Hey everyone! I bought me a double disc dvd of Yoga Booty Ballet and I love it! I bought the Latin Flavor one. It is so much fun! One of the disc's is 40 min. and the other one is 50 min. I've just done the 40 min. one all the way through and I feel like I got a 40 min. work out but it feels like it only took 15 min. lol. Usually I get bored 10 min. into it and quit but I don't w/ these. I haven't done the 2nd disc yet all the way through because I don't have a squishy ball that they use. Has anyone tried any of the other dvd's? I would recomend YBB to everyone! lol

OMG I just got these videos too. I got the "starter" set at Target. It included the beginner, advanced, cardio cabaret and an ab workout. It also included the booty ball (a 6" rubber ball for squeezing). So far i have done the beginnier one a few times and tried the advanced one once. I LOVE IT! It is so much fun and I love it!

It is fun! lol And it makes me want to keep doing it cause I want to look as graceful as they do especially when they go into the yoga part of it lol. I'm going to have to get the starter kit from target and try that one also :)

I agree the yoga is the hardest! I do feel like i am getting better at it. Some of it is just trusting myself. Trusing that if I bend that way I will not fall over! But I try a little bit more each time. Yesterday I got from up dog to down dog in one motion (without landing and then pushing myself up again!) The ballet is great and so is the strength training. The meditiation makes me laugh sometimes!
Namaste!!

I did yoga booty this weekend with a friend...this is one exercise better to do on your own! We spent the whole time laughing! But doesn't that burn calories too? :-D We started counting how many times they say "make it funky" we got to 11 in a 35 minute video!!

Oh I think it totally works! I can tell that my stomach has gone down from the ab portion of it. I have that horrbile "roll" lol and it looks like it's gone down in the 2 weeks that I've done it. I haven't got to do it in a couple of days though and I'm sad lol. I'm going to do it tonight so I'll feel better tonight lol.

I just got YBB today! I think I have the starter kit that a few of you have mentioned. I'm planning to watch some of it tonight to see what it's like, and then do the Beginner part a few times this week, and start the whole thing for real on Monday!

I'm excited to! I have wondered about it since I saw an infomercial at work a couple of months ago... and decided not to spend the money on it because a few other members said that TurboJam was better. Though, after I read this thread I felt excited again and went out to Target today and bought the starter set. I watched it and gave it a try and LOVED IT! I don't think they are silly at all- they're good instructors because they make you feel what they do- they make ya love it too. ^-^ Has anyone been sticking with it and seeing or feeling the results?

I've been doing it at least 4 times a week and I'm seeing results. It has really helped with my middle section "roll" even though I've only been doing it for 2 or 3 weeks. And I think it's really going to help tone that way I don't have as much excess skin lol when I'm done. Kate, I think it's a great idea to watch it a couple of times before you start actually doing it. I did and I didn't feel as uncordinated lol when I started doing it.

I am noticing it in small ways...I feel more balanced and my "back end" feels a little tighter.

Which set is better- YBB's normal routines or their live workouts? So far I like the look of the normal routines, very peacefuly- I haven't watched a live one yet. Where is everyone buying their YBB videos? Online in a store?

Well it sure sounds like you're all enjoying these DVDs which is GREAT. I was thinking of purchasing them as well. But I have a question first. I was just wondering how aerobic this is? In other words is it hard on the knees. I've got bad knees and I've been doing the WATP dvds and it is a bit rough on the knees, so I need something that ISN'T so I can change it up a bit. If any of you gals could let me know I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Some YBB is very aerobic. Remember we're talking a mixture of yoga, ballet exercises, and dance routines. But I would suggest if you have the bad knees and you try YBB to focus on the yoga and strength routines. I have the starter set, and haven't gotten through it all yet, but there isn't a lot of impact, and where there is, you could modify it, depending on just how bad your knees are.
However, if I were you, I'd look into something like Pilates which gives you a great core workout without using your knees much at all.

