Hi Everyone,

I finally got on this thing. I Went to Maine for the weekend again and got back last night. The rest of the time, I have pretty much been glued to the t.v. I just feel awful about everything that has been going on in the world.

Pj, I too am sooooo sad that we didn't get to meet, what a bummer. Like you said it just wasn't in the cards this time. I never did ask, is your van wrecked or fixable? Hope you are all done with the accidents for awhile. Oh yeah send an e-mail to my home e-mail at Punnky@att.net so I have it, somehow it has disappeared and I only have one of your old ones.

Well hello to everyone, gotta boogie.

10-09-2001, 02:07 AM
Hey all!

I don't feel like I have much to say, but wanted to stop by and say hi! Last week was a real sucky one.....lots going on. I didn't even go to weigh in. I have to work this Friday, so I don't know if I'll get to WI this week either. The only other day I can go is Sat morn, but I didnt really like that leader, and I hate going and spending the $$ just to stand on the scale and not stay and get motivated. Ah, what to do, what to do?

So far this week isn't as bad, but now my baby (my 2 yr old) is sick and it just better not keep snowballing like last week did!!

Anyway, I don't want to be a downer, so I'll wrap it up here. Though, I DID win a nice basket on auction tonight that made me feel happy-happy! And of course, I checked into chat and my buddies there make me laugh, so that helps too!
So, for my Night Owl Buddies, I'll say goodnight for now. Maybe after a good nights sleep, I'll feel much better. That IS of course, if my son LETS me sleep! ;)

Good night!

10-09-2001, 10:56 AM
Ally - I do my WW at home. I come here for all the support I need and do individual e-mails when I'm having a really rough time. Why not team up with me and we'll beat this "battle" together with our weight???!!!!! Don't get discouraged........I'm here for ya....if you want me to be and I'd love to have someone to check in with every day religiously (sp?).......Let me know. K?
Hugs to you and don't be so hard on yourself. You've got a full plate and you're only human. REMEMBER THAT!

10-09-2001, 04:51 PM

10-10-2001, 10:33 AM
Weigh to go Jen! Congratulations!! I was close to being under 200 but got pregnant and gained back alot that I lost! That recipe sounds great and such low points. I am going to try it for sure!!

Good morning PJ!

Where is the rest of the group...

10-11-2001, 05:26 AM
More therapy for me and I have to drive 45 minutes each way..hope I can do it!

Me and my pumpkins...remember that pictures add 10 pounds!

10-13-2001, 06:39 PM
42,f doing ww,but wants to know what night owls is?Is it a name of a group or what? Also I want diet epals from southern ca.You can write me at-mrs.piggy7@juno.com

10-14-2001, 04:20 AM
Well when I saw the doc he said I could garden and do other stuff as long as I could stand the pain and I thought that was funny cause pain means something is wrong and my new therapist said that if it hurts don't do it or you won't heal! I have to go three times a week for this stuff to work and they don't want me doing much with my arms! Just too much to do!

Picked a nice bouquet of flowers the other day and they are still fresh! No freeze here yet but wet and cold so I have been walking at the mall after my therapy. OK..some shopping too!

I have been searching through my clothes and trying to see what fits so I don't buy what I don't need! Grabbing those hangers is a killer for my arms and of course I am washing a bunch of old clothes up and laundry is hard on me too.

I think my scale is off cause it said I was down 3 pounds and I'm not trying to lose anymore.

My madevilla later in the season, I used some of the flowers in the arrangement cause the wind broke them off!

10-14-2001, 10:33 AM
Candice - Your madevilla are beautiful! You really DO have a green thumb. I mean it.....one of these days I'm going to visit you and pick your brain about plants, flowers , etc. :D
As for you pain. I know what you mean. But as the saying goes..... "use it or lose it". I live with pain on a daily basisi and will NEVER stop trying to find ways to make it go away or atleast lightne up on me. Don't you either. I do know that movement HELPS but I really try to listen to my body and when it hurts TOO much....I take it easy and just relax, watch a movie, read a book or try to bake or cook something that isn't too strenuous on my hands or arms. I don't know if you remember but I had Fibromialgia (sp?) way before I got into my car accident on 2/99. I pretty much had it under contriol (as best I could, meaning I was on a vitamin and rest regimen that really worked for ME) until the accident and now I have my OTHER problems besides my Fibro. So.....what are you to do but just keep plugging away the best we can. I always try to remind myself that there are other people that have MUCH worse problems than I but when I'm having a REALLY bad day.....it seems like I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. I just want you to know that I really do know how you feel Candice and whenever you really need a shoulder to lean on or cry on or whatever you need at that particular moment......I'm here. If you email me, I'll send you my cell phone number so I could call you. I get unlimited long distance on weekends and after 8pm during
the week. So it wouldn't cost you a thing to talk if you felt like talking. ;)

