I made a HUGE mistake last night. I watched 'Cheaper By the Dozen'. It was great. Unfortunately I spent the rest of the night being sad that I don't have 12 kids. I must be insane... 3 is good, 3 is good, 3 is good... I never wanted 12, but I did want 8, then 6, once I had a c-section it changed to 4 and now here I am with 3 and don't know if there will be more or not.. I'm such a dork.

ANyway. Eating was not the best over the weekend, but not too bad. I got seriously stressed with getting in end of the month orders and ate a whole Dark chocolate bar and several brownies again. I told Travis not to come home with brownie mix again or I would lock him out.

I'm not sure if I'll make it to the Y. Jake has a runny nose, and we have no clean laundry. And Weight watcehrs should be after that. We'll see..

Good morning ladies. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

We shopped from 10:00 to 4:30 Saturday. My DD got a new job and has not "grown-up clothes" She wears scrubs now. I did get some new jeans (smaller size) and a couple of shirts, but she was the big shopper. We all got some shoes at Zappos.

Yesterday, we volunteered at the breast cancer store for 4 hours. We mostly folded shirts.

Eating was good. MMM has me the same as last Monday. Ugh. At WW I had lost 6/10 of a lb but still at my same number on my scale.

Talitha, I read that book when I was a young girl and swore I would adopt a child one day. That didn't happen. But it was my favorite book. With the expense of raising children today, I don't think people can afford that many kids. You have three healthy, happy children to enjoy and love. You are very lucky.

That's all for me today. Off to read last weekends posts and hopefully will be back.

Good morning,

We had a good weekend. We had a gathering at a friend's house on Sat and Sun was mainly spent at home. There is so much to do around the house so I better get started once I finished posting here.

I have no clue what we are going to have for lunch and dinner so that is not good but will try to make something healthy. Some replies :

MONET : Good morning, thanks for starting the board. Hope you had a great weekend :)

TALITHA : I came from a family of 6 so I love a big family but not for myself though. With 2, I can make it but with 3 or more, I will probably "survive" but I do not want to survive, I want to enjoy parenthood so I am very content with 2 but dh is another story...lol. Have you seen the story in Discovery Channel where this couple had 16 kids and still hoping for more?? It was very interesting and the mom homeshool all of them. I salute her :)

SOLLY : Good morning!! Sounds like you had a good shopping trip and also getyour exercise in while doing it :) Have a good day!!

The rest of the gang, have a good day. I have to start doing some cleaning and tdying around the house, see you guys later.

AFTERNOON EVER BUDDY!!

Just got back from the Doc about my knee. Had Xrays done this morning but the results weren't available yet. He doesn't think I broke it again, but it's definatly sprained really bad. No brace like before yet, but I'm to call later this afternoon for the results to see if he wants anything else done.
Took the ESCUSE to my BOSS...two weeks with my leg up. She didn't like that too much, and wanted to know why I couldn't just come to work and prop it up there. I told her he would evulate it again in two weeks and we would go from there. SO...Here I am and have no excuse not to post constantly for the next two weeks!

TALITHA...Love that movie...did you watch the original or the one with Steve Martin? Both are good, but you should see if you can get the original
and watch that one. It's great! Three is enough...You're a good Mother, and believe me, you'll find out with the MUNCHKIN starts to walk that THREE IS ENOUGH!!

JACK..That's power shopping...Did you go to the FASHION SHOP?? I just love that place and miss having one available. KOHL'S was advertising a good sale...did y'all hit that store? We don't have one here, but there is one opening in Brandon...45 minutes away.

JULIA...GET TOGETHERS are fun...Glad you had a good time!

I'm off to see what I can hobble into...I'll be back later

Here's the link to the DIRECT WEBCAM of the WATERING HOLE IN AFRICA
It's so interesting to watch these animals...it's now after 7p.m. there and getting dark, but you can still see. I check it all the time to see what's going on.

Hey, guys. Not alot going on, just working. I didn't make it OP thru the weekend. But I did better than in the past. The suit I'm wearing is slightly looser on me than it was a couple weeks ago, so that's good. I'll probably wait until Wednesday to weigh. Don't really have much to say. Just checking in. You guys have a great SBering day!

Hey Everyone:

I hope you had a good weekend. I don't even know where to start. I have had a stressful few weeks. We are going to have to get rid of the puppy, and my girls are very sad, and so am I. Our older dog is not taking well to her and not eating well. The puppy has also shown a few signs of aggressiveness, and my vet told me that these dogs tend to be a little aggressive. I found a great home for her, but she won't be picked up until this weekend.

To tell you the truth, I am exhausted...it's like having a baby again and getting up with her throughout the night, as well as Lane (when she wakes up with bad dreams or whatever) is wearing me out!! Our home was hectic enough without adding another dog. I forgot how much work a puppy could be.

On top of that.....last Sunday my DH was in a car wreck, and could have very well been hurt or killed. The traffic came to a complete stop in front of him, and he steered to avoid it and ended up in the median of the freeway skidding all over the place. He ran into the cables which eventually caused him to stop. He did $6,300 in damage to the vehicle, but we wont' have it fixed because the truck is only worth $1,000. It is a '98 Explorer with 270,000 miles on it. He had the bare minimum worth of work done on it, and will drive it a bit longer, I guess.

THEN, the Tuesday after that, I was following a woman on a dirt road near our house, and she felt I was following her too close, and slammed on her brakes, which caused me to rear-end her. We were only going about 10 mph, so no damage to my vehicle, and only very minor to hers (which I think might have been there beforehand). I got out of my vehicle and very sympathetically apologized. She and the guy with her started yelling profanities at me and causing a scene. My girls were crying hysterically in the vehicle thinking I might get hurt. I then went to give them all of my insurance info., and she told me that she called the cops and I'd have to wait. At this point, Britt is late to school, and Lane and I haven't had BF yet. I waited 40 minutes for the cop to get there, and say, "typically, in these situations, people just exchange insurance info and go on their way....but since I am here, I have to write you a ticket for not controlling your speed." Now, I'm going to have to go to court to fight it since she actually caused it by slamming on her brakes to PROVE a point.

