I did the original Sweating to the Oldies this morning. I know it is not as good of a work out as some of the later ones, but so far it is the only one I have found. It really is my favorite since it is the one I know best, I did it almost everyday for a about a year back in 1990-91.

Glad that you did the Broadway video and enjoyed the workout. Keep it going.:carrot:
Have some what of an busy day of helping my family..The only time that I can do his video is late afternoon/evenings. I am picking one of my collection and focus on doing his video for this month, so I won't get bored.
Have a great day and keep on moving with Richard! Hearing others will give me the strength to do them, and not letting all of his videos that I have collect dust. Keep posting your workouts with him..I am right along with ya!! :)

I did Supersweatin' Party Off the Pounds today. I love it!! It's only the second time I've done it, but it's already one of my favorite RS videos. I love the songs. I sing through the whole workout!!
I've never actually done the Sweatin' to the Oldies ones. I might have to check into those. I've heard the 2nd one is the best. Is that true?
Liliann, the Mega Mix Blast Off is one of the harder Blast Offs. So to do 2 songs is awesome!! Keep it up, soon you'll be able to do the whole thing!
Happy dancing!!

Hello all!
Bravo to all for doing the dancing videos!! Great job!! I am happy to hear!! :)
I missed doing the Mega blast off on friday..but will do my best on today. I was watching the mega blast off and his moves on that one is way to quick for me. So I am hoping on finding one out of 12 videos that I have to feel more comfortable. I might do the sweatin 3 video..and build up. I love the songs on every videos that I have. Giving up is not an option!
Keep dancing and finding the right one that you enjoy. I had lost weight in the past of doing his sweating to the oldies 2 and 3. So..late afternoon, will sweat along with Richard and his gang! :)
Keep on dancing!!!:carrot:

Hi, all! I am new to 3FC! I have a lot of Richard's videos ( would like to get them all on DVD someday!), and I just enjoy them so much! He is not only inspiring, I feel uplifted when I do those videos. The "all sizes" exercisers who have always been a part of his group videos make his videos some of the best! If I need to lose 30 or so pounds and I see someone who has gone well beyond that #, then I know I can do it! I lost one of my Tonin' Rings , though, and the other one looks like it is about to snap.
Have a great week everyone!

GO, LILIANN, GO! WORK IT AND OWN IT! You sound like you are letting Richard "Take you to Health"!! Wheee! I need to make time for myself to do something, too! Maybe "Groovin' in the House"?!

I did Supersweatin' again today! I love it, but I'm definitely feeling it in my butt and thighs tonight. So I'll probably do a different video tommorrow. I'll have to wait and see how I feel in the morning.
Happy dancing!

Wow, Richard must have put out many more videos than I realized, I've never heard of many of the videos you are naming.
Had to be at work early today and every day this week, so I won't have time for Richard until the weekend.
Have fun ladies!

02-06-2007, 06:35 PM
Liliann, thanks! I'e been trying to do something everyday. I hope you can fit in your DYPO today! That's a fun one!
Sharon, Yes there are a ton of RS videos. I was surprised too when I started looking for different ones. Hope your weeks not too busy.
Today I only had 30 min. So I did Broadway Blast Off. I love the songs in this one!

I saw in my new Collage Video catalog that there are some new RS videos/DVD's out now...gotta get my hands on those! Good for all of you, you just keep on, keepin' on!
It is so cold here in NE Ohio...and maybe wher you are, too...I am walking when I can...thinking that when it is warmer outside, I will be "down some pounds"! I just might have to do "Latin Blast Off" tonight, since Crazynette mentioned it! Has anyone tried "Groovin' in the House"? Fun, fun...well, all of them are fun and a good workout!
Take care all, and have a great evening!
Thanks for the welcome, Liliann...so sweet of you!

Yeah, which ones? I haven't heard about any. I would love to get some new ones. Even though I like the ones I have, there's something about new videos that excite me!

Now you caught me off-guard and I don't know where my catalog is right now, ladies! :p
I cannot remember if I took it to work and left it there, or I have it in my car...SORRY! :(
Anyhow, I hope you are working it with Richard or whatever workouts you are "working"! I did "Latin Blast Off" on Tuesday night, and those moves were a bit tough for me...maybe I never did this tape before, but I really liked the toning workout! Then last night I did "Disco Blast Off"...I really like that...Richard rocks. SO inspirational, encouraging!
BUT WE ALREADY KNEW THAT! Thanks for your patience with me, and I will post those videos'/DVD'S asap! ( oh, won't I be embarrassed if they are just new to ME!) :) Until then, BE BLESSED!!!

IAF, I hope you are feeling better and get that leg checked out! You are doing great on your weight goal...looks like you are getting really close sooner than later! Keep up the great work, and ALL of you "posters", too!
:)
Weigh in for me is on Mondays, so weekends can be tough! :p
Have a great weekend all!

I've had a busy few days, working all weekend, but I did fit in "Latin Blast-Off" and "Broadway Blast-Off" in on a couple of the days. I also got a step for step aerobics. So I've done that once. I like to mix my workouts up. I mostly do RS, but I need variety or I get bored and don't do them. Today I did "Supersweatin'"
IAF - I hope your thigh is feeling better.
WorkinIt - I hope your WI went well. Weekends are hard sometimes.
Lilliann - Where are you? Haven't seen you for a few days. Same with Wanna. Haven't checked in for a bit. Hope everythings going well.
Have a great day! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

How funny about your daughter! Maybe the choreographer works out to Disco Sweat too! I've been sick so I'm taking a few days off from working out. Hopefully I'll be back to working out soon.

