Hamstrings are still killing me today, so I'm just walking in half-mile chunks. I've done a mile so far today, and maybe I'll get another one in.

Hello everyone!! I am new to this website and to Walk away the pounds, but I just have a few questions for all of you successful walkers on this program.
How often do you guys walk?
Which tapes are you using?
How much weight have you lost so far?
Please let me know because I have the 3 mile tape and I am doing it everyother day or 5 days a week. I hope that I can lose about 30 pounds doing this before like May/June. Do you guys think this is possible. Also I am following a low calorie diet. About 1200 calories a day?
Please help!

Tlo, I use the 5 mile advanced and the 1 mile jog (video edited to the miles I like, i.e. fastest). I started with the 2 miler then worked my way up to 5-6 per day, then lowered it back to 3 per day since I stopped losing weight. Up till now, I've lost 41 pounds since late April. My thoughts on setting weight loss goals - they're great to get you started but if you're following your plan - your body will lose at the rate it will lose at and you can't really make it lose faster. JMHO.
I did 3 miles WATP this am. I'm still sore and stiff, but definitely getting better. Tomorrow I will post January's numbers (weight loss - if there is any) and the exercise log. It's on my USB drive on my keychain and I'm too tired to go get it. :)
Tomorrow is weighin so I'm hopeful, but know it isn't the point in my cycle where I usually lose. Next week and the week after are my hopeful weeks.

Marie, glad to hear your back is feeling a bit better. Hope it continues to improve each day.
Tlo, I have about 20 different WATP workouts and I switch back and forth between them to keep things interesting. But I've recently purchased Leslie's newest workouts called Walk Slim and they are by far my favorites of her workouts so far. I do the workouts usually at least 6 days a week, sometimes I go a long while w/o taking a day off. I generally do 3, 4 or 5 mile walks now. Although when I'm pressed for time I'll do 2 miles some days.
I started using WATP last January and I've lost nearly 40 lbs. Not fast, but for me it's a huge accomplishment. I'm an emotional eater and I obsess about food so the food portion of losing weight never comes easy to me at all, but I'm getting better :) Like Marie said, your body will lose at the rate it wants to lose and you can't really ramp things up too much. You can expect to lose 1-2 lbs a week safely. I try not to set goals as far as weight loss because even if I work out faithfully and follow my diet carefully there are times I just won't lose weight and saying I want to lose X pounds by X date and not having that happen can really throw me off.
Today I did the 4 mile walk slim fast walk :carrot:

Marie and Karen,
Thank you both so much for your responses. I really appreciate your help! I really don't NEED to lose that amount of weight by then, but it just seems like I have tried so many things and I just wanted to get some kind of re-assurance that if I stick to this workout, I will loose somthing by summer. But losing 1-2 pounds a week is fine by me!! I will take that. And even if I don't, I just really want to be healthy and don't want to feel so out of shape at such a young age anymore. My boyfriend lifts weights and works out everyday, and he is gone away for a few months, and when he comes home I want him to see that I am getting more in shape. Don't get me wrong, this is FOR sure for me, not him because I have been trying to get my body together long before I even met him, but he is good motivation for me:)
But thanks again guys for your feed back, I really do appreciate it, and I will post everyday and let you guys know how I am doing. My normal weigh in day is Sunday, so I will let you guys know how my first week went.
I did the 3 mile walk yesterday and I am feeling good today. So lets keep up the good work:)

Gah, I think I'm going to have to go visit the doctor tomorrow. I've mentioned my hamstring pain the past few times I've posted, and I had HORRIBLE leg cramps all night last night. I even took it easy yesterday and drank all my water (80 ounces).
I got out of bed this morning and proceeded to fall flat on my face because my leg just literally gave out. I don't know what to do.

Hi all, I have no exercise to report, but I wanted to pop in on the new thread. DH is doing well after his surgery. I've got either a cold or the flu (woke up with it yesterday morning) and I feel like cr*p. I really don't feel like nursing anyone today, but.....
I hope to actually feel like exercising tomorrow.
Take care.

