Boy is dad pumped, I am from Chicago and we are so excited!!!!!!! 21 years!!!! Man it is so exciting!!!!!!!Huge bears fans in this house, my dad was born and raised in the city so the way my dad talks is he really does talk like the SNL bears fans !!! Its so funny cause he cant help it but thats how he talks , you know Da Bearsh !!

gayle- Oh I know that they more than appreciate it I just get my woman days where I get upset for no reason. My mom lways says its ok women have an excuse to change their emotions , unfortunatly we are either in pms mode on our period , getting over our period or enjoying our 4 days of no menstraion before it starts all over again. haha. its so true!

Shelly- yeah thats me , I dont knwo I was being creative and made an italian flag around my photo !!

02-04-2007, 07:32 AM
Sherry-It's so wonderful to see you back in full force, creating the new thread! I am so proud of you for joining back in.

Allison-I have been judging the vehicle problem for probably 7 years. That is fantastic about going to world! Totally amazing! Wayne, the creator of the problem I judge always comes and stays with our problem. My DD is going to go to state to judge. I never have. Actually, this stuff is really way beyond my intelligence. I just kinda fly by the seat of pants at judging. I am a problem judge, Becky always does style.

Good Morning!

We have been praying for snow for so long here.Well Friday we got enough to close the schools and by 12:00 it was gone! LOL. This morning we wake up to a very nice dusting of snow. It's so pretty but suppose to be gone by noon. Why can't we have snow that sticks around for a few days?! :snow4:

Vouge....We're a big die hard fan of the Colts here!!!! Gotta love our Payton Manning TN guy!!!!! :crossed:

Shelley...Did Becky invite you to the party??? (or all those others?!) Yep...It's been so long since I started a new thread, I almost forgot how! I'm glad to be back too...thanks!

Weigh-in today: Down 1lb. So I'm at 6.8 hopefully gone forever! It's been coming off so slow this time.

Have a good day all!

02-04-2007, 10:25 AM
WooHoo, Sherry!!! You are doing it the right way!

02-04-2007, 11:16 AM
Sherry ~ You're welcome to any and all of my snow and cold! It was zero here this morning and we have about 4 inches of snow blowing around. It's miserable out there!

Congratulations on your loss! You're doing it the right way...keep it up!

Vouge ~ That is you in that picture? Wow, I thought it was a pic of a pop star or someone famous! Great job!

We're going to have a house full of family tonight. I'm making chili and cornbread and then brownie sundaes for dessert. Not diet friendly, but what the heck, tomorrow is another day. Watching the game should be interesting...Tim is cheering for the Bears and Shawn is cheering for the Colts. I guess that means at least one of them will be happy tonight! I just watch for the commercials, so makes no difference to me who wins. ;)

Have a good day everyone!

02-04-2007, 12:35 PM
Sherry~WooHoo on the loss! That is wonderful!

Shelley~I know what you mean by things being over your head in intelligence! Some of the things the kids come up with in OM! My DD tried the vehicle problem in 4th grade but didn't get too far. In 5th she did the structure problem where the structure gets more and more weight added to it. Her year, the structure had to have a weak point--an Achille's heel. The little play they did to go along with it was titled Achille's Seal and it incorporated a seal, some sailors and I don't remember what else. So creative! DD attempted a couple times to do OM, but they didn't get too far. Being an OM coach is a tough job!

vogue~go Bears!!!! We'll be rooting for them here.

Suzy~we're having a little party here today. Just the in-laws. I'm making turkey soup and a lower fat version of a famous dip I make. Everyone loves the dip, and I'm making it with Z Trim and substituting TVP "sausage" for the real thing. We'll see how it turns out. I've already determined how much less it is in calories and fat.

Everyone have a great Super Bowl Sunday!

02-04-2007, 01:32 PM
Vouge...I forgot to ask: How do you make the wheat pasta w/ prosciutte & basil? It sounds heavenly. How many calories? Also...saying a special prayer for you Grandfather.

