It's finally Friday. This week went slow. Only because work was slow and all that does is make the week drag.

Did my walk last night. Since I'm doing a FAT BURN walk, my incline goes up and down, well during the flat times I would up my speed even more. Get those calories burning!! Has anyone ever used a strap that you put around your abdomen while you walk? I can't think of the name of it......well I bought one so I could sweat more (and boy do you sweat, not sure if it really does anything but what can it hurt?)..... I am determined to make a difference this year.:dizzy: No more "I'm going to TRY and do more exercise, or I'm going to TRY and eat healthier" I need to stop TRYING and start DOING! :LOL: So far so good.

Not sure what my full outlook goal is, I just want to keep this up and make a difference by this time next year.

Ok ladies, hope you all have a great Friday. I'm going to eat some breakfast and leave early for my weekly coffee splurge! (Starbuck here I come!):D

Hi ladies,

Sue - I know just what you mean - I buy the right kinds of groceries and usually cook like I should, too, but a person can still gain if you overeat the "good" foods. Plus, over the holidays, I wouldn't even want to list what all we had around here! I'm going to have to learn to not let food soothe my emotions. Right now that's probably my biggest hurdle.

Sassy - it's really nice of you to help out a co-worker. Do you and your DH work in the same department? Anyway, as you said, the $$$ will come in handy. How's the diet and exercise going?

Marti - so glad to read about your weight loss and exercise accomplishments. It's great that most of the JLs are in the same frame of mind regarding weight loss. Even if it's because of the new year, so be it, right? Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Hello Mary Kate, Cristi, Julie, Judith, Michelle, and Tiffie. :wave: Hope you have some free time to post soon.

Sadie made it through the surgery alright, and may get to come home tomorrow.

Do any of you decorate for Valentine's Day? I've got a few things I set out, and the DGDs want me to put them out now, lol. I'm trying to convince them it would be better to wait a couple more weeks. I think they like Valentine's Day almost as much as Christmas.

I've been using the resistance bands, and my eating is OP. I'm planning to bring out all the clothes I have stored which are too tight for me, and hang them back in the closet for incentive. Thankfully, I have a huge closet.

Well I finally did get to sleep but man I am tired!

Marti -- WTG on the exercise!

Jane -- DH and I have the same supervisor, but we work in different depts, but the two depts work closly together, if that makes any sense?? I think I said about my exercise and diet yesterday, yesterday it pretty much went out the window since I worked 14 1/2 hours. But today is a new day.

Well that is it for me. Have to leave for work in a bit, have just a 12 hr day today! lol.

Hi ya Chickies...

Sorry for yet another fly-by. I was able to post on one thread and then I don't know what happened this thing is going so slow and getting stuck. I promise I will be back tomorrow to do individuals.

I did have a busy day and let me tell ya, my dogs are barking and the day is not over yet. We had the carpet cleaned today and I moved the furniture that needed to be moved, and plants and such to save the guy some time. Not to be mean but I don't want them here any longer than they need to be, lol. He thanked me, kind of threw me off when he said that. Also, went to exercise this morning...got in a good work out. And...packed up most of Josh's room since he won't be needing anything or be home soon. And...got some laundry done. Have one more load which is actually is just Ernie's doggie blanket that he sleeps on. I am definitely ready for a nap. Doesn't help that the weather is dreadful. It's been a rainy, drizzly (don't think that's a word but oh well) day. They mentioned snow but I think it is supposed to be mostly in the west. Poor people...a lot of them got hit hard last weekend and are still without electricity. They were having to drop hay from helicopters for the cattle and horses because they couldn't get thru to feed them. Jut couldn't imagine what those people are going thru-parts of western Kansas and eastern Colorado. Okay, starting to babble :blah: :blah: :blah:

Hey all, just a little update about the coworker that had emergency surgery? She called tonight and said she is being released from the hospital to go home and that she will be back in Monday morning and she works 3 AM - 11 PM shift! I don't see how she is going to manage that! But we told our boss and she said she was going to have the extra coverage anyways, just in case.

Anyways figured I would fill you in. OH and our boss said we can go home early tonight w/ out losing any time or pay, since we had to stay late early this morning and came in early today! So I think we're going to be leaving @ midnight, which is good, because I desperately need to do laundry!!!!! I have not had the time!!!!! I need to hire me a laundry lady or man, I don't care which as long as they can do laundry well! lol.

Well Ta Ta For Now!

