What is Hot & Healthy Challenge Chicks?
A bunch of us were all part of different challenges together, and when the challenges ended, we decided not to! So we all came together and decided to start a long term challenge group, and we called them the Hot & Healthy Challenge Chicks!

-Anyone can join the group no matter what your goals are or where you are in your weight loss journey.
-We are here to support each other, encourage each other, laugh together, and cry together.
-Our unified goal is to exercise, eat right (whatever diet plan we may each separately be following), and have fun!
-We encourage new members, as the more that join, the more friends we have to support us along the way!
-We only ask that you follow one teensy, tiny rule. At the beginning of each month we state what our goals are, and they can be WHATEVER YOU WANT!
Then at the end of the month we can share how well we did with our goals, etc. However, sharing at the end of the month is completely optional.

We can do this!!

I have thinking lately about my anniversary coming up on March 26th. I was going to make it another mini goal but it ended up being the same weight as my first goal. Oh well so much for fun haha but its nice since that would be my normal weight. The one I hated so much a year ago and am begging for now. LOL I am all happy today with this working. I seriously feel like I had to get bigger to learn to lose though. Good for the soul or something. I feel like I have the tools now, before I was blindly trying. And you all are part of that :) --Sumi

1: March 26th our 9th Anniversary - 10% or 166
2: May 6th Challenge 157
3: 10% or 150
4: 10% or 135

SD Gal - I LOVE your hair! You are giving me the courage to do something completely different. You look great!

Sharon - I check the board several times on the weekend, but this weekend my son had his wheelchair b-ball tournament in Indiana and I just got back. I actually like to post more on the weekends while I'm cleaning, cooking, etc. The computer is in the kitchen so it's easy for me.:)

Sumisan - I would find a time and a place in the house and weigh myself naked. Then you will know for sure. Carpet does not work. I also hated my original weight until I gained 10 pounds on top of it. Suddenly I was wishing for that weight. ;)

Marbleflys - It's 6 degrees here so I feel your pain. And talk about finances! The first of 5 kids going off to college and I'm just not prepared. Plus the cost of graduation. Although, my son has been through so much in life, he will be spoiled at graduation and I will do everything I can for college. I'm also taking the family on a trip to Disney World this summer. I've been saving for 4 years and want to go before my son gets to busy for us. :( Luckily I have another 5 years before the next one graduates!:dizzy:

Hello, Hello!! Looks like all is well in hot chicks section.

Stop eating- I wish my computer was in the kitchen then I could really multitask (cook dinner, do homework with kids, talk on the phone and watch the basketball game at the same time while entertaining guests, LOL). Maybe I will ask my husband for a kitchen computer for Christmas this year.:D Good luck with the college costs; I am so not looking forward to that in the next 4-5 years when my oldest turns 18. He just turned 14 saturday and I cried; he's growing up and going through puberty. It is so cute. He told me he's getting hair under his arms. I said, "How many," he laughed and said, "more than five." I said, "what 6," LOL. He laughed. My son and I have a close relationship; I hope puberty doesn't change that. I want to give him enough space, but not too much so he gets in trouble either.

Sumisan-good luck on the weight loss goals. I haven't had much luck in making goals like that; I have found that if I just tell myself that it is longterm and for the health of it, that I am losing. However slowly, but still losing and not gaining.

I did terrible on diet today food wise. My husband home after surgery has changed somewhat or maybe it is my mood. I have to get control of it before I gain everything back. I could use some support here, thanks!!

Sumi, great work with new thread. I weight myself every morning in the nude, on a hardwood floor in my bedroom. Carpet is just too uneven. Great goals.

Stopeating, you have 5 kids too, so does Jasmine I think. Anyhow that is great about your son and college. Finances for it are really expensive. Thank goodness you have a break for another 5 years before the next one goes. That is fabulous, saving for 4 yrs. for your trip to Disney. I am sure everyone will have a great time. I have a lot of respect for you saving like that, it takes alot of determination and giving up alot to be able to do that, I hope your proud of yourself. I sure would be.

Today was a good day for food, I did 2 miles on my walking tape, as well as some shopping and I was at Dad's doing some things, it can be a busy time sometimes when visiting, you end up doing little chores for him. I warmed up some soup for him and some pudding, he said it was a long time since someone did that for him. Not exactly true I did it two weeks ago, but with him having to stay sitting for most of the time, I think he finds the time long, and one day flows into the next.

Anyhow, I hope everyone has a good day and we will be joined by more people on the site again soon. Not that I don't like the people already here.

Here I am...........another small set back in the exercise dept....I took a fall Saturday, just a stupid trip that landed me on my tailbone on a ceramic tile floor. there is bruise on my backside and upper arm, nothing serious, but painful.

I only exercised 20 mins. this AM it is difficult to roll back on my wt. bench. I'm sure I'll heal as the week moves on.

I WISH i was in Mexico....I don't care if no one liked me, it's warm! (we are supposed to get snow tomorrow, yuck)

my weekend was quite boring.....too much catching up on cleaning and putting my house in order.....cos I have no time during the week.

it IS very quiet in here...everyone must be involved with their day.

Canuk and marbles:

I am sorry to hear your daughters are being brats! You'd think they would grow up some. :(

Sumi:

Thanx for all the info. That is awesome to be doing that! photobucket.com has free image hosting you just need to upload from your p.c. I need to read all that to dh. He thinks goats are mean?

