G'day all,

I just have to say that I don't mind starting a new thread but then I don't have in front of me everyone's previous posts:(
So if I don't comment on anyone's post please don't think I didn't read it but at my age I need my memory refreshed frequently :D

I am having quite a good week with my visitor, it is always nice to show visitors the city you live in. My Dutch is improving as is her English. I am a bit limited walking wise so yesterday we went for a bit of a drive and it was a really nice day. She is so appreciative for everything we do (which isn't really that much) which makes you feel like doing that bit extra.:)
Tonight we will take her out to dinner and show her the casino. I don't like casinos but the casino complex here is quite spectacular and well worth a visit. Tomorrow morning she is on her way again to Sydney.

Slavika Your secret is safe with this gal :D . I have to disagree with you about being on your own. I always quite enjoy a few days on my own and do my own thing, have whatever I choose for dinner, like poached eggs, baked beans etc. and actually have control of the remote!!!! I am always pleased when dh is home again though. Next week he is in Sydney for 3 days.

I have to be off and get some lunch for my visitor.
See ya all tomorrow
Cheers
Maria

Hi, girls! Yes, I got my curly toe fixed. It wasn't a big deal and hasn't hurt much at all. I always seem to have a problem with pain medicine--that was the worst part of the whole deal, but now I just take aspirin once in awhile. I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a dressing change. Since it is about to fall off, I will be glad to have someone who knows what he is doing look at it. You can see the toe and it has a metal rod hanging out the end of it. Kind of gross!

We had a great weekend. My DIL cooked supper and had set the table with her grandmother's china and crystal for Kyle's BD. My, it was so pretty, but I am a paperplate kind of woman myself. We had to be so careful when we washed those things. And then Maddie's "Dorothy" BD party was so cute. She looked like a little doll in her ruby red slippers.

I have not had much time this week at work and am again off tomorrow to go back to the doctor. Anthrax, anthrax, anthrax! I am so sick of this subject! Seems like the terrorists won when we shut down our government until Tuesday.

Maria, I am so thrilled to hear that you are getting mobile again. And soon it will all be just like a bad dream.

Trudy - one of the neatest things I have ever experienced is seeing my children grow up and become responsible adults. I still have that joy to look forward to for the last one. He is in the process.

Lily - What is this about you working so much you can't check in? How are people reacting to the anthrax scare around you? We had two incidences of unexplained powder at our mail room and at vending the other day. They were both just powder and nothing serious at all. I think before this happened we saw powder in a lot of manufactured things and never thought a thing about it.

Take care, everyone, and have a great weekend!
Glenda

We are having our fall weather. 59deg. this morning. Everyone out walking with jackets.

Glenda: I'm with you. The media just does overkill all the time. And I'm sure ther has been lots of white powder in many places before, without all this attention. And how about the weirdos who have to get into the act and try playing a 'trick' on someone. They won't think it is so funny if they have to spend time behind bars.

Maria: Sounds like you are having an enjoyable time with your visitor. And I know what you mean about having to refresh your memory about posts. Some times I have to make notes for myself, so I can keep things straight.

Slavika: I think we all have the same sort of secret. It is nice now and then to be on ones own, eat what you want, or not, when you want, and have carge of the remote. But it is very nice to resume the partnership too.

Last night was one of those nights when I could not sleep and was out reading in the living room at 2:00a.m. until about 4:00a.m. :mad:So tonight it is hit the sack early. Hi everyone. See' you tomorrow. Ann

Hi Everybody My DH did make it home a bit earlier then expected.....so no need for the "peanut trap" tonight. :D
Tomorrow night we are going to have the grandchildren over for a "sleep-over". They have been asking to have one, so they will be pleased. :) so will the grandparents LOL.
I worked on a Christmas craft project all afternoon today, but I don't want to say what it was in case I get ambitious and make one for you know who,.......the friend I have tea with every Tuesday, and she posts on this board with us.....but I am not mentioning any names.....that's all I'm going to say. LOL :D
Well I'm going to bed now, so good night all, talk to you tomorrow.

Slavila I'm still waiting for my tree skirt.:s: Bet you thought I forgot:p

I sure will be glad when WW finds some one else to be leader at the Thursdays meetings. It sure make for a long week for me. Don't get me wrong I like what I do but I do get tired. There's is alot of back ground stuff that has to be done and the only way it gets done is if the leader does it.

