G'day all,

What a busy time it is for me, I thought I would start a new thread to relax a bit;)
DH is away til the end of the month in Malaysia so I am now doing his little part time job as well, a bit more challenging then I initially thought:(
I have also yet another website to do for someone who wants to rent out their holiday home over the net and of course I am called on to look after either Matilda or Poppy or both!!!!
We got our Navman F20 with all the American maps (bought direct from america over the internet) .
We thought we would buy the software for the Australian maps so we could have a practice before we go.
To buy the Australian maps from the Navman site it would have cost us $350.00, I found a UK site and they charged me......$120 and that included the postage:eek::high:
It is hard to believe but yesterday I received it and it works a treat!
So all in all we spent a little less then $500 buying it all on-line when it would have cost us over $1000 had we bought it all the convential way.

I was out first thing this morning to get some shopping and I now intend to stay home with the aircon as it is yet another very hot day.:hot::hot:

By now I guess Slavika will be in Maui, hope you will enjoy the warmth of Maui.
Good to hear Glenda is well and as far as I can gather everyone else is well as well:)

Take care all,

01-10-2007, 06:29 PM
I am so glad to be posting again. Hallelujah! So, Slavika is in Maui and Karen is home and Trudy is an official senior. Wow! Trudy, I just hope you get over your cold soon. We are being warned over and over again that this weekend we will have ice and icy air from your part of the world. Brrrr!

Maria, congrats on the new baby! It took us a long time to get a girl and you have 3 of them already! So is Matilda getting used to her baby sister? When Austin got a new baby brother, he went through a real ordeal where his regular babysitter had to tell his parents she couldn't handle him anymore. It took about 6 weeks before he got back to normal. Must have been traumatic but now, of course, those two can't be separated.

It was nice to hear a little bit from Lily again. Guess everybody is well and managing well. Are any of you kind of sick of seeing the commercials for weight loss? I do not like the young girl who just ahhhhhs! and ooooohs! because she used to be a SIZE 10! And now she is a size 2! Oh my! Poor baby! (Being a bit sarcastic!) But I cannot relate AT ALL!

01-10-2007, 11:18 PM
G'day all,

Good to see you Glenda and that you are all well and chirpy again:):)

Matilda is fine with little Poppy, she sort of ignores her a bit but every now and then has the urge to kiss Poppy. Poppy is a very good little baby but I think a lot has to do with her mother, she is so casual and relaxed and that is certainly is reflected in Poppy. She is back training again and when I called in the other night she was about to leave with Poppy in one arm (a bit like a handbag!) her training gear in the other:dizzy::dizzy: She assured me she would not be doing too much training. DS is still on holidays so all is working quite well for them.

I have always been sick of all these weight loss advertisements , if it was so easy none of us would be struggling.

DH is getting homesick in Malaysia, he has only been there a week:rolleyes: the extra spending money he is earning is a good incentive to get over the homesickness;)

I had a bad nights sleep, at 3.45am my smoke alarm went off, have no idea why as there was no smoke and the batteries have just been replaced. I investigated everything and the alarm went off again by itself:?: I went back to bed and then just laid awake thinking about everything and by 5.15 I thought I might as well get up!

Hope I have a better sleep tonight.

01-11-2007, 10:47 AM
Maria, that is so creepy! It is always worse when you are alone too. Can you ask somebody's opinion to see why it is screeching when no smoke? Regarding your DIL, I just always have to remember that young people raising kids have so much more energy than we do. And that is a good thing. I am always amazed I raised 3 kids in my little house. How did I do it?

I joined a Lighten Up team here at work and wish now I hadn't. It is a commitment until May. Yuck! We weigh once a week in a lady's office and we eat together on Friday. Maybe I will get inspired soon.

I have two weeks of talking stored up. Where is everyone else?