Everyone else:

I will have to go back and read thru the old thread when I have time but I hope I didn't miss too much. :( Been so busy lately. Arrgghhhh I hope all of you are doing well and losing. I have gotten a bit sidetracked and been eating too much good food!! I had gotten down to 203 at end of last month and I thought I was about 215 by now. Plus my walking had dwindled down to about 1-2 days a week this month! I used to be soo good! Well I decided that If I did not step on the scale then I may weigh even more by beginning of next month if I did not take responsibility for my actions, after all I crept up to 280 somehow and it was obviously by NOT checking a scale! So I forced myself to do damage control this a.m. and was pleased to see 206!!!! Yes, I gained 3 these last few weeks but still, not as bad as I thought! Amazing how 3 pounds extra can feel like 10 - 15!!!!

I am glad though cause I am taking responsibility and am hoping to be down to 203 again soon. I really need to be doing my Fitday again. I think the problem hit besides drama with daughter when I decided to quit my multivitamin cause of the beta carotene supplement. I do eat a lot of healthy foods but it just seems hard to try to get all the vitamins just from food particularily the b 12 cause that is mainly in red meats and we eat a lot of chicken and turkey! What am I to do? SO then I look at my fitday and I obsess and see so many of my "daily requirements" I am NOT meeting and I figure, forget it all! Who cares! Unfortunately that "who cares" attitude is how I got to be 280 in the first place!, almost like if things cant be perfect then why bother? *sigh* Well I am going to do the fitday again and I was thinking of maybe a b 12 supplement but I have been reading recently that vitamins may not be doing a darn thing at all for us! Anyone else heard that? They are saying that people that actually do take vitamins are generally healthier but it is not cause of the supplements, its cause people who care enough to take a vitamin usually care enough to try to eat healthier most of the time, etc. Makes sense.

And then I truly wonder about all the RDA's anyways. ALot of the nutritionist and all have not known about all these vitamins for along time anyways. Some of these it is a pretty new concept. There was a link to an L.A. times article I should go find for ya. People have been thriving for years without being eaxact about requirements. It seems way back when people just ate what was close to them as far as food goes. Yes I do know there are important things you really need to have like carbs, protein, fats, vegis and fruits etc. But do we really need to have 100% b-12 every day? Etc.

SOme of this just gets so overwhelming! What I will try to work on is getting a good round variety of lots of different fruits anbd veggies and foods so I can try to benefit from all of them. *sigh* ANyone else feel this way?

Anyhow I have been doing alot of cooking from scratch which is why I probably only gained 3 these past few weeks. Just eating too much of it and not exercising much. I need to start doing better again at counting cals and portion control!

What I plan on making today, home made sphgetti sauce!!! The recipe calls for alot of add this, and stir this alot, then add that, and simmer, then add this and turn up heat for 4 minutes, etc! Kind of tedious but they recommend a 14' deep 10 diam pot so there will be plenty and I can freeze alot for later! I am also doing 5 pounds of turkey meatballs with lots of spices and seasonings then flash freezing. We did that last month and only have a few left. They are soooo good!!

Going to make 3 pans of lasagna and freeze two. mMMMM...I am going to try to find an awesome recipe for french bread today too. Made some more home made bread yesterday.

I hope everyone is having a great day and I will talk at ya later!!!

Sharon just skimmed over the old thread and seen you were upset about NOT losing. *BIG HUGZ* Honey you just have to let it go. ALl you can do is your best and the rest is up to your body. Have you tried measuing? I get frustrated with the scale sometimes so I have to keep reminding myself this is about health and eating right etc. EVen if you do not lose another pound you are helping your body by eating good food and exercising. The weight will follow hun!!! Make sure you take a break every now and then too. I always, even my losing 8 pound months, eat out once a week and have pizza once a month. SO don't deprive yourself or you will go nuts!!!!

I forgot to tell everyone but I found an awesome recipe for home made bread!!! I tryed it last week and it was so soft and tender and everyone just kept eating and eating!!!I will post what I wrote on my board:

Okay everyone the verdict is in!!! Yes I actually tried this the other day! Oh my Lord!!!! This bread is awesome!!!!!!! Joey was floored, so was I. This exceeded our expectations and none of us could stop eating it! There are 7 of us and we went thru two loaves and one piece out of the third one!!! Joey said he wants to call it, "Sarah's Sweet Angel Bread".
hahahaha I am so stuffed right now!!!!!!!!! I had 3 regular bread pans and used one round cake pan. I am going to be using this as my main recipe! It was so soft and tender and a little sweet but not sickly so. Oh my!!!! I am usually a huge sucker for store brown and serve rolls and these were even tastier IMO. I can happily say goodbye to white bread forever now! :)

The all wheat did just fine, I did not use any white flour, just King Arthurs 100% wheat, can't wait til I can grind my own!I used the molasses too, and I used real butter(as usual), and greased the pan in real butter too. I did melt some butter and brush it on the top before baking the way some people recommended. I even took a few pics. I know, I am a dork. Lighting is bad and he didn't use the flash but oh well. This is the one that was in the cake pan!

Marbleflys: I hope you get better quickly! I am sorry to hear you got hurt.

Jasmine :D So glad to see you getting back on track, that is the mentality we all need. Fall off then jump right back on before it gets worse.

Ok if your mean to your goat I am sure it would butt you in the rear end LOL But if you feed your goats and socialize with them everyday, they are like dogs. Seriously, if you let them they will follow you in the house, out to the garbage and everywhere. I think males can be more tempermental but we only have females LOL They are very sweet :) and are even patient with me when I milk them....which takes a very long time since I am new! They butt each other for fun and ours were both disbudded so they do not have horns (I might worry about one with horns LOL) The little on actually started growing horns anyway but they are small. We did get a puppy last year and our big goat did NOT like her. She was very protective of the little one even though she wasnt her mother. And she would knock that dog over and keep butting her. The puppy learned quick to stay away, and now that the puppy is a big dog she makes sure to go in a big circle around that goat. LOL My chickens are meaner than my goats, seriously, they squawk at me if I come in and they are trying to sit on eggs, enough to make me turn around and say forget that!