So sorry you're under the weather, Tammy! Please take care of yourself!
I did the 3 fast Walk Slim miles again this morning! I just LOVE that workout! You'd think I'd be tired of it, since I've done it 7 of the last 11 days, but I just LOVE it! I still need to make the time to do the Fast Firming. Maybe this weekend.....
Of course, tonight is booked--we are having hubby's company party, which means dinner for 8 (very small company) at a fancy restaurant. Tomorrow night is booked--my son is getting his Arrow of Light Award for Scouts in a special District-wide ceremony, which means another dinner out just for the family. YIKES!! I'll get my workouts in SOMEHOW!!!
Have a great weekend, walkers!

Hi everyone, I did a 3 mile fast walk this morning and put more effort into the movements. So there was a bit more aerobics to it. My back is about the same today. DH hubby felt sorry for me since I was bummed about not being able to go on our ski trip this weekend so we're driving to Portland for a weekend getaway. It'll be nice and I'm not bringing either or my laptops!!! Eeks, separation anxiety. So I won't be checking in. I do have WATP on my ipod and will be bringing that.
Tammy, I hope you feel better and Tlo, good for you on doing this for yourself. Motivators are great but the end all is yourself.
My scale was as mean as usual. No loss. Oh well, I really wasn't expecting much just had hope.

Man, I so did not feel like working out today :( Not sure why. I think it's that I got a late start. Normally I do my workouts fairly early, once I get the boys on the bus, my DD breakfast and get her settled with something to do/watch. So normally 9:30 am is the absolute latest I'm starting. But oldest DS had a friend over last night so we had to take him home and then I ran to to grocery since the weather is getting so horrible while we were out so I didn't have to go out again so I didn't get a chance to start until after 1pm. I think that must have affected my mood/energy level or something. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I did the 3 mile walk slim.

Only a few days into the month and I am already playing catch up here! I did the Two Mile WATP with weights Monday-Friday this week, and I did an hour of Yoga on Thursday night. On Saturday I did the 1 Mile WATP with weights, and I went out for over an hour of outdoor walking. Today I had a much needed day off!
Have a great week everyone

Hi all,
Sara, Are you still having trouble with your legs? When I first started walking, I had pain in the front of my lower legs and it worked its way out eventually. I hope yours does too, but if it has continued for several days, maybe it is time to visit the doctor.
Marie, I hope you and DH had a great weekend in Portland. How is your back doing by now?
Michele, What was your favorite commercial? I took a kitchen break and missed a Bud Light one that everyone else said was the best one. Something about a hitchhiker with a chainsaw and a hitchhiker with an axe.
Karen, I have the same problem you had yesterday. If I get out of my routine, it's so hard to get back in.
Curly Grrl, You've been a busy walker! It seems like the pounds are just dropping off of you lately. Congrats!
Hi Michelle! Drop by more often.
I'm feeling much better so it wasn't the flu only a cold. I rode bikes today for 95 minutes. I had a great time and intend to do that more often.

Hey everyone, I know it's late, but I just thought I'd drop in with an update.
I went to see the doctor about my insane leg pain, and he told me that based on my previous history of knee issues, it's probably related to hyper-extension of my leg. I basically have no kneecap in my right knee thanks to years of faulty joints grinding against each other.
So I'm supposed to completely lay off the exercise for 3 weeks (hah, so says the skinny beanpole of a doctor), and he put on some supplements that even my mother who's been a nurse for over 10 years couldn't explain.
I think I'm just going to keep doing what feels comfortable for my body and go from there.

We had a 2 hour late start today due to dangerously low wind chills (-30ish)! I got up a bit later than usual and still had time to do the 4 fast Walk Slim miles! That makes 17 miles so far this month!
Tammy, my favorite was either the Bud commercial where the guys were doing rock, paper, scissors for the last one in the cooler or the Blockbuster one with the mouse. All in all, I didn't think the commercials were NEARLY as good as in past years! It was a good game, though!
Well, off to have breakfast at home, for a change! Then a shower and to work!
Have a great day!