01-13-2007, 11:01 PM
Aloha Everybody: Hi Lily how nice to "see" you on the board again, and Happy New Year to you too. Sounds like you are all doing well except my poor friend TRUDY with the miserable cold she has. My flight to Maui seems to get longer as I get older, I have to say flying first class sure was nice but the trip was still very long and very boring. We`arrived in the evening and it just smelled so nice out, Early the next day we went grocery shopping as the cupboards were bare. The weather has be just great even with the scare of the tsunami yesterday. The temp is around 82 every day. We had some rain but that was at night and one morning very early. I miss my David so much but somehow it's easier for me be here. I just can't believe how much he did for me and how much I just took it for granted.  I suspose it was a two way street....married people just do things for each other and we don't always think too much about it. I sure don't like using the web mail but I am getting a little bit better with it. The other adjustment I've had to make is to use the keyboard on laptop where at home I have a normal sized keyboard the I use with the laptop. I get home on March 18 and soon after Maria will be arriving....that will give me something else to look forward to. I hear the weather at home is just butt freezing cold, so I am very happy to be missing that. GLENDA I am so happy :carrot: :) that you are back to your old self. I don't have much more to tell you all...Lily will be sad that I have not seen Tom. Most of my days are spent at the ocean, little bit shopping, visiting with friends and LOTS of eating. YIKES! Aloha for now gals, it was nice reading the posts.
Aloha

01-15-2007, 04:52 PM
Hi everyone: I guess I have been among the missing again. And not for any particular reason either.

Trudy: Now you are a member of the retired elite. Hope by now your cold is better. I have been fighting one since December 11, and got antibiotics and all, but I still have a cough that drives me batty. (battier than usual) :D: There was an article in our newspaper that said that everyone who had the particular virus going around could expect to cough for at least a month after the worst was over. I am well into the month.

Slavika: Your Maui vacation is sounding lovely. I must admit that I wouldn't have enjoyed the Tsunami scare, but thankfully it didn't materialize.

Maria: That is a bit disconcerting to have the smoke alarm go off in the middle of the night, and with no reason. And being alone doesn't help I'm sure. It sounds like you are getting very well prepared for your trip. It sounds like Matilda is adjusting very well to Poppy being there. Hope you get all your work done easily.

Glenda: It is nice that you are feeling better, And I agree with you I get tired of all the weight loss adds. They always make it sound so easy, and that 'just eat their food' and you will lose weight, guaranteed. There are several adds that really irritate me. We have one for the Boys Club, where a man and his dog are in the park. And the dog gets shaking this pink pillow thing, and the man makes him leave it alone, saying it must be somebodys butt, they lost while playing with their kids. I mute the station when that one comes on. It doesn't really make much sense to me. Just irritating.

We have started rehearsals for our spring show now. I think that it will be fun. We are doing a patriotic show, and one that covers a bit of American history. Everyone seems to be liking the music, and especially since it is not too hard.

Hi Karen, Gloria, Peggy, Bernice- You too seem to be among the missing. I hope that none of you are battling the bad colds that are touring the country.

I'll try to be better about posting. Ann

G'day all,

A very eventful couple of days.....

Late yesterday afternoon I looked after Poppy whilst David, Peta and Matilda went to the beach. When they returned David went to the shops and Peta and Matilda looked at some photos, the next thing we heard this allmighty crash, we both flew outside, immediately thinking of David and found a smashed in car out the front of my place on the road, we didn't realise that the red car was at the end of my drive in my neighbours front!
The lady evidently did not give way and the other car going at high speed, hit her. Four young lads were in the other car (heap of rusted metal that passes as a car:mad:) None were hurt but all were in shock.
The car was pushed off the road and in no time people came from everywhere to offer assistance. Peta is a police woman and knew what had to be done, we got some wet towels from my house and then a doctor and a nurse 'happen' to be passing and came to help.
Before we knew it there were 2 fire trucks, 4 police cars and 2 ambulances.
The 'jaws' of life opened the red car like a tin of sardines, amazing.
The daughter of the injured woman told me that her mother has very bad osteo perosis and was hospitalised last week when she broke a bone by coughing:(
The ambulance people were amazed she was conscious but she was in a lot of pain.
When something like this happens and I have never witnessed anything like this first hand before, you have to take your hat off to all those services who are there almost immediately to assist. :cp:
I would prefer not to witness where some of my taxes go but any taxes going to support these people is well spent.
The picture attached is the car before the tow truck came to collect it, my house is on the left.

