:welcome3: to ~ One LB. Down and Plenty More To GO!

Old friends and New friends,

This thread is open to any and all ladies who have more than a "few" pounds to lose. We all know that if it's more than a "few" that it's gonna take sometime to get rid of it. And when you're in a certain place in your life for a while it's great to have some friends around that know exactly how you feel and know exactly what you're going through. Having support via family and friends is great and certainly a welcomed thought, but sometimes they just don't get it. We'll help encourage you through the down times, discourage you when the dieting alter ego wants to take over and then encourage you some more! Just jump in and make yourself at home. Let's try to live, love and laugh our "weigh" through this!

Well, it's the 2nd January here and I'm sure Tina won't mind me starting the 2007 thread.

I had a good day. Even after New Year's Eve at my mum's, having the most gorgeous roast chicken dinner with yorkshire pudding and sausages, and trifle for dessert, I was down a pound this morning from yesterday.

TOM arrived this morning also so hopefully that contributed partly to my shameful 11 lb gain over Christmas.

AND, not only that I did my exercise DVD for the first time since flipping Easter. Over the summer I did a fair bit of cycling and walking but since September all I've really done is a bit of halfhearted swimming. So, new Year, new start. I'm back doing my DVD three times a week like I did last year.

But, I tell you what - it's a heck of a lot easier than it was last January!

So, I have booked a holiday in Portugal next July for me and my little girl - and I am determined to be bikini-sexy by then. I've actually changed my goal from 140 to 133 - I may even try for 130, depending on how I look. I have a lot of belly flab and love handles still that I'd like to tone up.

We were doing a countup of all we've lost in 2006 from the old thread - I'll copy the list so we can add to it.

Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily- 32 lbs
Cheryl - 25 lbs

Hi Robsia . . .

Glad to hear you are having a good day. I know what you mean . . . it is a lot easier to get back in the swing of things after a little 'meltdown' than it used to be a year or so ago . . . hey, what do you think, maybe we actually learned something over the past year. ;)

Anyway, chickie . . . have a great moving and shaking kind of day again tomorrow (later today for you). See you soon. :carrot:

Sorry all for being MIA, just the holidays have gotten me a little more than pre-occupied, which I know is NO excuse for not taking five and coming to check in. I hid the laptop under my dresser so that it's outta reach to little hands, now THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER!! In a strange way, I'm relieved...doesn't that sound terrible. I've been a busy bee putting my house back in order and stuffing the Christmas cheer back in their containers. It took me a week to decorate and a day to put it all does that make sense?? LOL!!

Anyways...exactly one year ago tonight I made a change. I found some wonderful friends here and was about to embark on the tough task of losing 104lbs.!! Yikes, that sounded like the impossible, but in fact quite doable. So far, ticker says I've lost 57lbs. (psst..still owning it till I totally get back to routine). Now tonight, exactly one year later I'm turning a new page and about to embark on another tough task of losing 47 more lbs. Totally sounds doable, doesn't it!! I'm really excited! I'm about to plan my menus for the week and get ready to do some shopping (healthy shopping for it tomorrow), not quite so excited for the workouts (who said they would ever come easY?) but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! My husband is still waving the Hawaii trip in front of me for my goal retreat...hehehe!! I have no excuses, I have a ton of choices and I intend on making the best of it!

Seems we have a new thread, you're right Robsia, we totally needed one and I intended on doing that...but like I said, I was too preoccupied. The only thing I wish we could have done was to (repost) the welcoming post just in case we get some newbies.

I hope you all had a great holiday and totally ready to rock the year of more weight loss and healthy successes.

By the way the scale did indeed drop down 217.5 so hopefully these holiday pounds will disappear as fast as they came!

So glad you made it TINA . . . I was getting worried. :( Why don't you c&p the original greeting -- so what if it's a little bit down the page -- at least it will be there. :D

Boy oh boy - - - those two pictures really show how well you've done. Hardly know it was the same girl - - - you really are sure they are both you, eh?

01-02-2007, 08:05 AM
I edited my post to include the greeting!! Good idea Tina.

You look amazing - you have done so well.

Linda - thanks for the motivation. Looking back over the last year, I KNOW now that I can lose this last 20 lbs. When I look back over my monthly weight loss stats, it is so obvious that when I stopped doing my DVD 3x a week, my weight loss dropped from 5-6 lbs a month to 2-3 lbs a month. Definitely a no-brainer, but I was too lazy to make myself do it.

This moring my weight was down another pound! So looks like this Christmas gain won't be too long in coming off *fingers crossed*

Hey Girls how is everyone doing? Sorry I have been sporatic about posting lately. I have just not been in the mindset to keep going with this journey. After not getting on the scales all weekend and once again not eating on plan my scales are back to 222 this morning. UGH I so hate that number. That is a total of 7 pounds gained for the holiday season. I guess if you look at the stats I am an average American cause thats what all the experts say we Americans gain over the holidays. But I don't want to be average. I wanted to be able to control myself. HAH, so much for that. This morning I woke up so dissapointed in myself. I slipped and now it is time to get my grip back. Or so I thought when I gave myself the long long talk on the way to work this morning but ding bat me I forgot my breakfast and lunch at home. The lunch isn't so bad I can order out for a salad and stay healthy but not eating breakfast is going to throw me way off and by dinner tonight I will feel like I am starving.

OK OK I am sorry that I am rambling on and being a Whiny Baby. As for adding my name to the list I am sticking with what Robsia said. I did loose 60 pounds for 2006 so that is what I will put down even though the holidays saw 7 of it come back. I am now determined to GET BACK ON TRACK!!!!!

Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily - 32 lbs
Cheryl - 25 lbs
Tina - 57 lbs
Robbin - 61 lbs

Good Morning, girls . . .

Hey . . . my quickly gained Christmas weight is gone as of this morning and I was back to my ticker weight of 239.8. :carrot: It really did leave pretty quickly. So glad my philosophy proved true. Wow . . . I hope it works quickly for all of you, too.

Anyway, I've now changed my ticker completely to reflect the new year and the new lap on the great downward journey. I'm going to stick with my regular WWI from now on . . . this was kind of a special, one-time event. I've been weighing everyday this past week just to see how long it took to get rid of the 'goodies'. Wowee, wowee, wowee . . . the fresh new start feels sooooo good.

So great to hear that everybody is back into the "WE CAN DO IT" mind-set. We can do it, gang. Just keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

01-02-2007, 12:49 PM
Thanks Robsia for editing your post! I just want anyone who would by chance take a peek in here would feel more welcomed.

Linda, wow! Big congrats to you for dissolving your holiday gain so quickly. I'm big time envious of you! LOL!

Robbin, hey girl! Best not start out feeling depleted, we're still in this! Time to put our brains back in gear and start sweating it off again.

Well, I have a somthing caught in my clogs this morning...I slept in till 9! It just throws my morning when I'm off schedule a bit. I'm very maticulous(sp?), one little blurp can cause my whole day to go down the drain. I'm determined to stick to it though, even if I don't get down to exercise when I wanted to, it has to be done! Scales are a little nastier today, but I'm so tight a.k.a retaining big time! I should be off and making a great start in 2007 for this last half of my battle!

01-02-2007, 02:07 PM
Morning Ladies and a very happy 2007 to all of YOU!!! I can't tell you how happy I am to finally see the Holidays over with. Never had a white Christmas, but we did have a very white New Year's. We got 14" of heavy wet snow, which is unusual for us. Thank God for four wheel drive, the only way we are able to get out of our yard right now. Still have to dig the car out sometime today. I wasn't going to report what the scales had to say till tomorrow, but I couldn't resist stepping on them this morning. :woohoo: I'm down 4 lbs.

Robsia...I wish I would of given my total loss for 2006 instead of what I had lost on that day. Anyway, my total loss for 2006 was 37 lbs. Portugal sounds like a lovely trip and you will be so sleek and sexy in your bikini.

Tina...All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! What a difference 50 lbs makes, and I think you look younger.

Well gang, I need to get my butt in gear. Have to take the FD to town and it will take longer to get there since the roads haven't been cleared yet. Here's a little :dust:for all of us to share.

01-02-2007, 04:46 PM

Hi Ladies

I told you I would be back ! It might be slow going, but I will try to keep up with your posts and write when I can. If nothing else I will try for my famous "fly-bys".

A friend sent this to me and I thought it was rather appropriate as we start off a fresh year.. I hope you enjoy it :D (my apologies for the length ;) )

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee...

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the
jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things -- your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.

The sand is everything else -- the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls."

The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.

Evening chickies...just popping in to pass some time and gear my mind towards weight loss not cravings! LOL! I had a good day, totally on plan..which tastes better than any sort of chocolate or salty snack I might think I am craving right now! :D

Cheryl, wow, you really got dumped on. We've had rain today, which would be nice if it didn't freeze on contact. Makes getting around impossible unless you pack your skates! Congrats on the awesome loss! Wow 4lbs. is amazing, I'm so glad we're able to report great things this soon after the holidays! Woo Hoo!

Hi Colleen, and welcome to the group! I'll be facing my 29th birthday next month, I'd love just to be in ONEderland by then! That will be as close to HOT as I've been in years..hahaha! Congrats on getting rid of your first pound...keep em' coming!

Jordan, welcome aswell! Congrats on your loss so far! That's quite the accomplishment! What is your plan of action?

Hey Louie! Good to see you again! Loved your post, it's so appropiate to be reminded of this isn't it.

I guess that's all...I shall find other ways to keep my mind occupied. Perhaps surf the goal forums! Have a great night!

01-03-2007, 08:22 AM
(Evil motivation ) Who do you want to look better than? My sister, but she's a size 8 so it'll never happen!!

Wow - it's a whole year since I posted this in the introductions thread. Since then I have lost 67 pounds and my sister has put on about 30.

We are now wearing the same size clothes but she's about 5 inches smaller than me so she looks bigger on it. So I actually looked better than her this Christmas for the very first time ever in my whole entire life!!!

Is it rotten to be a tiny bit pleased about this? ;)

Welcome to Jordan! You've done really well so far - is that since September?

Louie - thanks for that story, I think I may have heard it before but it was ages ago and it's always worth repeating.

Tina - you are hot now girl! Bet your hubbie can't believe his luck!

I only lost a tiny bit this morning, 0.2, but I did my exercise DVD last night, having done it the night before, and boy could I feel it!! I think I should have a day off in between - but I was feeling all virtuous! Still, it shows it's working when your muscles ache.

01-03-2007, 10:03 AM
Good Morning . . . the sun is shining, but it's cold enough to freeze the hair off a frog . . . however, they are saying much warmer for tomorrow . . . which probably means more rain . . . guess I'd better get out there and enjoy it while I can.

LOUIE . . . . . . So glad to see you. Truer words were never spoken --- we all need to be reminded once in awhile --- "don't sweat the small stuff".

TINA . . . . . . Right you are, girl. Success, be it big or small, is definitely tastier than any chocolate ever produced.

ROBSIA . . . . . . Love your 'evil motivation' and boy did it ever work out. Hope your success motivates your sister toward better stuff, too.

Okay, chickies, keep it moving and shaking today. Here's some :dust: to help us all keep moving in the right downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

01-03-2007, 10:20 AM
Ok ladies I know I need to do personals and I am really sorry that I haven't for so long. But I am not able to fit them in right now either. I will try my hardest to get back here on my lunch today to get them in.

My scales are down 1 pound to 221 this morning so maybe it won't be long till I am back at ticker weight. I stayed on plan yesterday with eating but never did fit in the exercise I know I need to do. So far today I am on plan and had my oatmeal for breakfast, I brought an orange for a snack and low fat low car egg rolls for lunch. Haven't thought about dinner yet but will figure it out later.

Better get clocked into work. Check back later.

Oh by the way, All of you need to remember....I Love Ya.

01-03-2007, 11:11 AM
over the holidays, i eat whateva and partied a lot, but i only gained one pound and lost an inch!!!! weight loss is by the far strangest thing, i was totally off plan, but still lost. now that i'm back to work, i'll start obsessing over everything i eat again and probably gain weight! it's so weird!!!! even though i'm a lil late i want to wish all of you a happy new year, may we all achieve our weight loss goals in 2007!!! luv ya, ladies!!!

01-03-2007, 02:36 PM
Good morning ladies! And what a fine morning it is! I steered clear of all temptations lastnight and boy was it worth it! I gotta say yesterday was really the first day of completely being back on plan and it showed, scales were at 215! So do I count the actual holiday gain as 3lbs?? Because I know what the scale was showing was a lot of water retention and considering how much I pee'd yesterday I'm thinking I'm safe in saying 3lbs. is actual gainage....I know...I know...I'm muttering..but I got keep coming up with what makes me feel better right?! LOL!

Robsia, you're too kind with your flattery. Although, hubby seems to be a little more touchy feely since losing some weight. I bet your SO isn't turning his nose at you either!! You know this may sound a little harsh, but....YAY! You beat out your sister. Now back to reality...I hope that she is motivated to get healthy by watching you. I only cheer because I am in the same situation as yourself. I am the biggest sibling and I've always felt bad for it. My sister is only 5ft. so she may only weigh 170-180 but she is bigger than me circumference wise and secretly it feels good! LOL!

Linda, hahaha! Love the freezing the hair off of a frog! We're at a +2, and the sun is glorious. Hope you get a little warmer.

Robbin, keep sticking to plan and you'll be getting some great new numbers soon! Congrats on getting the scale down one pound. It's a step back in the right direction!

Jus, okay...let us in on your secret girl! LOL! Congrats to you! Here's to sticking butts back on the grind stone!

Have a great day girls! I've got some errands to run!

01-03-2007, 09:37 PM
Evening Ladies...First a GREAT BIG :welcome: to Colleen and Jordan! Sounds like you ladies are on the right track. congrats to you both for your losses.

No time for personals tonight, since I had a really busy day and was gone most of it. It was weigh-in day at Weight Watchers, and by their scales, I was down 6 lbs. Totally excited about that, since I made a promise to get back on program the day after christmas and it payed off big time. My ticker is correct, so I still have 8 lbs to go to get back to what I weighed before going on vacation last July.

Have any of you ladies read the new "People" magazine that is out about the people that lost half their size. If you get a chance, grab it! Also has the Biggest Looser" in it. Lots of information on how each of them lost their weight and the food plans they followed.

Linda...I didn't know frogs have hair...LOL...I'll have to remember that saying the next time we are below O. Today we had a record high of 47, and it started melting all that snow. Tomorrow morning we will probably be an ice skating rink for those that have to drive to work. Good day to stay home and quilt.

Have a great evening and don't give in to the cravings. Swim suit weather is only 5 months away.

01-03-2007, 09:46 PM
Hola Chicks

It's nice to be back in the swing of these. I certainly got way off track the past few months, but I am determined that 2007 will be a successful year for me. I am taking some time to come up with a good eating plan and I am on the hunt for the perfect lunch kit

I know that seems kinda crazy but I figure if I am going to pack a lunch everyday then I'm gonna do it in style. I was actually looking at this one ( whatchathink?? The thing I like about it is that it is portion controlled.

Tina - thanks for the welcome back. Your recent picture is gorgeous..definately a noticeable change over the past year.

Robsia - funny what we can accomplish when we put our mind to it. Great job on the recent loss !!

Linda - seems all of Canada is experiencing some rather wierd weather trends. We have been having some horrible wind storms lately.

Robbin - congrats on the 1 lb !! Your meals for the day sound yummy.

Jus - you must be doing something right, keep up the good work !

Well I am just in from work, so I better go figure out something for dinner. Take care and TTYS

01-04-2007, 12:48 AM
Hi ladies,

Well I'm back at work, so not as much free time to post. I just wanted to drop in and say hello (and get subscribed to the new thread so I can keep up with it better) :).

Tina, I love the new photo. You're gorgeous already. Just imagine how you'll look when you get to goal this year.

Louie, I love the story. I'm saving it to read again. Sometimes I think I have too much sand in my life. I like that lunch kit. Does it all stack inside the canister?

Jus, Great job on losing. Isn't it funny how it happens when we don't expect it.

Cheryl, Woohoo on losing the four lbs. Sounds like you had a cold wet new years.

Robbin, I know you'll drop those holiday pounds soon. Just keep your head up and keep working on it.

Coleen and Jordan, Welcome to you both. These ladies are great support. Keep posting.

Linda, I'm glad your theory about weight quickly put on, coming off quickly also. It's a relief to get back down to ticker weight, even though I was only there for a day before the ticker went back to 217 :p .

Robsia, hehehe for your evil motivation. We won't tell her that you're secretly enjoying being smaller than her. ;) For the first time in a good many Christmases, I'm smaller than my sis too. She had gastric bypass surgery in 2005, but isn't being very careful about what she eats anymore. I want her to get back on track, but I'm secretly enjoying weighing less and being smaller. I wish I could pull her back on track, but no one else can do that. She'll have to be ready on her own.

I've been back on track this week. I'm hoping to see a shift in the scale in the morning, but as we all know, the scale had a mind of its own. I can't remember if I reported this in the old thread or not, and I've got to get to bed and don't have time to double check, so please forgive me if it's a repeat. I went shopping over the weekend and discovered that I'm out of the women's sizes now. I can wear a 16 in the misses section in bottoms and a 14/16 in tops. I was so excited as it has been many years since I could say that.

01-04-2007, 01:12 AM
 Hi. I posted here and after my ds switching shifts (twice!), moving, and going back to school, I just never found the time.

Here's a little info about me. My name is Nicole, and I just turned 27 a few weeks ago. I'm a SAHM (Ben is 3, and Lauren will be 2 in two weeks) and a full-time college student. After I had my ds, I was back in my pre-preg clothes by 1 week. After my dd, it just never happened. I'm at my heaviest weight ever, 232. I think my goal is 150ish. I'm just going to play it by ear. If I remember correctly, I was around 130 and a size 3 when I graduated high school. That's a bit thinner than I like for me, so I'm going to around a 6 or 8.

01-04-2007, 08:50 AM
Howdy ladies, glad to be back amongst such a wonderful group of ladies and how awesome there are already too many posts to read in a quick glance this morning!!

A great big :welcome3: to all the new the new names I have seen as I have scrolled through this morning. I am putting in the "what i lost in 06 list" again so that i can remind myself what i did accomplish.

Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily - 32 lbs
Cheryl - 37 lbs
Tina - 57 lbs
Robbin - 61 lbs
Erin - 55lbs

There was actually a time that the number was 60 pounds but going by what i weighed on 1/1/07 that would be the most accurate. Now if we count all the actual ups and downs through that year it was probably 75 but lets just go with overall net loss!!!

Ladies i have to admit my year has not started well. I had two of my paitents pass away over the weekend and also we had a good friend of ours from church die very suddenly Saturday morning. He was only 44 years old had been married to the love of his life for only 2 years. They were the most awesome couple you would ever want to meet and were truly the example we all need of what christian love can do for a marriage. Their faith was strong and real (they were active bikers and involved in biker minisitry). They constantly loved on each other verbally and physically and it was a pleasure to be around them. The wife's son was injured in a 4 wheeler wreck 6 weeks prior to this and was partially paralyzed (originally told he would never walk again but is now doing it, slowly but doing it). So her faith had already been completely rocked and she was really struggling, so we all worried what the death of the love of her life would do to her. I watched her lay on the floor snuggled to his cold dead body and just say over and over "I am sorry" and ask why God, why. I thought how will she ever survive this. But let me tell you from Saturday about 9am when he died to sunday morning she found her peace with God and his plan for her life and she is already full of joy for the 2 years she had with him and the witness this opportunity is bringing her.

Okay sorry off on a tangent here but point being ladies, life is here and now and you never know when you may find it over in the blink of an eye, so truly live like today is your last, love God, love your family and love yourself enough to make the best of each day we are given. Most importantly love God, with all your heart, soul, mind and body!

Okay sorry for the preaching but after the experiences i have been through this last 5 days i feel compelled!

So I am moving forward with this weight loss thing and going to make the most of each day and not expect perfection. I will know that each struggle, plateau, and loss are part of a greater plan to bring glory where it is truly deserved!

Okay okay if i keep going here ya'll are going to boot me to the religion thread! I really am lighthearted and fun, promise!

Anyway, i do have to run for now but will try to get back soon and get some personals in. Again a huge welcome to all the new faces and glad to see so many of the old gang here too!

01-04-2007, 04:03 PM
Hey there girlies!

Having a pretty good day so far. Got my exercise under my belt and a good start on the water. Had 1/2cup yogurt, banana and cup of milk for breakfast. Lean ham and tomato sandwich on 12 grain, cup of grapes and of course a bottomless cup of water for lunch. And going to make a A-lo Fat Hawaiin pizza for dinner, intend on having two slices with a side salad. I think that should be pretty good. I tell ya, there's nothing like planning meals ahead to help keep you in line.

Cheryl, wow! You sure are rockin'! It's so exciting! Keep it up and you'll be constantly changing that ticker lower and lower. Your so motivating right now.

Louie, love the attitude! 2007 will be your year, and mine, and ours!! I like the new lunch kit, especially how the containers as you say are portioned controlled and stack inside the kit. Really deserve it!

Hey Tammy! I can't wait to make my dreams a reality. I'm looking forward to meeting goal right along with you! Do you have any before and during pics you'd like to share? I mean you have the greatest success of us all, so inspirational! Congrats on the new clothing makes it all worth it doesn't it!

Welcome back Nicole! Looking forward to seeing less of you more often! hehe! Make yourself at home and realize you can do this!! Woo Hooo!

Erin, all I can say about your post. How revitalizing! I know it sure put things into perspective for me. Live each day as best as you can and make choices that'll benefit you in the long run. Don't sweat the small stuff and be happy in the moment. You just never know what life holds for you around the corner. So sorry for all losses you've had recently, it's gotta be so tough.

Have a great day ladies!!

Hi Gang . . . I've had a strange, but fun day . . .

First of all . . . I took Cod Liver Oil for the first time in about 58 years. :D I have to tell you the story . . . a couple of days ago when I was complaining about the damp weather and my arthritis aches, a girl on another forum mentioned that she takes CLO and finds it really helps.

After I got finished gagging . . . I wrote back and told her this story . . . I was a strange child (guess I'm still strange, but that's beside the point) in that I really liked Cod Liver Oil when I was about 5 . . . I liked it so much that my Mother used to hide the bottle so I wouldn't see it and bug her to give me more. Anyway, you guessed it, I found it one day and drank everything that was left in the bottle. Luckily, no serious or long-lasting problems . . . but do I need to tell you that the mere thought of CLO makes me queasy to this day.

Anyway, I decided it was time I got over this silliness so off I went to buy some of the terrifying stuff . . . ended up getting CLO capsules because I just could not face the smell of the liquid (they are the size of gumballs :o ). Now, we'll just have to see if it does anything for the arthritis pain, but at least I conquered an almost 60-year demon ,. :D

Second event today . . . well it started yesterday when I bought myself one of those big gym balls. It came with a stability ring and a set of tension bands that you attach to the stability ring so you can do stretches while seated on the ball.

My girlfriend came over for coffee as I was starting to inflate this 'animal' this morning. After we stopped laughing about all the exercise I was getting just pumping this thing up, we then took turns bouncing on it to my CrazyFrog video. :dizzy: After about an hour of getting more and more silly (don't forget we're both in our sixties), we finally had to go out and buy one for her to have at home too. Anyway -- bet we will both be sore tomorrow. She also had to buy the Crazy Frog video. By the time we finished running all over town, the day was pretty much over.

Just to top it all off, my eating has been good today, so far, too. However, I have no idea what I want for dinner because I never got around to making any plans. Guess I could call and ask LouLou what they are having, but she's probably too busy blowing up her ball. ;)

So that was my day . . . Hope everyone of you has had a day full of good stuff and a little fun.

ERIN . . . Sounds like you've had some good stuff, although we certainly can't call it fun. Definately shows that things do happen for reason though . . . even if we do not know what it might be at the time. Glad your friend is coping so well.

NICOLE . . . a great big welcoming  for you. Hope you will like it here. We are crazy (at least I am) :dizzy: . . . but very supportive of each other.

TAMMY . . . Yes you did tell us about that wonderful size discovery already . . . but not to worry, good news is always worth repeating. ;) and isn't it wonderful how the little foibles of the scale- don't seem nearly as terrifying after you've been on this journey for a while.

TINA . . . Glad your day is going well, too. You are so right about pre-planning being a wonderful thing to help keep you on track . . . unfortunately, I'm not great at it. :^:

Oh my goodness, I've posted a novel. Sorry to keep bending your ears like that. Keep things moving and shaking, gang. If we do the best we can, we will be rewarded. See you soon. :carrot:

Hi Gang!

Robsia...Hehehe. There is "evil motivation" in all of us. I can't wait to be smaller than my two sisters. How sweet the moment for you to savor.

Louie...Thanks for the "don't sweat the small stuff". I'm going to pass it on to a few friends. Pretty nice container to pack your lunch in. I wouldn't mind one.

Tammy...Size 16, how wonderful!!! Bet you can't wait to get into a 14. We had wet snow for New Years, but it wasn't cold. We were out at midnight shooting off fireworks.

