08:53 AM
I'll try it, yesterday was only my second day POP since the other challenge started...ugh. I am trying really hard to stick to it, maybe this will be a little more motivation.
02-16-2007, 09:09 AM
I am in too!! :)
02-16-2007, 09:12 AM
I'm in, I'm in!!!!!
02-16-2007, 10:49 AM
I'm in too. I am only doing my Sat. morning WI's and I am going to make this challenge for SURE!!! Good luck everyone :)
02-16-2007, 11:07 AM
Ok.. I finally got my frakkin' ticker to work.. I'm such a dork..
Anyway, we've got some catching up to do with Michael.. Way to go, man!
Not sure how the weekend away will go, but I'm sure we'll be as good as we can be...
02-16-2007, 11:16 AM
Congrats on getting your ticker configured. Isn't is funny how you can just make the same mistake over and over and over, and then........all of a sudden.....bingo. LOL.
02-16-2007, 12:51 PM
I'm in, already made my ticker! Good luck everybody!
02-16-2007, 12:54 PM
Count me in too!
02-16-2007, 04:11 PM
Yay! I'm really excited. I think not quite making my Valentine's goal is helping to make me want this one even more.
Michael -- Wow! You're a powerhouse, nice start!
Dan -- Congrats on the ticker, I had the exact same problem with the Vday one, and FINALLY figures it out. :dizzy:
My first WI since starting will be tomorrow...can't wait!
02-16-2007, 09:24 PM
I have been watching, reading and being inspired. Count me on on this challenge!
This is my first post; what better way to get active on this forum!
02-18-2007, 10:58 AM
i'm in guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! wish me luck
02-19-2007, 10:20 AM
Okay, I'm in. Have to go on at home BNWI's again because I haven't been to the COD since last Monday. I'm starting from where I left off on the Valentines' Challenge, so I'm already down 1 pound. Yay!
02-20-2007, 09:35 AM
hey guys, i was told by my COD that is not good to weight myself everyday, i'm so use to it , is kindof hard to stop now!!!!!!!!! oh well, hope when i finish this mini chaallenge i'll be 10lbs lighter, i have my sis wedding in april and last time my relatives saw me i was almost 200 lbs, so i'm looking forward to this visit. jajajajajajaja!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
02-20-2007, 12:31 PM
I am so in. Since I didn't make my VDay challenge, I am determined to make this one. I also have my mini challenge too, so I will reach that one or both. We shall see. WAH HAA!!!
02-20-2007, 12:51 PM
Yay! W/I at the COD this morning had me down 1.8. (phew!) I really want to make a good go of this challenge. More or less to prove to myself that I CAN do it.
I can do this
02-20-2007, 02:05 PM
I'd like to participate too. I have a question before I put up a ticker though...when did the challange start? Did it start on the 15th from the first post or the day I decide to start the challenge?
When I weighed in Friday the 16th I was down 3.4lbs...do I get to count that?
02-20-2007, 03:28 PM
Well, I was only down .5 lb this morning. Good news is that my 7-day business trip was postponed, so I have a much better chance at succeeding on this challenge now.
02-20-2007, 08:24 PM
Weighed in at COD today and I am down 1.8 lbs! Thank goodness, as I haven't been feeling well, so I didn't know what to expect.
02-20-2007, 08:44 PM
Shea - I think it started 2/15 so you're good!
02-20-2007, 09:15 PM
Congratulations to all our losers in this challenge so far!! Way to go Liz, Rhonda, Shea, Paula, Sara!!!
I'm hoping for good things at the COD tomorrow.
02-21-2007, 01:47 PM
Count me in too, need something to motivate me!
The best ME I can be
02-21-2007, 05:18 PM
Blah! No change at WI today... but I guess it's better than gaining! Next WI is Friday... hope it goes better :)
02-21-2007, 10:13 PM
Hi & welcome Barb!
Amazing Kim -- Sorry for the disappointing WI, I'm sure you'll be rewarded at the next one.
I was down 2lbs today from Monday, so something is working. That puts me at .8 below my starting weight though, since I've been going steady with the same 2-3lbs for a week or more now.
02-22-2007, 08:43 AM
I did really good this week, after last day of TOM Friday I started FF on Monday, went to the COD yesterday and on their scale I was down 7lbs...woooo hoooo! Of course I know that is mostly water weight, and I will prolly be back up the next time I go in, but I was excited to see a new set of numbers on the scale...Go Nee Go Nee...It's ya BDay, It's ya BDay :cb: ...lol.
So I just changed my normal ticker to the COD Scale and changed my St. Pattys ticker to what BN scale weight at home is. All in all I think I am on a role! Well at least I hope so.
Good luck to everyone on the challenge!!!
02-22-2007, 08:45 AM
WTG Nisha! Good to see you back in the game.
02-22-2007, 09:15 AM
Thanks Cassi, it's great to be back on track! I had almost given up for a minute there. Now I am refreshed....woooo hoooo!