On a brighter note, I have a free voucher to get a session at 'Curves' which I will be trying when the weather cools, 40 degrees today:(
Curves has not been long in Australia and I have heard some of you talk about it so i thought I would give it a go. I will have to be as fit as I can for my America adventure!

Slavika good to see you post and good to here the Tsunami petered out and all is well. I am really pleased to hear that you have found it OK to be in Maui and that you are enjoying the warmth.

Ann you are busy as usual, as patriotic show sounds good. The hardest thing will be what to leave out with a history as rich as Americas.

Glenda 'Lighter Up' sounds interesting but I am a bit like you, I cannot be bothered with any commitments. If I have to pay a joining fee for Curves (I read on a website that the joining fee is $149.00) I won't be doing it.
I may continue with it for quite some time but I do not want to fork out $149.00 in case I decide that it is not for me.

'Hi' to everyone else, hope your days have been less eventful then my day yesterday!

01-15-2007, 08:32 PM
Another 'missing' member is speaking up. Until just recently nothing was going on in my life. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, dr's visits....and on and on.
Then, right after the new year we heard from all four kids and they are getting together on a 50th Anniversary celebration for us. We were told to keep the 2nd week of July free. DS and his family will be coming up from NC and every one else will be here. Hurray! DS was planning to go to Ca to visit his wife's sister and her family this summer but changed his plans they the CA family said they would love to see Cape Cod so they are coming East. His MIL who lives only a block from him in NC will be here as well. It seems the for once all four are 'working well with others' as one of them put it.:) They are reserving a room at a local restaurant, one that we love, and I am sure there will be lots of back and forth between the various local homes. We can hardly wait.
DH said the we should consider getting new LR furniture and I don't disagree. It is 20 years old and is the only room for reading, watching TV and anything else that requires comfortable seating thus it gets a lot of wear.

Maria Your progressing nicely in your trip preparation. That Navman should come in handy. I wonder if you had windows open and wind was the culprit in the smoke alarm problem. My first floor smoke alarm is always going off when I cook but I can understand that. We just got carbon monoxide detectors, one for each floor. It is now a law the you must have them especially if you want to sell your home. We are not selling but thought it was a good idea to get them....I just hope they don't go off!

Slavika Happy to seeing you are enjoying Maui. That was some scare about the Tsunami but that it was a false alarm was a good thing. We are definitely getting into the Winter season, finally so enjoy the great sun and sea while you can.

Glenda I know what you mean about raising your family in a small house. I often look around and wonder how we lived with 4 kids in a 3 bedroom house.

Ann Sorry to hear your cough is staying with you for so long. That is a very tiring thing to go through. We are just starting our Winter and you are beginning your Spring musical....I hope our Spring will follow as rapidly.

Trudy I hope you are feeling better.

Gloria PS: Our Anniversary isn't really until September

01-17-2007, 11:41 AM
Gloria: A lovely family celebration is great, and who cares if it is early. The great part is all the kids are doing it for you and agreeing about it.:D: And now you are finally getting winter.

Maria: What a bit of excitement you had. It is amazing that the folks in the red car weren't injured more that you said. It was certainly a pile a junk but the time the 'Jaws' got finished with it. It is wonderful what all the proper authorities are trained to do, and do it so well. Your photos might come in handy for insurance purposes and court and all that stuff. I hope you like Curves. I do like it, and I have been a member now for three years. I pay once a month. Wait a bit and sometimes they have specials where the fee is reduced for joining.

Glenda: Hope all those storms have not affected you too badly. Ice and sleet are bad for travel, that is for sure. I'm glad that we don't have to face that anymore.

I am fighting what I would call a 'hot' tooth. And deliberating about calling the dentist. I don't want another big dentist bill, and so am hoping that it will ease off a bit. It has a crown on it, and I am afraid that I will probably lose the tooth.

I work at the church office this afternoon, and then tomorrow we are driving for a car dealership. It is an easy morning, and we get paid. Never a dull moment around here.