Nicole...Welcome back! The more the merrier!! :carrot:

Erin...So sorry for your losses this week. You are right, we need to cherish each day we have, and the people we share it with.

Tina...WOW! You are off to a good start with your meals planned for the day. How was your low fat pizza? Sounds yummy!

Linda...You brave woman. I took castor oil mixed with orange juice to help my labor along. Don't know if they are the same, but it was gross!! Never again!!! Hope it helps your arthritist.

Well ladies, I decided to try something different. Had 5 oz baked chicken breast, 1 c green beans and 3 oz baked potato with 1 TB ff ranch dressing for breakfast. Lunch was a LC pizza, raw broccoli and mushroom, 1/2 c grapes and 2 TB ff ranch dressing. Dinner was 1 c oatmeal, 1 c cantalope/strawberries and ff yogurt. It has really helped keep my cravings down. I'm anxious to see how many pounds I drop following this for a week. Tomorrow morning, I'm having 1 c whole wheat pasta with 1/2 c sauce and a small toss salad with ff ranch dressing. YUM!

Have a great night.

Hi Ladies

Tammy - yes, all those little containers have lids and fit into the bigger container.. now to see if I can find a location in Canada that sells them !
Congrats on the change in sizes.. that is awesome and you must feel so good about yourself.

Nicole - :welcome: nice to meet you and look forward to getting to know you.

Erin - glad to have you back and thanks for sharing  One of my best friends passed away in October at the age of definately made me appreciate every day so much more.

Tina - I think you are on to something there.. I think I definately need to start planning my meals a day ahead.

Linda - Don't know that I have ever tried COL, but if I have to I think I will go for the pill version ;) Sounds like you and your GF had a great time !! and I have to ask.. what is the crazy frog video :?:

Cheryl - and interesting day of meals... I know there are no rules about what you eat at what time of the day, but I don't think I have ever thought about eating chicken, green beans and potatoes at breakfast. Let us know how it turns out on the scales.

Today is my friday.. I have the day off tomorrow..YAHOO ! Not sure what I will, although I do need to crack the books for at least a few hours.

Well I best skedaddle.. take care and TTYS

Hi ladies,

Louie, I thought I was the only person who didn't know what crazy frog was. I"m still not sure, although my kids have tried to explain it. Enjoy your day off tomorrow.

Cheryl, castor oil and orange juice?? Eeeww, that sounds nasty. :p Did you see this week's People magazine? It was the issue spotlighting people who have lost half of their body weight. One of the "losers" did it the way you ate today. "Dinner" foods in the morning, breakfast foods at night. I think I read that she was writing (or maybe had already written) a book called "The Reverse Diet".

Linda, You've conquered your cod liver oil demons today, huh :). I can't even stand the smell of the capsules - at least the ones I remember from years ago, have they changed at all? You must have burnt loads of calories bouncing around on the exercise ball. Just curious - did you ever find out anything about HFCS labeling in Canada?

Hey Tina, Hawaiin pizza sounds delish. How did it turn out?

I've looked before and I can't find any full length before photos. I've posted a couple of before photos from the face up. Here is the link I was soooo good at hiding from the camera. I wish it were different now of course, but I can't help it. Okay, I'm also posting a new picture of me DH took for me today just for you. :) The pants are too big, but until they start falling off, I keep wearing them.

Oh Erin, I'm so sorry for the tragedies that have occured to your friend. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her dealing with her son's injury and her husband's death. I hope she continues to have peace about her time with her husband.

Nicole, Welcome. I hope you post frequently.

Well guys, I stayed on plan today with my food, but I didn't exercise this morning. So there goes one of my two days off this week. I've got to get to bed early enough tonight to feel like getting up.

Take care!

01-05-2007, 07:32 AM
Well, as of this morhning I am down 3 lbs since Sunday so I'm doing pretty well so far in getting rid of the Christmas gainage.

I had my first meeting of my slimmers' group since Christmas and I didn't put on the least, but I didn't put on the most either. But we're all motivated for the New Year now.

I tried a new exercide DVD last night and I struggled with it. I managed the warmup easily, but I literally could not keep up with the main part of the routine - they were all professional dancers and they went SO fast, so I flicked forward to the bums/tums bit, which I found quite easy and the cooldown. But the whole thing is 1h 20mins compared to my old one at 50 mins. So I think I'll be going back to my old one. For a while at least.

Robbin - congrats on the scales being down. You'll be back to pre-Christmas weight in no time!!

jusj - I am so envious that you only gained a pound over Christmas!! Well done

Tina - I guess I count the whole thing as 'gainage' and then when it comes off quickly I can say "yay!" But whatever works for you.

Cheryl - wow, 6 lbs!! That's fab.

Louie - well that lunch jar is nice, but a bit too pricey for me. I just go a with a £3 plastic box!!

Tammy - congrats on your new size and being smaller than your sister! Scales are quirky as we know - I am sure you'll see a change soon. WOW - on the pics. You look fab. You are doing SO well!! Have you added your weight loss to the list?

Nicole - welcome back and welcome to the group.

Erin - I am so sorry to hear about your losses! These things do make us hug our loved ones just that bit tighter don't they. ((hugs))

Linda - ewwwwwwwww on the CLO!! I never had it but it always sounded so gross to me. Glad you managed to find some in capsule form, as they do say it's really good for the joints. LOL about the gym ball! I can just imagine two, um, 'mature' ladies bouncing away on them like kids!

01-05-2007, 07:59 AM
Morning Glories!:) Hope ya'll are doing well and feeling motivated! Scales are still kind of acting weird, well i say scales but it is really my body, so i am moving the ticker up to where i really am. trying to stay away from living in denial. Haven't been getting much exercise in so hope to change that this weekend and really get things moving again!

Linda - you crack me up lady!!!! I can just picture two laughing 60 year olds bouncing on a great big ball. I love the big ball and use it with my patients all the time. I think the oldest I'vd had on it so far was a 94 year old man! He cussed me a lot but was really disappointed if we didn't do it!! I have a 101 year old I plan to get on it in the next few weeks! Ya'll keep bouncing it is a fabulous exercise tool!

Tina - okay you are inspiring me once again. I have never been one for meal planning but I've got to make some changes to get things back on track so maybe that is the route i am going to try!

Cheryl - i am anxious to see how you do with the flipping meals thing. I have heard of people doing that before but seemed like mixed results. Controlling cravings is a huge deal so I may add that to Tina's meal planning and see if i can do some damage to that scale!

Louie - I missed the beginning on the lunch box would you miind filling me in? I am so sorry for the loss you experienced, moving on in a positive way is the best legacy we can have for those we love. Glad to see you are back and more than a fly by!

Tammy - OH MY GOSH GIRL you look fabulous!!!! You should be so proud! I will have to get out and find those before pics to get the full impact! Okay i am lost on the crazy frog thing too, CHERYL can you give us clue?

Robsia - 3# you go girl! Love the Bums and tums bit, is this a dancing exercise video or just done by dancers? I was getting rather proud of my 30 min so 1hr20 min seems impossible! So good job on getting the 50 min routinely!

Well ladies gotta get moving on with another day of baack to reality! It is always so hard to get back into the grind of weekly working when you have been playing hooky a large part of the time for a month now! Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement on the loss of my friend.

Keep at it women we can do this!!!

01-05-2007, 10:04 AM
It is actually billed as being "the ultimate dance workout".

If I could mix and match, I'd use their warmup, the main section from my usual DVD, and BOTH bums and tums sections from both DVDs and the cooldown from mine, as theirs goes on for absolutely ever.

But I can't be bothered faffing about changing DVDs over so I'll just go back to my usual till I get a bit fitter - then maybe I'll try the new one again. I didn't buy it fortunately, my sister lent it to me and I copied it (shush - don't tell anyone ;))

01-05-2007, 10:34 AM
Hey ladies I am soooo sorry that this will be another fly by but I have just been so busy. Between work, home, kids, and trying to get everything settled with the Family Support Group so we will be ready for our soldiers to leave for Iraq in May I have been litterally falling into bed at night.

The scales were 220 yesterday and stayed the same this morning. I am staying on track with my eating but just can not seem to find some time for exercise. I really want to exercise though. My son got a new weight bench and weights for Christmas and I really want to start using them to see if it helps me any.

Well I gotta get to work. Boss will be in soon and I have to have everything caught up before he gets here.

Check back later.

01-05-2007, 10:42 AM
Thanks for the welcome everyone. :D Iím feeling pretty confident and good about things right now. 2007 IS going to be the year I get this weight off. I only have to average 1.5 lbs a week, totally realistic. Iíve already lost, though Iím only going to count my Sunday weights. And the part Iím most proud of: I have my menu planned out for next week and a grocery list made for shopping. And it still gets better. Iím taking my mom shopping tomorrow, and Iíve already pulled up the menu for where weíre eating lunch and found something both yummy and thatís healthy. Now I just have to work on getting my schedule for exercise worked out before classes start next Wednesday.

Linda- Youíre much braver than me. Iím staying faaaar away from the castor oil. Even when I was 15 days overdue with my daughter, it wasnít something Iíd consider. And you reminded me to call my mom and see if my exercise ball is at her house.

Cheryl-Thatís an interesting menu, or at least the order in which youíre eating it. Iíll be interested to see how it works out. Since my husband is still working nights, weíre going to start have ďdinnerĒ at lunchtime, so we can still eat as a family.

Tammy- Wow! The pics are amazing. How inspiring.

Robsia- Way to go on the 3 lb loss!

Robin- Sounds like things are pretty busy for you. I hope it eases off soon, and you have the time and energy to fit in some exercise.

01-05-2007, 12:38 PM
Good Morning, Chickies . . .

Wow, my back is killing me this morning . . . probably too much 'ball bouncing' or too much  about the 'ball bouncing'. I think I'm going to love it, but for today, I think Ball and I will just smile at each other from a safe distance. :D

Since many of you had the same comments/questions in response to my novella from yesterday, here are a couple of general answers (so I don't end up writing a sequel. :o )

Cod Liver Oil is a very old-fashioned vitamin A/D supplement that was popular when I was a kid (back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth). It is extracted from the liver of the cod-fish and it does taste really fishy. Most 'normal' people do not like the taste, yucky, (I was never 'normal' I guess). Luckily I can neither taste it or smell it in the capsule form that I got. Castor Oil is from about the same era but is in no way related to CLO. It is really nasty, evil stuff  and used to be given to bad children who complained too much of a stomach-ache. After one dose, they never complained again. :barf: -- At least that's what I hear -- I was never given CO. -- Apparently it was originally extracted from the intestines of a beaver but is actually a natural plant product derived from the bark of some kind of tree.

Crazy Frog is a weird cartoon frog and most of you have probably seen him in some little TV shorts. I think it's aimed at kids, but, hey, I guess I'm 63 going on 3 . . . I love cartoons of all kinds and Crazy Frog songs really get me moving. Here's a link to the 'official - meaning, tryingto sell you something - website' --- SEE THE FROG ( --- you'll probably recognize him when you see him.

CHERYL . . . That upside down eating-plan sounds great. I'm a cereal lover anyway . . . wonder how three meals of oatmeal a day would work. :o

LOUIE . . . My next question was going to be . . . have you had any experiences ordering stuff from US sites? I mean, I don't mind paying the exchange rate, but I hate it when Revenue Canada tries to tack on duties and special fees . . . had a bad experience buying yarn from Lion Brand, once. :(

TAMMY . . . Wow, girl, those face shots really tell the story. You look fantastic. :D Yes . . . I'm pretty sure that HFCS is Fructose-Glucose on Canadian labels. Guess I need to get over my Cool Whip addiction. :^:

ROBSIA . . . Great going on dropping the 3 pounds . . . the rest will be gone in no time. :)

ERIN . . . Thanks, girl -- suddenly I don't feel so old and silly about my buddy "Ball". :o The cats think I'm insane, of course. Actually, they are right.

ROBBIN . . . Hi there, you 'high-flyer' you.

NICOLE . . . Go get that ball, kiddo. You will do great around here, especially impressed with your pre-planning for the lunch while out shopping. ;)

Well, I'd better get going since it definitely looks like I've :comp: another short story at least. Is this how you started out, Robsia?

Have a great moving and shaking day, girls. We will be rewarded if we just keep doing the best we can as much as we can. See you all really soon.

Oh Wow . . . LIZA . . . Welcome back, chickie. Stick around, please. We are here to help you through everything if we possibly can. You've definitely taken that first, most important step back on the long and twisty trail to better health and fitness. So good to see you. :D

01-05-2007, 02:23 PM
thanks meowee:hug: wasnt sure if anyone would even remember me:dizzy:
theres not many of the old gang left is there!! but everyone who is here is doing fab on the weight loss:D

01-05-2007, 03:43 PM
Wow, this place is sure hoppin' today! Love it! I'm having a good day considering the scales played a 'nasty' this morning. I stepped on and they went up 2lbs.! Yikes! You eat right, exercise and still you can't get good results. Well, anyways...the scale can throw whatever it wants at me...I'm still determined to continue without the batt of an eye. There is no alternative, besides I'm doing this to better me in the long run scheme of a healthier life and the scale can decide it's going to come along nicely or take it's time...either way I'm gonna try my hardest to eat sensibly and exercise despite it! Take that scale!!! LOL!

Linda, okay...the picture you painted of you and your friend was priceless! LOL! I gotta thank you for that first and foremost! Cod liver oil, being a easterner, my mom forced it upon me too and I still have bad flashbacks. The aftertaste alone is enough to swear from it for life, and that is exactly what I did. Blechh!!

Cheryl, how's your upside-down day going so far? LOL! They say we should mix things up a bit while trying to lose and you really took it literally! Love the idea though, be interesting to see what results you get from it. If it takes care of cravings then hey, it's all worth it! :) The pizza was really good, my daughter says that I make pizza better than Pizza Hut. Although it made me feel good, inside I was laughing at her ability to suck up at the age of five...haha!

Louie, good luck with finding your lunch box here in Canada. It's such a pain to find alternatives. Hope you are having a great day off and making the most of the time!

Tammy, wow! Thanks for posting your before and during pics! Like Linda says, they sure tell a remarkable story. I'm so inspired by you. You're a rock and the energizer bunny who just keeps on going. You look amazing, you have done oughta have your trip to so deserve it!! By the way, you are a beautiful woman, lovely face and a knocker of a smile!

Robsia, congrats on the 3lbs. back in the right direction! I've always wanted to try a dance workout, but I'm afraid with my co-ordination it'll never be. I'm sure you will have the routine figured out and bee-boppin along in sinq sooner than you'll give yourself credit for.

Erin, I love your enthusiasm! Just keep coming here and motivating me all you like! LOL! Like you, I'm blaming the scale for all my's just easier to accept that way..hehe! Brave girl for moving that ticker back up, it's a tough one to allow. One I hope that I can do if I can't nip this in the bud soon!

Hey Robbin! Glad your finding time to be true to you throughout your whirlwind of business. I hope that you're able to find a few minutes before collapsing to fit in the exercise you want. You've got the eating down, lets celebrate in that fact alone. Coming off of a Christmas "binge" is hard enough!

Nicole, I can't tell you how successful I feel for having my meals planned ahead of time. It just helps to know what you're having before hand and eliminate the times when you start picking through the pantry/fridge/freezer trying to come up with something and 'accidentally' grazing while doing that...if that makes any sense!? LOL! For me, that's usually what happens...I get so hungry that I snack while cooking. Awful.

Liza, glad you found us again!! You can do this, you're right this is the year for YOU! You also have the right frame of mind. Don't think of this as a 'diet' to get 'skinny', it's a new lifestyle that will in turn make you and your son healthier (and bonus! thinner!) and enjoy eachothers company for a long time to come! Just keep posting and keep up the great new effort you've started since the new year!

I see novels are becoming the thing around here...hehehe! Love having this much activity in here! Keep coming and keep posting! Have a great day all, lets keep trudging along for a better us!

01-05-2007, 05:42 PM
Hey girls poppin in for a quick afternoon post. Has been kind of a long stressful day but at least now i am home where i can deal with the stress without a bra.... that always makes things easier to cope!

Robbin - I am so sorry for all the struggles you are having right now. I can not imagine the stress you must be feeling. I really admire you for not just throwing in the towel and saying the heck with it! Keep at the good work and I know you will see things moving along real soon!!

Nicole - you go girl! Got the menu and the shopping list! I am impressed. Sounds like I really need to get on the meal planning band wagon!

Linda - yes very likely the date with Ball did in your back! Hopefully it will fade quickly! I will have to check out the frog website and see if i already know the little booger! Oh and you will probably not catch me anywhere near CLO or CO. Although i have used CO on lymphedema patients legs as a skin softener and to break up fibrosis.

Liza - WOW SO AWESOME to see you back! Getting control of the bipolar should help you considerably and hopefully you will be well on your way to a healthy and wonderful you in no time!

Tina - every time i fuss about getting serious about eating and exercising and the scale goes up someone wants to start the "you must be gaining muscle speech" and i just want to slap them!!!! We have talked several times about doing some measurements to help during those scale stagnant times. what do you say we pick a few key land marks and start tracking them as well? Like i said to nicole i think i am going to have to start meal planning for sure. I am so bad about having no clue what i want so i pick and pick and then up with something not near as healthy and have probably snacked on more than enough for a meal.

well gang gotta run, kids are too quiet and I want to be sure we are not having another styrofoam snow storm somewhere!!

Hello everyone,

I would like to be part of this forum as well. I just started this week and my goal is to lose 46 lbs by Sept. 25th, my 39th birthday. I don't want to hit the big four zero the weight I am at. I need to make this a permanent lifestyle change. I am trying the Weight Watchers plan because I have been successful with it in the past. I have high cholesteral and was given one last chance by my doctor to get my weight down (and the numbers down) or he'll put me on medication. My two brother's are in shape by have heart problems and I want to minimize my risk of heart attack, high blood pressure and stroke. Both brothers have high blood pressure and one has a defective valve. One is in the military and one is a graphic artist/advertising designer.

Anyway, I am emotional eater and have gained a lot of weight in the last month because my girlfriend of 25 years died needlessly when she was struck by a car while walking across a side street. It is still under investigation and we still don't know whether she jay walked or the driver was in error or both. It was two young people in a pick up truck with music blarring. It makes me wonder. The police aren't giving us or her husband any information. This happened on Dec 08, 2006. I still am going through the wide range of emotions that come with death. I refused to hit the anger stage because that isn't what God wants. I am praying for the family as well as the driver of the vehicle. They are going through he-- as well. Sorry, don't like to swear.
Sorry I'm rambling. Thanks for listening(reading). It is time to start a new way of life for myself because I realize it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.

Good evening, ladies

What a day, it has been pouring all day long :rain: Definately a good day to stay inside and keep warm. I didn't really do anything today.. must have needed a rest day. I worked straight through the holidays, so this must have been the rest day that I needed. Tomorrow I definately need to hit the books and I may do a bit of shopping.

Tammy ~ wowsers !! your pictures are awesome. You look so much younger.

Robsia ~ 3 go girl !! Well done :cp: It's funny that you mention about the price of the lunchkit. I thought that myself.. but then thought I wouldn't have any problems spending that much money on pizza or a meal out, so why do I find it so hard to spend that much money on my health :?: Guess it is just a mind set that we have.

Erin ~ I was talking about buying myself a lunch box to motivate me to take my lunch to work.. which I have been terrible at doing !! I think in the end I will probably just buy myself some containers in various sizes, but it has been fun trying to find something.

Robbin ~ sounds like you are keeping busy. We certainly appreciated the flybys :D

Nicole ~ I am very impressed with the planning that you are doing... definately a key to success !!

Linda ~ now I know who Crazy Frog is. I actually saw a video the other day but didn't put the two together.

Liza ~ I remember you, so glad that you are back

Tina ~ sorry to hear about your 2 lbs, but you will kick those back to the curb in no time :club:

Erin ~ had to laugh about your "no bra" comment. That is what I love being at home.. no underclothes and being able to wear my pajamas. I love pajamas !!

Tracy ~:welcome2: to the group. I look forward to getting to know you. So sorry to hear about your friend

Love that the board is so busy, but feel like I have written a short novel  Well I better go get myself some dinner before it gets too late. Have a good evening and talk to you on the weekend

Todayís been a lazy day for us. My 3 year old has a fever (104!), and he just wanted to snuggle all day. That and watch Cars. We watched it 3 times. Sadly no exercise today, unless you want to count cleaning the kitchen. I even went through the pantry and pulled out all the junk. I had stuff like truffles left from Christmas, those complete meals in a box, stuff like that.

Linda- I agree, it probably was the ball that did your back in. Hopefully itíll be back to normal soon. I donít recognize Crazy Frog at all. Clearly 3 years as a SAHM has made me lose touch with the ďreal world.Ē

Liza- Hey chickie. Welcome back. (even though I was around then ;) )Hopefully now that you know whatís causing those moods swings, itíll be easier to control and stick to eating healthy and working out.

Tina- Donít let the darn scale get you down. I agree with Erin, using other methods to measure progress is helpful. Or at least I think it will be. As much as I hated doing it, Iím taking weekly measurements too, and, the scary part, taking a picture in the bikini I want to wear again the first of every month.

Erin- Yes, get on the meal planning bandwagon. I feel sooo much more confident this way. When I go to the grocery store I have a shopping list, no grabbing random crap. Even if I go to the store hungry, I stick to the list. Then during the week, I donít end up snacking here and there while I search for stuff to throw together a meal. And I hope you didnít have a styrofoam storm to deal with. I can completely relate to kids being quiet equally nothing good.

Tracy- Welcome! Iím so sorry to hear about your friend.

Louie- Rainy days always make me feel so lazy; I have the hardest time motivating myself. I hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Iím off to go fold the laundry on my bed, so I can go to bed. (Itís my trick, if I pile the laundry on the bed instead of in a basket, I HAVE to fold it before bed.)

01-06-2007, 06:13 AM
hi gals thanks for the welcomes back.:D

nicole, hope your little one feels better soon, and yes cleaning the kitchen burns calories so it all helps!

louie, everyone deserves a rest day, hope you enjoyed it.

tracey, welcome, and so sorry to hear about your friend.

elem, hope your stressful day got better without your bra heehee. i also luv bein home in my pjs

have a good day y'all xxx:carrot:

Good Morning Ladies . . . we have another very mild, very rainy day -- it was already 10C(50F) at 6am. Lower back is feeling a lot better, but my neck and shoulder are complaining bitterly (probably slept funny). Hoping to get at least a quickie session with Buddy Ball today. ;) I've been looking at for a ball workout DVD and, of course, found so many that I'm very confused. Anybody have any suggestions for something at the "aged-beginner-couchpotato" level. :dizzy:

ERIN . . . You are probably right about measurements being a good idea, but, for me personally, I find them (well at least my so-called waist) even more depressing than the blipping scale- I'm sure it is tied up with the effect that my insulin injections have on my omentum fat, but my 45 lb loss has only netted me a 3" reduction in waist size and based on what I've read, most people would average 2 or 3 times that amount. I have lost a good 6" or more off my hips and we don't even want to discuss the poor, shrivelled up little boobies. :^: I'm looking more like a beach-ball with legs all the time; must be why I'm having such a fun time with "Buddy". :sumo:

TRACY . . . and :welcome2: . . . So sorry about your friend . . . This too will pass, and you will all be stronger for it. Look forward to seeing a lot less of you, more often from now on. ;)

LOUIE . . . Yep, I definitely belong to the 'No Bra Brigade' too. However, I'm a nightgown kind-of girl; don't like anything around my non-waist if I can avoid it. :o

NICOLE . . . Never fear, your toddler will probably discover Crazy Frog before too much longer. :D Wow . . . I love that little laundry trick.

LIZA . . . Good going on the exercise, girl. BTW, do you have AMAZON in the UK? (No not the river; :p the book-seller)

Well, guess I'll be off about my business for now. Have a great moving and shaking day, gang. See you again really soon.:carrot:

01-06-2007, 09:46 AM

01-06-2007, 10:22 AM
Thanks for the info on Amazon . . . LIZA . . . and good work ignoring that white chocolate.

"Buddy Ball" is just the name I've given to my new exercise ball that I was talking about the last couple of posts. :D

01-06-2007, 10:33 AM
ah, i havnt named mine heehee!

01-06-2007, 02:16 PM
Hi all, just poking my head before I head out for the afternoon. Hubby wants to go out for lunch, fingers crossed for the choices! And Alyssa has a birthday party to attend afterwards. I will AVOID the cake! LOL! Scale gave in a measely 1/2lb. this morning, but at least it's in the right direction.

Have a great day! I'll be back for personals this evening!

01-06-2007, 09:00 PM
Hi Gals

I participated in some retail therapy today. I am actually a terrible shopper, in fact I can safely say that I really dislike shopping. But today I managed to drag my sorry butt into a store as I needed some weekend wear. I bought myself 3 pairs of pants and 3 shirts, so was pretty happy with that ;)

Nicole ~ hope your son is feeling better today, or did you have another marathon movie day ??

Liza ~ good job on getting your workout in and staying away from the fries and chocolate:D

Linda ~ did you get your session in today with buddy ? Sorry can't help you out with any video suggestions; however, did you try the exercise posts ?