I thought the topic this week was a important one. " Success Leaves Clues" It's really important that we focus on all the puzzle peices of weight loss. Not just the scale. Because as we all know the scale lies :?:

I have been reading the board when I get a chance. Sometimes I even print out a thread and take it along makes for entertaining reading at lunch.

Maria I was glad to see you are getting better. And getting around. Sounds as if your company is fun to have.

Glenda Glad you toe is getting better. I am not a fan of pain but pain pills and I don't mix well either. Years ago when I had Gallbladder Surg. I was equiped with a thing that was called a "fast ten" it delivered electric current to the surgery area and stopped pain without pain pills. I have to say I recovered really fast and I really beleive it was because I was not so drugged up. Just my opion.:o

Ann You seem to be mastering the computer really well. Good for you:) I too agree the media just floods us with way too much information. I think we don't need to know every little sneeze that happens in the world. Keep us aware yes but not running scard!

Peggy Just wanted you to know that I've enjoyed all the web sites you've sent us too. And did you get all you snowman to where they need to go?

Trudy How are you? Watch out for Slavika if she decides not to give you what she is making she'll recuit you to help her make more.

Slavika By the way I tried those "Cheery Cherry Pastries" and I must say they were excellent. DH like them real well as did I. Will only make them again when I can take them some where else and they won't be in the kitchen calling my name.:o

Lily You must be busy. Hope you get some down time so you can let us know how you are doing. Did you ever go to work for WW? If I remember you asked about the WW e-Tools? There is a on line journal, a recipe builder that figures out you recipe points, an on line food companion combined with the Dinning out companion. On line points finder and activity points finder. Also a weight tracker, and a place for you write you thoughtsThen there is access to The WW Recipes. Also Meal planners. And they finally fixed it so you can put in your maintaince points.

Well it's time I put this weary body to bed:yawn:

Hi ladies, Now I'm wondering what Slavika is making that she doesn't want you know who to find out. Maybe she can whisper it. We won't tell.:D Glenda I am happy to hear that you are doing well after your surgery. Maybe you could put a toe ring on the toe with the rod. A new fashion statement. I too am getting tired of the anthrax thing. They had a big thing at the local IRS building last week. Took a worker out in a big blue suit but it turned out to be nothing. A local restaurant worker found a vial of something on the salad bar and tasted it. He supposedly got sick. How dumb can you be? It also was nothing. I have a big 2 day craft show this weekend. The weather is supposed to nice but cool. Can live with that. We are in a huge tent. We are on the end so if it is hot we can go outside. But if it rains hard it gets a little mushy from all the umbrellas. They come in and shake them all over us. We got 20 snowmen assembled and named. We give them all names. It is funny how different they look even though they are all the same. I really like Jerome. Have a good weekend. Karen try to get some rest.

Glenda: Glad your toe surgery wasnt so bad. I have always had problems with Pian Medication to. Makes me sick for some reason.
They have put extra security precautions in out=r mail roon due to the scare. Nothing has happen at my office.

Ann: Its cooling off here to. Time to bring out the sweaters. Course when I wear one it turns out to be hot. :) Fall is coming but its not making up its mind yet here.

Slavika: Christmas crafts already? Like Karen said, we never did get our tree skirts. ALAS........:( I remember as soon as you said Christmas crafs :)

Karen: Never heard of the "fast ten" before. Sounds interesting. Hope they find a Leader for your meeting to. Im sure it is alot of added work, and you do need to rest to. Be interesting to see how my leader covers the topic this week. Will find out tomorrow!
No not working for WW. I am going to call them today as I never did hear anything further. I have been so busy lately at work that I havent had the time. But Im pulling out my Contact card now so I dont forget.

Peggy: We posted at the same time. Good luck at the craft fair this weekend! I couldnt name them, then I wouldnt beable to sell them :) Jerome is a cute name. Have to keep them if they have a name.

Everyone have a great day!

G'day all,

Back to just '2' again, my visitor left early yesterday morning. In 2 weeks time a cousin and her husband are in Australia on a holiday and will be in Melbourne staying with us for 5 days. That should be fun.