Michelle, 17 miles in only 5 days, thats awsome!!! Way to go girl!! I wasn't able to walk this weekend, it was so filled with things to do, I didn't get around to even being still in my apartment for longer than 5 min! But my normal routine is to walk 5 days a week Mon-Fri weekends off. So I will do my 3 mile tonight when I get home. Wish me luck:)
Have a great Monday everyone.

Hi everyone,
My DS said the Super Bowl commercials weren't as good as last year. I did see the last quarter but on Tivo and skipped the commercials per his request.
DH and I had a great time in Portland. Definitely with the full house of adult children a break was needed. :)
I did 3 miles walking this morning. My back is about the same as late last week - no improvement no wors. Although swimming at the hotel was fabulous. No pain whatsoever.
Dusty, I have the 5 mile DVD and have ordered the Walk Slim. I like the 5 miler but it's not as hard as it once was. Michele and Karen sold me on the idea of Walk Slim so I'm hoping it'll help me off the longest plateau in my dieting history.

Hello all you fellow walkers!
I just wanted to pop by and report that I did the 3 mile walk last night. Almost couldn't get through the whole thing I was about to stop after 2 miles, but I decided against it and said if I can get through 2 I might as well go for the 3. I normally don't have a problem with the 3 mile, thats the only one I have so thats the only one I do, but for some reason yesterday I was really tired. Hopefully tonight will be better and I will breeze through.
Good luck everyone:)

4 fast Walk Slim miles this morning! Marie, I hope everything works out. What type of shipping did you get? Did you order from Leslie's site or the infomercial? There have been some concerns raised by those who ordered through the infomercial. All I can say is document EVERYTHING. And make LOTS of calls to pester them! Good luck!

I did not exercise this morning. Yes you read that right. The alarm went off and I chose to doze during exercise time. It was so decadent!!! I did ride the exercycle 2.5 miles while babysitting (much of it with DGS on my lap so I wasn't a total slug. :)
And Michele, I got my Walk Slim today so tomorrow I'm going to try that. I'm hoping it's not too hard on the back or I'll be marching in place a lot.

Michele, I did 3 miles fast walk from the Walk Slim DVD too. I started with the 2 mile but there's something wrong with the DVD so I started over. I really like it and it is more of a workout than the advanced set. Tomorrow I'm going to try the 4 miler. The back is okay, not great, not bad. So now I'm ignoring it. Dusty, it took about 11 days since I ordered mine through the website until it appeared.

Hi all. It's been a while since I've posted. Or exercised for that matter :( I've found myself in a major funk that I'm having a hard time crawling out of. I believe it started with BIL's birthday on the 5th. He would have been 43. But then it grew when I stepped on the scale and had quite a gain. It just took all the wind out of my sails completely. I have been working so hard working out and was doing pretty well food wise too and to see that big of a gain was just a complete slap in the face. I've been working so hard at this for over a year and I feel like, although I've made a small improvement in my weight, it's no where near the effort I'm putting out and it's just getting to me. I'm pushing myself to get through this and get back into the swing come Monday. My DH has to work Saturday, and since he works nights I know the weekend will be difficult so I just have to get through that first. And hopefully work through my feelings about slow or non-existent weight loss.
Michele L
02-09-2007, 03:19 PM
Hang in there, Karen! I know what it's like to feel like you're really working hard and not seeing results (or the results you THINK you should see)! I've seen so many people who can say, "I've lost 50 pounds in 6 months!" It took me a YEAR to lose 30 pounds. That doesn't seem like that much to lose in 365 days! On the other hand, I DID lose 30 pounds. They say slower is better because you're more likely to KEEP it off. Remember, we are here for you!
I did the 4 fast Walk Slim miles again this morning! I'm at 31 miles done for the month!
Have a great weekend! Mine will be quiet, since my daughter left this morning for a church mission trip.