Howdy ladies....Sounds like everyone is busy and being sooo good. We couldn't walk today due to the wind and wind advisory....but tomorrow is another day. I have to tell you that I measured this morning and I was really excited...I am closer to Dr. Oz's waist measurement that I dreamed. DH was even smaller around the waist than he thought. It is more motivating...for both of us. So he says tomorrow is our day to start walking .(please wind do not kick up) I can't remember what other exercises we are supposed to do...but if we can just walk daily I will be happy for now.
I am looking for the site that I used before for checking off the foods we eat. It was pages of the food pyramid actually....had the number of servings of each thing and we marked off as we ate ...when everything was checked you were done eating for the day. It was helpful in getting used to what we could have and portion control. Darn I can't find those pages to print off.

HAve a nice week-end ladies and continue being good...:)

Hey Sue -- Wow your doing great! :D I can do better, I will admit it. :yes: But I do have a gift card for the book store and I plan on using it and probably getting Dr. Oz's book. I'm so happy that your DH and you are doing this together. My DH & I need to get a "plan". ;)

Hey everybody else out there in lurkdomville or sleepytownville! lol. Guess what? I am getting paid right now as I am typing this and I'm at home! :woohoo: We got to leave early tonight @ midnight so we came home, took our showers and watched some tv, now we are playing our computers before we go to bed.

Sassy-it's amazing how some people can jump right back to work after even a minor surgery and others take much longer with the same thing. There are several drop off laundry mats that charge you by the pound near where I live, is there one near you? You could use them to get caught up and do your unmentionables :o yourself. I used to go to the laundry mat every once in awhile even though we had a washer and dryer when the kids still lived at home and the pile got overwhelming to just get it all done in a shorter period of time. Glad you seem to be getting some of that energy back.

Sue--I bought the Dr Oz book and it came with a free exercise dvd--haven't watched it yet since I am not done the book. I am going to try a combination of WW and Dr OZ and Gold's Gym. The only thing that is going to keep me from losing is me sabotaging myself!!

Kathy--Happy New Year to you!! Come back when you can tell us more!!

Cristi - wowee, woman, you've been busy. And you're doing great with the exercise again. It's amazing how much better we feel when we're doing the right thing. Makes me wonder why I ever slack off, lol.

Julie - so what's going on in your life? Btw, I'm my own worst enemy, too, when it comes to dieting.

Sue - Dr. Oz now says your waist should be 1/2 your height. And I'm glad he clarified that, because, at 5' 9" tall, no way should I have the same waist size as someone, for example, like Marti, who is barely 5 feet tall. I hope the link Julie gave you is what you were looking for.

Well, I'm not sure what I'm going to do today. The day is 1/2 over, and all I've got done is one load of laundry (no Johnny Depp wannabe, boohoo), the baths cleaned, and I got some phone calls made. Katie is going to sweep and mop the kitchen and dining room for me, since she needs extra money. YAY for that, lol.

I'm OP and feeling great! I just wish I could walk the treadmill again.

Jane-now you know we would have to fight your Katie and my Teri for Johnny!! I am doing laundry too--no Johnny Depp lookalike here either, hubby has been told that he looks like Sylvester Stallone & Gene Simmons, I don't see either.....I always got the Joan Jett in the 80's look or Janet from 3's Company.
Not much going on right now, just trying to get organized and get a system to help me stay that way. I tend to have a piling system that grows faster than I take care of it and that's one thing I want to concentrate on. I think if I can simplify other aspects of my life the weight loss and exercise will follow.

Hello Ladies, and Happy Saturday to you!

JANE...I do a little bit of decorating for V-Day. I put out a mini-flag for V-day, St. Patrick's, Easter, 4th of July, then go to a fall one and Christmas. But for V-day I have some of those window stickies that I put on the sliding door and I bought a WELCOME heart plaque for the door a few days ago when I was at Michaels for ribbon. Also, have and put a plaque on the door for Easter, 4th of July and Christmas. About the only holiday we really go all out with on the decorating is Christmas. Anyway...when your Katie is done with your house can you send her on to mine? I keep threatening V that I am going to hire someone because I hate cleaning but I haven't done it yet. Gives me something to do, lol.