Hi, all! My computer has been acting up...is the server going to connect or not?! :p I hope all of you are doing well! I had some set backs this week, but I am hopeful for this coming week to get back on track! I worked out and walked earlier this week, but by mid-week was just wiped out! Thursday I stayed home from work, sick-sinus/respiratory...ugh! So, other than a little walking at breaks on Wednesday, I have not worked out... letting myself recover so I can come back strong soon! Last Monday's weigh in...I weighed in 1.4 pounds heavier...gotta kick up some cardio and start burning up the pounds! Thanks for your support...this is a great forum!

I do Body Flex, Pilates, Yoga and Yogilates and I needed another workout so I didn't get bored. I came across a great deal on all four Richard Simmons videos and got excited - I am sick to death of seeing hip hop, bollywood, latin music (there's even a "workout to gospel music" believe it or not!) - whatever happened to good ol' rock and roll? There's not much of it besides Richard Simmons. Is this out of print?
So I am bidding and hoping to enjoy these great tapes. And looking forward to enjoying this thread! :carrot:

What a great website! I only wish there was more on DVD than there was on VHS, but I can transfer them myself.
Thanks much. I am really looking forward to getting some 80s music to work out to! :cb:

Samantha, How do you transfer them yourself? Sorry I'm so behind on technology.

I have a DVD recorder/VCR combo. You can just record onto the DVD player from the VCR. I haven't done it yet because it's time consuming and not exactly a great copy but since I travel, it's important to have DVDs that can be played in my laptop for exercising. There aren't too many VCRs in hotel rooms anymore.

If you like 80's music, you definitely need to get "Supersweatin' - Party Off the Pounds." Great music, and you can buy it on DVD. It's my new favorite workout!! Cheesy outfits, and cheesy hairdos, but then that's the 80's!!! The music is great! I find myself singing along while I workout!!
Good luck on your bidding! Have you looked on half.com. Sometimes they're just as cheap as bidding, and the shipping is usually less. I've also bought some on amazon for pretty cheap.
samanthaf63
02-28-2007, 10:22 AM
Appreciate the suggestion. And I got into ebay only after using half.com for a year or so. I have not done so well on Amazon and forget to check.
Can't wait till they get here - I do not have any kind of cardio program now and I've been told it's a really good idea. Plus, I am bored with just the yoga, body flex, and pilates. I need something fun for the evening!

I saw that a 3 pack of Sweatin to the Oldies on Amazon was $150 for DVD. Wow! That's a bit much.

You can pick up the VHS for good prices but all of the Richard Simmons DVDs are pricey. There aren't that many of them yet. Still, with the demand so high, I'm sure the prices will drop soon.
I missed out on the auction for 5 VHS for $26 but I did order the 60s one and the 80s one and then backtracked for the Disco Sweat in the hopes my mother will be able to join me on it.
Keep you posted - can't wait till they arrive!
crazynette826

Good luck! Let us know what you think when they do arrive!
I've done Broadway Blast-Off the last two nights. I've been sick all week and didn't want to push it too hard. So this is the tape I know the most (probably could do it with just the sound), and it's the least physical, at least for me.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

I just got a pile of the Richard Simmons videos - woo hoo! Any suggestions on which one to use first 'cos it's the most fun or easiest to start with? :carrot:
samanthaf63
03-08-2007, 12:12 PM
Ebay of course! But it is funny how pricey they can get - people will buy them almost at new prices just to get the ones they want! I got the following:
Sweatin to the Oldies
Sweatin to the Oldies 2
Sweatin' to the Oldies 4
Disco Blastoff
60s Blastoff
80s Blastoff
Stretching to the Classics
Downtown (something or other)
I like the idea of varying the cardio!

 So I got in all those Richard Simmons VHS tapes and I'm sure sorry I got them. I guess I should have asked some pointed questions - have gotten so spoiled with instructors who know how to instruct that I was very disgusted.
The camera angles prevent a newbie from seeing exactly what is going on at all time and Richard doesn't bother to tell you what he's doing - he just does it. Which wouldn't be bad if you had a wide angle lens to see it, but no - the "arty farty" camera angles prevent it from happening. Second, he's working out on a regular gym floor, something that cannot happen with carpeting. You can't slide your feet the right way, you kinda get snagged on the carpeting. I know it's been awhile since I've done an aerobic workout but I never had that with Rita Moreno's tape way back when.
I'm disillusioned - I know I need a good cardio workout but I really hate the kind of music they're pushing these days. I don't want to listen to Latin or hip hop or some such crap. But I do need an instructor who knows what they're doing.
I'd be happy to send the entire mess off to someone who enjoys it just for the cost of postage. Without a gym floor, they're only going to gather dust.
crazynette826
03-10-2007, 08:49 AM
Sorry they didn't work for you! I remember the first time I did one I felt really stupid and uncoordinated, but each time after that I did better and better. You might want to try it again.
I've also found that bare feet work better on carpet floors. That way you can slide and twist as needed.
Looking at your list of the ones you got, none of them are my favorites. I've tried most of the ones you have and none are in my usual rotation. I do the 80's blast off occasionally, but only when I really need a change of pace.
As far as Richard Simmons goes, he's not for everybody. I think he's funny and strangly addicting, but I know people that can't stand him.
Sorry you were dissappointed. Hope you find something that works for you.