I just wanted to say that I got the "starter set" at Target for about $35 recently, and I'm so glad I did! I've been eyeing YBB for a long time, and finally went for it. I'm in relatively good shape, and I teach Hatha Yoga, but the routines really challenge me. I've got a lot of videos in my home, but I think this is one series I will never get bored with. I can see why some people would think Gillian and Teigh are silly, but I keep in mind that they are professional dance instructors and are really trying to put across their energy, their sensuality, their confidence, and their positive mental attitude. I would call YBB a "goddess workout."
I also recommend a good Pilates series like Stott or Winsor or Rael. Not aerobic, but Pilates has transformed my body where yoga and aerobics couldn't. It focuses on your core strength, helps you have better form and posture, get stronger and more graceful. It helps me walk taller, pull my belly in, breathe more fully, and really *think* about how I move in daily life.
Hope all this helps someone. :yoga:

Well my set finally came. I did the just watch to see whats going on viewing last night .
Will be giving it a try tonight. My set came with a recommended order to doing the workout, but since I don't have all of the DVDs I can't really follow that. How does everyone else integrate them into their workout routine? :yoga:

Obbsidianbbw, I'd be real curious to hear how you like them. Please let me know.
I just ordered from ebay, Pilates for Dummies. I am looking forward to giving that a try.

I use the YBB - AM Latte workout for a morning routine alternately with walking in the morning. I use the YBB Live full body and the goddess Abs if I'm working out in the evening. When I'm just walking around the house on the weekends, I strap on ankle and wrist weights while I'm cleaning or doing laundry, etc. Just some suggestions!

I've got bad knees and the only part about YBB that I needed to adjust was the resistance section. The weighted squats put a little too much pressure, so I just lightened the weights and lessened the bends. The other parts of the YBB series are glorious- The cardio cabaret is wonderful and light hearted.

Ya my knees aren't in the best of shape and my dr. actually made me stop doing curves (but this was also when I had first started WW) and I haven't had any prob. doing these excercises. Now like on the Yoga stretching at the end I can't do the pose and I think it's called the child like pose. Anywho, I love how they tell you that if something is to difficult to motifiy it. Not many dvd's do that. It's the best one that I've done so far. I had bought one from Extreme Makeover and thought "hmmm.....surely big girls can do this" boy was I wrong lmao.

Thanks for the knee input girls. I apreciate it. Another question, is it hard to follow? Something tells me it is. I kinda like simple.

It is not hard to follow at all! I would though suggest that you watch it like once or twice that way your not completly lost. I found it really easy to catch on :)

ey robin, I finally got a chance to go through the DVD. I might be repeating what others have said.
I bought the 2 disc set from amazon.com.
It comes with 2 discs which include
basic YBB
Advance YBB
Hip Hop Abs
Cardio Cabaret
I did the basic this morning.
I think this is ok for people with knee issues (I can actually hear my knees creek when I try and squat)
I would say on the basic section the "aerobic" portion is more like aerobic toning. All the exercises seem to involve squats/lunges. For these I did one of the following depending on the exercise.
-Didn't go as low
-Did only every other one
-did just the arms
I felt like I still got a good work out.
I also looked at the Cardio Caberet.
If you can sway side to side you should be ok. There are some bounces, but for those I would just take a step or just stay in place. There isn't alot of "march it out" from what I can see, but I am going to go through it tomorrow so I'll add to the post.
One last thing. I think the first disk is more "yoga-y" and you do more stretching and toning. The second seems to be more aerobic and more of a sweat work out.
Okay, that's really good to know. I think I'm just about ready to take the plunge and order them. Thanks.

I just did cardio Caberat. I have a new favortie.
Again with any hoping or bounces I modified. It is very dancey for people who don't like that things, but for me it was a great work out. Time went by very quickly.

Thank you so much for the info. It was useful to me.