I have to agree with you all about the Anthrax scares. We have had so many hoaxes it is just ridiculous. It never ceases to amaze what sort of thrill people get out of reporting these hoaxes. Government is now talking of passing legislation that anyone caught gets 10 years jail, presently it is a maximum of 2 years.
I read that the Canadians are also sending troups to Afghanistan. Australia is sending troups next week. I still don't know if this is the answer to it all, but cannot think of a better solution either:(

Glenda good to hear you are well on the way to recovery. My steel rods are inside my toes and remain in place for the rest of my life, not half as impressive than having a steel rod poking out of your toe:D

Peggy good luck with your craft market. I love any sort of market and always have to stop at one should we pass one. I have even 'educated' dh and I think he almost enjoys them :D

I am going shopping with my dd this afternoon. I hope I can remember how to use my credit card ;) , I will just have to practice lots to get back into the swing of it.:D

I wonder if any of you know what a 'blue wren' is. It is the most gorgeous tiny little bird which is bright blue. I am not a real bird person but love these little fellows. I have a couple of pictures of them and my visitor bought me yet another one. On thursdaynight I spotted a bronze little wren in an art gallery which dh bought for me:love: I have decided to start collecting them as I come aross them in my travels.

DD has arrived so I better me on my way for the shopping spree!

Cheers

Hi everyone: This is the color of the seedpods on the rain tree that we have here in Fl. The closest we come to the Fall colors. It is a beautiful tree. Someday I'll be able to figure out how to post a picture.

I was a badn but also a good girl:D: today. Didn't go to WW as I went to an all day prayer retreat at our church. It was very good, and we all learned a lot about how to be better prayer warriors in the face of all that is going on.
So next week I have to face the scale again.

Maria-Glenda- So glad all the toes are doing well.Maria: I don't think it will take too long for you to remember how to use your credit card:D That is a skill I don't think we ever forget.

Slavika, Peggy- You crafty people are making me start to think about what I can do for Christmas. I just have to find the time to do anything in the crafty line.

Jerome is a great name. I agree, I don't think I could sell my named friends. :spin:

Tuesday is my dh surgery day. They tell him he will only be in the hospital overnight. They sure are in a hurry to put people out. Sometimes it is just too fast, in my opinion.

Lily: Sounds like you are very busy. I've have just made up my mind that I am not going to watch all the news anymore. I check the news on my home page, and read part of the paper, and that is it. I'm tired of all the speculation.

Looking forward to tomorrow night. Our church is having a Christian comedian It should be a fun evening, and a pleasure to hear funny stuff that is not smutty.

Have a good rest of the week end. Hi to Karen, Trudy, Geri. Talk to you later. Ann

Hi Everybody I got my flu shot yesterday. I have been getting them for about 3 or 4 years. People with diabetes are usually encouraged by their doctors to have the shot. I have never experienced any effects from them in the past. Yesterday, after receiving my shot I went grocery shopping and ran into a gal I met at WW some time ago and she told me she had been to see her doctor. I told her I had gone too, but just for a flu shot. She said, she doesn't get them anymore because a couple of years ago she was really sick (with flu like symptoms) the day after. I told her I had never felt sick from having the shot. WELL......this morning I woke up and felt like a truck had run over me. :( We had the grandchildren here for a sleep over, and I could hardly get out of bed. Every bone in my body hurt. Our Son picked the children up around 11:00 AM and then in the early afternoon I had a nap for about 1-1/2 hours and now I am feeling quite a bit better. I think I would rather be sick for just a "few" hours, then days with a flu, but I was really surprised I was sick at all. Do any of you gals get flu shots?????

Our Son managed to see quite a bit of New York during the 4 days he was there. He said if a road had 3 lanes for the traffic you can bet the cars are travelling 5 abreast, with horns honking all the time. :D He, and the co-worker he was travelling with, got tickets to see Dave Letterman. He said the show is held in the old Ed Sullivan building and he estimated the show could seat approx. 2000 people. He did not make any effort to see the ruins of the Trade Center. He said, it was not a tourist attraction anymore. I guess that is certainly true.

We got a new VCR and between DH and I we tried to figure out how to work it...........GRRRRRRRRRR
My advise gals, do not try programming a NEW VCR with your DH.
Fortunately, DS came to our aid. I get so angry with myself when I can't figure things like that out for myself. It took him only a 1/2 a minute to show me what to do.....I mean it's simple enough. :(

Maria I hope you enjoyed your shopping date with your DD and that you managed to find something you liked. :) I tried to look up "blue wrens" but I guess that is not the "real name" of the little birdie, so I came up empty handed. Lily and Karen oh Lordy, I thought you gals forgot about those "Christmas Tree Skirts". I think since I am busy doing, "you know what" for "you know who", you should ask "you know who" for a tree skirt. LOL LOL :D Peggy how did your craft show go. Did you gals sell all your snowmen? Trudy I understand you are out again tonight, I hope you have a lovely evening. :)
Ann I think we all get those nights from time to time when we are just are not going to sleep. I either get up and read for a bit or come to the computer. Glenda my husband's Mother and her sister both had the same beautiful Royal Crown Derby bone china dinner pattern called "Mikado". When they both died, I inherted both the sets. It is white with a blue pattern of Japanese figures, trees, and I think pagoda's. It looks best if placed on a matching blue table cloth or white. It's a bit busy I guess but over the years I have grown to love it. When I first got it, I only used it on "very special occasions", but over the years I decided that my meals looked better and tasted better if they were served on these nice dishes. I actually use them quite often now. Well I guess I talked enough for one night, see you all tomorrow. Night.