Tina ~ how nice, lunch out with hubby and a downward movement on the scale wHOOhOOO !! Hope you had a good day and didn't give into the cake

Hope you are all having an enjoyable weekend.. TTYS

01-06-2007, 10:39 PM
Hi Gals...Just a quick pop-in for tonight. I'll be back tomorrow to do personals. I was gone all day yesterday and today, so I just want to put my feet up and relax tonight. Still doing good with eating dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Most people would think it's a bit crazy, but I'm eating the heavyest meal first and have all day to work it off.

Have a great evening.

01-07-2007, 04:27 AM
morning gals!!

meowee, i got the reebok ball workout dvd but couldnt do most of what was on the workout, i just use it for situps now or to sit on while i use weights

cheryl, how confusing having breakfast and dinner the wrong way round, do you work nights?

louie, i hate shopping, once your in plus size clothing then shopping for new clothes is just no fun.

tina, hope you avoided the cake and well done on the 1/2 lb!!

off to get my workout done, didnt manage to do my other 10mins yesterday but will def do 20 today. be easier if i could do 20mins in one go but im still having to do it in 2x10 min workouts. oh well start slowly and ill get there in the end just have to build that fitness up again.

have a good day y'all xxx

01-07-2007, 06:16 AM
Yay - just a quickie to say - first week gone and I'm down 4 lbs! LOL - it's exactly where I was last year when I first started. I lost 4 lbs that first week too!

01-07-2007, 11:54 AM
:rain: Yikes, I think it is time to start building an arc !! It has been raining hard all night and although it is just about 8:00 here it is still relatively dark out. Hmmmm me thinks I need to find a good book and curl up on the couch with the dog for the day :dz:

Robsia ~ congrats on the 4 lbs, that has gotta make ya feel great :carrot:

Liza ~ you are doing so well with your workouts..keep up the good work :cheer2:

Time for me to go shake the cobwebs out and make me a :coffee: Hope you all have a restful Sunday

01-07-2007, 02:19 PM
Hey ladies, sorry I didn't get to do personals lastnight. I dived into a bunch of filing that has been neglected for far too long! I tell ya, there's no job a wife and mother doesn't have to do huh?! LOL! Todays is hubbys only full day off from work, so it's gonna be hard to get back here for personals. I promise tomorrow!

Hope you had a great weekend!

01-07-2007, 02:46 PM
quick question. is doing :lifter: x 300 per day burning any calories??

01-07-2007, 05:18 PM
hey guess how much treadmill iv done today....5mins...pathetic aint it :o
weigh in day tomorow you'd think id be trying to burn as much as possible today but noooo this lazy butt just cant do anymore today:(

01-07-2007, 06:26 PM
Hi there, gang . . .

Been having one of those days . . . you know what I mean . . . the kind that just seem to disappear in the wink of an eye.;) Still don't seem to have any time to stick around here, but I wanted to drop in with a quick HI for everybody.

Have a great evening doing whatever it is you are going to be doing. See you soon. :carrot:

01-08-2007, 04:13 AM
its weigh in day! im down 4lbs!! :carrot:

01-08-2007, 12:47 PM
Good morning ladies! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was good and some what quiet. No visitors which was a lot more easier to keep the eating out under control. Which I guess is a really good thing because scales gave me another pound. Down to 216, which is a lot better than the 217.5 I got last week after a couple of days being particularly good! LOL!

Now then, time for some catching promised!

Erin, I agree about the measurements. I think I will take mine today...just to be curious and to actually take a record of when I do lose an inch. I think another way to celebrate a loss is a great idea! Girl, meal planning is the way to go. It takes some committment but is sure helps in the long run of the week.

Tracy, Welcome to our group. Nice to have you! You should fit in here nicely, we all know what emotional eating entales. You're doing this for the right reasons, to better YOU! This journey isn't all about getting thinner, although the side effects of getting healthier is awesome considering you DO get thinner! LOL!

Hey Louie, after working through the holidays..of course a rest day is mandatory! Glad you had a good weekend! I gotta say, I loved the theory for allowing yourself the $$ to buy the lunch bag. It's so true isn't it?!!

Nicole, yikes! That fever is something. I hope all is well with your son by now. Did you pin point what was causing it? Hmmmmm...Me in a bikini? I don't this so! But, you go girl! Ain't nothing but the truth and whole truth when in comes to taking pictures like those...LOL!

Liza, knowing that you want to work yourself up to 20 minutes on the treadmill...I've got a motivating tid bit for you. It takes at least 20 minutes into a workout before your body actually starts to burn fat. I know, I know! I was a little taken a back by it too. I try for 30mins. on my elliptical which means I only get 10 mins. of the good stuff! You're doing so well, and you will get to this point. Keep up the great work, and awesome stuff turning shy the fries and sweets your son had. And a big congratulations on the 4lb. loss! 'Weigh' to GO!

Linda, so did your buddy ball do anymore damage to you over the weekend? I hope you two are able to get along enough to have some good workouts daily...LOL!

Cheryl, I guess that having your highest caloric meal in the beginning of the day and having the rest of day to burn it off makes sense. If your stomach allows it, then go for it. I can't wait for your weigh in day to see what affect it has had. Just I have a problem with getting myself to the point to where I feel like eating breakfast sometimes. Then again, if I woke up to the smell of a steak...things change! LOL!

Robsia, congrats on getting 4lbs. off. That's a great weekly number to get this far into the game!

I guess that's all she wrote folks! I'm off to keep this day striving along. So far, I've had oatmeal and a cup of milk for breakfast. For lunch I'm having an Asian salad mix (green cabbage, broccoli, carrots, red cabbage, chow mein noodles, sliced almonds, and seasame ginger dressing...low-fat/low-cal and low/carb!) And for dinner we're having grilled marinated souvlaki pork loin chops, veggies and side salad. Now I just need to get down on the silly elliptical and work it out!

Have a great day girls!

Ok Ladies I know I am way way past due on personals, and I do apologize. Life seems to be moving so fast these days and I canít really keep up. I know I was going to do them over the weekend but we ended up going out of town for Saturday and finished up putting in a new kitchen floor on Sunday. And this afternoon isnít looking too hopeful for personals either.

I want to let everyone know where I stand as of today. I did really well with my eating last week and saw the scales drop 2 pounds but over the weekend I once again lost control of myself and the scales are back up to 222. I refuse to change the ticker I am going to get back to pre-holiday weight and I will do it soon. I am going to get control of myself and take my life by the reigns. There is no choice in the matter. As of yesterday I have been back on track and am doing well with eating. I do believe the 2 pounds up is mostly water weight from a couple of margaritaís I drank over the weekend (more like 4).

Next I want to Welcome all the new faces and let you all know you could not have picked a better group of ladies to help you on this journey. If it werenít for them I would not have stuck to this for as long as I have.

Please forgive the flyby once more and I promise to try to find some ďpersonalĒ time.

01-08-2007, 05:38 PM
Wow, I am having a really strange, strange, strange day. It's like one of those flashback sequences in the movies. . .

Up at 5 am with a nasty Hypo . . . and to think I was worried I would oversleep and be late for my "Oh Such Fun" vaginal ultrasound . . . anyway, while I was out to the hospital, the weather was extremely mild and very windy and the radio was talking about the fact that it was going to get even more so throughout the day. Got home about 10 am . . . took first dose of a new medication . . . and decided I needed a little nap . . . when I woke up again 2 hours later, we were in the middle of a blizzard . . . it was like a whole other day out there. Thought I must have pulled off some kind of RipVanWinkle move. I even wondered about what day it was for a minute. :dizzy: Reason I mentioned the new med was because it is now just about 5:30 pm and I have just gotten up from my second nap of the day and the only thing I can think of is some kind of reaction to the new Rx . . . will have to see what happens over the next day or two. Now when I look out, you'd think I dreamed the whole snowstorm episode. :?: Except for the fact that the radio is confirming that it really did happen and also that the roads are really treacherously slippery because of the remains of the storm. Just plain weird.

Anyway, I'm going to beg off on the personals too . . . I'm so far behind on my plans for today, I'm really not sure which way to turn next. Hope tomorrow is a better day. Just want to say congratulations to those 4 lb 'losers' and way to go to all those devoted 'exercisers' and 'planners'. Yippee . . . you are doing well.

See you soon, gang. . . keep things moving and shaking and you'll keep on heading in the great downward direction . . . whatever day it is . . . see you all tomorrow . . . that'll be Tuesday . . . I think.:^: . . . Have a great evening. :carrot:

01-08-2007, 06:27 PM
Howdy gang! I have already left the kids alone too long ( and with a tube of M&M's to boot!) so have to be quick did some notes for personals while reading what i missed so the personals may seem a little odd in their order but read back from my last post.
Tracy - My heart goes out to ya girl! I am a professional emotional eater and can really pack on some poundage that way and with the kind of emotional trauma you have had that would be understandable! You'll have to check out a post I did a while back. I recently had a new but good friend die suddenly of what we think was a heart attack or aneurysm and it has change me for sure!!!! We would love to have you join us!!

Louie - First thing off when i hit the house is shoes and bra. I probably have more pajamas than i do any other kind of style of clothing! Always good to have a do nothing day now and then! Any luck finding a lunch box yet? Have you tried a sporting goods store? Sometimes they have really cool stuff in the camping section? Loved the "retail therapy" comment! Have been doing a little of that myself lately! Did you float away or are things drying out now?

Nicole - has your baby gotten well yet? 104 is pretty scary! No styofoam snow storm this time, they were actually behaving this time! Haven't done the meal planning thing yet, still trying to get a grip on my eating overall right now. I have several low carb and low fat cook books i would like to go through. Plan to do it before next weeks grocery shopping and will see what i can come up with!

Liza - Unfortunately my stressful days seem to be adding up but definitely better when you are unrestrained!!! Any movement above and beyond your normal routine is burning calories, the more you do the more you burn!!! little bits of stuff throughout your day can add up to a lot of calories burned! Just like the treadmill 5 min done is bettter than 0!!!! (which is what i have donein the exercise department by the way!) That's where those 4 pounds came from! Awesome job!!!!

Linda - you know you are right, my waist has come lower since i started on metformin that it had been at the same weight without metformin. Never thought that could have something to do with it! I am sure injections have a much stronger effect though. So how is "Buddy"? have you bounced lately? Wow very weird weather for sure! Hope the medicine hangover leaves you quickly and you can get on with your day!

Robsia - congrats on the 4 pounds down in the first week! that is huge!

Tina - Have you measured yet??? I am going to have one of my friends do it for me because i am so bad about " well is it this or is it that" so let someone else decide, plus that helps to hold me accountable! I have got to get on the ball with the meal planning. I really do have a several ideas just need to get them done!

Robbin - HANG IN THERE GIRL!!! I feel like we both have been fighting the same few pounds for a while now and I truly believe there is a breaking point and I mean for the scale not for us!! We have to stay strong and we will conquer this mountain!

Cheryl - how ya doing lady! Saw the quick fly by and you are off again, huh?

Well would like to say i have been the perfect model of a healthy eater but i have sworn of telling big old fat lies for the new year! SO nothing exciting to report here yet. The emotional thing has really got the better of me right now. So working on getting a grip and hopefully will be joining the 4 pound club real soon!!!!!

01-08-2007, 10:11 PM
Hi Gals

Hope everyone survived Monday. I was on a course for work all day.. in fact I am on it all week :dizzy: Nothing like sitting on your butt for 7 hours !!!

Liza ~ CONGRATS on the 4 lbs.. yahoooey !! You have been working your tail off and it paid off.. good for you :D

Tina ~ a CONGRATS for you too :D Your menu today sounds yummy

Robbin ~ thanks for flying by... good to see you

Linda ~ yikes, sounds like the bad weather is moving East. We have rain and wind again today, but certainly not as bad as Saturday night. Hope the rest of your day was productive

Erin ~ no lunch box as of yet.. but I am still on the hunt. I may just buy myself some nice tupperware containers (or something similar) that are certain serving sizes. I think that will serve the purpose ! I am totally with you on the PJ's.. love love love them and is pretty much the only clothing that I wear when I am at home !!

Well dinner calls, so I best scoot. Have a great evening, TTYS

01-09-2007, 10:31 AM
hey gals,

treated myself to a day off yesterday and didnt do any exercise, but feel terribly guilty about it today, havnt had time to do a workout yet today so its gonna have to wait till this evening

louie i could quite easily sit on my butt 24/7 heehee

meowee hope you are feeling better after your hypo, do you get them often?

tina, thanks for the info, im sure if i pushed myself to 20mins id give myself a heart attack so i think its better to ease into it

robbin im sure that 2lbs will drop right back off

01-09-2007, 01:41 PM
I supposed trying so slip in unnoticed would not work? I've been playing hooky from the group for about 8-9 months now. I've gained back all I'd lost while keeping company with you fine folks and I'm starting all over again....successfully this time, I hope! Hope you'll not make a big fuss about me being back....I really wish I could do it if I never left because I wish I hadn't. I'm very impressed with everyone's lossed, although I can't help but wonder where I'd be if I hadn't left all those months ago. No time like the present to make today a new day, huh? I weighed in yesterday at scales bounce between 239 and 238, so that's a good thing. Water, I know....but I'll take it! Water or not. I'm also wanting to go to a WW meeting tonight. Say a lot of big prayers for me, please. I don't want to gain anymore...I want to watch it melt away. :) Thanks, guys. I know you all are still the best! :)

01-09-2007, 02:18 PM
Okay, I'm back...didn't stay gone long, huh? My mother in law just called me. She has, over the past year, lost about 70 lbs. She weighs about 165 now. She had her teeth pulledd and went thru taking care of her mother dying with cancer. The toll of it all resulted in the weight loss. She called me and asked me if I wanted to start going to ww meetings with her!!! Okay, first of all, I cannot even imagine weighing in front of her...and she's the type that she'd look and be obvious about it even if you told her you didn't want her to look. I tried to graciously tell her no. I wanted to go tonight, but she'll be there. I sooooo do not want to go with her. I'd rather go it alone. I'm stressed now. Just a little background...she and I have attended counseling together to try to help our relationship. I cannot do this!! I'm telling you....I cannot! What a way to begin my weight watcher...with a blow up front. HELP, GUYS!!!! I need encouraging words.....

01-09-2007, 02:23 PM
Hey ladies how is everyone doing today? I am doing better than yesterday and have about 20 minutes of my lunch left and thought I would drop in. The scales were at 220 this morning so I am pretty happy about that. I have calculated all of todays food and will be right on track. I have tried to schedule about 30 minutes of exercise for this evening and hope nothing interrupts it. I haven’t really exercised since I got sick about a month ago and I know I NEED to.

Since I have a few minutes I am gonna try to get in some personals. If I miss you please do not be hurt by it, I am only catching up as far as the last couple of pages and I will try to catch everyone I can.

Tina I wanted to let you know your new pic is just so darn adorable. You are so pretty.

Linda your afternoon yesterday is very weird but it sounds a lot like the type of weather we get here in Oklahoma. The saying is in Oklahoma that if you don’t like the weather stick around for a couple of hours it’ll change.

Erin aren’t those M & M’s the best. A package of them and some cartoons and my kids are set for about an hour. Good thing they aren’t my favorite cause it’s the only candy I will keep in the house. I know you and I have been fighting the same few pounds for quite a while. We are gonna have to do something about this. I just don’t have any clue as to what.

Louie it’s always good to see you to. What did you have for dinner last night? I am always looking for new things to try.

Liza you were right and the 2 pounds did drop back off now just to get the other 5 I gained from the holidays off. Keep you fingers crossed for me.

Gaining (sorry can’t remember your first name) welcome back to the group. You need to remember we are here for you. Even when you aren’t on track coming here will keep your spirits up.

Everyone else (cause I know I missed a lot) I hope you are all having a good day. Congrats to anyone that has lost and sympathy to anyone that hasn’t or has seen a gain.

I guess its now time for me to go back to work. I promise I will not take so long to do personals again.

Love you all.

01-09-2007, 02:24 PM
hiya losing in la, i dropped out last year about the same time as you and just got back into the group this week, its great to have another whos done the same as me, i gained back more than what i had lost, oh how i wish i could have stuck it out and been down 50 or so lbs by now like the rest of these skinnies.

01-09-2007, 02:26 PM
robbin you sneaked in while i was posting, ill keep my fingers crossed for you if you cross yours for me :)

01-09-2007, 04:30 PM
well gals just popping in quickly to tell ya iv done my workout, gosh it really helps having this place, before i got on the treadmill i though hmm can i be bothered im bit tired after walking to the shops this afternoon instead of taking the bus but then thought no the girls online will kick my *** if i dont workout heehee!
you'll never guess how long i stayed on the treadmill for......30minutes :faint::carrot:
now before ya go wow well done i have a confession and a question first.
my treadmill has 3 setting flat slight incline and uphill, now since i got it i've had it on uphill, when i got it outta the box it was on number 3 so i left it on there but today thought id just see what the others were like so put it down to number 1 - flat and it is a lot easier so thats what it was on for my workout just now. still im quite pleased i lasted 30minutes so yay for me!
ok thats my confession out the way now my question, is it better for my weight loss to do a short hard workout or an easier longer workout? tina mentioned the other day that its after 20mins that you really start to burn so does that mean its better to do a longer workout, i guess at the end of the day i burned the same amount cos i stayed on for longer at an easier pace, or did i ? i dont know which should i do keep it at flat and do a 20minute workout and sometimes even push myself to 30 or should i put it back to uphill and only manage to do 10minutes?:?:

01-09-2007, 04:59 PM
Good afternoon girlies! I hope you are all found well and sticking the pounds and inches to the curb! I had a busy morning, went straight to water aerobics this morning after dropping Alyssa off at school. This is the first day of it opening back up since a week before Christmas. It was well needed! And boy oh boy, what a work out!! After having a good on schedule day yesterday, the scale popped back up to 217...what gives?!! I'll never figure out this body, all I know is to keep trying and keep my spirits up. Having awesome day as far as food goes and water is coming along nicely. I just hope no cravings come up and try to spoil my day. Those buggers are hard to fight!

Robbin, we're getting a dig on those holiday pounds. A few more shovels and we're be back at our tickers. If it doesn't go soon I'll be investing in a snowblower! hehehe! Thanks for the compliment.

Linda, wow, what a weird day. I would totally be freaked out. I remember once I took some gravol (which totally knocks me out) and took a nap. Well, my nap was so good that when I woke up I thought I slept the whole night. Got up took a shower, got ready, ate breakfast, grabbed my school bag and walked to school. Nothing clicked in until I was walking back home from school after finding the doors locked (seeing I was a senior and only in school for a couple of morning classes I thought I missed the memo saying we had a day off) and it started to get darker...light bulb! hahaha! That's a story my family will not let me live down, especially the part where I crossed paths with someone and said good morning!!

Erin, I haven't gotten to my measurements yet. But I fully intend on doing it today. I hear ya, it helps when you have someone do it for you, especially for those moments when you really don't know what it's on. Especially when it comes to your waistline, what do you do? Stand normally or suck in. According to the doc on Oprah, you suck in as much as you can to get the truest measurement. Hang in there girl, get your thoughts and emotions in order and you'll be telling us about some new numbers soon enough!

Louie, having an on track day is something. Whether it's on your butt being seditary or not...your eating is on target! Yay! Thanks for the congrats.

Liza, I gotta give you some congrats! 30 minutes is amazing. No wonder it was so hard for you to stay on for quite awhile. Incline is hard for anyone, let alone a beginner! Keep it flat for a while. It's better keep an elevated heart rate for an extended period of time. If you go all out, you only last a little bit. If you regulate it you'll be burning for a longer period of time at a pace that's doable. It's all about pacing yourself for endurance, thus burning calories for longer. Now, when you've been walking for a while, and used to the routine and feel for some more challenge, it's good do some spurts of energy-bursting running/jogging periodically to get your heart pumping faster and then go back to walking to catch your breath. You'll burn more calories in the length of time your on, and of course you'll burn more calories when you feel you can incline the treadmill again. I hope in all that mumble jumble you're able to make sense of it. Good going girl!!

Wow, Diane! You found us! Glad you're back and making a new beginning. Just wipe the slate clean and another step in the right direction. I can't tell you how many days I've tried and re-tried to get this right. Everybody here can testify to that aswell. I have said earlier, this is more than just a 'diet" to get's about making a healthy life style change. There's no race, just days of trying to make a new lifestyle work. Somedays it will be easy and work, and then there are days that are totally off. But that doesn't mean the next day has to's a new start to a new day. And about your MIL attending the same meeting...well, if you plan on staying with the same WW group...then eventually you're going to have to face this "demon", is it better sooner than later...I don't know. Is there another weight watcher meeting in town, or different night you could attend? She did call to try to be a support, maybe she could be your best ali?? How good is your relationship? All the best my dear as you try to figure this one out!

Have an awesome day ladies!

I'm just popping on quickly to let you all know I'm still around. My son was sick all weekend, and a sick 3 year old and a jealous 2 year old means no time for me. ;) He's fine now. It was weird just that fever all weekend. It got down to around 102 and hovered there for a while.

I weighed Sunday morning, and I'm down 5 lbs. :carrot: We have a family reunion in May, so my goal is to be in size 12 by then. I'm between a 16 and 18 now.

I'm going to skip on doing personals this time around. Classes start again tomorrow morning, and I'm trying to get completely caught up on housework. I'll pop on tomorrow evening.

01-09-2007, 07:47 PM
thanks tina and it wasnt mumble jumble at all it made perfect sense oh and i laughed out loud at you saying good morning and walking to school haha!!

nicole well done on the 5lbs and glad your son is feeling better.

well its almost midnight over here so im gonna get to bed all this exercise is making me tired *yawn!

catch you girls tomorow XXX

01-09-2007, 09:29 PM
Hi Chicks

Just a quick flyby as I am just in from work and want to get some stuff done before dinner. I will try to make it back later for personals, but if not I hope you all had a wonderful day.

Take care and TTYS

01-09-2007, 09:52 PM
Afraid I'm doing a Louie again tonight, gang. . .

Things were definitely better than yesterday since I only required one nap instead of two. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to stay awake all day. :o I really do not think I like this vaginal estrogen the doctor insists I take for the next 2.5 months; at this rate I'd rather keep the 'odd' pap results. :dizzy: I did manage to get in a couple of short visits with Buddy and the Frog today, but other than that I do not know where the time goes . . . amazing what a couple of extra hours in bed can do to throw everything out of balance. :(

It was a beautiful day today . . . mild and sunny . . . and absolutely no remaining sign of that strange little blizzard from yesterday. I really think I've moved into the Twilight Zone, sometimes . . . whooooooooowhoooooooowhooooo . . . be afraid, be very afraid. Thank goodness the radio agrees that the storm really did happen.

Anyway, gang, I'm off to bed . . . it's almost 10 pm and that one nap was just not enough I guess. You keep on moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction, everybody. See you all tomorrow. :carrot:

01-09-2007, 11:28 PM
Just an end of the day note....I stuck to it today...and I found another WW meeting to go to (30+ miles away, but hey, it's not with my mother in law!!! I'm sold!) My husband even went with me and enjoyed the leader! He wants to go back!

Enough for now....gotta get my last kiddo in bed. See you all tomorrow, hopefully a slightly lighter version of myself. Thanks for the support, guys! I knew coming back here was a good and positive thing to do.

01-10-2007, 09:46 AM
Good Morning, Chickies . . .

Another beautiful sunny day shaping up here in rural Nova Scotia, but with much more seasonal temperatures. Some snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, but hopefully no more Twilight Zone weird stuff. :dizzy:

This was my WWI and, basically, I'm practicing maintenance. A little disappointing since I had one of my best eating and moving weeks in a long time (at least if you don't count my strange nap-day). Oh well, things could be a whole lot worse. :( I'll just keep reminding myself of all those wonderful little platitudes . . . all things worth having are worth waiting for . . . slow but steady wins the race . . . etcetera, etcetera, etcetera . . . ;)

Well, gang . . . I've got things to do and places to go. Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody, and I'll see you all a little later. :carrot:

01-10-2007, 09:48 AM

01-10-2007, 03:35 PM

COLLEEN . . . . . . and JORDON . . . Welcome to both of you. So glad to have you joining us and congratulations to both of you on your losses so far. Was that a 2006 loss Jordon? Just let us know and we can add it to the list as well.

Keep it moving and shaking, girls. See you again soon. :carrot:
Sorry I havent responded sooner. School just started again and I havent been able to get to a computer. I lost a total of 47lbs.

01-10-2007, 03:43 PM
Well girlies, mid day check in today! I am about 10 hours into making it 24 without eating any sugar. I have gotten so far off on my eating that i am implementing the day at a time plan full force. have semi planned supper-- chicken on the george foreman with some melted cheese and veggies, probably brussel sprouts and green beans. Like i said sort of planned.

Louie - cont ed classes can just wear me out! hopefully the time will pass quickly so we can see you for more than fly bys again!

Liza - don't fret over the day off, we are human not machine! And yay on the 30 min! Elevation is a killer for sure, but i do believe there is some truth in the longer the better. Your steadfastness with the exercise is making me feel really guilty! I have got to get a move on!