:cheer: :cheer:GO COLTS!:cheer: :cheer:

02-05-2007, 03:32 PM
Pasta with prosciutto and basil kind of sound like pasta carbonara. Proscuitto is a ham product right? Pasta carbonara is on my list of things to make this week or next--I just need to pick up some lf bacon, or perhaps I'll try it with proscuitto instead.

02-05-2007, 05:49 PM
Sherry- I dont even have words to describe my sadness today. Just Kidding! Its not that big a deal , bears played like crap anyways so w/e colts deserved it. Thanks for the prayer, no its a lean gourmet meal , mmm it was so yummy, you can get it in the freezer section for like 1.00! only 270 cals. Hey great job on the weight loss thats more than I have to say.

Suzy- What? hahah my 7th grade english teacher told me once when iw as sucking up to her " Flattery will get you very far in this world , but not an A in my class. " Yeah thats me in the pic. Yeah yesterday was NOT diet friendly in my house but I ask you this I'm italian , we like to eat , have you ever heard of a skinny italian? haha no!

Alli- Ya , Im a bears fan to the grave win or lose , it was how I was raised. Like I said , it was acually a lean gourmet meal that cost 1.00 and was really really good. Yeah I have to get out my italian dictionary or call my grandpa but I think that prosccuitto is italian for ham , I know panchetta is italian for bacon if that helps.

02-06-2007, 09:57 AM
Hey everyone!

I've been sick as a dog for the past week or so! I actually started feeling better Sunday and came in to work for a while yesterday (my day off) because I missed so many days last week. I didn't check in yesterday because I was in such a good "work groove" and had to take advantage of it before it went away! :)

Sherry--I'm so glad you're BACK!!! I missed your banners and sparklies in the new threads! I never could figure out how to do any of that creative stuff!

My team didn't make it to the Superbowl (I'm a Cheese head!!), so I cheered for Indianapolis because of Mr. Manning. He's a fellow southerner, ya know. I kept track of he and Eli both through their college years.

Anyway, just wanted to drop by so y'all'd know I'm alive!

P. S., finally broke through my 10-pound barrier!!!!!! I've lost 4 more pounds!! (I think part of it was because I was sick, but I'll take it!)

02-06-2007, 10:19 AM
I'm sorry that you've been sick.I hope you get to feeling better real soon! :getwell: I also wanted to thank you so much for all the work you did while I was away trying to get my life back together. You do an awesome job! Now that doesn't mean that you can't continue! It will take BOTH of us...ok??!! I need you! :D CONGRATS on the weight loss!! YOU GO GIRL!! :cp:

I'm home from work today. After work yesterday, I FINALLY went to the dreaded doctor. I haven't felt well for a week or longer. I have a bad bladder infection (my 1st) and I have blood in my urine. So with a shot,2 precriptions later...I'm home but just for today! You all know me....I can't lay around long!!

Have a good day all....Love & kisses.....

02-06-2007, 11:03 AM
Cheryl~sorry you're sick but congrats on the loss!!!

I feel quite proud of myself for coming in at 1405 calories yesterday. So far, I am on track for that or less today (although I didn't exercise today--but perhaps I will this afternoon).

02-06-2007, 04:06 PM
4myself- The fact that your a cheesehead and Im a bear should give enough reason 4 me to never talk to you again! Just kidding your to nice , I wouldn never over a dumb game! The flus going arund I was sick last week , get better soon. Hey 4 lbs awsome , I am waiting a week from monday to weight in , I plan on losing 2 lbs a week so well see. Ive been good.

Allison- Great job , I too came in with low calories , I think I was somehwere around, 630 which is around where I am aiming if I want to lose 2 lbs a week. I plan to do something cardio wise this afternoon.

02-07-2007, 06:21 AM
Cheryl-Glad you are feeling better. The weight loss may be partly from being sick. I would give it a week before you find out if it is a true loss or not.

Sherry-I'm sorry you are sick. I know how busy your life is, and you hate to be down at all! I hope you weren't cleaning on your sick day. How is school going? Are you still going between 2 schools?