There are a lot of misconceptions about goats, like that they will eat metal and things like that. They do taste alot of things but generally they wont eat anything other than weeds, trees and hay, ok they do like the garden, and veggie scraps too. But they use there mouths to investigate things. Like they will nibble clothing that hangs down, generally they wont actually take a bite though LOL

The things I like about goats vs. cows is: 1. If a goat steps on my foot I say "ouch", if a cow steps on my foot I would say "take me to the hospital!". 2. Goats feces are tiny pellets that don't stink (think big rabbit poop) and cow poop is horrid. Again they are smaller so they also do not produce as much AND you do not need to compost goat poop, it can go right into the garden as is just like rabbit poop with no worries of bacteria! Cow poop MUST be composted!

But I have to warn you, it is a FULL time job when they are in milk. The one reason I would consider just buying milk is because you can not go on vacation with all these animals! When they are not in milk you can pay someone to come and feed them but when they are in milk you have to pay someone to feed and milk them, which is harder to find, I am on the look out for someone who can milk them, feed them and will accept the milk as payment so we can all go on vacation together, but until then we have to do it in turns. But who knows maybe it will work out better, I wont ever have to see my MIL again.

I am SOOOO JEALOUS!! When ever I make large quantities of whole wheat they come out like bricks. There is only one recipe that works for me and it only makes one loaf. This one looks pretty similar as far as the ingredients so I am going to have to try it, the one I use is a vegan recipe that stuck with me since it worked LOL change the butter to oil and its nearly the same! I will have to blame you if I end up eating a half a loaf myself though. Homemade bread is like DRUGS! I am drooling just thinking of the smell!

So what do you use the meatballs for? Plain, Sandwiches, Spaghetti, thats all I can think of? I made some killer pot stickers but only like 20 made it to the freezer, I had to do a test run of course and the family LOVED them and they were super easy, all be it time consuming and frustrating to seal and assemble. I want to do more like that, not unnecessarily OAMC but just keep healthy homemade convenience foods around. That way if I am running behind or having a low energy day I can just pull it out and cook it up super easy :) I so need a deep freeze!!!

Well today I am just kind of hanging out dreading yet another doctors appointment tomorrow. BLECK! But other than that the calories are looking good, the caramel is finally gone, which is a relief since it was putting me over on my calories. :o

Have a great one! --Sumi

Maybe Sumi and Jasmine can come and cook for me????? I'm slaving away grading these ungrateful students. (By this time of year, I hate the seniors)

the bread and gravy (spagetti sauce out there, in Jersey it's GRAVY--trust me the X is Sicilian) sound soooo good, and its a lovely pic. too. very pretty bread on a fresh towel, hot out of the oven.....ahem, that's enough food porn ladies...

Marbleflys, I am so sorry to hear you fell, the tailbone has no meat on it, so it must of really hurt. Take it easy with the exercise.

Sumi, I hope you can find someone to look after all the animals so you can all go on vacation.

Thanks Jasmine for the words of encouragement. I did go a little wild on Sat. But it made no difference. Still weighed the same today, got my aquafit exercise in this morning. I met with a dietican one on one today, she is from my doctor's office, but only there two days a week. Anyhow she thinks I need to eat more calories, which there have been days that I have been 973 or something like that, too low. She also recommended I follow the Canada's Food Guide for my age level. I said I want to eat more normal, not salad's all the time. She agreed and gave me some examples, like whole wheat spaghetti and a whole wheat dinner role. Or stir frys with chicken, vegetable lasagna once in a while, stuff like that. She wanted to measure my waist, here I am in a big thick sweat shirt, that also has a pockety to put your hands in, on the front. She measures over top of this, I asked why, some patients don't like her to touch there skin. I will not even repeat what she measured, it is a hoot though. You can be sure next time I will be in a skin tight tee shirt. ha ha! Eating went good today as well. Water not great, tea took it's place.

Sounds like you have been a busy woman Jasmine, doing all this cooking, it all sounds so good, the bread I would die for, but don't have the patience to make. Like the sound of the meat balls and lasagna as well. B12 is a really important vitamin and hard to get enough out of food, I have taken shots for it before, my dad and mom did as well. You can also buy Vitamins that have no beta caratene, usually here they are under a store name or a brand the drug store sells, also cheaper than the others.

Well they will operate on my arm March 5th (right on my daughter's birthday, but I figure since were haveing the surprise birthday party for her Feb. 24th, she should be okay with it, plus she has another birthday party for her friend on the 3, my dad's on the 4th, she should be tired of celebrating. I am not telling her till the operation is over though, she has the day off and I don't want her to spend it at the hospital, as that will be an never ending story, if you know what I mean.

I really thought when so many people did not post on the weekend that everyone was posting at a different sites and this one was just going to go by the wayside, it made me sad, I would miss you guys.
Well have a wonderful day tomorrow. We are to get about a good 12 inches of blowing snow, maybe more, I can hardly wait! NOT!!!

Sharon;

only one foot? we haven't had any snow yet this season, this will be the first sno for us, prediciting about 2-4-6-8, the weatherman doesn't know either.

BTW, I have a slew of relatives in St. Catherines,(yes, the same neghborhood as the woman Karla the murderer). I'm guessing you live *next-door*. so we have bratty daughters in common? She should know you are having surgery, but tell her it's not necessary for her to come by until you get back home.....she should bring dinner too. what are they doing for your arm?