I also am still in the midst of all this MRI, biopsy stuff, and kinda in limbo with that.

I got down to 117# by the weekend, and have been eating everything in sight to get back up. Today, I was at 119#, which I am fine with. I don't want to lose anymore weight...I just want to maintain. When I am stressed, I lose my appetite and forget to eat. So, after the few weeks we had, I wasn't eating much.

Anyhow, I hope to get back on a little more regularly once we get this puppy settled into her new home, and my life back to some sort of sanity.

I hope you all have a great OP day!!

I only have a few minutes before I have to head out to a meeting for elders and their wives. I just finished the salad I was supposed to bring so I have a few minutes.

I had my doctor's appointment today. My A1c, which is THE test of how well your diabetes is controlled, came back at 6.1...a three point drop from 9 three months ago. Levels up to 6.0 are considered normal. Diabetics are urged to keep theirs lower than 7.5 and 7 ideally, so I am lower than that even. Yay! The doctor told me most people gain 5 pounds for each point the A1c comes down, so last time, when mine dropped 5 points and I was the same weight, it was like losing 25 really. This time, I was down 10, so with the three point drop, it was actually like losing 25 again. Won't it be nice if the trend continues and I can actually see that 25 pound loss on the scale and not just on paper! haha! They changed my meds some, and I am going to try to do without the glimiperide, which stimulates insulin secretion and makes it hard to lose weight. I am hoping for good progress in the next few months!

Gotta go! I will check in later!

MOnet: That is GREAT news about the numbers. You've worked really hard and have been very diligent and you deserve the satisfaction, to say the least.

Nat: People are SUCH JERKS!! I have a very similar story. YOu might like it, actually, as you can relate. I was VERY pregnant with Shelley and late for a Dr. appointment. I was in the fast lane, going 60 in a 55 because the guy hogging the fast lane wouldn't go any faster and was slowing down because I was on his tail a bit. Well, he SLAMMED on his brakes, I SLAMMED on mine and came within inches of his bumper. So, I managed to get around him, and as I was passing him, I could see from the corner of my eye he was giving me the New Jersey State Bird ;), but I was looking straight ahead, puffing and panting and rubbing my VERY pregnant stomach and getting off at the hospital exit (my drs office was conveniently at the hospital)...so this guy must have eaten some real crow for trying to get in an accident with a woman 'in labor' and heading for the hospital. I figure that little display taught him a better lesson than flipping him off and getting red in the face (like I wanted to do) that sometimes people are in a hurry and it's nothing personal, JUST GET OUT OF THE WAY, JERK! Hugs and prayers to you that that rather large black cloud that seems to have settled upon you and your family drifts away sooner than later.

Laurie:

Toni: :carrot: Yay! One pound off is better than one pound on!!

BOB:  After all those kudos at work...you've been doing so well. And you don't want to go altering doctor's orders...if he says stay home, stay home.

Julia: Sounds like a nice, well rounded weekend! :)

Solly: That is some SERIOUS power shopping. :fr:

Talitha: 12 kids would send me to my grave. Besides, it's a movie and not to be taken as what it would be REALLY like to have 12 kids. Bob's right..wait till Lucas is walking and re-evaluate your brood you have now...it may seem like you have 12 by then!!

Well, I'm sitting here eating dinner, italian sausage sauteed in onions, green peppers and garlic and I can't believe the new depths that evil has come to in this world that someone could go into an Amish school and do what happened today. I know that all of the school shootings are horrible...but an AMISH SCHOOL? One little girl was SIX years old. I'm just gutted by it. I know, we don't usually discuss current events here too often...it's just on my mind.

I mowed the lawn today and trimmed down the dead things in my garden today. I was nice to get outside. Its been coldish and rainy a little too much for me lately. But the lawn was way overgrown and now it looks much better. I'd like to see the kids play back there more often, but it's always kinda spidery and Junior tends to hurd the kids around when they get moving around running and things...so it's a bit of a drag.

Anyhow...didn't get my walk in today, but I did manage to walk to the bank, post office and then to school to pick up the kids. I REALLY cute foreign guy sort of cut me off at the bank. He had french words all over his shirt, so I suspect he was Canadian from Quebec or something. He went to the teller right in front of me and asked if he could get money from his credit card and then the teller left and he said to me...."Oh, did I cut you off?" and I'm like..."Um....I think so.... ...it's okay..." He had longish brown hair in a ponytail and looked like he jumped off the cover of a romance novel! He apologized...I think.

So, I have some dished to clean and some crocheting to get to. I made a little hat for Derek's friend that had another grandaughter. And Kyle's teacher had a baby (well, his wife did), so, Monet, I think I'm going to start a new blanket for Kaeleb. I have to get this one done and to the teacher before anyone else gives him a baby present. You know how it goes. So, I'm going to go to Walmart Friday and pick out another cool yarn for an accent that I've been thinking about for this pattern. It'll be cool.

Well, the dishes aren't gonna wash themselves...:(

Ok gals....I just basically copied and pasted the e-mail I send to all of my e-mail list - this is what happened today "in a nutshell." Is that how the expression is used?

Here it goes......

I just wanted to fill everyone in on the latest news. We went to court this morning for the permanency hearing for Alexis. At the hearing, the parents stated that they wanted to surrender their parental rights. This is very good news for us! Since this came out of nowhere – the social worker told them to think things through…and she would discuss their final decision with them at the October 27th parent visit. If they stick to this plan, they have to have 2 counseling sessions, then if they still want to surrender, they sign the papers and she will be freed for adoption. At this point, Alexis goes into the Adoption section of social services and we will be able to adopt her hopefully within the year – they say 6 – 12 months. Basically, my social worker said that if everything goes as planned – she may be officially ours by next summer. If they decide to NOT surrender, then we wait 6-12 months for a termination hearing and then another 6 – 12 months for the adoption. So, if they surrender it will take some major time off of the plan and things will be much smoother and easier on everyone!

