Just a quick Howdy before gearing up for a long day. Night class tonight. Today is the opening of our Student Competitive Art Exhibition. A big project that I have been working on for ages. It'll be a blast, the students are excited, it is kind of like a big party. The show looks good, just a few last minute details to attend to before 2.

Food has been great for the last 2 days. When I have food prepared it is like day and night sticking with this. The great thing about PMD is how easy it is to fall into the mindset of it when you have the time to prepare for it.

D and I may go out of town this weekend for a pre-b'day shopping trip. D will be 17 in next week. If she doesn't have tests Fri., I think we'll take the day off so we can head out for a long weekend.

Hi ladies,

How is everyone doing? Ledom, it sounds like so much fun.....and then to spend a mother/daughter day out. I have something wonderful to tell ya'll since ya'll have been so supportive and encouraging. Today I reached my goal weight of 120 lbs. I lost a total of 90 lbs since about this time last May. I weighed 210 lbs then....and have been as heavy as 230. I went shopping this weekend, and bought a pair of Liz Claiborne jeans in a size 4. I took a size 8 in the dressing room, but it was too big. I then took a size 6 which was still a little too big. I want to thank ya'll for being such great friends. Just reading everyone's posts was very encourgaging. Other than that, things are pretty normal...long hours at work. I have managed to exercise though. I started doing the Taebo tapes....very strenuous. I needed a change. I'm planning on taking English riding lessons this spring since horses are my passion. Hope everyone is doing to ya'll later.

What an amazing and awe inspiring change you have made in your life. My hat is off to you. And then some! I can only imagine how fabulous you must be feeling. No whining, no moaning no groaning, you JUST DID IT!!!!!!!

02-21-2001, 06:52 PM
Fantastic!!!! That's so exciting, shebacat! Not to mention inspiring. :D I had no idea you'd come so far. 'Course, I haven't been here that much, so how would I know?

I'm so happy for you, shebacat!

Hey guys! Shebacat, you are a celebrity, did you see the thread addressed to you? I hope you tell your story there because I want to read it! Before and after stories are my favorites.

judi, DH is home now isn't he? Bet you guys have a lot of catching up to do.

Donna, my home computer crashed when I tried to download the pic so I will check it out at work next week.

After lots of overtime the last couple weeks, I am taking a long weekend. D and I will head out of town this afternoon when she gets out of school. Looking forward to some R&R as well as shopping. Hope to see that new movie everyone is raving about "Crouching Tiger, Sleeping Dragon".

02-23-2001, 12:35 AM
Good morning ladies,

Hi Ledom, yes DH is home and is taking some days off. We have been busy doing this and that.

I made him your Mexican dish and he LOVED it and he isn't much of a Mexican food fan (I am though).

Let us know what the movie is like. We are going to see "Hannibal" this weekend.

The snow is finally going. Yahoo! Can't wait until spring!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I stayed the same weight this week. (pooh, pooh) There is no getting around it, I have to make exercise a consistent part of my life. Food wise, I have gotten accustomed to being within my points. It is just the exercise thing!!

02-23-2001, 01:28 AM

I don't want to crash your work computer, too! I'll email it to you when I get home.

02-23-2001, 12:29 PM
Hi ladies,

Thanks for all the congrats! I really do feel much control of my life instead of the other way around. My next thing is a makeover. Then I'll have to take pictures so I can see the before/after look. Ledom, thanks for pointing out the thread. I'll have to sit down and write out my story to post. I'll try to do it this weekend, but I have to work at both jobs on Saturday. The friend I went shopping with on Sunday has lost about 65 lbs since last year. She wanted to get down to 150 lbs (she's at 158 today), and down to a size 12. After she saw me get into a size 4, she called me up to tell me that I had inspired her to get to a size 10 and 140 lbs. I really appreciate all of your support on this thread. I know we don't always talk about diet/weight loss, and that is what I like. I consider ya'll friends and not just weight loss buddies. Well, got to go get some sleep. Talk to ya'll later.

02-23-2001, 06:17 PM
I'm looking forward to reading your story, shebacat!

02-25-2001, 10:35 PM
Bannod, Your grandaughter is a living doll. Bet you can't wait to see her again.

shebacat, I know exactly what you mean about posting about other things than the diet. If that is all you focus on, you soon run out of things to say. But let me tell you; you, and your friend, are inspiring me to quit fooling around and get serious about what I am doing. Both of your numbers are impressive.

D and I had a great getaway. I bought some books at my favorite used book store, but the big purchase was some new exercise shoes. My Nikes had begun to squeeze my toes on one foot and I was developing a foot problem that was getting in my way. Got some New Balance shoes that have a wider toe box. I wore them all day yesterday and they were so comfortable I didn't have the urge to take them off until bedtime.

Guess I'll got to the store this afternoon when D gets around and can go with me. We both came back from our trip in the mood to get toned up for summer, so I think we'll be eating lots of salads, etc. I am planning to reread the diet today. 4 fruits, 5 vegs. a day, my mantra for the week.

02-25-2001, 11:28 PM
Hello dear girlfriends,

Sorry I haven't posted in so long. DH was away this week and between working on kids science projects and after school activities, I was tired at nite, and didn't feel like posting... altho I was lurking... and read about all your good news...

Shebacat......WHOA!!!!!!! 120 LBS!!!! Isn't that wonderful. It has given me incentive once again... :D

I was doing well I even was down 2 lbs this week, to 157, then DH went away for 2 nights and I ate at my mother's one night, and blew my resolve right there and then....What is it about going back home that makes me resort to eating the way I did when I lived there??? I will have to ponder that question, and stop those habits.