Vogue-I'm so proud of you posting on the exercise thread!

Allison-Good for you staying on target.

02-07-2007, 08:14 AM

02-07-2007, 10:47 AM
Good morning everyone!

I did okay yesterday. Didn't get any exercise in, but my calories came in at 1285......and then I had a glass of wine.....oops. Now I'm paying for that wine with a splitting headache. Aargh!

My eating should be good again today. Busy day today--I'm off to do my puppet show this morning, then work, then take DS to Karate. DD has a concert tonight that we're actually not going to go to. Not that we dislike her concerts, but it is nice that we don't have to do this one. Life is so much simpler now that she can drive!!

02-07-2007, 03:34 PM
Yesterday my calories were 913 . I was so craving a peice of superbowl cake but I ended up not to, i said ,whens it going to stop amy? this war forver , your not even hungry you juts want cake. no your not doing it. Today I had the same craving and so far so good, I think I have lost an or or two off my waist already so I dont know!

02-07-2007, 04:36 PM
Amy, just jumping in here to say I don't think your eating enough calories. You are a growing teenager, and your body requires more calories then you are currently taking in. Anyone else care to jump in with feedback?

02-07-2007, 06:45 PM
I agree 900 is not enough calories. Can't have you getting sick on us!!

I have been pretty good and lost a pound this week. I have been going to the gym or belly dance class at least 4 days a week and now, I miss it when I don't do something.

As I have been super busy, I am just going to say hi to everyone, I am reading but time is getting away from me, so I have to get going!

02-07-2007, 07:08 PM
Diets less than 1200 calories per day are recipes for disaster. You severely limit yourself and you feel extremely deprived and you can only go for so long and then you jump off the wagon and go for a full out binge and gain back anything that you've lost (and sometimes more).

A healthy attitude toward losing is what is needed. You didn't gain weight overnight and you certainly are not going to lose it overnight either. Set a realistic goal (1-2 pounds per week) and then set a date in the future when it is realistic to reach that goal. My goal is 8.5 pounds right now. At the rate I am losing (about .5 per week) I should be able to attain that goal in 17 weeks. 17 weeks from now is the 1st week of June. Sure, I was hoping to lose the weight by my 44th birthday, but it ain't gonna happen. I can try, but realistically, I know I can't. But, I can lose 2.5 pounds by my birthday and I certainly intend to do so.

This is no longer a diet for me. This is a lifestyle.

02-08-2007, 06:39 AM
Vogue-Ditto on what Gayle, Allison, and Debi said!! Eat more, but make sure it is healthy and filling foods, such as fruits, veggies, whole wheat pastas.

02-08-2007, 08:20 AM
thanks for caring but I am close to eating at least 1000 a day Im not on stravation mode if I was I would be comsuming close to 400 a day. My goal is 2 lbs a week by june I should be down at least 20-30 lbs which is my main goal. I am eating healthy not a diet but eating healthy. I eat mostly fruits and vegtables, I keep a chart of what i eat and determine what I need to eat more fruits in a day or more veggies. Plus I am going vegitariran . I wasnt cause of my low carb before but not I changed my diet and I want to eat more healthy.

gtg school , thanks for caring everyone though.

02-08-2007, 09:44 AM
Vouge, you joined a group with some caring mothers here, and guess what? You are younger then some of our own kids so we feel like we need to protect you from some of our own experiences. If you feel like you are following a decent plan, then I bet it is, you are very intelligent and sensible. I would give a word of caution though and suggest to keep your protein up since you are giving up meat. Does this include eggs and poultry? Also, remember a few weeks ago when you had a dizzy spell? How many calories had you consumed that day? Protein will make you feel more satisfied and will keep your body running. Off the lecture box now... LOL!