02-22-2007, 09:21 AM
The only way to fail is to give up.
02-22-2007, 01:28 PM
Nisha, that's a great WI. Congratulations!!
02-22-2007, 01:57 PM
02-22-2007, 02:00 PM
Nisha..congrats on your wonderfully positive attitude. That is what will continue your losses. We are soo happy for you :) It's good to feel good, isn't it?
02-22-2007, 02:39 PM

I just joined the message boards but I'd like to take part in this challenge. I've been on LAWL for 23 days now through their online service, but was on it a little over a year ago with great success. I've lost 7 lbs already and I can already feel it. I'm all in, I will be 10 lbs lighter by St. Paddy's Day!
02-22-2007, 03:31 PM
Nisha - Awesome weight loss girlire!!
Erika - Welcome! Great to have you as part of the group!
02-22-2007, 03:50 PM
02-22-2007, 05:13 PM
It feels pretty darn good I must say. Thanks guys for all your support and positive words! :)
02-22-2007, 06:20 PM
Nisha - WOW 7 lbs. That is great!! Congrats!!
Erika - Congrats on the WI as well!!!
I am back to the starting line for mine, even though I haven't moved my tickers. I am a very slow loser so I would be lucky to meet the challenge, but I am sure going to try.
02-23-2007, 11:30 AM
You may be a slow loser, but you're MY slow loser!! Love ya honey! We'll get it done!
02-23-2007, 11:46 AM
Oh, Dan, you are too sweet! With support like that there is no way Lizzy can not make it to goal.
The best ME I can be
02-23-2007, 03:33 PM
Down another 2lbs since Wednesday! I don't know what I did, but I hope I can keep it up. I'm on fire! :flame: Ok, now I need to calm down and get some work done so I can enjoy the next week... reading week starts after today!
02-23-2007, 03:59 PM
Amazing Kim, you rock! You should post some menus so the rest of us can learn your secrets. :)
The best ME I can be
02-24-2007, 10:07 PM
Not sure I have any secrets to share, but you never know :)
A pretty typical day for me looks like this (gold plan w/ lites):
Breaky- 1 poached egg (1/2 P), 1/4c Oatmeal (1/2 S)
Snack- 1/2c unsweetened apple sauce (1Fr), LA lite
Lunch- 1/2c Tofu (1 P), 1 1/2c veg, 1tbs oil (1 F) .... basically a stir-fry w/ peppers and onions and celery... and 4oz low cal Cranberry Juice (1 Fr)
Snack- 12 Grapes (1 Fr), LA lite
Dinner- 1/2c Pasta (about 1 1/2 S), 1/2c Tomatoes (1/2 V), 1c Spinach (1 V), 1/4c Cottage Cheese (1/2 P)
Snack- 8oz Skim Milk (1 D)
I'm not vegetarian, but I don't eat a lot of meat... when I do it's usually fish or chicken breast. And I drink at least 3L of water a day... keeps me from feeling snacky. In the evening I like to drink decaf tea because it seems to trick my stomache into believing it's a treat... I don't know, maybe thats just me... Seems to be working! Good luck with a POP weekend!
02-26-2007, 11:58 AM
well i was stuck for a little while, but i los another lb
02-26-2007, 01:09 PM
Another slow week for me, I lost a big .5lb. I'm definitely the tortoise in this race. :) I'm doing a TO today and tomorrow. Maybe it will help motivate my metabolism.
02-26-2007, 03:42 PM
Your not the tortoise Paula, I am now :( . I knew I was going to gain that weight back after FF....ugh. I am up 4lbs since Thursday, how sad. I have not been off Plan though so I am hoping it is temporary. Sad, sad, sad.
02-26-2007, 03:47 PM
Nisha - I completely understand your frustration. I have yet to loose any big weight on TO, but here I am...trying it again. I bet your gain is temporary, you will be back down before you know it.
02-26-2007, 03:50 PM
I hope so, the scale just seems to keep going up. Hope this is not because I have been working out, I think I build muscle quickly. Well at least I don't feel like crap...lol. Thanks for the encouragement! :)
The best ME I can be
02-26-2007, 04:03 PM
Thanks to my big date with a bottle of Smirnoff on Friday the scale didn't move either way today... Could have been worse though, considering the massive hang-over I had the next day and the sad state of dehydration my body was in... you go to see one of your fav bands and things just get out of control!... oh well, won't be doing that again for a while... hoping for big numbers next WI (Wednesday)
02-26-2007, 04:04 PM
Sounds fun Kim, I gave up alchohol for lent...woooooo hoooo!!!
Chick With Stix
02-26-2007, 04:39 PM
I lost 3.6 lbs this week to bring my challenge total to 4 lbs. 6 more to go!
02-26-2007, 06:33 PM
Way to go, Erica. You are doing great!
