started reductil this week
Hi am new to this site, my name is Denise I am from australia and have started reductil to supress my appetite. My problem is i am on a low fibre and low residue diet for life, not much veggies or fruit and no wholegrains and only 5 small meals a day which i was finding so hard and was making me so grumpy, so i have been put on reductil to supress appetite and doing some hypnotherapy, i will always be on low fibre low residue diet due to bowel obstructions. Would like to hear from anyone about reductil and whether it made them feel full quicker and supress the appetite. Look forward to hearing from you all

Welcome to UK Fat Chicks
I'm not on Reductil but I just thought I'd answer your post so you don't think you're being ignored.
Good luck with the Reductil and I can imagine getting grumpy about being on such a restrictive diet - its almost the exact opposite of mine!

Hi
I too have started Reductil today. I have been overweight for about 5 years now. Packed up smoking 3 months ago and tended to comfort eat, so Dr suggested I try Reductil. Took my first one this morning.
Things I have noticed:
slight spaced out feeling
Racing heart after a cup of tea
general feeling of cant be bothered to eat.
I hope to lose around 5 stone and stay off cigarettes.
Good luck to all
Sand

Hey sand
I started reductil on thursday and i have some weird thigns going on too. I had dry mouth & feeling sicky so far , but ive also suffered last night with a bad headache , i had a temp of a 100 i was hot and cold and this mornign i woke up with diarahh , I think its the pills and a bug mixed together im not really sure .
I would keep an eye on youself as the racing heart sounds like it could be a side affect and you might need to go have a chat with your dr. I am laying off them today and see if i still feel ill if so im going to my dr tommorow to check this is normal.
Good luck
Teresa

I'm not going to take any more Reductil, had a terrible time yesterday, with racing heart and palpitations. I also had quite bad shortness of breath, this was enough to convince me to stop any more as I have lung disease. Looks like I am going to have to find a huge amount of will power!
Anybody had any experience with Xenical? I dont eat large amounts of fat so wonder if it would work with me, My problem is carbs.......I adore pasta potatoes and bread.
Thanks

Hey sandie
As i said in my PM Xenical is fine aslong as you dont eat a lot of fat the only bad side affect with that is oily poo and the odd leaky fart sorry for tmi but that is the worse of the side affects if your fat intake is very low and you stick to a low fat diet you will be fine , only thing i found with xenical is after a few months the weight seems to stop moving but thats for me personally everyone might be different.

Sand - if you decide to not bother with the Reductil then don't give up on weight loss completely - just join us on our Easter Challenge - there are loads of us here (me!!) who love carbs and who are in the same boat as you.

I had great success with Reductil
Hi all I was prescribed 2 years ago and I had excellent success with it I went from 15 stones 4 pounds to 10st 4 lbs over 6 months..whilst taking it I went walking for 1-2 hours 5 days a week and followed a low fat eating plan I counted calories (1500 daily ) and kept track of what I was eating in a food diary.
The only trouble was is that after a few months of being slimmer I slipped back into old eating habits and managed to gain 3 of the 5 stones I'd lost.
My Doctor had now given me Reductil again and I'm going to follow my original weight loss plan, only this time I'll learn from my mistakes and won't allow myself to go back to over eating again..unfortunatly I'm one of these people who really has to watch their diet and keep myself active....so good luck to all taking Reductil ..it does work if you have the motivation ...just don't do what I did and let yourself get back into old habits .. lol

Reductil ® is a weight-loss aid recommended for overweight people with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or for overweight people with a BMI of 27 or higher if they have additional risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol.
If Reductil doesn't work for you, you can try Xenical
All the best.
