South Beach Diet - Chicks Starting/Restarting Phase 1 - week of Jan. 1st

Well, this is the LAST time I'm doing P1!! I've got to do it, though. I'm as addicted to carbs as I ever was and I need to change. I figure all of us going through P1 at the same time might need a place to discuss things and ask questions of the wiser, more experienced SBers.
I'm writing my menu for the next week after grocery shopping tomorrow (I buy the meat that's on sale and figure something to make with it after the fact). I have plenty of veggies and lean protein on hand for breakfast, lunch, and two snacks tomorrow, and I'll pick the rest up in the afternoon. I hate saying it and saying it, but I'm bound and determined for this to be the last time I restart. I'll weigh-in tomorrow morning and do my measurements in the evening and see if I'm starting from scratch or not. I really am afraid I might be back up to 216 or more, but I'll have to wait and see.

I think I'll be hovering between P1 and P2 for a little while. So you have my support. Somehow I somehow manage to lose 1 lb. in December. Ofcoarse my scale is not operating correctly so I had been weighing myself all over town. All other scales showed a 1 lb. loss. Who knows???
My goal is to be bathing beauty thin by June to go on my vacation. I have a looooong way to go.
I also am adding a workout with weights and more cardio. I figure that is the only way I am going to be able to do this. If I lose inches I am okay with weighing more.

Count me in ladies..I am ready to live on phase 2 but had better phase one it for awhile and detox from the mounds of sugar I ate over the Holidays, so here is to phase one for 14 days :cheers: (toasting with water ) ;)

And so begins P1! I stepped on the scale this morning and guess what! I lost 3 lbs over the month of December! I'm totally shocked! I think this is the first holiday season that I've lost weight in 5 years or more!
I woke up and had a great breakfast of eggs scrambled w/ veggies and some milk. I'll be hitting the treadmill and my bike for a while after this!
TwoPeas and Christian: It's nice to have your support and I know we can get through this P1ing together! It's just 14 days, right?

I am also restarting this week, either Tues. of Wed. but am trying to be somewhat on program as best as I can. I'm probably going to do P 1 1/2 just because I bought tons of fruit this past week. Best of luck to us all in 2007!

I started Phase I for the first time yesterday. That's technically this week...right? Good to know I'm not going through this all by myself!
I made a version of the sausage & cheese breakfast cups yesterday and had that for breakfast this morning. Last night, I made the cola chicken for dinner with homemade low-carb ketchup...had leftovers for lunch. Not too shabby, but I'll use less vinegar in the ketchup next time.
I'll do some time on the elliptical this afternoon. 20 minutes is my goal. I'm ever-so-slowly working on getting up to 45.

Allrighty-count me in.
I had lost 50 pounds on SBD between July1, 2004 and Feb 2005-have had 20 pounds slooowwwly creep up on me since. (At that time I had recieved custody of my sisters children and my life turned upside down)
the past couple weeks I have been getting back to my gym routine-but they wll be closed today. pooh. Gonna go ride my horse today tho.
My goals are..... get back to my previous low by my birthday (Feb 28) and down to 145 eventually. now to remember where I can get one of those ticker thingies.

I am needing a detox from the sugar I've inhaled as well. I was going to start the day after Christmas but it seems to be such an uphill battle with family, parties, goodies so this morning I stepped on the scale.....there was NOT a smile on my face........anyway, phase one has always been good to me, after about the 4th day. I'm stocked up on tylenol for the headaches to come.

I'm going to be starting tomorrow, Tuesday the 2nd, I've got to go to the grocery store in a little while....I've gotten my shopping list ready. I've just got to clean out my fridge! I'm gonna weigh in in the morning...I really dread it! I know I've gained a ton of weight since I last weighed in. I have been off of any diets for a year. and before that I did pretty good on the Beach. Well...there's no better way to kick off the new year is there!