10-14-2001, 10:52 AM
Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a good morning. I bought a used digital camera last week and am going to try and post a picture here. I tried a minute ago but it was too big so I think I figured out how to size it down, we will see.

I have been basically maintaining my weight lately staying between 176 & 178, I think it is time to start moving down again. It has been hard since getting back from Disney, ate alot of food down there and it threw me off my diet.

I hope you are all doing well.

PS(I deleted the picute that I posted because I did not size it right, told you I didn't know what I was doing, LOL, anyway PJ posted it below much better than I did)

10-14-2001, 10:52 AM
Me again.......don't know what 's up with the message board this morning but I THOUGHT I just lost my entire post above because when I went to click on the smiley face....it disappeared. So I took a chance and clicked submit and there it was. Oh well.....I tried to fix a typo and couldn't do that either.

As for my WW and weight loss. Dont' know what my weight is but I know I haven't gained. I'm back to weighing myself once a month and I DO feel like I'm doing well but also know that I'm NOT getting all of my water in. So strange too...I'm such a water lover and always have it with me. Just really busy lately I guess and have to try harder to get the water AND fresh veggies and fruits in. Last week, my neighbor gave me some of the bananas off of her tree....they're really small but sweet and very good. I LOVE bananas and I actually had three of them go bad because I didn't eat them.....now I KNOW I'm losing it because I almost ALWAYS have a peice of fruit of something in the car with me when I'm bouncing around. Ok, nuf about me.

Mrs. Chubby - Can I please make a suggestion???? I saw your picture and the name doesn't suit you. I know that from my own perspective on things....it wouldn't make me feel very good with a nickname of Mrs. Chubby. Come on now, try something that will make you feel like you're on your way to the new you ;) As for the NIGHT OWLS. Brenda started this group about 4 (?) years ago. There was only a handful of us at the time who came over here from the original WW site. We mostly consisted of Moms who could not get here until after 9 or 10pm . Thius the name NIGHT OWLS. We somtimes would be chatting until the wee hours of the mornng on ICQ. I don't even have that now. IM is my thing. Heh-heh. Anyway, that's how we got started and have grown ever since. Some of us disappear for months or weeks at a time and then re-appear but that's life. Our families come first and we ALL have been through lifes little dramas now and then. This forum has been a true blessing for me. The people here are all over the states AND Canada and Australia. Don't know if anyone is from Californina.......oh wait......Michele aka ET is from California. She pops in every now and then. The ET stands for my EVIL TWIN.
So that's the story.

Well ladies, I'm outta here. Have a great day.
P.S. here's a picture of Brenda NOW.....look at how thin her face is.

10-14-2001, 11:04 AM
Brenda - This is tooooo funny. We are DEFINITELY on the same wave length today. I cropped and resized your picture for you and then I came back and saw your post. I have to say though....YOUR picture made you WIDER. MINE is how your original picture came out. <grin>....as Martha Stewart would say...."now that's a good thing".
Love ya,

10-14-2001, 11:15 AM
Yikes, Yes mine made me wider I did notice that. I am going to take it off and just keep yours on. Thanks

10-15-2001, 10:04 PM
Ok LADIES - The "break" is over......WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU ALL???????? Hey, I NEED you people.....don't you understand that? So does Bren and Candice......Ally, Jen, Michelle....come on now.....we all need eachother. I realize we all have lives of our own but some of you have been away for a loooooong, long time and it would be wonderful to "see" you here. Please drop in and give us a line or two or three or four and let us know how you're doing.