Nothing much going on with me today. Kind of an easy day for me. Going to do some straightening of the house and vacuum and that's about it. Oh, after I work on the basement. Not much to do down there. Just wanted to get some things out of the closets and into storage, and vacuum and dust. Shouldn't take an hour to do. V is working the whole day so I can get something done, lol. Never do get much done when he is home. Cooking some pinto beans for chili later and may do a load of laundry. Oh, I did make it to IF this morning. I was kind of dragging but I did make it in there and got my work out. Been doing good with it and the water and vitamins. Next week I am going to step it up though and add some more walking. Anyway...take care ladies and I hope everyone is having a good day! :hug:

Not sure what my plans are for the day yet. Want to get out of the house and get a coffee. Ran out here at home and that is just a no-no:nono:

Lets see if I can catch up a little bit:

Jane--Decorate for V'day? Not here. Christmas is really the only holiday I decorate for. As for the enthusiasm here....I think that starting before the holidays really helped me out. If I would have started afterwards, I think it would have been a lot harder for me to get motivated. I just actually started the journalling on the 1st to give me a start date.

Sassy--I remember working the same kind of hours you do. I miss working those hours and getting the 4days off. Got so much time to do things back then!

Kathy--Hello!! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful Birthday! Hope we see more of you! Miss your chatting.

Sue--Is the weather crazy there this year? We're having some crazy weather here in Oregon. Not a whole lot of rain falling, but really cold freezing air and such. Not your typical Oregon weather. I hope you & hubby get your walk in today!

Vann--Hello and Welcome!! :wave: So happy to have you a part of our group. Looking forward to getting to know you more. I have a 12yr old DD, so our kids are about the same age range! Keep coming back and let us know how you're doing!

Jules--I think I'm doing a combination diet too.:D Something that I can stick to and something that I feel is more my "own" rather than some diet I'm sticking to. Really stupid thinking on my part since it's probably why I can't lose! So far so good for me though.

Cristi--Jhanai isn''t w/me this weekend. Although I tried. :) She has such a social life w/her friends and it seems like they all have birthday parties every weekend! So I'll be seeing her next weekend.

Hello to everyone else out there.

Well, my WI day is on Monday, but yesterday I felt like checking things out and I managed to be down 1lbs! I was thrilled!! But I don't plan to record it until Monday when I WI then. If it's still down....then I'll record the loss. That would make my birthday goal half way done!:D

Guess if I keep this up I'll see the changes!

Ok...off I go to take a shower. Having a late day today. I should probably do something now. :dizzy:

Just a quick check-in from me tonight. I am tired. DH and I did get a nice 45 minute walk in today...some of it uphill. My legs felt it when we got home. We also went to the casino and had some fun.....

Now I must do laundry and sweeping on Sun. since I played today. :)

Jules...thank you for the site. I can get all the info I wanted there and type up my sheets.

Outback was fabulous and again Jane, Thanks for the tip ...I did preselect and did OK except I switched salads which cost me as extra 200 calories, but I still made my minimum 1500 for the day..Not too bad for day 2..I will strive for better today..(not perfection).

Am off to do some meditation (or attempt to) with G driving me crazy. Have a great day all and I will check back in tonight...

Vann--my inlaws lived in Murphy NC--my kids used to spend summers there with a trip to Dollywood thrown in everytime--my dd would like to eventually settle in the Carolinas--both kids have good memories.

Sue--you are welcome--I actually found the site interesting myself

Kathy--my computer is so much better since the viruses were destroyed and I switched to high speed DSL

Sassy--glad you are feeling better!!

Marti--I just need to find something that I can stick to. I am going to do the flex points at ww--the core leaves you eat as much as you want within the food choices provided and I need something a little stricter

Cristina--moving would make me get rid of so much more--but I do a little here and there--I have so many books I hate to give them away!! I have been trying to just check out books at the library and not buy any more-just
finished reading Janet Evanovich's "Plum Lovin" -very cute, started on John Katzenbach's "The Wrong Man" It's good so far.

DS & GF are doing fine.

The really nice guy turned stalker showed up at DD's job and then followed her to a convenience store on Friday--says he loves her and can't get her out of his mind. The new guy (ex-marine, just starting the police academy) has took her and was going to pick her up last night and wants the guys phone number, but DD doesn't want him to do anything that will get him in trouble and kicked out of academy. The ex has not made any threats to her at all-is just very obsessed so I don't think we can get a trestraining order. DD thought changing her phone number a month ago would make it stop but the showing up at her work and following her afterwards creeped her out--she said she was a little nervous but it was a well lit busy public place and her co-worker and her coworker's boyfriend was there. She doesn't think he will do anything violent, he had at least one other girl he was seeing at the same time so she doesn't understand why he doesn't just get over her. The whole showing up at work after a month concerns me. She lives with a friend and the friends boyfriend who is currently a security guard but was a bouncer at a bar. He's a big guy and very protective over both girls, but I still worry. She texted me that she was home safe.