Way to go Michele! You're on such a roll.

Karen, Michele said it all. I too wonder how anyone can lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks and that garbage. I've lost 43 in 10 months and for the last 4 months it's been just a pound here or there. Slow is better but I KNOW what you mean about working hard and having the evil scale laugh at you. I've been near angelic since the beginning of November and up until today, I'd lost 2 pounds - drum roll - now it's 3 pounds. YEAH!!! but I had wanted to give up last week and came to the conclusion that if I gave up the evil scale wins. That sure wasn't going to happen. Add to it the loss of your BIL and you're ripe for wanting to give it up. But I know you can do it. You'd really gotten back on board with the Walk Slim and I KNOW you can do it. We're all slow losers. I think that has to do with pathetically slow metabolisms which probably cause the overweight state in the first place. I KNOW I can't eat as many calories as most others even though I exercise like a banshee. So let's take our time and never give up.
Okay see my dismount for the soapbox - almost - Karen, you're not alone. Always remember that.
Okay dismounted.
I did the 4 miler Walk Slim this am. I REALLY liked it and the mambo is my favorite too as well as the grapevine. I'm thinking what I like best about the entire collection (except the one DVD that's faulty) is that they are using really music. I really like that and the variations on the steps. It is a more aerobic set then the advanced.
And last night I did the Fast Firm. I was surprised that I was getting muscle fatigue. I didn't think it would be hard. :) It's now in my routine - hence I liked it.

I wish I could say I was good today, but I can't.
It was a cruddy day and I binged like I haven't done in a long time. But it's over and I can't change it now, so there's no point in dwelling on it, right?
Tomorrow I am getting myself back on track, most definitely. I feel so CRAPPY now that I've eaten what I used to eat and not even think twice about. It's amazing how now that my body is used to "cleaner" food, the nasty stuff just tears me up.

I only got a mile in this morning, but at least I got a mile in :D I have a cold. Again :( So I just did a muscle mile one with 2 lb weights. I figure I'll take it easy again for a few days and ease back into the walks and hopefully be over this soon and ramp things up a bit again soon. We're supposed to get 4-8" of snow tonight, so I kind of doubt we'll have school tomorrow. That will mean opportunity for another long workout or maybe I'll FINALLY do the fast firming DVD!!

Michele, you'll probably like the fast firming DVD - I do - sort of - I hate toning work but it's pretty quick and doesn't linger on and on in the same area. I did mine this morning wiht a 2 mile walk. After work I did a 2 mile walk with the doggies.
Karen, I hope you get better soon. You're just ahving a tought winter, aren't you.

Hi all you wonderful walkers. Karen, I take it you're feeling better - at least I hope.
All of you with snow days, I'm envious but alas no snow for us. By the weekend into the 60's. I'm going skiing. YEAH!!! The back is almost all the way better and if I wait til it's completely better it'll be spring and the mountains will be mud.
I did the 4 mile fast walk. I do love the Walk Slim set. The variety is so nice and the pace is great.
Now, I wanted to tell you all about my call to their customer service - I'd bought the set through their webpage and the 1 and 2 mile DVD is faulty. So finally, today I called. They were so incredibly nice and apologetic (I told them not to worry that I would rarely do only 1 or 2 miles). They're sending me a replacement DVD then asked me to send them the faulty one in the packaging form the replacement. Great company. I was very impressed.
Okay, off to other things. Have a great Valentines Day tomorrow.

I did 1.5miles of Express today, plus I went for a swim at the Y. And I thought I'd share with you guys my moment of insanity today. This morning my mom was waiting for me upstairs so we could go swim, and I came RUNNING up the stairs holding my pants up screaming "Mom my pants are falling off!"