Dianne - could give you lots of cliche's about don't be so hard on yourself and all that but as we all know we all struggle with the shoulda coulda woulda's! We are glad to have another real person who shares the battle of getting this done. And as for the mom in law thing, oooh hard one. I know what you mean about not wanting her in on the details of what is going on, i know i wouldn't want mine there for sure!!! Glad you found another meeting and hubby going with you is awesome!!!

Robbin - so did you get the exercise in? I really feel like that is key right now, but still haven't made myself get back on track yet.

Tina - i vote for the sucked in stomach thing, i agree with the doc, better measurement of what fat you have not lack of stomach muscle! I amy try to get some measurements here in the next couple of days, have to co-ordinate some time with one friend not the group things i have been doing, not ready for the whole gang to see it all hanging out!

Nicole - glad to hear your son is better and i know what you mean about a sick child taking up all your time! Congrats on the 5 pounds!!! great job!

Linda - Hope you are conscious and moving into a full day of wakefullness! We have had some weird weather but i really thing you beat me on that one!

Well girls gotta run. Supposed to be doing paperwork before i go to get a hair cut, may try something new. I am trying to let it grow and this in between thing is killing me!!

01-10-2007, 04:25 PM
checking in again iv just done another 20mins on the tread and 150:lifter:
maaaaan im tired now!

01-10-2007, 05:55 PM
Robsia - 67 lbs
Tammy - 87 lbs
Linda - 45 lbs
Emily - 32 lbs
Cheryl - 37 lbs
Tina - 57 lbs
Robbin - 61 lbs
Erin - 55lbs
Jordon - 47 lbs

Just updating the list . . . thanks for the info, JORDON  . . . glad to see we didn't lose you. Hope school is doing good by you.

Well, I lost my whole afternoon to the darn old Estradiol reaction again . . . today I had even more nasty little side-effects and had just decided to take the next dose at bedtime tomorrow night, since I want to sleep then anyway, when my GP calls to say he has the results of the ultra-sound I had done on Monday and they are not looking too great. It was the GYN who ordered the test, but have I heard from him? of course not. Then the GP says he will drop a line to the GYN and that I should stop using the vagifem until I hear from the GYN . . . Don't these darn doctors ever talk to each other . . . at least the medication won't be causing me to sleep all day any more . . . probably be wide awake for weeks, :tired: wondering what comes next. Maybe I can have a hysterectomy done at the same time as my cataract surgery . . . surely the two doctors would be working far enough apart not to keep gettin in each others road. :dizzy: Hey, don't imagine a cataract is worth anything, but surely a uterus should account for a pound or two. :^:

Anyway, that's my fun day. Hope yours has been a lot better. Have a great evening of moving and shaking, gang. See you later. :carrot: Sorry for the rant. :D

01-10-2007, 07:16 PM
Hey girls! It's taken me awhile getting here today. We're in the midst of a blizzard and I've been trying to dig out the driveway and sidewalks off and on today. I'm weak and cold...brrr..I hope tomorrow is a better day! This die hard mom even took Alyssa to school and only 3 other kids showed up. What was I thinking!? Scales are back at 216, lets hope there's no more surprises and I can move on from those numbers.

Nicole, glad to hear your son is feeling alot better. Seems you have been an overwhelmed mom these past few days, but look that didn't stop you! Congrats on the 5lb loss! That's really good, you must be on cloud nine!

Liza, I'm glad you were able to make sense out of all that. And you're still doing an amazing job with your exercises. Great job! Your new found motivation and determination is refreshing. Keep up the great work!

Louie, my day could be a little easier, but I really don't have too much to complain about. At least I'm stuck in it like a lot of other people I've seen today. How is your weather? Still raining?

Linda, I'm at least one of us Canadians seem to be enjoying the weather, lucky you! Boy, you sure are having quite the time of it with your meds. I hope taking it in the night will help you better adjust. And, maintaining isn't something to sluff off you's so much better than a gain! Good for you!

Diane, well I'm certainly glad you found a resolution around bumping into MIL at a WW meeting. And that's awesome that your hubby is excited and wanting to join too. What an awesome support. How is your day turning out?

Erin, one step at a time. Your committed to a semi-plan and that's great. If you follow through today that'll give you more incentive to continue on the next day. I gotta ask you can you stand brussel sprouts??!! LOL! However, it does sound like a healthly meal...good on ya!

Well, it's 4.15 and about time to start thinking about dinner myself. Hope you all had a great day!

01-10-2007, 09:14 PM
Hi Gals

What a day !!! Got up this morning to snow on the ground.. BLEECH. I actually enjoy snow; however, our whole town seems to shut down when it snows, so getting around is a bit of a nightmare. About 15 minutes before I was to leave the house for my training it started coming down again and seemed to be sticking, so there was no way I was taking the car out.. so I WALKED to my training. It took me about 25 minutes, but I did it !!! Took me the better part of the day to dry out.. but what the heck :D

Tina ~ sounds like we are getting the same weather. Temps are suppose to drop over night here, which may mean icy roads tomorrow... I hope not ! I bet you burned lots of calories today !

Linda ~ no need to apologize for the rant, sounds like you are going through some not so nice stuff. A big  for you.. take care !!

Liza ~ go girl !! You are doing a great job keeping on with your exercise.. could you do a few reps for me ;)

Erin ~ a new hairdo how fun !! I had my hair cut about a month ago as part of a job interview. Let the stylist do whatever she wanted to and I actually love it.. best haircut I have had in a long time.

Jordan ~ nice to see you.. flyby when you can and say hello :)

LA ~ glad that you found another WW meeting to go to. Are they still doing the points and flex plan or did they come out with something new for the new year ?

Hubby just made me a hot chocolate to help warm up my tootsies, so I am going to go relax and enjoy it. Have a great evening and TTYS

01-10-2007, 10:14 PM
Iím soooo tired. Classes started back today. I donít know what genius in administration decided itís physically possible to get from any one point on campus to any other point in 15 mins or less. That person was clearly either a very talented runner or smoking something. ;) I suppose thatís what those buses running every 5 mins are for, but Iíd really prefer to walk and get the exercise. *sigh* On the plus side, I really think Iíllenjoy my MWF classes (philosophy Ė contemporary moral issues, sociology Ė class structure, womenís studies Ė women in society).

Linda Ė That sucks that the meds are affecting you so much. I hope you can get it all straightened out asap and get back to feeling normal again.

Diane - Glad you figured out something with WW and that your dh is on board too. That built-in all the time support definitely makes a difference. I know if my husband wasnít in board and was keeping junk in the house, thereís no way Iíd have the will power to stick with it.

Erin Ė Sort of planned works for me too. We pick enough main parts of the meal for the week, then each morning, we pick whatever sounds good, then when Iím cooking, I add whatever veggies call to me. I think I can safely say brussel sprouts will never call to me though. So what kind of haircut did you get? I love new haircuts or colors.

Liza Ė Youíre kicking butt on the exercising. I have to admit that until I get adjusted to my schedule, Iím counting my 45 mins of sprinting across campus daily as my exercise.

Tina Ė Yuck, snow. Reminds me while Iím glad to be a southern girl. Way to go on still taking your daughter to school. Not having to drag myself out in the weather is one of the perks of homeschooling Iím looking forward too.

Louie Ė Yuck, you have snow too. Itís making Canada seem less attractive to me. Woo-hoo on walking to your training though. You go girl!

I think I'm gonna go have a banana, hop in the shower, and head to bed. Tomorrow is an even earlier day for me.

01-11-2007, 07:59 AM
oh dear i was a bit naughty last night and ate some cookies :o :(

01-11-2007, 08:01 AM
when i say "some" i mean the whole packet :o:o:o:o:o:o:(

01-11-2007, 11:39 AM
for every serving of a cookie you ate you should go run/walk one mile. then you'll feel better about it

01-11-2007, 12:39 PM
I'm here...wanted to check in before anymore time had passed. My older kids have gone back to school, but my 3 y.o. has been sick. Most computer time has had him on my lap so no posting.
I've been having a hard time getting mentally back in the game. I did have a good workout on Tuesday, but then yesterday I ate a ton.
I've changed my ticker weight to reflect my true weight. Decided they should be one and the same, lol. I think this week has just been an adjustment after 2 weeks of having everyone home. I've been more tired having to get up early and I feel like I've been on superspeed as far as running kids to their activities and trying to get things done at home. I do know what I need to do though. Just need to find some oomph.
Anyway- I'll post more...I know that helps too.

01-11-2007, 02:08 PM
Just a fly by for me atain today. Yesterday scales were down to 219, I stayed on track yesterday and the stupid scales are back up to 220. I will never figure this out. UGH

01-11-2007, 07:45 PM
just a quickie, 10mins tread and 400 reps
catch you gals tomorow XXX

01-11-2007, 08:47 PM
Hi gang . . .

Guess the estradiol is still in my system even though I didn't use it today . . . I had another two-nap day. This has got to stop . . . I'm getting nothing done and my BGL is going up, too . . . probably from my complete lack of activity . . . if I don't soon get shaking again, I'll be the only person in captivity to have a negative BMR. :D

Anyway, it's great to see it so busy around here . . .

DIANE . . . You couldn't have asked for a better answer to the WW/Mil situation. Hope DH continues to go with you. ;)

ERIN . . . Good going on kicking the sugar habit. It can be a tough one. I was going to say that sugar is not really a problem for me since I gave it up long ago (because of the diabetes), but then I remembered my Cool Whip addiction . . . it's full of HFCS . . . I've got to stop, it.

TINA . . . I can just picture you and Allysa, all bundled up, beating on the door to the school. Hey, your heart is definitely in the right place. Just too bad you are a glutten for punishment. Stay in and stay warm the next time the weather gets so bad. :D

LOUIE . . . Wow, that's quite a walk in the snow . . . especially when you've got a meeting to attend. Just try to keep it out West. We do not want it down East. :dizzy: I know, I know . . . our turn will come. :(

NICOLE . . . I'd bet $$ that the admin type is male, about 6'2" tall and a definite jock-type. Stick to your guns as much as you can. It will get easier. Glad you love your classes.

EMILY . . . Hopefully things will get settled down again soon. Nothing worse that a sick toddler. You are right . . . more posting equals less binging. ;)

JORDON . . Now fess up, girl . . . do you always follow that little cookie rule?;) Oh probably . . . you are young and dedicated. :)

LIZA . . . You are becoming a lean, mean, exercising machine. :woohoo: Bet that package of cookies is long gone . . . just try not to make a habit of it (cookies, I mean). ;) But fear not, we've all done stuff like that. the trick is to put it behind you (no . . . further behind than that. :o )

Hey, did somebody just see, ROBBIN whizzing overhead? Hi girl.

Okay, gang (hope I didn't miss anybody - and where's Robsia hiding) . . . I'm off to watch some TV . . . and hopefully bounce around with Buddy Ball a little bit. Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of evening. See you again soon. :carrot:

01-11-2007, 09:33 PM
Evening Ladies

Well we had a little bit more snow last night, but then everything turned to ice !! I drove to my training today and it wasn't too bad, so hopefully the temperatures don't take too much of a dip overnight.

Liza ~ as you can see from my avatar, I LOVE cookies  I am sure with all of that exercising you have been doing you have worked them off, but I give you credit for being able to come here and confess that you ate them ;)

Linda ~ I'll do what I can to keep the weather out this way, but no promises :D Hope you found some time to spend with your new pal Buddy.

Robbin ~ good to see you, hope all is well in your neck of the woods :)

Emily ~ nice of you to pop in, hope to see you again soon :)

Jordan ~ how is school going ? You may have told us previously, but what are you studying :book2:

Tina ~ how's the weather in AB ?? Hopefully you got a bit of a break from shovelling today !

To anyone I may have missed

Not sure what I feel like doing tonight... guess I will see what kinda trouble I can get in ----> translation.. what can I watch while I lay on the couch and do nothing .. LOL

Hope you all have a wonderful evening and TGIF for tomorrow

01-12-2007, 12:09 PM
Hello ladies! I didn't get a chance to do personals yesterday. It was -33 when I woke up so I kept Alyssa home and made it a really busy day. I was really impressed with myself yesterday. I did my sculpting Biggest Loser dvd workout and then right after got on the elliptical for 20 minutes. The rest of the day I kept busy with housework and laundry. It felt like I haven't sat down since morning. I thought I would have burned a ton of calories but it only gave up 1/2 lb. this morning. I'm getting there, slowly but surely...scales are at 215. Hey, I guess if you consider the 217.5 I saw this week, then that means 2.5lbs. for the week so far! Woo HOO!

Louie, take it easy in the weather conditions. I saw -33 and below -40 windchill temps and Monday we're suppose to be +4!! Yeah, believe that one when I see it! LOL! Hope your keeping warm!

Nicole, home-schooling huh? You go girl! I just don't think I would have what it takes to try and teach my daughter. She gets so upset with me when I try to correct her. How I word things has to be soft enough not to hurt her feelings. Let alone try to teach something a little more difficult in years to come. I think she takes instruction better from someone other than me.

Liza, I'm impressed! You picked yourself up after having a little slip and kept on going. That's what it's all about isn't it.....Your never really off plan unless you make it that way. Keep it up! That's how you win this battle!

Emily, it's a big time adjustment from holiday mode back into routine. Keep treading and you'll be back in no time! I wish you all the oomph in the world!

Robbin, my scales jumped around too this week. I started out with 215 went up throughout the week and now I'm back down to 215. I don't know what it was or why it happened, as I was on plan in all aspects. I'm just glad I'm back down...lets hope no more spikes are in my future. Hang in there and you'll drop again too!

Linda, oh're really in a loop! Hang in there and I hope things start straightening out for you soon. I miss your funny upbeat self.

After so much activity yesterday, I feel totally wiped, soar...etc. Whatever other kind of excuse I can throw out there. All this because I don't feel like exercising today. Sheesh...suck it up Tina!

01-12-2007, 05:48 PM
wow tina that was some workout! :carrot:
louie yeah i had noticed your cookie monster av lol
meowee, me- lean and mean i dont think so!!

well just got the little guy to bed so im to watch some tv from the comfort of my treadmill....the sofa is calling my name tho... think of weigh in day think of weigh in day think of weigh in day.....

01-12-2007, 07:00 PM
Well, guys I'm still here. A bit miffed cos after last week, my weight nudged up to 152 and has stayed there all week.

I've been really good, doing my DVD and I even got an exercise ball after inspiration from Linda.

All I can do is keep going and it'll come off, right?

I jut feel so gutted for being such a pig over Christmas. If I'd had more control and only put on 5 lbs or less, it would have gone by now!

01-12-2007, 07:59 PM
I am soooo tired. Holy cow. I remember being last tired when last semester started too, and it got better after 2-3 weeks once I got adjusted and into a routine. So now I just have to muster through. My TR classes are rather boring. (Intro to Statistics, Women in Music, & the Emergence of the Modern American Woman)

Liza - Donít beat yourself up about the cookies. Of course, my approach to food is to not be too restrictive. We have very small portions of snacks everyday. If I tried to cut out chocolate of chips completely, Iíd just end up binging down the road. And if it makes you feel better, weíre going out for dinner tomorrow, and Iím going to order whatever sounds good, have a glass of wine AND weíll probably order dessert. ;)

Emily Ė I hope your little one is feeling better soon. I can def. relate to dealing with a sick toddler.

Linda Ė Yuck, I hope the meds are out of your system now. I had to give in on getting to class. Between my 2nd and 3rd classes, I just CANíT get there quick enough. By the time you factor packing up after class is out and getting out of the building, very heavy pedestrian traffic (I go to a pretty big school Ė U of TN) and having to cross a couple of heavy car traffic, including one very heavily traveled road, itís not happening. If I was the only person walking and there were no cars, then no problem. But, at least for now, Iím hopping on the bus.

Louie Ė The only thing worse than snow is ice. Weíd be stuck at home for days with that kinda weather. Course I have been a southern gal for over 17 years now. I hope you enjoyed your evening with the tv and couch.

Tina Ė Wow busy day! My house needs me to have one of those. ;) Yeah, Iím planning on homeschooling, well actually unschooling, but still at home. I tend to have a few crazy hippie ideas/beliefs. Or a lot of crazy ideas, depending on who you ask. :D

Well Iím off for the evening. Iím going to feed and bathe the kiddies and tuck them in. Then Iím pulling out the Belly Dancing dvd. :belly: I probably wonít be around much, if at all, this weekend. Tomorrow is our anniversary (6 years already!), and Sunday our daughter turns 2.

01-12-2007, 08:52 PM
Hi ladies...Just a quick pop-in for now. Hope to be back tomorrow to do personals. Hubby and I have been under the weather with the flu since Sunday, so no weigh in this week. Don't feel like doing anything but sleep and stay under the covers. Congrats to all of you that have lost this week. Way to go!!!:carrot: :carrot:

01-12-2007, 09:08 PM
Sorry, gang . . .

Tonight I am just going to be whizzing by overhead and  to everybody. You know how it goes some days. Suprisingly enough, I had a whole day of being awake, so I think the nasty estradiol is out of my system. I got caught up with some of the stuff I haven't gotten done earlier in the week, but then ran out of steam before I got a chance to drop in here and now it's early to bed for me.

Anyway, you have a great evening of moving and shaking, ladies, and I will see you tomorrow. :carrot:

01-12-2007, 09:17 PM
Hi Gals

Well that nasty white stuff hasn't paid any more visits.. now it is just the drudge on the side of the roads. Cooler temperatures today, but a nice blue sky, which makes up for the dreary weather we have been having lately.

A slight jump up on the scale for me this morning, but TOM has arrived, so nothing out of the ordinary there !!

Tina ~ your weather sounds dreadful.. BRRRRR. Glad that you stayed in and sounds like you stayed busy and got in a great workout :)

Liza ~ good for you for hitting the treadmill while you watch TV !! What shows are popular in the UK right now ??

Robsia ~ have you given your exercise ball a name ? I think Linda's is named Buddy :)

Nicole ~ Happy Anniversary  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Cheryl & Linda ~ great to see you, even if it is just a fly by. Hope you both feel better soon

Hubby is heading out shortly so I must fend for myself for dinner.. hmmmm.. don't even know what is in the fridge (me thinks I need to get some groceries !!). Take care and TTYS

01-13-2007, 10:11 AM
LOL - no I haven't given my exercise ball a name! But it's great fun!

Well, the scales edged back down to 151 this morning so that means I have lost a pound since last Sunday. Not what I wanted on my second week back but it's better than nothing!

Sorry - I'm nipping out in 2 mins so no time for personals but hi everyone!!!

01-13-2007, 10:29 AM
Good Morning, Gang . . .

Just found the most terrific exercise website/publication thanks to a poster on another forum . . .

WIN - Active At Any Size (

It's specifically geared to those of us who have specific obstacles to exercise or are just plain "large". As well as the basic info it contains, there are also some great resources (publications, videos, net links) listed at the end of the document.

Have a great moving and shaking kind of a day, girls. I'm off to spend a little time with Buddy and the Frog. :carrot: See you later.

01-13-2007, 01:13 PM
Good morning ladies! I just wanted to poke my head in real quick, I'm so excited. I dropped another 2lbs!! I am only one pound away from ticker! Yay! All that hard work finally paid off!

Have a great day striving for your ultimate goals!

01-13-2007, 01:21 PM
HI, everyone! Sorry it's been days since I posted. It's been very very busy 'round here. BUT wonder of wonders, I've stayed on track. I'm so glad we went to WW meeting Tuesday. Otherwise, I probably would've "fallen off the wagon" (as hubby puts it) by now. I'm down substantially (atleast 5 lbs) this week. But it's first week, so I expected that. It's exciting nontheless. I dread the slow down. I know it's coming quickly. :( I'll need everyone of you to help me not get discouraged AGAIN! As long as I go to meetings, I do pretty well. And hubby really seems to be on board this time. Hopefully it'll be a success.

My lovely monthly friend showed up this morning. That should be good for a pound or two, huh? LOL I'm all crampy and back hurts. Feel like curling up on the couch and doing nothing today.

We live in Louisiana. My son is eight and the last time it snowed (with accumilations), he was two!!! We're halfway expecting some "winter precip" on Sunday or Monday! YIPPEE!! Wish some of you who are tired of it could send a bit our way! It's a rarity for us. Go to the national weather service web site and type in Shreveport, La. in the city, st search bar. You'll see what I mean. If we get any winter precip at all, they close schools down here! LOL Everyone freaks out. My mother in law called me earlier to tell me to go stock up on everything because we were supposed to get some ice Monday. LOL We're such rednecks!

Gotta run and try to get motivated. Good luck everyone for the weekend! And thanks so much for all the kind words of support. You can't know how much it means to me!!!

01-13-2007, 05:44 PM
I dont always do it, but I always do something to make up for it. I havent been able to get to the gym recently, so I've just been watching what I eat more closely. When I do alot of cardio, I'm more likely to eat because I figured I just ran and burned extra calories.
School has been great, I have been studying like crazy because I have exams in less then two weeks. The only one I know I'll get an A in is Spanish. Thats pretty much the only class that just comes easy. I dropped German last year because the teacher and I really had some differences, but I still know enough to have a conversation.
I wouldve replied sooner but I went to Koln today(pronouced Colonge)with family. I figured if I'm in germany we might as well go do something other than sit at home.

01-14-2007, 10:29 AM
Hi ladies, I havenít posted all week, but Iíve been reading everyday.

Leygh, I hope you had a good day in Koln with your family. Are your parents military? Did you say that already, I canít remember?

Hi Gaining in LA, I donít think weíve ďmetĒ yet. Congrats on the great first week weigh in. Youíre right that it will slow down, but itís fun to see that big drop anyway. I live in Mississippi, and we get very little ďwinter precipitationĒ either. Everyone here is hoping weíll get it Tuesday, if we get it at all, since many places are already closed for MLK day on Monday. :) I have to laugh about your MIL calling you to stock up. Anytime there is a chance of ice, the bread and milk shelves, (the staff of life I guess for most Mississippians) are empty at the grocery store, by the time I get there.

Tina, congratulations on the loss! All of that exercise and moving around that you did last week really paid off. How do you keep warm at -33 degrees outside!!!! Since losing weight, I am constantly cold, and I live in Mississippi! I donít know how I could handle living in a colder climate.

Linda, Glad to hear the estradiol is out of your system and youíre playing with buddy and frog again. :D

Robsia, The scales are moving in the right direction now, even if itís not as quickly as youíd like. Congrats.

Hi Liza, I guess Iíve started posting since you used to post. Arenít cookies evil. I canít eat just one or even just two, so itís better for me to not have any.

Louie, It sounds like you are getting lots of cold weather too. I hate driving on ice. We lived out west in the mountains for a few years, and I never got used to it. I was always white knuckled and nervous when it was icy on the roads.

Cheryl, Hereís to a quick recovery for you and DH. Take care of yourselves.

Nicole, Happy anniversary. Hope you had a chance to recuperate some this weekend. Sounds like you have some interesting classes lined up this session.

Emily, I hope you can get back on track soon. Changes in my routine really knock me off course.

Erin, The first few days of no sugar were hard for me, but once I got it out of my system, it wasnít a constant battle. Now Iím one of those weird people who thinks things are too sweet now.

I've been on plan all week and the scales have dropped two pounds recently. :carrot: My sweet spot, calorie wise, right now is around 1600 per day. I lose more consistenly at that level than I do at the 1700/1800 range I prefer to eat at. I enter my foods into fitday at the end of the day, instead of planning it from the beginning of the day. That means that I don't always know how many calories I ate until I'm finished eating. Backwards, of course.

I hope everyone has a great, on plan week.

01-14-2007, 10:35 AM
Hey girls sorry I haven't checked in for a while but we are on our 3rd day of an ice storm and I have kept the computer turned off in case the electricity goes out. The storm started Friday morning with freezing rain and sleet and continued into last night. We are having a bit of a break right now but it is supposed to move back in here in a couple of hours and be worse than it has been.

I ate lots of sodium filled foods yesterday and the scales are back up to 221 this morning but I am also swollen like an overfilled balloon. I did fit in a work out yesterday and my muscles are sore so I am hoping the gain is all water and maybe my muscles are holding some fluid also.

I guess I had better get this computer turned back off before the storm starts again. I sure hope our electricity doesn't go out.

01-14-2007, 12:29 PM
Morning, Ladies

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. I didn't get up to too much on Saturday.. did a bit of studying, grocery shopping and watched a couple of movies. Today probably won't be much different as I have a report to complete :book2:

Tina and Robsia congrats on your loss .. YAHOO !!

Linda, glad to hear that you are spending time with buddy and the frog, again :)

In LA, 5 lbs in your first week that is good news. Yes, it will slow down but that is a great start :D

Leygh, good for you for learning different languages. I took French throughout school...although I find if you don't lose it you tend to forget most of it...or at least I have !

Tammy, 2 lbs congrats !! You will be in onederland before you know it :)

Robbin, brrr an ice storm that sounds nasty. The weather here is still chilly but I can't complain as this is very rare for us.