Jules - yikes, I'd be worried, too, if someone showed up at my DD's work like that. Especially since he followed her! Once is probably harmless, but if he shows up again, though, I'd do something about it. A visit from the dbf, or the friend's dbf would probably do the trick. A phone call to the police to get it on record wouldn't hurt, either. I doubt the police can actually do anything yet, unless he threatens or harms her, though. Btw, I can totally see you as Joan Jett and/or 3's Co.'s Janet. Back in the day, in my 20's, I got told often that I looked like Linda Carter, but with brown eyes. It's been decades since I heard that, lol.

Cristi - well, Katie could sure use the $$ of cleaning your house, lol. I've been trying to do my cleaning with more "Oomph", bending and stretching, for a little extra workout. Depending what I'm doing, I can really feel it! You're doing great with the exercise, water, and vitamins.

Marti - are you journaling your food, or feelings, or both? I write down everything I eat, before I eat it, and think it would be a good idea if I journaled my feelings, too. About structuring your own workable plan, I read that it's much more effective for total weight loss to do that. People who tweaked a diet to be doable, yet effective in pounds lost, stayed with it for a much longer time. So your insticts are right on target. YAY for the 1# down!! :carrot:

Vann - I'm so proud of you for looking up the menu and then basically staying with your choice. Don't you think doing things like that give us a feeling of control? I like feeling as though I'm taking charge of my own life, and not leaving it up to chance. When I'm eating mindlessly, the out-of-control feeling I have is always niggling at the back of my mind even when I try to ignore it.

Sassy - glad you feel better.

Kathy - YAY for high speed internet. Makes so much difference! What are your diet and exercise goals for 2007?

Sue - don't work too hard today, remember it's a day of rest. :)

I got weighed today, and have lost 2 pounds. Although 1 1/2 - 2 pounds a week is just fine for most weeks, I thought the first week, with water loss, might have been more. But, hey, I'll take it and be proud of it! :yes:

Neal and I skipped church today - my foot is so sore! I'm going to make a foot doctor's appt. tomorrow and see if he can get me in for a shot of cortisone. I've never had one, and heard that they hurt. But I've reached the end of my rope with the plantar's fasciitis!

Good Pre - afternoon!! (it's 11:30 here)

I got up late due to a late movie night. Was around 3:00 when I finally laid my head down. I dragged my coffee pot out today to make a whole pot of coffee instead of having a coffee single. Now I'm ready for the rest of the day!:D

Vann--Fantastic job on preselecting a meal before going out! It really helps when you do go out. Yesterday I suggested to my DH that going out for lunch sounded great, but I didn't have any idea what I wanted that would be "ok", so came home and had a tastey salad!

Sassy--Get lots of rest! That's the best thing to get over a cold. (if you still have one lingering) You know, I was thinking back to when I worked 12hr shifts. And how my hubby & I would hit the gym afterwards........where did that kind of energy go?? If I could get back some of the energy I used to have, I'd be set!

Sue--That would be a great goal for walking. Pick a casino at a distance......walk there...win lots of money.....and skip back home! :lol: 45 min walk is great. I finally upped my time on my treadmill. Only by 5mins. though. I would eventually like to walk an hour each night, but for now....little steps to get there.

Kathy--High speed is fantastic! When I get on a computer that has dial up, I realize what an impatient person I really am! :D

Jules--How scarey for your DD! Make sure that she doesn't walk around alone no matter what! I can only imagine how paranoid she must feel. You know, I too can see you as both Joan Jett and Janet! I don't think I've ever been compared to any celebrity!

Jane--I am strictly journaling food. And in a different little notebook that I keep on my treadmill, my walks. If I start writing my feelings down, I would have to get a different journal all together. Funny you should ask since I thought about doing that! Oh....and about the scrapbook page...as soon as my scanner gets hooked up I'll be set! It's getting closer I promise!!

Does anybody here have NetFlix? We subscribed a few months back....probably the beginning of Fall. And we've just been having movie nights every weekend! Last night we watched "Requiem for a dream" and "Four Rooms" both interesting movies. I liked them. Last weekend was "Return of Superman" and "Fantastic Four" Both good movies. Lots of movies we've seen so far!

KATHY...I am a fan of The Biggest Loser but the siggy is about a challenge I joined on TBL/Exercise thread here. Woohoo on getting hi-speed internet. I am so tired of this slow computer but will wait for the hi-speed when we move since we will be changing things anyway. Glad to see ya back by the way!

MARTI...WTG on the pound! :woohoo: You are doing a great job with your walking. We had net-flix but it was short lived. Guess I am afraid of the mail. :dunno: But we are thinking about doing it again once we move. Seems a lot of things will change when we move.