I just wanted to thank all of you for all of the prayers! Hopefully one day all of this will be finalized – at that point we will have one huge PARTY!!! I’ll keep y’all posted!

I don't have time to post individually tonight...but I'll be back tomorrow!!!

FRUIT:  That is awesome! I hope they stick to the decision and things go quickly for you!

PANCHO:  You are in my prayers...

Just got in from the meeting and I am exhausted. The dinner was an Italian bean soup, and delicious. I did eat one roll, which was white, and a small slice of the apple cake. I passed on the salad I made because salad after a Byetta shot makes me nauseaous. I was anyway, but not as bad as if I had salad.

LOL- You guys are all so funny with the kids comments. I was jsut relatiing the emotional response. I'm from a family of 10, remember? I'm WELL aware of how unrealistic it is, but it sure was fun. I have NO intention of having any more for a long time, if ever. That movie wasn't anything CLOSE to what it really was like ( except for the 2 washers and dryers in the laundry room :o ) I'll let my sister carry on the big family legacy. She's pregnant with #6 and has no intention of stopping.

I lost another pound and a half this week. And I cheated a good bit over the weekend. I've decided to write down all of my foods the whole week and exercise 4 times instead of 2-3. I'm hoping to have a good drop and get myself in the 180's. I'm goign with my good friend to the WW meetings now and I think it's really going to help. AND we're going at night so that I'm not lugging the kids along.

Ok, I've got a crazy busy day. TTYL

Hi ladies,

I couldn't wait to come here. You all are my escape. I am so frustrated with work. They way they do things here, drives my crazy. Can't go into it now. Not like I'm going to leave, since I have been here 34 years. So it is good to come here to my friends.

It was so beautiful here yesterday (and today) that we skipped the gym and DD & I walked 3 miles. Then I did a couple exercises on the ball. That was entertaining.

Tonight we will go to the gym. With going away this weekend, I need to get in as much exercise as I can. I am worried about eating. I am taking dressing for salads with me and I think I will take some ww mini bagels and cream cheese for breakfast instead of eating out.

BOB, No, didn't get to Fashion Shop. They closed the one in the mall and moved it across the street and now it is a "Mr B's" & Fahsion Shop. It is sorta junky. I ran in their a couple weeks ago and couldn't see anything, but some socks.

Nat, I am so sorry for all your troubles right now. Those barriers really do save lives. Good luck in court, I think you have a good case. There is just no reason for people to be so nasty. Sending prayers for your biopsy, please keep me posted. I am sick about the Penn shooting too. I guess we will have to put metal detectors in all schools and keep them in lock down to keep them safe.

Toni, Yeah on the 1 lb. Moving in the right direction.

Monet, congrats on such a good dr's report. Hoping this starts moving the scale for you. I wish I had some of that bean soup. I have been craving it.

Heartmom, Loser is good. In fact, I like it better than the stupid scale. I am down a size and liking it.

Tech, I got a good laugh about the guy at the bank. You and I live in the same world.

Missy, I am so happy for you. I sent you an email.

Gator, how is the plumbing coming.

Talitha, going to the meetings with a friend, will be a big help. Don't you write in the tracker? It is like my bible. I write down even the day after. Congrats on your loss.

Guess I had better get busy, as much as I don't want to. Be back later.

I was in the middle of a post last night when poof! it just disappeared! My little girl (who is not little anymore) snagged a lead snowflake part for the nutcracker. She and her best friend will be the leads and then will also be angels during one performance. I am proud of her!:D

Sean's school is having homecoming this week, so we have a bonfire on Thursday night and then the game on Friday. about 12 of his friends and he have decided to skip the dance on Saturday and go to the movies instead. Sounds like a plan to me! We also have a band exhibition tonight, so busy week!

Well, I'll go now. Have a great day!!

Good morning! I had intended to get up and walk first thing. Unfortunately, my knee had other ideas. I am babying it and hoping I can get enough stiffness and soreness out of it to walk later this morning.

I forgot to mention my great find yesterday. On my way home from the doctor's office, I was on my way to Costco and decided to stop in at Hobby Lobby and get some yarn. I checked their clearance area, and low and behold, there was about 50 sheets of my pastel paper! I talked to the manager and she sold me 20 sheets for $2.25 each...which was pretty good since the regular price is $8 a sheet! The color selection was not great, but for that price, I did not care. Now if I can just do a few paintings and sell them, I will be able to re-coop the cost. Art is awfully expensive. :(

THIN: Congrats to Rachel! That is wonderful! Have fun with the homecoming festivities! My kids went to a few homecoming dances and only one of them ever had a good time, so the movies sound like a good idea!

SOLLY:  I am sorry things are frustrating for you...

TALITHA: Let me know when you are up for a WF, of DFM trip.

TECH: When you find dishes that will wash themselves, let me know! I want some!

TONI: Congrats on that pound gone! Slow is good!

BOB: Darlin', what ARE we gonna do with you? I am so sorry you hurt your knee. Please post a lot...we need a good week on here. ;) Four pages a week is pitiful. I wonder where Susan has gotten to? We got off the x-way on the way home in Gainesville Saturday night...BIG mistake. The traffic was horrendous and I was scared of the folks in the store we went into. If I had been wearing the wrong color (ie crimson..) do you think they might have eaten me or something? Instead of getting gas and food there, we just got right back on 75, and headed up north a ways before stopping again.

That is it for me...I am off to see what mischief I can get into ...