Sara, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve a round of applause. Great job on having the old pants fallin' right on off. Great work, keep it up.
Michele, I've worked for school districts for about 10 years and both places have snow but I've NEVER had a snow day. I keep hoping. But then again, I wouldn't have wanted the weather in the midwest and east.
Karen, it is fun to do "older" videos isn't it? I did my 2 mile walk and 1 mile jog on this morning (I slept in and it's a quickie). This evening I did the Walk Firm. I really hate toning and strength stuff. Give me aerobics any day.
Tomorrow DH and I are going to Bend, OR (about 150 miles north of here) to go skiing at Mt. Bachelor - real ski resort - on Saturday. We're driving up tomorrow evening so we can start at the opening time of 8:00. Then afterwards, shopping at Costco. I should be exhausted by the time we return Saturday night.
Since I won't have a chance to check in tomorrow - probably - I'll let you know that the 4 mile walk slim is on the agenda before work. Then skiing on Saturday. My back is almost all the way better so my fingers are crossed that the skiing doesn't do it in. :)

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. I have done WATP in the past and really like them. A Little bit about myself. I am 42 yrs young I live in N California. I have 4 sons 25,21,15 and......... 14 months. :dizzy: Crazy I know. I would like to lose about 50 lbs. I am hoping to get some motivation from all you motived walkers....smiles. I like the idea of how you guys challenge yourselves with time exercising ie: minutes, miles. That is great. How would I go about starting something like this? I mean like what would be some reasonable and reachable numbers to start with? I have been doing medifast for about 2 weeks and it is working great. I need to add a little exercise tho. I do have some Leslie dvds and the Walk Slim from prevention and the Turbo Jam dvds. I'd like to say CONGRATS :carrot: to all you loosers. That is awesome. Anyways I am hoping to give support and get some as well. And of course make some online friends. :cb:

I did the 3 fast Walk Slim miles this morning at 6am. Now I'm off to work a 12 hour day. It's parent-teacher conference time again at the high school, but we won't have many parents there. I'd like to join in on this forum too if you all don't mind. I'm 27 and have recently started doing the WATP tapes again to add some variation from my treadmill exercise. Right now, I'm starting back in with the 1 nile walk for a week and then I'll start eh 2 mile one next week once I'm back into the routine. I think I'm still going to do my 30 minutes on the treadmill every night as well along with these.

Welcome Rose and Angie - we're very glad to have you.
Rose, I'm glad you found your way to the Feb thread. To answer your question, when I started over a year ago, I aimed for 50 miles in a month. That quickly went up as I got in better shape. It's very doable for me to be over 100 miles walking/jogging because I exercise everyday - for control over bipolar and losing weight is just a great side benefit.
This morning I had a shortened workout - 1 mile jogging and 2 miles walking because we got another foot of snow and I knew it was take forever to get to work. As I'm walking out the door, the phone rings and my co-worker tells me it's a work day (he thought our boss told me - she had called to find out if the servers were working and she'd call me back once the decisions were made about canceling school but she didn't...). So now I'm at home, all dressed up and watching the sky dump loads of white on us. So today was a 3 mile day.
Michele, I feel your pain about conferences - I don't have to do them but occasionally I'm required to work during them and it's not right to be at work from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm. Boy do I hate that.

Hello lovelies!
I haven't been exercising as much as I should lately due to my grandfather suddenly being in VERY poor health. He's having lots of difficulties with cardiac arrhythmia, and has been in and out of the hospital.
But last night I managed to get 1 mile in, and I'll get another in tonight since I don't have time to go get a mile in right now, then shower, then study for class tonight.
Mrrrh, stress = crap.
EDIT: I decided to skip the shower and get my mile in before class. They can just deal with me being sweaty! I'll crunch another mile in later.