Thanks, Sumi, i'm just a clutz, I actually tripped on a light cord (i didn't tuck away behind the nightstand properly after cleaning the lamp)! I grabbed to catch myself, knocked over BF's little valet box, fell off the bedroom step backwards through the french doors into the sunroom....I count myself lucky that I didn't break glass and my head didn't land in the litterbox!

BBL, gotta finish something....Mimi...I keep forgetting to tell you, I really like the very new do....updated and sleek.

Hi everyone! Just a quick reply. I got the stomach flu on Sunday. :( I was so sick. I'm eating toast and weak items, I'm afraid to eat, but I'm definitely feeling better than I was on Monday.

Because I started a new job last Monday, I could not call in sick so I toughed it out but it was the sickest I've been in years! I think I spent more time in the bathroom than the office but everyone was understanding.:o

Thanks for all the comments about college costs. I've got to get it finished.

I've got to try the bread recipe, it sounds great!

Sharon and Jasmine - With everything going on in your life you are doing great!

Marbleflys, I live at least 40 miles from St. Catharines and they lived in Toronto as well, probably the same distance from there as well, can't even say she went to school with her and something rubbed off, she is older, by the way the murdering woman just had a baby, don't think I will be throwing her a shower and I pity the baby.

Actually at this point I have lost track of the amount of snow we have gotten already, my hubby just said we are supposed to get up to 28 inches in blowing snow, started this morning and is to go till tomorrow around noon. Can you beat that, have you gotten any snow? I know some states have already had alot.

Darling daughter who I just got off the phone with, was as sweet as pie tonight, probably cause I have been being extra nice, don't need anymore hastles from her. I still am convinced not telling her about the operation so she doesn't feel she has to come to the hospital on her birthday, (which I would never here the end of ) is my best bet. I told my son about it tonight and asked him if he could take a half day off work to keep his dad company and he said sure so that is covered. What they are doing is replacing a prothesis (sp) that is already in there and not working and therefore I have a bone that is moving around too much and I can't put any pressure on, they will put a smaller one in, then (and this kills me) cut the other bone to match the length of the one they just fixed, so in the end I will have one arm shorter than the other. Next I will appear in the circus.

If my daughter brought dinner, it would be pizza or chinese. She doesn't cook, her fiance does. Although they sometimes cook together.

The way you described that fall its a wonder your tail bone isn't broken as well as a few other bones and you were really lucky those glass doors didn't break on top of you, thank goodness. You must be really sore.

Hubby and I just got a bunch of candles out, the way it is blowing now I would not be surprised if we lost power. We would have to make our way over in waste high drifts (I am not joking, that is what its like out) to my Dad's he has a wood stove. Hopefully we won't have too, I'm praying not to! It's suppose to be worse with the wind tomorrow, there have already been a bunch of closures announced on the tv. Looks like my kids still have to go to work, Sherry's place is a Crisis centre which has to stay open 24hrs a day. My son works for the City, don't think of have heard of them closing, he works in the office so I don't see why not. Anyhow!!!

Stopeating, thanks for the vote of confindence, we all need it now and again and I can use it right now. Sorry you got sick, it must of been awful at work for you, glad your feeling a little better. Jasmine sounded pretty good considering all she is dealing with, poor thing. Kids!!! My daughter wanted me to say this little saying to her tonight, that we had when she was little and I tucked them in, it made me howl when she asked. What a changing personality she can have.

Food was good, till this evening, then I blue it with 3 ice cream cones and I didn't exercise today either. Was busy, but could of got it in tonight, just did not bother. Some days are better than others. Well it is getting late, so goodnight, have a good day tomorrow.

Maybe it is the boy goats who are mean? lol

Those are great points! How does the cheese taste? Do you like it? And the yogurt? I know when my bro and I were little my mom said we were "lactose intolerant" and that she gave us goats milk! (I know now that alot of people are intolerant cause of the pasteurization and homogenization etc) Anyhow to this day I have never been much of a milk rinker at all but I ADORE cheese! lol Yogurt is a favorite too and now kefir but never straight, always with fruit etc. My mom had a goat when we were little but idk if she milked it or not. Hmmnnn...

Yes, try the bread! My family LOVES it! I did use real butter. We nevr use any other kind no more. Thank gosh we found some at smnart n final for $2.15 a pound and just yesterday I found danish creamery for 1.00 for 8 oz at the .99 cent store!!

Get a deep freeze! I don't know what I would do with out them. As soon as the site I got them off is up and running I will give a link. We made tiny ones and put them on our h.m. pizza one nite(still need to tweak the crust for that one) and we usually make either omellettes for sat brunch or the last few weekends we have been having scrambled eggs in my home made wheat tortillas!

Mix egg with bell pepper, onion, some cheese, and some of the meatballs thawed and warmed up and sliced up. They are VERY tasty! One nite I grabbed some cooked ground turkey out of the freezer (plain)and a few meatballs and added it all together and it really tasted good, plus a few more seasonings.

You could cook the mixture and add some to lasagna, make meatball sandwiches, calzones, etc the possibilities are endless and it gives LOTS of flavor to the turkey!

Good luck with the doc!!

marbleflys:

*mails you some lasagna* Well the "gravy" turned out awesome! I don't know why she wanted such a HUGE pot. It was only like 1/3 the way full! Oh well. Next time I will double the recipe BUT I was able to make 4 pans of lasagna! We froze 3 pans and boy was it great!!! My dh had 3 pieces!!!!!

Maybe when I am not so busy balancing 4 trays at once I can take pics! That will be so nice to have extra on hand. *sigh*

Food porn....hehehehhee I need to remember to take pics of all the cookies I am baking today! I am doing choc. chip and sugar cookies with cut out heart shapes. :D Oh and dh wanted choc. chip muffins so i snuck in some walnuts too!