Yawnnn...Chris woke up at 5.30 am screaming this morning and then decided that he had enough of sleep. He is down for his morning nap now and I am a little tired but I can't take nap. I haven't been able to do it for years...well, more like since I had Jess. Some replies :

BOB : Hope the result comes back okay, nothing broken or serious. {{{hugs}}} Take care now!!

TONI : WTG on the 1 lb loss!! You are doing great!

HEART : Have a good day!

PANCHO : {{{{hugss}}}}} I wish I can be there to give you a big hug myself. I am so sorry for all the things you and your family had gone thru. I am so glad your dh is safe despite the horrible accident. That must shook all of you up. I will keep you all in my prayers. Take care of yourself okay?

MONET : Woo hoo!!! Congrats on a great A1C result. I haven't check mine since I conceived Chris but will do that on my annual check up soon. You are doing so good, what an inspiration!!

TECH : I am so sad with the news and cannot begin to express how disgusted I am with what is going around us. Those poor babies and their families. I am going to hug my kids more today :) Tech, if I get cut off by a guy that looks like he jumps our of a romance story book, I would be smilling too...LOL.

FRUIT : Woo Hoo...great news. I sure hope the parents did what they said they will do for the sake of their child. Thank you for the update!

TALITHA : WTG on the weight loss. Good job! Have a good day!

SOLLY : Sorry you are frustrated, glad you are here :) Wow, 34 years with a same company? WTG!

THIN : Congrats on Rachael's getting the parts. She must be very talented.

Time to go, maybe I can lay down and take a little rest time before Chris wakes up. Good day all!

Just a quick post. I'm off to get a permanet on my icky straight hair. This week will be hectic as I have to pack and get ready for the kids. I'm so excited about my trip to Texas. Wish we had more time instead of just the week end. But really I'm grateful for that. Eating has been fine. I made chicken stir fry for dinner last night. Think I'm getting tired of that. I might make stuffed mushrooms tonight with crab for dinner. I would use a whole wheat stuffing with that. I haven't done well on the treadmill this week. I so need to get back on it. Okay I'm off....

Gosh, I'm soooo tired this morning! I went to bed earlier than usual so that I would be nice and refreshed this morning...so much for that. I'm also a little aggravated. I woke up all puffy and swollen, even my stomach looks bigger! Not cool, and no I just got off my period so it's not that. I was 100% OP yesterday, had a great workout, drank my water...but somehow I guess I had too much salt cause I'm all puffy. I'm going to try my best and flush it out today. FRUIT- that is awesome news! Keep us posted. Pancho- Seems like you are having a tough time. Hang in there and it will eventually get better. Yea, I know..easier said than done. Well, I have a customer, gotta go!

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

Got my report back this morning. No FRACTURE!!! But the sprain is pretty bad so I'll remain off the two weeks to try and heal it. I had talked to him about some extra time off for some mental R&R...he's willing to do that, but will have to use a mental diagnosis...That will be fine with me...Like JACK, I'm very PUT OUT with the way things are going there...This new CEO (who with her yearly evaluation is now almost at $700,000!) is trying to change everything at one time and I just feel in my bones she will try to convince the board to sell us to a Private Company. They have taken away the Retirement insurance (at 20yrs we get free insurance if we retire before 65)
so I have to ask myself...at 17yrs why am I still there? What for!!! I could bag grocerys at PUBLIX for better benefits!

OK...I feel a little better now!!!

MONET...You were probably right to get back on that interstate and head north. Even though FLA won, some of the people can still be a little IFY!!
Good going on that DRS report!! As for SUSAn...I don't hear from her much..I know she's busy, but we need to TAKE THAT BROOM TO HER!!!

JACK...I feel your pain on the job thing! Sorry to hear about the Fashion Shope...did they all become that or just yours?

TONI...I used to keep a perm all the time...Very easy to take care of!

TALITHA...

THIN...CONGRATS to your "little girl" on her part in the NUTCRACKER!! Beautiful show...it's something one can never get tired of!

KEN.... HEY GIRL!!!

LAURIE...Sorry you're so puffy...That's how I feel most days...
How's BOOGIE feeling?

Well, I've got to find some lunch...I'll be back later!

forgive my typing...i am one handed. the left one is full of a skirming cooing baby boy! kaeleb loves to sit in your lap and look at the computer screen. he is so cute! his two month check-up is in a week and i will be interested to see how much he has gained!

Ok, his mommy just took him from me cause he was getting fussy.

I have a headache today. I thought I would go walk after I got back from the store, but my blood glucose level has been too low today. You are not supposed to exercise if it is under 90 and mine was 65 this morning, and only went up to 95 after treating it. Its back down to 77...bummer. I am going to skip one of my evening meds and see if that helps. The headache and fatigue are from the hypoglycemia.

I am going to go lay down for a bit. Will check in later!

Just checking in:

Thin, how wonderful for Rachel. That is something she will remember her whole life.

Toni, enjoy your trip. Hope you love your hair.

Bob, If I had to stay home for 2 weeks and do nothing, I would need a rubber room, not more time off. Glad it wasn't a fracture. Sorry things are not going well at work. I'm not sure about the Fashion Shop. I think just ours.

Monet, what a great find. Didn't you order some off the internet? Take care of your knee. Northing worse than a sore knee. Give that big boy a little squeeze for me.

Julia, I can't ever take a nap. If I do, I'm up all night long. I guess you have to use your spare time to get things done.

Heart, sorry you are puffy. Keep drinking that water.

SOLLY: Yes, I did order some of the smaller sheets..and Tom paid for it. Now I have both! :s: I need to USE them!

BOB: I could seriously NOT afford it! I could hardly afford the $45 I spent as it was. When the bill comes due I will NOT have the money to pay it off. The sheets left were all dark sienna and I decided I could do with out 10 or more sheets of my least favorite color.

BOB: "Enjoy" your two weeks off! As well as you can being layed up, that is.

