Hi Erika! I am popping over here to wish you well! Infact I am not currently at the moment ttc, as I do want to get healthy first, but that is my end goal, but I figure I could probably "qualify" for both threads, at least until I am into the fertility treatments, which will be a while as I don't even have a new Dr. yet.
So I hope its okay for me to "pop" in here. If not, too bad! lol. I'm just kidding. If you don't want me here I will understand. ;)
Wish you well!

Erika!
Thanks for starting this thread. I am currently working on getting rid of 15lbs that I already lost last year but that mysteriously showed up in September and October. I had a cyst burst in December and I am wondering if I hadn't of fallen off the wagon food wise if the pounds would have left with it. Blah. Anyways...
Here is my food plan for Tuesday:
Small Banana, 6oz light yogurt, 12 almonds
1 serving turkey pepperoni, 1 oz cheese, 2 tangerines
1 cup broccoli, pea pods, carrots; 1 tbls dressing; 1 single serving pack of cashews
extra lean ground beef with greenbeans, onions, and tomatoes over pasta
Pria bar, tangerine
Today's Goals:
Stick to plan
No pop
No coffee drinks
At least 15 of exercise (I have fallen way off track with this)
Have a healthy day!

My name is Heather. I'm 30 yo. I've been on the boards elsewhere (before my computer crashed) now I'm back and was recently dx'd with PCOS. I had been tested for so much stuff by my doc (everything from sleep tests for the exhaustion, xrays, blood tests etc etc) but he gave me no answers. When I went for my yearly well woman I broke down in tears when my new gyn asked about any new medical problems. I told her about all the different tests and the symptoms I was having (ovary pain that I'd had for years and shrugged off cause i didn't think it was anything to worry about, the excessive hair growth that I was just too embarrassed to talk about before, failure to lose weight despite many efforts, excessive sweating, pain after lovemaking (sorry if that's TMI), erratic very heavy periods, etc. and she asked a few questions, drew some blood, did an ultrasound and called me the following week. I have hemorhagic (sp?) cysts currently and all the lab work showed PCOS. She put me on Yasmin bc pills and wants me to come back in a month to see if the cysts are gone. I haven't yet had time to do alot of research on this but I do plan to. My tubes are tied so I'm definately not ttc but now that I have a name for what's been going on and I know I'm not crazy I feel like I need support more than ever (wierd huh?) cause i have no idea what's in store in the long run. She did tell me that this is something that I'll be dealing with for the rest of my life, that there isn't a cure but that the bc will help alot. I'm not sure how but I'm hoping. Anyway that's my story. Sorry to be so long winded. I look forward to getting to know ya'll.

Hello and :welcome3: Heather!
We all understand what its like to get that first diagnosis, it can be scary, but there is more and more info now and more and more medicines and what not for PCOS. I have heard Yasmin is great, one of my friends who has PCOS was on it.
I need to find a new Gyn myself and get in there and get my AF taken care of, I've been on this one since Oct. (off and on) so I can relate. Infact everything you said I can personally relate too, except for the tubes tied, mine aren't and we still want to ttc yet.
But all the other symptoms, YUP! So you have come to the right place! Ask away! Lots of wonderful women here to help you and that know a lot more than I do!!!!!

Thanks for the thread. Most PCOS groups I've found are geared towards those who are TTC.
Loosing weight with PCOS is so hard. GEEZ:(

Heather: Welcome aboard. I hope that now that you know what is going on, that things will get easier from here. You will have to let us know how Yasmin works out for you.
Tiffany: Most definately is the weight hard to lose and then harder to keep off. Hopefully we can all get it figured out for one last time.
Mom2twoboys: Way to go on having a good week eating wise and for taking the big step of going to the gym! I hope that this week is even better for you!
Teresa: Thanks for the good thoughts! I admire your decision to take a break and focus on you for awhile. I hope that the medicine works for you.
Sassy: May this week be the last of your neverending AF. I hope that you find a new doctor quickly and that you can get in as soon as you do.
Everyone else: Have a healthy week!
------------------------------------------------------------------
This week started out well but then I let myself get caught up in some emotional stuff and just blew it eating wise. We renewed our gym membership this weekend and will have to go a combined total of 40 times to make it worth paying the yearly fee over the pay by day. I think that we can do it. I just need to get going. I have a book on cd to listen too and I have a new cd player case that I got for Christmas to make it easier. Now, I just need to get it together.
Anyways, Have a great Monday!
Here is my food plan for the day.
egg muffin-Egg substitute, mushrooms, spinach, ham, onion, cheddarcheese
banana
celery
1oz cashews
1 oz cheese
1/2 serving turkey pepperoni
2 cuties
3 roast beef and provolone rollups
pria bar
1/2 cup grapes
mixed veggies
1 tbls dressing
thin pork chop with bbq spice rub grilled
1.5 cup snap peas with spray butter
1 pk kozy shack no sugar added rice pudding
6 almonds
1 tbls whipped topping