Well, after a 12-hour day at parent/teacher conferences last night (through which I talked to 15 parents out of the 71 students I have ), I just didn't want to get up this morning. Hi all
Sara, great job on working the mile in and foregoing the shower. That's dedication.
I did 4 miles this morning. I really love the 4 mile Walk Slim. I do wish there was more mambo in it. BUT, for some reason, Leslie's chatter bugs me more than any other DVD. I was back at the hospital today with my grandpa, so my exercise was mostly improvised.
His room is on the 7th floor, and I took the stairs instead of the elevator, and walked through the parking garage instead of the elevator. My eating was maybe a little worse than normal since it was pretty much grab whatever you can find, but I'm not worried about it. I made an effort, which is more than I can say I was doing before.

Hi everyone,
I have been dieting for awhile and have been doing Leslie's WATPs in addition. Recently I got lazy and stopped doing WATP, and I focused on what I was eating. Then I realized that the DVD was really helping in my energy levels and weight loss! So, I decided that I really need to do the WATP three to four days a week!
I do the Express 2 mile walk twice. I also hold Poland Spring water bottles while I do it, and use them instead of the stretchy band. It's a pretty good workout!
Alrighty, happy walking!

Hi!
I'd like to join the WATP crowd. I've started doing the one and two mile walks this past week. I also have done the 3 mile once but it's still a little much for me. I lost about 50 pounds on WW a couple of years ago but regained it all. I don't do well with cutting back on food so I know exercise is a key for me. I walked a lot outdoors when I lost weight before so I know it works! I don't really have a number of pounds I want to lose but I do want to get my BMI down to a healthy level and improve my overall health. I've lost 5.5 pounds in the past month without a really solid eattting plan - mostly just cutting out junk and trying to eat healthy. Any support and advice is welcome. Seems most of my friends and my DH aren't in the same boat I am weight and health wise. They are mostly supportive but don't really understand my struggle with emotional overeatting. I've recently started journaling and I find most of my really weak moments are when I'm tired.

Hey guys, I was just wondering how you count your WATP time on FitDay?
I tried to count it as the 4mph walking, but then after over a mile it only gives me 116 calories burned, and that's sorta depressing.
Is there a different way to log it?
Michele L
02-24-2007, 09:56 PM
I don't use FitDay, but on Spark People, I log it as low impact aerobics. The numbers seem to be pretty accurate!
I had a lazy day today while we wait out the ice storm and now a snow storm. I finally forced myself to hop on the treadmill for 20 minutes. I'll be sure to do some WATP tomorrow, though. Otherwise, I'll be having withdrawals!
Michele
jtammy
02-24-2007, 10:19 PM
Sara, I log it as walking, 4mph also. At my weight, one mile burns 87 calories. I suspect that is pretty accurate. Although exercise is super important for feeling better and getting fit, IMHO, weight loss is more about the food and calories consumed. Just my own opinion of course.
Wildfyre

If you're sure you can make it through the 4 mile, why not push yourself and get the 5? It always helps me stay motivated when I work up to something and then complete it.
Even if you can't make it through it all the first time, it's a challenge, and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

WorkinItGirl, I love the 5 mile. There is also a new one called Walk Slim that I haven’t tried but some of the other ladies on here love it. It sounds like and advanced one similar to the 5 mile.
I walked in the park today +-4 miles (65 minutes).

Walk Slim is faster and several of them have interval training with light jogging. Personally, I feel like I'm getting a better workout with the 4 mile Walk Slim than with the 5 mile, but I love them both!
The 2 mile Fast Start has 3 intervals of jogging (2 minutes each). It takes about 35 minutes to complete including the cooldown. The 3 fast miles is just fast walking (no jogging) (45 minutes including cooldown) and the 4 fast miles has 5 intervals of jogging (50 minutes including cooldown). You also get Fast Firming, which is done with the stretchie (included). I just LOVE the entire set! It's all I've done for the last month and I've lost about 5 pounds, which is FAST for me!