Monet: Have fun with the paper. Paint something, would ya?! :D

Laurie: I feel puffy this morning, too. I think it's humidity.

Toni:  Hope your perm comes out well!! I hate the first day or so after a perm...the smell is horrendous!

Ken: What a crappy way to wake up...for you AND Chris. I hope this morning started out better.

Thin: Good for Rachel! Its great to get the lead roles!!

Solly: Hope things get better for you at work. You spend a LOT of time there and it really stinks when works adds discourse to your life.

Talitha: When I watched Cheaper by the Dozen, I thought, "What does this guy DO for a living (I was watching in passing, so his job may have been mentioned, but I missed it) to put all those kids in such nice clothes and such a big, nice house...he must, like, own Kodak!

Missy: :carrot: Sometimes...just sometimes...the creeps of the world get a clue and do something unselfish. SOOOO happy for you and I hope they stay the course and things go quickly and smoothly for you.

Okay...I have breakfast with my friends this morning and have to fix my hair. I took a shower last night and went to bed with it wet and I look like Medusa! :fr: And I have to get breakfast for Kyle so he can get ready for school.

Talk to you later on!

PS...went for the lighthouse yesterday, but it started sprinkling and thundering half way out, so I came back. The sun was shining when I left...but it's a looooong way back in the rain without a jacket, so I came back and then it stopped when I got back. I should have kept going, but at least I got half in.

Okay...bye for now!

Good morning! I am trying to decide what to do. Justin's aunt is an artist...she draws wonderful things. She loves pottery though and wants to learn more about it. I have a degree in pottery and I want to learn more about drawing. We hit it off the first time we met and have found we like each other more each time we see each other. They live up in the mountains, and she has invited me to come up whenever, for the day, the week, and we can work on the wheel, go draw, and just play with art the whole time. It is awesome to have someone who is as passionate about art, and yet compliments my personality and style so well. I think we could be really good friends. So we were planning on my driving up there either this afternoon, or tomorrow. Tom was fine with it, until he started thinking about the bathroom remodeling project. :( Now he suggests I finish it before heading out. I think he is hoping my desire to go to the mountains and do art stuff will be inspiration for me to get the bathroom done. I could still go ... but I hate to disappoint Tom. So, I am trying to decide what to do. :chin:

I slept fairly well again. This could become a habit! I think the regular evening cup of Sleepytime Extra tea is beginning to be effective. My arms are really sore today from the time in the pool last night. I do love water aerobics...I may have to join the Y.

My glucose levels were awesome yesterday. Now I am worried about the increase in my lizard spit shot...I hope it doesn't make me hypoglycemic a lot!

TECH: I would have turned around too...no sense walking in the rain! At least you made it out for SOME time. I need to suit up and get out there this morning before I go get a new tire for my car...one of them is about bald! :o

BOB: It was hard to leave the rest of the sheets there, believe me! I will probably cut these in half, or some of them, giving myself more chances for paintings. I think I will do a series of mountain paintings to celebrate my recent trips to north Georgia... How is the knee today? Getting in the cold water actually helps mine some. I hear it makes you put out endorphines...natural pain killers.

Hi Ladies,

How is everyone today? Got to the gym last night for about 45 minutes. DD was tired and we had a dish cooking in the oven and DH was worried about it. Tonight I am volunteering at the breast cancer store again. Probably folding more shirts. So I won't make it to the gym.
I am having the worst time trying to decide what clothes to take to Nashville. Warm in the day and cool at night. Plus I hate my clothes. I think I could throw away my whole closet except for about 8-10 things.

Monet, how long will it take you to finish your bathroom? Glad you had such a good day with all your levels and sleeping well.

Tech, any walk is better than no walk. I would have done the same thing.

Thin, I bet Rachel is so happy. I love Sugar Daddy's & mostly Sugar Babies.

Bob, are you keeping that leg propped up? Hope it is feeling better.

Better do some work. Will check in later.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

It's a BEAUTIFUL DAY here on the WEST COAST OF FLA!!! No humidity (yet)
and the temp is behaving.

My knee seems better in different ways today. It's still popping and cracking (which makes me think there is more going on in there than what the xray said), but the swelling is better. Still hurts like the devil, but I'm sure that will take some time..

MONET...Where in the mountains does Justin's Aunt live? With the trees getting ready to burst, that would make for some beautiful paintings. Let us know what you decide to do.

KRIS..Way to go on going to the lighthouse!! Halfway that is! Enjoy your time with your friends this morning!

THIN...What a good surprise for Rachel...how long has she had them on?
SUGAR DADDY....Hmmmmmmmm. Tell her to be careful...she sure doesn't want to pull her teeth out (I'm sure they will be a little loose) after going through all that time with her braces on! Tell her CONGRATS!!!

I got new glasses ( I may have told y'all about them breaking) and they have broken three times since I've had them...they have broken one more time and this fourth time will be the charm. I'm going to talk to the Dr about this. I know she doesn't know anything about it or how many times I've been there with them in two pieces! I really think they are defective and this make them come apart. I want her to give back my benefits so I can pick out a new pair. It took a month to get them in the first place so I know it will be about the same time frame. I hope she values my business and does the right thing. FINGERS CROSSED PLEASE!!!

I'm off to WALMART to hobble into the EYE DEPT...I want to know how much a pair would be there if I were to buy an separate pair. I went to Lenscrafters yesterday and the advertise all these specials...ALMOST $400 if you can believe that! No deal for me there!

I'll be back later!

This gets harder...I just got an email from Justin's aunt, and she is SO excited and can't wait for me to get there. How can I say I am not going to come this week? I think I am going to go....and will work on the bathroom today and Friday.

THIN: That is great news about Rachel's braces! I agree...go easy on that sugar daddy! After getting them straight, you don't want to pull them out or anything! :) I would have though popcorn would be the thing to have!