We just got back from Billy's Elem. School. They had a magician/comedian who sawed the principal in half. Well, not really but I'd bet anything half of the parents were wishing he would...<sly grin>.....arent' I just awful?????:D
So...we're having a VERY informal dinner at 9pm at night. We were too rushed before we left at 6:45 and I knew the kids would eat better a little later. Anyway, it was fun but it was so nice to get home and slip into my jammies. Now to drive over to the barn and tuck in Missy. Hope u all had a good day. Do yourselves a favor....turn the T.V. off every now and then and listen to music or listen to nothing. Dont let these terrorists get to you. I mean, YES.....they HAVE gotten to us all and I know it's not over by any means....but to keep our sanity....we have to clear our heads every now and then. So please, please, please. Take my advice and walk away from that T.V. now and then. It helped me more than I thought it would.
Sweet dreams my friends..

10-16-2001, 11:07 AM
OK OK OK I'm here I'm here! Mostly just lurking! I have to go to Rhode Island this weekend to pick up my computer. My BIL was upgrading it for me. So I have only access at work and it gets hectic here sometimes and I don't get to post much!

OMG BRENDA!! You look wonderful! I can't believe the difference from the last picture I saw of you way way back when you were still in Maine! You go girl! You are inspiration!!

I had a 5.2 lb loss last week. I went to the gym 3 times and did 45 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes in the pool. I know from the last time that exercise is the key...it comes off so much quicker when you are moving! The past month the weight loss was moving so slow and I was getting discouraged! But not no more...I am going to the gym mon wed and fridays every week!

Ok I am at work and gotta run...you all have a great day...and come out and post so our PJ won't be so lonely!

Michelle K

10-16-2001, 08:02 PM
Hi Everyone,

PJ, you said it girl. Shut those tv's off even for a little while. I have watched nothing but Cnn morning and night since Sept 11th, it was consuming and depressing me. The last couple days I have changed that. I do still watch a little cnn in the morning when I get ready for work and a little at night, just enough to keep up on things. But I am now back to watching some of my favorite shows too. I can't let the terrorists rule my life.

Michell, so glad to see you around. Wow, you sure made me feel good. Thanks for the compliment, you and Pj are great. Yes, my body has changed alot in the right direction but it is going to change more soon, real below...

major decision for me

well, I guess it is definitely going to happen and soon so I am ready to share it with you all. I have decided to have breast reduction surgery. I have always wanted it done but it costs almost $7,000.00, through work I now have insurance and it will pay for the whole thing. I got a call today for the surgery. I am to pick a date, nov 8, nov 15 or dec 6. I am leaning towards nov 15 and have to call them tomorrow to reserve the surgery time. Wish me luck. I am very scared

10-16-2001, 09:12 PM
Brenda - you DO look good:)
I know I posted to you elsewhere about the surgery but now wanted to tell you of another friend(I'd forgotten) that had the surgery and she said too that she should have done it years ago.

Good luck:)

Do you suffer from back pain and all that I'd mentioned that my friend suffered with?

10-16-2001, 09:55 PM
Way to go Brenda

Just think....you'll probably lose several pounds too! ;)
I know this surgery is going to make you so much more comfortable. It's GOT to be hard with the bra straps. I'm a 40D and have to buy the bras with the wide padded straps. So I know how you feel. The only suggestion I would offer you is to make it as soon as possible because you've got Thanksgiving and X-mas coming up and you'll be sore. Just a suggestion. I'm excited for you but don't be scared. It's only a normal reaction, I understand that part.....but I'm sure you'll be in good hands. Just let them take care of you and when you get out......let everybody else take care of you and your kids. I really wish you well with this surgery and I just know in my heart that it IS the right thing for you. You lucky thing.......you!!!!!! Maybe if I lose the other 50 lbs. I have to go.....my boobs will get smaller?????!!!!!! Oh God! They would probably look like goats udders. I have my children to thank for that. Ah yes, the pleasures of breast feeding. NOT!!!!!! I USED to be a 36C and hope to return there some day.
Ok.....nuf 'bout boobs! :D

Hang in there and don't sweat it. You'll be fine.