02-08-2007, 10:31 AM
( ( Anybody want some snow? It has snowed everyday for weeks. We keep digged out the squirrel and bird feeders and each day they are covered again. (
Just a word of caution - do not overdose on Weight Watcher chocolate. I was up most of the night with the trots. My own fault.
Amy- I agree with Gayle, don't forget some protein. Even fat free cheese, egg whites, beans etc. your body needs them for fuel. You are one determined young lady and we are all so proud of you. ( (http://*********************************************************=ZSzeb098_ZNxmk042YYCA&utm_id=7926)

02-08-2007, 02:01 PM
Janice~no, you can keep your snow!! Sorry to hear about the chocolate problem. Are you sure they don't add ExLax to the recipe? LOL!

Another day on plan yesterday! Actually came in under 1200 so I had a handful of raisins for dessert! Okay, who is going to kick my butt--I haven't exercised since Monday....

02-08-2007, 07:56 PM
I will take any and all snow! I really love snow and this winter has been a big disappointment in that department. We do have some forecasted for next week, so I have my fingers crossed!!!!!
Went today and was specially fitted for sneakers. I have very wide feet in front with very narrow heels. Can never find sneakers that my heel stays down in. Usually my heels come up and out of the shoe as I step and I end up with bad blisters. This place was great and fitted me and I ended up with Ryka sneakers and an insert for the front of the shoe as it raises the front of my foot and my heel stays down when I walk. I will test them out tomorrow but in the store, which I walked around a few times, they were great!!!

Amy, we care, don't want you getting sick!

02-08-2007, 09:17 PM

Debbie - ( Sending you buckets of snow. (http://*********************************************************=ZSzeb098_ZNxmk042YYCA&utm_id=7926)

It's been a week from "youknowwhere"! My MIL (AKA Wicked Witch of the East) passed out in the drug store and was taken by ambulance to the hospital on Monday. The doctors suspected a possible blockage in her heart, so yesterday she was transferred to a different hospital for a heart catheterization. It showed no blockages, nothing wrong with her heart at all (I was surprised to find out that she even had a heart) anyway, they made a few adjustments in her medications and discharged her this morning without any restrictions, so things are now getting back to normal around here.

Vouge ~ Everyone is right...900 calories are not enough to get you through the day. You need at least 1200 calories a day and if you are going to go with a vegetarian diet you need to make sure you are getting enough protein. You were right to skip the cake, but try adding a protein snack like lowfat cottage cheese (1/2 cup 100 calories), a hard boiled egg (90 calories), or peanut butter (1 tablespoon = 90 calories).

02-08-2007, 10:46 PM
Janice...PLEASE send TN some snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My bladder infection is doing a lot better. Going to lay down and watch "House Hunters" or "Nashville Star."

Talk soon...

02-09-2007, 12:35 AM
Suzy, I got the giggles over you complaining about MIL. You are such a sweet person, I find it hard to believe MIl could be a butthead toward you. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Deb, keep us informed how the shoes fit. I need a decent, reasonably priced pair.

Sher, glad your feeling better! I have missed every Nashville Star episode.

Did I tell you girls I LOVE my job? I never knew I could have so much fun working with Dementia clients. 65-75% of my clientele has been diagnosed Dementia. I am TIRED when I get home from a few short hours at the liquor store and really tired after working 8-9 hours straight at the beauty shop, but it is a different tired, I could do it every day. After just this short time, I feel like I just fit in.

02-09-2007, 06:40 AM
Debbi-I always heard Rykka's are good for narrow heels. Enjoy the new shoes.

Suzy-:) So sorry about evil MIL. You do remember we have that in common? I do hope she is better soon, so that she can make your life he!! again.

Sherry-I love House Hunters too. I'm glad you are feeling better.

Vogue-I agree with everyone. Legumes and rice make a complete protein, if you are going vegetarian. I did it for a year when I was about 25. I would watch everyone eating big juicy steaks at restaurants, and I would order a plain baked potato. I'll never forget that. Actually, I really enjoyed not eating meat.

Janice-Snow?? The only time I ever saw the stuff was when we visited Colorado.

Gayle-We are a bunch of mother hens, aren't we?

Turns out Mike blew a disk in his lower back. He had an epidural block yesterday and has to go to PT, get an MRI and go back for another block next week.