BOB: I can so relate on the knee....AND the glasses. I got new glasses last year in December, right before Jan. 1, so I could use my benefits. Then in April, I found out I was diabetic, and once my sugar levels were normalized, my vision improved dramatically! So, I am wearing my old glasses, and my new ones are not usuable. Tom and I go round and round on this. He went to America's Best, and got mad at them about how they handled insurance...but he got the club plan so he could get his eyes checked as much as he wanted for like two years. He made me go to Lenscrafters...and while I paid the same amount as he did, I can't go get my eyes checked again, or get new glasses without paying. If I had the club plan he does, I could have gotten my new glasses fixed and had my eyes checked again...grrr. We can't afford to pay out of pocket right now, so I am going to have to deal with these old glasses for another year, probably. Justin's aunt lives near Clarkesville, Georgia. Its above Gainesville.

Morning. I weighed this morning although I'm still just "slightly" puffy..at 168. And that was at 4:45 AM. Since starting this job in April my weight mainly has stayed in the 170's. These people love to eat around here and I obliged. When I started, my weight was around 165. I've taken off 6, but still have 3 more to go for my 1st goal. Then my second goal will be to get back to my all-time low of 159. Just taking it one day at a time. Tomorrow I have my pre-op testing that will take a few hours. No breakfast because I have to fast after midnight. I was just popping in to check the board. I'll check back this afternoon.

Howdy from Stinky head... (yep! got my permanet yesterday and boy am I curley...) I'm supposed to be packing but just can't seem to get motivated. Maybe later this afternoon. Had lunch out and I cheated yesterday but then again I didn't eat dinner because I wasn't really hungry because of a big lunch. But did have a nice afternoon out. Not much going on here right now. I need to get busy but I'm a slug this morning.

Ok, here goes. I took Rachel to see the dietician today and she had a few good ideas, but mainly nothing I didn't already know. Her blood work has not come in yet.

Then we went to see the cardiologist. Both of them have cholesterol in the normal range. Sean is doing great. The cardiologist wanted to know why the endocrinologist had not put Rachel on glucophage yet and decided to do so himself. The physician's assistant, who is a very nice lady probably in her 50's, also mentioned PCOS. I was very impressed with that observation since I have read how much trouble some of those girls haveover on the insulin resistance board. However, Rachel is a bit young for that and has only had one period, so too soon to see how regular she will be, but they are going to keep an eye on her and see her in one month and I left their office relieved that they were really listening to us. They also mentioned that they are tinkering with the idea of having a class for kids starting in January that would be in conjunction with the hopital. They want to have doctors, psycologist, etc on hand and talk about fitness and nutrition with the kids. There would also be exercise and cooking classes just for them! They would split them into maybe 6-11 age group and 12-18 or so. They will have classes for the parents too. The kids could talk to each other and feel like somone understands. It would be maybe once a month meetings/classes and weekly "callin" weigh ins for about 6 months then some sort of maintenance after that. I thought it sounded great, so we'll see how the new year comes together.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I went to WALMART and the glasses there would be $218 plus the cost of frames. I decided to go and talk to my Eye Doc and she what she had to say. Of course, she didn't know any thing about what i've been going through with my glasses! She let me pick out anything I wanted (frames) no matter what the cost and my glasses are now in transition to the lab to be made. She told Julie (in the glasses dept) not to even fool with my insurance company but to send them to their lab and they will pay for them.
I should have talked to her in the beginning. So hopefully, I'll have my glasses in about a week or maybe two. With that behind me, I feel better about the whole thing!

THIN...I think a young girl can get PCOS very early on and not even know it until they are grown so this is a good thing that they have this in the back of their mind to check. When you see the Endocrinologist, have them check her for this...it all ties in with insulin resistance. I'll be anxious to hear..

LAURIE...I know you've probably already told us about your surgery, but tell me again...what kind are you having?

TONI...That the worst part of a perm...THE STINK!! And not being able to wash your hair right away doesn't make it any better!!

MONET...check on the price of glasses at COSTCO next time you go out there. I bet they are a LOT cheaper...

I've decided that while I'm home, I'm going to grill up some chicken and when I get hungry, I'm going to snack on that. The protein will help me to get started on my weight loss better...I went to ALBERTSON'S and got ten whole breasts...(bet they weight over a pound a piece) and that will be four meals right there. Got to get my scales down and start weighing my food again. PORTION...PORTION ....PORTION!!!! The green beans suck right now and I'm hoping that when I go to NC at the end of the month to see the new Baby that I can find a late garden or two and bring home about a bushel.
I've been having a hard time finding good fresh veggies so I've been buying frozen and just barely getting them hot through to eat so I don't lose the nutrients. All of our lettuce and such comes from MEXICO and I'm afraid to eat any of it after that Spinach scare. Ecoli effect all the leafy veggies if it's in the soil and I'm just not going to take a chance! I quit buying the bagged lettuce a long time ago. We've moving into SWEET POTATO season and I'm hoping to find some good WHITE SWEET TATORS...I love them so much better than the orange ones, but will eat the orange ones if I can't get anything else. They are good for a treat every now and then.

I've rambled enough...anyone watching THE BIGGEST LOSER? They take them on a cruise tonight and that ought to be interesting with all the food that is available on a ship. Also LOST starts tonight but I'll tape that...at 10p.m PROJECT RUNWAY is on ...I just love that show...AND we're getting closer to TOP CHEF which starts on BRAVO on the 18th...I bought another VCR to hook up in the LR so catch some of the shows that conflict...I'M REALLY ADDICTED!!!!