02-27-2007, 01:12 PM
Congratulations to all of you. The scale may not move a s quickly as we like but one thing for sure at least we work hard to make it work!
Weighed in yesterday at lunch, and I am down 2 lbs....thank goodness. I can't wait to see the 100's...
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
02-28-2007, 04:02 PM
Hey ya'll. Hope everyone is doing well today. I just finished a POP TO and I'm actually POP so far today. These challenges have really remotivated me. This morning the scale showed a 1.5lb loss, but I'll believe it when it sticks at weekly WI. :)
03-02-2007, 10:44 AM
Finally down a tad bit more on the home scale. wooooo hoooo, but I still have 4.4lbs to go to beat the challenge. I can't see that happening, my body loses weight as slow as it possibly can...lol. Not sure why, but I can say I have no problem at all gaining it back.....lol. Well congrats to all you losers, and have a great day! :)
03-02-2007, 12:10 PM
Well I am more than a bit late on this challenge but im going to join in anyway! I will get my ticker up in a few minutes and update mine. I started TO this morning so maybe that will help. The last time I did TO they had me do the unlimited and I dont think I ate enough and it wasnt a great TO and then I gained right after so that was really frustrating for me and so I did what I always did I stopped by for a little McDonalds therapy and back where I started. Well not really I have managed over th past 2 months to lose 5 lbs and keep it off even thought I have not been eating well. So today is a new day and Im going to the COD as well. Wish me luck! I going to go ahead and put the 10 lbs for the challenge but I realize that I will not make that! Glad to see that all of you are doing so well!! I will check in this afternoon and give you my new game plan.
03-02-2007, 12:39 PM
Britt - I so completely understand where you are coming from. I have only lost 9 lbs in the last 9 weeks, which is driving me nuts. We just have to be consistent and keep on the plan, we will succeed!!
The best ME I can be
03-02-2007, 01:54 PM
No change today.... I'll try to have an absolutely POP weekend and face the scale again on Monday... woohooo....
03-03-2007, 10:32 AM
Well, my BNWI was down another pound today. Yay!
03-03-2007, 02:01 PM
down two today.. yay! That green beer is gonna taste good.. lol
03-03-2007, 02:05 PM
I haven't posted this week (on this thread), but I gotta hold myself accountable, so here goes... I was UP 1/4 lb. yesterday ( I weigh on Fridays). Ugh. I had a very busy and stressful work week and did not have time to exercise. That is key for me. So, I'm just about to go out for a walk/run now and get back on track. I have 4 lbs. to go to make challenge, and I think I can do it.
Congrats to all who are doing so well... Keep up the good work!!!
03-05-2007, 02:04 PM
Well i weighed in on Saturday - up one pound - so back on the program whole heartedly!
The best ME I can be
03-06-2007, 10:59 AM
Stuck at 5lbs for the past week and and a half... getting annoyed!! So I'm doing a TO today and tomorrow and we'll see what happens. The lady at the COD (the only one I don't really like) suggested it, then looked really p****d when I told her there was no way I would pay $30 for the juice. I told her I would use canteloupe instead of juice and she looked like she was going to have a heart attack! Too bad though, my body, my money, my choice...
Anyway... at least I haven't gained and weight! and hopefully this damn TO thing will help... It's just so little food! Send good thoughts to my DBF as I'm sure he's going to feel the majority of my frustration... good thing he loves me! How is everyone else doing with the challenge?
03-12-2007, 12:22 PM
Well, I definitely not going to make this challenge, but I'm going to hang in there and keep trying. I was up 2lbs this morning at WI.
I'm so glad most everyone else is having success. Yeah you! Keep it up, I'm getting my inspiration from everyone on this site. ;)
03-12-2007, 12:27 PM
Paula.............I feel your pain :)
03-12-2007, 01:06 PM
Thanks, Nicole. I'm determined to keep at it...I'm too stubborn to give up.
03-12-2007, 02:44 PM
ME TOO........LOL. Every now and then, being stubborn pays off, right?
03-13-2007, 09:44 AM
Just finished TO, still have not seen a big loss, I BN was still the same as a matter of fact, well I know I had hit a plateau. Maybe after TOM I will lose some more, I am right in the midst of that....ugh. I'll cross my fingers that by the end of the week I am down at least 4 lbs....
03-13-2007, 11:49 AM
YES! Got it just under the wire..
Keep it up Ladies and gents! You can get there!!!
03-13-2007, 11:10 PM
Way to go, Dan!! :carrot:

03-14-2007, 06:00 PM
Yay! I hit my goal today! Didn't know if I was going to make it. Keep it up everyone, a lot can change in a matter of days. I'm definitely going to enjoy a LIGHT green beer on Saturday.
03-14-2007, 06:05 PM
Congrats, Erika :)
03-14-2007, 06:06 PM
Ohhhhhh, and Dan too.....didn't see that you made it too :) WTG!

03-14-2007, 06:51 PM
Woo Hoo, Erica!!