As for me being fine on WW.....I've been a good girl. I even got my water in today. Just finished an italian ice and then I'm climbing into bed with a nice big cup of tea. I took a loooong shower tonight and can't get the chill out of my bones. It's humid outside and I guess that when I came home from riding ..... since I was very sweaty and hot and walked into the air-conditioning...that pretty much did it. So now I'm wearing FLANNEL PJ'S!!!!! LOL............IN FLORIDA!

Ok you guys....I'll "see" ya later.....have a good, good night.
Sweet dreams my friends.

10-16-2001, 10:34 PM
Pj, thanks for the words of encouragement, I really need it. I posted it here because I knew I would get the support I need. I am going to go with November 15 because it is a thursday and I will take thurs and fri off from work and go back mon-wed and then I will have thurs through sunday off for thanksgiving, I will need the time off I think. I am going to call and let them know tomorrow. I am scared but will definitely do it. I wear a 36DD right now and it is a bit too small. After the surgery I should be a small to medium C depending on how it goes, they have to take a certain ammount to have the surgery pay for it. He said you get a lift with it too so that will be awesome. He actually used the word perky. Sounds good to me.

Love Ya

10-17-2001, 11:33 AM
Perky lifted boobs? I am jealous! Like PJ's mine would look like goats udders!! Not just from breast feeding but from having this weight and the gravity thing!

Brenda...you will do fine..don't be scared! And as mentioned above...let everyone take care of you!

OK so where is everyone???

I gotta get back to work...you all need to come out and post!

10-17-2001, 01:42 PM
OH MAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!! - A lift tooooo????!!!!!! Not fair. I've wanted one of those for ages! Maybe next year. By then we'll both be "hotties". :D
Have a wonderful day everyone!

10-17-2001, 01:49 PM
Hi everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted. Just the regular day-in, day-out stuff keeping me from having time to post or even read much, but I did get in occasionally to read the posts.

My FIL goes Friday for his biopsy to make his diagnosis "official." They know this IS pancreatic cancer, but they have to do the biopsy to get the "proof" for medical records and insurance. He's starting some treatment also, but don't know how far he's going to go with it just yet. He's doing as well as can be expected; some good days, some bad. So, we are all just supporting him and letting him know we're there for him if he needs us.

You are a real trooper! Thanks for keeping us all going! Even if we all don't post, it's good to see you still here, plugging away, inspiring, and motivating others. Thanks for being a good friend. I had to laugh at your wearing flannel jammies! I've been wearing them some of these nights here for weeks!! As much as I hate being cold, those flannel jammies sure are comfy AND comforting! Ah!

You look mah-velous, dahling! Sounds like you made the right decision for yourself re: the surgery. I don't think many people understand the discomfort a lady with large breasts endures. All they (especially men! ) say are "Wow!" while you're saying "ouch!" My boobs have actually shrunk some since losing weight but I don't think any amount of loss is going to "perk" these babies back up. ;)

Love the pic of you and your pumpkin...and of your flowers. Hang in there, girl!

Michelle and Jen and all you other owlies--
Hello! I hope all is well with you!

I have to go now. I'm making flyers for our table for a fund raiser our hospital is participating in on Sunday for the Sept 11th Fund. One of the vet's I work with's sister is the neighbor of a pilot of one of the planes that hit the WTC. We are doing an "ask the vet" table and a raffle for some vet stuff.

Take care everyone! I'll check back in soon! (promise!)

10-17-2001, 06:48 PM
hi owls i KNOW i've been AWOL

glad to hear everyone's doing fine. i'm doing pretty good. me and dh went for ckups today and our doctor is sending me to a specialist for ?tmj? is that right. the left side of my jaw has been a little stiff and sore and my ear has bothered me plus i've had some awful headaches he said that the tmj would cause all of that so i'm going to a specialist on nov. 9 to see about that.

daddy is doing fair he's come down w/a cold and momma took him to the dr today and they're treating him for broncitis to keep it from going to pheumonia. other than that he's been doing really good.

dh lost 2lbs this week the knot head. i don't remember if i told you or not but he promised me (on his own i didn't ask) that he'd cut back on his drinking when i weighed what he did. he weighed 197 then now he's at 195 and i'm down too (drum roll please) 198.6 i still can't believe that when i see my sig. line under my name.

i like 4 lbs until i have a grand total of 100lbs gone.

my points dropped yesterday too, so next week i should catch up w/him because i've always had good losses when they dropped before. plus tom had arrived this past saturday and i still lost 1.4

well gotta go my FIL's birthday is today and we're going to see him.

talk to you owls later.