THIN: That is very encouraging news. The glucophage might be just the thing. I take it. If it IS PCOS, it would be good to catch it early and find ways to keep it from becoming worse. Tom has a cousin that had it for years before she was diagnosed, and the poor thing weighs about 350 or more and has a terrible time losing. If they had caught it earlier, she might have been able to keep from gaining so much. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the support! They warned her that she may have gas and some diarrhea for a few days, but to keep taking it. It will get better! I don't know a lot about pcos, so I'm off to surf and see what I can find.:mag: I meant to mention that the dietician seems to be overly concerned with portion control and not so much with the high fiber ww part. I know portions are important, but doesn't it matter what you are portioning! She challenged us to fine one more day a week for Rach to walk or do something and wants her to shoot for 5-10 lbs off by January. I guess we'll see how it goes!

Ellen
10-04-2006, 10:24 PM
THIN: Yeah, I am skeptical of some dieticians... But, I agree with her that exercise is KEY. I know Rachel dances, but walking, running or something that is constant activity sustained over 30 to 45 minutes is going to burn some major calories. Anything that will help tone and build muscles will help too. She is probably getting the toning at the barr. Check out the articles on PCOS in the Dieting With Obstacles section. There are some good discussions and information to be found over in that forum. I recently started moderating there too, primarily for the Diabetes area, and have seen some of those articles.

BOB: You watch LOST? The whole family loves it...except me. I hardly watch any TV...

Hi Ladies,

It is Friday for me. We will be leaving for Nashville in the morning. I am looking forward to it. Should be a fun weekend.

DH won $200 last night at the Elks Club. That will help pay for our trip. Just hope I can control my eating. I saw a new number on the scale (not really new, just one I haven't seen in over 2 years). I would like to see it again on Monday. Hoping that is good incentive. The WW leader had a neat saying that might help some here:

Before you eat something, ask yourself 4 things:
1. How will I feel if I eat it.
2. How will I feel if I Don't eat it.
3. How will lI look if I eat it.
4. How will I look if I don't eat it.

If you stopped and asked these questions, you may not eat the food or if you do, you may not feel the guilt you normally have.

Thin, glad you have finaly found someone to take an interest and see what could be going on with Rachel. I will say, WW had definately helped me with portion control. Counting those points, makes you realize how you over ate before. My DD can't get over the point value of food she was eating that she thought was good for her. It takes a while to get your body used to smaller portions, but it does. One day of exercise will definately help her even though the dancing should be enough.

Bob, glad you got your glasses taken care of and free at that.

Monet, did you decide to go to the mountains?

Gator, Bob, Susan, Missy, good luck this weekend. We get good ole Spurrier. Haven't beaten them since he has been there, so Sat probably won't be any different.

have a great weekend, in case I don't get back here.

Well here we go with day one for Rachel. She had pb toast on my homemade bread and some fresh pineapple for bfast. She started the metformin last night and we'll see if she has any of the stomach upset that they warned her about. I told her to call me if she needs me. I also e-mailed her teachers to explain what was goin on and PLEASE let her go to the bathroom if she ask to, but don't mention it to her ( it would be so embarrassing!) The doctor told her that it would decrease her appetite so make sure she eats lean proteins and complex carbs like ww breads, pastas and veggies. ;) Sound familiar? I am anxious to hear if their plans for these fitness/ nutrition/ health classes come through and how much it will cost! I do think it would be great for these kids to get togethr with others in the same boat and not feel so isolated.

Good Day everyone!!!

The girls have a few days off school, so we are taking it easy this morning. Britt will have a playdate tomorrow, so I will take Lane to the gym with me. I will then also go Saturday and Monday. I won't be able to get back to the gym again until next Friday since I have a busy week next week. My weight is at 118#, and it just may be my new low, as I've been there for 2-3 days now. I'm sure with the holidays around the corner, I won't stay there long ;) .

Things have died down a bit here; thank goodness. We found a home for the puppy, and the lady will be picking her up on Saturday. We will miss her, but it will be nice to get back to some normalcy around here. The lady who bought her just lost her American Eskie in August after having her for 16 1/2 years. She brought pictures of her and talked so much about her, and was crying when talking about her. I am so glad that this puppy will help fill the void she has in her life/heart right now. I know this puppy will be in a great, loving home and will get so much more attention than she does here. She was on her way out of town when she came to see her, so I told her we would take care of her until she got back into town.

I am going to be doing a walk for Juvenile Diabetes on November 4th, and will be collecting donations. If anyone is interested in making a donation, no matter how small....$10, $15.....you can PM me, and let me know.

I guess that is it for now....on to some replies:

Tech: Thanks for sharing your story; how sad you had to deal with someone like that when you were pregnant. I am glad you were able to steer around him safely and not harm yourself or your unborn baby. People are so intolerant and so unhappy! Thanks for the kind words, and encouragement!

Fruit: Congrats on the awesome news!! I pray that everything continues to move on in a quick and positive manner.

Monet: Thanks for the prayers. What a find at the craft store. I hope you are able to get to the mountains and do some pottery and artwork; how therapeutic that would be!!!!

Solly: Sorry work is so frustrating for you right now. A vacation is exactly what you need. Have a great time in Nashville! I loved it when we went a few years back. Thanks for the support and prayers. I'll let you know when I hear anything on my tests.

Ken: Hopefully this is not a new pattern for Chris. My girls are up with the sun, and usually before! They are such early birds. Lane has been getting up at 5:45 - 6:30 lately, even on days we don't have school. There was a day last week that I was aiding in her class, and she was so excited, she woke up at 4:45 and never went back to sleep. Next time I aide, I won't tell her until that day, once she is already awake. Britt is usually up by 6:30 as well, even on weekends. They are so young, and life is so full of so many wonderful things; they are ready to get up and embrace the day as early as possible. Thanks for the hugs and kind words; I definately needed that! I am so glad to see you posting again!

Heart: I'm glad to see you posting too! It sounds like you are doing well, overall, with your eating. Keep it up. Good luck with the pre-op stuff, and the procedure next week. I'll pray that all goes well for you!

BOB: I am so glad the injury to your knee wasn't worse, but I know it must still be painful! Try to take it easy and take care of yourself. Sorry work is such a drag right now. That really sucks!