JULES...lot's of hugs to Teri. :hug: :hug: That is the last thing she needs, some dummy stalking her. I too would be worried. But then I worry about everything with my kids. I love Janet Evanovich. I have #12 or is it 13? Hmmm, it's been so long I don't even know. But I have yet to read it and I love reading her stuff. I don't know what Plum Lovin is, haven't heard about it. I've not be in a reading mood in quite awhile for some reason. I too have a hard time getting rid of my books, I actually don't. Glad DS & his GF are fine.

JANE...you know...you can actually get a good work out cleaning and especially how you are doing it. So good for you! How is the band working for ya? Hopefully you'll be able to get back to your walking soon.

Marti, do you like Netflix? I have seen it advertised on tv and have thought about looking into it, but I don't know if it applies to Canada or not. We just watched the Da Vinche Code, and Taladega Nights. Taladega was funny. We all had some laughs at that one.

Jules, we now have to run a virus scan, and see if there is any viruses on the computer. Also I think Jane said it all about the DD's stalker. I can see that even when the kids move out, you don't stop worrying any less than when they were at home.

Cristina, are you moving? Or are you already doing lots of spring cleaning? Its hard to try and catch up on all that I have missed.

Sue, glad that you had a nice walk. Is the casino close by where yhou live? We are getting a casino here in out town. It sure brought up a lot of controversy before the building started going up.

Jane, I am feeling for you, and I totally understand the pain of having to crawl on the floor and hands and knees to get to the bathroom first thing in morning when you get up. When you go to the doctor make him adjust your orthodics, because they are not right if you are still having problems. Also try and put them in your socks so that you have them on at all times. My doctor would not give me the cortisone shot as he said that it will cause different problems. Now, you asked me what my goals were for 2007, and I actually sat down 3 hours ago to write this out, but as I started, your question really made me think. The obvious answer is watch what I eat, drink water, and exercise. However that really has been my goal for the last 10? years. So really that is not my goal this year. I really do know what I have to do, so my goal for this year is to figure out what I need to do to get myself to drink the water and get myself to eat healthy, and to make myself exercise. Does that make any sense? Sorry for rambling.

Hey Everyone, just a quickie here before heading into work. This is my "Friday" though, so after tonight I get my usual 3 days off! ;) So much for the "Quickie" eh? lol

I went to bed early, I didn't want too, but I made myself so I could get some sleep for work tonight. I figure I have 3 days to stay up as late as I want! lol.

WTG Vann with sticking to your plan at Outback, I know its not an easy thing, esp. there!

Jules -- I can say I know how your DD feels, as I had something simular happen to me years ago when my ex and I broke up, only it wasn't because he was obsessed with me, it was because him and his new girlfriend were completely insane! They would follow me every time they saw me out, screaming out the windows that they were going to kick my butt! And I was all by myself when they would do this. I was terrified. I went to the cops several times and they would not do anything about it. Said they couldn't unless they could "catch him" doing it. :rolleyes: But now with the new stalker laws in a lot of states, that has changed, so she may be able to do something. But I wouldn't just brush it off because people like that can do the craziest things, not to worry you or nothing, but I just know from experience. The only thing that stopped them was my bio. father called him up himself and pretty much told him he better stay away from me or well I'll let you fill in the blanks there. My ex and his new girlfriend stopped after that. Anyways, just make sure she is careful and don't take for granted that she thinks he won't do anything bad, because you just don't know! Better to be safe than sorry I say. :) Just my humble opinions ;)

Jane -- I had that myself and it is extremely painful! I could barely walk it was so sore! My dr. gave me exercises to do, sounds weird, but before you get out of bed in the morning, take a pair of panty hose or if you have one of those rubberband thingys, but one end around the bottom of your foot, and the other end pull up towards you. My dr. said this stretches out the whatever it is called, that is causing you the pain so it won't be so bad. Well I still do it to this day and it works for me. Just an idea. I hope your pain eases up!

Hey Marti -- I am finally over my cold, Thankfully! I have been dilgently going to bed early so I get my rest. I don't know where you and DH got the energy after working that shift to workout, as we are totally wiped after! lol. But I plan on taking one day out of my days off and doing a "pamper myself" night. Bubble bath, relaxing music, good book, etc. Our friend used to do the Netflix thing. Fantastic four I thought was really good, Superman was good, but I didnt' think it was as good as everyone "raved" about. Have you seen Batman Begins? It is really good! ;)

Cristina -- Nope I'm off AFTER I work tonight for three days, maybe that is what your thinking of? I need to clean and do laundry badly, I just hadn't had the time with working all the overtime. DH asked me what I want for Xmas (we're doing ours this coming payday) I said "Someone to cook & clean & do laundry" lol. I talked to my co-worker and he said his wife does organizing people's houses, I said I need her to come to our place! So he's going to talk with her. I said if she lived closer, I would definately hire her and/or her daughter to clean for us. (that is what she does for a living), but they live way too far away for it to benefit them.