10-17-2001, 08:34 PM
Sorry I couldn't resist, LOL:lol:

Yes, I am excited about the surgery. Just scared that I won't wake up from the anastesia(sp?) It will be nice to have done and I am sure I will be very happy with it. There are risks and I pray to god that I don't have any of them I will be sore for 4-6 weeks but it is worth it.

Jennielou, I suffer from tmj on occasion. I am told that it is from clenching my jaw when I sleep. sometimes when I wake up my jaw is clenched so tight that it hurts. My pain goes up the side of my face through my jaw, it feels like a very thin hot pain, like a nerve or something.

Sorry about your FIL, that is so sad and hard to deal with. I am glad he has you to help him through it.

PJ, you are a riot, I am ROTFLMAO. Seriously, thanks for being there for me. It is nice to have you in my corner.

Michelle, so glad to see you on the boards. Thanks for the words of encouragement, it all helps sooooo much. Hope everything is going well for you.

Well gotta boogie,

10-18-2001, 09:15 AM
Good Luck Bren!!!!!!!! When someone said your face looks so thin I thought to myself i was not looking at the face with those Hooters jumping out at me!LOL You look good girl and I wear a 36 C and mine are like goats utters!!!!!:o :o :o

PJ...... How is the knee???????? My arm is not Fibro this time but I think the Fibro enhances the pain. It is a bad tendonitis!!!!!

Hi everyone else..still hurts to type!

I'm either plum tuckered out or in too much pain to post while in therapy! Today they told me some tof the exercises for my uper body I was doing are hurting my arm.......... This stinks!!! My son raked walnuts and leaves and I scooped the other day..all I can say is ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is by our well faucet by the rose bed....that is the cats ugly water bowl! I hope to put something else there next year!

10-18-2001, 09:25 AM
Here is a nice site..just beautiful!!!!!!!!!

10-22-2001, 08:55 AM
Candice[ - That really WAS a beautiful site. I sent it on to others on my e-mail list. Thanks for posting it. LOVE your pumpkins. We'll be going to pick ours out today. Billy is home sick with a fever, conjested cough and stuffy nose and Jackie is on her way to her usual hour ritual of fluffing her hair and changing her clothes a million times with her friend Vicki in her room. They don't have to be at school until 8:50am but you know how loooong it takes for 13 yr. olds to get ready.
I'll be back later, just wanted to stop in and say hello and wish you all a good start on this week.
See ya later,

10-23-2001, 10:38 PM
Candice - I just HAD to post the two emails you sent me tonight on my "Quotes page"........they were soooooo good. Thanks a million and keep 'em comin. :D

I'm getting another Standardbred. A gelding. No.......... my husband doesn't know yet. I'm going to look at him this weekend at the parade of horses in Ocala, Florida. I'll post a picture as soon as it is sent. Supposedly very soon (as in a few minutes). He's only been "off the track" for three weeks which makes him "bomb proof".

On another note....I had Billy home again today. Still throwing up until this afternoon but I think it was mostly from gagging on phlem. He now knows how to "spit" properly in the toilet. :o
We took his bunkbed down and he's very happy to sleep in his bed now. He's also FINALLY got THREE loose teeth. Time to pull out those "tooth fairy" bags I made. <grin>

I just finished having chicken strips from Publix (grocery store) with some macaroni salad. I also had two pecan sandie cookies this afternoon and two Corona beers on the patio a little while ago. NOW.....to figure out what my points were. AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Here's hoping you all have a great evening........

10-24-2001, 12:09 AM
Just got the picture of my new horse (hopefully).....His name is "Ah yes" and he's a 7 year old gelding only three weeks off the track. I'm so excited. Missy will now have a buddy all her own. I'm driving up on Sunday to meet him and make sure we "click" first. Have a good night and sweet dreams everyone.