Other than that, the week has flown by... Spring is NOT around the corner here, we woke up to freezing rain this morning, but now it's only rain... well maybe that will melt the snow we have...

I will keep in touch more often this week, and you girls take care and stay OP, as the saying goes.....

P.S.: Donna, what a beautiful baby she is!!
Now I'd love to see a pic of you...

Hey gals!

I don't mind folks being off-topic at all. We're just sitting around chatting. Sorta like the HBO show 'Sex and the City', but without the sex!

Thanks for the nice things y'all said about my granddaughter. I think she's awfully cute, but I might be just a little bit prejudiced. :D

I've been cooking and shopping today. Went to the grocery store this morning and boosted the $$ total way up with some supplements. I bought a bottle of glucosamine-chondrointin tabs and a daily antioxidant multivitamin/multimineral supplement. I'm adding these to my "old lady" lineup of estrogen, diuretic, and thyroid meds.

I spent the early afternoon grilling chicken, onions and zucchini (sp?) and cooking rice for this weeks dinners. The last few weeks I've been cooking arborio and basmati rice, but this week I cooked regular white rice. It tastes quite 'blah' compared to the other two.

It's hard for me to eat right when I get home if I actually have to cook it. I've been known on quite a few occasions to dump some fishsticks on a plate, nuke em, and pour ranch dressing on top. Voila, dinner. :(

This afternoon I went to Drug Emporium and Walgreens to buy some new makeup for when I get my new eyes. I got something by St. Ives called Dark Circle Diminisher (with vitamin-K). I hope it works, cuz my dark circles are gonna show when I don't wear glasses any more. I also got a way totally cool product called Skinlights Face Illuminator by Revlon. I love what it does for my complexion! I also got some new makeup brushes, tweezers, and eye makeup. A totally girly-girl afternoon.

Our weather is shaping up nicely. Trees are leafing out and the flowering ones are in bloom.

Okay, for those of you who want to see pictures, there's an old one of me on the welcome page at my website. I also just uploaded a picture of ledom and myself taken when we met in Austin in August of 99. My hair is longer now - cut in a chin-length bob.

As you can see by all the edits, my fingers aren't working too well this afternoon. ;)

Hi girls!

No weight loss to report here. :( Just the loss of weight loss information. I had a problem with my computer and lost my year and half record of my weight loss effort. I was trying to install Windows 2000 but my laptop is too old and the driver wouldn't support it and swoosh...things were gone and I had to reinstall Windows 98.

Leodm, I have New Balance shoes too and really like them. I wear them shopping. I can walk for a long time if I have them on.

My DH is going back to work tomorrow. We will have a hard time getting up at 4:30 tomorrow. We have been sleeping in and taking it easy. It has been nice.

Shebacat, I too am looking forward to hearing your story.

Ledom when you get a minute can you post the Posole recipe. No rush if you are still busy though.

02-27-2001, 08:10 AM
Hi ya girls,

I've had a good day all around....

Exercise was good, and food was good too... but not too good that I ate too much of

I forgot to mention that I made a vegetarian chili on the weekend... It was very good...very healthy tasting... I took it in a cookbook called LoonySpoons, all kinds of interesting tid-bits on diet and many recipes that are easy to make and very calorie wise... This one is called's written by 2 Canadian sisters ...

Donna I didn't find any pics of you .... can you direct me in the right direction..... :)

Is it because I am Canadian, but what is Posole? It it's calorie wise and easy to make I'd love to try it...

Well later girls, hope to hear from every one soon...

Have a good evening....

02-27-2001, 08:14 AM
OK Judi, I'll post it over on the Vegetarian thread so it'll be easier to pull up in the future. Hope everyone is doing good. I have had a good start to my week dietwise. Keep thinking about what you did Shebacat, you're my inspiration. Sounds like you had fun shopping Bannod, good luck with your surgery.

02-27-2001, 09:18 AM
Yup Lana, it is because you are Canadian...I am Canadian too and the first time I heard of it was when I was on holiday in New Mexico awhile back. Before that I would come across the word in a (American) recipe book and wonder about it. I think it is a corn type thing that the Native Americans ate. Is that right Ledom???? I am hoping I will be able to find it in a health food store in Vancouver. I have long wanted to try it but never have.

Thanks very much Ledom. The recipe looks DELISH!!! And any enlightenment on the orgin of posole would be appreciated as well.

Thanks again !!

Dear Bannod (Goddess):

Re Lasik eye surgery

*Please be very careful* and check out before you do anything further.
This *is* surgery on the only two eyes you have and the outcome can be questionable.

Colour me concerned :^: (and also a glasses wearer since 8 yrs. old)

03-06-2001, 11:21 PM
Thank you for being concerned, Mrs. Yogi. :)

My doctor is very good. He didn't pioneer the technique, but he was one of the first to offer the Lasik surgery. He's done thousands of them and every one has been successful. The worst one ended up having to wear contacts and he considers himself lucky because he's a pilot and with glasses he wasn't correctable enough to fly anymore.

My surgeon has 17 people working in his office. Of those, one still wears glasses, one of the ophthalmologists wears contacts because her corneas are too thin for Lasik, and the rest have had the surgery. Boy, do I wish *I* had an employee discount!

I can't even count the number of people I know that have had it done and are very happy with it.

If I wasn't a perfect candidate for this, no way would I have it done!