I must of missed hearing about the fall! So sorry! Hope you get better quick!!!

Anyhow she thinks I need to eat more calories, which there have been days that I have been 973 or something like that, too low. She also recommended I follow the Canada's Food Guide for my age level.

Your welcome and that is WAY too low! I can lose about 2 pounds a week by eating healthy cals and at about 1700 a day and walking 60 minutes 5 days a week. The way my cals break up are 30-35% fat, 40-50% carbs(healthy carbs!) and 20% protein.

If you don't get enough to eat your body will try to keep what it has. If your body thinks it is getting plenty of nutritious food then it won't!

Even when I am losing I am eating normally with treats here and there. There are just certain things I try to never have one of them is white sugar, I use mostly honey now even in baking and no white bread.A GREAT bread to get is the ezekiel one. I have two slices of that at lunch and with 1 tbs peanut butter and a bit of honey is VERY filling!

I always have a smoothie for breakfast. Kefir plus fruits blended. Anyhow some days I will have ezekiel bread as a grilled cheese, just one though! Sometimes I will have 1 oz of cheese with low fat turkey breast and mustard etc.

A snack later is always 1/4 cup of cashews or walnuts. If I get hungry around 4:00 or joe has to work late a light salad.

Another thing that is VERY filling is chili beans! I make those once a week and have a huge crock pot full with maybe 1 1/2 or so of gr. turkey and about 32 oz tom sauce and onion, bell pepper, cumin, some pother seasonings, chili flakes, 32 oz water, lots of beans. Anyhow the math is roughly 235 cals or so and very high protein and fiber and VERY filling!!! Top with some home made salsa. Brown spanish rice is also very good for you! We eat alot of turkey(ground as well) chicken, 1-2 a week red meat. Lots of vegis, lots of onion and garlic etc. And I do eat cheese almost daily. ;)

Yeah busy but happy! :)

I may need to find another supplement and who knows if they really work or not? *sigh*

Good luck hun! I will pray! Just keep reminding us!!

NOT!!![/QUOTE]

I usually don't post at all on weekends cause dh and kids are home and we are always busy. I do try to make it by a few times a week and we are all here for each other!! *hugz*

stopeating:

Hi everyone! Just a quick reply. I got the stomach flu on Sunday. I was so sick. I'm eating toast and weak items, I'm afraid to eat, but I'm definitely feeling better than I was on Monday.

Because I started a new job last Monday, I could not call in sick so I toughed it out but it was the sickest I've been in years! I think I spent more time in the bathroom than the office but everyone was understanding.

Thanks for all the comments about college costs. I've got to get it finished.

I've got to try the bread recipe, it sounds great!

Sharon and Jasmine - With everything going on in your life you are doing great!

I hope ya get better!!! The recipe is awesome! Let me know if you try it!!!
Good luck with the college thing I never went so don't know much about it.
Thanx for the props I am actually doing better this a.m. than I thought. (more later) ;)

Canuk4:

Thanx for the props hun. Well on that front things have started settling down and she is even running around and laughing again! *THUD* Scary thing is it makes me think what does she have planned??? lol

On the scale front. Well I have been pretty good the past few days and walked monday but tuesday was waylaid(more in a minute) but still did good even though we had lasagna that nite I was great and only had one! Last nite I did the same with the enchiladas. I made two pans and did home made sauce for that and it was really good. So one pan went in the freezer. Dh loved it and had 3 pieces!!!! He said he will be fat by 40 and I told him NO!!!! hahahaha

Anyways I did brave the scale this a.m. and it said *drum roll please* 204!!!! Remember I had gotten down to 203 last month? Well I am almost back there. I wonder if alot of those "extra pounds" were just water and salt etc? My tummy is feeling great! Now on to lose some actual weight for this month!!!

Anyways: I am going to copy/paste what I emailed my ex sis in law so you all know what happened yesterday, I sent this this a.m. to her:

Hey hun, I am sending you this email cause I am really frustrated.

I will try to keep this as short as possible.

You already know what happened with the last visit we adressed that already.

Well Charlie is up to his old tricks again. I am really sick of the harassment. This guy doesn't care enough to be a dad to his kids except once a year and then when he does see them (cause someone else picks them up and does it for him) all he can do is knock me and Joe who are doing our best to take good care of them! And on top of this, call CPS with a bunch of crap that isn't true and stretching the truth at best.

Guess who stopped at my house yesterday? CPS. I wonder WHO called? *rolls eyes*

Allegedly "badmouthing their dad, the kids have to pick up cigarette butts and the kids have no food to eat and are called derogatory names and are faking illnesses"

The cps guy says this "call" seemed petty and did not care if the kids had to clean up cig butts as long as it wasn't Katy.

We already went over the "badmouthing dad" in our last call. Like I told ya Julie, I do my best to NOT badmouth him and when they ask why he NEVER comes to visit or call instead of saying its cause he is a BAD dad, etc, I say, maybe it is cause he is sick. (Basically making excuses so they won't have their feelings hurt) I used the example of the harms of drinking by using Charlie, myself, my mom AND Joe as an example to warn them. I did not single him out, I did not say he is a drunk etc. I have told the kids that all of us rarely drink at all but one of the times I had (11 years ago) I got so sick I threw up all over myself. Anyways I think you know what I mean.

As far as cig butts, Joe only smokes outside and once I don't remember which kid was goofing off and knocked the can over and Joe did have them pick up the mess but on a normal basis he tells them NOT to cause that is HIS mess.