02-09-2007, 10:25 AM
Well its morning and guess what?? Its snowing again! (
It is so depressing when everyday is snowy.
Gayle - I am happy for you. Seniors are great! I work with them and find them lots of fun. I figured you would love your job. Are you going to stay on at the liquor store?
Shelley - get well wishes are sent to Mike, he must be in a lot of pain.
Where is Dee? Somewhere warm I bet, sitting on a beach drinking pina colada's (
Have a great day everyone. (http://*********************************************************=ZSzeb097_ZNxmk042YYCA&utm_id=7925)

02-09-2007, 10:50 AM
Thanks for the kick in the butt, but I didn't see it early enough. I'll try my best to get in my 5 mile walk on Sunday. DD says I can use her free weights, so I'll get up Monday to get in a good workout.

I'm volunteering at a charity bike ride this afternoon and tomorrow morning, so there is no time for exercise today. I will be one busy chick!!

Gayle~glad to hear you like your job!

Janice~so sorry about the snow. It might rain here this weekend.

Shelley~sorry to hear about Mike's back problems. MIL had a ruptured disk and had surgery several years ago and has had no problems since.

Debbi~I looked at those shoes. Very nice! What store did you go to that gave you such good service?

Good morning to everyone else!!

02-09-2007, 11:14 AM
65-75% of my clientele has been diagnosed Dementia.
After just this short time, I feel like I just fit in.

Yup Gayle, I'm sure you do fit in.

02-09-2007, 11:19 AM
I've had two people this week ask me if I've lost weight!! That makes me so happy! Since the beginning of January I've lost 8 pounds! Since the beginning of December, 13. :D

It's snowing here today. Thanks, Janice! Really, it doesn't bother me, but that's because our "snow days" are few and far between. Anything beats the usual dull, gray Arkansas winter!

Vouge, my co-worker has been eating only fruits and vegetables (ONLY, ugh!) since the beginning of February. She's doing it for 21 days--some kind of detox fast. She's lost 10 pounds, but not without some, um, side effects :p . I don't know what will happen when she goes back to eating normally.

Shelley--tell Mike to feel better. Those back problems can be a b****! How's the bike?

Hello to everyone else!

02-09-2007, 12:08 PM
Cheryl~ :bravo: :congrat: :bravo: Congrats on the weight loss and NSV!

Sounds like your friend is doing a version of the Fat Smash Detox, although I think the real diet allows you a few grains and limited dairy mixed in, just no meat for the week or so you're supposed to be on it.

02-09-2007, 04:15 PM
I wore the new sneakers today and my feet are very happy! The shoe store is called Footprints and it is here in Connecticut. I don't know if it is a chain or not. Amazing service.

Gayle, sounds like a great job for you!

Suzy, Hope MIL is better and you don't have to deal with her for a while!

Shelley, hope Mike is better soon!

Janice, I really wish you could send some of the snow here! I love snow!

Cheryl, congrats on the weight loss! It is so exciting when someone notices you've lost weight!

Allison, how was the charity bike ride? Did they raise a lot of money?

02-09-2007, 05:01 PM
Hey eevryone , had to work yesterday and volunterr s I couldnt get a chance to log on. I did eat around 1200 yesterday cause I ahd to work I ate a big lunch. I am just so confused all the time I dont know why. I would never do a only fruit diet thing but I am going vegitarrian , its healthier and no fat basically although i am still going to eat eggs and dairy cause Im young and I think that cutting myself off from all eggs dairy and meat is too drastic to start with. Gayle I do remember the dizzy spell , but I think i may have been on my period then also. But I am trying to be more careful.

Congrats on the weight loss to anyone who has lost!!!!