Hi Kathy -- Yeah I get to work with my DH. Some people think we are insane because of it, but its been over a year now and we're still doing just fine. We work the same shift 6 p.m. - 4 a.m. Thurs - Sunday, which people think we're also insane for working, but we like it! ;)

I am OK today for day 3...the exercise thing is going to be a bit more challenging..I simply don't like to do it..even as I type this I am wondering how for a life time change I am going to over come that...I don't mind physical activity...but I don't like structured exercise..I will paint a bedroom..plant a tree..really have a good work out..but if it consist of getting a treadmill...or walking around the block ..I just hate it...I am thinking for now that I will work on developing a pattern of healthy eating..maybe I am just avoiding...not sure...

I will try and post during the day tomorrow..I will be at work so I am not sure if I can get on, but I will try...

Marti--We just got NetFlix, Ryan and Alicia have it and loved it. Last week we got Cincinati Kid with Steve McQueen and Must Love Dogs (really liked it), this week we got Walk the Line & Memoirs of a Geisha. Enjoyed both of them. Teri will be careful.

Jane--the new guy wants to be called if the ex shows up again and DH & DS want to be notified too. I am hoping he does leave her alone now.

Well back to work tomorrow--I am going to hit the gym several times this week so I don't know how often I'll be back this week--I will try to stop back though.

Checking in to say we walked another 45 minutes today and part of it uphill. Tomorrow we will change the route a little, but still do 45 minutes. May get to an hour next week.
We were going to go out for dinner tonight, our 30th anniversary, but since DH is still under the weather somewhat we are putting off the celebration. He did buy me a really nice gold chain ...for my pendants. (and I was boring and bought him a wallet since I thought we were NOT buying gifts and I was going to surprise him.) Things kinda backfire....lol.
I took my Christmas gift money and bought a sumptuous pair of p.j.'s and a really pretty pair of hoop earrings. I just recently was able to start wearing earrings again without my ears breaking out.

Our DD babysat our youngest for 2 weeks and now he (arms folded across his chest, and foot stomping the floor) Does Not want to go back to the babysitter, he wants to stay home and he wants DD to stay home with him. I guess we will be having quite a fight when he gets up.

Good Morning ladies!!

I'm getting ready for work but I had to pop in since it's my WI day! I lost 3.4lbs this last week!:carrot:

I was in total shock and then got back on to make sure it wasn't lying to me.... :lol: . I'm finally doing something good for my body and the scale is letting me know! This is HUGE for me! I spent all summer feeling SO down about myself.

It may be a little loss, but it has renewed my motivation and I plan on sticking with it!! Plus....not only did I reach my birthday goal early, I reached it w/1.5lbs over! Amazing!

James and I have decided that he'll do the cooking. He has been the most wonderful support that I just can't thank him enough! I told him to keep on me about my walking.....and every night he just simply ask...."Have you done your walk yet?" And then I do. And with him cooking for WW cookbooks (so he can find things that he enjoys too) has made a difference. And the nights he's not home, I bought myself some leancuisines for dinner. Ok...they may not be the best idea for dinner, but they'll work.

I'm so darn excited I can burst!

Cristina--First off...you are going to have to forgive me for not paying much attention and being used to using Cristi:o when I address you! I'm so sorry about that. I will make sure that I put CrisTINA for now on!! Promise. I love Netflix. We get 4each time and we get a variety. I've seen so many movies lately, and it's so much cheaper than going to the theatre. (of coarse....we have those occasions when we do!) Keep us posted on the house hunting.

Kathy--Been wanting to see Taladega....heard it was hilarious. I liked the DaVinci code. The book was WAY better but the movie wasn't so bad. How old is your youngest? I hope he adjust w/o big sister home!

Sassy--I'm not sure where we got the energy either, but we made it work. I keep telling him that we need to figure something out w/our current schedules to find a gym we can go to.....he was a fantastic trainer! Plus I enjoyed watching him work out!:o

Vann--What part of Oregon does your co-worker come from? I lived in Illinois for half a year and I missed it terribly while I was gone. There is a huge difference in weather that's for sure. I wish I could pop in here from work....but too many of the young co-workers play on MYSPACE and have ruined it for the rest of us.