We sold tickets at our coffee hour for our Showtime program coming up in Feb. We have to sell 120 tickets to break even. Right now we have 49. We have to push some more.

Happy January to you all. Ann

01-17-2007, 11:41 AM
Maria, I couldn't quite picture what happened in the wreck. Was the car in the picture your neighbor's car? She was backing out of her driveway? So, if that is true, she was at fault, right? I was just trying to understand the scenario. Just glad no one was hurt, but that is not the way to liven up a day.

We are still in the grip of winter. You all may have seen us in the news. Oklahoma had a huge ice storm, but we didn't lose our electricty. So many people did who had frozen rain. And trees fell on houses and it is just a mess. Our roads are still pretty bad, but we made it to work the last two days. You really have to concentrate to drive. And, we just heard snow is coming this weekend. What happened to that global warming stuff? But, as I understand it, unusual weather is a sign of the global warming and this is very unusual.

Ann, you and Trudy have not been faring too well with your coughs and illnesses. Seems the only thing is to endure and it will finally go away. Ann, you do know how I would love to trade homes for awhile. I would love some real sunshine rather than this watery bright stuff.

Slavika, you seem to be having a good time. When does the family come over? I know it is different without your David. I have thought a lot about how much my hubby does for me and how lost I would be, but you are doing well. And I am glad that Maui is a good tonic for you. Shop and eat and shop some more.

Karen, you haven't said much about your holiday. Is your mom doing okay? I am glad you got to spend so much time with your family. Did you get a dose of cold weather?

Gloria, how nice that your whole family will be here for the big celebration! And it is always wonderful when they work together so well. 50 years! We aren't too far behind, working on the 44th year. I know it will be fun, especially when they will be visiting back and forth. I remember doing this for my mom and dad and my daddy was just so appreciative of getting to visit with his old friends. That was a good memory.

Send me warming vibes. Please! By the way, I lost 2 pounds this week!

01-18-2007, 12:29 AM
G'day all,

Glenda I can understand that it is confusing but the car belonged to a person who did not give way to her right, was hit, got airborn and somehow landed where she did some fifty meters from the intersection.
The drive on the photo is MY drive!! I still cannot fathom how that car got where it did, it is a long way from the intersection:dizzy:
By the way good work on the loss of 2 pounds!:carrot:

Ann that is good to hear that you are still a member of Curves. It has been very hot and I have been very busy but I will soon go and use my free visit and see what it is like.
Good luck with the selling of tickets for your show, all these sort of things are hard work.

Gloria your anniversary celebrations sound great. What a nice lot of kids you have to organise that for the both of you.

DH is returning from Malaysia on Sunday morning at 9am and has a meeting at our house in the afternoon and then the kids for a roast dinner at night. I hope he gets some sleep on his flight otherwise he is going to find the day hard going!

We are supposed to be getting a tropical type storm with a lot of rain. Everything is so dry and so many things have died because the lack of water, I certainly hope we get the rain. I checked the satellite image and it does not look too promising, it may go around us:(

01-18-2007, 04:01 PM
Finished my driving experience in good time. We each drove six different cars, from the dealership to a lot by the mall near it, about 5 miles away. I tis rather fun and I get to drive different types of cars, that ordinarily I would not have the chance to. I drove an Explorer today, and I really didn't like it. It seemed a bit top-heavy, but I suppose that is because we have a little Kia Optima now.

We woke up to think fog, but it burned off by about 9:30. I don't like to drive in fog. and Glenda i sure don't like to drive on ice and snow. I had my fill of that for years, and that is reason number 2 why we are now in Florida.

According to the weather channel this a.m., it looked like Gloria will be getting some bad weather too.
Keep warm you gals, and Peggy too is getting some of it.

'See' you later. Ann

01-18-2007, 05:19 PM
G'day all,

It's RAINING:carrot::cp::hat::dancer::rain::rain::rain:
It doesn't mean the end of the drought but it will bring relieve for all the bush firefighters and my garden is loving having a drink at last!

I have been watching some of the weather being experienced in the US. I hope we will not experience having to drive in the snow.

