On my workout DVD's (Leslie Sanson's Walk Away the Pounds) it says how far ive walked. For example on my DVD is a "Super Challenge-4 mile" How far am i actually walking when i do this? I dont feel like im walking 4 miles and i wouldnt be surprised if im actaully not walking that far. How accurate are the distances measured by the fitness DVD people?

I think her videos make an honest attempt to measure distance by using a formula to convert the number of steps in the video into a equivalent distance amount. You could wear a pedometer the next time you do one and set it to measure distance instead of steps and see how accurate it is for you. Please post back what you get if you do this, bc it would be interesting to know.

It matches up pretty close for me when I use a pedometer. However, I can never walk as fast or as far when I go out walking as I can when I use the DVDs.

When I use my pedometer, it comes up pretty close to what the video says. I think this last time it was off by .1 miles. To me that's close enough!

I don't think it translates well.
4 miles in 60 minutes is a 15 minute mile (ie Walking about 4.0mph on a treadmill for a solid hour).
I'm FAR more winded, and my legs feel more worked out on the treadmill at 4.0 than I do with a WATP tape becuase my steps are so short on a WATP tape.
That said, I still really like Leslie, and KUDOS to anyone who completes her Super Challenge DVD!! It's an accomplishment no matter how far the distance.