Jules--If you're in the gym....we don't mind at all that you don't pop in as often! You're doing good! Now...about the movie "Memoirs of a geisha" is that a movie my hubby would want to see? I want to add that to our list. I may just do it anyway! Have you seen "The machinist" that was a bizarre movie! Christian Bale actually lost all the weight for that movie....he looked anorexic!

Sue--Fantastic job on getting 45 mins in....with a hill! That is one thing that I'm bad at when it comes to walking outdoor rather than on the treadmill. I start to do a leisurely stroll and my heartrate doesn't go up at all. But if I keep this up w/my treadmill...this Spring may be a whole different story. Happy Anniversary and hope hubby feels better soon!

MARTI...don't worry about it. It didn't/doesn't bother me that much but I do prefer Cristina. AND...WTG missy on the loss this week! YGG! :carrot: :woohoo: :carrot: James sounds like V and DD...they've been doing that to me, reminding me or rather asking if I exercised. DD told me a couple of days ago "I'm proud of you!" Talk about motivation. Wish I had someone cooking for me, lol!

JANE...guess I missed that about your foot yesterday, oops! I have had the cortisone shots and they do kind of hurt. They actually just feel a little weird going down. And the first time I had one (for my arm) it worked so good! A couple of years later when I had another it did nothing for me at all. Actually felt like it made it worse. They don't like to give too many of the shots because it breaks down the cartilage I think it was, or my doctors don't anyway. I do hope they can do something for you though.

VANN...I don't like to exercise either-does anyone? lol But I found out that when DS was home for 2 weeks and I didn't go for the whole month I actually missed going and workign out. I'll never like it or drinking water either but I know it's something that I have to do so I do it. I do go thru my periods of laziness though.

SUE...HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY!:cheers: Hope DH is feeling better.

SASSY...sometimes I read the posts so quickly I get things mixed up and/or miss things. Like now, I am probably missing lots but I have got to hurry and get off the 'puter and get the house cleaned, ugh! Enjoy your days off.

I got on the computer before I start my house cleaning because I figured by the time I finished it would be too late and I wouldn't get any time on it. I have got to get the house clean for tomorrow. We are having a realtors tour...just for one hour but it still has to be clean. I did get to It Figures and got my work out done and a one mile walk so doing good with that and feeling great! Well, I have just finished work and I am beat..I now I remember so well how I have gotten in the habit of turning to food..STRESS :-) I started reading a new book last night to help reduce stress and re-focus on my "authentic" self...I will share the title later.

Marti...WOW...If I can loose one lb a week I will be thrilled..3.5 is AMAZING!! Congratulations and I will live vicariously though your momentum in my stress filled delirium:-) I will ask my co-worker tomorrow where she is from..

Hey Everybody!

Yesterday/today, my "day" anyways......I have felt a bit down. :( I have no clue why or anything. Just feel blah. So I haven't done much. I watched tv and a movie. The movie was on lifetime and it was called, "Fat Like Me" About a slim teen who puts on a fat suit to see "What its like to be Fat". Not bad but I'm kinda tired of the whole skinny person in a fat suit thing. This movie does go into more than just that, but I'm still kinda tired of it, yet I watched it anyways? lol.

Anyways. I have been drinking my water. I feel like I'm floating, but I know its a good thing. I also watched a food show on the Food Network about diets, just exploring some diets and what they entail, etc. Kinda interesting since I thought that most diets consist of cardboard and water. lol. So now I have some things in mind when we get to the grocery. ;)

There was even this restaurant that specialized in Diabetic meals and one of them was skinless boneless chicken covered in corn flakes for crunchiness and its supposed to be like "Fried Chicken" only of course not fried. But my question is, isn't Corn Flakes high in carbs?????? So what is a good alternative to corn flakes to add that crunchy outside without all the carbs?

Okay I did a google search for "Low Carb Corn Flakes" and found: Special K Low Carb Lifestyle Protein Plus Cereal, that has 14.0 G (for 3/4 Cup) of Carbs VS. 22.0 G (for 1 cup) of Carbs of the Regular Special K. But R there any other alternatives that are lower than that?????