10-24-2001, 01:30 PM
Oh where have all the owls gone?

DO they fly south for the winter? They must all be at PJ's house!

PJ and Candice look lonely in here!!

I didnt' get to weigh in on sunday because I was hit leaving work Thursday afternoon and didn't have a car. I would have had to take john to work at 6 am and I didn't feel like it...it's a 30 minute ride each way down the turnpike. I will just have to wait till this sunday...he is off. His friend is going to let him use his extra car till we get ours back....I just have to cook him dinner. What a deal! I will just use the truck...its a 4x4 dodge dakota...they drive like tanks! But I don't have to go far anyway....

Well...I am off to lunch now...I have shrimp cocktail....yummy!

Talk at you all later! Michelle K

10-24-2001, 03:27 PM
All right, PJ, now you've got my attention! What a dirty trick putting a picture of a pretty horsey up to get me to post! Just kidding!

He's a handsome devil, though. You said that he's 3 weeks off the track? Wouldn't he be more "hot" right now than "bomb proof"? So Missy might get a new buddy, eh? That's neat! Lucky you!

Irish and I went for a trail ride on Sunday and BOTH of us had a blast! He LOVES going for trail rides. It's the most pep in his step we ever see. Supposed to get colder by this weekend. Phooey! This has been beautiful riding weather. In my ebay travels, I won an almost new Mountain Horse coat for myself to be toasty warm when it gets cold at the farm. Those babies retail for $250 and I won it for $70. Yeeee-hah! AND get this....size? Large! Not "plus size" not "XXL" or even "XL"..fits perfect! ...woo-hoo! I'm down 65 pounds now.

Ok, gotta run for now!
Ally :)

10-24-2001, 09:04 PM
Hi everyone. I have lurked but not posted in a while. My excuse: nothing good enough to make myself come out looking good, here!

I just wanted to say hi and let you know that I am still here. Life is busy. Steve is not doing very well. I miss Mike at college (although he does come home with a ton of dirty laundry every 2-3 weeks) and I'm way too old to be the mother of a 9 year old boy!

Pamela, I am so glad you came out of your car accident (I actually cried as I read about that). I should have written to you. I'm sorry.

Tara, I'm glad your daddy is doing some better. I had one of those difficult relationships with my father and I was just like you.... loving him and getting along with him weren't always easy to do at the same time! I miss him and I know how you feel, honey.

Ally, I know you don't really know me, but I'm so happy that you and Pamela share your love for horses.

Jenni, that pumpkin recipe sounds wonderful. I think I'll try it. I also suffer from TMJ and get horrendous headaches. I wear a specially made night guard to keep me from grinding.

Candice, my lack of a green thumb would make you nuts! I kill even silk plants! Your pics are gorgeous.

BREN... momma owl, I wish you well with your surgery. I think I'll be kicking mine before I turn 50. Remember every detail. Your pic is gorgeous. I love the hair.

Michelle, congratulations on that huge weight loss! I am thrilled for you doing that in only one week!

Jill and Ms Chubby, it's nice to meet you. I used to be a very dedicated nightowl. I broke my wing I guess and it's harder to get back to the nest than it used to be.

Well you guys.....it's good to see you. Don't faint that I'm still here! Anyone talking to Setina, send her my love.

10-25-2001, 02:52 AM
Judy - "Pamela, I am so glad you came out of your car accident (I actually cried as I read about that). I should have written to you. I'm sorry. "

Oh my God Judy, you've got me in tears just thinking about making you upset. I'm so sorry......I'm ok and have a new Hyundai Sonata...NOT A TRUCK....I have three that Lee said I could "access" any time I needed so that was that. Enough trucks, 4WD and whatever for me for a while. I'm just feeling really bad about making YOU feel so bad. I'm sorry and really....I'm just fine.

You will all have to excuse me tonight as I'm soooo tired and can hardly keep my eyes open.

Sweet Dreams to all of you....

PJ... I also have the Sonata. It gets great mileage. It's 2:30 in the morning here and I'm up with bronchitis. I've got a dr appt this morning and I'll probably take off Thurs and Friday. Thank goodness for fax machines because I can just fax my lesson plans in.
