Default Food Scale broke, what should I buy to replace it?

My loyal food scale, which is at least ten years old, has died. It was a great piece of equipment.

I would like to replace it with a digital food scale. Can you please tell me what to look for in food scales?

I did a search first and could not find that info on the site.

Thank you.

Any simple digital scale will do. Preferably one that does both g and oz, although mine will no longer switch.

I wouldnt spend too much money, honestly they all work pretty well.

What ennay said.

Grams are as important as ounces.

I agree get one that has gram and ounces. The one I bought came with a cup measure to use with it, but I never use it. I just weight my stuff out in any random bowl, plate etc. So I do not think that is an important feature. I bought mine from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Oh, I also like that my scale plate comes off. That way I can put it in the dishwasher if I spill stuff on it.

Don't forget to add in the weight of your random bowl, plate, etc.

Most scales will zero out after you place the plate or bowl on it. It's great because you just add food, zero out, add more food, zero out. You can calculate an entire meal on one plate.

Five days, 20 hours, 4 minutes. 116 cigarettes not smoked, saving $35.02. Life saved: 9 hours, 40 minutes.