Maria: I read that to about all the others getting involved in the War. :(
I just hate this whole thing. Really wish there was another way.

I have Wren's in my yard. Not blue ones tho. They are brown and very cute. Would love to see a blue one. Right now we have a crow (hate them) that sits up in one of our trees. I smear it gives the "WOO HOO" whistle. I tell my DH the bird has been hanging around to many construction sites. (he thinks Im nuts) Getting old but Im not nuts yet! :)

Peggy: Going to a craft fair here tomorow. Hope I find some cute things. I do start looking now for Christmas gifts. How did the sale go? Did you ever find out if the Snowmen were shipable? Would still love to have a set, they are so cute.

Ann: the only way to post a picture here is attach to the message. When you reply there is a box at the bottom to attach a image. Click on it and look for it on your computer. Double click and it will bring it into the box. then just click on new reply and it will post. Need help email me at lilygib@yahoo.com
Im not reading the news much anymore either. I have been getting the Newsweek at work tho. Its for someone else that I do not know. :o
So I bring it home and have been reading it. ( i know bad me, but I dont know who to give it to. If I did I would). ;)
Your DH will be in my thoughts Tuesday. Keep us posted as to how he is.

Slavika: Us forget?????. No No. We may be old, but we remember the important things in life. Stopping here, as I also remember it caused a little commition last year. strangers coming in and asking for a skirt. :)
Oh my, your dinner set sounds beautiful. I have to agree on using it and making you feel special.
I dont have a full set of my Mom's, only 4 place settings. But I always pull it out when there are just 4 of us. And sometimes when its just me and DH. It really does add to the meal.

Did watch a great movie tonight. "Proof of Life" with Meg Ryan. I really liked it.
Way past my bedtime. So I best taddle off. And

G'day all,

Nice to have quite a few long posts to read:)
It is a glorious morning, I was up at 5.45 am (don't ask me why:?: ).
I had a lovely afternoon shopping with DD. She tried out some new make-up for the wedding, we ended up buying it. It was sort of middle of the road price eventhough it soon adds up. DH was at the horse races. The Spring Race Carnival here in Melbourne is quite an event. DH doesn't really like horse racing but if you are in Melbourne you MUST attend one of the races. DH couldn't get over the fashions (for one who is NOT a fashion guru that really means something:D ). The ultimate is the Melbourne Cup which is on the first Tuesday in November, dh says we have to go and that I would enjoy watching all the fashions and hats that are worn that day. I hope I am able to wear something other than running shoes.

Peggy I hope the craft fair was a huge success.

Ann Good luck with your dh's surgery. It is the trend here as well to get people out of hospital as soon as possible.

Lily I have checked a bit further and the 'Blue Wren' that I am talking of seems to only be in Australia. I managed to find a picture that I have reduced and attached to this post. The male is almost electric blue but the female is a little boring being just fawn. The ones you get may well be part of the same family.

Slavika About flu shots. I don't get them for the very reason you mentioned. Everyone I know who does get the shots has a bad reaction. I cannot remember the last time I had the flu (probably shouldn't have said that!) and have never bothered. Hope you are feeling much better again. As far as nice dinner ware, I totally agree. I only use beautiful dinner ware and also think the presentation of food etc. is just so much nicer. I don't have a 'best' dinner set. I inherited from my m-i-l a Royal Albert bone china teaset which I have in a display cabinet. I have been tempted to use it but know I would have to wash it by hand, I am a bit of a 'if it doesn't go in the dish washer I wasn't meant to have it' person.:D I also love beautiful linen, with everything matching.
I hope I don't upset anyone but what is it about David Letterman. :?: The only time I have seen him is when I cannot sleep and I see him in the early hours of the morning. I don't find him terribly funny, perhaps his sense of humour just doesn't appeal to me.
The driving in New York sounds a nightmare. Driving in Melbourne and in Sydney is bad but they do stick to their lanes.
Ah for peaceful little ol' Adelaide.