Do you have to drive with chains around your tyres in the snow?

In the alpine region of Australia, it is illegal to drive in the snow without chains. As most of us would never experience driving in the snow, you can hire them before going into the mountains.

Good luck with the choice of your car Ann.

01-19-2007, 09:52 AM
Maria: Hope you are enjoying the rain. We could use some now, as we are going on water restrictions for our whole county. I'm not looking for a new caar for us. We did that for our Christmas present to ourselves. We got a Kia Optima and like it very much. I still enjoy driving all different kinds of cars. I did drive the new Nissan Versa and that is a nice little car. Peppy and has very good gas mileage. But we are committed to our Kia. One of the very good features of the Kia is the 100,000 mile warrantee. Few other cars have that. I think the Hundai is the only other one.

Glad that the map site might be useful to you.

good morning everyone. Hope none of you are snowed in.

01-19-2007, 12:59 PM
We have had just the worst ice storm I ever remember. It has been a week today and when we drove out of the driveway this morning, there were still no tracks made by our car. Still just ice. Yesterday the temperatures got above freezing so it isn't nearly as bad as it was, but there is another snow storm brewing, supposed to start snowing tonight. AND we are having a couples' weekend this weekend. Might turn into longer than a weekend. They are still coming, my sister, brother and spouses, but we might all be housebound for a while. It is a good thing we get along so well.

Maria, no we are not required to drive with chains on our tires. My boss used to live in Idaho and there were places there that young people took people from city to city for a price because they had the chains on their tires. Yuck! I sure hope our weather is just a fluke. I never signed on for this type of weather. And yea, for your rain. We are in the midst of a drought and I almost welcome the ice and snow--you heard "almost".

Ann, I have heard of the wonderful warrantee on the Kia. They have to be pretty good cars to have that kind of guarantee. I am still fighting my Florida-envy, you know.

I made a beef stew for my company and had to go to Wal-Mart last night for some stuff. I am so tired of being there when the town is in storm mode. I couldn't find stew meat or certain soups. There was a frenzy going on. Just crazy! Do people really think they will be snowed in for the rest of their lives? Anyway, we have a new Wal-Mart that opened today. So, we will have two and they will both probably be full of mean and rude people before a forecast storm. Ah well, that is my gripe for the day.

Hope you all are warm and dry. My teacher son has been off all week with his two little boys. He told me yesterday he is "mind numbingly bored." Sort of remember those days with him and his brothers. Had to laugh.

01-20-2007, 01:41 PM
Aloha Everybody: I am going out for a walk with my riends this morning but I was up early and thought I would stop by and hello to you all. Glenda we have seen tons of pictures of what your weather is up to....YIKES. I hear it is starting to warm up a little bit at home, they sure had cold weather. I got away just in time. My Princess calls me at least once a day and she is so excited to be coming to Maui now that she knows what it is like. They arrive on Feb. 18th. Actually, I am very excited too but I am not sitting around just "waiting" for them to arrive. I was afraid that was what I might do. We had a pizza party down by the BBQ where the tables are near the ocean. We each put in $10.00 and brought our own wine or whatever we wanted to drink and one fellow bought a HUGE chocolate cake for us all to share. I needed that like I needed a hole in the head. :p :D Tomorrow I am going to a pupu party, Monday a miniature golf tournament, and Tuesday a pot luck din dins at the BBQ again. Eerybody brings their own chicken or steak and then a dish to share. I am managing to keep busy. Later this morning I am going to wander over to the hotel that Trudy stayed in, there is some special jewelry sale going on in one of the rooms there. Aloha for now.:beach:

01-20-2007, 03:45 PM
Hi I am new here and wondered if I might join your group...I am a WW member and trying to lose after a long time of struggling with weight...

01-22-2007, 11:44 AM
Kerri, sure. Please join us. Can you tell us a little about yourself? Have you really lost 50 pounds? That is so wonderful. We have all struggled here with weight so you are at the right place. But Kerri (I sure like that name) that isn't all we talk about. We probably just talk about anything and everything. Welcome

01-22-2007, 05:19 PM
G'day all,

Welcome Kerrie, wow you have lost 50 lbs :carrot::carrot: that is fantastic.