We don't call the kids derogatory names. Obviously. We do tease each other alot and say things like, you're being a dork! "Mommy's a brat", "No you're a brat! " etc just being silly. Sometimes the kids are mean and call each other stupid or ******ed and we always lecture them about that etc.

As far as food that REALLY insenses me. I always buy in bulk and shop the good deals and when there are specials I stock up, like buying 18 chickens when they are on sale for .59 cents a pound and storing them in our deep freezer. Buying 20 pounds of ground turkey, grabbing roast when they are on sale, etc. I bought 180 eggs at smart n final a few weeks ago cause they were on sale. We are generally a month ahead in our meat supply and I try to do once a month BIG shopping and then shop weekly for fresh fruit and milk etc. Sometimes stuff is falling out of the freezer cause I can't fit any more in it. Chicken went on sale again but Joe told me not to buy any more cause we still have 12 left from last time. The kids have plenty of food to eat and eat all the time. Breakfast , lunch, dinner, snacks. I do try to watch how much they eat and am trying to teach them to find their full button. Like c.J. last nite, he will try to keep eating and eating if you let him cause he wants to be like Joe and Chris AND HAVE TWO PORTIONS . But I try to determine if he is legitimately still hungry or not , one enchilada, beans and rice is plenty for a 7 year old. Bottom line is the deep freeze is full, the fridge and freeze in the kitchen and the pantry and the cupboards, etc. *sigh* I can't really fit anything else in there!!!

The lady looked and told the guy, they got plenty of food! And I didn't even show her the deep freeze.

The kitchen was spotless cause that is an area I am really picky about, thank goodness, I graciously invited them in to sit at the table. The front room looked normal, clean but a few things laying around, back pack, a toy, some shoes, not bad.

Thank goodness my kids set them straight. They were all clean and nicely dressed(just got home from school).

The cps had asked what we do for punishment for them and I told them we take their toys, ps2 's away, etc. If we have to we spank them with a hand or a belt once or twice. Kass is too old for spankings.

The kids verified that separately and we passed everything with flying colors etc but I am so mad!! I am tired of having to deal with all this garbage. Like I told my friend, he doesn't give a darn to call or see his kids except once a year and when he does all he can do is try to call their mom names and pull this stuff. I am sick of it. He just abandons his kids he should be glad they have a mom and a new stepdad who actually take very good care of them. (I know he wouldn't be happy about Joe etc, but ya know what I mean)

The cps guy said we were fine and he would put that all in the file that the allegations are not true, the kids are clean , are wearing nice clothes and are well fed and are not being verbally abused. I asked him if anything can be done about people filing phony complaints and he said something about him being an officer of the court and they would keep an eye on "who" it is the complaint comes from, etc.

I am really mad and tired of his harassment. I can't tell you how many times he has pulled these stunts and even bringing the cops to my door on the day we buried my mom with phony allegations. He even called in and reported my moms car stolen and the cops took it away til we could prove it was ours, we did get it back eventually but that took up $600.00 in cops fees and impound etc around x~mas time! We finally got rid of the car when it wouldn't pass smog. That was Money that was taken away from our kids one x~mas (2005), we were so broke cause of that all we could do was spend $20.00 on each child that year.

Charlie is hurting our kids by his selfish acts. Julie I am really sick of it. I know you were trying to help him see his kids out of love and care. But it seems he is full of hate and selfishness and trys to twist around your best intentions to try to cause harm for me and the kids.

I have never done anything to try to repay evil for evil and I lay this all In God's hands. But seriously, I am sick of it. Charlie is "eligible" to see his kids every other weekend. But I think you should let him figure it out and do it himself. You and Johnathon and your boys are always welcome to have them but I really question how good of an idea it is helping HIM to see them. It doesn't seem to me he wants to set a good example or be a positive influence in their life.

I didn't want to call you cause it helps me to put all my thoughts on paper. You are welcome to call or email me back though. I didn't want to send you this email but I wanted you to know what is going on. The legal aid was supposed to be up here a few days ago on Monday but it was a holiday so we have to wait two more weeks to do anything further. I hope you understand where I am coming from and I know this isn't your fault and I am just ....frustrated.

Love Sarah

WOW Jasmine you have really had your hands full, like I said before your X and mine could be twins, or better yet clones. I am so sorry you had to go through the cps people had to come and bother you again, but again you proved him wrong. Even if they move on, they never let you or the kids alone. Boy they really were thorough with you and the kids, thank goodness you have taught the kids to tell the truth, they must love you and Joe one heck of a lot. Not a bad word was said. I think your letter to your X sister-inlaw layed in on the line, you were honest and told her just how things are and the consequences of your X badmouthing you etc. I think you covered everthing really well and I think she should understand where you are coming from. If she doesn't then that is her problem.

Thanks for the help with telling me what your eating, to help me try and get on track. I know the calories some days were really low and too low, and now I realize 1200 is to low for me, don't really know what or where I should be at though, I guess if I just follow the guide eat 3 meals and snacks I should be okay. Thank-you for the prayers re-my operation, I am just glad they are going to get it done and I will be praying it works this time.

I can't believe all the cooking you do, you must really like it, personally I hate it, my favourite is the Barb-Q then hubby does the cooking of the meat at least and I don't have as much to do. I guess cause I am older and cooked for a long time and always had the big family dinners 23-27 at my place, that now I have no interest which can be a problem when you are trying to eat healthy and don't want to be eating salads all the time.
I have not done well with my eating today either, don't know what is bothering me and why I can't get down to doing it right, I seem to do well for part of the day, then blow it. I will try again tomorrow. At least I got my forty minutes of floor exercising done and I swept and washed the kitchen and bathroom floors, then cleaned the bathroom and dusted my bedroom, so I got a little more exercise from that, not enough to make up for the snacks I ate though.