Well I have waffled long enough, have a great day all

Cheers
Maria

Good evening all:

Slavika: I have had a flu shot every year for many years, long before I retired from teaching. About the only thing I've ever experienced is tender spot on my arm. I really had to have them when I was in school with all the germs flying around, and now I just don't want to get the flu--or if I do, with the shot it will not be so severe.:p

Maria: The little blue wren is gorgeous. We don't have anything like that here in Fl. Up north we did have the North American Bluebird. a pretty bird, and in the days of DDT almost became extinct. But with careful planning, and everyone building hedgerow nesting boxes, they have begun to come back. Sounds like you had a nice shopping trip and didn't forget what to do. We had faith in you.

Peggy: Did you sell Jerome? Hope you had a successful sale.

We are having a lovely rainy evening. It is so good to see the lawns green again, and boats floating in the lake once again.

Lily: Thanks for the tip. As I get more and more familiar with this machine I'm getting braver. Now I know I can do the colors, I'm just lazy. :) My DH loves tv, and now it seems that I spend most of my evenings here fooling around with the computer, unless he finds something good to watch. Our tv tastes are quite different.:p

My Mom left me a lovely set of Homer Laughlin eggshell dinnerware, with a gold band. I just use it for special occaisions now. She also left me some great green depression glass in the Twisted Optic pattern. I've been filling that out on ebay. Got some really nice pieces. I know my girls like both, so now there will be something for each one, when I'm gone.Ilike nice linen, but not when I have to iron it. Sadly, we have become very casual now. The less fuss the better. Maybe it is not casual, just lazy.:D

Hi Everybody it's getting late and for some reason I am very tired tonight so I just stopped by for a minute. Maria it sounds like you had a very nice time shopping with your daughter. Good. :)
As for David Letterman, I don't find him funny either, and I have never watched his "whole" show yet. I know the 30 something group seem to enjoy him more then my peers do. I maybe shouldn't make a judgement about it since I really don't watch it.
Your "little blue wren" looks so cute. We certainly do not have a bird like that here.
Hi to everyone, and I'll "see" you all tomorrow. Good night.

Oh I am tired today. We had an absolutely beautiful weekend weather wise for the craft show. Usually it rains on Sunday. We did real well and yes Jerome was adopted to a new home. The crowd was huge - I understand the interstate was backed up for a while. I always like to see what other people are making. Naturally this year there was a lot of patriotic things. I had some old roofing slate that I painted flags on. Wish I would have made more. I painted a lot of little hearts with flags and made them into pins and they are gone. I had this old Uncle Sam suit that is child size. My mil gave it to me a long time ago. I made a thing out of dowel sticks and muslin and dressed it in that for decoration in our booth. I usually buy one thing for myself at this show. This year I bought a silver bracelet out of spoons. They cut the ends and hinge them somehow. They are unique and different. Now to get ready for the next 2 in November. Maria I would love to see a blue wren. I bet they are beautiful. My niece has bluebirds at her house in Kentucky. Is your hand sore from signing your name on all those charge slips from your shopping trip? I can't stay awake long enough to see Letterman or Leno. Are hats the big thing at the races? Ann I hope that the surgery goes well. These insurance companies just don't want you to stay in the hospital for any length of time. I just don't agree with that. Slavika how is that thing you are making for you know who going? What did your tree skirts look like? I made one in a class years ago. It is like the log cabin quilt pattern. It is made in velvets and silks. It has points on the end and a small ruffle on the edge. When you can't program something just ask the grandkids to do it. It seems like kids can do that stuff. My dh can only do the computer to play solitaire. He doesn't know how to get online but he is excellent with the remote to the t.v. Lily I think that crow likes you. We had a whole flock of them in the spring. They finally left. Did you see anything interesting at the craft fair? I like to know what sells in different parts of the country. I will have to check on the shipping but I know it is expensive. It is hard to get to my niece's mail room because of all the construction. It is over the bridge in Kentucky and they have been doing work forever on that part of the highway. If I can this week I will try to shrink them down a little. Well I have to go clean and do that stuff that didn't get down over the weekend. See you all later,

Maria: I dont think they are part of the same family. Ours dont have that big of a tail. Your bird is very pretty! That blue is awesome on him. Our Bluejays arent even that blue. Hes a very pretty bird!

Im with you, I dont get Letterman either. Never watch him. Alot of people do like him tho.