As Glenda said, we talk about many things besides our weight struggle:D making our little group fun and informative!

It will be nice to have someone new join our group.

01-22-2007, 08:40 PM
Thanks for the welcome Maria and Glenda..

I am a little older then your group..I hope thats OK..:o

I have 5 grown children and 9 grandchildren..I am single and have 2 dogs and 2 cats with me...

01-22-2007, 10:39 PM
Welcome Kerri: It will be nice to have a newcomer. and we sure have all had our struggles and continue to have them. The weight just seems like a big boomerang sometimes. It is great that you have lost 50lbs. Keep up the good work, and maybe you might just inspire us.

I need inspiration, that is for sure. I just can't seem to get motivated to do what I know I need to do. I'm a Florida gal too. So are Karen and Bernice. Karen and I are close enough together that we meet for lunch now and again. Maybe you will be in our vicinity too.

We had a great experience on Sat. night. We belong to a concert series, and on Sat. was one of them. It was a group giving tribute to Benny Goodman. They were outstanding, and it was exciting to hear that music - so good that you could almost swear that Benny had come back again. The young man who played the clarinet was just outstanding. I think he breathed through his ears. :D:

This a.m. I finished my driving as we brought the cars back to the dealership. It is a fun thing to do, and to earn a little pocket money. I drove one car with no key. A new experience. I also got a stick shift and I haven't driven one of those in a long time. It took me a bit to get used to it.

Glenda: You certainly are haaving your share of bad weather.

Slavika: Your chocolate cake sounds yummy. Of course it didn't have any calories, so it was a part of the program. Did you find some 'cool' jewelry?

Maria: Have you tried Curves yet? I couldn't go this a.m. so will go tomorrow. I know it has helped me firm up a bit, and gives me some muscle strength. I know I feel it when I haven't been there for a while.

chorus practice is coming along quite well. I think everyone will have fun with the show.

I understand that WW has introduced a different point system. Has anyone tried it, and how does it work for you?

That's all for now. Ann

01-23-2007, 08:58 PM
Just stopping in to say good evening...

Ann ,I am not real far from you..I am in Valrico that's about an hour from Winter Haven...

I hope you all had a great day..
I will check in later...;)

01-24-2007, 12:49 PM
Karen, have you tried the new points system? Just thought you might have an insight into what is different about this program.

I gained 1/2 pound this week. Not at all bad because we did have a couples' weekend. We eat and we eat out and then we play cards and eat some more. So, I was happy with just a 1/2 pound gain. I haven't been to my fitness place since the first of December. I am going to try it this evening. I feel sure I won't be able to treadmill as much. I certainly am weak after those two bouts of sickness during Christmas.

Yea! Most of the ice is melting. I can see my driveway! Went to a friend's party last night and her driveway was covered with ice. Yuck! Her party was a slumber party, selling adult-themed toys, etc. Interesting. Lots of us older women and we got a kick out of some of those products. Pretty naughty! Did not know these things existed, but we did laugh a lot.

Trudy, I so hope you are feeling better. Have any of you ever had low potassium? I think that is what is causing the grandmother of all headaches I have now. I have eaten two bananas and it is better.

Stay warm and dry.

01-24-2007, 05:06 PM
G'day everyone,

Ann it has been too hot for me to try out Curves but I will definetly do so when it gets a bit cooler.
Another new points system???:dizzy::?: I haven't heard anything new being introduced in Australia.

Glenda I met a young lad from Oklahoma last night, he has an australian girlfriend and is here on a visit.
I asked him how different Adelaide was to Oklahoma and he said there was a huge difference so I guess I will be able to judge that for myself very soon!
Interestingly enough his father worked for Lucent Technologies in the US, he was amazed to find that dh still does contract work for them! It is a very small world.:)

We have booked 'the Colorada river voyage' http://www.papillon.com/popris/show_package.aspx?package_id=66&lang=en-US
It is a considerable saving to book on line. We have already booked our hotel in Las Vegas and when we received confirmation of this trip we were also advised that we get picked up from our hotel at 5.15am  It will be one very long day.
A cousin of mine in the Netherlands heard about our trip and they are going to be in New York the same time we are there.
I have not seen her for 12 years so it will be nice to see her and her dh again.