Hope all is well with everyone else. What happened to the Valentine challenge? It just dawned on me. I don't even know how it works.

Glad Kass is laughing and back to her old self, I do know what you mean by waiting to see what happens next! You can tell from my posting re-my daughter.

Sumi hope your feeling okay. Marbleflys how is how is that tale bone? I am sure you are still sore. Stopeating are you feeling better? SD Gal where are you? Took off with that new haircut right! Hi to everyone else as well, Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

SD Gal where are you? Sharon S.

Hello girls, every bloody time I've tried to post this week I get timed out or something and it won't post my post.. so.. I just stopped trying. My stars that just infuriated me!!!

I'm up just a little this week, by something like .2... I'm angry with myself that I've not walked in over a week. Steve is sick and I'm not feeling so hot myself now. I've made an appt for my yearly PE for mid-March so I'm going to work my arse off this next 30 days. I know for a fact my weight hadn't changed these past two years, I sat at 168.. now I'm under by quite a lot and I'd like to see 150 (that's just 7 pounds) by March 15th. So, that's my new goal. Its also my TOM.. so.. I ate banana bread *homemade* (wish smart balance) and chocolate covered strawberries and *sigh* Pepperidge Farms coconut cake (just a slice) YESTERDAY. daaaang Michelle! LOL ;)

I'll be walking four miles after work today because dangit, I feel like SUCH a schlepp!

I promise tonight when I get home & after dinner that I'll catch up on everyone's news..

Big hugs.

Jasmine!!! WHEN did you marry my first X-husband???? that's strange, I never thought he left NJ.....:D Then Sharon married him after you divorced him???? or was it vice-versa.

(and people wonder WHY I never remarried)!;)

Sharon, That murdering woman HAD A CHILD???? geeze, there's a vote for mandatory sterilization...at one time courtTV did a documentary of her, she's a total socio-path....I bet her husband sleeps with one eye open and a knife under the pillow....(that's just an old sicilian saying):D

I'm feeling much less sore today and even exercised for 20 mins....I hate losing momentum which causes loss of motivation.

Sharon, I hope your surgery goes well and you have less pain, better use of your arm, I'm sure you spoke at length with your orthopod, he/she knows best and is an arm/hand specialist? Maybe your son will tell DD and I'm sure she's compassionate. I hope you have a quick recovery and fast PT road to full use....you have MY permission to eat ice-cream (for medicinal purposes of course)

I won't complain about my snowfall here any more....I detest the cold weather, it makes me itchy, dry and chapped....I don't think I would last in the North.....I'm too *fragile*:?:

BBL, busy....prepping for exams.

Hope everyone is doing well this evening.

Sorry Jasmine about the ex. I would be so frustrated. My dh goes to court again Monday about the ex and we don't even know what for! Just got a notice to appear. You get so immune to it most of the time and then furious.

Sharon - People were posting on another thread for the valentines challenge. I had a goal to lose 8 pounds from Jan 1 to Feb 14 and I lost 3. I just lose sooooo slowly, but you know it's still a loss. I think I will try to lose the other 5 by St. Paddy's day. Do you have a goal you would like to join me by that day? Just let me know.

Tomorrow evening a group of my new colleagues and I are going out for dinner and dessert at one of the homes. It's a group that's been meeting for awhile and they invited me. I was very honored. Still have the bug though and not 100% but nothing compares to how bad I felt earlier this week so I won't complain!

My youngest was home for the second time this week. I took him to the dr. today and he has an ear infection along with a monster cold! He looks so miserable. He is actually 12 but he is so tiny and looks like he's 8 and I just have this urge to protect him from everything. We have meds now so it should get better.

Well over a month ago my dr. made me an appointment to see an oncologist sp? because by thyrogloublin is 117 when it is suppose to be under 10. I have way too much protein but the general dr doesn't know what it means. Well my appointment is next Thursday and I get a message today saying that they need to cancel because the dr. will be gone and to call my regular dr to see what to do!!!??? What! I understand schedules and all, but what I don't understand is that they didn't try to reschedule, they told me to call my own dr. I'm so frustrated, I have been really waiting for this appointment and now I don't know when or who I will see.

Anyway it's after 10 p.m. here and my bed time is 9 p.m.:D I'm still at work, but wanted to check on everyone before I left. Have a good night.

Hi everyone, don't you love those X's they never seem to get out of your life, (till they die, like mine did) then they screw there kids with the insurance money and give it to one, when there is three of them. Hate is a good word to describe them, although I could still think of other unprintable one's.

Stopeating Like you said, a loss is a loss, I didn't know about the other thread, anyhow I don't even know what I weighed Jan. 1st or so, so I would be cheating if I put down a weight loss, I am back up to 230, not surprised, can't seem to stop the nibbling, I know I have to lose, for my knee surgery and I want to be much thinner for my daughter's wedding, just can't seem to get my head in the game again. I didn't go to water aerobics today as I feel like I am getting a cold dh has one and even though were sleeping seperately he tends to breath on me, helping me with the computer, whatever. I can't afford to get one as I have to visit my Dad and he can't afford to be coughing with his sore back. (As if I am the Almighty and can prevent it, anyhow).

Stopeating, you should not still be at work, if you continue working overtime the will come to expect it and unless you are drawing a huge salary or get time off or paid for this, don't do it, you will catch up eventually. I am talking from experience here and in the place I worked they did not realize I was doing it and did not even appreciate it when they found out. I am sorry your son is sick, as for protecting him, I understand completely. Last year when my son was bringing his friends to the cottage and I was already there, he warned them to be aware I was over-protective of him (he is only 28), what can I say, he is my baby.
That is not right about your dr. appt. they should of asked you to call them and rescheduled the appt. I would call them and see what they say.