Count me in starting tomorrow a.m. Gonna bake a quiche today so I have it for tomorrow to get started right. Kim that is such a great thing to lose three pounds during the holidays. Good job.
The :carrot: and :cb: are so cute I am going to add one of those to my siggy for each day I follow plan. I want to do PI for the entire two weeks and then 1.5 for a couple of weeks to wean myself into P2. That is where I fall off the wagon so I know I am adding back carbs too quickly with P2.

Oh, yeah, here I go again, too! Restarting phase 1 after the holidays!
And Thursday afternoon I am expected to accompany my Primerica office to a leadership school in Orlando. We will be driving down together in one car, packing our food and sharing a hotel room. Problem is, I am the ONLY one who is interested in eating healthy, let alone on South Beach. One other young lady is almost a walking skeleton and decided to bring donuts in last week! I didn't touch them, though - donuts don't really do it for me anyway.
My upline doesn't even like healthy foods - she and her husband prefer white bread and anything fried. They don't like fish, most vegetables or whole grains. >Gee, I wonder why they are overweight and diabetic - did I say that?<
So I will have to pack enough food for myself for 3 days. I need ideas for easily packable foods: hard boiled eggs, cans of tuna and chicken, cheese sticks, precut veggies, little cans of lima beans, green beans, mushrooms, hummus, nuts (I better prepackage those in single servings!) Plus my can opener, plasticware, and be prepared when they go "Eeeww" when I pull out my phase 1 travel foods! (Warning - I like sardines!) :devil:

Well, D1 of P1 is over for me and I didn't do too well. I had great meals up until my snack before dinner. I don't know what I was thinking, but I pulled out some ritz crackers and made mini-pizzas from them. Then, to top it all off, I made stir fry for dinner and decided to just go ahead and eat the white rice! Yikes!
That's okay. I think I'll just do D1 over today and just let it go. Moving on...
Breakfast today was eggs w/ veggies, some V8 and skim milk. Lunch is a salad with leftover stir fry (the rice has been disposed of) and dinner is grilled chicken tenders, baked squash, salad, and green beans. Workouts will be a 50 minute pilates aerobics dvd, 30 minutes of floor pilates, and 20 minutes on my bike. Not too shabby for a redo of D1.

Today is the first day back on the wagon too! I gave up over the holidays and just tried to stay semi on track. I am looking forward to feeling good again and I know that this is truly my year to get skinny. This is the first year I haven't ended with a gain on the scale, so I've got 365 days to lose and maintain the loss! I'm totally pumped and ready to commit to the lifestyle. I can't wait to get this nasty sugary bloated feeling gone!
Goal for this month: 8lbs.

Two days of P1 down, and I'm not dying. :p I'm feeling rather energetic today. Wish I was at home instead of at work so I could do something with it. :carrot: I took some Tylenol before leaving home to ward off the headache I knew would come (I've had one for the last 4 days, so it may or may not be diet-related).
This morning's breakfast was coffee and the egg, spinach, and sausage casserole I made on Sunday. I packed chili and salad for lunch, sf jigglers and peanuts for my afternoon snack. Planning to make something akin to chicken cordon bleu for dinner if I remember to stop at the grocery on my way home.
Exercise planned for the day is 21 minutes on the elliptical. I want to add a minute every day until I get to 45.
On an off note, I think I'll have to eat b-fast before leaving for work in order to need the required morning snack. I ate at 7:30 and will have lunch around 11.

I'm back! I slacked and disappeared for a few months, and gained 8 lbs back. So here I am, back on mostly Ph 1, but not kicking myself for Ph 2 slip ins (let's say Ph 1.25). I am also now playing hockey and ice skating a few times a week, so hopefully that energy burn will help out.
Not going to make my original "thin by 30" goal as that is now less than two months away. However, I think that I can safely lose the 8 lbs I gained back, and another 8 (I hope) by my birthday, February 24. And then I will hopefully keep going from there.

Day 2 of P1 over, so far so good!
Although this is the first time I workout while on phase 1, I'm not feeling tired or hungry, I don't even feel like snacking, weird! Not that I am complaining :)
Is it because I'm drinking plenty of water?