Hope everyone is happy and well,

01-24-2007, 10:36 PM
Hi all,
tve been in the land of the missing as DH uses the computer all the time and I don't get much of a crack at it. Bought a new Amana 25 cu refrig and doncha know they deliver it,plug it in and it never gets cold so tomorrow another one is being delivered meanwhile the old one is being used plugged in in the garage. We thought we bought a 2005 PT cruiser from a woman who took a check as a deposit and the deal.fell thru. We think she got a higher offer from someone else.she called this AM and reneged on the deal.
Weather here has been cloudy with some rain and tonite it's a*****illy Been doing hearing and vision screening.Bought a bike and try to ride abit each day.
Saw a presentaton on Gunther Gebel Williams and his daughter spoke about him. Venice was his home and he is actually buried very near us. I was fae scinated with him and his act at the Ringling Bros Circus. We actually were at th Circus last week. It came back to /sarasota after 48 years. Wasn't as good as the 3 ring ones in Madison Square Garden in NY.
Got to go-so tired.

01-26-2007, 01:05 PM
Hi everyone: Not much new around here.

Kerri: Just where is Valrico? I have looked on our Fl, map and am not having any luck. So are you north south east or west of Winter Haven?

We had some cool tempertures for the past couple of days. 38 deg. F this morning. I waited to walk until about 10 a.m. after it had warmed up a bit.

Bernice: I hope you got your deposit back for the car. That would be disappointing I'm sure. I was always taught that a deal is a deal. sort of like you go home from the party with the boy that brought you, even if you found someone you liked better. Times have changed, for sure.

We have had some much neede rain. Yesterday was cold and drizzely and a good day to stay inside. I did all day. didn't stir outside t all.

Trudy: are you still coughing too? It does hang on a long time.

What is going on with the rest of you? Ann

Good Morning everyone...:D
Well we have some cool weather and I am loving it..It will not last and we will be right back to hot weather again..I sure hope I will find the time to get out there and mow the yard as that helps me to get up a lot of the leaves that are down..

My Vacation is in 2 weeks and I am starting to get excited, I even took down the suit cases...Like I never go any where:dance: ..I try to do at least 4 trips a year and this is the 1st for 2007...

Hi all . Welcome Kerri to our group. Nice to have another Florida girl here.

The new points system is not so much different than what we have been doing all along. The only difference that I can see after reading the book is you calculate your daily points by taking a test that is in the week one book. The New book does explain the CORE system a bit better. I was very disappointed in the 2007 Food Companions. Very small and the print is small and if your eyes aren't good it would be hard to read. They must have had some 20 year old evaluate them . Because me at almost 61 think they did a very poor job with them. I do like the new look of the 12 tracker. But the new price is frightening. Too bad I don't work for them anymore I would let them know they really goofed up on that.

The weather has been kind of yukky here. I don't like it when it is cold and damp.

Our park last night had a show from Branson MO. It was a tribute to Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves. It was a wonderful show. My Mom really enjoyed it and so did DH and Me. Then after we went to the neighbors for a glass of wine and snacks. I had the wine but not the snacks. Not being a drinker at all I was surprised that i enjoyed that glass of wine. Thought it might help me sleep. WRONG. I was up until 2AM. Then when I finally went to sleep I slept in until 7am. Then I flew out of bed because i needed to wake up enough to go down to the club house and turn on the Exercise tape for the ladies. Then i did some visiting . One of my friends put down new carpet in her living room and i had not seen it yet. She also put down ceramic tile in the eat in kitchen , down the hall way and in one of the bathrooms. It is beautiful.

Tonight we are going to some others friends for a chili feed and games. So i made some cookies to take over there. And then I cut out 4 tote bags. They are quilted with a flamingo pattern on it. I just love the material. it's Black with the birds in pink. The reverse side is a pink . These will be having the pocket on the out side and the straps instead of stitched at the top will be stitched down flat on the bag itself. Should be cute. Now they are cut out so the sewing won't take long . Maybe tomorrow.

