I noticed that some of you were in the Biggest Loser Exercise challenge, which started before I joined in January. I was wondering, seeing that there is so many nebies here like myself, if we can get some sort of exercise challenge started. I have been exercising on my own, but it would be ag reat motivation, to have a goal or challenge to succeed at.
I am not sure on how to go about doing this, but I am open for ideas and would love to see if anyone else is in. Any and every suggestion is welcome.
How about a month long challenge where you need to log at least 20 mins of exercise per day for it to count. We're going for consistency here for starter, not trying to run a marathon. Whatever exercise you choose, just has to be 20 mins during that day. Can even be two 10 minute sessions.
See who can log the most days exercised from Thursday (I figure a lot of people will skip it on Valentine's Day) through St. Patty's Day.
That's my two cents to get things rolling. Let me know what y'all think.
That's ok... more likely scenario: We'll watch Over the Hedge w/3yo DS. It's going to be his VD present. (Something you will hopefully be doing next year )
My mom always bought us candy and a little stuffed animal when we were little. I usually skip the candy because they already get it in school, and get them a little present. DD is getting a bikini (dare to dream) and DS is getting a video.
Well-my dad still gives me VD presents . . .and I send him a card. Poor guy-he has to get stuff for mom, me, my 2 sils, and his 2 granddaughters (soon to be 3!). Now-if he would just STOP putting candy in the bag! I'll have to have my mom dig it out and throw it away before I get it-cause I gave in last year and ate in the the car on the way back home . . . .
Hi everybody!
Thanks for your suggestions.
Cassi, your 2 cents is worth a lot to me! So how would I go about getting this challenge started. Would you mind helping me out ? Everyone seems to look up at you for advice, I'm a new chick willing to get help along the way. I think 20 to 30 minutes, five days a week is reasonable, and like you said it could be broken down to 10 minutes at a time. Do you think it should be an aerobic or more high intensity (meaning exercise that will make you break a sweat) or is toning and weights acceptable? Sorry, for asking such dumb questions, but your advice is very appreciated.
By the way Juliemarie, we will be spending it at Sick Kids tomorrow running test and seeing specialists. Tomorrow marks one year exactly that my DS (now 12)had a massive seizure and was rushed to Sick Kids, where we stayed there for 16 long days. They found out that he had a blood clot in his jugular vein and that he has juvenile myoclonic epilyepsy. If it wasn't for that seizure, he probably would have not been here today as the blood would have travelled to his brain. Although he has many health issues and he has to be seen every 6 weeks or so at Sick Kids, I know that with meds and proper attention he can lead a helathy long life, God willing. So as much as I would like to say I hate Valentine's day as it holds such bad memories for me, I also love it as my son is here with me and even though medication is a major part of his life, he is here and you would never know by looking at him today, what a horrible year it has been.