Coles- that was me yesterday I went out and started tanning in feb. here in FL.
sorry dont have time to adress everyone personally , Im going out for a much needed run. xoxo

02-10-2007, 01:30 AM
Hey, little Miss Cheryl, you are quite the smarty pants young lady. You KNOW me all too well! :flow2:

Shelley, give Mike a hug from me and I hope he is feeling better soon. OUCH! Has he had any luck with a job? seems like when it rains, it pours... {{{HUGS}}}

02-10-2007, 11:19 AM
Cheryl ~ You are a riot! Too funny!
Congratulations on your loss are doing great!

Gayle ~ You walked right into that one! I'm glad that you are enjoying your new job so much! Have you decided if you are going to stay at the liquor store?

Shelley ~ I'm sorry to hear about Mike's back problems...he sure didn't need that right now. I hope he's feeling better very soon!

Sherry ~ I'm glad you are feeling better!

Janice ~ Hang in there Spring is coming...just 42 more days! :flow2:

Allison ~ I think I need to be a California girl! It would be so nice to be able to do bike rides and 5 mile walks and such without freezing my behind off!

Vouge ~ 1200 calories is good, but you need to make sure that you are getting proper nutrition, so make sure you are getting a good balanced diet too.

I went back to diet kindergarten and it's working...I'm down a whole pound this week! :carrot:

02-10-2007, 02:01 PM
Diet kindergarden thats a great way to put it hahaha i like that.

02-10-2007, 03:07 PM
Janice...PLEASE send some snow here!!! We are BEGGING FOR IT!!!!! :snowball1

Gayle...I'm glad you love your job! :D But please get some rest too! I don't want you to run yourself down or lose time with Allison.

Shelley...How's Mike? I hope his back is better. Bless his heart. He's had a streak of bad luck but I bet nothing but good things happen from here on out!! {{{{ hugs}}}}

Can't address everyone. On the way to visit Wayne's Parents.

Hugs to all!!!

02-10-2007, 03:33 PM
Vouge ~ I started out just like day one...I started re-reading my diet info and I printed off some sample 1200 calorie menus and I'm doing my best to stick to them. It's all stuff that I already know, but I figured I wasn't sticking to the plan so I needed to re-learn it, so back to diet kindergarten!

02-10-2007, 06:43 PM
Cheryl-Yippeee!! You are doing great!

Vogue-I still think 1200 is too low for a growing 16 year old. I bet you should be eating closer to 1600 or 1800 calories per day in order for your bones and everything to grown healthy. I am only saying this because I started my diet rollercoaster when I was about 10 years old. I hate to see a healthy young lady get into the same rollercoaster I've been on for 40 years.

Mike's back is feeling much better since the block. No luck on the job market yet. He hasn't had any callbacks yet.

Allison-Did you participate in the bike ride, or were you volunteering for it?

Better go check the laundry. Talk to you all tomorrow.

02-10-2007, 07:11 PM
I would love some snow . I miss the snow. Not the shoveling snow but making snowmen and sledding.

Shelly- I dont think I have much gowing left to do , I havent gotten any taller in the past year but I understand you just are being considerate of me. Thanks . I juts think by eating 1800 cals I wont be on much of a diet and trust me I have been on a diet roller coaster too since I was about 12 or so , so i get it .

Suzy- Thats a very buddah way to put it.

02-10-2007, 11:11 PM
I only volunteered in the ride--no time to do both!! DD has biked in the race twice before, but she was volunteering also. One year, my brother drove down from SLC, Utah and did the 100 mile ride.

I went to a wedding tonight and was so good!! Only 2 small margaritas and for dinner I had a teeny, tiny burrito--chicken and rice and salsa, no cheese or guacamole! I think I'll be in line calorie wise today!! Also, down half a pound!

02-10-2007, 11:15 PM
way to go allison. I just weighted in and I gained like 7.8 lbs! thats not all muscle as I havent really been working out! omg I am like almost 200 lbs and 16! not healthy in anyway!!!!!!!! omg i am like freaking out!! I dont care I am going to lose it and never welcome it again . I am not straving myself but going to do some research and have a very sensible diet . omg.

Thanks for everyone for caring about ne. ive just had an ephinany thats all!

02-10-2007, 11:57 PM

Please Go To #13.........