At crafts I am working on coaster and a holder . I am using that new technique called side loading your paint. So far I like the way they are turning out..

I am also thinking about volunteering to work at the hospital gift shop here in Plant City. Won't be doing that for sure until after My Mom goes home. Tomorrow we will be going out to dinner also. My diet is shot out of the water. My plan is to make sure and drink all the water I should and eat lite when at home. Going to make the "0" point vegetable soup.

Well I have to get ready to go. See you all later

Hi Karen glad to meet you..I did see you mentioned in a few posts...My daughter works at Plant City Hospital and loves it there, she's been there over 15 years....
Well I sure hope you all had a great Saturday...;)

I am so tired as my DS2 and DD IL were here so late last night and I am always up by 530 for my walk...I then went to my Chiropractic apt..and home to mow the yard..well the front 1/2 is done and the back will wait....:stars:

Oh I forgot I went to W.W. weigh-in and guess what even with a bad week I am down .4 so I was happy. :cheer:

We should have more of that much needed rain tonight...:rain: I hope it ends before time to walk in the morning...

Hitting the sack early and will see ya all tomorrow...

Hi everyone. A quiet Sunday here. Last night at the clubhouse we had a 'soup night'. There were 6 kinds of soup to choose from and after everyone had their first choice, then you could go back again. There was crusty warm bread and crackers, and then make your own ice cream sundays. Then a bit of entertainment and we were home by 8p.m

Today we were out early as it was my turn to teach our Sunday School Class. Since our regular teacher was away for two months, and then his substitute fell and broke his hip, there are some of us have been filling in. Then when the regular teacher came home, he fell at the airport and injured his shoulder and broke his little finger. So we have all continued. I have rather enjoyed it, but I wouldn't want to do it full time.

There is quite a wind out here now, and the house is getting colder. I think I'll have to go and get a sweater. We have had some much needed rain, but not enough to lift the water restrictions. I have heard some forcasts about possible freeze later in the week. Hope not.

Do any of you have any football jokes about the Bears or the Colts. I would like to get some to read at our coffee hour. The football lovers are having a Super Bowl party at the Clubhouse Sund. We now have a big overhead projector and so it will be a big production.

Brother-in-law and sil will be here on Sunday, and our plans will be going out to dinner, and maybe a game at home.

That is about all for me. I haven't gotten my motivation going enough to bet back to the WW meetings. My intentions are good. What is that old adage - the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" That is me.

That's all for now. Ann

A man had box seat tickets to go see Da Bears in the Super Bowl. As he sits down, a man
down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No," he says. "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their right mind would
seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the
and not use it?"

The first man says, 'Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was
to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super
haven't been to together since we got married."

"Oh .. I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find
someone else, like a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take

The man shakes his head. "No. They're all at the funeral."

I don't think I told you that I joined a Lighten Up Oklahoma team here at work. We weigh every Wednesday in an office on a big doctor's scale. Then we eat together on Fridays and share experiences. Sort of like WW, I think. Anyway, enjoying it.

Karen, you are so busy! You and Ann are really those retirees that need to go to work to rest. But all so much fun! And, I really have very little sympathy for you with your "cold" weather. There are still ice piles everywhere here that I think might melt about June. And it is just barely above freezing right now. We had a boring weekend. Didn't go anywhere, but church and the show. The show was just pitiful--Children of Men. Save your money. It was so depressing!

Next week is our granddaughter's BD. She will be 4 and she is so excited! While we are in that direction, I will have dinner with my high school girlfriends. It is time we got together and laughed. Actually, way past time.

Trying my absolute best to stay on the straight and narrow. Going to work out this evening. We got that big old TV and nothing is on it so I am looking forward to working out. This is just a bummer of a January!

Good one Kerri, I think I can use that for coffee hour. They are having a supre bowl party at the clubhouse. It is all wired up for big screen t.v and so those fans should have fun. Not me. I've never been a football fan ever.

Any more jokes send them on. Ann