Ann: Im lazy to. Its easier for me to type in notepad while I read. Takes to much to add colors after that :) My DH and I dont like the same shows either. Very few I enjoy watching.

Peggy: No I didnt find anything to buy. Its was a real small one and not very many cute craft things. So I was pretty disappointed. :( Oh well this is the time of year for them, so Im sure I will be at others!
Yeah it probably would cost to much to ship as they are pretty big. Glad your fair was successful!

Slavika: Must of had a busy day to be so tierd. Course yesterday, I choose to be lazy and ended up taking a nap. Very rarely do that. It was nice!

Later!

Oh dear, oh dear, I just lost a complete post! I accidentally hit New Thread and I had written a great post, but lost it. Take it from me, you will never read a better bit of trivia. ALAS!

Summarizing - my toe is better, just black and blue with a wire hanging out of, actually working its way out. Pretty gross!

I hate smutty humor, like humor about body functions or body fluids. We are such a funny species, we don't have to rely on that to laugh, but tell Jim Carey. We need to laugh now more than ever!

Slavika - still patiently waiting for the tree skirt. ALAS!

Everybody have a great day!

Hi Everybody Well gals, I saw the dentist today and he had a clear plastic duplicate made of my plate, with these 3 white lines running down the "gum line". This will be sort of his working model to show him where the screws/cylinders will be positioned in my jaw. Then over the next six months or so the implants and the bone in my jaw are allowed to bond together to form anchors for my artificial teeth. My appointment for the implants is on November 21st at 8:00 in the morning and it will take 3 to 4 hours.
Ann did your husband have his surgery today or is it tomorrow? Let us know how he is doing.
Glenda Yikes, you're waiting for a tree skirt too. It's to bad we don't all live near each other, then we could meet at each other's place and work on our Christmas projects together. That would be fun, except that Lily and Karen would probably still want me or Trudy to make one for them. LOL :D. Peggy the tree skirt you made sounds just lovely but I think you must be a very talented lady. Maria don't you see your doctor in the couple of days? How are you doing?

Well I guess that's it for me, I hope to see the gals tomorrow for tea time. I will have to think of some little goodie to bake. Talk to you all later. Night.

G'day all,

As you may have noticed I have decided to change my 'bargain hunter' avatar to my little blue wren.:)
As far as I can tell they are only in Australia, hence the name Australian Blue Wren.

Peggy Sounds like you had a very successful day at the fair. Your purchase of the silver bracelet sounds interesting.

Glenda don't you just hate it when you loose a well thought out post. Good to hear your toe is on the mend.
I went this morning to have xrays taken and on thursday I will be going to see the specialist. I just hope that the bone has fused:^: . I asked the girl who took the x-rays but of course she would not tell me.:(
The place where I had the Xrays done is on a road which is just full of factory outlets for clothing, naturally I had to have a bit of a browse and bought some nice 3/4 white pants and a bright yellow and white striped top. Just the thing for the warmer weather coming on.
I also had my face 'de-fuzzed' (I know you were all dying to know this:D ), bought another book at a second hand shop and came home early afternoon. It is now just after 4, dh is in Sydney for a few days, I have had a shower, washed my hair and I am in my pj's feeling very comfortable!

Slavika Good to hear something is happening about your implants. My feet seem rather insignificant compared to the procedure you are having done, that is a very long process but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. Will you be under some sort of anaesthetic (spelling????) when you have this done on November 21?

DH has just send me an email from Sydney to let me know that we will be leaving Melbourne to go to Adelaide on January 17, wedding January 26 and then leave for Sydney January 30. Not sure how long in Sydney before the next move to wherever. :dizzy:

I might go and play a bit of canasta before warming up my left-overs from last night for dinner:)

See ya tomorrow
Cheers
Maria

Slavika: Me make a Tree skirt??????? To funny!!!!!

Of course I want you or Trudy to make mine. I want a tree skirt not something silly looking. And If I made it, trust me it would be a diaster! I will work on your computer while you make mine ok?
Your surgery on the teeth does not sound like a fun thing at all! 4 hours? Yikes! But it will all be better when it is over with.

Glenda: Glad your toe is doing so much better. The Black and blue will probably take a while to go away. It is a pain when you make a long post and it disapperas into cyberspace. ALAS.......

Maria: Love the wren by your name! Its such a pretty bird. I want you to send some over here, to my yard :) On the move again in Jan. I see.
Just dont know how you do it.

Later!

Lily boy if you lived closer to Trudy and I, we'd work our poor little fingers to the bone to have somebody show us "new stuff" on the computers.