Hi ladies! I'm on day 6 of phase 1 and doing good. I've had a lot of days off this past week so I've enjoyed lots of omlettes, but I'm back at work tomorrow so I've got to think of something more portable. Maybe I'll make some hard-boiled eggs and bring them with me and have one for breakfast.
I haven't had any headaches, but I was very sluggish on day 3, and on the first 2/3 days I was extremely b!tchy!! Lol.:censored:

Kim and I are doing D1 over again. I should have known better than to try yesterday. The kids brought all the left overs to our house and I did not eat OP but I did make them take any leftovers with them. Will scout the house out today for anything that should not be here.
Now I have 8 lbs to lose to make my January goal of 6 lbs lost. I can do it though. I know I can.

I finished day 2 on Phase 1 and I feel pretty good. The only time I am really feel hungry is right before I go to bed. Weird!

As to feeling hungry before bedtime, I have gotten into the habit of those ricotta cream desserts - if I don't have one (got home too late from a Mary Kay unit meeting last night), I feel deprived!
Finsihed day 2 of P1, so far so good. And the lady who recruited me into Mary Kay says SHE is going back to South Beach - and she is so thin! Wazzup??!!
So thin and she brought Christmas cookies to every meeting in December while she ate yogurt!

Day 3 of P1, and I'm feeling SO good I'm afraid I'll jinx myself!
I forgot how much I enjoy working-out, yay to endorphins! I know it's all in my head and it's just psychological but I can already see the difference :)

Gooood Morning!! Day 4 is off and running.
Yesterday was good. Made my sorta chicken cordon bleu for dinner and it was great. Took a chicken breast and sliced it into 3 strips. Put some LF mozzarella on top and then wrapped 'em up in a thin slice of smoked ham. Baked at 425º for somewhere around 35-40 minutes (didn't really pay attention). M-m-m-m-m!!
Got in my 21 minutes on the elliptical. And then, after the kiddos were peacefully sleeping, I made the warm "brownie" for dessert and it was chocolate bliss. Paired with my daily cup of decaf chai tea, I was completely set for the rest of the night.

Morning ladies! I am so glad it's Wednesday! Glad to be back at work as well. Day 2 went well for me. I'm in a bit of a situation, though. I work out a lot and I think I definitely need to up my calories to be able to keep up. Anybody got any tips on healthy ways to up calories without feeling stuffed. I'm fine throughout the day, but the second I start working out, I feel like I don't have the energy I usually do. People have suggested that I cut back on the exercise, but I'm really not into that. I've fallen in love with exercising and I can't slow down. I just wouldn't feel right if I did. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hope everyone is still doing well! Remember that we're doing this for ourselves and that we're responsible for what we've done to us, whether that's put on an extra 10 lbs or 100 lbs (like I have). We can do this!!

Kim, you can up your calories with legumes and dairy and you probably need those good carbs when you are working out.

Good morning everyone. :coffee: I get to add a carrot or banana for sticking with PI for the day yesterday.
I had weigh in yesterday and gained and then one day strictly on the beach and I actually lost .5 through the holidays. Guess I ate too many saltly things for New Year's. Not changing my ticker until next week's weigh in though.

I did great with Christmas, but went off plan for afternoon tea with my family after the holidays. I'm in for P1 for at least a whole week, hoping to completely rid my system of the sugars and start anew at losing the weight I've gained by going off three times in the last month! :o

I am new today! I have been "trying SBD" because I had NO appropriate food in my house, so I have been doing pretty good for two days, but planning a big shopping trip tonight (with list in hand!) So I am "officially" starting tomorrow~...any help and suggestions are SO GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! I am excited and have already noticed a new alertness, not the usual 2 o'clock haze...I am happy to get to know all of you!
The heaviest I have ever been is 307 pounds. I have been a WW'r on and off for years, and am at about 253.8 (at last WI) My goal weight is 150. WHich I am hoping to come as close as possible to by my 35th birthday (11/20) Almost a year to do it...