Well I best get a move on. Have a good one and keep on keeping on

01-14-2007, 02:40 PM
gosh i forget to check in for a couple of days and theres so much to catch up on, will have to pop back later to read properly.
havnt had time for a workout but still on track with food. its weigh in tomorow morning but i dont feel like iv lost anything this week. fingers crossed i see a loss on that scale cos when the scale stops moving i lose motivation.
be back later xx

01-14-2007, 03:40 PM
Jtammy- yeah my dad is in the military, this is my second time living in germany, i lived here back in elementary school. i've never lived anymore for more then 2 years. one time it was 3 years, but i'm always moving. im on my second year now and my dad is trying to stay here so i can stay at 1 high school the whole time

louie-german isnt really hard, but it is harder then spanish. i think because i here spanish so often back in the states its easier to pick up and remember. alot of my friends are german so i still remember things.

01-14-2007, 03:49 PM
Oh wow, Sunday already . . .

Don't blink too quickly or you're probably going to miss me as I whiz by at the speed of ? . . . well something that whizzes by. :D

Have a great rest of the weekend, gang . . . I will see you again soon and promise to actually settle down on the ground for a few minutes, just as soon as I get a chance. Keep on moving and shaking. :carrot:

01-15-2007, 04:41 AM
good morning gals, well i was right nothing lost this week :(

01-15-2007, 11:35 AM
Hey Liza don't let the scales get you down. After being stuck indoors all weekend due to the Ice Storm I went up 4 pounds YUCK I guess I am gonna have to move my Ticker up soon to reality cause I does not look like I am gong to get back to it any time soon. Today I am PMSing sooooo bad I could eat the paint off the walls. I want Nacho's.

01-15-2007, 12:39 PM
thanks robbin, i know i shouldnt but its hard not to, iv eaten tiny amounts of boring healthy food ok i had 1 slip but iv exercised most days i should have lost something, just a pound would have kept me on track but when the scales says the same number after a week of hard work i cant help thinking whats the point:(
oh well will have to make sure there are no slips this week and if i dont lose somethin next week i will be having some serious words with that scale demon:devil:

01-15-2007, 12:54 PM
Liza, I'm sorry for your non-loss. It makes me sad not just for you, but because I know I have those days coming and I so don't look forward to them! :( It's so discouraging, but keep on something really outrageous to jumpstart your body back into gear. Have a soup-only day or something like that. It sounds yuck, but when you get to the other side, won't it be sooo worth it??

Well, looks like Louisiana is going to come away from the "Big Ice Storm of '07" with a cold rain...again! They get our hopes all up for some winter precip and we always get a cold and nasty rain. I'm beginning to wonder if my children will ever see snow without having to travel many miles to see it...snow in our very own yard that they can go out and play in. Good thing is we're not stuck indoors with no power....'cause I'd be eatin' my way to warmer temperatures. And that'd be a very bad thing.
Tammy , it's nice to meet you...another snowless one! :-D Amazing that you've lost 134 lbs!! You should post before and afters for us all to see.....or maybe you already have and I just haven't seen them because I just re-joined?? LOL How long's it taken you to lose it and WHAT have kept you so motivated? And how have you done it?? Just counting calories? I hope you've done nice things along the way for yourself in honor of your amazing achievements! You certainly more than deserve it!

Well, ladies.....I must go brave the ice storm we didn't get. My son wants to go visit Dad at work! I have to tell one funny thing....yesterday after church (when we were SUPPOSED to be having an ice storm) it was 72 degrees outside and we came home and all dressed in jeans and tee shirts and went mud riding on the four wheelers. My husband and I were riding along, both soaked from the rain and mud, laughing about going riding in our 70 degree ice storm. I guess it's not as funny written down as it was yesterday when we were discussing it! LOL :-D

Have a great week ladies! I wish you all lots of losses!!! :)

01-15-2007, 01:32 PM
Good girls! Another monday of fresh beginnings after some weekend mishaps. I was down to 213 on saturday, but hubbys christmas dinner from work was lastnight. To make matters worse, it wasn't till 8 PM! (I always have dinner at 5 and my cutoff is 7 if I want a little snack afterwards) And of course we didn't get anything to eat till 8.30. So by that time I was absolutely starving. I devoured 3 palm sized servings of prime rib, ate about 2lbs. of veggies and to top it off...I had a slice of cake. I was so full it hurt! And whoever said not to eat before bedtime sure got all their apples in line. I'm exhausted today. I had insomnia, thirst, I barely slept. So to put the cherry on top of all of that..the scales were at 215.5. You might think may aswell eat the cherry huh?! LOL! But I didn't...I did another totally great workout with my sculpting dvd and 20 mins elliptical. I feel so much better and believe I can obliterate those pounds soon enough!

Liza, don't get discouraged. I know those words are easier said than accomplished. Remember, if you keep doing the right things, the weight WILL come off. Would you mind sharing your game plan...maybe one of us can make some suggestions. Like what is your caloric intake, do you track them?

Robsia, you betcha! Just keep doing what you know works. Your body will give in sooner or later. Don't dwell on the past you cannot change, think about what actions you can do to change your future!

Nicole, dare I ask what un-schooling is? LOL! Hope you're keeping up well with your now hectic schedule. How was the belly-dancing workout. I think that would be fun!

Cheryl, sorry to hear you and hubby are under the weather. Nothing like throwing a wrench in your spokes. Hope you both are feeling much better by now.

Linda, nice to know the meds are outta your system and you're able to get back to your life as you knew it. I skimmed the website but I'll have to take some time to really look at it. Seems really interesting and motivating.

Louie, the weather is on my side again. It's +4 today with lots of sunshine! Phew! Blizzards are not fun at all! How about your weather?

Diane, congrats on staying on program and that amazing loss! I think having hubby on board is a big support. I'm so happy for you. Keep up that amazing will power!

Leygh, I'd like to think I'm making up for my endulgences today...hehehe! I would imagine you are in an English speaking school. the time you're ready to move out on your own and live'll have a few languages under your belt.

Tammy, I agree..since losing weight it's harder to keep warm. But as my hubby puts it...I'm always cold. -33 isn't that bad because you just stay inside! LOL! Thank God it didn't last that long. Congrats to you for your losses! Wow, 212 that's incrediable!

Robbin, wow...that storm you had sounded bad. Glad you are able to immerge today. It's monday, put the weekend behind you and begin working on what you can make out of this week. I hope you're able to find a healthier substitute for your nacho craving.

I gotta get out of my workout clothes back into some civalizational ones to go pick up my daughter at school. Hope you're having an amazing day!

01-15-2007, 03:08 PM
Afternoon Ladies, Just a quick pop-in for now. Feeling much better, but not weighing till next week since I haven't been eating like I should since being sick.
Congrats to all you ladies that had a loss. That's SUPER!!!! For those of you having to deal with the freezing rain/miserable weather, here's hoping for warmer weather this week. We have been hit with the cold Canadian air since last Monday, so we are dealing with -30 to -40 below with the wind chill. It's suppose to warm up to 25 on Wednesday. Yippie!!! Have a good day.:carrot:

01-15-2007, 03:13 PM
Hello ladies,
Sorry I have not been around in a while. Wishing you all a very healthy and happy 2007 and much success with your weight loss journeys. I will try to catch up on all the recent posts. I am doing great, put myself back on bootcamp to start the year with a bang, and so far so good! I am at the doorsteps of onderland! Take care everyone and best wishes!

01-15-2007, 05:24 PM
diane, the mud riding sounds like fun! i quite often do things like a soup only day so it doesnt sound yuck at all.

tina, im not following a plan just reducing food intake and exercising. if i added up my calories it would be under a thousand per day so i should be losing.

tammy, wow you've lost an amazing amount how long did it take you to lose all that. i would love to see some before and after pics i could do with some motivation!

cheryl, glad you are feeling better.

nicole, iv been home educating my son for a year and a half now. not having to do the school run in bad weather is a great perk!!

well iv been really bad food wise today and havnt exercised. but im allowing myself an off day after this mornings disappointment, will be back on track tomorow!

01-15-2007, 05:34 PM
LIZA!! My dear, under 1000 calories is way to low!! You're body will start a starvation mode and will hang onto anything you give it rather than burn it. Your metabolism will lower and it will become harder for you to win this battle. Remember this journey is about becoming a healthier mom for your son. You must eat a healthy well balanced diet. If you'd like an idea of what you should eat for an average/healthy weight loss go to startyourdiet dot com. Fill out there analysis and go from there. I'm at 1466 cals per day which I've been sticking this past week. It seems to be pretty good. You gotta ask yourself under a 1000 cals a day something you think you could live like for the rest of your life? Probably not because you'll be too hungry and more inclined to binge. Please take this advice into consideration, I'm only trying to help you out in the long run...hopefully a lifetime.

01-15-2007, 05:37 PM
Hi girls . . . Our weather has taken a decided turn for awful and it's supposed to be staying that way for a couple more days. :(

Afraid I'm just not in the mood to talk much tonight. Just got back from the GYN appointment and I'm a little bummed out. He doesn't think there is anything really awful going on, but I have to have a D & C a week Friday . . . in other words we are still doing exploratory stuff. Hopefully I'll be in better humour tomorrow.

Have a good evening of doing the good stuff. See you soon. :carrot: Afraid Mr. Carrot is feeling a lot bouncy than I am. :^:

01-15-2007, 06:24 PM
thanks for the link tina, i checked out the site and it says i should be having 1407calories. will try it that way and see if it works!

01-15-2007, 07:07 PM
Hi everyone. This looks like a good thread with a lot of great info.
Is it okay if I post here.

01-15-2007, 09:28 PM
Well everyone, I'm a bit nervous. Tomorrow is the big WW weigh in day. I know I'll show a loss....that's not the issue. I'm afraid because meeting time isn't until 6 pm!! That gives me a whole day to starve myself so I can have a really good weigh in! lol I don't want to starve myself because if I do I know that the first meeting I go to "unstarved" will not show probably any loss at all. But I sooo want the scales to show a 5 lb loss...Today I've had 9 of my 28 points. I've been under my target points everyday except one, I think. They say that's bad, but how can it be? It just means I'm eating fewer calories. I'm having all my "normal bodily functions." Seems to me it shouldn't be an issue...but they say it is. Oh well, I view it like long as there is a loss and I feel good, have plenty of energy, and my body's working "correctly," I'm not going to stress over points. As long as I don't go over my daily target. I wish I could just stay too busy to eat too much. lol I guess if we did that, we wouldn't be here, huh?

01-15-2007, 10:16 PM
Hi Gals

Just a fly by for me tonight... I have been on training all day and then just spent the last 1.5 hours working on a report. My brain is dead :D

So I will just say congrats to the losers, good luck to those of you who have a WI tomorrow, hang in there for those of us maintaining and keep on keeping on to everyone else (i think that about covers it all !!)

Take care and TTYS  oh oh oh before I forget, the scale was down 1.6 for me this !

01-16-2007, 12:38 AM
hey everyone :)
I feel better than I did all last week just having a good day under my belt so to speak. I did a good 30 minute (mostly) run on the treadmill and a brisk 30 minute walk tonight helping my son deliver notepads from a local realtor. I think it's going to take 2-3 weeks to undo my holiday damage, but c'est la vie I guess :)
take care and good night.

01-16-2007, 02:46 PM
Afternoon ladies! Just getting home from water aerobics and feeling good. Today was actually the first day that every muscle group felt sore. Sometimes I feel the instructor spends a little more time on certain areas than total body. But today was certainly a shared workout for all muscle groups. Woo! Scales came down 1/2lb., I'll defeat Sundays late night dinner sooner or later!

Cheryl, so glad you're feeling better. How is eating upside-down coming along? or are you going to ease back into it since being sick.

Kreen, nice to see you again! I so envy where you're at right now. I'd love to be at those door steps. I gotta work extra hard to get there faster..hehehe! Congrats on getting back into the groove!

Liza, I think when I first started to lose my calories were at 1500-1600 per day. I'm surprised that you got 1400 to start with. I guess 1400 is a lot better than under 1000. When your body starts to adjust to your new routines then you jog around your calories.

Linda, I'm enjoying our weather in the near pluses. Sorry to hear that you're getting not so nice weather. My mother went through years of biopsies and test before they finally gave in a gave her an hysterectomy. I know the anguish it causes, hang in there! From what my mom has gone through having a hysterectomy isn't all that it's cracked up to be either. Especially if they take your ovaries.

Hi Ann, welcome to the group! Just jump right in and make yourself at home. Congrats on your great loss so far! How are you doing it? What is your game plan?

Diane, have a great weigh in today! Looking forward to hearing the results!

Hi Louie! Hope your brain has been revived today. Congratulations on your loss! Weigh to go!

Emily, sounds like you had a good work out yesterday. Great going!

Well, I should start thinking about lunch. Have an awesome day ladies! Here's to happiness and healthiness!

01-16-2007, 05:04 PM
Afternoon Ladies...Hope you all are having a teriffic day and are staying warm.

Ann...So nice to have you join us. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Linda...So sorry you are having medical problems. Hope the D & C takes care of your problems and you don't have to have additional surgery.

Tina...Yippie for you 1/2 pound loss and great job working out in the water. I wish I lived closer to town so I could do water arobics daily. I'm going mall walking with a couple of my friends tomorrow before we go to weight Watchers.
Still too cold to go walking out doors, but we may see above zero tomorrow. Don't know if I will get back into my upside down eating or not. I'm basically eating what I feel like eating at each meal and watching my points/calories. I'm trying to stay at 1500 calories/24 points a day.

Diane...Hope you had a teriffic weigh-in today! Can't wait to hear your results.:carrot:

Liza...I agree with Tina, 1000 is way too low and loosing at that amount will only have you put the weight back on once you reach goal. I lost 80 pounds about 20 years ago eating 1000-900 calories a day, but it didn't take me long once I reached goal weight to put the 80 pounds and then some more back on. Your body is like engine, you need to feed it to make it work properly.

Emily...Another one with a great workout. I'm sure your son enjoyed having you help him out.

Louie...Congrats on the loss this week. :carrot:

Kreen...How wonderful for you to be at the door step to onederland. Great job getting on your bootcamp workout

Well gals, my Hubby just woke up and he wants the computer, so have a great afternoon.

01-16-2007, 05:57 PM
Yep, I'm still here, and yep, the weather is just as bad as they said it would be. Wow, it is UGLY. Took my friend up to a hospital appointment today and just made it back before the latest storm (or maybe it is just a continuation of yesterday - not sure. :dizzy:

CHERYL . . . Glad to hear you are feeling better. Sounds like a good plan - whatever direction you go in. :)

TINA . . . Wonderful water workout, chickie. Sure sounds like it's working. :)

EMILY . . . Another great worker-outer. Gee, I feel like a slug, although I have been bouncing with Buddy and the Frog. ;)

LOUIE . . . Congrats on the loss. Obviously the training is helping you to keep working on something besides your brain. :)

DIANE . . . Don't you get yourself into the habit of under-eating. Just because it feels okay in the short term, it's the long term that matters. WW picks those point levels for good, solid reasons. :)

ANNE . . . Welcome to our group. Of course, it's okay! We love all the company we can get. Hope to be seeing a lot less of you, a lot more often, now that you've found us. ;)

LIZA . . . So, so, so glad you've decided to up your calories. In the long run, your body will thank you. If you drop things too low, you definitely create problems later. :)

KREEN . . . Glad to see you in the group, too. ONDERLAND is my goal for 2007. You will be there in no time, lucky girl. :)

Well, I'd better get about my business. think I'll have some tea to tide me over until dinner time (and warm me up a little, too). You all have a great moving and shaking evening and I'll type to you again soon. :carrot:

01-16-2007, 06:19 PM
thanks for the advice guys, guess i just wanna see fast results but you're right i need to realistically be able to stick to it or in the long run its not gonna work. :o

01-16-2007, 10:06 PM
 Just a flyby here tonight. I'm drowning in all the reading I have to do for class.

01-16-2007, 10:11 PM
Good Evening, Friends

We had a little bit of snow again last night, but that was quickly followed up with some warmer temperatures and rain... so I think what little bit of snow we have will be gone within the next few days. Roll on spring !!!

Ann, welcome to the group... just jump right in !!

Tina - not sure if my brain is too revived yet. I have training for another few days this week, so will be looking forward to the weekend. Your water aerobics class sounds like a great workout !

Cheryl - good to see and good luck with your WI

Linda - another storm..uck !! Hopefully the weather turns around for you soon. I looked up Crazy Frog on yahoo music today, "he" has lots of songs and they are all so up beat. I can see how you and buddy enjoy it !

Liza - we all want to see fast results, but believe me you only want to lose the pounds once :D

InLA - how did your WI go .. I know you probably did awesome

To all the other gals I hope you are taking care and keeping warm

Well I best skedaddle and get me some dinner. I had lunch out today so don't feel like too much but know I need to eat a little something, so a forging I will go. Talk to you tomorrow

01-16-2007, 10:50 PM
Just a quickie to let everyone know my total weight loss for the week was (Drum roll, please!!).......6.6 lbs! My goal for next week is 3.4 to put me at an even 10 lbs!! We celebrated with somewhat of a big dinner. I'd had hardly any points today....saving up for the evening. I"m sure I used some flex points. Not sure how many, but I rarely use them...even when on WW before, so I'm not going to stress. Just back to the grindstone tomorrow.

Congrats to everyone else who had a rockin' day too! I think I'll have encouraging words for WW leader's words, actually. Wanna share, but will have to wait til in the am!

01-17-2007, 10:21 AM
Hey chickie's another fly by for me but hopefully I will be able to get back at lunch. Sorry I was not here yesterday but I had some military things to take care of and was not around a computer all day. I also was not on plan for lunch and had Burger King but the scales are back down to 221 today so maybe I am back on my way to loosing again. I only have 1 more week to go to get back to ticker before I have to change it to the weight the scales show so I have to get on track. I don't want to have to go up more than 1 or 2 pounds and as of right now I am 6 pounds above it.

Well gotta run

01-17-2007, 10:29 AM
Hey . . . the FFM is really trying to cheer me up . . . she took away 3 lbs this morning . . . just about the biggest week's loss since the beginning of last year. :goodscale Now, if the weather would just cooperate a little. Another UGLY day out there. Snowing and blowing to beat the band.

LIZA . . . . . . Good girl. We all want it gone, yesterday. A little slower is usually a lot more lasting, though. Remember that the tortoise was the one that won the race. :D

NICOLE . . .. . . Just :club: those books into submission, girl. You'll make us all proud.

LOUIE . . . . . . We are having more than a little. Knew it had to come, though. Yep, Buddy and I love that Frog. :lol3:

DIANE . . . . . . Wowee, Wowee, Wow, Wow . . . that is absolutely fantastic. :D How did DH do? What about MIL . . . :s: . . . bet she'd be impressed (and probably jealous, too.)

ROBBIN . . . . . . Get a good week under your belt and you'll be so much closer. You can do it, chickie. :)

Well, guess I'd better get bundled up and put the garbage out. Really don't want to do it because it is so awful out there, but we only get garbage pickup once every two weeks and I don't want to have to save it for another two weeks.

Have a great moving and shaking day of heading in the great downward direction, gang. See you soon. :carrot:

01-17-2007, 01:41 PM
Thanks, ya'll!! :) I think MIL isn't even going to meetings now. Makes me feel kinda bad, I guess. She'd be going if I'd gone with her. :(

I really wanted to share what my WW leader shared with us last night....It's kinda common sense stuff, but when you hear it....the light bulb kinda blinks on and you say to yourself, "DUH!"

She just talked about sticking with it and how the plateaus won't last forever. She prompted us all to think of things (hard things) we've stuck with before and how when you compare those things to our own very health, some of the things we've stuck with are so trivial, so why are we not sticking with making ourselves healthy? How much more important is our very life than, say, school (no offense to those ofyou in IS important...I'm not saying that). But yet we neglect ourselves for school, when in fact, if we die from obesity-related illness, our school (which was important enough to stick with) will be useless. I don't know if I'm making the point as well as she did, but it just made me really stop and think. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that for those of you who've hit plateaus (I know my own are coming), stick with it....fight for it....fight for your life! Nothing you are doing is more important than your own very life. Make your health your priority!

Stick to it, ya'll! Each of you are worth all are important and God loves each of you! He wants us all happy and healthy, but we have the free will to make that happen or not. Let's do it!!

**Someone please remind me of this very post when I get discouraged....Hopefully it will encourage me again later like it did last night! lol **

Talk to you all later!

01-17-2007, 02:41 PM
Linda - 3 pounds YAY for you. You go Girl:carrot: . You have worked so hard and I am so proud of you.

Diane - I really appreciate your post. It really makes alot of sense and has given me hope for motivation.

Yummy salad for lunch, not sure what dinner will be.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

01-17-2007, 09:20 PM
Just a quick pop-in for tonight. Had my weigh in at WW, and I was down 1.6 lbs. I'm totally happy about this.:carrot: :carrot:

Diane...We also got a similar speach from out leader today. She put it this way. We spend years learning to read, play an instrument, get a High School diploma or college degree, but when it comes to our weight, we expect it to be gone like yesterday. All things worth having will take time and effort to achive. And yes, the light bulb went off in my head. Diane, I have also cut my points back to 30. I'm suppose to use 36, but I was seeing the scales go UP instead of down. I also do not use my extra 35 points, but know that they are there if I have a splurg.

Linda...Yippie for the fairy fat mother visiting you. It was so nice of her to take three pounds from you.

Robbin...Hope you see those last few pounds gone over the weekend and you are back to ticker weight. I had to correct my ticker for all the holiday eating I did. I have loss 10 lbs in three weeks, so I'm diffently back on track.

Had a teriffic day and got my walk in at the mall with my friends. Going to do it every Wednesday.

Till later,

Hi Ladies,

I hope you are all doing well.

Robbin, Has the ice storm affected you? I hope the scales start going down for you soon, so you don’t have to adjust the ticker.

Liza, Upping your calories was a good move. 1000 calories is far too low, I don’t think many people could eat at that low level for very long without getting so hungry that they go off plan. I really think you would find that you would lose pretty well at 1700/1800 calories per day. I was able to eat that many until I got down to the 230s, then I had to bring it down to 1500/1600 to continue to lose much.

Losing in LA, Thanks! So far it’s taken about 17 months to lose what I’ve lost so far. I guess what has kept me motivated is just seeing the scales lower. I started out doing Suzanne Somer’s diet from her books. I’ve tweaked it some to add things that I couldn’t live without, and started counting calories. I don’t eat sugar, HFCS, white flour, white potatoes or white rice, and I do eat lots of protein and fruits and vegetables, some whole grains. Congratulations for your fantastic loss this week.

Tina, Just when you think Christmas is over, there’s one more dinner. Glad to hear that the scales are moving down for you.

Cheryl, Glad you’re feeling better. Congrats on losing!

Kreen, Congratulations on being so close to the 100s. You just keep on going!

Linda, I hope the D & C helps the problems that you are having. Congratulations on your wonderful loss this week. :goodscales:

Ann, Welcome to the thread. Feel free to jump right in,

Louie, Congrats on your loss -1.6 :cb:

Hi to everyone I missed.

No change for me on the scales yet this week. I’m having a hard time this week being motivated. I’m still on plan, but I’m once again thinking about going into maintenance mode. I’m trying to hold out until I hit onederland, but I may or may not make it. I haven’t exercised since Monday, which is very unusual for me, and I am already dreading getting up early enough to exercise tomorrow, but I HAVE to get back on track with my exercise tomorrow. I’m commiting to you guys that I will walk at least two miles tomorrow morning.

Have a great week.

01-17-2007, 11:51 PM
Good evening ladies! I had a really good day as far as cloud nine goes....scales are back/close to ticker today...212.5!!! I was so excited! :carrot: I really wanna finally stake this weight and move on...seems I always get this far and somehow screw myself back up a couple of pounds. Not this time, I totally feel my groove really jiving. I want reach the 210's so bad I can taste it, not to mention the fabulous ONE-derland that's right behind it. I hope you all had a good day, this post comes later than usual. I had a day full with not much free "me" time.

Cheryl, congrats on the unexpected loss. A surprise is always so motivating and exciting. How did your mall walking go? What a great idea to walk the mall and visit with friends in an environment that "I" personally love...hehehe!

Linda, congrats on your loss! Seems the FFM is making her rounds more steadily around here.

Liza, how ya doing? Haven't many details from you lately. Still doing treadmill and situps? I'm glad you decided to adjust your caloric intake. It's takes some getting used to (this new lifestyle) but you'll soon know all the ins and outs and what works for you best.

Nicole, wow, try to keep your head above the notebooks!

Louie, I hear ya sista! Roll on spring! I can't wait to stop having to bundle up Alyssa and myself. It's so time consuming, not to mention restricting at times. Oh for the day to slip on some sandals and just GO!

Diana, about an amazing loss! How motivating is that! Not to mention what your leader was saying. It rang so true to me aswell, thanks for sharing. Congrats girl!

Robbin, come on can wrap this up! I'm rootin' for ya to have to NOT change that ticker much, if at all next week. What a great challenge to give yourself. Go Robbin! Go Robbin!

Tammy, we're exactly the same weight. Come on girl..I wanna cross that onederland line with somebody. You can do this, you will find your power to keep trudging. Going into maintenance is hard to get out of. At least I know this was true for me. After seeing the scale not move for weeks I lost my oomph to really put in the effort needed. After seeing the same weight since July/August...I'm so ready to get back into this whole heartedly and cross that line finally.