Thin: Congrats to Rachel on getting her braces off early; that is fantastic! Britt is going to need them; she has a bit of an overbite (she was a thumb-sucker for the first 3 years of her life). Those classes sound like a great idea. Britt has a rare eosinophil condition, and I've just learned of some classes for parents of children with this; they meet once a month at a Children's Hospital here. I guess they get the kids together sometimes as well. I am going to get more involved with that, and set up some meeting for Britt with other children.

Toni: I'm sure your hair looks fabulous!

Well, the puppy is up and wandering and I gotta get the kids a snack.

Have a wonderful OP day!

Hi everyone,
I have been SOOOO busy and just will make this a quick post.

I went up to the Fl panhandle to visit my father for his 90th birthday. My other 3 sisters also came for the 3 days. We went up Monday and drove back Wed. I got home last night about 9 pm. My sister who lives here and I took all the food. We wanted him to have his favorite foods. He lives in a retirement center where they eat their meals in a community dining room. We had steak and baked potatoes and salad one night, with his favorite pie--chess. Then ham, squash casserole, country style green beans, biscuits and honey, and apricot roll for dessert. Not totally legal!!! But things he likes to eat.

Then the plumber came back this morning to pput some gizmos on a couple of faucets so it would pass inspectiion. The inspector came at 10 and I totally forgot about my workout appt. at 10!!! :(
Then I went to the grocery store because we are going up to Gainesville tomorrow for the weekend. My DS and her DH are going with us. We play LSU and it's a toss up about who is supposed to win that game.

Right now I'm feeling a little frantic with all the travelling I've been doing. Hardly home at all and things are getting a little out of control. I still have french homework today, french class tonight and I meet with my mentee also this afternoon. I didn't have time to walk!! :(

I haven't weighed. I suppose I'm up a little bit after the past 3 days. Oh well.

Monet--The game last weekend got out about 7 pm. It started at 3:30. Gator fans are, for the most part, pretty nice. Fairly classy, in my opinion. Definitely not any worse than a bunch of barking dawgs who have just left Sanford stadium there in Athens! So you had no more reason to be afraid than I would have to have been afraid if I had stopped off in Athens after a game there. Naturally, the traffic in any college town right after a game gets over will be bad!

Well, I need to go. Lots to do.

Where is everybody?? :?:

Tonight is our homecoming game and the team we're playing has not won a game this year. Maybe we can break our two game losing streak!:cheer: Go Grizzlies!!

Rachel seems to be doing well with the new med. I've noticed her measuring out her portions. She asked for the measuring spoons this morning so she could measure her pb for her toast. Last night after dance she was not hungry, but I made her eat a piece of cheese with her pill so she would not get nauseous. I think I will have her take it with breakfast and dinner each day, so if she is not hungry in the evening it will already be taken care of. She takes her morning dose around 7am and we usually eat dinner between 5:30-6:30 so I think it will be OK. Does this sound OK to any of you?

Have a great day!!:grouphug: We need some Halloween smilies!!

Hey, everyone! I am back from the mountains, and I had a ROCKING time! I threw over 40 pounds of clay, and got several pitchers, mugs, a few platters/plates, and some bowls and bottles. My pottery buddy will now fire them and glaze them. I love to throw, but I hate to glaze, and she loves to do the glazing...its a match made in heaven!

This morning, we walked 40 minutes on their property. She has a nice pathway through the woods and around the pasture. I met the horses..they have three...and found some really nice areas to set up a chair and easel and paint plen aire. (a fancy term for outside! )

THIN: That is what I do with my glucophage..I take it with breakfast and dinner. It works fine that way, and I don't have much intestinal issues with it. I used to, but it is better now. I hope it works well for her!

I need to go to the grocery store and run some errands, so I will check in later!

Checking in... Tom and I went to Whole Foods for breakfast. It was awesome...they charge like they do for their hot bar...$6.99 a pound. Tom was smart and got all protein. I fudged a bit and tasted the grits, made with organic yellow corn, and a couple pieces of their home fries. Breakfast for the two of us was less than $10. Not bad...and the quiche, which Tom tried and I did not, looked like whole wheat. Double espresso was only $1.59!

We then hit the pool store, and got a liquid solar blanket which MIGHT warm the water enough to swim another few weeks. It was worth a try at $10. Then on to Home Depot where we got an Autumn beauty gardenia, and collards to plant, and I got a masonite board that Tom is going to cut for me to use as a drawing board. The ones I have are not big enough for my large pastel paper! We returned home feeling very good about what all we accomplished. I asked at WF about my Hain's sea salt, and since they were out, the man gave me a small container of another brand for free, to try. Nice!

Laura and I took Kaeleb for a walk on the multi use trail at the park this afternoon. It is about 1.2 miles around, and hilly. It was beautiful out and Kaeleb seemed to really enjoy it. He finally fell asleep about half way around. After a quick trip to the store for junk (for the 'kids' lunches) we came home. I need to head over to Costco as I am fixing dinner for church Monday evening, and am planning on roast beef. I need to get the sirloin tips from there so I can get them started Sunday evening, or Monday early.

Uh oh! UGA and Tennessee huh? The VOLS can win, since it will make BOB SO happy, and I honestly don't care! :) Ain't I magnanimous?

Ok, off to finish my shopping...

Mmfgmf, chomp, chew, chomp. Yum. Tasty tigers. Gators love 'em for dinner.

BOB--No, I don't think we'll be playing UT--if we are lucky enough to get to Atlanta. Y'all are in the same division as we are, so we will be playing someone in the western division. Right now Ark. is the only undefeated team in the west. Congratulations on the win over the dawgs. The Gators still hold the record of the most points against the dawgs at Sanford stadium--53 points. Spurrier was the coach then and he said that he wanted to give Gator fans something to remember. :)

Where has everyone been this week. Board is really slow.