Marti -- DH & I watched Taledega, we couldn't get past 20 min. of it we thought it was so stupid! But that is just our opinions! I agree, Da Vinci Code was a good movie, but the book was much, much, much better! ;)

Good evening...er..early morning here. Just wanted to tell Vann that I have no motivational tips for walking. It is just one of the few exercises I actually enjoy doing and I try real hard to keep it up. Back home in IN (hm, sound familiar?) I walked a lot before we moved because I had a walking buddy. At the new house I will get used to the route and do okay come Spring. Here in Las Vegas it is a little daunting due to the dust and wind. We are in a park that is easy to walk in and there is a nice hill out one street...so IF I can get to it I feel pretty good. As much as I like walking I still do make excuses some days...go figure.
I tell myself if I don't walk I will have to do crunches...that is a kind of motivation as I hate crunches. :)

Cristina - Oops! I'll try to use that name from now on. I had no idea you disliked "Cristi" so much, since you signed your posts using it for so long. Good luck with the realtor's tour today, and hopefully that will bring in a serious buyer. How exciting to be thinking of a new home! I was going through the same thing this time last year, and it's fun to plan decorating, etc. for a new place.

Marti - 3.4 pounds!!! YAY!!! And I think it's just wonderful that James is doing the cooking. You're very lucky to have your own cook! Neal can make chili and pancakes. That's just about it, lol. Plus, he leaves the kitchen a MESS when he does cook, lol.

Kathy - aww, going back to school is hard for some of the little ones. Madison didn't want to go back to preschool, but once she was there, it was all good.

Sue - I like your walking motivation, lol. It's so windy here today that I might as well be in Vegas!

Jules - I hope you make it in here often, but I'm glad you're making time for the gym. Are you going with your DD?

Sassy - I watched that movie, too, and was disappointed, since I thought there's a lot more they could have emphasized about being overweight, and how society reacts. Also, if one of my kids talked to me that way, I'd be crushed! I saw that actress on tv yesterday, and she said it was based on a true story. Btw, I have used crushed wheat Melba toast as a topping for a broccoli casserole, and you could probably use that to coat chicken.

Vann - thanks for asking.. my foot is a little better, but I have made an appt. with my foot doctor for a cortisone shot a week from tomorrow. About weighing, I get weighed a couple times throughout the week but count it and record it only once a week. I weighed Sunday this week, and lost 2 pounds, but will be moving my weigh day to Saturdays. That's because we go out to eat on Saturdays, and although I stay OP, the restaurants use MSG that makes me hold water. Since you're feeling tired, I have to ask if you're getting a multi-vitamin? It really makes a difference!

Here's a tip to help keep you from munching on the wrong things when you just want to eat something. Take 1/2 cup salsa, and 1 or 2 Tbl. Light Done Right Ranch dressing, mix, and use as a dip for your favorite "free" fresh veggies. Not exactly a "new" idea, but sometimes we forget the basics.

Well, I need to go tackle Mt. Washmore, lol. Bbl.....

Time is going fast. I have a photo shoot at work today at 11:30 so I need to get out of here a little early. They are creating an updated booklet for the lab and they wanted our department in it.

Cristina--I'm still checking out homes for us to buy. ONE of these years we'll actually get to. We're thinking the end of fall maybe?? Who knows. I would like to live closer to Jhanai's school.

Jane--I hope you're foot is feeling a little better. Did you get the cortisone shot?

Vann--Stress is a big problem for me when it comes to food too. And that just makes it harder to lose!

Sassy--Sorry you have the "blahs". Maybe you and hubby need to get out of down for a day and just go on an adventure. That way you're out and about and away from it all.......hmmm...that sounds like something I need to do!

Sue--I think you're doing great w/the walking. Do you live at a distance from all the casino's? I think I would be spending lots of money if I were close. I used to live in Tahoe and I had so much fun, but I was only 19! Not gambling age!

Marti -- Yeah maybe. We'll be doing that the end of Feb. when we get our time off and we'll probably go out and do something next week on our days off when we have more money. This week we don't have a whole lot so kinda sticking close to home. Plus I think we're just exhausted from working so much.

VANN...I try to weigh just once a week although I did weigh twice last week, lol. I get so frustrated sometimes so try to stick to once a week. Too tempting though with the scales there. I hid them though, lol.

SASSY...instant potatoes! I have a recipe I found that calls for instant potatoes and some seasonings and you roll the chicken in the mixture and bake it. It tastes like fried chicken, not as good but almost and it is quite good, don't know about the carbs but it is less fat than frying for sure. Hope you back gets to feeling better.

JANE...I'm hoping the realtors start showing the house. I guess these tours are good so they can see the house and if they have a client that could possibly be interested. Yeah, I never liked Cristi but when I signed on years ago I didn't want to use my name, not sure why, just didn't. I think from seeing it so much it got to me.