Maria I just wanted to tell you that I don't think my implants will compare with the surgery you had on your feet. The Periodontist just freezes my mouth as a dentist would do when you get a root canal or have a tooth extracted. Apparently the implants are about as painful as those procedures. I think the big thing with this surgery is that the Periodontist must be very careful not to damage the nerves in my face/jaw when putting those screws in. I told him to get a good nights rest, before my surgery. :D I'm a little bit scared.....but I'm sure I'll be happy with the results when it's all done. :) :)

Good night everybody, talk to you tomorrow.

Maria I was just browsing through one of my favorite painting sites. It is an Australian site. I came across this sketch of a blue bird. Is it the Australian blue wren?http://www.nightowlcrafters.com/aa/vickiescr.html On the menu click on tips then click on painting.

Hi Everybody Well I just looked outside and the snow is completely covering the grass....well my grandchildren will be excited tomorrow morning if the snow stays. Doesn't excite me too much though. :(
Did the shopping/lunch thing with my friend today, and we had a nice day in spite of the bad weather.
What are you all up to, the board is very quite tonight. I taped some new music to encourage me to walk longer on the treadmill. I have to really put in some effort if I am to get back to my goal weight. RATS, it's always such a struggle.
Maria I guess tomorrow you go to see the specialist. I'm sure everything will be just great. :) Peggy today I saw a cute little painted sign in a craft store that said, "For faster service, please press button"..............the "button" was glued on the center of a mouse trap. :D I have a little painted sign in my kitchen that my sister in-law gave me a couple of years ago that says, "I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either." It was simple to make, so I made up one and gave it to our WW Leader. :)
Good night all.

I know you will all smile to yourself and say 'I told you so'!!!!!
I went to the doctor this morning and he is quite amazed how well I am doing. I have one problem, he assures me it is minor, and that is the scar tissue where my neuromas were removed. This is where I have most of the discomfort and prevents me from walking for any length of time. I will now have physio once a week where this area will be massaged. I was told it will probably be about 6 visits before it is really good.
I am very pleased and it is good to know whatever I do, I cannot do any damage.:)

Peggy What a great site, I will have to have good look around. Lots of interesting stuff.
The bird is not a blue wren, it is a kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family. Again I am not sure if they are only in Australia. I used to have them in my garden in Adelaide, they are not quite as blue as illustrated (at least not the ones I had in my garden) they are about as big as a crow and they make a sound like they are laughing, hence they are also called the laughing bird. They love fresh mince meat and can become quite tame.
There 'laugh' is very loud. There is a children's song and the words are:

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh kookaburra laugh,
oh how gay your life must be.

It does show how old the song is, once upon a time the word 'gay' meant just that:D
I am sure you have all found this rivetting information:D When next you are at a dinner party and there is a lull in the conversation, I am sure this will come in very handy!

Slavika It has been a bit quite on the boards, everyone must be very busy.
I so agree with this continual weight struggle, there never seems to an end to it.:(

DH is home tonight. He has been a bit down lately but he had a very successful few days in Sydney albeit very hectic.
It is amazing what a bit of positive feedback can do for the old morale:)

I must be off and have a look at Peggy's site she posted.

Cheers
Maria

 Maria, GREAT NEWS...... I am so happy for you. Some physiotherpy, and you will be walking and dancing up a storm. :) :)

Did you gals ever realize that men and woman worry differently. Last week, the telphone compnay was doing some work in my area and some how managed to disconnect my phone service. It was out for a 1-1/2 days. A friend had tried calling me, and although the phone would ring, it would not ring in MY house nor of course would my answering machine pick up the call. After trying serveral times to reach me, she decided I must be in the hospital. LOL. She phoned again, the next day just after 5:00 thinking she would get my DH and would ask him if I was indeed in the hospital. I said to my DH, if you tried and tried to reach someone by phone, who normally had their answering machine on and they didn't answer their phone and you couldn't leave a message what would you think happened. He said, "well the guy could be out of town and turned his machine off or his phone wasn't working". :D

I had a good walk on the treadmill this morning, and now that I have cooled down, I will go outside and feed my poor little birdies and squirrels, and head for the shower. The snow did stay on the ground, not much, and just really WET. :(

Talk to you all later.

Maria: Great news on the toes! I dont know if I could handle having mine massaged tho. I think I would probably laugh all the way through it. My feet are real tickish.

Slavika: Snow??????? Yuck! Dont envy you! Pretty funny about your friend! I think it would worry me to though. Hi Kyle!!!!! What doing?