Well ladies have a great night and I'll see you in the A.M. right after my water aerobics class.

01-18-2007, 01:50 AM
Hey everyone- hope you had a great day. It snowed here pretty much all day so I got some extra exercise in by having to shovel twice. (and dh shoveled once before work!) I also tried Dance Dance Revolution for the first time as a workout. I've played around with it with the kids, but never for more than a few minutes. I did 40 minutes today and it was so fun! Nice change from the treadmill. Dh had a co-worker give him an xbox and I found the pad and game used. It's fun.
I've been back on track eating-wise this week...things are good. I have to go to Calgary tomorrow to pick up a friend from the airport and have decided to treat myself to a yummy lunch. I'll be "mostly" on track for the day...I'll probably just end up getting something at the mall.
Sorry, I haven't done personals for awhile.
Tina and Tammy- lets all get to 199 together!! We are all so close.
Well, better get to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

01-18-2007, 07:53 AM
Howdy girls!!!:carrot:

I'll tell you stay gone a little while and there is too much too catch up on!!! Glad to see things so active, but way more than i have time to read back over and still get to post so no personals today. But WOW sounds like there have been some great losses and some awesome thoughts rolling around this place. There is a really positive vibe right now and that is so wonderful to be a part of!

Unfortunately, i am stuck in plateau **** right now and have acutally gone up a little more. I am having to have some tests run and other things done in the next 2 mos so i am distracted to say the lest but I am really fighting the urge to throw in the towel. Seeing all the encouragement here really helps. Biggest thing right now is i know i have got to stop blaming everything but me and my choices.

Well gotta run ladies and get lunch packed and Amelia off to school. Hey all you guys with the snow, want to send a little my way?? I miss it so much! Have a good one! Erin

01-18-2007, 08:13 AM
tina, didnt wanna bore people with how many situps/minutes/reps was doing every day.
still on track have upped my calories to about 1500, got a new workout dvd which arrived in post this morning so gonna give that a go this evening, didnt do any exercise yesterday as had to go and have bloods taken in the morning and was feeling a little faint.
we've got severe weather warning here today with 80mph winds, just about to go out so hope my little boys feet manage to stay on the ground lol!!

01-18-2007, 08:57 AM
Just another fly-by from me. I ordered my books online to save money (I saved almost $300!), but that meant starting off behind. *sigh* I added it up and had about 400 pages to read this week in 5 classes. At least I can see the light at the end now. Course I have to fit getting my house party ready for my daughter's party on Sunday, and I won't be home at all Saturday because we're driving a couple of hours away to get my "new" car. AF must be one her way. The scale jumped back up 2 lbs this morning. :(

01-18-2007, 10:56 AM
Morning, Gals

Didn't make it here yesterday, so before I scoot off to work I just wanted to drop in and say hello. I will be back later for personals.

Have a great day

01-18-2007, 05:33 PM
just tried out the dvd and i lasted about 3minutes :o theres loads of jumping and stuff that theres no way this 280 pound whale can do :(
will have to stick to the treadmill for a bit longer i think, walking i can just about manage, anything more difficult than that, no thanks!!

01-18-2007, 05:47 PM
Afternoon! How are all you fine "losers" doing today? I hope well of course! I'm having a pretty good day so far. Everything in line and exercise is completed for the day...just working keeping my fingers busy and gulping the water.

Emily, how are your arms today after all that shoveling? I know when I have to do it my shoulders are so soar that I can't lift a thing! I would love to try a dance workout but like I said before I'm not very co-ordinated. By the way, say hi to my brother for me as you go through Calgary! And I would love to get to 199 with a group of us!

Erin, I'm so glad you've been fighting the urge to quit. We need ya girl! You can beat this plateau. Keep posting often, as you say..this place is very encouraging and motivating..take advantage girl! I hope all is well with you and your tests are not that serious.

Liza, the simple task of posting our accomplishments we make throughout each day is very good to our weight loss egos. Having something positive to post is great, it makes us strive each day to keep it up so we can share. I'm sure none of us mind, in fact it's motivating! What kind of workout dvd did you get?

Nicole, that's a heck of a savings and a heck of a lot of reading! I'm glad too that you're seeing the light at the end. Have a fun weekend! A new car is always exciting.

Louie, Hey girl! Have a great day!

What's everyone having for dinner tonight? I'm having pork loin chops in a zesty lemon/rosemary sauce. Not sure whats for a side yet...salad for sure as one!

01-18-2007, 06:19 PM
Hi Gang . . .

Afraid I'm having something of an upside down and backward day. Woke up in the wee hours and puddled around because I couldn't get back to sleep. Finally conked out again about 8:30 am and slept for four hours. Had to rush out for a few hours this afternoon and just got back. It's a lot warmer than yesterday, but still -20C (-4F) and windy. At least the sun was out. Of course, usually by this time of year we are calling this :beach: weather, but not this weird year. Hey, at least it's strange all over so I don't feel alone in the weirdness. :dizzy:

ROBBIN . . . . . . Keep on doing the good stuff girl. You can make it pay.

DIANNE . . . . . . We all guide our own lives. Think of yourself not your MIL. BTW, I copied your WW words into Word for safe keeping. Never fear, I can hit you with it if needed. :)

CHERYL . . . . . . Congrats on the loss. Your leader is on-track too. Nothing worth having comes easy. If it did, we probably wouldn't want it anymore anyway.

TAMMY . . . . . . I know I've said it before, but it is definitely worth repeating. You have done so well. You are an inspiration to all of us. Hang in there, girl. Make "199" your mantra. You'll be there in no time. :)

TINA . . . . . . Fantastic . . . so happy to see that number coming down so wonderfully for you. Want to hear you joining in on that "199" chant, darlin'. :)

EMILY . . . . . . Lots of great exercise. Everytime you heave that shovel, scream "199". Wow, it is getting noisy in here. Keep it up, baby. :)

ERIN . . . . . . Hang in there, our numbers will be just a little longer in reaching that wonderful new century . . . but it will come. :)

NICOLE . . . . . . Keep reading, keep reading, keep reading and soon you will be all caught up and able to enjoy all the money you saved. :book2:

LOUIE . . . . . . Have a great day. See you later. :)

LIZA . . . . . . Never you fear, chickie, you will get there. I hve lots of DVD's that I feel that way about . . . someday, I'll wonder why I thought they were so difficult and so will you. :)

Well, it's about dinner time (even though it kind of feels more like lunch to me). Hope I get to sleep at a reasonable time tonight . . . it's those terrible wide-awake in the middle of the night sessions that cause me to get to feeling really nibbly . . . bad, bad, bad. So here's a triple dose of :dust: :dust: :dust: I'm really going to need it and I'm willing to share with anyone else in need of the extra little :kickbutt: too. Have a great moving and shaking evening, girls . . . see you later. :carrot:

01-19-2007, 11:11 AM
Hey chickies, I gotta make this quick but I did want to fit in a few personals.

Tammy Ė We did get hit by the ice storm, we ended up with about 2 Ĺ inches of solid ice. We are also supposed to get 5 Ė 9 inches of snow this weekend. YUCK! You are so close to Onderland and I know you can do it. Go Tammy, Go TammyÖÖÖÖ..

Cheryl Ė Congrats on the 1.6 gone forever. Please send that fairy fat mother my way.

Tina Ė Congrats on getting back to ticker. I am determine to get back to mine and then try to catch you.

Emily Ė I have been thinking about getting a dance pad for our play station but was not sure about how much exercise it would be. Do you feel like it was a good work out?

Erin Ė I hear you about the plateau I am stuck to but I think it is from lack of trying. Come on girl lets kick this in the rump.

Nicole Ė sorry to hear about the scale jump but you know you can kick it to the curb. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Louie Ė Nice to see a fly by from you also.

Liza Ė Ok so you lasted 3 minutes, that is 3 minutes longer than nothing right? Tomorrow try for 4 minutes and the next day 5 minutes. Before you know it you will have the whole DVD done.

Linda Ė sorry to hear about the sleep problems. I get in to those ruts sometimes where I donít sleep right and it really can mess you up. Thanks for the will power dust I know I can use it.

Well girls I have been totally on track for the past two days and that includes exercise. I feel like maybe I am getting my groove back. The scales are at 221 this morning but I think some of it is due to sore muscles holding fluid from the exercise.

Well I guess I had better get to work. But I want to leave you all with this tid bit of information I found yesterday.

The Capsaicin in chile peppers increases calorie burning by up to 62% for more than 20 minutes after consumption. Adding chile peppers in the form of hot sauce (Tabasco) to a healthy diet can help you loose up to a pound a week.

01-19-2007, 11:18 AM
Leygh, I'd like to think I'm making up for my endulgences today...hehehe! I would imagine you are in an English speaking school. the time you're ready to move out on your own and live'll have a few languages under your belt.

Yes, I go to an american high school. I live 45mins from it, so I have to get up early just so I dont miss the bus. Exams are this coming monday and I'm so ready for the week to pass. I check all my grades today and I dont have any Cs! Haha I'm happy, I honestly didnt push myself b/c I've been working on other things, so I managed to but some last minute stuff in. All As and Bs!
I plan on learning spanish fluently and taking it in college, then after that I plan on learning Russian.

Well, I havent been able to make it to the gym, you guys heard about that horrible storm in europe? I got to be apart of that. Not enjoyable, but it got so bad that the school wanted to send us home early.I went from one class to the other and got completely soak.

Sorry I cant write more but I gotta go. Hope all is well with you guys!.

01-19-2007, 09:06 PM
Wow . . . just a really quick HELLO from me tonight . . . the storm is soooooo bad -- really heavy rain and really high winds -- I'm worried about the power going down at any minute.

Have a great evening, all, and hopefully I'll see you tomorrow. :carrot:

01-20-2007, 06:37 AM
its that time of the month so not feeling like exercising or eating healthily:(
hope the rest of you are doing ok!
luv n hugs

01-20-2007, 11:15 AM
Good Morning . . .

The roof is still attached to the top of my house; although there were a few times during the night that I might have thought differently. The wind is still howling, but definitely not as badly as last night and it has stopped precipitating for the moment. :D Actually, the sun is even popping out from time to time. Hope it keeps it up since I do have to go out for a few groceries -- cannot exist without the makings of the daily "big salad" ;)

Anyway, gang . . . keep things moving and shaking. If we keep on doing the good stuff just as much as we possibly can, we will be rewarded. See you soon. :carrot:

01-20-2007, 11:38 AM
Morning ladies,

I am once again back on track with my exercising, which makes me feel so much more in control. Thanks for all of the motivation you guys give me, youíre wonderful! The scales said 211 this morning, (well 211.8, but I never count the tenths). :cb: :cb:

Tina, Congrats for being back to ticker and falling. Oh I so understand the wanting to cross the onederland line. There are several of us pretty close to getting there, and I think itís a great idea to plan to do it with buddies.

Emily, You getting some great exercise with your snow shoveling and the DDR. Iím on board getting to 199 with you. Wonít it be great to see that on the scale.

Erin, Stay with us over the next 2 months even with all of the distractions. I hope your tests go well and arenít serious.

Liza, Walking is a great way to burn calories, so thereís no reason to not keep doing it until youíre ready for something else. Hope your weather has calmed down. The news reports here are talking about how deadly it has been.

Nicole, What a lot of reading to catch up on! It amazes me how much higher textbooks are now than when I was in college 20 years ago. (We thought they were high then!) It sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead.

Hi Louie

Linda, Thank you for saying ďIímĒ an inspiration. Itís hard for me to imagine that I could be, but I appreciate you saying it anyway. :) Yes, 199, 199, 199 is what I keep thinking lately. I hope you were able to sleep the entire night, although the storm probably didn't help. Middle of the night is when I feel nibbly too.

Robbin, Wow, 5 Ė 9 inches of snow? Is that unusual for you guys? I didnít think Oklahoma received much snow. Iím glad to hear that you are back on track with both food and exercise. That scale will start dropping anytime now.

Leygh, Good luck on your exams this week. I have heard about the storm there. Stay safe!

01-20-2007, 12:22 PM
Hi, Ladies

Wow, time has gotten away from me the past few days and I haven't made it here to post. So while I am enjoying my morning :coffee: I thought I best take a minute to check in.

Tammy ~ well done on getting back on track and getting the results on the scale ! Onederland her she comes !!

Linda ~ sounds like you are getting a real mixed bag of weather. Our snow is all gone now and blue skies today.

Liza ~ darn TOM  hope you enjoy your weekend !

Jordan ~ I hadn't heard about the storms in Europe.. some days I think I live under a rock. :p

Robbin ~ congrats on being back on track and getting that scale to move.. yahoo !!! Interesting fact about the chili peppers.. I guess it is time to spice up my life :chef:

Tina ~ how is my neighbor to the east doing ? Has mother nature given you a bit of a break from the snow ?

Nicole ~ good to see you fly-by, hope all is well with you and that you aren't stuck with your nose in your books still.

Erin ~ good to see you, hope you are doing well

Emily ~ oooh dance dance revolution sounds like lots of fun ! Hope you have gotten a break from the snow as well.

I hope I didn't miss anyone.. miss a day here and yikes takes you awhile to get caught up.

Hope you all have a great day and I will TTYS

01-20-2007, 12:41 PM
Sorry it's been a few days for me. I work allllllllll day on Thurs. and Fri. so I usually don't have much time for anything else. I'll usually be scarce those days. :(

Well, since Tuesday's weigh in I've had a pretty lousy week (thus far). Scales haven't budged a millimeter! I'm hoping it's just due to the awesome first week I had. I'm hoping I'm not at a plateau this quickly. I'm staying on target.....under, actually (which could possibly be my problem, although I feel like I'm eating PLENTY!!). I may use my "no weigh in" pass this week at WW, just to spare myself the discouragement. If they budge this week, I may be a pound. If I'm lucky!! I'm not discouraged yet, though.
I'm horrible with names, guys. That's why I'm not doing personals so much. I'm trying to still learn everyone's names. Right now, in order to do personals, I have to go from page to page to page. There's a lot I'd like to write to people, but I'm having trouble remembering who said what! lol I've been bad with names my whole adult life. :( No matter how hard I try.
Everyone who's close to onderland, I can hardly wait to be there with ya! I'm hoping by summer..........
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hey guys - well I'm down 2.2 lbs this week which I'm totally shocked by as I have done NO exercise this week! I did mean to but I've just been a lazy butt. So I really need to get cracking on this week to keep the weight loss going. Good news is I'm within 3 lbs of my pre-CHristmas weight, so not long to go now. My jeans are getting loose again.

01-22-2007, 10:35 AM
Hey ladies a quick fly by for me this morning. Weekend sucked scale wise. Saturday the scale bounced 219 to 220 which was good but Saturday night we went to some friends house and I ended up having about 5 margaritas which has left me holding tons of water and then yesterday TOM showed up and caused me to want to eat the paint off the walls. Today the scales are up to 224. UGH, where did my willpower go? I did exercise both Saturday and Sunday but a lot of good it did me.

Check back later, gotta get to work.

01-22-2007, 11:01 AM
Hi ladies...Just a quick fly by this morning. Had a busy weekend, it was my Hubby's long weekend off, so we had ton's of things to be done. I've done good with my eating, but it's been a stuggle. Aunt FLO showed up, and I'm like Robbin, I could eat the paint off the walls!!! Thank goodness I don't have any sweet or salty foods in the house, just healthy stuff. I'll try to check back later.

01-22-2007, 02:24 PM
lol i was too scared to weigh in this morning i feel loads heavier so must have gained a few lbs over the last few days :o

01-22-2007, 05:33 PM
Hello everybody . . . . . . looks like I'm just kind of passing through too. Spent way too much time at the hospital today, talking about things to do on Friday and having a bunch of pre-admission tests. At least I now know that I can expect to be out again on Friday after surgery -- supposedly in about 4 hours all told.

Wow it was cold out there . . . especially since it was still dark when I left home . . . but even when I was coming back and it was beautifully sunny. Actually, :o the temps are pretty much 'seasonal', but we are just not used to seasonal this year.

Glad to hear everybody is doing pretty good. Congratulations to all for any SV's or NSV's. Keep on moving and shaking and doing the good stuff, gang. See you soon. :carrot:

01-22-2007, 05:50 PM
Just another fly-by today, but I promise I'll get back to personals tomorrow. Saturday my mom came to watch the kiddies, and my husband I I drove down to GA (about 5 hours, each way), to get my new car. I now drive a 2000 Mazda MPV. Yup, I own a minivan. Ack! And I like it! Double Ack! the most kick-butt thing though is we paid cash. :) Then Sunday, we had my daughter's 2nd birthday party. My husband was sick last week, and now the rest of us have it. Fortunately, not nearly as bad, but it's really making me feel worse about my daughter weaning back in the fall. :( Af did show, which accounted for the scale jump. It's gone back down, plus an extra pound off. :) I'm only recoding my measurements once a month, so I'm not sure the inches lost, but I'm hoping for an early spring. My jeans are getting too big, and if I'm buying new clothes, I'd like to be buying shorts and sundresses instead of jeans and sweaters. ;)

01-22-2007, 09:42 PM
i weighed and im not a happy bunny back up to 284 :(

01-22-2007, 11:46 PM
Hi Gals

Just a fly by from me. It has been a long day and I have an early start so going to try and relax for an hour and then head off to bed.

Hope everyone is doing well and I will make it back soon for a longer post

Hi NICOLE . . . . . . Sorry you are feeling sick. Congrats on the new vehicle (amazing how our tastes can change over the years, isn't it), and on getting rid of the extra pound as well as the WWW.

Hi LIZA . . . . . . Oh poor unhappy bunny. Just hang in there, girl, things will get moving in the right direction again soon. Tomorrow is my official WWI and unless a miracle occurs, I'll be joining your unhappy club. :(
BTW, here is another one to add to your list of PMS meanings -- Perpetual Male Stupidity.

Yep . . . I had a little melt-down last night (probably stressed about the up-coming surgery even though it is only a minor procedure). I devoured a whole litre (quart) of NSA frozen yogurt. It tasted like it was worth every calorie on the way down . . . but the gas from the Maltitol that kept waking me up all night was not quite so wonderful. :o Anyway, I've been a good little dobee so far today.

Hi LOUIE . . . . . . Keep those wings a flappin, girl and we'll see you when you get a chance to land.

Okay, chickadees, I'd better go get my salmon and "big" salad ready for dinner. Luckily, there's very little nasty stuff I can get into in the house. Of course, too much good stuff is still too much, so wish me luck. Here's a triple dose of :dust: :dust: :dust: to keep us heading in the right direction. Keep things moving and shaking and I'll see you later, gators. :carrot:

Hey girls! :) Last night was WW weigh in. Good news and bad news. Bad news was that my goal was to reach a 10 lb (total) loss. I'd lost 6.6 last week, was hoping for a 3.4 this week. The rest of the bad news is that I only lost 1.2 lb this week. The good news is that I lost 1.2 lbs....good because it was a loss instead of a gain! So my total loss is 7.8...I guess not too bad for a 2 week total. I wish it were 10, though. :( My goal is definitely 10 by next week. Surely I can do 2.2 this week. I'm really looking forward to buying new clothes a size SMALLER!!! Hopefully I'm only a few weeks from it! :) :) :)
It sounds like we're all kindof struggling this week. My WW leader says something to the effect of "well, it was fun putting it all on. It can't be fun taking it all back off, but it's worth it!!!! Let's get healthy!!" She talked about exercise this week (last night). I'm going to try to be more active, but I'm not doing an "exercise program." That's the thing I find to be the hardest. I cannot workout at home in my living room. It just doesn't motivate me. But it's impossible to go the the gym or rec center alone with a 22 month old and get anything done besides chasing her around. (Everyone I know works during the day and cannot watch her for me.) Not quite sure how I'm going to be able to get my exercise in, yet.

I'll be back later. Almost time to take my son to school....and have to stop for gas. :( BRRRRRRR!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day abundantly filled with blessings only God could give! He loves you each and every one!! :)

01-24-2007, 10:23 AM
Just a quick pop in for me I will try to get back soon for some personals. I have been on track with food and exercise this week so far and the scales are sitting at 223 and not wanting to budge. I have till Saturday to get them as low as I can before I have to move that stupid ticker up to the correct weight. UGH I hate the thought of going up instead of down but I gave myself 2 weeks to get back and I then have to move the ticker to the correct weight. I hope that when TOM is over I will see a drop.

Well gotta get to work, Check back later.

01-24-2007, 12:10 PM
Oh well . . . remember that three pounds I was raving about losing last week . . . two of them came back as of this morning. BOO / HISS  The human body is so much fun to work with. :( Now my week was definitely not as good as last week. My total calorie intake was 1400 higher; but 1400 calories does not 2 pounds make (not even 1/2 a pound), so hopefully it is mostly WWW and will go away soon. :^:

DIANE . . . . . . that is a great loss for two weeks and the current 1+ is nothing to sneeze at either. BTW, is it Diane or Dianne?

ROBBIN . . . . . . hopefully some of it is TOM. Good Luck on kicking the rest to the curb, too.

Have a great day, chickies . . . keep things moving and shaking. See you soon. :carrot:

Well girls where do it start?? Life is pretty weird right now. Had a little mental, spiritual and physical breakdown over the last week. 8 year anniversary of losing my twins and apparently haven't coped with it as well as i thought. (for those of you who haven't heard the story, i delivered twin girls Savannah and Victoria at 23 weeks gestation, they lived about 8 hours before they died) But thanks to wonderful friends and family and a gracious God i am getting back on my feet and moving in a much more positive direction. My weight is hanging about 246, up and down here and there so i am not moving the ticker just yet. I am hoping to get things back to there and below really quick.

Have skimmed through all the posts I missed and will offer some generic personals-- is that possible sounds a little contradictory, huh!!

Congrats to all the losers and i am with all of you WWW and mysterious gainers. Plateaus are so much fun!

Sounds like there is lots of weird weather going on out there, hope everyone is coming through it safely! We are already hearing talk of some white stuff coming our way NEXT Thursday, guess they want to give everyone a chance to get their milk and bread! I will probably get a little extra non-perishables over the weekend and hope for the best!

Seems we have a few others MIA at the moment and still a few flyer's by, hope all is going well with you and we can have a better visit soon!

Well ladies i finally did a little meal planning. So far its only been supper meals that are planned and pretty much just the main course. I made low carb spicy peanut chicken last night and i am going to try homestyle turkey loaf tonight. I am realizing that side dishes are where things get really boring for me, but i am surfing the books and hopefully will liven things up here a little more real soon!

Well guess i am going to get going now. I am debating on trying a new exercise DVD i got. One of the more dance style videos. I am no Ginger Rogers for sure so we'll see!

Well ladies, keep the positive thoughts going and doing what we know is best for us!!!!!! Let's not be our own worst enemies! Have a good evening and will try to be back soon. I keep saying that though don't I!

01-24-2007, 03:41 PM
Hey ladies...sorry I've MIA. It was just a usual weekend for me and didn't get a chance to check in. Then come monday PMS set in and has affected me this time like no other. I've been taken from my high horse and knocked down to what I feel is like my lowest low. All I wanted to do is sigh and cry and I had/have no reason why. It's very discouraging and the scales are not very nice to me either. Everytime I think about where I was before last weekend compared to what they are now (217) that I get even more depressed. I have to keep reminding myself that is all the effects of TOM and it will pass and I'll be back. It just hasn't been a great few days for me and I don't know how to explain it, but I'm not me and I don't feel like doing much. Oh why do we have to have hormones like this!?

Anyways....I hope you all are still treking and getting results. I hope to be back to me soon!

01-24-2007, 03:45 PM
Think I'm having an off day. I've been not keeping up with my points today....I've had maybe 4-5 points of instant mash potatoes, probably 2C. of popped popcorn (no points, I don't think...haven't checked) and two bowls (probably 3 Cups) of 2-3 points/cup. I'm just hungry today! :( I've gotta get a handle on this!!! :( I'm not eating again til supper....and it'll be light then! I'm gonna go attempt to tally up my points...hard to do when you don't measure. :( Guess I can get a ballpark, huh?

01-24-2007, 06:06 PM
Girlies girlies girlies!!!!!! we have got to get out of these doldrums!!!!!! Tina, i am with ya girl, life can get so overwhelming and just typing can be more effort than you want to expend! Diana, I have got major munchies myself right now and know it is sugar withdrawal. So i am trying to fill up on healthy carbs and keep going!!! Time to go whip up my turkey loaf!!! Hope ya'll have a good evening! Erin

01-24-2007, 10:48 PM
Evening Ladies...It's been a couple of busy day for me, and I'm loking forward to the next couple of days so I can just stay home and get some housework done.
Had a great weigh-in at weight watchers...1.7 lbs. I feel in my heart that I will be below 299 by June. I also got in a 40 minute walk in at the mall this morning:carrot:

Diane...I know it can be hard to take time out for yourself when you have very small children. Can you put your 22 month old in a stroller and go for a walk. It may sound weird, but I grab a grocery cart at K-Mart, put my purse and jacket inside it and walk the mall. Once the snow is gone, I plan on buying a joggers stroller, and give my dog Ozzy a ride. He's gone blind, and it's just too hard to take him walking with me on a leash, but he loves to ride, and with gravel roads the jogger's stroller should do the trick. :woohoo: That's a great loss for the week! 7.8 for two weeks is AWESOME!!! I'm also hoping for a 2.2 lb loss for next week, but I won't be dissapointed if I don't make it. I look at only 5 lbs at a time and nothing more.
Diane, something for you to think about; you have loss almost 32 cubes of butter. 32 cubes of butter that are not on your hips!:D

Linda...Sorry to hear you had a little melt down. We have all been there and done that. You will have those 2 pounds gone in no time.