Marbleflys, you are funny! The husband is also in jail and protective custody at that, because of his crimes. They figure when he lived in Toronto he had been raping women for years. Nice Aye! Why would they do a documentary on a person as evel as her? They did a movie too, I think it flopped as it sure did not go over here and I heard very little about it since it came out last summer. One of the girls that was killed, her father came in to my dh's work quite often, he was a salesman, poor guy was so broken, I would not know how to go on after something like that.

Thanks for your thoughts on the arm, the guy I am seeing is one of the top men in here and since he concurred with the other top notch fellows, I have to trust what he is going to do will be the correct procedure for me, this is an unusual case for them so I am told. I have to have faith and I do, just a little self concious in regards to the results, but will wait and see. I really do just want use of my arm again, it is getting worse and harder to pick up even a pillow. My son and daughter are having dinner next week, just the two of them, so he might tell her about the surgery if he thinks of it. He plays everything pretty cool, but sometimes finds it hard to keep a secret.

SD Gal good you got on again, slip ups are the norm, your human.

Where is Jasmine and Sumi I wonder, I miss when they don't post.

I have just had some bad news, my mother's sister passed away tonight. Again I will have to tell my Dad, He just talked with her on Sunday, it is going to be a shock. She was a real sweetheart too! We will miss her dearly. I last saw her in June, the day before a wedding, she knew I was self-consious about my weight and when I was leaving the hospital, she called me back and shook a finger at me and said "Remember", we had talked about my weight often and she said it doesn't matter, you matter.

With that I will say goodnight.

Wow, everyone must be having a really busy weekend! Well I'm included in that category also, but I did want to drop in and say hi. I put in 8 1/2 hours yesterday and I'm going in today. Last night and today I'm working on financial aide forms. My husband is cleaning the house, doing laundry, and taking the kids to get a haircut. Bless him!

Sharon - I am salary at my new job so I don't get paid for working over, but at my old job they are paying me hourly to train the new person, so I am making extra money for the last two weeks. I like that!;) But I'm also glad it will end in two more weeks! The really great thing is they hired a great friend of mine to take my place and I don't mind helping her at all. She will officially begin tomorrow, but I worked with her yesterday and it's going to be great! We think so much a like.

Well my dh is going to court again tomorrow! Our attorneys are actually arguing what the first official day of school is. :dizzy: Her attorney says it's the last day of August no matter when it starts, ours says no it's the day school starts. Our attorney was so ticked that he is going to court and not even charging us! Have you ever heard of that??? It has gotten that bad.

Anyway, I need to do my taxes today so I can fill out the fed financial aid form. But I did get two scholarships done and need my son to sign them so they can be off in the mail. There is light. :carrot:

I haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained either. I ate horribly for a week, but then I got the stomach flu and it balanced out. :dizzy:

I will do better when I add exercise to my diet again. I will March 1st. Somebody offered me an elliptical for free but I have to haul it out. They only used it a few times and it wasn't for them. I will try to get a couple of guys to help me.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Here I am folks. Sorry for disappearing again. It's been a hectic last couple of weeks. I GOT A APARTMENT!!! They are repainting and repairing right now and we (me and my friend Felicia) can move in this weekend! I'm so excited. I still have to come over to my mama's house at least weekly to get on the computer and do laudry for now but Mama doesn't mind. I definitely know my eating will get MUCH better when I'm in my own place. I got into a car wreck this morning. This heifer ran a light and smashed into my mama's car on the passenger side. I was the only one in the car, thank god. Stupid woman.

JasonsLeaa, fabulous to hear about the new apartment, it will be great and you and your friends will love it. Sorry about the accident this morning, hope you are okay. Sorry it was your mom's car, I am sure you feel bad. But it wasn't your fault, so I am sure she will understand.

Stopeating, I was too upset before I left for Detroit to answer your comment, my concern was the fact you had the flu and went to work due to the fact it was a new job and you were feeling better, but it seemed to me from what you said, not 100 %. I was concerned you were working late at this time and you mentioned it was past your bedtime. I was answering to that and thinking it was the new job, not still they old one, which I did know you had made a commitment to training a new person for your old job. I am not rich, I do understand how making more money can help you out in a number of ways, especially with college and graduation coming up. So please now I hope you will be able to understand my comments! I have always been a compassionate person and care about others.

I am home from my aunts funeral, which even for her age and disease (Parkinson's, which my Mom and her brother also died of complications from) it was difficult, each diocease does it differently, this was the hardest I had ever been through. At least my aunt, unlike my mother, only lost her voice a week before, my Mom had been at least a year, if not longer, as well as she choked on everything she ate. Not good memories, when there mind is there, but they can only look with there eyes. This is just to difficult tonight and I am sure not something others want to read!

I did so so with my food, it is hard on the road and being in a motel. No exercise since last week sometime. Water way too low.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.

My daughter's surprise party is this weekend, her finance` and I are doing our best to have what she would like for a party. She is still saying she wants to come here on her birthday, for dinner, that one would be hard to do considering I will be in the hospital and hopefully re-covering from my arm operation. I am planning on my son or husband delivering dinner to her at her place, later in the afternoon. I keep listening to her and what she would like for dinner and just saying, yes dear! Usually a husband statement! I want her to enjoy her birthday and her day without worrying about me, she was there for the first one of these operations to support her dad and me, this time I think her brother can do it.

Have a great day tomorrow ladies.