Once again been MIA for a while :( I did get a workout in this morning though. Only a mile, but I'm striving for a mile a day this week. If I get in more great, if I only get in a mile, that's great too. Better than the nothing I have been getting.
We got news last week that DH has diabetes. This has thrown us both for a loop and I've been in a desperate search for any info I can find so I can figure out what we can and can't eat now. He was started on oral meds last week and we see our doctor on Friday to get more info. This was just a fluke that it was found. He had to have a physical to be able to keep his CDL license current and his urine tested high, so they did a finger prick and the # was really high so they sent him for bloodwork and those #'s definitely confirmed diabetes. This news has just really knocked me down in some ways. He already has a strong family history of heart disease (FIL died at 64, BIL you know died just in November at 42 both of massive heart attacks), he has two sisters and his mom living and all 4 of them have high cholesterol and high blood pressure and are on meds so this diabetes diagnosis just adds one more layer to all the heart concern I have for him. But I'm trying to buck up and realize that we can control this if he'll follow the doctor's orders and listen to me ;) Now I just have to educate myself.
Part of my biggest problem with this is that I already seriously obsess about food. Wondering what I can, should, can't, will eat. I'm an absolute emotional eater. Since his diagnosis I feel as if the only thought in my head has been about food and it is really driving me nuts. It's making me hungry, making me crave things I don't need and he can't have....it just feels like a battle right now. So hopefully with knowledge I can relax a little and not think about food so much in the coming weeks.
Looking forward to trying to catch up on what I've missed!! Hope everyone is doing well

Hi again on a cold snowy Michigan day. I did the two mile this morning and feel pretty good after.:) My goal this week is to do two or three miles each morning. I'm working afternoons this week for the first time so a major adjustment in daily routine. Hoosiermomto3 I'm so sorry to hear about your DHs new diabetes diagnosis. At least it was found and now he can start to get the treatment he needs in order for it not to do more damage to his body. I'm and emotiona eater too and I know the first reaction is always to medicate the pain with food but maybe helping him to get healthy by eatting right can be a motivator for you too. My family has a strong diabetes background - my Dad died when he was the age I am of complications from not being compliant with his diabetes treatment so it is a big motivator to me to get fit. Hope all of you have a great day.:D

Welcome to all our new walkers. It's great to have many here.
Let me put my 2 cents in about the Walk Slim. It is a more thorough workout than the 5 mile advanced. I really love the 4 mile workout. I did the 3 mile once - it was good but not enough and this evening I did the 2 mile. I've been doing the fast firm regularly (up until this past week - long story) but will be adding it back tomorrow. I do mix it up with the jogging miles from the Advance 1 mile jog (I usually do 2 or 3 miles that way). I like being able to jog so I mix the two up.
Karen, I'm so sorry about he diagnosis. There is a silver lining, you'll all be eating healthier now and that will help with the heart problems that run in his family. You've sure had a tough last few months. Good luck.

Well, my cardio for the day was rather lacking, but at least I got it in. Well, some of it. I did 11 miles of WATP and then 12 minutes on the treadmill. I started getting some hellacious calf cramps, so I gave it a rest and drank an extra 20 oz. of water.

Hi again!
I was a little sore last night but not too bad. This morning I shoveled snow and carried in firewood for about 20 minutes and then did the 2 mile walk. I was thinking about only doing one but I feel so good mentally after the 2 mile that I decided to do it and take some ibuprofen before going to work. I had and interesting day yesterday. I'm orienting to a new job on a new shift to take the place of someone else when they go on maternity leave. She was working with me last evening to show me the ropes. Her water broke while we were at dinner and ended up having the baby before our shift was over. Fortunately we work in the hospital so she didn't have far to go and she was a month early but the baby is fine. I had a crash course on just doing the job. Afternoons was OK for me. At least it keeps me from wanting to snack all evening.

I did exercise this morning (and yesterday evening). I jogged for 3 miles and did the strength training workout. I was pooped and it was only 10 after 6. But I'm energetic now.
I also stayed within the cals. yesterday. YEAH!!! I'm weighing in on Firday whether or not I'm good so I'll be good just because I'd hate to be in the 170's again.