Robbin...Sorry that darn scale isn't moving for you. Sounds like your body is adjusting and soon you will see the scales heading downward. Don't get discourage, OK!

Tina...OK Tina, enough!! You need to sit down and think about how far you have come. Sweetie, you have loss over 50lbs and I know how bad you want to see 199. It will happen, just not as fast as you would like it. I'm sure PMS has you retaining water and giving you the blues really bad, but this too will pass. Get your rear in gear and give your exercise equipment some heavy duty workout. A thought for you, you have loss 228 cubes of butter! That should put a smile on your face.

Erin...I'm so sorry for your loss, but I know with time and God's grace the years will get better for you. How was your turkey loaf? I use a lot of receipes out of "Light and Tasty" and "Cooking Light". I should get my butt in gear and post a few that I really like for you gals.

Liza...Sending the :wizard: fairy fat mother your way. I just know you will report a loss for next week.:carrot:

Louie...Hope you fly by for a visit and are having a good week.

Well girl's, I've got a few points to play with tonight, so I going to fix myself a bowl of strawberries and vanilla yogurt for a snack. Stocked my frig with fresh fruit and veggies today, boy have the prices jumped from last week, but we got to do what we got to do to get healthy.

Till later,

01-25-2007, 02:44 PM
Well ladies just another quick drop in for me and I am sorry to do it but my days have been so so busy here lately its hard to find time to get here. I did want to pop in though and let you all know that the scales are finally moving again. I went from 223 yesterday to 219 today :carrot: ............ Man it feels good. I have stuck with my exercise everyday since Friday and am feeling much more in the groove.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

01-25-2007, 04:15 PM
Hi gang . . .

Sorry, but I've only got time for a quickie, too. The day has been very busy, the evening will be equally so and I have to go to bed early so I can get up long before the crack of dawn to get to the hospital by 6:30 a.m. - what a horrible hour for surgery - oh well, hopefully that means I get home earlier too.

Of course, the weather is beautifully calm and sunny today; the weather is supposed to be beautifully calm and sunny on Saturday . . . but tomorrow . . . 4 to 6 inches of snow and high winds . . . it figures.

Don't imagine I'll be around much tomorrow and maybe not the weekend either . . . but I'll see you all again soon. Keep things moving and shaking everybody. :carrot:

01-25-2007, 04:19 PM
Just a quickie to wish you well tomorrow Linda, during your procedure. Hope it goes smoothly and that you're feeling better soon.

01-25-2007, 09:08 PM
Linda, just pop-in to let you know I will be think of you tomorrow. Hope you sail through your surgery and back home by the afternoon. Hope you put your feet up and relax for the rest of the weekend.

01-25-2007, 09:18 PM
Hey ladies..I feel a lot better today. PMS seems like poor excuse to give, but I tell ya I felt awful, overwhelmed and there was nothing anyone could say that I would have helped me beleive in myself at that moment. I just had to live through it and try not to do much damage. Thankfully it's passed now and I can move on as fast as I can and lose as much as I can before the next PMS strike next month! LOL! Hopefully those depressive hormones are once in a blue mooners.

Cheryl, thanks for the pep!

Linda, all the best tomorrow. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Hi to everyone else! I want to get to personals but I am going to have a very busy weekend starting tonight. My mom is coming into town to help out. My aunt is moving into her new house a block away from me. I'm excited for the workout that I'll be getting moving those boxes. Not to mention I enrolled Alyssa for ballet and tap lessons starting saturday. And my sister will be here with her kit and kaboodle. I don't think I'll get much free time. Have an awesome weekend and keep up your chins ladies and lets move this fat outta here!

01-25-2007, 10:39 PM
Hi Girlie Girls

Where does the time go... I haven't even made a fly by recently (bad me!!)

I hope you are all doing well and keeping on track. Take care and TTYS

01-26-2007, 11:12 AM
Hey ladies how is everyone? Scales were ok this morning at 220 not great but not as bad as it has been. I am in a downer mood, it hit me this morning that January is almost over and all I have left with my husband before he leaves is Feburary and March. I know I should not be feeling sorry for myself but I just cant help it today.

Linda - Good luck with your sugery hope everything turns out for the good.

Guess i had better get to work. Check back soon.

01-26-2007, 07:56 PM
Linda big hugs and good luck hope everything goes well.

iv been a bit off track this week, putting 4lbs back on put me on a bit of a downer, wasnt too bad with food but have done no exercise. have ordered a twister stepper thingy which should be here in next couple days.

01-27-2007, 02:45 PM
Hi everybody . . . . . . thanks for all the warm thoughts.

Obviously, I came through the little procedure okay and the sorest place I have happens to be my throat and neck (from the tube they stuff down your throat). Hey, this too will pass . . . Unfortunately, the GYN has already told me that I will need a hysterectomy based on what he 'found' yesterday. I'll get the details at my next visit in 3 or 4 weeks . . . oh well, I can't say I didn't expect this . . . just wish we hadn't bothered with the D&C . . . I mean it's not like I want to preserve the system so I can have more children (:D bite your tongue).

Anyway . . . you all have a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend . . . keep things moving and shaking . . . I'll see you all soon. Keep looking at the sunny side of life. It will serve you proud in the long run. :carrot:

01-28-2007, 11:13 AM
hope you feel better soon linda, glad to see you back was worrying bout you XXXXXXX

01-28-2007, 06:31 PM
Thanks LIZA . . . . . . I am starting to feel better today although the throat is still sore. Looks like it's just you and me today, kiddo. Keep things moving and shaking (but gently since it is supposed to be a 'day of rest'). See you soon. :carrot:

01-28-2007, 07:05 PM
have just done 15minutes on my air walker :carrot:
does anyone else use exercise equipment that isnt recommended for their weight, my airwalker was creaking a bit just now under the strain of all my weight its got a recommended weight limit of 100kg so has the stepper i've ordered. is that just a guideline weight or should i really not be using them?

01-28-2007, 07:10 PM
I don't know . . . I'd be nervous . . . especially with the stepper because you could really damage a knee if that thing broke at the wrong moment . . . but I know I am a big wuzzie about stuff like that.

Why don't you post that question in the exercise equipemt forum . . . here's a link . . . . . . let us know what kind of answer you get from them.

01-28-2007, 11:10 PM
Hi, Gals

Sorry that I have been MIA for the past few days... sometimes life just gets in the way of fun !! Hope everyone has had a great weekend and is looking forward to good things happening in the week ahead.

Take care and TTYS

01-29-2007, 05:59 AM
am just rushing out the door but had to pop in to share my good news.....5lb lost this week :carrot: :cb: :carrot: :cb:

01-29-2007, 10:36 AM
Hey Linda glad to hear you are feeling better. Look at the bright side a hysterectomy will be removing a couple pounds.

Liza congrats on your loss for the week. Feels great don't it.

Well just wanted to drop in and say the scales are down to 219 so I guess thats what I am gonna move the ticker to. Its just so depressing, I have never had to move it up before. Oh well from now on it will only be moving down.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Will check back soon

01-29-2007, 11:13 AM
Hey, losers! :) (Of course I mean that in the best possible way!!!!) Looks like the board has gone on without me! :( LOL Just kidding! Been very busy. Haven't had time to even sit down at this computer. And when I have, hubby's been over my shoulder. He doesn't know how much I way, so I don't post here when he's around. Don't get me wrong....I think this is the only part of my life he doesn't know about. I don't keep things from him...just this one little bit of info. He keeps asking me how much I have to weigh before I tell him how much I weigh. I told him when I lose 70 lbs I'll tell him. lol He won't know for a while!
Well, I really think I'll reach my 2.2 lb goal for the week. If not, I'll be very VERY close. I'm hovering at 2 lbs gone this week.....I don't have scales that weigh to the tenth of a lb, so am unsure. I may be there already.
Ya'll, I had a God intervention last night!!!! I must tell.....We went to Sonic (drive in fast food place, for those who've never heard of one). I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a large (yes, I said LARGE) order of onion rings. I'd not had many points, so I had them to spare for the day. My meal was going to be 16 target is 28. I felt soooo guilty sitting there waiting for our food...I was really hungry, but while I wanted to eat it, I really didn't. They brought our husband handed them a $100 bill. They said they couldn't take it and asked him to go get change and come back. He told them if they couldn't break it, he wasn't leaving and coming wi didn't eat there!!! We left and went to Subway...where I had 10 points instead of 16!!! :) AFterwards, I told him I was glad we didn't eat there....although I do love their onion rings!!!! Had we eaten there, I am pretty sure I could've kissed my 2.2 lbs for the week goodbye....
Linda, I'm sooo glad you made it through your procedure okay. A friend of mine just had a hysterectomy about 4 months ago. It literally took her maybe 2 days to bounce back. She said in 3 days she was outside raking leaves....
Tina, PMS is the absolute worst....the only thing that gets me through it is that I know it's going to be good for a significant weight loss...usually a couple of pounds! Makes it worth me.
HOw many sizes has everyone gone down compared to how many pounds they've gone down? I'm at 10 lbs and my pants are getting looser.....hope to have to go get more in the next few weeks. I'm just curious how everyone else is "shrinking."
Gotta go clean my house from the weekend. We weren't home long enough to clean, only to mess it up! LOL :) Have a great Monday everyone!

01-29-2007, 11:41 AM
Just popping in for a sec to share this with you:

It's an article about food - long but interesting!

01-29-2007, 12:01 PM

01-29-2007, 03:12 PM
Hi gang . . .

Just wanted to pop-in and quickly say HI . . . for some reason, I am in a very down mood today. Hopefully it won't last long.

See you all soon . . . keep things moving and shaking. :carrot:

01-29-2007, 08:30 PM
I swear I didn't fall off the face of the earth. ;) Things have been crazy here. We got through the crazy weekend of buying a car and throwing a birthday party only to have every one of us sick all week. Ben was puking; Lauren has diarrhea, hubby has a double ear infection. Fortunately, I was only blessed with a mild head cold plus AF, so I could deal with all of them. I'm still struggling to keep up with classes this semester. Bonus for being sick though - I dropped 3 lbs last week. I'm trying to resist the urge to eat every bit of junk I can find right now though - I got some terrible news today. A good friend of mine, that's 41 weeks pregnant, lost her baby today. She's at the hospital now giving birth. I'm so sad for her and so worried too. Beyond the emotional stuff she's going through, she's got a heart condition and almost died when she had her first daughter. So if you could, send any and all good thoughts to her and her family.

01-30-2007, 02:58 PM
Hey all! Wow, seems like we're a busy bunch! Sorry I again have been missing in action. I had a hugely busy weekend. Between helping my aunt and uncle, having my sister and her kit and kaboodle here and starting Alyssa in tap and ballet lessons. I've been hopping all over the place. I have an equally busy weekend coming up. I'm having a card making workshop on friday night and Alyssa has two birthday parties this weekend. To top it all off my husband decides that we maybe selling our house!! I have a realtor coming @ 3.30 to appraise ours. We've only been in this for 2years, we've customed built. Are we nuts?! LOL! Scales are being friendly again after last weeks disastorous moments I peaked 217 again and now today they're at 214.5. Oh Lord, lemme get to 212 and beyond this time!!

Well better go, gotta get our house presentable. I hope to get to personals soon!

01-30-2007, 03:47 PM
Hi, all. Well, I think I'm spiraling into discouragement. :( HELP! I have about a week til TOM and I'm hungry, hungry, hungry! Today (6pm) is WW weigh in. I was hoping for 2.2. I'll consider myself lucky to have reached a loss of 0.5 lb. It's getting harder and harder...I know, I sound like a whiney baby, huh? I had a loss first week of 6.6, then 1. If I have a 0.5 lb loss, I'll have a weekly average of 2.7. That's really, really good, I know. And maybe it's just a plateau...maybe it's TOM....probably it's lack of exercise. I don't have a specific work out schedule. I know I need one. That's the only way it'll work is to get my fat butt up and do something. I'm goin to do that right now. I've got a little bit before I have to leave to go get my son and while daughter's asleep. I know that won't help my weigh in today, though. :(

Anyway, I'm going to go exercise now. Maybe that'll help me feel better.

01-30-2007, 05:16 PM
Hi Gang . . .

My humour is definitely better than yesterday, but still not exactly 'up to snuff'. I'm sure it's just a left-over reaction to the anesthetic and will no doubt pass in another day or so. At least the weather has been sunny . . . although cold . . . so that helps my mood a bit.

Tomorrow is WWI for me and I'd be very surprised to see anything good pop up on the scale . . . but I'll just keep on plodding along and things will eventually go the way I want them to. :^:

See you all again soon. Keep things moving and shaking, girls. :carrot:

01-30-2007, 05:34 PM
Just a quick not to say that I jogged in place, paced the floor in a semi-jog, did some jumping and just generally moving really good....I lasted all of 10 minutes (truthfully, I probably didn't last quite that long). Oh well, it burned a few extra calories that wouldn't have otherwise been burned and it made me feel all proactive for a few minutes. :) Maybe I'll do more later....maybe.

01-30-2007, 10:38 PM
Okay, I think I've overposted today! lol Been a stressful one, but I'm glad to report a 1.4 loss for the week. I'll change my ticker tomorrow. Gotta run now...just had to share my good news! :)

01-30-2007, 11:51 PM
Hi eveyone, Just a quick pop-in. What's with all of us? We are all so busy busy this week, me too.

Linda, I'm glad to see you posting again. I hope you're completely up to snuff by tomorrow. Sorry to hear about the upcoming hysterectomy.

Tina, Boy your husband doesn't do anything spur of the moment does he? It would take months for me to make a decision like sell the house.

Congrats to the losers since I last posted - Boy we have several with good weigh ins. Take care everyone and I hope to do more personals tomorrow.

01-31-2007, 11:03 AM
Nikel sorry to hear about your friend. I could not imagine having to go through that.

Diana Way to go on the exercise.

Linda glad to hear you are feeling better

Tammy busy here too, hope things are going well for you.

Tina hope everything goes good for you guys with your house.

Scales have gone back up to 220 even though I have stayed on track with food and exercise and I am just about to drown them in the bathtub.

Well gotta get to work. Check back later.

01-31-2007, 12:12 PM
Another crappy week of the scales moving in the wrong direction. Oh well, sooner or later they will learn how to cooperate because I am really not doing the bad behaviour that the scales would tend to indicate. :( Sometimes things are just not fair.

Hope everybody else has a good day. Keep it moving and shaking gang. See you later. :carrot:

01-31-2007, 12:15 PM
Good morning all! I figure it's about time I take some ME time and sit down and make a good honest post. Would you guys believe that our house has gone up $208,000!!?? Unfortunately you have to spend that much to buy another decent new one. So we'd basically swap houses and not pay down our mortgage. But that doesn't seem to deter my hubby. He likes the new house plan and frankly so do I. If I knew then what I know now I would had never built a 2 storey home. I guess you really do learn from your mistakes. I still don't know what road this will take us down, it would be extremely hard to move from here. This feels like my baby in a way because I watched it grow from a hole in a ground to a nice home. We shall see!

Diana, I feel for you girl. Last week TOM took me for a whirl spin, literally. I spun out of control and the worst thing I could have done was to not come here for support. Doesn't matter how often you post, just keep posting to help you get through your tough "hormonal" phase of TOM. Congrats on the loss by the way. You're really rockin' it!

Linda, I'm glad to know your feeling a little better. It'll take time to fully shake it off I'm sure but as long as your on the path to recovery is great to know. We'll keep plodding along together!

Tammy, great to see you! My hubby has dropped hints for the past year regarding our house and I thought then he was nuts to even think of it so soon. I mean it is nuts! LOL!

Robbin, a threat of scale-acide seemed to always work before. I'd say try it again and see if they treat you any better tomorrow! Hang in there girl!

Have a great day ladies! Keep strong and be powerful in your choices today!

I'm curious Tina - as the vast majority of family homes here are two storey homes, with flats generally occupied by singles and bungalows being chiefly reserved for the elderly and the disabled who can't manage stairs, what do you feel are the downsides of living in a two storey home?

01-31-2007, 03:05 PM
Hey everyone- sorry for not posting much. Sick kids, eating like crap hasn't made me a motivated poster!
Tina- aren't housing prices crazy?! Will you PM me and remind me where you are again? I think I have a friend moving to your town- or at least where I think your town is, lol.
I'll try to check in later~

Robsia, I can certainly understand why you'd might be confused why I'd want to give up a two storey home, especially since I have a family. Here we have a variety of house plans other than bungalows and two storey. I'm not sure if you are familiar with a modified bi-level home, but that is what I'm interested in. When you walk into the front entrance you have 5-6 steps up to the main level or down to the basement. The basement is fully developed with bedrooms and a bath and a big family room. The main floor has kitchen, dining, living room, bathroom and two bedrooms. Off of the main floor you have another 5-6 steps to the master suite, which is over the attached garage, with ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. I feel that this style of home is a better use of space. Nothing would be wrong with a two storey, I would just like to limit the steps and get a better use of a basement. Whereas now, we never use the basement..I don't like the darkness and coldness of it. The home we're looking at is a walk-out onto ground level right out to the back yard. I guess it is personal preference. Hope you can make sense of all that...didn't mean for it to get so long! LOL!

Hey ladies a quick pop in. I have good news that has nothing to do with weight. I want to thank any and all that have kept my family in their prayers. Power of prayer has worked and My husband will not be leaving for Iraq. The mission his company was selected for has been cancelled. YAY.

I came very close this morning to having a head on collision and want to thank God again for missing the guy. The only reason I missed him has to be because God took over. By all rights I should have slammed into him.

Scales are still sitting at 220 but my mood is so good this morning even the scales aren't bothering me.

02-01-2007, 11:36 AM
Robbin, That's fabulous! You must be on :cloud9:. I'm so glad to hear that for you and your family. Somebody is certainly looking out for you today all around. :)

02-01-2007, 03:53 PM
my lateral stepper arrived this morning, boy does it work those leg muscles! i could only manage 5minutes and my legs were burning. but iv done 3 x 5 minutes so 15 in total, bet me legs are gonna ache tomorow!
still on track with food too, we went to a pizza hut birthday party yesterday and i only had salad, that was really hard as i love pizza and hate salad but i did it so i was proud of myself :D

02-01-2007, 04:26 PM
YAY, Liza. I too had to battle pizza. TOM is lurking in my very near future and I'm craving (with a vengence) pizza! We went to Subway last night. I had a subway sandwich, but my daughter had a cheese pizza. She had 4 pieces left over...I finally asked my husband to go throw it away before I ate it all. I had stood it all I could. Not much better today, but am at work instead of at home so the refrigerator is not haunting me...I fear what might happen if I were home today. :( Why, oh why does it have to be so hard???
I've had only 7 points today. YAY ME! My throat is getting sore though. Good news pants are almost literally falling off of only 10 lbs lost! YIPPEE! I get to go shopping this weekend! :) I showed hubby at lunch today how big they were in the waist...he asked how I was keeping them up! lol
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi - thanks for the explanation.

I wasn't confused, just curious.

I'm aware that in the US you have much more versatility in home design (and I'm very jealous). Building land is very much at a premium here, which is why most homes are designed to take up as little ground space as possible. Even three storey houses are becoming more common these days, as well as large apartment complexes which mean the builders can have ten homes in the space that two would have taken up in the past, maximising their profit of course.

But the only downsides to a two-storey home I could think of would be the stairs. I just wondered what it was that you know now that you didn't know then. ;)

I have occasionally browsed websites which sell home plans and, as I said I am SO jealous - there are so many gorgeous designs available. Maybe when I'm rich one day I'll use one. All you seem to be able to get these days round here is a basic three-bed box.

02-01-2007, 05:11 PM
just popping back in quickly before i hit the shower, iv just done 40minutes on treadmill...yes you read that most unfit person ever has just walked on treadmill for 40minutes non stop! feeling ever so slightly pleased with how things are going and hope i can stick to it
so for today i have done 15minutes on stepper, 40 minutes on treadmill and 400 reps with weights.

Hi there chickies . . . look at that, it's February already. Today was sunny and cold but tomorrow we are supposed to be having another gigantic storm. Actually, February 2 is probably the only day of the year I don't mind it being overcast . . . the groundhog won't be able to see his shadow . . . but I could do without the 'storm' part. :(

TINA . . . . . . Glad you are OK with the idea of moving, because it can be so very stressful, but since you want to do it, you should be fine. The new plan you are describing sounds nice . . . what I would call either a 'raised bungalow' or a 'split entry' . . . you get the advantages of pretty much one floor living but with a nice daylight basement.

ROBSIA . . . . . . One thing we have lots of in Canada . . . land (Of course, some of it is pretty much uninhabitable except by seals and polar bears :D) . . . although you never know it if you lived in Toronto or Montreal. We tend to build up in those cities because the land there is so much in demand and therefore very expensive.

ROBBIN . . . . . . Such wonderful news about your husband. Wonderful that you avoided that accident, too. . . you are very right that somebody is certainly looking out for you and your family today.

DIANNE . . . . . . Two great NSVs girl. Isn't it amazing that we can get so happy about passing up food that we love and losing our pants? :dizzy:

LIZA . . . . . . Wow, you are really becoming an exercising diva, woman. Keep it up! And send me the same 'bug' that has bitten you, please. :^: Afraid exercise and I have only a casual relationship. :(

Hi TAMMY  and Hi to everybody else lurking out there. Have a great moving and shaking evening and I'ss see you soon. :carrot:

02-01-2007, 07:09 PM
Robbin, that's incrediable news! I know that you have a big weight lifted from your shoulders now. I'm so happy for you both! Thanks goodness you were protected from danger this morning...what a scary close call.

Tammy, HI! Hope you're doing well!

Liza, you're strength is awesome. I'm not quite so sure I could be that strong right now, I'm so impressed. Good for you! With that determination you'll sure to be getting great results. Way to go!

Diana, I so relate to the fridge being an annoyance and calling my name. Sometimes after Alyssa goes to bed (always the worst snack attacks at that time), I take a glass of ice water up to my room and steer clear of the kitchen the rest of the evening. Hang tough dear!

Robsia, I guess I could have summed it all up in a couple of words and said, the stairs! LOL! I watch a lot of british home shows here and I see what you're homes are like. Not to rub it in or anything, but I can see why you'd be envious. There isn't a whole lot of space and I could never understand why bedrooms didn't have closets..on the shows they call them wardrobes and ppl gasp at the fact of a built in wardrobe..LOL! But you know, there are a lot of tiny spaces that ppl cram themselves into here in north america too, so don't feel to bad.

Not much happening in my day. Hope you're all doing well!

02-01-2007, 07:14 PM
Linda, you described it better than I could! LOL! I can't dwell on it wondering what will happen or else I WILL stress myself out. We went to the realator this morning to "make a deal", we said we'd have the house if the seller agreed to a condition that we'd get 45 days to sell ours first. Haven't heard back yet. We shall see!

02-01-2007, 08:54 PM
Hi Ladies...Just a quick pop-in for tonight. I wanted to let you know that the scales stayed the same this week, so I'm happy about that. We are in a deep freeze and I can't seem to get warm. Our power was out for 4 hours this afternoon and I can't believe how fast the house cooled down. I cuddled up with my dog under a bunch of blankets to stay warm. We are going to be -20 or colder for the next week. I'm so ready for SPRING to get here!
I'll be back tomorrow to do personals.

02-02-2007, 08:10 AM
i hope i get a good result on scale day cos the pain at the moment is putting me off, my leg muscles are killing me today. i woke up at 3.30am in so much pain i couldnt get back to sleep. my thigh muscles just burned :(
on the plus side though, i think im starting to enjoy exercising!!!!!!!! never thought id hear myself say that:dizzy:

cheryl wow -20 sounds cold, you stay snuggled under that blanket and keep warm.

meowee, sending you some exercise vibes, i do seem to have been bitten by the bug, not sure how long this motivation and energy will last but hopefully its here to stay!

tina, dont know bout strngth but determination yes..i am determined to lose this weight. i am more determined than i have ever been, i want this to work so bad i dont want to be overweight anymore.

diane, i know how you feel, what is it about that time of the month grrr i could eat the paint off the walls, just think yourself luck you only have that battle once a month, i sometimes have it every 2 weeks!

robbin, so glad to hear your familys good news, and be careful on those roads girl!

have a great day y'all
luv n hugs

02-02-2007, 10:29 AM
Liza - Sometimes a bananna before bed will help with those leg cramps. I know it sounds weird but its the potassium(sp) in the bananna that helps.