Hi all. Thanks for the welcome. I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Right now an eating plan is out the window as is exercise. Both of my ear drums are ruptured. I went to the ER Saturday night cause the pain was just intense and then fluid started coming out of my ears so I knew something was really not right. I got put on Keflex, 800mg Motrin, Percocet, and Antivert (for the dizziness and equilibrium problems). I am completely deaf in the left ear right now and have about 65% hearing loss in the right ear. Between that and the pressure in my ears, dizziness, nausea, and the pain and feel pretty bad right now. I can't eat much at all and I can't hardly walk. It will make life pretty interesting for me tomorrow since I have to make an hour and half drive to testify as a witness in court. I have no choice but to go cause I was served and if I don't show up I am in violation of a court order. DH has to stay home and get the kids off to school so I have to drive myself. Other than that I am doing great :D
I hope everyone is doing ok. I'll check back later to see how everyone is. Have a good day ya'll. TTYL

I just mix up cardio with weight training and try to do different stuff on different days. Today I did 20 mins elliptical, 30 mins treadmill and 25 mins strength training (Upper/lower body and abs). Planning to do some Tae Bo tomorrow and 30 mins of Yoga in the evening :)

Hi everyone! Hope that you are having a productive and healthy week! Welcome to all the newbies posting. Hopefully everyone can find a plan that works for them to get the pounds off.
LookingforHope: I am doing a combination of carb counting and calorie counting at the moment. Before this attempt, the only thing that worked was reducing my carbs below 200g per day. That is not always easy for a carb junky :)

Hi I'm new here, well sort of. I posted a little here a year or two ago. Anyway, I'm back and I have weight to lose again. I saw this thread and thought I'd join in since I'm not ttc and I have pcos. I have been on my program for 10 days and so far I've lost 8 pounds. I am just eating better (smaller portions), making sure I don't eat for at least 2 hours before bedtime and I get on my treadmill daily. I'm up to an hour on my treadmill. Anyway, hello to all of you!

Welcome to anyone that I have missed. I have been sort of MIA. Partially because January was a complete bust for me. I have gained another 4lbs and am not at all happy about this. It is hard to believe that in September I was 18lbs lighter and I definately feel a difference.
Part of it has been stress eating so I know that I have done some of it to myself but part of it was just my mysterious PCOS body adding weight for whatever reason. BLAH!
I have set an exercise goal for between now and Easter so hopefully that will help and if I can kick my stress eating out of the ballpark I will be good to go!
Hope that everyone else had a better month than me! :)

Hi everybody, I'm going to try and post in here on a regular basis! I've experienced a slow weight gain through most of 2006 due to a back injury and then a wicked case of plantar faciitis that practically put me on a walker!
I'm still trying to get rid of the PF, and hopefully it goes soon because as you probably know, having IR means we have to exercise more than the regular chick to lose weight. That has been key to my weight loss, which I didn't fully grasp until I discovered that it was also the key to my weight gain!
I love my gym, I love eating right, and there is no reason that I don't get back down to goal this year. I was miserable this Christmas. Never again!

Maybe I'll post here as well. I will admit I generally avoid the general thread here because I am most definitely not trying to conceive. Even though I have PCOS, my struggle would be different from those that want to be mothers and are having difficulty due to PCOS.

Well I am so glad that January is almost over. I have gained again this month. :( I have a tonsillectomy scheduled for Feb. 9th and I can only have liquids for 7-10 days after that, then I can move on to things like baby food, pudding, jello, noodles, basically soft foods that I can just swallow, for another 2 weeks. The doctor said that most people lose about 10 lbs after the surgery but they gain it back once they start eating normally again. My goal is to not gain it back, lol :D Seriously, once I am able to eat normally again I am going to go back on the fat smash diet. I did it last year for about 2 weeks and had great results with it. If I had of stuck with it I know I would be alot better off than I am now, but that darned lack of willpower thing got to me.
Jennifer 3FC- I hope that the plantar faciitis gets better for you. I have been dealing with it since the middle of last year. Mine came on because of knee surgery on the right leg so I was putting almost all of my weight on the left leg. I've gotten the cortisone shots twice and they really have helped, but they only last for a little while and then the pain comes back. As a matter of fact I am supposed to go get another one next month. My ortho said that most people who get it will have a problem with it for the rest of their lives, but depending on how you take care of it decides how much of a problem it will be. Have you done the frozen water bottle trick? It does help after you do it for a few days. There are also the stretches and the shoe inserts that help esp if you're exercising or on your feet alot. I think the thing that upset me the most about it was he told me no more bare feet. It aggrivates the condition. Shoes or house shoes at all times, and if it's just house shoes then I have to use the inserts in them for more support. No flip flops either and that's all I wear when I wear shoes, or at least it used to be. Anyway, I hope it works out for you and if I can help in anyway let me know.
Vanessa- Congrats WTG!
Well I'm off to bed. Take care everyone. I'll ttyl.

Jennifer -- Isn't that PF a foot thing? If so my SO has it and it's a pain.
Nelie -- this is for us not TTC!!
Heather -- I hope that the surgery goes well!!
As for me today was freaking crappy. I'm gonna make another post about the dr appt today.