Hi ladies,
Karen I'm sorry to hear about DH's diagnosis. But now that you know, he can begin to manage it and take care of himself. Dusty had a great idea about checking with your local hospital. Even in our little tiny town, they do that. Good luck with it. I'm sure you will find lots of great recipes that the whole family will enjoy.
Cj that sounds like quite a crash course. :D Good luck on the new shift
Marie, I hope the weigh in goes well tomorrow  Good for you for staying within your calorie range.
Hi to everyone!
I'm home with two sick kids today. I walked earlier today (40 minutes) and I hope to either walk or weight lift some more this afternoon.

Just finished the 2 mile fast walk from walk slim. I think this is the first time in a really long time I've actually somewhat enjoyed a workout. Let's hope it's the start of something great in that department :carrot:
My new washer and dryer came. Can I just say I am IN LOVE!!!! LOL Oh my gosh, they are partly what gave me the spark to exercise this afternoon. I have done two loads of laundry (one washed and dried, one in the washer now, it's probably done) and they amounted to clothes that would have been at least 5 loads in our old washer!!! WHOO!!!! Maybe this will help me find just a tiny bit more time in my day so I can make sure to keep the workouts going!!
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and feedback on DH's diagnosis. I am hoping the doc will send us to a nutritionist when we see him Friday. If not, I will definitely check with our local hospital and see what they have to offer. DH may not be able to go, and I may have to wait until spring when my parents are home from Hawaii to watch the kids, but I'll take any education I can get. His diagnosis of high cholesterol was nothing in comparison! LOL With that it's fairly cut and dried what you should/shouldn't eat. Not that he (or I) have always been the best at following it, but this is definitely a different experience.

Good evening! Yesterday, we had a snow day, well, actually it was an ICE day. While I was home, I did lots of chores and got in the 2 fast Walk Slim miles.
This morning, when I realized we DID have school, I got up and did the 4 fast Walk Slim miles. I'm less than 3 miles from reaching my February goal, too! That won't be a problem tomorrow morning! Then, we're supposed to get another round of freezing rain/ice etc starting tomorrow, so I may get in some extra miles depending on the timing. I am fully expecting to NOT have school on Thursday, given the predictions. Next week is Spring Break and I'll do some serious miles before attending a regional Foreign Language conference in Kansas City on Thurs-Sat. The hotel has a decent fitness room, so I'll be sure to do at least a mile each day I'm gone! Can't let a 200+ day streak end!

Welcome to all the new walkers!!!
Sara, I hope your grandpa improves. You're doing great!! It's hard when stress hits and you're busy running around like that. You are doing wonderfully to keep up the workouts in whatever form you can.
I did the 2 mile walk slim again this morning.

Hello,
I did the 2 mile again today. Three days in a row - that's a new trend beginning. I am tired today - I didn't sleep well. Think my body doesn't want to leave it's early rising mode and last night I was to awake to go to bed right away when I got home. We are expecting bad weather tomorrow too. We'll see how accurate the weather man is this time. Today was my weigh in day and I lost 2 pounds so I have reason to celebrate. This first four weeks has been tough but it is working. Hope you all have a great day!

Hi everyone, I went to Medford (over the mountain pass). The usual 1.5 hour drive was 2.25 and was quite trecherous. I had to go for work. But all was fine - just a long commute. I've been good today, about 1300 calories. Yesterday was a little less. I've been so munchie lately that I've accidently gone under my target because I've been obsessing about not munching. Eeks. Where does it end??? I also walked 4 miles this morning before leaving. It was a good workout.

I got my 2 miles done this morning and I've noticed I'm doing it more energetically - I'm getting more used to daily exercise! So tomorrow I'll do the 3 mile. Our storm is on it's way so I'm leaving early for work and hope to make it home tonight - then I have a day off tomorrow!