Cheryl - we aren't quite as cold as you guys but it is cold here, we have been in the teens most of the week with a little snow and ice. Right now I have a little electric heater sitting under my desk.

Tina and Robsia - I know that in a lot of places people cram themselves in to small spaces. I just don't think I could do it. We have 10 acres in the country and our closest neighbor is about a mile away and I love it. I love my privacy and my country life.

Linda - I understand how you feel about those winter storms. I feel the same. We have had so much snow and ice this winter that if it was 10 years before we saw it again it would be too soon for me.

Diana - Shopping for clothes is fun when you get to go to new sizes isn't it. I think I am gonna have to go shopping this weekend too. None of my shirts are fitting right these days.

Tammy - I am very happy that hubby will not be leaving. However it is not a permanent thing. The news is that it has just been pushed back a year, but now I have another year before I have to deal with it.

Well ladies the scales are not budging at all I am still stuck at 220. I just don't understand what is going on. I have kept my food numbers on track all week and exercised every single day with no progress. UGH!!! Something is gonna have to give or I am gonna go crazy.

Well better get to work. Check back later.

02-02-2007, 03:41 PM
Hi there, chickies . . .

Well, the "Triangulation of the Eastern Rodents" -- Shubenacadie Sam (in Nova Scotia); Punksutawny Phil (in Pennsylvania); and Wiarton Willie (in Ontario) -- have decided that Winter is almost over. Not one of them saw his shadow this morning. Yippee. Of course, can you really believe a bunch of groundhogs? :o Time will tell. But it is nice to have a unanimous decision for a change. :D

Other than that, nothing is very exciting around here. We still have a storm warning, but so far not much of anything has developed and that is just fine with me. :)

TINA . . . . . . I don't imagine you'll have a problem. Alberta is in a real booming market right now, especially up where you are.

CHERYL . . . . . . do you guys have a local groundhog? If not you can borrow the three mentioned above.

LIZA . . . . . . "Love" used in the same sentence as "Exercise" . . . does not compute! Don't forget to rest once in awhile to let those sore muscles heal.

ROBBIN . . . . . . I know how you feel, girl. We've just got to keep on keeping on until the silly old scale:devil: gives in . . . and he will.

Okay everybody, I'm off to do a miserable little session with Buddy and the Frog, but it will not be what I would call "lovely". Keep doing the good stuff as much as you can gang. Moving and shaking will carry us through . . . and here's a little :dust: to help us along the way. See you soon. :carrot:

02-02-2007, 04:00 PM
Hello everyone!! Guess what? We had about a 3 minute snow flurry today! It was soooo exciting! It's the only snow I've seen since the single 3 minute flurry we had last winter. My husband and I walked outside and he said "Look, it's either snowing or my dandruff is acting up again!" lol I so wish some of you who keep getting all the snow would send it on down....Louisiana never gets any!! :( When my son was 2 (he's 8 now) was the last decent snow we had...we got about 3 inches that lasted about 2 days. He doesn't even remember it all that well. I guess it's all this global warming they've been talking about this week.
Well, I've had about 7 points today. I kinda fell off the wagon a little bit yesterday. I think I probably stayed within my point range, but it was probably close. I got my son corn fritters for an afterschool snack yesterday from a convenient store. I ate like 5 of them...for those of you who haven't experienced a corn's deep fried batter wrapped cream style corn. I'm sure that in itself was atleast 3 points. I had 11 for supper last night. Then 2 more after that. I was right at my limit, I think. And we're having a superbowl get together Sunday at my house with boiled shrimp, jambalaya, dessert.....hope I can be good that day. Guess I'll just have to be extra good today and tomorrow just in case.....

Robbin....don't give up! I know you won't....It's just a plateau that'll eventually have to let go of you. Keep doing the things you know are right and it'll pay off.....

Liza....I'll be glad if I ever get to a point of actually enjoying exercising. They say you just have to find what you enjoy "doing" and make that your workout. I don't think surfing the internet constitutes exercise...and that's what I enjoy. lol We're discussing buying bikes...I think in warm weather I'd enjoy that...but not now!! YIKES! We may never get snow, but it gets bitterly much so that it'll cut right thru ya. Can't imagine bike riding in the cold! Maybe I'll find my niche.....if I find the energy to look hard enough! lol

Cheryl, when I can't get warm (my feet usually are cold!) I go run about 3 inches of almost hot water in the bath tub and soak them in it then put on warm socks and cuddle up under a blanket. I'm warm in no time! As much as I'd love to see more than 3 snow flakes, I, too am ready to see warmer temps! They say mr. grondhog didn't see his shadow today....... :)

Linda, think you could wish that snow storm on down to Louisiana?? LOL I don't know many folks here who'd be sad to see it coming....we're snow-deprived!

Robsia and Tina, we, too are about to put our house on the market (within the next year). We were blown away when we started looking at houses and when we had the realtor come look at ours. We'd not paid too much attention to the prices of homes in several years....they've skyrocketed!!! Which is good and bad...we'll make money on our house, but we'll have to spend ever bit of it to buy something comparable to what we have now. I guess it's good that we want to downsize, huh? Still, we'll probably spend most of what we make on our house! I guess it could be worse...we could be homeless, right?

Well, this post turned out about 4 times longer than I'd thought it would when I sat down. Sorry I've bored everyone! :) :) Hope everyone has a great weekend...don't know how much I'll be back on between now and next week...if I don't "see" you all before Monday, stay on track and positive! Let's all have baggy breeches together! Won't it be fun???? LOLOLOL

02-02-2007, 04:22 PM
Linda, your getting ahead of yourself there is going a bit just starting to not hate it so much, i certainly dont love it and given a choice i would much rather park my butt on the sofa or computer chair! :)
and iv taken a day off exercising today, went for a 30minute walk with my son but havnt done any workout my muscles are still too stiff.
Robin, thanks for the tip about the banana, i will have to give that a try.

02-02-2007, 05:47 PM
Robbin...I'm so happy to hear that your Hubby will not be going to Iraq. I know from experience that a very big weight has been lifted from your shoulders. How many more years does your Hubby have left till he retires? The years do go by fast except when they are on deployment, then they creep by. We are extremly cold today and it's suppose to get even worse by tonight. They are saying that we could hit -50 with the wind chill tonight and talking about closing the interstate, which I don't think is a bad idea. I would love to be able to plug a small heater in the car to keep my feet warm. The heater just wasn't doing it today. I wrapped up in the blanket we have for the dog.

Tina...Isn't it amazing how much houses have gone up in value. Your home sounds lovely, but I totally understand wanting everything on one level. I live in a 1910 two story farm house with a partial basement, but would love to have a single story home with a full basement if we continue to live in North Dakota. We have a reenforce stormroom in our basement to go to during a tornado, but it is only big enough for four peolpe to stand in. I would like to have something big enough that we could sleep in,if needed. I'm also like Robbin, we have 10 acres and our closes neighbor is a mile away. I love the peace and quite!

Diane...Congrats on the weight loss! You are doing GREAT!!! For Super Bowl, try to eat low point meals for breakfast and lunch so you can enjoy the party. Don't forget to drink plenty of water and have FUN!!!

Liza...WOW! You are doing AWESOME with the exercise. I'm so proud of you:hug:. Robbin gave you some good advise for the leg cramps to eat bananas, but don't forget to drink plenty of water. That will also help with the cramps.

Linda...Yes we have a groundhog and the darn thing saw his shadow the last couple of years and we had an early spring. Today he didn't see his shadow and they are saying spring will be early. Not holding my breath!! You wait and see, I'll be telling you all about the April blizzard when we get one. Not to mention that we are having our coldest temps in five years.

Robsia...I was watching International House Hunters and they were in England. What a shock! I couldn't believe how much homes/flats were going for and how small they were. Of course homes here in the US are very high as well. We would love to move back to Oregon to be close to family, but we are looking at 250,000.00 for a home, and that still doesn't get us what we have now. May still stay in North Dakota where rural homes are reasonable. Only have to deal with the cold six months out of the year.:D

Well I need to get a casserole made for a potluck we are going to tonight, if the weather holds out. Have a good weekend.

Cheryl :val1:

Does everyone else change their ticker as soon as they lose a pound or two or am I the only one that wants to jump right to it?? I've lost another pound or two....but am becoming skeptical about changing my ticker....I don't want to have to move it back up. :(

This is kinda changing the subject, but I just want to take a minute to thank everyone who posts here. You all are such an encouragement to me....I know that I'd never be able to do this and make it through each struggle of a day without the support of each of you here....even if you don't speak directly to me, I find encouragment in the words said to others. I don't have anyone personally that I feel comfortable talking to about my weight. I can come here and say the things I want (and sometimes need) to say. I talk to my husband about most of it, but it feels good to come here and be able to announce that I weigh 230 lbs and not feel uncomfortable about it. My husband has no idea how much I weigh...I mean, I'm sure he has an idea, but he doesn't know for sure. Anyway, thanks everyone....for sharing, for going thru this journey with me, for listening, supporting....You guys are awesome and I'm glad I have each of you "in my life."

Okay, enough mush.....I think my pms is really kicking in....Gotta run get some stuff done before hubby gets home and thinks I didn't do anything while he was out! :) Take care everyone....stay warm and eat smart! :)

02-03-2007, 02:54 PM
aw diana, i know what you mean, its good to have this place for support. it sure helps me stick to it. i also dont have anyone who i can talk to this about in real life so having you gals to talk to who know how im feeling and how hard this weight loss journey is really means a lot to me.

re tickers i weigh in once per week and change my ticker to whatever it is that day. if i sometimes have a peek at the scales during the week i dont change my ticker cos i know i fluctuate a lot throughout the week

02-03-2007, 05:29 PM
Good Afternoon, Chickies . . .

It's fairly mild here today (well comparatively) and that's probably why the sky has been dribbling ice tears all day. We seem to have been missed by the really bad storm they were threatening all day yesterday so I guess we are ahead of the game overall. :) But I hate ice . . . it scares the everlovin' beegeezess outa me.

CHERYL . . . . . . Guess that explains where our extra cold weather is hiding. So very sorry . . . but I hope you can keep it for a little bit longer. :^: Try to stay warm.

DIANA . . . . . . You can get mushy on us anytime you like, girl. You know that we all feel just about the same way. It is absolutely amazing around here, the way the love oozes out of every post.

LIZA . . . . . . Oh yes, that's exactly what it is . . . the "we're all in it together" feeling that everthing you say is really understood.

When it comes to 'moving the ticker', I have to admit I often hop on the scales every day or so, just to see how stuff is going, but I "officially" only record my weight after my WWI . . . and that sometimes means record it only in my Excel program. Because my ticker only goes in one direction -- downward -- to the right. The human body works only on its own schedule. Many is the time I've seen it down on a Sunday or Monday and back up again on Wednesday. Or, conversely, up on Monday and back down on Wednesday. I try to be a little logical about it . . . as we all know it takes 3500 calories to move a pound . . . so unless you "know" that you have been extra good or extra bad to the tune of that many calories, the pound (or pounds) in question cannot be real. For example, on Wednesday, I was up for the second week in a row and I put the 241.2 into my Excel program. I know I really did not 'deserve' to be 4.6 pounds above ticker based on what I'd been eating -- in my case, I think it is a reaction to the anesthetic in my system from that little surgery on Jan.26. Lo and behold, this morning (only 3 days later) I weigh 235.4 for a loss of 6.2 pounds (a 217,000 calorie deficit). . . I don't think so. I certainly hope today was the more accurate number . . . but only the scale:devil: knows for sure what the number will be by next Wednesday.

Sorry for running off at the mouth like that :o . . . guess what I'm really trying to say is the number on the scale is really only one indication that you are succeeding on the great winding journey to better health and fitness. As long as it keeps moving in the right direction over the long haul, everything is fine. :D

Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, girls. See you soon. :carrot:

02-04-2007, 08:23 AM
just realised i havnt been updating my exercise ticker and cant remember what iv done so just gonna reset it a day early, i've done more than my target tho so gonna increase it to 30mins per day target. had a bit of a chocolate binge on friday hopefully that wont have ruined this weeks scales result. yesterday did 30minutes on treadmill, did 40minutes this morning. weigh in tomorow morning. fingers crossed!!
hope y'all are having a good weekend xxx

02-04-2007, 06:54 PM
Fingers . . . toes . . . eyes . . . all crossed. Hope things go well for you tomorrow LIZA

Well gang . . . . . . wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope it is lots and lots of fun. :D

I did a big bunch of filing today . . . bad, bad habit of letting it pile up until I can't find the top of my desk and everytime Mouse swishes his tail he knocks something on the floor. He's gone to sit someplace else now . . . can't stand things this neat I guess. Hey -- it won't last. :o Everytime I clean up the mess, I promise myself I'll 'never let it get like that again' . . . just one more promise I know I'll never keep. :(

Guess it's about time to make the big salad and figure out some proteins to go with it. Have a great moving and shaking evening, everybody . . . see you soon. :carrot:

02-05-2007, 06:00 AM
4lbs lost this week!!

02-05-2007, 09:03 AM
Well girls, GOOOOOOOOD Mornin'! I'm swollen up this mornin....too much salt when I overate last night at our super bowl get together! :( But, I'm not going to stress over it AT ALL!! I'd had an otherwise awesome weekend (food-wise...and otherwise, also, I guess). It'll either not matter to the scales and I'll keep the loss I'd already had, or I'll go back up to a non-loss for the week. I think I'm okay with that either way! :) Next weekend will also be a challenge....we're going out of town with the same family that we got together with this weekend. They're definitely NOT health conscious people.....pretty much the only place they like to eat at is McDonald's...or what we call "Heartattack in a bag." Haven't figured out what I'm gonna do yet. Guess I'll try for a really, really good week and just try not to blow it this week.

Hey, everyone have a wonderful Monday! I"m sure I'll be back later........

02-05-2007, 04:19 PM
im finding willpower i never knew i had, took my son to macdonalds today and all i had was a bottle of water, the other day took him to burger king and again i had water. just a few weeks ago i would have been stuffing myself with burger fries coke and icecream! im so proud of me!

02-05-2007, 07:07 PM
just done 40minutes on treadmill, 5minutes on stepper and 100 reps with weights. off for a shower now, catch you gals in the morning XX

02-05-2007, 09:58 PM
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee...
I love that story.

Hello, everyone, I haven't lost any weight yet, so far as I know, but truthfully, I still need to buy a scale. How often do you guys weigh yourselves, I generally think that once a week is a good amount.

Good Morning . . . :D Woke up just about frozen this morning. I don't have the heat on in my bedroom and I had shut the door last night because one of the cats was driving me insane. Guess the wind shifted overnight and the temperature dropped way down. Brrrrrr . . . outside says it's -30C (-22F) this morning. At least the sun is shining.

Finally gave up on my cordless telephone/answering machine yesterday and moved a land-line phone upstairs to my computer room and then bought a sweet little answering-machine-only which i just finished setting up. Now I'm short one phone -- downstairs in the rec room but that room doesn't get used much in the Winter anyway, so I'll worry about that in the Spring.

Well, I had a chocolate meltdown yesterday evening . . . . . . ate about 125 grams of nice, rich, dark chocolate. Boo . . . hiss . . . and I am paying for it with a runny-tummy this morning. :o Today WILL be better.

LIZA . . . . . . Great loss, girl and great work with keeping up the exercise and avoiding the pitfalls at McDonalds and Burger King. You are really doing good stuff, Chickie.

DIANNA . . . . . . Good girl . . . one day definitely does not make or break the whole adventure. Actually McDonalds is getting a little better. You can now get a small salad as part of a meal instead of the fries; and the deli-sandwiches are a lot better than a hamburger . . . still not the healthiest food in the world :( , but better than before.

RHIANNON . . . . . . Welcome to the group. Afraid I can't place that quote? . . . tell us more. :D I agree that once a week is often enough to let the scale- know what is going on although I have to admit to sneaking a look at other times. Just so long as you realize that the human body fluctuates wildly and you have to ignore the short-term and look at the long-term pattern, you'll be fine. Hope we'll be seeing you regularly now that you've found us.

Okay . . . everybody else . . . where are you all hiding . . . come out, come out, wherever you are . . . we miss you. Anyway, gang, I'm off to try to do something constructive with the day. Keep things moving and shaking and here's some :dust: to keep us all heading in the right direction - downward. See you again soon. :carrot:

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday. I was in a state of depression. I was very bad over the weekend and my scales went up to 225, yep 6 pounds up from ticker. YUCk. Today they are back down to 222. That stupid number I can't seem to get away from.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Check back later.

Awwwww, Robbin....don't let it get you down. YOU CAN DO THIS! They're just 'em a thing or two!!!! Don't let 'em win!

Rhiannon, I'm not as obsessive this go 'round with weighing as I've been in the past. I do weigh probably every couple of days, atleast, though. I can't make it a whole week....I think it's physically impossible for me to wait that long. I'm not getting discouraged as easily this time either. I don't know if it's aging and maturity or what....but I know it's going to come off more than a few lbs a week at best so when it jumps around, I just generally don't stress about it. You need to get scales, though. You definitely wanna keep up with your progress to keep you motivated!

Linda, I'm finding that I have usually one "bad" day per week and it's not effecting me. Don't let it get ya down....your meltdown may not even "show up."

Liza, WOW! I'm speechless....your willpower amazes me! I don't think I could ever go in McDonald's or Burger King and NOT eat anything! Even if it was a grilled chicken sandwich or a salad. And your exercise is awesome! I'm curious to see what this does for your loss over the next few days.

Anybody know where everyone else is? I know all to well what happens when I slowly let more and more time pass in between my posts....I eventually quit coming. I'm hoping that's not the case with our folks who aren't regularly posting. Where are you guys? We miss you!!!

Well, today is WW weigh in for me. I think I've lost atleast 1/2 lb. I've had PMS for a week now, so TOM must be getting really close, which hopefully will make for a really, really good weigh in next week! :) :) :) This close to TOM, I"ll be happy with any loss at all!! Last month, when TOM finally came, it was good for a couple of I'll be happy to weigh next week. I was on track yesterday...and hopefully will be today, although I had one bite of chocolate this morning...a kid at my son's school had made chocolate last night and insisted that I have some this morning. It was tasty! But surprisingly I only wanted the one bite. YAY!!

I"ll let everyone know how weigh in goes....may be tomorrow though. Have a great day, ladies!

Hey girls, sorry I've been MIA these past few days. It's been really busy and stressful. We've put our house on the market saturday so I've been digging things out and clearing things that have been "swept under the rug" type thing. Trying to keep in "show home" order is very tiring. I had an agent open house this morning, which wasn't all that successful. I've been amazingly good even through all this stress, I haven't endulged once! I even came out on the other side of a weekend lighter than when I entered it. Trust me, that rarely ever happens!!

Now, lemme try to catch up!

Cheryl, oooh gosh...sounds like it's awful cold where you are. Hope you're keeping warm. I hear ya about's about time already!

Liza, congrats on the loss! You're doing so well. I can tell there is such a difference in you this time. Seems like your heart is totally into this. Keep up that great work and we'll be seeing less of you more often! ;)

Robbin, have you ever had your thyroid checked? Just a suggestion as to why your scales seem to be such a bugger. You work so hard and I would love to see you get rewarded big time!

Linda, another one with cold weather! I'm glad our weather seems to be hovering around the (-) teens. But I'm so ready for some nice WARM weather the kind that melts the nasty ice! We've had freezing rain and it's just awful out there!

Diana, I think you're about the only one I hear that's excited about winter weather. LOL! There is plenty up here that I'd be glad to give away! It's the same here with regards to buying a house using what money you'd make selling your own. Be awesome if you were to move outta town or like you said buy smaller. I mean if we'd sell now we'd make 208 grand, I'd love to take the money and run! LOL!

Rhiannon, I weigh everyday so I can try to keep myself in line when I have to. I know a lot of ppl can't handle the fluctuations but it doesn't seem to affect me too much as long as I know that I'm doing everything possible to change my weight.

Well, have a great day everyone! I'll try to be more of a presence more often!

02-06-2007, 07:00 PM
just popping in to change my ticker after doing 30mins on treadmill.

02-07-2007, 11:12 AM
-- but at least I do wear underpants when I go out in public.:o Yep, I got into the chocolate again last night. Well I can't do it anymore because I burried the rest deeply in the compost bin, under lots of other crud. Hey, I proved one more time that I cannot handle having chocolate in the house. It's always good to learn from your mistakes . . . right? :^:

Amazingly enough, when I totalled up my calories for the week, the average was within acceptable limits although I certainly could not call the last two days "good" from a nutritional standpoint. And now we come to my WWI . . . the nice little FFM let me get back to my ticker weight . . . and I know there is a downward movement in my future as long as I can just keep my act together. So, all in all, not too bad. :)

The sun is still shining around here and it is a couple of degress less cold (almost said warmer; but decided that would not really describe it) than it was yesterday. I've got to go out and pick up some tap washers so I can try to fix my kitchen faucet before I can no longer turn off the hot water -- the tap is almost going around in a circle. I probably should just call the plumber now and put him on a retainer or something; but I keep telling myself I should be able to do something this simple all by myself. :dizzy: I hope, I hope, I hope.

Anyway, Chickies . . . hope you all have a great moving and shaking kind of day. If we just keep doing the good stuff as much as we can, we will be rewarded. See you soon. :carrot:

02-07-2007, 11:37 AM
Well, well, well, ladies....weigh in was yesterday at 6 pm. I'm beaming with joy and pride to announce ::drum roll please:: a 2.4 lb loss for the week!!! YAY YAY YAY!!! TOM hasn't yet got the better of me!!!!!! (YET!) If I don't start pretty soon, I'll be making a trip to the drug store for testing supplies!!! LOL I'm gettin' skeered! (That's redneck for scared!)

I'm at work so not much time for posting...just wanted to share my wonderful news (oh how I wish it were onederful news!!! I guess it time....I never was a patient one!)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning ladies! Well between now and tomorrow morning we're suppose to be getting close to 15cm of snow not to mention the temps are going to feel like (-) 25 with the windchill. Uhhhhh...I was really wishing for spring, hopefully after this spring can make at least an effort to getting closer. I've so had enough of shoveling and freezing and slipping and did I say shoveling? ;)

My mind has been so preoccupied lately that I haven't given my all to my weight loss. I'm embarassed to say that I haven't exercised seriously in over a week. I haven't grocery shopped for my menus, I've just been flying by the seat of my pants hoping not to gain which in actuallity I've been pretty lucky with maintaining. I feel so bad and I'm looking forward to getting back to a schedule and routine. Now I just have to convince my body it's ready for some hard exercise...hehehe!

Liza, girl you're amazing. You're quite inspiring in fact. Quite the exercise junky...LOL! Keep it up girl, you can't go wrong right!

Oh Linda, from one choco-holic to another. I feel your anguish. It's a very hard, tough, almost impossible addiction to overcome. Unfortunately I feel that I can't and almost to the point where I say I won't. I keep telling myself that chocolate is good for you, but deep down I know it's only the really dark pure chocolate...bitter in other words that is. But hey, if I can have an ounce of that a's better than none! Hang in there girl!

Diana, woo hoo! Congrats! I'm so proud of you, you're really sticking this through. You my dear are quite motivating too. It's great to watch you really in the zone.

Have a great day ladies!

Meowee; I found that entry at the beginning of this thread, I'll reproduce it here for you;

Today is a good day so far, though I'm not sure what I'm going to do for dinner tonight, I'm helping my friend renovate her new house and since they haven't moved in yet there's no food so its all takeout. I was thinking a pizza might be okay if I only have 2 pieces. Yesterday we had Wendy's, but I didn't eat much the rest of the day so I'm hoping it balanced out. I have a cold and there's a windchill warning in effect again dammit. But renovating is hard work, so yay me!!

PS; 5 minutes of intentional exercise done!! Way to go me!!

02-07-2007, 04:41 PM
Linda, im so glad to hear you wear underwear in public, lmfao!!

RHIANNON . . . . . . Of course, now I remember. I loved that little story the first time I read it . . . sometimes, we get these senior moments at my ripe age. :)

LIZA . . . . . . Yep, my Mother was one of those who always said . . . "Make sure you are wearing clean underwear when you go out because you never know when you might get hit by a bus"

See you later, girls . . . :carrot:

02-08-2007, 02:49 PM
5 minutes intentional exercise done!! Plus all that painting yesterday, I suppose that counts for something too. I finally bought a scale, so now my ticker a little more accurate. Truthfully I'm not entirely sure what my weight was originally, so I thought 227 was a good place to start. I'll find out exactly what it was the next time I go to my doctor.

In other news my cat weighs 16 pounds, my dressing gown weighs 2 pounds, and my pjamasa 1.5.

Meowee; Honey I get those moments at the ripe old age of 26!! Nothing to be ashamed of!

Everyone; Thanks for the welcomes:cheer: they make everything a lot easier, knowing that I have a team beind me. And remember, I'm on your team too!!!

02-08-2007, 06:10 PM
rhiannon, lol at you weighing everything on your new scales!

just done a 45min workout 40mins treadmill and 5 mins stepper. wish my weight loss ticker was moving as quick as my exercise ticker!

hope y'all have had a good day. night night XX