:welcome: Tracie. Be sure to check out the Revised Phase I Food List in the Frequently Asked Questions Section. Dairy and legumes have been added to Phase I since teh book came out. There are also lots of good recipes in the Recipe Section.

Morning Chickies! It's Day 4 for me. How is everybody doing?
I'm doing pretty well. I've added in a few whole wheat crackers with my lunch (I usually have 2-4 small crackers). That seems to have really taken care of my lack of energy during my workouts. I feel like I'm back at 100%. I'm going to stick with the crackers until Week 2 of Phase 2. I'll go ahead and add in some fruit on the first week, but I won't add anything else back in until week 2. Well, I guess that settles it.
I haven't been on the scale since Monday, I'll W-I again next Monday. I feel lighter and my clothes are definitely feeling better. It's all in my stomach. Feeling pretty good! Looking forward to week 2, it's almost here!

Day 5 and I'm still going. I definitely need to kick the salt out, but it's so hard to do! Bye-bye to the beloved dill pickles. Back to Mrs. Dash on my steamed veggies. And away with the deli turkey and ham I bought on Monday (acutally, those I'll give the girls). I'll be buying turkey breasts (and an occasional ham) to roast and slice myself from now on. Guess I'll have to keep a better eye out for sodium contents.
I'm panicing about tonight's dinner. Directly after work, the girls and I are headed just shy of 2 hours south to meet their dad and I didn't have the foresight to pack my dinner. Would I be okay with a grilled chicken salad from Sonic (tossing the o-ring) if I use my own dressing? It's kinda difficult to eat salad and drive though. The other option would be to have a snack instead of dinner and eat when I get home at 9:00. There are leftovers in the fridge, so it's not like I'd have to cook. Hmmmm...

:dust: Day 4 beginning here, I'm so glad to get the last two days over with. Headaches and fatigue that I knew was waiting for me did happen. I feel pretty good today. I need to do better at water but I'm patting myself on the back for taking my meals to work the last couple of days. I work 12 hour shifts in the ER and I'm there from 6 in the morning until 6:30 at night so I'm basically eating 3 meals a day there. It takes some planning but it is worth it.

Day 5 for me as well.
I decided not to take the Primerica trip - too busy anyway!
So with hubby out of the house I can do what I please. Right now, since I am self employed, that means working on projects at my computer. Went shopping today,t hough, Friday is grocery day. They had buy one get one free on Crystal Light, both the ready to drink and the powder, so I took advantage of that! Bagged salads were buy one get one as well.
Twice a week I have to brown bag, the rest of the time I am mostly able to eat at home. I do, however, try and keep snacks on me. Cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs, and I love celery with peanut butter (peanut butter is the whole reason God created celery, IMHO)
I know I need more veggie snacks.Winn Dixie has tons of bags of baby carrots, but that's not for phase 1! I just need to cut my own celery and broccoli!
I may not have been 100% compliant. I had black eyed peas for New Year's and I read somewhere they are not legal - I thought all legumes were, other than green peas? That would make soy flour legal too, wouldn't it? And I know I went over 75 calories on sweets a couple of times, but the scale does show me down 2 pounds, even though I ate like a little piglet!
This is normal for me on South Beach: the first week or so on phase 1 I turn into the shark from Jaws, eating like a madwoman. When phase 1 is winding dwn, though, my appetite starts to calm down. I wonder if that's a signal I need to do phase 1 more than 2 weeks? My late mother had adult onset diabetes, if that makes a difference.

This is my first post. Today was day one of P1. I did sbd 2 years ago for about 6 months and then got pregnant and then of course the brownies and ice cream crept back in. So, I'm starting over. I would like to get down to my pre pregnancy weight (170) before my daughter turns 1 in March.
Today wasn't actually too bad, I was tired and I did have a headache but I wasn't trying to eat everything I saw.