I cant believe people sometimes. I was driving to work and these 2 idiots were fighting for space on the road. One just had to be in front of the other. The one guy did spin out and ending up over on the other side of the road. They were right in front of me. And he almost hit me.
Good thing I was alert to it all. When I saw it getting worse I slowed down and backed way off. If I would of been closer he would of hit me. Just makes me nervous. :(

Lily - I am so glad you are cautious! From what I hear about the freeways there is a lot of road rage in your area. Just keep being cautious!

Slavika and Trudy - SNOW? It is just Oct. 25th! Does that bode a bad winter? I can get depressed just thinking about snow. Maria, you are at the start of your summer and that sounds so much better than where we are--at the start of our winter! Hey, congratulations with the feet! You are through the hard part. Now all you have to do is lie back and let someone massage your feet for you!

I go to the doctor tomorrow. I am hoping he will take the wire out of my toe. It looks gross, but it is straight!

A great day. Brough my dh home from the hospital yesterday. He is doing well. A visiting nurse stopped by today, andshe also said he is doing well. He is just experiencing discomfort, but we are told that is nothing unusual for the 'rotor-rooter' procedure.:D

Slavika: Snow. Yuck. Glad we don't have to do that any more. Your dental work sure sounds extensive. Good luck to you with the whole thing. I sure can identify with the struggle to get back to goal. Neverending.

Maria: Great news. And hope you like to have your feet massaged. Also there is a great whirlpool foot bath that is wonderful.

Glenda: Good news about your toe too. Does the wire come out all by itself?

Lily: Road rage is so dangerous, and also so ridiculous. People are hard to understand. Get behind the wheel , and take their lives in their hands, without any thought to others around them. Please always be just as careful as you were this time.

Hi everyone. Karen, Trudy, Peggy.

I just realized that the post I wrote yesterday never made it to the thread. Wonder why? Anyway we are home and doing well.
See you tomorrow. Ann

I had to go into town to do some chores (paying bills etc), I was in town but half an hour and it really started to bucket down. What is a gal ;) to do but stay out of the rain and do a bit of shopping:D
I bought a nice pair of navy pants and a great top, I then had a coffee when I noticed there was a fashion parade on. Finished the coffee, got myself a seat and watched the fashions. Nothing that would fit me but just lovely to watch some beautiful fashions on some beautiful models.

I then went to look at some shoes.........I have been told that 'Ecco' walking shoes are very good but they are extremely expensive (over $200 :(), well there just happened to be a pair of last year's model (and who would care) reduced to $119 and then further reduced by another 25% :dizzy:, we also get a further discount because we have shares in this department store, so how could I have possilby left them sitting there, it was practically a give away:D At this price I am happy to try them out and if they are as comfortable as people tell me, I won't mind paying full price for the next pair in 4 years time!
I am right in the swing of it again and loving it:D

Ann good to hear your dh is doing fine, I won't ask what a 'rotor-rooter' procedure is, it doesn't sound pleasant:dizzy:

Glenda I am starting to believe you that I will be very pleased with having my feet done. Pleased your toe is now straight. We shall compare feet if ever I was to get to America for a holiday (or if you were to visit Australia)

Lily that must have been frightening having a couple of idiots behaving like that on the road and there is nothing you can do. Road rage must be prevalent all over the world :( Just you take care.

slavika Snow so soon, you must have an awfully long winter. Weather here is a bit crazy as it often is in spring, warm weather forecasted for the weekend :)

DD and fiancee are coming to dinner so I had better start getting a bit organised for that. DD is been having Uni exams and has been a bit stressed out. She received a 'high distinction' for one of her exams today so I bought her a box of her favourite Lindt chocolates on the condition she takes the box unopened home :D

Hi to everyone, hope everyone is well
Cheers

It is really windy here. They said possible snow flurries later. Can't believe that since it just October. I have been mulching leaves daily. It is frustrating to do in all the wind. Maria I just read about those shoes. You really got a bargain on them. Let us know how they feel. Love those Lindt chocolates. When I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout we used to sing that kookaburra song. Lily some people turn into idiots when they get behind the wheel of a car. Have you ever watched some of them put on makeup and shave? I have seen them reading while they are on the highway. And then there are the cell phone users weaving all over the place. Be careful out there. Ann glad your dh is home. Hope that he is feeling better soon. Glenda hope the wire comes out and the toe is fine. Slavika that was a funny story about the phones. Have a nice day and do something fun today,
